HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.– May 20, 2011 – Sprint (NYSE:S) announced today The Army Ground Forces Band Brass Brigade will perform as part of the pre-race ceremonies at the 2011 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 21, at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
The Brass Brigade, a unique 11-piece progressive group, will deliver its rendition of “God Bless America” prior to the start of the Sprint Showdown and present the national anthem moments before the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
The 11 members are part of a larger band made up of 64 soldiers who have passed highly selective auditions and are among the finest musicians in the United States Army Band Program. Headquartered at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Ga., the ensemble is the musical ambassador of the American Combat Soldier to the American people, instilling pride in our troops and promoting a spirit of patriotism and support for our nation’s military through the performance of music at the local, regional and national levels.
