DODGE QUOTES “Pocono is one of those tracks that is so different. It has its own identity with the three corners being very different. Turn 1 is very bumpy – high-banked, high-speed. And then you get to Turn 2. I think that’s the most important turn at Pocono, the tunnel turn. That corner get real slick and as the race progresses, it’s tough to gain time through there – it’s easy to lose time. And then you have the long, sweeping Turn 3 that’s a challenge. Some drivers love the place, some drivers hate it. I’ve had a good amount of success there; it’s one of those places where if you get it, you get it. If you don’t, you’re always fighting that uphill battle.” Kurt Busch, No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T

“I’m so proud to be a part of this Miller Lite team and all the hard work that goes into getting our cars to the racetrack every week. You know, this season got off to a slow start. We had a lot of new faces that were working together for the first time. We expected a few growing pains. Now I really feel that we are starting to fire on all cylinders. We’ve been very competitive for much of the last month, but we didn’t catch any breaks. On Sunday we, again, put ourselves in position to race for the win. This time things went our way. All we can do is keep putting ourselves in position to win and good things will happen.” Brad Keselowski, No 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T

DODGE MOTORSPORTS QUOTE OF THE WEEK “I’m a big fan of the rule NASCAR implemented, putting winners in the last two spots (in the Chase). I think that serves the sport very well. And hopefully, we’ll be able to capitalize on it. But there are no guarantees of that. I feel pretty confident that it’s going to take two wins to guarantee your way into it. So obviously we’ve got to do this (win) again, and that isn’t easy. I like the system and I feel good about our chances. We’ve just got to keep moving forward. That’s what it’s all about.” Brad Keselowski, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T

    Leading the Way

Carl Edwards continues to grow his Sprint Cup points lead, now leading second place by 40 points.

  • Greg Biffle Pocono Notes and Quotes

Greg Biffle Pocono Notes and Quotes

Biffle on Pocono: “Well, I’m definitely looking forward to Pocono this weekend for several reasons. It’s always good to go back to a track where you are the most recent winner but I’m also excited that we’ll be shifting again. Pocono is really more like a road course than a traditional oval so shifting is important to make the car perform properly and allow for better racing. It can be a difficult track because all three corners are completely different which makes handling an obstacle. We can just go there and try to run as well as we did when we won and hope for the same result. I’m also excited to go do a little fishing up there on Saturday afternoon.”

Erwin on Pocono: “NASCAR has relaxed the gear ratio rule to allow shifting at Pocono which I think will make for a better show for the fans. By being able to shift, the drivers will be able to accelerate better off of the slower corners for faster and more competitive racing. It just adds another element to the race and I think it will obviously be an advantage to the drivers who are better at shifting and road course racing. We’d love a repeat win there and that’s what we’re aiming for.”

    NOTES

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonald’s Team

Pocono History: McMurray will be making his 17th start at Pocono Raceway when the team returns to the triangle shaped speedway in the mountains of Pennsylvania. His best start came in the spring of 2005 when he won the pole. McMurray’s best finish of ninth came during the June 2004 race at the speedway, and he matched that finish again in August 2008.

Kansas Review: Starting from the sixth-position in the STP 400, the McDonald’s team struggled with handling issues on the No. 1 Chevrolet in the early stages of the race. The crew worked tirelessly throughout the event to try to find the right balance on the car. After a late race pit road penalty, the team’s decision to use fuel strategy to gain positions was foiled, and the McDonald’s Chevrolet came home with a 29th-place finish.

In the Points: The 29th place finish at Kansas drops McMurray and the No. 1 Team one spot to 27th in the NSCS Championship standings. He is now 92 points out of 10th and only 41 points out of the 20th place wild card cut-off.

Visit to Joplin: Prior to the race in Kansas last week, Jamie McMurray visited the tornado-ravaged town of Joplin, Missouri and offered support to those in his hometown. During his trip to the devastated area, he spoke with many who were directly affected by the tornado. While there, he visited his childhood home and was given a first-hand account of how the owners Thomas and Donna Tinker took cover to survive the storm.

McMurray on Joplin: In a statement, McMurray said, “It is difficult to put into words, the emotions I have when I see the devastation and destruction that was caused by this storm. My thoughts and prayers are extended to all the people who are dealing with so much loss.”

Making a SPLASH: Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced an associate sponsorship agreement for the remainder of the 2011 season with SPLASH Products Inc. SPLASH a national provider of seasonal safety products based in Eagan, MN,. Will have its logo prominently displayed on several assets for the #1 team including the team’s transporter, on the uniform of Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 winner Jamie McMurray and his #1 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chevy.

Cool Off With a Summer Treat: Make a pit stop on the way to or from the track at one of several area McDonald’s restaurants including – Route 940 Oak Street Shopping Center, Mt. Pocono PA, 18344 (570) 839-3290 or Route 209 & 115 Brodheadsville, PA 18322 (570) 992-5337 and try a refreshing Real Fruit Smoothie, McCafé Shake or Frozen Strawberry Lemonade to break the summer heat!

Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team

Last Weekend: Juan Pablo Montoya qualified the No. 42 Target Chevrolet on the outside pole for the STP 400 and led the first lap of the race. Montoya would lead a total of 10 laps on Sunday. As the track temperatures rose, the handling of the No. 42 became a concern. The Target crew made adjustments and utilized fuel strategy to get Montoya back up toward the front. With 20 laps remaining, the Target Chevrolet had moved back into the top-10. As Montoya took the white flag, he radioed to the crew that the car had run out of fuel. The No. 42 Target Chevrolet coasted across the finish line in 17th position.

Pocono History: This weekend Montoya will be making his ninth career start at Pocono Raceway and hopes to better his August 2009 finish of second at the 2.5-mile track with a win. His best start came last August when the No.42 rolled off of the grid in second. With the second in 2009, Montoya has one top-five and three top-10’s to his credit at the “Tricky Triangle.”

In the Points: Juan Pablo Montoya’s 17th place finish at Kansas Speedway moves the No. 42 Team into a tie for 14th in the NSCS point standings. Halfway through the Sprint Cup Series regular season, Montoya finds himself only 25 points out of 10th place and the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Getting Less “Tricky”: In his last four starts at Pocono Raceway, Juan Pablo Montoya has racked up one top-five and three top-10 finishes. Prior to 2009, his best finish at “The Tricky Triangle” was a 16th place finish in August of 2007. His qualifying efforts have also improved with Montoya starting inside the top-10 three times out of the last four races at Pocono.

“Front Row Juan”: Last Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway marked the 16th time that Juan Pablo Montoya started on the front row in his career. His first ever front row start came at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in July of 2007.

2011 in the Numbers: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is one-third of the way into 2011, and Montoya has had a whirlwind season thus far. In 13 starts, Team Target has two top-five and four top-10 finishes and has led a total of 57 laps. He also has two poles and has been running at the finish of every race this season. Montoya currently sits tied for 14th in the point standings, 25 points out of 10th.

    CHASSIS INFO

No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #1102. Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion has elected to bring Chassis number #1102 to Pocono Raceway. This is the same chassis that McMurray drove earlier in 2011 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and most recently at Dover International Speedway in May.

No. 42 Target Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #1103. Crew Chief Brian Pattie and the No. 42 team will bring chassis #1103 to Pocono Raceway this weekend. The last time Montoya used this chassis, he finished in the 12th position in the Sprint All-Star Race. Prior to the race at Charlotte, this chassis started on the pole and had a tenth-place run at Auto Club Speedway in March of 2011.

  • FEDEX RACING EXPRESS FACTS — POCONO RACEWAY

FEDEX RACING EXPRESS FACTS — POCONO RACEWAY

DENNY HAMLIN — #11 FEDEX GROUND TOYOTA CAMRY

    EXPRESS NOTES:

Kansas Recap: Denny Hamlin and the FedEx Racing team played the fuel strategy game to perfection last Sunday at Kansas Speedway, recording a third-place finish. Crew chief Mike Ford called Hamlin to pit road under caution with 111 laps to go — giving up third position — to make adjustments on the #11 Toyota and get inside the fuel window to make it the distance with just one more stop. Falling back to 21st in the running order, Hamlin charged through the field to get back up near the top-10. As the race went green and the front-running cars were forced to pit road for fuel with around 10 laps to go, Hamlin moved up to second. Leader Brad Keselowski was able to stretch his fuel to the end for the victory, and Hamlin’s tight race car wouldn’t allow him to hold off Dale Earnhardt Jr. for runner-up. The third-place result marks Hamlin’s fifth top-10 finish of the 2011 season, and moved him up one spot to 11th in the NASCAR point standings following Kansas. Starting with Talladega (April 17) six races ago, Hamlin and the FedEx team have moved up nine spots in the points.

Pocono Preview: Hamlin is making his 11th Cup Series start at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on Sunday and the 201st of his career. Arguably Hamlin’s best track, the 30-year-old driver has four wins and eight top-six finishes in 10 starts at the 2.5-mile ‘Tricky Triangle.’ Hamlin is the defending race winner at Pocono, starting fifth and leading 88 laps in June 2010 en route to victory lane, holding off a fury of challengers on late-race restarts for the win. He also recorded his first career Cup Series win at the track, when he swept both Pocono races during his rookie season in 2006. Hamlin won his third race at Pocono in August 2009. In the Series’ most recent trip to the track in August 2010, Hamlin guided the #11 FedEx Toyota to a fifth-place result. Hamlin has led a total of 498 laps (of 1,910 completed) at Pocono, and his 8.2 average finishing position is the best among active drivers with at least three starts.

    HAMLIN CONVERSATION – POCONO RACEWAY:

What do you think has helped this team improve over the last few weeks?

“Well, I think qualifying is helping us. We’re getting better at qualifying. When we qualify 15th, that’s better for us. So that’s an improvement. I think my pit crew’s gotten better over these last two to three weeks. That’s been a huge improvement. And our cars are getting faster. So that’s pretty much all you can ask for right now. We have some good tracks coming up for us that we’re excited about and hopefully we continue to climb up in the points. We have made up a bunch of spots over the last few weeks and a few more solid runs will get us in the top-10.”

What is it about Pocono that suits your driving style?

“Pocono is really unlike any other track. The turns all have their own characteristics but they are all relatively flat and those are the kinds of corners that I feel I am the best on. But Pocono is also tricky because it’s easy to overlook how complex the track is and how fast you are moving. We had our spin there in that first race and it could have easily ended our race with just a little more damage and each year it seems like someone has a big hit so you can’t take anything for granted at Pocono. I’ve also had the opportunity to drive some great cars here. Mike (Ford) has brought some awesome cars to Pocono and it’s been a pleasure to drive them.”

Ricky Carmichael, No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado, WinStar World Casino 400K Preview

Ricky Carmichael No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado Event Preview Fact Sheet

    Event/Date:          WinStar World Casino 400K – June 10, 2011

Venue:                   Texas Motor Speedway – Fort Worth, Texas

    ·         This Week’s Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado … Ricky Carmichael will pilot chassis TMS-021 from the Turner Motorsports (TMS) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) stable in Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 400K at Texas Motor Speedway. Built new for 2011, this is the same Monster Energy Chevy Carmichael raced to a 12th-place finish last month at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

    ·         Texas Totals … Carmichael has four NCWTS starts to his credit at Texas Motor Speedway and has a 10th-place finish to call a career-best at the lightning-fast, mile-and-a-half Fort Worth oval. The Tallahassee, Fla., resident has logged an impressive 8.3 starting average, 13.3 average finish, completed 588 of the 630 total laps run over those four races (93 percent) and earned just over $52,000 in purse money.

    ·         A Look Back at Kansas … With no laps on the race track and less than two hours to prepare their back-up truck, Carmichael and his Mark Rette-led Monster Energy team soldiered to a 21st-place finish in last Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway. Carmichael lost the handle on his black and green No. 4 machine during qualifying and backed his primary truck in to the outside retaining wall. Rather than attempt to repair their heavily damaged Chevrolet Silverado, Rette and Co., rolled out the back up for the 167-lap affair.  The15-time AMA National Champion was forced to start 35th but despite the less-than optimal circumstances, Carmichael came up just short of a top-20 finish.

    ·         In a nutshell … The 2011 season marks Carmichael’s second year competing on a full-time basis and third year overall in the NCWTS. Since making his series debut 51 races ago, the father of twins has gone on to earn three top-five and 13 top-10 finishes. Over those same 51 races, the motocross legend has logged a 15.0 average start, a 17.1 average finish, led 38 laps and completed 90.7 percent of the laps run, earning just over $673,000 in purse money.

    ·         There’s a New Kid in Town … For the first time this season, Canadian-born Steve Arpin will take his turn behind the wheel of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado as Turner Motorsports welcomes Mike’s Hard Lemonade to the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization’s family of sponsors. Arpin will race the No. 32 machine five times this season. In addition to this Friday’s 400K in Texas, Arpin will steer the Mike’s Hard Lemonade Silverado at Kentucky Speedway (7/7), Iowa Speedway (7/16), Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis (7/29) and Chicagoland Speedway (9/16).

    ·         Get to the Point(s) … Carmichael is currently 16th in the NCWTS driver point standings and sits just 14 points outside the top 10. He is 14 markers behind 10th-place Brendan Gaughan and just 27 points behind Parker Kligerman in eighth. Carmichael’s Turner Motorsports’ teammate James Buescher is seventh in the standings and trails fifth-place Timothy Peters by a slim 12-point margin.  Brad Sweet picked up two spots in points with his eighth-place finish last week at Kansas Speedway before turning over the keys of the No. 32 machine to Arpin for this weekend’s race in Texas.

    ·         Turner Motorsports is Texas Strong… Turner Motorsports owner Steve Turner considers Texas Motor Speedway his home track. Turner along with his wife Sandra live outside of Houston, only four hours from the Great American Speedway.  Turner Motorsports captured its second NASCAR Nationwide Series win of 2011 last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway with Justin Allgaier and the No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet team.  The organization is in its sophomore season of NASCAR competition and has already captured two wins, one pole, 26 top-five and 60 top-10 finishes in both Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series competition. Turner Motorsports has expanded from a two-truck Truck Series operation in 2010 to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-three touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the Nationwide Series.

    ·         Dreaming of the Prelude … Turner Motorsports will be well-represented in the seventh annual running of The Prelude To The Dream as Carmichael, and Nationwide Series regulars Allgaier and Jason Leffler travel to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for Wednesday night’s charity event. All three Turner Motorsports drivers have unique experience running on dirt that should play into their favor at the high-banked, half-mile clay oval. The live, commercial-free broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (5 p.m. PDT) with an immediate replay. HBO Pay-Per-View’s racing telecast has a suggested retail price of $24.95 and is available to more than 71 million pay-per-view homes. HBO Pay-Per-View is the leading supplier of event programming in the pay-per-view industry.

    ·          Welcome Aboard… Kroger and the Independent Buyers’ Co-op (I.B.C.) will be featured on the lower-rear quarter panels of the No. 4 Monster Energy Silverado this weekend in Texas. The Kroger Co., (NYSE:KR) headquartered in Cincinnati, is one of the nation’s largest grocery retailers, with fiscal 2010 sales of $82.2 billion. The Kroger Co. spans many states with store formats that include grocery and multi-department stores, convenience stores and mall jewelry stores. Kroger operates under nearly two dozen banners, all of which share the same belief in building strong local ties and brand loyalty with our customers. I.B.C. is a buying group for independently owned convenience stores in Texas and Louisiana that negotiates programs with its vendors to offer I.B.C. members substantial savings in convenience store related product and services. I.B.C. is designed to provide its members with the massive advantages of having a fully staffed office dedicated to increasing members’ profits through the collective purchasing of products, promotions, services and training.  I.B.C. has created a format that its members follow to grow their businesses to their maximum, while reducing costs, streamlining their operations and increasing their profits.

RICKY CARMICHAEL QUOTES Texas is one of you favorite race tracks and a place where you feel like you’ve got a legitimate chance to run in the top five or possibly even win. What makes Texas such a good track for you? “I’m not sure really sure I can put my finger on it but I like the amount of grip the track has. I just love everything about that track. The first time I went there, when I was a rookie and hadn’t been on a track like that before, I ran pretty good. It’s just one of those tracks we go to that gives me a really good feeling. I’m really excited to go to Texas this weekend.”

What’s the key to a fast lap at Texas Motor Speedway? “The truck needs to be good and secure underneath you. The track has a fair amount of grip so that’s not usually a problem. You need to run the truck along the white line on the bottom of the track as best as you can. Texas is typically a place where the fast guys will run around the bottom of the race track. The top line will probably start working once we get a little deeper in to the race but I think if you can get your truck working good on the bottom, that’s the best place to be. Fortunately for me, every time I’ve raced at Texas, I’ve been fast on the bottom and fast on the top.”

You had a tough weekend in Kansas. How do you put that behind you so you can bounce back in Texas? “I’m excited to go to Texas this weekend. Obviously, we’re not where we wanted to be as far as points go and we haven’t had the year we were hoping for. That being said, there are a lot of races left. We’re going back to the basics and try and figure some things out this weekend that can get us back to where we need to be. I think this weekend will be a great test for me and for my team because historically, I’ve run well at Texas and I know how the truck should feel. We’ve got a great opportunity to get a baseline and figure some stuff out like why I’m not getting the feel I like and what’s hindering us so, I’m very optimistic about this weekend. At the same time, if we can figure out what’s missing, I’ll be even more excited about our chances. With the way things have gone, expecting a win right now is a little far-fetched but if we can hit on the rights things, we can be up there. Our goal is to get the feel in the truck that I like and shoot for a top five.”

Considering you had a rough week in Kansas, Texas probably couldn’t come at a better time. “Texas couldn’t have come at a better time. We had a great meeting after our incident in qualifying last week. We’re going to work really hard to duplicate exactly what we had under the truck last year at Texas. I’m hoping we’re going to get it figured out this weekend.”

Texas is essentially a home race for Turner Motorsports. Does that provide a little extra motivation for you to do well? “Absolutely. I know all three of us … myself, James (Bueshcer) and (Steve) Arpin would all really like to run up front. When James and I finished second and fourth at Dover last year, Mr. Turner was on Cloud Nine. For me, as long as we run the way we’re capable and figure some things out, we should be able to run inside the top five. Obviously, with James’ ability, he should be able to as well. Arpin has won an ARCA race at Texas before so, as a whole, we should be able to produce this weekend. For us to do well as a team, for Mr. Turner in his home state where he conducts his business, would be outstanding. Mr. Turner has placed a lot of faith in me and given me a great opportunity so I’d really like to reward him with a good finish.”

You’re back for another Prelude – do you have any expectations this year? “I’d just like to be better than I was last year. My goal this year is to qualify the best I can and just be really, really consistent in the feature. If I can do that, we’ll have a decent finish and it will give my team a decent shot at winning. Last year, I got caught in a wreck on the first lap and messed up my left front. From that point on, it was just miserable. I just want to be super, super consistent and be there at the end.”

What other drivers helped you out last year in explaining the car, the nuances of dirt racing and getting around Eldora? “Austin Dillon and Clint Bowyer helped me the most. They were both very instrumental in my learning process and still are. Those guys are experts at it so I’ve got two great guys helping me. At the end of the day, it’s tough to go there and expect to keep up with the guys who have been doing it a long time.”

  • Kimmel Racing Gears Up For the Tricky Triangle

Cornelius, NC – The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards heads to Pocono Raceway for the first time this season for the Pocono ARCA 200. Pocono is easily considered to be one of the more difficult tracks on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. It has been referred to as “The Tricky Triangle” over the years, and with just cause. Each turn at the famed track is designed to be distinctively different from one another, which produces some challenging qualities for race teams.

Frank Kimmel knows all too well how tricky Pocono Raceway can be. He has won there on three occasions in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since 1997, but he suffered a horrendous crash in 2008 that left him battered, bruised and in the hospital. Most men would have been rattled after such an event but not the nine time ARCA Racing Series Champion Frank Kimmel. His confidence never wavered. Since the crash he has collected three top 10 and two top 5 finishes in four starts.

“Pocono’s a hard track to get around, yet very fast. As a driver, you’ve almost got to anticipate getting a little frustrated there, because of each corner being different. If you can run smooth through two out of the three turns you’ll probably end up with a nice finish,” commented Kimmel.

Frank Kimmel will be behind the wheel of the Roush-Yates powered No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford this coming Saturday. Last weekend Kimmel drove his Ford to a solid 7th place finish at Chicagoland Speedway after a lengthy rain-delay postponed the race late into the night. As it currently stands, Frank sits 2nd in the overall ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards point standings. Kimmel only trails the current leader, Ty Dillon, by 125 points.

“There will be several folks from Ansell at the track watching the race this weekend. It would be awesome if we could win on Saturday and have them in victory lane to celebrate afterwards”, said Frank. “I feel very fortunate to have two fantastic partners in Menards and Ansell that continue to support me every race weekend”.

Currently, Frank Kimmel ranks fourth on the all-time career wins list at Pocono Raceway for the ARCA Racing Series. On Saturday June 11th, he returns to the two-and-a-half mile triangle, where he looks to climb that list with his fourth win. It won’t be an easy task, but Frank will be up to the challenge.

Watch for Frank Kimmel as he goes for his fourth win at Pocono Raceway driving the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford on June 11th for the Pocono ARCA 200 in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Also, be sure to visit a Menards location to purchase your next pair of Ansell Gloves. Additionally, be sure to visit your local Menards in Central Indiana to take advantage of the in-store ticket sales promotion for the Ansell Protective Gloves 200, which begins June 1 and runs through July 27. In addition to the discounted, advance ticket sales promotion, the drive-to-retail contest promo will run, in stores, July 1 through July 20.

The Grand Prize winner gets to waive the green flag to start the Ansell Protective Gloves 200. Winning entry also receives: two (2) Suite Passes for the July 28 ARCA/USAC double-header at LOR, two (2) Suite Passes for the July 29 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at LOR, two (2) Suite Passes for the July 30th NASCAR Nationwide Series race at LOR, and two (2) Suite Passes for the August 1st NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

First Prize (3 Winners) receive tickets to the July 28th ARCA/USAC double-header at LOR, July 29th NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series race at LOR, and the July 30th NASCAR Nationwide Series race at LOR. Second Prize (10 Winners) will receive a pair of Ansell Gloves.

Team:          No. 17 Affliction Clothing Live Fast Ford Fusion

    Crew Chief:  Jimmy Fennig

Chassis:      Primary: RK-751 (last run at Richmond)

Kenseth on racing at Pocono Raceway: “There are a lot of things about Pocono that we focus on heading into this weekend. Fuel mileage is a big deal because it is such a big track and you can’t run very many laps on fuel there. All three corners are very unique; Turn one is really rough and bumpy which makes it hard to find a good groove, and honestly, all three turns are a challenge to get through fast. The straightaway is really long and you tend to spend that time thinking about the corners. It is the corners I guess that are the biggest focus for me because it is a challenge to get your car handling all three of them correctly, and it will be even more of a challenge now with shifting again.”

Crew chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Pocono Raceway: “Pocono this weekend is a place that we can’t really compare notes from other tracks to because of the track’s unique layout and the difference you see among all three of the track’s turns.  When it comes to setting up a car for Pocono, the practice sessions that we have on Friday become really important for us to make sure our Affliction Clothing Ford handles well in all three turns for Matt during the race.  Teams also want a car that can get great gas mileage at Pocono, but we also need as much horsepower as possible to make the most of the long straightaway.”

    FAST FACTS:

    •        Kenseth will appear at Shenanigan’s on Friday (6/10) at 6:00pm for a fan event on behalf of Crown Royal with a Q&A session and autographs.  Shenanigan’s is located at 100 S. Lake Dr., Lake Harmony, PA

    •        Kenseth has an average starting position of 18.8 and an average finishing position of 14.4 at Pocono

    •        Kenseth has achieved three top-five and eight top-10 finishes at Pocono in the Cup series

    •        Kenseth has completed 4,238 of 4,288 (98.8 percent) laps at Pocono and led for a total of 39 laps

    •        This weekend at Pocono, Kenseth will pilot the No. 17 Affliction Clothing Live Fast Ford Fusion

DAVID REUTIMANN No. 00 AARON’S DREAM MACHINE TOYOTA POCONO RACEWAY

CORNELIUS, N.C. — No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Reutimann returns to his racing roots Wednesday when he joins 20 plus drivers from all forms of racing at Eldora Speedway in Tony Stewart’s seventh annual Prelude to the Dream charity race. While Reutimann is racing dirt late models at the half-mile track in Rossburg, Ohio his Michael Waltrip Racing car owners Michael Waltrip and Rob Kauffman compete in France on the 8.4-mile Circuit de la Sarthe in Saturday’s 24 Hours of Le Mans – the world’s most famous endurance race. Le Mans is something even a longtime dirt track racer like Reutimann admits he’d like to try some day.

    DAVID REUTIMANN QUOTES

ON RACING IN THE PRELUDE TO THE DREAM AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY: “I just love racing on dirt. I basically had to beg Tony Stewart to let me come be a part of it and he finally said okay. We’ve been going back ever since. I’ve been able to race the last couple years. It’s just a great event and an awesome group of people. I think Tony Stewart just finally felt sorry for me  after I begged him to let me race and he finally let me come race.”

ON RACING AGAINST DRIVERS FROM OUTSIDE OF NASCAR? “I think it’s great. The first year I went Juan Pablo Montoya was there. How often do you ever think you’ll get the opportunity to race against an F1 guy on dirt in a late model. You got drag racing guys like Cruz Pedregon and Ron Capps and guys like that from all different disciplines of motorsports. Travis Pastrana raced last year. Again, you never know who is going to turn up and run these races.”

ON RACING IN THE PRELUDE THE SAME WEEK MICHAEL WALTRIP AND ROB KAUFFMAN RACE THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS? “That’s something I think all drivers of any discipline have always wanted to do. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is just a really cool race. It’s awesome that Michael (Waltrip) and Rob (Kauffman) are getting the opportunity to do that. Obviously, if you want to talk about two completely opposite ends of the spectrum with me being at Eldora for the Prelude to the Dream racing on a dirt track and those guys racing a 24 hour race in France is a neat perspective that two people involved at MWR are racing at two extremely different types of race tracks. One of the cool things about having Rob as part owner in this deal is that he’s a guy that has broad interests in motorsports. Not only does he focus on Cup Series racing, but road racing as well and it’s neat to be a part of that.”

WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN RACING LE MANS? “Absolutely! I’m not a road racing guy by any stretch, but I figure it would be a neat opportunity to race that length of time with a  team of drivers. I figure if I could get two really, really good road course drivers and me maybe everything I screwed up those guys could make up for.”

    ADDITIONAL NOTES OF INTEREST

    · Reutimann at Pocono Raceway:In eight career NSCS starts at Pocono, Reutimann has one top-five finish – a third in the 2009 spring race. His average starting position is 25th and finish is 24th. He led one lap in the 2009 fall race. In 2010, Reutimann had a top-15 in the spring and finished 17th in the fall.

    · Dreaming of Dirt:Money raised by Reutimann at the Prelude will directly benefit Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.

  • Bodine in NTB, Service Central and Valvoline Colors Again in Texas

Bodine in NTB, Service Central and Valvoline Colors Again in Texas

Germain Racing, Bodine Looking for Repeat Win in Texas with NTB, Service Central and Valvoline On Board the No. 30 Tundra

Bodine is the Reigning Truck Series Champion after earning his 2nd title in 2010

Bodine Owns 21 Truck Series wins with Germain Racing and 36 NASCAR career wins

He has six wins at Texas and is the defending race winner for the June, TMS, Truck Series event

Mooresville, N.C. (June 6, 2011) – If 2010 numbers can predict 2011 results, the competition could skip out on Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. Todd Bodine just scored a strong third-place finish at Kansas Speedway, where he also finished third in 2010. There were a few events in between the two 1.5-mile races last season, but, the events were the longest races on the schedule and the trip to Texas produced a victory for the No. 30 Tundra with Valvoline on the quarter panels. When Bodine puts the No. 30 NTB/Service Central/Valvoline Tundra on track at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, he and his crew will look for nothing less than another win from their efforts.

“We always feel like we can go win at Texas any time we race there,” said Bodine, who admits that this time the team has to put in some extra effort to be in winning form at TMS. “Goodyear’s coming back with a different tire, so the advantage we had with the old setup for our NTB/Service Central/Valvoline Tundra is one we’ll have to work on with the tire change. We’ll just have to work hard to get our Toyota to go as fast as it normally does, but I’m sure this Germain Racing team will have no problem doing just that.”

Bodine says that returning to Texas with Valvoline branding on board certainly is part of a familiar scenario he and Germain Racing hope to duplicate.

“When we went to Texas last June, we had Valvoline on the quarter panels for the first time and we were able to take them to victory lane. We’re hoping to give them, Service Central and NTB another winning experience with the 30 Tundra at Texas Motor Speedway,” said Bodine.

Bodine is strapping into racing chassis GR-019 for Friday’s Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. The truck is new to the Germain Racing fleet; it raced first at Kansas Speedway. The No. 30 NTB/Service Central/Valvoline Tundra driver is currently ranked ninth in the championship standings.

Watch the No. 30 NTB/Service Central/Valvoline Tundra on Friday, June 10th, at Texas Motor Speedway on SPEED. Live race coverage begins with the NCWTS Setup at 8:30 PM Eastern with the start of racing at 9:00 PM. Not in front of a TV? Tune your radio to your local MRN affiliate.
