Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Feed The Children 300 ADVANCE
Team: No. 6 Blackwell Angus Ford Mustang Crew Chief: Mike Kelley Chassis: RK-654
Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 6 Blackwell Angus Ford Mustang: “I won my first ARCA race at Kentucky and I ran ninth in one Nationwide start there so I feel pretty good about it. It’s been two years since I’ve been on the track. Our cars have always been pretty fast there. Carl [Edwards] has been fast and won some races so I’m really looking forward to getting there plus we have got a cool design on our Blackwell Mustang.”
IS THE TRACK AT KENTUCKY BUMPY AND IS IT DIFFICULT TO FIND THE RIGHT GROOVE? “It used to be really bumpy. I did make some laps the last time we were there on it and it seemed to be really smooth compared to what it used to be. I don’t know if they’ve done something different or what.”
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE CUP CARS ARE AT KENTUCKY ALONG WITH THE NATIONWIDE CARS. DOES THAT CHANGE ANYTHING FOR YOU? “It actually might change something because we’re going to have more rubber on the racetrack and normally in Nationwide the racetrack normally doesn’t get really wide. It’s normally two grooves, the bottom and the middle. I think Cup cars are definitely going to make it wider so that we can really do some good racing.”
Stenhouse Jr. is third in the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship standings, 31 points behind leader Reed Sorenson and nine behind second-place Elliott Sadler. He leads fourth-place Justin Allgaier by six points and fifth-place Jason Leffler by 42…Posted a ninth-place finish in his only previous NNS start at Kentucky…Scored first ARCA series win at Kentucky in 2008, edging Scott Speed in a green-white-checkered finish in his sixth start…Has led at least one lap in five of the last six NNS races and 12 times in 11 races this season for 181 total laps…Stenhouse has racked up 14 bonus points, most of any NNS regular…In 10 superspeedway starts this season Stenhouse has claimed one pole, five top-fives and nine top-10 finishes…Average start this season is 7.0 and his average finish is 10.8 and has completed 98.0 percent of total possible laps (2,996 of 3,058).
