#50 MAKE Motorsports Prepares to Honor the 156th Airlift Squadron
– The Gulfcoast Loss Prevention Chevrolet honors North Carolina Heros –
SHELBY, NC (July 5, 2012) – T.J. Bell and the #50 Gulfcoast Loss Prevention Chevrolet prepare to honor the 156th Airlift Squadron for tomorrow’s Subway Jalapeno 250 night race at Daytona International Speedway. The #50 will honor those that were killed or injured in a recent incident in South Dakota. The #50 Chevrolet will sport the 156th Airlift Squadron Emblem on the hood of the Impala. This is in honor of the North Carolina Air National Guard C-130 that went down while helping with the wild fires in the west.
Four airmen died and two others were seriously injured when a Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) equipped C-130 belonging to the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina Air National Guard, based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, crashed Sunday evening while fighting a woodland fire in Southwestern South Dakota. Dead are Lt. Col. Paul K. Mikeal , 42, of Mooresville, N.C.; Maj. Joseph M. McCormick, 36, of Belmont, N.C.; Maj. Ryan S. David, 35, of Boone, N.C.; Senior Master Sgt. Robert S. Cannon, 50, of Charlotte.
Mark Beaver was a member of the North Carolina Air National Guard in the 1980’s and is also a Co-Owner of MAKE Motorsports. He stated “The men and women of the 156th Airlift Squadron gave me so much when I was a member; MAKE Motorsports was deeply saddened by the loss. It is our honor to be able to run the emblem on the hood of our car from my fallen comrades.”
Co-Owner Tracy Lowe, a Flight Nurse in the Charlotte area, spent many hours working close to the North Carolina Air National Base in Charlotte. “I always felt protected knowing they were there. It is a great feeling knowing that this group is there to help protect us and this is our opportunity to say Thank You for all they have done to serve our country.”
The #50 Gulfcoast Loss Prevention Chevrolet will qualify Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2:05 pm with the Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway beginning at 7:30 pm.
