No. 30 Autotrac Chevrolet News and Notes
This Week’s Silverado…The No. 30 Autotrac Chevrolet Silverado team will bring chassis TMS-211 to Iowa Speedway for Saturday night’s 175-mile NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race. TMS-211 has been resting since its debut earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway where it was raced to a sixth-place finish.
For the love of racing…Piquet Jr. spent this past NCWTS down time at the racetrack. The 26-year-old Brazilian headed to the dirt track last week, and for the first time, got behind the wheel of Turner Motorsports crew chief Jimmy Elledge’s Mini Outlaw to race around Woodleaf Speedway in Woodleaf, North Carolina. Piquet Jr. then became a spectator and went north-of-the-border to catch the sights and sounds of the Honda Indy race in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Season Update…Nelson Piquet Jr. is currently ninth in the driver point standings. With 14 races to go, Piquet Jr. has captured three top-five finishes at Kansas Speedway, Dover International Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. After eight races, Piquet Jr. has led 122 laps, with an average finish of eighth.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Iowa Speedway
“I get excited to go to back to Iowa. The track is fun to race at and the fans are always awesome. I’m also happy that we’re bringing the same truck we used at Martinsville, I had a lot of fun racing it there and I’m sure this weekend will not be any different. After my last race was so unsuccessful, I’m more than ready to get back on the track and bring home a win for my Turner Motorsports team.”

James Buescher on driving at Iowa Speedway
“Iowa [Speedway] is a great track. They really thought of everything when coming up with the design. The race track is conducive to side-by-side racing. You can really search the track for a number of different lines. Unlike some of the other short tracks we race, Iowa Speedway really isn’t as much about beating and banging. You need to float the truck into the corner and let it rotate. I am really looking forward to another strong performance by the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet on Saturday night. The race fans in Iowa are passionate about NASCAR racing and it shows every time we come to town. I am excited to see them this weekend and hopefully get our AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet into victory lane.”

No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevrolet News and Notes
Headed to the Heartland…After a one-week hiatus, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) returns to action in the first of the season’s two showdowns at Iowa Speedway. Paludo has one previous NCWTS start under his belt at the 0.875-mile facility, as well as one NASCAR K&N Pro Series East start, both of which yielded top-15 results. Paludo finished 15th in his 2011 NCWTS debut in the Corn Belt, and recorded a 13th-place finish in the 2010 NKNPS East event.
So Far, So Good…The No. 32 Brakes and Components Chevrolet team now has eight races in the books, officially crossing the one-third mark in the 22-race NCWTS schedule. As it stands, Paludo is 10th in the driver point standings, 75 points behind current leader Timothy Peters. So far, Paludo has an average starting position of 11.5, an average mid-race position of 9.5 and an average finish of 15.5. Paludo has made 261 green-flag passes, led 145 miles (the fourth most of any driver this season) and has run 74.2% of the season’s 1324 total laps in the top-15.
Congratulations, It’s A Girl…No. 32 crew member Tyler Jones and his wife Holly welcomed their second daughter into the world over the off-week. Lyla Michelle was born on Monday, July 2nd, weighing in at 8 lbs. 13 oz. and 19 inches long.
Stop By, Say Hi…Paludo will be participating in the NCWTS autograph session on Saturday, July 14th from 2:15-3:15 p.m. local time. The session will be held in the track’s midway area under the north grandstand in turn four.
Diabetes Fact of the Week…Frontstretch.com writer and NCWTS supporter Beth Lunkenheimer is participating in the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes and she needs your help. Lunkenheimer has chosen to walk for Paludo and his son Oliver, and has set a goal of raising $1,000 for the ADA. If you wish to find out more or make a donation, please visit: http://stepout.diabetes.org then click the Donate button and search for Beth Lunkenheimer under participants.
This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-207 for this weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway. This truck last took the track at Martinsville Speedway in March where it scored a 17th-place finish. The team also used this chassis at a recent test at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga.
Previous Race Recap… Paludo scored his sixth-consecutive top-15 finish of the season in the UNOH 225 at Kentucky Speedway. After two strong practice sessions and a top-five qualifying run, Paludo battled the hot, changing conditions under the lights, bringing home a 12th-place finish and entering the top-10 in the NCWTS driver’s points for the first time in 2012.
Watch and Listen…The American Ethanol 200 can be seen live on July 14th on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 8:00 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.
Miguel Paludo on driving at Iowa Speedway
“Our entire team is really looking forward to the race at Iowa Speedway. I love that track, it’s a great facility with a lot of grooves to race in, and I think we’re going to be really prepared when we get there. The No. 32 team went and tested at Gresham Motorsports Park this week, and we think that this is going to be really relevant when we get to Iowa. Right now, we’re focusing on getting better in race trim. We are consistently fast in practice and qualifying every week, but for some reason that isn’t translating as well as it should once we get the green flag, so we’re just trying to see what we are missing and improve the way I communicate with my crew chief. A little bit is a lot, and we’re feeling that. We’re so close to where we need to be, it’s really just going to be the little things that make the difference between a good race and a great race.”
