Jason White – No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford
Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 200
Jason White on Atlanta: “Atlanta is a challenging but fun track to race. It is very important to have a good balance on the handling of your truck. The track does allow for multiple grooves of racing, so you can search around and find the best line for your truck – especially with traffic. A big key will be maintaining grip as the track is rough and you end up slipping and sliding around a lot. Doug George (crew chief) and the guys on this team have been giving me great trucks and we have been pretty strong on these 1.5-mile tracks so far this year. I am excited to get to Atlanta and have a strong run for this team and our sponsor, GunBroker.com, who is based in the Atlanta area.”
Jason at Atlanta: This will mark Jason’s seventh career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Jason has a best finish of 11th in the 2010 event at the 1.5 mile speed plant in Hampton, Georgia. Jason has a best qualify effort of 14th at the track which he accomplished in 2009 and 2010. The event will also mark Jason’s 185th start in NASCAR’s top three divisions.
Race Rewind: Coming off a career best finish just five day earlier, Jason White and his GunBroker.com team had very high hopes as they entered the driver’s favorite track. However, a long day of battling handling issues on their No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford relegated White and his team to a 14th place finish in the running of the UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. He would begin the race fighting a very “tight” condition on his No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford and long green flag runs didn’t provide the Doug George led team many opportunities to make the necessary adjustments. Jason managed to hang onto the lead lap and avoid the late troubles while clawing his way to the 14th place finish.
The finish kept Jason in the 10th position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – only 17 points out of the ninth spot.
“50-Cal” Heads to Atlanta: The GunBroker.com team will be bringing the truck they nicknamed “50-Cal” to Atlanta Motor Speedway this week. In honor of the team’s sponsor, GunBroker.com, the GB Racing team uses gun and shooting themed names for most of their trucks – thus the name “50-Cal”. “50-Cal” last raced at Dover where Jason suffered a rare engine failure early in the event and finished a disappointing 33rd. The truck also raced in the third race of the year at Rockingham Speedway.
Sponsor’s Home Turf: Jason White and his GB Racing teams visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway this week is a little extra special. The teams sponsor, GunBroker.com, is
based in the Atlanta area.
“GunBroker.com has supported me for many years, so it is always special to race in Atlanta,” added Jason. “We always put pressure on ourselves each race to perform
the best that we can. There is a little added pressure I put on the Atlanta race. I really want to put on a great performance for GunBroker.com and the many employees
who will be in attendance on Friday night. We are getting close to that first win and it would be so special to get that in Atlanta.”
