Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger) Finished 18TH SOME BAD RACING FATE ENDED WHAT LOOKED TO BE A GREAT DAY FOR YOU: “It never happens when you’re down a lap and not contending for a win. I’m just really proud of Chad and the guys on the Alliance Truck Parts team because they gave me a great car and great put stops. Just bad racing luck. You can’t control getting a flat tire. Stuff happens. We ran over something and that caused a slow leak. Nothing I could do but put under green and lose all of our track position. It’s a shame. I’m not sure if we would have caught the 18 (Joey Logano) or not but we were closing in on him.”
THIS WAS A TOUGH POINTS DAY FOR YOU: “Yeah, we were in a position to win and when you’re in position you have to take care of your stuff. We had a first or second-place car and couldn’t make it 200 laps because of a flat tire. It’s a helpless feeling. Everybody complains about debris cautions and I find a way to find them (smiles).”
Chad Walter (Crew Chief, No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger) TALK ABOUT YOUR TEAM’S EFFORT TODAY: “I’m really proud of the effort by everyone on the team; just some bad racing luck today that cost us a shot at a win. Sam drove a great race and our pit stops were ridiculously good today. A tough points day for us. We’re not out of it yet but this one stings a bit. We’ve had a couple good weekends and this result doesn’t reflect how fast our Alliance Truck Parts Dodge was today. To stay up with the Gibbs cars today was an indication of how fast we were. I’m so proud of everyone today. I wish we were racing Charlotte tomorrow because we’re running that well. Everything is clicking – driver, crew, engine shop, body shop. It’s just a shame we came home 18th today.”
Ryan Blaney (No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger) Finished 13TH TALK ABOUT YOUR RACE: “We started off really loose and I think it caught everybody off-guard. We were loose the first and second run and then we just over-adjusted on the car a bit at the end. We just never could really get a good run going and get track position. I need to get better. Hopefully we can get some more races before the end of the season. It was a tough day but we’ll be better.”
