BRAD KESELOWSKI (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 10th TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING LAP: “You try not to put too much stock in qualifying at a plate track. I’m usually a 13th to 18th-place qualifier at this place so it looks like we’ll beat that today. All the guys have worked really hard on our engine program. Plate races have always been a strength of ours recently and Paul (Wolfe, crew chief) and the guys have done a great job preparing the car. I’m proud of our effort.”
HOW IS YOUR NO. 2 DODGE IN RACE TRIM? “Our car is one of the fastest race cars that I’ve ever driven. It’s fast. We continue to show improvements week in and week out. This car is really competitive. We just need to keep all the fenders on it and go get ’em at the end.”
A.J. ALLMENDINGER (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 9th HOW WAS YOUR CAR IN QUALIFYING? “The Shell/Pennzoil Dodge seems solid. It hasn’t been wrecked yet, which is a good thing (laughs). We have good speed in the car; both cars do. Obviously they’re built really close. Overall, the car seems to suck up pretty good and was good in the draft. I think that we’ll have the speed in the car to win the race. We just need to stay away from the wrecks.”
THE PRACTICE SESSIONS WERE PRETTY CAUTIOUS. DO YOU ANTICIPATE THE SAME THING TOMORROW NIGHT? “It’s hard to say. You just never know at these races. Sometimes (the races) are crazy from the start and other times guys will settle in and race smart. I think that everybody will be fairly cautious at the beginning. It’s a three-inch mistake that causes a big mistake here. We’ll wait and see how it goes. Hopefully we’re leading the race when the big one happens.”
