No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet Silverado News and Notes
First time in a truck at Dover… Jimmy Weller, driver of the No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet Silverado, will turn his first laps in a truck this week at Dover International Speedway. However, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunoco Rookie contender does have some experience at the track known as “The Monster Mile” in a K&N Pro Series East racecar. In 2012, Weller rolled off 14th in his first K&N race in Dover, Del., and went on to complete all 154 laps en route to an eighth-place finish.
Back-to-back races… Finally able to settle into a rhythm, Jimmy Weller will be back in the No. 08 Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet this weekend at Dover International Speedway. After a flat tire led to a 25th-place finish at Kansas Speedway earlier this month, Weller went on to finish 14th at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway just two weeks ago. To finish out a string of back-to-back runs, Weller will also compete in next weekend’s race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, June 6.
Double-header weekend… Jimmy Weller will take on another double-header weekend with racing action racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Dover International Speedway on Friday afternoon, and the big block dirt modified division at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio on Saturday night. Weller, who began his career at the age of 15 racing against his father at the 3/8-mile Ohio dirt track, returns to the speedway whenever his schedule allows. Mixing time in the Camping World Truck Series, the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and the Sharon Speedway big block dirt modified division, Weller looks to gain as much seat time as possible throughout the 2014 race season.

Jimmy Weller Quotes… On returning to Dover International Speedway: “I’m really excited to get back to Dover International Speedway with our Geneva-Liberty Steel Silverado. It’s been awhile since I last raced there, but I had a lot of fun when we ran in there with the K&N Pro Series East a few years ago. It’s a really fun track, and we have great support from the fans there–I’m looking forward to meeting some of them during the autograph session on Friday.”
What to expect from Dover: “I’m really glad to have the opportunity to race at Dover again. It’s such a fun, tough track. You can race really hard and give it your all, and the track just takes it. The speeds are fast, but the track’s tendency to allow tough racing is what makes it so fun. I’m sure we’ll spend time working on my line–my team has been really great this season about working with me and helping me learn. I’m looking forward to another great weekend in our Geneva-Liberty Steel Chevrolet Silverado.”
Getting more seat time: “The season starts out kind of slow for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, so I’m glad that we’re getting to the summer months when we’re racing on a more consistent basis. I’ve been filling out my schedule with races at Sharon Speedway to help keep me fresh and keep myself in a seat. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m really enjoying our ‘double-header’ weekends. I’m looking forward to racing the Geneva-Liberty Steel Silverado on Friday and heading back home to race at Sharon on Saturday.”
