  • Huddleston, Tinkle to Join ARCA Menards Series Road to Daytona Roster

Huddleston, Tinkle to Join ARCA Menards Series Road to Daytona Roster

TEMPERANCE, Mich. (January 2, 2024) – Two drivers representing the ARCA Menards Series East and West have been selected to participate in the ARCA Menards Series “Road to Daytona” during the series’ annual Pre-Race Practice at Daytona International Speedway. The two-day session will take place on Thursday and Friday, January 9 and 10, 2025.

Speedway, Indiana resident Zachary Tinkle will represent the ARCA Menards Series East. Tinkle started all eight ARCA Menards Series East races in 2024, finishing in the top ten in four of them, two of which were in the top five. Tinkle finished a career-best fourth at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in May and backed it up with a fifth-place finish in the next series race at Flat Rock Speedway. Tinkle’s consistency – his only finish outside of the top-12 was a 20th-place finish at Iowa Speedway – resulted in a fourth-place result in the final ARCA Menards Series East standings for the second consecutive season.

Trevor Huddleston, from Agoura Hills, California, will represent the ARCA Menards Series West. Huddleston scored two West victories in 2024 in back-to-back starts at Madera Speedway and All American Speedway in which he led 295 out of a possible 300 laps. Huddleston also finished second to Kole Raz at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in a photo finish, one of six top-five finishes he scored en route to third in the final ARCA Menards Series West standings for the second straight year. All told, Huddleston has made 77 career West starts with five career victories, 30 top-five finishes, and 62 top-ten finishes.

A total of seven drivers representing the ARCA Menards Series East, ARCA Menards Series West, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, ASA CRA Super Series, ASA Midwest Tour, and ASA Southern Super Series will share cars prepared by 1995 ARCA Menards Series champion Andy Hillenburg throughout the two-day session. Each driver will have an opportunity to run approximately 100 miles at speeds approaching 190 miles per hour.

The ARCA Menards Series Road to Daytona has seen several participants matriculate from the pre-race practice runs to competing at Daytona and battling for and winning NASCAR national series championships. Former participants include 2023 ARCA Menards Series winner at Daytona Greg Van Alst, 2024 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series champion Ty Majeski, 2024 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Justin Bonsignore, ARCA Menards Series race winner Travis Braden, and 2024 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series rookie of the year Layne Riggs.

Live timing and scoring data will be available throughout the two days of track activity, scheduled to run from 10 am through 5 pm, at ARCARacing.com.

The 2025 ARCA Menards Series season will kick off with the 62nd Annual Daytona ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 15. The race will be televised live on FOX starting at 12 noon ET; the race will also be broadcast nationwide on select affiliates of the MRN Radio network.

Race and pickle fans everywhere will be able to cheer for the iconic pickle company and Gilliland for multiple races during the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. The Grillo’s Pickles Ford Mustang Dark Horse Pickle Car is scheduled for three races in 2025.

The Pickle Car will return for Pocono Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and the Chicago Street Race. Grillo’s Pickles can’t wait to continue their fun with Gilliland and NASCAR fans next year.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with Todd and Marissa Gilliland and Front Row Motorsports,” said Adam Kaufman, President and CEO, Grillo’s Pickles. “Todd and the Front Row Team have been amazing partners to encourage Grillo’s Pickles and NASCAR fans to Chill Out and Eat a Pickle. Grilllo’s Pickles will also be a season-long associate partner of Gilliland and his team in 2025. Gilliland has been impressed with all the fans of pickles.

“I think everyone loves Grillo’s Pickles,” said Gilliland. “They debuted such an awesome scheme at New Hampshire and fell in love with the program. The Pickle Car has really taken a life of its own and I can see it becoming one of NASCAR’s most popular schemes. I really want to thank Grillo’s Pickles for becoming a bigger partner of our program in 2024 and now for 2025. Things are getting better and better with our team and the partners make it all possible.”

Grillo’s Pickles and FRM also collaborated on compelling social media content with Gilliland, his team, and Sam Sam the Pickle Man. Now, with Grillo’s returning to Gilliland’s Ford Mustang Dark Horse in 2025, Grillo’s Pickles will continue Sam Sam’s journey in becoming the “World’s Most Interesting Pickle” at the track and away.

“I’m super excited Grillo’s is continuing their partnership with Todd in 2025,” said Marissa Gilliland. “I am really looking forward to being involved with the partnership as well. Grillo’s has been “all in” on Todd and I can’t wait to do my part in the partnership to further build their brand.”

Made with a 100-year old family recipe, Grillo’s Pickles started in the Boston Common in 2008 selling pickles out of a Cutlass Supreme and then a Pickle Cart. Since then, Grillo’s has grown to national grocery distribution and will extend their partnership with FRM in the 2025 season.

As a street car focused multi-purpose entertainment venue, Lead Foot City will be the first of its kind in the country,” said Achilles Thomas, Mayor of Lead Foot City. “Being a facility that is focused on the NHRA Street Legal program helps to bring NHRA back to its roots, giving racers a safe place to race without taking the fun out of it.”

To this day, that continues to be the primary mission for the association. One of the most effective tools in the fight against illegal street racing has been establishing Street Legal events, which are held regularly at NHRA member tracks.

“Bringing a track like Lead Foot City into the NHRA family is vital in today’s age of drag racing,” NHRA Division 2 Director Cody Savage said. “It is exactly the type of racetrack this company was founded on, and I can’t wait to see what they accomplish with our Street Legal and Speed for All programs. • Honda Presents World Premiere of Honda S+ Shift, Next-generation e:HEV Technology

Honda Presents World Premiere of Honda S+ Shift, Next-generation e:HEV Technology

TOKYO, Dec 19, 2024 – (JCN Newswire) – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. held a press briefing on next-generation technologies for its original 2-motor hybrid system, e:HEV*, and presented the world premiere of Honda S+ Shift technology. Honda plans to install Honda S+ Shift in all of its future hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) models featuring the next-generation e:HEV, starting with the all-new Honda Prelude scheduled to go on sale in 2025.

The original Honda e:HEV hybrid system combines exceptional fuel economy (environmental performance), achieved by the highly efficient 2-motor hybrid system, and high-quality and exhilarating driving experience (driving performance), delivered by the high-powered traction motor. By optimally alternating between the motor and the engine as a source of driving force and applying highly efficient controls depending on the driving environment and conditions, e:HEV achieves high fuel economy without making it a conscious effort of the driver and realizes driving at the will of the driver, responding linearly to driver inputs.

The newly developed Honda S+ Shift is a new function designed to pursue the “joy of driving” that further accentuates the sense of oneness between the driver and the vehicle, while fully leveraging the characteristics of the e:HEV system. The further advancement was made to the Linear Shift Control synchronizing vehicle speed with engine sound, which has been installed in e:HEV models starting with the Fit e:HEV that launched in 2020. Without compromising high environmental performance unique to HEV models, the Honda S+ Shift precisely controls the engine RPM during acceleration and deceleration to realize direct drive response and sharp gear shifting. Moreover, the powerful engine sound synchronizes with the Active Sound Control (ASC) system, enhancing engine sound quality by offering the engine sound in sync with engine RPM through the speaker system and the highly responsive meter display. In this way the Honda S+ Shift will stimulate all of the driver’s senses and provide exhilarating driving at the will of the driver, further “synchronizing” the driver and the vehicle.

Key features of Honda S+ Shift

    • By linking two high-power motors with the ASC system, the Honda S+ Shift achieves dynamic engine RPM changes and a sharp upshift feeling, providing feedback that resonates with all of the driver’s senses, amplifying the sense of oneness between the driver and the vehicle.
    • The Honda S+ Shift further advances the Linear Shift Control applied to current e:HEV models, enabling gear shifts (upshift and downshift) according to the driving conditions and environments at all speed ranges. While turning, the Honda S+ Shift system quickly responds to driver steering input and activates shift hold, enabling the vehicle to trace the desired driving line at the will of the driver.
    • By maintaining the optimal engine RPM for the particular driving conditions, the power generated by the engine during re-acceleration will be fully utilized as driving force. This greatly improves the initial response time of the motor when the driver depresses the accelerator pedal and enables overwhelmingly high response that is directly connected to driver input.
    • Although e:HEV does not have a mechanical transmission mechanism, when the Honda S+ Shift is activated, the driver can shift gears with a paddle shifter, so that the driver can enjoy driving feel as if the vehicle features a transmission system. With quick gearshift responses achieved through the coordination of the engine and high-power motor, Honda S+ Shift function will strive to offer the joy of driving based on direct response to driver input.

The letter “S” in the technology name, Honda S+ Shift, has been used in the names of Honda models and technologies such as the S600, S2000, and Type S, representing the “sports spirit,” which Honda believes to be the source of the joy of driving. The “+” indicates that this function will add new value represented by words such as “Synchronized” “Special” and “Sensational.” The word “Shift” represents the Honda desire to make a shift that takes people and automobiles to the new world.

*e:HEV is a global communication name for the Honda high-efficiency 2-motor hybrid system with outstanding fuel economy, which is the core of Honda electrification technologies. The e: represents the Honda desire to ‘energize’ people and bring about a smile and high spirits by using ‘electricity’ as the ‘energy.’

Daytona International Speedway Unveils Course Design for 2025 DAYTONA Supercross

Supercross legend Ricky Carmichael returns to design course for 18th year in a row

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 18, 2024) – Daytona International Speedway today unveiled the highly anticipated course layout for the 2025 DAYTONA Supercross, taking place during the 84th Annual Bike Week At DAYTONA.

Five-time DAYTONA Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael has designed yet another grueling course for the 18th consecutive year, with the 2025 layout presenting some very different challenges for riders than in years past.

“It’s an honor to have Ricky Carmichael, the GOAT of Supercross, design the course for DAYTONA Supercross once again,” said Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway. “Ricky has an unmatched ability to create a track that challenges the riders while delivering an unforgettable experience for the fans. When you combine those elements, it’s guaranteed to be another can’t-miss spectacle here at Daytona International Speedway.”

    2025 DAYTONA Supercross

The 2025 course layout is going to generate intense racing as riders will start by making a right-handed first corner. This leads into a left-handed 90-degree corner followed by a rhythm section that rides right along The Roost. From there, they’ll go all the way across the frontstretch giving fans an incredible view of all the racing action. There’s no doubt that this course is sure to bring entertainment and showcase some incredible talent from the riders.

“I tell you what, the split lane is always a lot of fun. We work really hard to make it even and give riders lots of options. I’m looking forward to this year’s design, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun no doubt especially with the right hand turn and a completely different track design as we’ve seen in the last several years,” said Carmichael.

Last time these riders took center stage at the World Center of Racing, Jett Lawrence made history, beating Eli Tomac, who is known as “The King” of DAYTONA Supercross after securing his seventh victory at the famed track in 2023. For Lawrence, it was only his eighth career 450SX Class start and it resulted in his first DAYTONA Supercross title.

The 55th annual DAYTONA Supercross takes place on March 1, 2025, with riders tackling Carmichael’s course under the lights at Daytona International Speedway as part of the 84th Annual Bike Week At DAYTONA.

Bike Week is a ten-day motorcycle celebration kicking off on Feb. 28, and continuing through March 9, following the intense, high-speed racing of the DAYTONA 200 running from March 6-8 along with DAYTONA Short Track taking place March 6-7.
