Eli Tomac Takes San Diego Supercross Victory

Julien Beaumer Earns Career-First Win in 250SX Class

San Diego, Calif., (January 18, 2025) In a race that took the battle down to the final lap, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac grabbed the win inside Snapdragon Stadium to earn his 53rd career Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory. Significantly for the crowd favorite, Tomac takes over the points lead for the first time since suffering what was potentially a career-ending injury in 2023.

Team Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence was on Tomac’s rear fender until the very end but never mounted an attack for the top spot; Jett’s second place finish marked a strong improvement from his 12th place finish at the Anaheim Opener. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb led early but was overtaken by Tomac and Lawrence nearly simultaneously at the race’s mid-point. Webb, under the weather, held off a late race charge from Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen to keep his podium spot. Last weekend’s winner, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton recovered from a first lap crash; he reached sixth place by the time the checkered flag flew. The Western Regional 250SX Class produced a new first-time winner when Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Julien Beaumer earned his first Supercross win and took over the division’s points lead.

“It has been a long time since I’ve won one of these 20-minute Main Events. So it feels so good to rebound from last weekend; it was a heartbreak there in Anaheim… I had to work for this. I made a lot of passes and was able to keep it on two wheels. This feels so good.” – Eli Tomac.

“That [race with Eli] was awesome. He got me at the start and I was trying so hard just to get close enough to make a pass, but he was ripping… I’m just happy that I’m ten positions better than last weekend, for sure, so I’m happy to be on the box… We tested hard this week to try and get the bike to a better spot, and it was much better.” – Jett Lawrence

“It was a good race. I was able to lead a lot of laps. I got a great start, much better than last week. We saw that those two guys [Tomac and Lawrence] were coming, and then they were [by me and] gone, just like that… I’ve been a bit under the weather so at about the halfway point that was all I had. I gave it my all, had a great battle with Kenny, and was able to hold him off and get a solid podium.” – Cooper Webb

“On the first lap I almost got landed on and then in [about] the next turn I fell over. It was just me not being ready to go at the gate drop, honestly. That kind of lit a fire under me and after that I really feel like I rode the best that I’ve ridden in a long time… Some night’s aren’t your night so we’ll come back at A2 and try to get back on the top step.” – Chase Sexton

In 250SX Class racing, 18-year old Julien Beaumer followed up his career-first podium with his first career win. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies, in only his second pro race, led early with Beaumer making several moves for the lead before working his way past six and a half minutes into the race. Triumph Racing’s Jordon Smith was steady in third until taking over the second-place position at the race’s midpoint. Defending 250SMX World Champion Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan fought forward from a mid-pack start. With just under four minutes left on the clock Deegan reached third, capitalizing on a mistake in the rhythm section from Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing’s Ryder DiFrancesco.

“It was an amazing main event. I got off to a good start and was just trying to be patient behind Davies. I tried to wear him down a little bit and then made my move. From there I just tried to ride my own race.” – Julien Beaumer

“It was a good day. We were changing settings on the bike all day trying to make it better. We still have a lot of things that we can dial in a little bit just to get a little more comfortable, but overall [the bike’s] been really good… the track was gnarly tonight. There were a lot of rocks coming out, even in the faces of the jumps, so you had to be careful.” – Jordon Smith

“Congrats to Juju, that was a good race on him. My race was just embarrassing, I’m sorry you had to watch that. I just got a little pumped up in the beginning and it just [got worse] from there. All I can do is work harder this week and come out swinging.” – Haiden Deegan

  • 2025 Parker 400 Youth Races Showcase UNLTD Off-Road Racing’s Rising Stars

2025 Parker 400 Youth Races Showcase UNLTD Off-Road Racing’s Rising Stars

Few off-road racing promoters make a commitment to youth motorsports like UNLTD Off-Road Racing, and that commitment was once again on display at this weekend’s Parker 400. Dozens of the future stars of off-road racing, some of whom have already taken multiple UNLTD race wins, were once again on the line for this weekend’s Youth Races, and many familiar faces ended up taking the top spots.

This year’s Parker 400 Youth Races were broken up into two groups: a 25-minute race for the 170, 200, and 250 machines on their own course, and a 45-minute race for the 570s and 1000s on a slightly larger course. Running first thing on Saturday morning, they’d kick off the final day of action before giving way to the Unlimited Race directly after.

After just missing the podium in his class last year, Youth 170 Open driver Brixton Wirt dominated the first race this time around, coming in as the only driver to cross the line in time to start his eighth lap. Joining him on both the class and overall podiums were Korbin Grinolds and Jaxon Cotter, as Grinolds fell just short of crossing the line in time to run an eighth lap with Wirt. Cassidy Walton, Maggie Flores, and Jack Gillaspy also came in as winners in their respective classes.

Thanks both to drivers moving up the ranks and a number of new faces, the 1000 and 570 race doubled in size from last year. Ryder Barnaby was initially scored second in Youth 1000 for the second straight year until post-race penalties elevated him to the top spot; joining him on the class and overall podiums were Jacob Williamson, last year’s Mint 400 runner-up, and Gray Lantz, who finished third in Youth 170 Open at Parker last year. Shelby French would take the 570 class win by nearly seven minutes over Indigo Bartley.

Class winners from the 2025 Parker 400 Youth 170/200/250 Race were as follows:

    • Youth 170 Open: #O014 Brixton Wirt, 8 laps, 28:36.771
    • Youth 170 Production: #Y191 Cassidy Walton, 6 laps, 25:06.596
    • Youth 250: #Y247 Maggie Flores, 6 laps, 25:26.886
    • Youth 200: #T279 Jack Gillaspy, 6 laps, 27:01.930

Class winners from the 2025 Parker 400 Youth 1000/570 Race were as follows:

    • Youth 1000: #Y1311 Ryder Barnaby, 6 laps, 46:38.465
    • Youth 570: #Y522 Shelby French, 5 laps, 47:56.973

After the Youth Races, action in Parker continued with the 2025 Parker 400 Unlimited Race, a three-lap trek through the full 145-mile race course. Fans can follow live timing and tracking all week long at theparker400.com/live.

The 2025 Parker 400 marks the first of four rounds on the 2025 UNLTD Off-Road Racing Series calendar. It will be followed by the legendary BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 in Las Vegas on March 5-9, the inaugural Reno 600 in Reno on April 16-19, and the season-ending California 300 in Barstow on October 1-5.

GMG Racing Debuts in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge at Daytona International Speedway

    • Kyle Washington Drives No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in Saturday and Sunday 45-Minute Doubleheader Sprint Races in Debut of New GT Daytona X (GTDX) Class for GT3 Cars
    • VP Racing Challenge Debut Begins Dynamic and Diverse 2025 Sports Car Racing Season for Race and Championship Winning GMG Racing Team

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (January 16, 2025) – Championship-winning sports car racing team GMG Racing adds another racing series to its broad competition lineup with the team’s debut in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge this weekend at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Longtime team driver Kyle Washington pilots the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R in a doubleheader lineup of 45-minute sprint races Saturday and Sunday at DIS in the all-new GT Daytona X (GTDX) class for GT3 cars.

No strangers to single-driver sprint race success, Washington and GMG Racing Founder and Principal James Sofronas have contested several different sprint race series the last few years, including race-winning and podium-finishing results in the IMSA Carrera Cup North America championship.

“In our nearly 25 years of competition, GMG Racing has proudly excelled in all types of sports car racing,” Sofronas said. “From multiple driver endurance events to 90-minute GT World Challenge races with two drivers to a variety of single-driver sprint race series, we have always raced with intensity and a great desire to win in any format. With GT3 machinery added to the VP Racing Challenge series this year, we didn’t hesitate to add another IMSA sprint-based series to our packed annual competition schedule. The Daytona weekend and entire 2025 racing season can’t come soon enough for us.”

In last October’s season-finale Carrera Cup weekend at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Washington stepped up for his best race finish of the year with a Masters Class second-place result in the weekend’s opening race. The P2 finish topped Washington’s third-place showing in the Carrera Cup support race at the Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 race in June and his first third-place run of 2024 in the season-opening Carrera Cup race weekend last March in Sebring.

Washington won in 2024 in Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West sprint race competition at Utah Motorsports Campus. He and teammate Tom Sargent also co-drove to their first GT World Challenge Pro-Am race win last July at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).

A full three-day race weekend, the VP Racing Challenge Daytona schedule calls for a pair of 40-minute practices on Friday. Qualifying takes pace at 8:40 a.m. EST Saturday to set the stage for that afternoon’s first 45-minute race at 2:00 p.m. EST. Sunday’s second sprint at 1:20 p.m. EST closes the VP Racing schedule, and both races stream live Saturday and Sunday on NBC’s Peacock.
