  • NASCAR event schedule for Phoenix Raceway

    This week the NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series travel to Phoenix Raceway.  The NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series is off this week and will return to competition at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 14.

    Michigan native Brad Keselowski will also be one to watch this weekend with a driver rating of 92.8 at Phoenix. He has six top fives, ten top 10s and one pole at the one-mile track. If you are a Keselowski fan, now might be the perfect time to also try the Michigan lottery.

    Kyle Busch has had a rough start this season and is currently ranked 19th in the Cup Series points standings. But his prowess at Phoenix should provide him the opportunity to turn things around.

    He has finished in the top-two in the last four races at the one-mile track. In 29 starts Busch has three wins, 11 top fives and 21 top-10 finishes.

    Jimmie Johnson, competing in his final full-time Cup season, has the second highest driver rating at Phoenix. He has four wins, 15 top-fives, 21 top-10s and three poles.

    Kevin Harvick, however, is clearly the favorite at Phoenix Raceway. He has won three of the last five Cup Series spring races at Phoenix, in 2015, 2016 and 2018 and has nine wins overall.

    Harvick is heading to Phoenix with winning on his mind.

    “I felt like last year, with that particular rules package, we definitely weren’t as good as we had been in the past. I think with the 2018 package, I think we were in the game. It’s been a great racetrack for us as we’ve gone through the years and a place that we go to expect a win. And I don’t see that any different, no matter what the rules package is, the expectations from our side are the same and that’s to go there and have a chance to win. And we didn’t do that last year, but the expectations didn’t change.”

    There have been five different Xfinity winners going back to November 2017 when William Byron won. Keselowski earned the win in March 2018 while Christopher Bell went to victory lane in Nov. 2018. Kyle Busch (March 2019) and Justin Allgaier (Nov. 2019) round out the previous five winners. Notably, former winners Busch, Keselowski and Allgaier are entered in this weekend’s Xfinity race.

  • Busch Clash has new date in 2021 and will move to the Daytona Road Course

    On March 4, NASCAR announced a schedule change for the 2021 schedule. The Busch Clash exhibition race will move to the 3.56-mile road course at Daytona International Speedway. It will take place on Tuesday night, Feb. 9.

    This is the same course where the famed Rolex 24 at Daytona is held. Some may consider the move a gamble but it was made in response to increasing fan interest in road-course races. If you like playing the odds, race over to claim your Caesars Casino bonus code today.

    “The famed road course at Daytona has a long and storied history with sports cars and motorcycles, and now we can write a new chapter on it with stock cars,” NASCAR Vice President of Racing Development Ben Kennedy said. “Fans coming to the track will get to see six consecutive days of exciting NASCAR action, with no two days being the same.” 

    The new version of the Busch Clash will use approximately three-quarters of the speedway’s 2.5-mile track and the infield portion of the road course. It will consist of 12 turns featuring a high-speed entrance into Turn 1 as the competitors leave the front straightaway to navigate the tricky turns. The back stretch chicane will lead upward to the bank in Turn 3.

    NASCAR Hall of Famer, four-time Cup Series champion and current FOX NASCAR analyst Jeff Gordon says, “Having driven on the road course at Daytona in the Rolex 24, I know how difficult the circuit can be. It will present a real challenge to the drivers and teams, and I’m looking forward to calling what I believe will be a lot of action from the booth.”

    Daytona International Speedway president Chip Wile believes the date will add excitement and be a unique addition to the Speedweeks schedule.

    “NASCAR fans have asked for more road-course competition and the industry is listening,” Wile said. “With the talent level the Busch Clash brings to the table, the race will now clearly have its own look and feel during DAYTONA Speedweeks Presented By AdventHealth in 2021 and beyond.

    “The new placement on the Speedweeks schedule also adds to the anticipation. That switch will make for a fuller Speedweeks calendar. Fans also will have the opportunity to engage in a festive infield atmosphere, similar to the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, with many prime viewing opportunities.”

  • Attend a Nascar event at a budget! Learn how!

    Growing up as a kid I remember that my father used to sit hours in front of the TV watching NASCAR races. The TV volume was really high so you could feel the cars passing through our living-room. Now I know that it was this way to block my mother’s yelling from the kitchen. Little by little I became addicted to the races. One of my bigger dreams was to visit America and watch a NASCAR event. I never missed a single movie or documentary that dealt with the subject and by the time I was in college I was practically a moving encyclopedia of NASCAR. Little did I know then that my dream will become reality one day.

    As a British citizen a trip to America always seemed to me as something huge. Tickets were always expensive and the fact that I would need a visa always put me off. Until one day, I overheard a colleague of mine talking about a website offering cheap flights. I immediately opened my computer and started searching for cheap flights to Alabama (where the biggest NASCAR track is located). That is always a good start.

    Step 1: cheap flights

    If you are a British citizen, you love Nascar and you want to attend one of their many events, I would definitely suggest to book a ticket for the Talladega Superspeedway, in Alabama. This is the longest Nascar oval track and in my opinion it is better than the Daytona International Speedway. 

    So, first step is checking in Nascar’s website which event you would like to attend. Nascar offers a huge variety of events all-year long so a good planning is always necessary. Secondly, start checking for cheap flights to Alabama matching the dates of the events you want. There are usually flights from London to Birmingham (BHM), approximately 40 miles from Lincoln where the Talladega Superspeedway is located.

    Step 2: Nascar tickets

    Once you have all the above things ready, make sure to book your Nascar ticket as fast as possible. Nascar events are usually sold out so make sure to acquire a ticket before flying. There are many websites that offer such tickets but we strongly recommend you book your own directly through the Talladega Superspeedway website. In few cases, external vendors might be fraudulent or even steal your money. 

    Furthermore, make sure to print your tickets yourself at home. Do not wait for the tickets to arrive by mail since there are times that these get lost. Last but not least, if you want a true Nascar experience, you can actually camp either with your RV/car or simply with your tent in the Talladega Superspeedway camping. You might actually end up saving some money by staying there instead of booking a hotel in Lincoln. 

    A visit to a NASCAR event is always a once in a lifetime experience. Something that you will never forget. So, start planning your trip now.
