  • What went down in the Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono

What went down in the Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono

Ryan Blaney returned to victory lane Sunday at Pocono Raceway in the Great American Getaway 400. This was Blaney’s second NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) win in the last five races this season and the 12th of his career. The 2023 NASCAR champion won the inaugural NCS race last month at Iowa Speedway, and the Penske No. 12 Ford team could win the championship again this season.

The win also marks Team Penske’s 97th series win and Ford’s 733rd all-time in NCS competition.

“I am super proud of the whole 12 team. The Wabash Ford Mustang was amazing. I appreciate Menards, Body Armour, the Wurth Group, Advance Auto Parts, DEX Imaging, and everyone that makes this possible. It is so cool to win here again. I won here seven years ago for my first Cup win. The crowd, you guys, were amazing. Thank you for being here all weekend.” Blaney said.

    Race Notes

    • There were eight caution flags for 34 laps.
    • There were eight lead changes among eight drivers.
    • Blaney led the most laps with 41.
    • Martin Truex Jr. won stage one.
    • Denny Hamlin won stage two.
    • The race lasted 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 59 seconds.
    • The margin of victory was 1.312 seconds.

    What went down behind Blaney

Denny Hamlin started fourth, led 31 laps, won stage 2, and drove his No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE to second place finish, 1.3 seconds back. This was Hamlin’s eighth top-five of the season.

“Hats off to this whole Mavis Tires and Brakes team. Dave (Sorbaro), the CEO and 100 associates were here today, so we were proud to host them. Would’ve loved to give them a victory, but second is close and at least, it’s good to get back on track. We’ve had some slides over the last month-and-a-half.” Hamlin said.

Alex Bowman and the No. 48 Ally Best Friends Camaro ZL1 team finished third. Bowman ran in the top-10 throughout most of the race most of the race and collected points in both stages. Bowman has six top-fives and 12 top-10s this season.

“Proud of my No. 48 Ally Best Friends Chevy team. It was a good run; we just needed a little bit more to get to the No. 12 (Ryan Blaney). Once I abused the right-rear tire for so long, it made Denny’s (Hamlin) job pretty easy to get around me. But yeah, it was a solid third-place day.” Bowman said.

William Byron finished fourth, and Joey Logano finished fifth.

“We were just kind of okay. Definitely had a decent No. 24 Raptor High Heat Chevy. Really good execution and everyone did a good job of just keeping their heads in it.” Bryon said. “Not every situation went our way with the strategy, but we were able to have decent restarts, especially at the end there, and just kind of maintained it to the end. Definitely a lot of things to dissect, but really proud of the team and just good to get a top-five, for sure.”

“Overall, a top five, you have to be somewhat happy with that. We had speed there toward the end of the race and I think we could have run in the top two. I don’t know if we could have been better than Ryan or not, but it just took us too long to get the balance right.” Logano said.

RFK Racing had a great day. Brad Keselowski finished seventh, Chris Buescher finished 11th, and both drivers led a series of laps.

It was another bad day for Kyle Busch. An on-track incident ended the day early for Busch, resulting in a 32nd finish.

“We ended up getting hit from behind and it ended our day early. That’s just racing these days and it’s what happens. I just want to give thanks to all of our partners.” Busch said. “It’s just unfortunate circumstances. Thank you to Rowdy Nation and all the fans for their continued support. We’ll go back to work and get ready for Indianapolis.”

    What’s Next

The NCS heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the 30th running of the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 21, at 2:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage can be found on NBC and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

  • No. 52 Inter Europol ORECA with Boulle, Dillman, win the IMSA Chevrolet Grand Prix

No. 52 Inter Europol ORECA with Boulle, Dillman, win the IMSA Chevrolet Grand Prix

Nick Boulle drove the No. 52 Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA LMP2 07 early, and co-driver Tom Dillman took over an hour into the two-hour and 40-minute race. During the middle and late stages, Dillman kept the advantage under green-flag conditions for the final 90 minutes to win Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

With a final restart with eight minutes to go, Dillman was able to hold off Felipe Fraga in the No. 74 Riley ORECA to win by 0.658 seconds. This was the second win for Boulle in WeatherTech Championship competition.

The No. 11 TDS Racing ORECA shared by Steven Thomas and Scott Huffaker finished third.

Sims, Garcia captures the first IMSA win for Z06 GT3.R in Chevrolet Grand Prix

Alexander Sims and Antonio Garcia led a 1-2 class finish for the in the No. 3 Corvette Corvette Z06 GT3.R on Sunday in the GTD PRO at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Sims, Garcia started from the pole position and led 109 of 113 laps en route to a 0.408-second victory over Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

“This is huge for the entire Corvette program. I’m glad that we could finally get the first win in IMSA for the Z06 GT3.R and to get my first win with Alex. We just need to carry on like this and build on the things we have been doing. More wins will come.” Garcia said.

“Superb. We’ve had some pace this year at times. The car has been so good today. We were able to execute a really nice race and to be able to generally manage things from the front which is what you generally want to do. The Corvette has worked super well this weekend. Pratt Miller has done a great job. We nailed the strategy, coming up aces when we needed to. It’s been a wonderful weekend.” Sims added

Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti’s (WTRAndretti) GTD class debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park saw Kyle Marcelli and Danny Formal bring home a solid result after a late caution left only eight minutes of racing. The No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team moved into sixth position for the remainder of the race.

“Danny (Formal) did a heck of a job, doing an hour and 40 minutes in the car. This place is busy. It’s also mentally and physically exhausting, so really proud of him for the effort he put in. We’re still missing a bit of speed that we still have to find, but we’ll keep working and keep improving.” Marcelli said.

“Overall, it was a good sixth-place finish, and we gained one position over qualifying. Our strategy got thrown off for a little bit, and that hurt us, but it was cool to see the No. 45 car lead some laps around CTMP with Kyle (Marcelli) behind the wheel. I’m super proud to be part of the No. 45 DEX Imaging Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 team.” Formal added.

    What’s Next?

The next race in the IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Wisconsin’s Road America on Sunday, Aug. 4th, with the LMP2, GTD PRO, and GTD classes will be rejoined by the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class.

  • What went down in the NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville

What went down in the NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400 at Nashville

Joey Logano captured his first win of the season on Sunday in the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway.  This was Logano’s 33rd NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) career win, Ford’s first NCS at Nashville, Team Penske’s 96th series win with Ford, and the 732nd series win overall for the manufacturer.

“There wasn’t a drop of fuel to spare, my fuel light came on in turn three, and that was it, we had just enough fuel to spit and sputter across the line,” said Logano, who started the race in the 26th position.

On the fourth overtime restart, Team Penske’s Joey Logano and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe restarted on the front row.  Logano’s held them off on the restart, but another crash brought out the caution flag and the final fifth overtime restart of the race.  Logano took the inside lane with Briscoe on his outside, and Logano kept the lead by 0.068 seconds ahead of second-place Zane Smith.

“Tyler (Reddick) had the fastest car at the end, but we were able to stay in front of him. I’ve never been involved in a fuel-mileage race before. This is a big one,” Logano said in victory lane.

This win also qualifies Logano for the NASCAR Playoffs, which get underway in September.

“It’s been a hard season,” Logano continued, “and being on that cut line, I tell you it sucks. It’s just not fun. It’s hard, and you just want a little bit of relief of the pressure, and with seven weeks to go until the playoffs, it gives us a chance to breathe for a second and start just kind of working on our car a little bit differently and just sleep better, to be honest with you. I’m proud of this team and proud to be here in Victory Lane, for sure.”

    Race Notes

    • The average speed of the race winner was 108.298 mph.
    • The race lasted 04:03:54, and the margin of victory was 0.068 seconds.
    • There were 15 caution flags for 79 laps.
    • There were 20 lead changes among nine drivers.
    • This was Ford’s 732nd all-time NCS victory, its fourth of the season, and the first NCS victory at Nashville.
    • 24 of the 38 drivers finished on the lead lap.
    • Kyle Larson remains the series championship leader with a 20-point advantage over second-place teammate Chase Elliott.

    What went down behind Logano

Zane Smith finished second, driving the No. 71 Jockey Outdoors by Luke Byran Camaro ZL1.

“It’s been a rough, rough year,” Smith said, “but this is a great momentum booster, a great confidence booster, all of the above. So, hopefully, we can carry this on. It was awesome to kind of sniff your first Cup win. You don’t ever know if you’re going to have a shot at another Cup win, so you just try to execute the best you can.  It just goes to show that everyone is just so dang good in the Cup series.”

23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick had to pit for fuel and restarted fifth on the final green-white-checkered restart. Reddick had the fastest car at the end and got to Logano’s bumper, but he knew that he let one (a win) get away in the end. Reddick finished third and captured his seventh top-five and the 12th top-10 finish of the season.

“We just had a bad restart,” Reddick explained. “I fell back, and I could tell there in the closing laps we were wounded bad. The tires were corded. When the caution came out, we were in a really bad spot. We were going to lose all our track position, but we had to put tires on as I don’t think we were going to be able to hold on during a restart, but it became the very thing that gave us an opportunity to win the race. It was a great call, a gutsy call by the crew chief, Billy Scott.”

Ryan Preece finished fourth and captured his first top-five and second top-10 of the season.

“I’m just really happy with how these guys fought all day. It didn’t look like it was going to be pretty, but another chaotic 10 or 15 laps at the end, and we salvaged a good day. At the end of the day, I will take that result and hopefully, this will help build some morale. We’ve been trending in that direction. Between last week and this week, it’s positive coming into the summer months,” Preece said.

    Chris Buescher finsihed fifth.

“I don’t know what in the world happened there at the end; I’ll have to go back and look… We were able to get a top-5 out of it; we just needed laps to pass cars and really just never quite got it there in the last 40 laps of the race. What a day, up and down for us, but everyone regrouped and did a good job at the end.” Buescher said.

The Series points leader, Larson, ran out of fuel but somehow managed to finish eighth.

“I thought my opportunity to give myself a win was to get clean air on the nose,” Larson said. “I just ran in, got tight and drove into Ross. I hate that, for sure. The next restart I just got really out of shape through the gears and, thankfully, didn’t cause a crash on the frontstretch. And then the next one we ran out of fuel and caused that wreck. Hate that for Kyle (Busch). I had no warning.”

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin had a strong car but had to pit late for fuel and finished 12th.

“We ran out under caution,” Hamlin said. He (Chris Gabehart, crew chief) was monitoring fuel pressure. I let him know what the fuel pressure was. We were fine, just running out of gas and we did under caution. It was the right call. I was going down pitlane there out of gas.”

  • What went down in the NASCAR Cup Series USA Today 301 at New Hampshire

What went down in the NASCAR Cup Series USA Today 301 at New Hampshire

After a two-hour-plus rain delay due to rain, Christopher Bell swept the NASCAR race weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday in the USA Today 301. Driving the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) No. 20 Rheem Toyota, the 29-year-old Oklahoman led a race-high of 149 of the 305 laps and beat Chase Briscoe to the finish line by 1.104 seconds in overtime.

“I love this place. It is absolutely amazing,” Bell said. “This place, I don’t know, it has been special to me since we came here for that late model race back in, I think, 2015. This one was different though. Rain tires, the track was really slippery, it was just so much fun out there in those adverse conditions, the track was changing around so much. That was one a lot of fun, and I’m really happy for our partners – Rheem, Toyota, DEWALT. We have Watts on the car again. I think we’ve won every time they have been on the car. Just a really cool weekend.”

This was Bell’s third win of the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) season and the ninth of his NCS career.

    Race Notes

    • After the extended rain delay, NASCAR elected to go with the wet weather tires to finish the race.
    • The average speed was 84.832 mph.
    • The margin of Victory was 1.104 seconds.
    • There were 14 caution flags for 85 laps, with six lead changes among five drivers. (Bell, Elliott, Gilliland, Hamlin, and Reddick)

    What went down behind Bell

Briscoe and the No. 14 Zep Ford Mustang Dark Horse team finished second after running outside of the top 20 before the rain. This was Briscoe’s second top-five and sixth top-10 of the season.

“The rain definitely helped us,” said Briscoe. “If it wasn’t for the rain we were going to literally run 24th probably. We had a couple of good restarts and the guys did a good job of understanding the rain balance. I think we learned a lot when we did it at Richmond. We needed a good turnaround day, and it definitely didn’t start that way, but I am glad that it ended up that way for sure.”

Josh Berry and the No. 4 Miner Docks Doors & More Ford Mustang Dark Horse team finished third and also benefitted from the rain. This was Berry’s second top-five and fourth top-10 of the season. “We were 20th when it was raining and then we threw some rain tires on it and did what I knew we could do and moved all the way up there. That was a lot of fun honestly,” said Berry.

Kyle Larson, driving the No. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM Camaro ZL1, finished fourth and captured his eighth top-five finish of the 2024 season.

Chris Buescher and the No. 17 Fastenal Ford Mustang Dark Horse team finished fifth. “Loudon has not been our best track,” Buscher said, “definitely not mine specifically. There was no quit in this Fastnal group today. It was awesome to come home with a top five. We were really good in the rain when it was wet.”

23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick was leading the race when the initial rain fell and ended up finishing in sixth place.

“It was a real shame we couldn’t find victory lane today in our SiriusXM Toyota Camry, but for us to take a risk and have a potential to win the race if it continued to rain and to turn that into a top-10 finish is good for our team. We will take the sixth place finish, and move on from it and get ready for the next one, but it was certainly an interesting day and a wild experience,” said Reddick

John Hunter Nemechek battled back from two laps down to finish in eighth place. “I’ll take eighth after the day we had,” Nemechek said. “I think we were stuck in 31st or 32nd pretty much all day, so solid finish for us and something that we needed. Hopefully, we can build some momentum off of this.”

Martin Truex Jr., who might have competed in his last race at New Hamshire, overcame a pit stop issue and an on-track incident to finish in ninth place.

“Definitely a tough day,” Truex explained. “We had a speed in our Reser’s Camry. It is a shame the way things worked out, but definitely happy to get a top-10. It has been a rough four weeks, so we needed a good finish. We had good stage points, and we needed a good finish; so glad that we got it, but it hurts to have a tough day here, probably being my last one.” said Truex.

Chase Elliott and the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Camaro ZL1 team started on the pole but finished 18th after an accident with Logano just before the red flag on lap 201. The Hendrick Motorsports teammates are now tied for the series standings.

Joey Logano had top-five finishes in the first two segments but finished 32nd after being involved in a multi-car incident with Elliott at the start of the final stage.

“Unfortunate end to our day after the speed we showed in the first two stages,” a disappointed Logano said. “I thought we had something to contend for the win but just didn’t pan out that way.”

Alex Bowman had engine woes on his No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet early and finished 36th.

Nasr, Cameron win the IMSA Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen

On Sunday, the No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963, with drivers Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron, survived a wet and unpredictable Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen by winning the race at Watkins Glen International.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen was the 55th anniversary of the IMSA Racing Series at the 3.4-mile, 11-turn permanent road course.

About 4 hours into the race, it was halted for almost 30 minutes due to four hours of heavy rain that made the track undrivable. But the rain let up, and the racing continued with just 16 minutes remaining.

On the restart, Nasr passed leader Louis Deletraz in the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing into Turn 1 on the restart and went on to win by 0.749 seconds over Renger van der Zande in the No. 01 Cadillac Racing Cadillac V-Series.R.

This was the second of the season for Nasr, Cameron. The No. 7 Porsche team won the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Cameron earned his 17th career IMSA top-tier series win, Nasr his 10th, and Team Penske’s 38th win.

The WeatherTech Championship returns to action with the LMP2, GTD PRO, and GTD classes racing in the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Sunday, July 13.

Class winners for the 2024 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen:

    • GTP Winner: No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport, Porsche 963 – Felipe Nasr and Dane Cameron

What went down in the NASCAR Cup Series Iowa Corn 350 powered by Ethanol

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) inaugural Iowa Corn 350 powered by Ethanol. Blaney led a career-high 201 laps to capture his first win of the season, 11th career on Sunday night. With this win, Blaney also clinched a spot in the Cup playoffs for the eighth straight season and captured Ford’s third NCS win of the season, which was 731st all-time.

Following a pit stop after the second stage, Blaney restarted 10th and worked his way up to second with less than 100 laps to go. On Lap 260, Blaney and his crew made a two-tire stop, giving Blaney the race lead off of pit road with 84 laps to go in the race. Blaney held the lead over second-place William Byron by .716 of a second for his first win in 2024, and Team Penske’s 95th series win with Ford.

“What a cool way to win here,” Blaney said. “This place means a lot to me and means a lot to my mom. We had a lot of people here tonight cheering us on, so they willed us to that one. Overall, I really appreciate the 12 boys. I mean, our car was really fast all night, and we got a little bit better through the night, and two tires was a good call there. I didn’t know how well I was going to hold on. I started to struggle a little bit at the end but had enough to hang on. I’m super proud of the effort.”

    Race Notes

    • The race was divided into three stages (70 laps/140 laps/140 laps) for the Inaugural Iowa Corn 350 powered by Ethanol at Iowa Speedway in Newton (.875-mile oval). Race winner Blaney also won Stage 1 and Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson won Stage 2. The race had eight caution periods for 49 laps, with 14 drivers on the lead lap. Third-place finisher Chase Elliott takes over the series points lead by eight points over teammate Kyle Larson, who finished 34th after contact from Suarez on Lap 220.

    What went down behind Blaney

Polesitter Larson won Stage 2 after battling back from a rear tire issue. But on Lap 220, Suarez sent the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Camaro ZL1 spinning into the outside wall on the front stretch, also collecting Denny Hamlin. Larson went down 36 laps and finished 34th, and he also lost the series points lead to teammate Elliott with nine races remaining.

William Byron led the Chevrolet teams with a runner-up finish in his Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Liberty University Camaro ZL1 for his sixth top-five finish of the season.

Elliott, driving the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Camaro ZL1, finished in the third position.

“Our balance was just right, and I thought all day we had really good long run pace, he said. “I just really struggled to get going on restarts, and just was really loose and couldn’t. Just felt like I couldn’t attack like I needed to and just lost a lot of ground. Could make good pace there at the end of a run with our NAPA Chevy, just needed to be a little closer I think to keep the pressure on and keep things rolling.”

Christopher Bell finished fourth in a backup car. After starting in the rear of the field, Bell battled back to a fourth-place finish, his fifth top-five of the season, and his fourth consecutive top-10 for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“Yeah, I mean, a top-five, is a good day,” Bell said. “Obviously, we had pace to be better than that, so that’s why I’m sitting here with mixed emotions. Great effort, and if we keep bringing cars like that, hopefully, it’ll be our day one of these times.”

    Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished fifth.

“We had a little mishap on pit road that set us back again to kind of that back row, so, we had to battle back from that,” Stenhouse explained. “Really wanted to go battle (Ryan) Blaney there. We got to second, just got a little too loose, and couldn’t hold those guys off. Really cool to do a Cup race here in Iowa after all our success and to do it in front of a great crowd.”

Joey Logano, driving the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse, finished sixth after a two-tire pitstop call and reflected on his day.

“We put ourselves in position there to win the race with the two-tire call,” he said. I just didn’t re-fire good on two. I tried to race Blaney and couldn’t hold him off and then I just kind of got swallowed up by a couple cars pretty quick. We just didn’t have enough fire-off. I think if I could have got out front, I probably would have been OK, but I couldn’t get out there.”

Josh Berry started third, led twice for 32 laps, and finished 7th for his third top-10 of the season. “That was a lot of fun, for sure. We’re going to keep digging to keep getting better,” said Berry.

Brad Keselowski finished in 10th place and captured his ninth top-10 of the season. “Our car was really good on the long runs. I liked that long run, but the short runs we just didn’t have enough speed,” Keselowski explained.

Martin Truex Jr. went down a lap early in the race but battled back for a 15th-place finish. Daniel Hemric had early contact with front nose problems and then a toe link and finished 29th.

Kyle Busch started 7th but had mechanical problems, resulting in a 35th-place finish.

“We had a strong zone Chevrolet today at Iowa Speedway but didn’t get to finish the race. Something broke in the left-rear suspension,” a disappointed Busch explained. “I don’t know if it was a toe link or what it was, but it changed the skew of the back of the car, and it was just undrivable doing that. We came in and fixed it. Rolling back out, we broke the belt, and I had no power steering. I have no idea why, but it was frustrating, for sure.”

The No. 16 Action Industries Camaro ZL1, driven by AJ Allmendinger, sustained damage after a tire issue in the first stage and finished 36th.

Heim wins the XPEL 225 at Circuit of The Americas

Corey Heim has enough fuel to capture his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) win of the season on Saturday in the XPEL 225 at Circuit of The Americas (COTA).  Heim and the Tricon Garage No. 11 Toyota led a race-high of 31 laps for his win at the 3.41-mile road course and the sixth of his NCTS career.

“On the last lap of the last restart, I stuttered a little bit on the right-handers because the fuel pick up is on the other side. The whole fuel load would go to the other side. I thought I was going to be out by the time I came around, but luckily I had a couple of left-handers at the end of the course, and I had fuel, but regardless of that, I’m super thankful for everyone at TRICON Garage, Toyota Racing.” Heim said.

“I worked my butt off for this one. With the one (road course) race a year for the Truck Series, I felt like it was just so important for me to prove my road course ability. I knew I needed to capitalize on today, and I did. After it was done with all of the late cautions, I was glad it was over, and it was time to celebrate. It definitely means a lot,” Heim added.

Teammate Taylor Gray recovered from an early penalty and stretched his fuel mileage to finish second in the Tricon’s No. 17 Toyota.  The second-place finish ties his career-best with a runner-up finish and also gives TRICON Garage their first 1-2 finish.

“I can’t thank everyone at TRICON Garage enough for bringing me a really good JBL Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. I thought I ruined our race at the beginning of the race by getting that penalty, but just can’t thank all of our guys enough. We put ourselves in position and Jeff (Hensley, crew chief) did a great job with the strategy, just couldn’t attack on those last couple of laps. Something to figure out on how to give him a little bit of a tougher race at the end, but those guys executed all day long, and we have to keep executing ourselves,” said Gray.

Ty Majeski finished third. Polesitter and rookie Connor Zilisch recovered from a lap down and finished fourth after overshooting the first turn on the first lap, and NASCAR Cup Series regular Ross Chastain rounded out the top five.

The rear-end housing broke off the No. 04 Roper Racing Chevrolet driven by Marco Andretti, bringing out the red flag and extending the race by four laps.

Heim leads the series standings by 10 points over Majeski, Tyler Ankrum is third, Gray fourth, and Rajah Caruth rounds out the top-5 in the standings after five races.

  • NASCAR Arcade Rush delivers a reimagined twist on the most legendary tracks

NASCAR Arcade Rush delivers a reimagined twist on the most legendary tracks

Get ready for the new NASCAR Arcade Rush, with a new twist to the popular racing game.  NASCAR Arcade Rush is an arcade-style racing game that still delivers petal to the metal heart-pumping action but with a reimagined twist on NASCAR’s most legendary tracks and iconic cars.

NASCAR Arcade Rush from GameMill Entertainment was released on September 15 for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox X|S, and Xbox One.

You can customize your car and your driver’s suit with thousands of combinations, making yourself and your race car a reflection of your NASCAR racing spirit.  Once you are all suited up and detailed, you can get ready to race NASCAR’s well-known tracks like Talladega, Daytona, Darlington, Martinsville, and Homestead-Miami Speedway, but in reimagined arcade style.  Twelve tracks in total are based on the real NASCAR tracks.  For NASCAR lovers and players of previous versions, such as NASCAR Heat, this game may or may not be for you.  Don’t expect to recognize the reimaged tracks; enjoy playing NASCAR, arcade-style.

NASCAR Arcade Rush features unheard-of things such as twists, jumps, nitro boost pads, hair-raising turns, and other surprises at the finish line.  The game also has several game modes to choose from, such as NACAR career, online, and local multiplayer.

After a pretty cool and loud game introduction, which gets annoying after restarting the game a few times since you cannot skip it, you will have the choice of playing solo or head-to-head multiplayer, two-player split screen, or online with up to 12 players and multiple difficulty options.  Note that local multiplayer is not available on Nintendo Switch.

Solo players can play a quick race, Cup Series, or test their skills in a time attack.  You need to play the 4-race series and gain enough XP, depending on what position you finish in, to unlock the next 12 series and other awards.  The game features a lot of unlockable content.  You begin at level one and will max out at level 100.

The gameplay, however, seems to be a little unbalanced.  You can hit nearly every blue or yellow boost, using the boost (A) sparingly, and make the perfect lap, yet your rivals always seem right on your bumper.  While it’s fun keeping your “rival” close, it’s not as gratifying as the feeling you get when you run away from the rest of the field.

NASCAR Arcade Rush offers a stable framerate, detail, quality effects, smooth controls, and decent audio effects in the game.  If you plan to use the keyboard, you will be limited, and the game works best with a gamepad.

Besides the limited control options, we believe that the price on Steam at $49.99 for the base game and $64.58 for Projext-X is a bit pricey for this game.  It was released on Steam on sale (until Sept 22) for $39.99 or $50.58 for the NASCAR Arcade Rush Project-X Edition.

At that price point, you must compare it to the higher-quality racing games, which may fall short for many racers.  But don’t let the price point deter you from the game.  The game is surprisingly an excellent, well-crafted arcade-style twist on a NASCAR racing game.

    Pros:

    • Very responsive and intuitive controls
    • Fun suit and car customizations
    • Unique track twists
    • Lots to unlock
    • Multiplayer

    Cons:

    • Lack of players
    • Lack of control options
    • Price
    • Camera angle restrictions

You can get more details on the game at NASCARArcadeRush.com

If you want more content, you can purchase the NASCAR Arcade Rush Project-X Bundle, which includes the base game and bonus content.  You get a hovercraft car model, Project-X paint scheme for the rims, wheels, and spoiler, themed driver suit and helmet, team sponsorship option, vehicle FX package, and four additional in-game emojis to showcase your style.
