    Hat Trick for Roush Fenway

In Feb. 2006, Roush Fenway accomplished one of the hardest feats in NASCAR, sweeping all three events at Auto Club Speedway. Mark Martin won in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series on Friday, followed by wins from Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NCS.

    California Love

Roush Fenway has won at ACS seven times in the Cup series dating back to 1998, when Martin earned the first victory for the organization at the two-mile oval. Since then Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards and Kenseth have earned victories at ACS for team owner Jack Roush.

    California Dreamin’

Roush Fenway won at least one race in one of NASCAR’s three major touring series at ACS for seven consecutive seasons from 2003-2009, tallying a total of 13 victories during that time frame.

Say Goodbye, Say Goodbye to Hollywood

Roush Fenway has left ACS with at least two victories during the same weekend four times, including a sweep of all three events in 2006. In addition, Roush Fenway swept both Xfinity races at ACS in 2005, while winning both the NCS and Xfinity races in the spring of that same season.

Jack Puttin’ it Down for Californ-i-a

Roush Fenway’s seven victories in the NCS at ACS are tied for sixth most in the organization’s history with Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix Raceway, Homestead-Miami Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway. ACS trails only Charlotte Motor Speedway (eight), Texas Motor Speedway (nine), Dover International Speedway (nine), Bristol Motor Speedway (11) and Michigan International Speedway (13) for the most Cup wins at one track.

    Welcome to the Hotel California

Roush Fenway has earned six victories, 25 top-five finishes, 41 top-10 finishes and an average finish of 11.8 at ACS in the Xfinity Series. Roush Fenway swept the season series at ACS in 2004 and 2005 with drivers Biffle, Martin and Edwards.

    Tale of the Tape

Roush Fenway has 125 Cup starts in Fontana with 52 top-10s, 30 top fives and seven wins. An RFR Ford has led 1441 laps at the 2-mile oval completing 28,700+ laps.

DiBenedetto/Menards Team Hoping To Continue Strong 2020 Start At Fontana

Matt DiBenedetto and his Wood Brothers team, fresh off a second-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, are headed to Auto Club Speedway with their iconic No. 21 Mustang carrying the green colors of Menards and Quaker State for the first time this season.

And DiBenedetto, who enters the weekend 10th in the Cup Series point standings, carries with him the confidence that comes from having a fast Ford at Las Vegas.

“Daytona is really its own animal,” DiBenedetto said. “Las Vegas was our first of what I’d call a normal weekend and a pretty good indicator of how we’ll be going forward.”
He said there was good communication between him, crew chief Greg Erwin, spotter Doug Campbell and the rest of the Menards team at Las Vegas throughout the weekend.

“We kept getting our cars better and got ourselves a second-place finish,” he said.
That result, coupled with his Daytona finish of 19th, put him in the top 10 in points for the first time in his Cup career.

“It’s always important to get a good points position firing off,” he said.

DiBenedetto, who scored his Cup-career-first top 10 on an intermediate track at Las Vegas, said the speed of his Menards Mustang had a lot to do with that and should be a plus this weekend as well.

“With my previous teams, my strength was usually on the short tracks and road courses,” he said “Now we have speed every week.”

The Grass Valley, Calif., native will be racing on one of his home-state tracks this weekend and says he enjoys driving on the D-shaped, two-mile track that has been hosting races since 1997.

“It’s a big track, but it’s unique in that there’s a lot of sliding around,” he said. “It’s more fun to drive when the lap times fall off.”

He said the back straightaway also is different than other tracks.

“Turns Three and Four are bumpy, but the back straightaway is like going over jumps,” he said.

Qualifying for the Auto Club 400 is set for Saturday at 11:35 a.m. (2:35 p.m. Eastern Time) and the race is scheduled to start just after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday (3:30 Eastern) with TV coverage on FOX.

Glen’s brother, Leonard, is known for inventing the modern pit stop. The team currently runs the Ford Mustang driven by Matt DiBenedetto in the famous No. 21 racer.

  • NASCAR, Elgin Sweeper Renew NASCAR Green Partnership

Unfavorable Weather No Match for ‘Official Sweeper of NASCAR Green’

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 27, 2020) – NASCAR and Elgin Sweeper announced today a multi-year partnership renewal, continuing the designation of the leading manufacturer of street sweepers, special industrial, and airport applications as the “Official Sweeper of NASCAR Green®.”

“Considering our dealers’ dedication to – and passion for – NASCAR Green’s goal of protecting the environment through sustainable practices, and our own involvement in the NASCAR culture for more than a decade, it was a logical progression to renew our partnership,” said Mike Higgins, vice president and general manager, Elgin Sweeper. “We are immensely proud of the fact that NASCAR continues to rely on Elgin Sweeper to be present at the tracks every race season to shorten rain delays and cautionary events.”

As the “Official Sweeper of NASCAR Green,” Elgin Sweeper administers a team of 17 trained, NASCAR-certified driver operators throughout the 36-week race season to help support the NASCAR Toyota Tundra Track Drying Team in drying rain-soaked tracks while saving jet fuel and reducing the sport’s overall carbon footprint.

In addition to its drying efforts, the revolutionary Crosswind Specialty Track Sweeper assists in maintaining safe racing surfaces for competitors. Designed by Elgin Sweeper exclusively for steep-banked racetracks in need of routine maintenance, race event sweeping and emergency response cleaning, the Crosswind Specialty Track Sweeper has passed the most rigorous tilt tests required. Used for high-speed sweeping during NASCAR races across the country, the machine effectively removes track debris and oil absorbent material and assists in drying wet track areas.

“Throughout our partnership, Elgin Sweeper has consistently proven to be reliable, dependable, and uniquely capable of maintaining green flag racing conditions,” said Scott Miller, senior vice president, competition, NASCAR. “Elgin Sweeper has assisted our sport in putting on numerous events after unfavorable odds and we’re happy to have them remain a part of our weekend stable.”

Elgin Sweeper’s exclusively designed Shared Power technology, the EcoInfused platform, diverts the formerly wasted energy from the sweeper’s chassis engine back to the power of the sweeper itself, which helps reduce the carbon footprint during NASCAR Cup Series™ race weekends.

The Elgin Sweeper made its NASCAR debut in 2001 at Kansas Speedway. The sweeper picks up 50 gallons of water per minute while saving roughly one gallon of diesel fuel per hour. The sweeper’s 10-foot sweep path covers the width of 1.5 race cars, helping officials get cars back on the track in record time.

For more information on the Elgin Crosswind Specialty Track Sweeper, or on Elgin Sweeper’s entire line of street sweepers, please visit www.elginsweeper.com. NASCAR fans can follow along with the Track Sweeper throughout the 2020 NASCAR season by visiting Elgin Sweeper’s Facebook page.

Fans can catch the NASCAR Cup Series Auto Club 400 from Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM.

    AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:
There were several instances last season at 1.5-mile tracks where you showed a lot of speed, particularly in qualifying. I know you worked on that throughout the season to try to transfer that to race day. You don’t get track testing during the off season, but with the new camaro and any simulation stuff that you’ve done, do you feel like you’re in a better position to start this season?
“That was a direction that some of the people at RCR thought that was the way to go. Obviously, it showed speed in qualifying, but didn’t race well. We were trying our hardest to make it race well and it just never really worked out for us last year. I would say our best race of the year was our last race of the year at Homestead, where we consistently ran inside the top-10 the whole race, drove from 22nd to the top 10 by the first segment and was able to maintain there. We’ve based most of our stuff this off season off of that car and that design, and just trying to make it better. I, personally, feel like at these 1.5-mile tracks, there’s a very good happy-medium place that you have to find in qualifying to make yourself feel good going into the race. I don’t want to be the pole guy most of the time. It worked in Michigan, I think by Joey Logano. I don’t know how many pole-sitters actually won last year, maybe Kevin Harvick was one of them. But I think with the direction we go, we aren’t really focused on qualifying as much and I think that’s a good thing. If we qualify on the pole, we weren’t trying to. But that would be nice that if that happens.”

We only go to Auto Club Speedway once a year. How much have we leaned about these cars in the year since you’ve been at Auto Club Speedway?
“We’ve learned a lot. We’ve had thoughts throughout the process of where we felt like we needed to be with our cars. We’ve done it wrong, and we’ve gotten it close. I felt like at the end of the year, the last race of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway was a good race for us. I hope that says something because Auto Club Speedway has the same type of asphalt as Homestead-Miami. The asphalt wears the tires a lot. They are both big, older tracks. I’m looking forward to taking something similar to what we had at Homestead-Miami Speedway to Auto Club Speedway and improving on our 10th-place finish from last year. We did sit on the pole last year, so that was nice.”

Are you one of the guys that gets sad when they eventually have to repave the worn out tracks?
“Yes. I did an appearance at Auto Club Speedway not too long ago and I told the track officials, ‘whatever you do, don’t repave it!’ Or, wait to repave it until you can figure out how to make an asphalt that is very similar to what is on the track now.”

Tyler Reddick and the No. 8 I Am Second Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE at Auto Club Speedway … Tyler Reddick will make his debut NASCAR Cup Series start at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. The Corning, California native has two NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, having collected one pole and two top-10 finishes at the track.

About I Am Second … I Am Second is a non-profit that ignites hope and inspires people to live for something greater than themselves. Launched in 2008, the iamsecond.com website features more than 100 powerful short films of athletes, actors, models, musicians, cultural influencers and everyday people who have found hope through a relationship with Jesus. Meet Reddick … Fans can meet Reddick when he takes part in the Auto Club Speedway Tweet-Up located at Lefty’s Fun Zone in the FanZone on Sunday, March 1, beginning at 8:45 a.m. local time.

    TYLER REDDICK QUOTES:
Is Auto Club Speedway as fun to drive as everyone says it is with all of the options in lane choice that you have there?
“Yes, Auto Club is one of my favorite tracks we visit. Last year, we ran fourth there, but it was definitely a race where if I bided by time a little bit more, I could have inherited the lead when Kyle Busch had his speeding penalty and potentially won. That’s definitely a lesson learned that I can use going back there this weekend, even in the Cup Series. I’m excited for the challenge that this No. 8 I Am Second Chevrolet will present this weekend. There really are just so many options in lane choice every lap at Auto Club, and that makes it a really fun track to race on. The straightaways are where the real fun begins, especially when everyone gets bunched up together and we start racing three or four-wide on the restarts.”

What’s the biggest challenge at Auto Club Speedway? The seams, the bumps or something else?
“It’s really a moving target as the weekend goes on. During the start of the weekend, you have to watch for the seams since it’s so slick out there. Normally, the Xfinity cars are the first ones on the track, so I’m normally very careful. Now that I’m in the Cup Series, it may be a little different. I think this weekend will be fairly similar to Las Vegas where we started out running wide open, and I’ll have to run like that until the handling starts to go away in our No. 8 I Am Second Chevrolet when you have to start lifting. Then it’ll be important to assess why the handling is changing and how to adjust our car correctly to battle that.”

Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Auto Club Speedway … In 60 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the two-mile speedway, RCR has captured two victories with drivers Jeff Burton (2007) and Austin Dillon (2016). The Welcome, N.C., organization has completed 8,721 laps of the 9,004 (96.9 percent) that they have competed. RCR has accumulated five pole awards, 20 top-five and 37 top-10 finishes, led 272 laps and averages a starting position of 10.3 and finishing position of 11.9.

Welcome, Anthony Alfredo … Anthony Alfredo will be making both his NASCAR Xfinity Series and Richard Childress Racing debut this weekend in the No. 21 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet at Auto Club Speedway.

Social Media … To keep up with the latest updates from RCR’s Xfinity Series teams, follow @RCRracing and @RCRNXS on Twitter. Updates can also be found via RCR’s Facebook Page and Instagram (@RCRracing).

Catch the Action … Coverage of this week’s Production Alliance Group 300 at Auto Club Speedway will be televised live on Saturday, February 29, beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on FOX Sports 1. It will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Anthony Alfredo and the No. 21 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro at Auto Club Speedway … Anthony Alfredo will be making his debut start in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and for Richard Childress Racing during this weekend’s Xfinity Series race at Auto Club Speedway. Alfredo has 13 previous starts in the NASCAR Truck Series, with a best finish of eighth at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May 2019.

About Anderson’s Maple Syrup … In 1928, Paul Anderson first shared the distinct taste of Wisconsin’s Northwoods by producing sweet pure maple syrup and starting a 90-year pure maple syrup tradition. Three generations later his grandson, Steve Anderson, still carries on this syrup making heritage by bottling pure maple syrup from the same sugar bush his grandfather tapped for so many years. Anderson’s Maple Syrup is pure, all natural and a healthy alternative for families. From its humble roots in Cumberland, Wisconsin; Anderson’s Maple Syrup is still made with the love your family would expect. Try Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup in coffee or tea as a sweetener, and on ice cream as a topping. Today, some of the top barbecue grillers and chefs in the country eye Anderson’s as one of the best ingredients and glazes for most meats, fruits & veggies for summertime use and ham glazes for the special occasions. From our farm to your kitchen Anderson’s can be found in grocery & specialty stores around the country. “Everything tastes better with Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup”. For more information on Anderson’s Maple Syrup, visit andersonsmaplesyrup.com, and follow Anderson’s Maple Syrup Racing on Twitter via @AndersonsMaple and on Facebook via AndersonsMapleSyrup.

Powered by Pure Fuel … The Anderson family eats, breathes, and sleeps Pure Maple Syrup. They have for over 90 years! When Steve Anderson’s sister started talking about the energy gels that she and her friends use during marathon training, he was listening. They’ve heard one common complaint – these gels are thick and even with plenty of water can be difficult to swallow and digest. It got him thinking. What is it that your body needs to keep you fueled when working out? A little research quickly revealed that the family’s passion is good for something other than breakfast. It turns out, Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup has the same nutrients that endurance athletes and mid-endurance athletes need but is easier to swallow and digest when working out. So, they put Anderson’s Organic Pure Maple Syrup in a gel packet and called it Pure Fuel. Pure because it is an All Natural, Organic Pure Maple Syrup with nothing added. It is straight from the tree to you. Fuel because it supports your performance with natural nutrients that your body needs like manganese, zinc and potassium, along with over 60 antioxidants. The most obvious source of Fuel for athletes is carbohydrate intake. Research shows that the most efficient way to replenish carbs while working out is with a combination of fructose and glucose, and guess what? Pure Maple Syrup and Pure Fuel are natural sources for these energy boosters! With Pure Fuel there is no need for chemical manipulation or additives. So, give Pure Fuel a try. The Anderson family think you’ll find that, just like Steve Anderson’s sister and her friends, this stuff works! Visit OrganicPureFuel.com to learn more.

Meet Alfredo … Anthony Alfredo is scheduled to participate in the Xfinity Series autograph session at the Fan Zone Stage on Friday, February 28, beginning at 3:30 p.m. local time.

    ANTHONY ALFREDO QUOTES:
How does it feel to be making your NASCAR Xfinity Series debut for a team like Richard Childress Racing?
“I am definitely eager to strap into the No. 21 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro for the first time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series next weekend. On top of taking the next step in my career to an even higher and more competitive level, it is a true honor to make my debut with Richard Childress Racing. I am so thankful to them for providing me with the opportunity to drive the iconic No. 21 car for most of this season. I hope to make Richard Childress Racing, my partners and my fans proud.”

You’ve never raced at Auto Club Speedway before. What are your expectations for your debut this weekend?
“I am excited to head to a new track, but I’m sure it’ll make my debut even more of a challenge since I also have never driven a NASCAR Xfinity Series car yet. With that being said, I have spent valuable time on the simulator to best prepare myself and get familiar with the track, along with how the cars drive. I am confident we have the best crew and equipment with Richard Childress Racing, so I want to take advantage of that as well as the things I’ve learned from talking with my teammates to have as successful of a first race as possible.”

Bobby Labonte Reflects On NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction

Legendary Driver Talks About the Big Night, What’s Next

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – (February 26, 2020) – Now that NASCAR legend Bobby Labonte has had a little time to rest and reflect on one of the biggest moments of his career, his recent induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame, he’s gearing up for what’s next: continuing his broadcasting career, growing his already-successful marketing and public relations agency, and possibly racing again.

On induction night, Labonte’s brother Terry, a fellow driver and a NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2016 inductee, was on hand to introduce Bobby and present him with the Hall of Fame ring. Bobby even surprised his brother by wearing the same tie that Terry wore when he was inducted. They shared a funny moment when Bobby slipped his brother a $20 bill – partial payment for all that Terry has done for him over the years.

In his induction speech, Bobby Labonte spoke about growing up in a racing family in South Texas, idolizing his brother on the racetrack, and eventually following in Terry’s footsteps.

“After all these years, I got to stand on the NASCAR Hall of Fame stage and thank my brother, our parents, my children and my wife, Kristin,” said Labonte. “That was a moment I will never forget. So many people were part of my journey to the Hall of Fame, and most of them were in the audience that night. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell them how much I appreciate them and what they mean to me.”

Labonte got his first break as a full-time Cup Series driver in 1993, and became a success in all three of NASCAR’s national series. His career highlights include 21 trips to Victory Lane and the 2000 Cup Series title. He’s also the first of four drivers to win both a Cup and Xfinity Series championship.

Of course, racing is still in Labonte’s blood, and he may not be ready to permanently hang up his fire suit. He made his modified debut at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. last year, and is open to continuing to challenge himself on the historically tough track. In 2018, he ran the full NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and returned to Europe to race in Valencia, Spain in 2019.

This season, Labonte continues in his role as a FOX NASCAR analyst for the network’s studio coverage on NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR Race Day. He also travels around the country for appearances, meeting with fans at various venues and events.

“I am excited to be going into my fourth year with FS1, NASCAR Race Hub and NASCAR Race Day. I get to report on and discuss the sport I love, with people and fans I really enjoy,” said Labonte. “The transition has been a natural one for me because we all work well together and I love being part of a great team.”

Labonte is also a successful businessman, serving as CEO of Breaking Limits, a full-service marketing and public relations agency he manages with his wife, Kristin. He and his brother, Terry, also own Longhorn Chassis, a leading manufacturer of Late Model and Modified chassis.

    About Bobby Labonte
Bobby Labonte is not only a successful NASCAR driver and NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductee, he is also a successful television race analyst, businessman, and philanthropist. Labonte is in his fourth year as a race analyst for FS1. He currently owns Breaking Limits, a full-service marketing, public relations, sponsorship, and events agency, he’s a co-owner of Longhorn Chassis, a successful dirt late model and modified chassis and fabrication business and he leads the Bobby Labonte Foundation, which works in partnership with the local community to empower parents, families, and children to build a strong foundation for childrens’ futures.

FORD PERFORMANCE NASCAR: AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY NOTES

Fresh off its Sunday doubleheader sweep at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Ford Performance and its teams stay out west for the middle stop of NASCAR’s three-week western swing at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. Ford has 21 combined wins between the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series since the track opened in 1997. Here’s a look at some Ford highlights through the years.

FORD IN THE NASCAR CUP SERIES AT AUTO CLUB

    · Ford has 11 series wins at Auto Club Speedway with the last being in 2015 by Brad Keselowski.

    · The only Ford driver with more than one Auto Club win is Matt Kenseth with three.

    · Jack Roush has 7 career series wins at Auto Club Speedway.

FORD IN THE NASCAR XFINITY SERIES AT AUTO CLUB

    · Ford has 10 all-time NXS wins at Auto Club.

    · Car owner Jack Roush won six straight events from 2003-06.

    · Ford has won the last two series races (Joey Logano and Cole Custer)

FORD DRIVERS ON TOP OF THE STANDINGS

The season is only two races old, but Ford’s good start can be found in both the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series standings, where Ford drivers sit on top. Ryan Blaney is the points leader in Cup, followed by Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick, respectively, while Chase Briscoe, fresh off his win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, leads the XFINITY Series.

KESELOWSKI LEADS ONLY LAP THAT COUNTS

Thanks to a pair of cautions that resulted in two green-white-checker restarts, and a gamble by crew chief Paul Wolfe in the closing laps, Brad Keselowski came out of nowhere to win the Auto Club 400 in 2015. Kurt Busch looked ticketed for victory as he led the field coming to the white flag, but caution for debris came out before he crossed the start-finish line, resulting in a green-white-checker finish and a flurry of action on pit road. The decision for crew chiefs was whether to take two or four tires, and most of the leaders decided on two. Wolfe saw that and felt the only way his team could win was if they did something different, so he ordered four. Even though it put them back in 17th on the ensuing restart, the fresh tires enabled him to charge up to sixth on the restart. When the rear bumper of Kyle Larson’s Chevrolet flew off and brought out another caution, it set up Keselowski who had the freshest tires and made all the right moves on the restart to get past Harvick and Busch to win for the 17th time in his career.

KENSETH GOES 2-FOR-2 TO START 2009

Matt Kenseth followed up his first Daytona 500 victory by taking the checkered flag in the Auto Club 500 one week later on Feb. 22, 2009. Kenseth became the fifth driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to follow a Daytona 500 victory with another win the following week. On this day, he and Jeff Gordon had the two best cars on the track, but Kenseth’s advantage came on pit road, where his crew continually got him out first. Kenseth led a race-high 84 laps as he went on to post his third all-time win at the two-mile track.

BIFFLE RALLIES FROM ONE LAP DOWN

Despite falling a lap down, Greg Biffle found a way to not only get back to the front, but hold off a charging Jimmie Johnson to win the Auto Club 500 on Feb. 27, 2005. Biffle led a parade of four Roush Fords in the Top 10 as Kurt Busch finished third, Carl Edwards fifth and Mark Martin seventh. Biffle put himself in position to win when he stayed out on what proved to be the final caution of the day. Busch had the lead on the restart with 29 laps to go, but Biffle was able to pass him six circuits later. Even though he scraped the wall on a couple of occasions down the stretch, he managed to coax an ill-handling Taurus to his fourth series win.

    ON THE MARK

Ford got its first checkered flag at Auto Club Speedway in the track’s second year of existence when Mark Martin won the NASCAR Cup Series race on May 3, 1998. Martin was in a class by himself that afternoon as he led 165 of the 200 laps en route to what was his 25th career victory. In all, six Fords finished in the top-10 as Jeremy Mayfield finished second, Chad Little, Geoffrey Bodine, and Johnny Benson were sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, while Jeff Burton ended up 10th.

    Express Notes:

Las Vegas Recap: Denny Hamlin finished 17th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, unable to overcome an ill-handling #11 FedEx Ground Toyota in the race won by Joey Logano. Hamlin lined up fourth on the grid, but had to drop to the back of the field after the team was penalized for a technical inspection violation. At the drop of the green flag, Hamlin began reporting that the car was extremely loose, and he felt like he was driving on ice. As the race progressed, the FedEx crew made significant adjustments to the chassis during each pit stop, but Hamlin continued to struggle with the handling. Despite best efforts from Denny and crew, the FedEx11 team sat in 17th place as Logano took the checkered flag.

Fontana Preview: Continuing on the West Coast swing, the series heads to Fontana, Calif., for Sunday’s 400-mile race at Auto Club Speedway. After 18 career starts at the Southern California track, Hamlin has recorded two top-five finishes, seven top-10 finishes and three pole positions, as well as a career-best finish of third (2008 and 2016). Following a disappointing performance in Las Vegas, Hamlin and team will be looking for Hamlin’s second win of 2020, thus moving forward in the standings, where Hamlin currently ranks ninth two races into the season. The #11 FedEx Toyota will promote the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest on the TV panel of the car for this weekend’s race in Las Vegas. The reminder encourages small business owners to apply for a collective prize pool of more than $250,000 by the entry deadline of March 2nd at www.fedex.com/grantcontest.

    Hamlin Conversation – Fontana:

What are you most focused on moving forward as the series heads to Fontana this weekend?

“We just need to get back on track. We obviously started off the season with a bang in Daytona, and then had a little hiccup in Las Vegas. We know what we need to do to win, and we’re focused on the next race. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back up front at Fontana.”

How do you bounce back after a disappointing effort in Las Vegas this past weekend?

“It was just a tough day all the way around for our FedEx team. We just didn’t have a good handle on the car throughout the entire race. We finally worked our way up into the top 15, and the pit road speeding penalty killed our chances of any kind of decent finish. We just need to regroup and get the car ready to go for next weekend.”
