  • How NASCAR Has Used the Growth of Social Media to Their Advantage

How NASCAR Has Used the Growth of Social Media to Their Advantage

The rise in popularity of social media over recent decades has provided a wealth of opportunities for businesses and organizations to spread brand awareness and increase their customer base. Social media use has become ubiquitous amongst all businesses and industries, and the world of sport is no different. NASCAR is a perfect example of a sports organization that’s made best use of social media for their own advantage, having implemented several initiatives over the years.

One way in which they maximize the use of social media to improve the experience of their fans, and thus increase their following, is by setting very relaxed guidelines on the use of social media by their drivers on race day. This lies in stark contrast to most other sports, where athletes are given strict limitations on how and when they can use social media before big events, if they’re allowed to at all. This allows fans to connect with drivers right up until the race lights turn green, which fosters a feeling of connectedness and excitement.

NASCAR has been implementing social media initiatives for several years now. For example, in May 2012, NASCAR engaged in a partnership with Twitter to create a dedicated platform to collate and share the tweets of fans, drivers and other members of the media. The final product, Twitter.com/#NASCAR, was a great success, offering fresh, engaging content to fans and media alike. As shown from research by Findbettingsites.co.uk, social media is a huge part of everyday life, with 2 million users active on platforms like Facebook every hour.

Another 2012 initiative was the release of the first official NASCAR iPhone application by NASCAR, Sprint and Turner sports, dubbed the “NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile App”. The app enabled quick and easy access to a wealth of NASCAR content, which led to measurable increases in the number of new fans acquired and the further engagement of those already bought-in. Some of the features included race day news feeds, standings, schedules, and a wealth of other race-day material.

Recognizing the use of mobile phones and social media in fan participation, NASCAR also invested in wireless connectivity infrastructure developments across a number of its tracks. This further enhanced the ability of fans to access race-day content and feel connected to the events.

Two further examples of Nascar social media initiatives were implemented in 2016. The first involved a partnership with snapchat to create two live stories during the “2016 Chase for the Nascar Sprint Cup”. This was a brilliant move, providing Nascar another platform for delivering entertaining behind-the-scenes and race-day content.

The second of these two 2016 initiatives was also implemented during the “2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup”. It involved a five-part digital action film series, shared on NASCAR’s website and social media channels. The film series was designed to retell The Chase in an exciting, story-like format, offering content based on actual events, but with an engaging, action-based narrative.

These are just several examples demonstrating how NASCAR have used the growth of social media to their advantage. Their marketing approach has become heavily based on social media over the years, and it’s easy to see why, with social media enabling such great race-day content and intimate access to the sports’ drivers.

  • Pocono Green 250 validates Xfinity visit to the Poconos

Pocono Green 250 validates Xfinity visit to the Poconos

It’s easy to shout this from the rooftops. The NASCAR Xfinity Series needs, needs, needs, more standalone events. There’s Iowa, Road America, Mid-Ohio…and that’s really all.

Every other event is a companion event to a Cup Series event and although that’s been a given since the inception of the series, it’s nice to see a division keep its own identity like the Gander Outdoor Truck Series or the K&N Pro Series. Not every event needs a companion event, even if the times are changing.

That said, those words were eaten Saturday when Cole Custer made it past Tyler Reddick for the win in the Pocono Green 250. For the first time since the event began in 2016, a series regular won the event and in a dramatic fashion, no less. Although Custer started from the pole and led the most laps, it was until the last corner of the last lap when leader Reddick slipped up and allowed Custer to steal his third win of the season, tying him with Christopher Bell for most wins in 2019.

The race also highlighted what is now looking like the Big Three of the division for 2019, which is Bell, Reddick, and Custer. All three are regulars with multiple wins this season and all look like serious threats for the title. There’s Bell, a regular threat who is good everywhere and happens to be an 11-time race winner and ahead of him in points is Reddick, who is in the midst of a nine-race streak of top-four finishes. Then there is Custer, who has also won at Fontana and Richmond. Besides those three, there are no clear-cut favorites for the title at this point in time.

Pocono set those storylines in stone because for once at Pocono, it was all about the series regulars. The Xfinity Series was actually maintaining its own identity Saturday, which is something that it hasn’t done in a while. It was about the Big Three, but it was also about the JR Motorsports drivers. It was also Bell’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammates, who along with Bell, found themselves in a few spots of trouble as Brandon Jones crashed and finished last while Jeffrey Earnhardt spun along with the No. 22 of Cindric.

It wasn’t about Kyle Larson, or Brad Keselowski, or Kyle Busch, the previous three Pocono Green 250 winners. There was actual racing without the certain dread that another Cup driver was going to score another dull, drab win. It was a race that fans could actually watch and observe actual rising talent. It was almost like the old days when there was actually time invested in watching the up-and-comers of NASCAR. It was almost like a standalone event.

This is the kind of thing the Xfinity Series needs to have more often; racing among regulars. It’s been pointed out and proven many, many times that when the field is left to its own devices and its own regulars, the racing can be phenomenal. At this point, it isn’t about the track, it’s about the quality of the field.

That’s not a knock on the Xfinity Series. It’s already known that a lot of the drivers aren’t as good as the Cup Series, but they’re learning. They are hungry. NASCAR needs to cultivate that aspect of the Xfinity Series. They are hungry and they will actually race to get that glory. That’s what the Xfinity Series should be about. It isn’t about the sport’s current leaders; that’s the Monster Energy Cup Series’s concern. The Xfinity Series should instead be concerned with cultivating the Custers, Reddicks, and Bells.

They actually accomplished that Saturday when it wasn’t about the venue for once, but the personalities in the division. The sport needs to and can grow on this.

  • Nine Point Checklist To Get Cheap Insurance For Young Drivers

Nine Point Checklist To Get Cheap Insurance For Young Drivers

If you are wondering how to get a cheap insurance for young drivers then this nine-point checklist will provide you with a lot of insights to get the best cover at the most affordable insurance premium. Young drivers all over the world are statistically more at a risk of facing an accident and in most of the times it can be fatal.

Therefore, insurance companies consider such insurances highly likely to be claimed and therefore are more cautious while determining the rate of premium, the inclusions and exclusions in the policy and much more. All these have a serious and a knock-on effect such as:

    • It may send the car insurance costs of any young driver sky high
    • This will also make you think that getting the cheapest car insurance for young drivers is almost an impossible task and
    • You may feel that including such insurance in your policy will be the most feasible way to go ahead which will also send your premium soaring.

However, the good news is that fortunately there are lots of ways in which you can keep the costs of such car insurance down apart from the most obvious one: picking the right carwith lots of safety features and increasing your excess.

    The tips to follow

These tips go back to basics of car insurance and will give you a lot of scope and confidence to consider a large number of insurers and their options and not rely only on those that offer ‘pay as your drive’ or telematics insurance.

    • Start by picking one of the cheapest cars to insure for a young driver when you are looking for your first car. This will be the biggest factor to determine the cost of car insurance. You must know that all types of cars that are available on the market typically belong to one of the fifty different car insurance companies. However, the cheapest cars to insure for young or new drivers may be found among the top five such groups. This factor is most important for the young male or female drivers that drive fast cars which are normally more expensive.
    • Next, you should focus on the car modifications and steer clear of it. These modifications include things like body kits and alloy wheels that often appeal to the young drivers especially those drivers who want to personalize those medium sized cars and those simple looking hatchbacks. If you want the best insurance for young drivers you should characteristically avoid these modifications because these are known to raise the insurance premiums by hundreds of dollars. Once again, this is another important aspect that the young drivers in love with fast cars and want to own one should be more aware of. If you are heel-bent to modify your car, consider replacing the modified parts with cheaper versions of it and be happy with it or be ready to pay much higher costs of the premiums otherwise.
    • Know and consider the black box policy which is also known as telematics when you consider the insurance policy for young drivers. This is a small device or an app that is installed in the car that helps to monitor the driving behavior and usage. This will surely help you to lower down the insurance cost by a significant margin because the insurers determine the rate based on the actual driving behavior instead of generalizing every young driver as a high risk candidate to make a claim. If you choose a black box insurance policy over a standard policy you could save more than a thousand dollar on an average.
    • Make sure that your policy has the option of paying per year and not per month even though it is obvious that paying the insurance premium at one time may be quite a burden to you. Even though you will need to shell out a lot of money at one go, you will ultimately save a lot of money this way making your car insurance far cheaper as compared to staggering the payment over the whole year. Ideally, this will save you the monthly interest charges which can really be a substantial amount.
    • Consider increasing your excess as and when possible in addition to the mandatory excess that you have quoted. This will reduce the cost of your car insurance significantly. However, you must make sure that you can afford to and have the required resource to make such excess payments because most of the time young drivers struggle to stump up an extra payment after a car crash. Moreover, you must also make sure that you do not end up raising the voluntary excess higher early on considering the fact that the young drivers are most likely to make a claim within the first year of driving.
    • Also consider the level of cover you need. If you go for comprehensive car cover it will be most expensive because it will cover your car as well as the others involved in the accident. Typically you should go for the third party cover which is the most basic one that will covers claims made against you if injure someone in an accident apart from the cost of repairs replacements in the car of the other person and not your own.
    • When it comes to third-party cover, do not assume it will be the best insurance for young drivers and therefore make it a point that you compare quotes. You must also assess how frequently you plan to drive, the distance and area when you consider a car insurance policy.
    • Make sure that you add a named driver but avoid ‘fronting’ to reduce car insurance costs. Add a person who is older and more experienced driver than you but do not put the policy in your parent’s name while you are the main driver. This is ‘fronting’ and is illegal that can result in rejection of claims by the insurers.

Lastly, increase security features to limit risk to make your car insurance cheaper.

  • Gain mileage in pocket-friendly branding by using vehicle wraps

Gain mileage in pocket-friendly branding by using vehicle wraps

Brand building is of utmost importance for any business and more so for small businesses that face stiff competition to get a toe hold in the intensely competitive market. The time and effort that entrepreneurs devote to business are critical for implementing the ideas to take the business forward, but perhaps more critical are the efforts in branding by improving brand visibility.  When people are aware of your brand, they come to know about your business too, and herein is the importance of branding.

Selecting the right strategy for building brand identity and generating awareness is what small business owners must do with some careful thought because it must fit within the budget. Small businesses go through various financial hardships, and spending on brand building through wide publicity can become quite challenging. Since advertising is costly and remains a far-fetched option for small business owners, a cheaper and effective alternative is to use the car as a mobile advertising tool. Vehicle advertising wraps can greatly help to enhance brand visibility as the car displaying the brand and logo moves around and grabs widespread attention.

To know how CL Visual print and branding can help in building brands in the most cost-effective manner, keep reading this article.

    High visibility when moving around

Car wraps or decals painted attractively with the brand message and logo can make heads turn as the car fleets through busy streets or halts at traffic signals.  People all around you would get a view of the brand that reaches closest to them as the car crosses them within close distance. Pedestrians, as well as other car drivers and passengers, would be in full view of your car that carries your business advertisement. The brand gains wide exposure in a short time by spending the least money because you need to spend only in creating the car wrap printed with the advertorial material and gasoline top gain visibility.

The brand is visible even when the car is standing still

Although driving the car around allows you to carry the brand along with you and get closest to the audience, the visibility remains intact even when you keep the vehicle parked at a place. This is an example of passive advertising that helps to gain mileage in branding by cleverly parking the vehicle at strategic places like some commercial locations so that it receives maximum exposure.

Gain more exposure by driving on highways

To expand your advertising reach, drive the vehicle along highways that give access to a larger geographical area.  The drive would cost you much less as compared to any standard advertising by hiring billboards or buying air time on radio or television because it is only the cost of gasoline that you pay for. It is a great way to take your brand to places that you could not have accessed without spending more money.

Car wraps are not only cost-effective advertising but also pays back very well in the long term because it remains usable as long as you do not think about replacing or removing it.

  • Selecting the best dirt/motocross bike gear service provider – Things to keep in mind

Selecting the best dirt/motocross bike gear service provider – Things to keep in mind

Adventure sports excite many people! However, you need to get adequately prepared in terms of physical fitness and external gears, to be able to enjoy an adventure sport. Dirt/motocross biking is one of the most popular adventure sports that you can say yes to once you’ve arranged for all the sports accessories and gears. It means once you’ve had the necessary training and the sports gear, like the helmet, goggles, boots, and gloves, you can plan your ride or tour accordingly.

Here it is essential to source all the sports from an expert MX Gear service provider online. Selecting a service provider is challenging! Today, many online brands are specializing in motocross/dirt bike gears with impressive website. But it is important to sieve through the look and appearance of the site and identify whether it is the best service provider or not. Discussed below are a few guidelines that will help you to choose the best service provider.

    1. Decide on your bike ride level

Are you a beginner? If yes, then you will be given a beginner’s level of motocross/dirt bike ride. On the other hand, if you are a pro and have good experience in this sport, you can choose your bike ride level. If you want you can also opt-in for a tour which lasts for a few days. For this, there will be certain gears that you can’t do without. Hence, you need to first decide on the riding level. Once you do that, you know the gears you like. For instance, if you are a beginner, you need to get a helmet, boots, gloves, and goggles for starters. You can add more to your list based on your requirements.

    • Research on the service provider

Thanks to internet technologies and advancement, today, it’s very easy to create a website. However, an exclusive website never guaranteed quality products. Hence, it is essential to do your research on the service provider. You can draw up a list of three to five service providers. That way, you can browse through each of the websites and check the details. Once you get convinced about a website, you can then decide to purchase your bike gear from that site. But first, you need to research extensively and do a comparative study of the best service providers listed online.

    • Scan the website details

Today, online forgeries have become very common. Hence, to know whether a website is authentic or not, you need to scan it extensively. Check the product pages, the URL address, the contact details, product categories, the picture gallery, about the company, and other information. If you find anything questionable in the display of the website, then probably it is not the best website for you. Never place an online order with a site that offers you only an online payment channel and a vague email address. The contact details, email address, phone number, and address need to get verified before you place a product request.

    • Study the product page extensively

Most enthusiastic motocross/dirt bike riders in urgency to experience their ride, buy the bike gears in complete haste. Make sure to check the products page entirely before you place an order. For instance, if you are searching for a full faced helmet, make sure that you read through all the product specifications carefully. You also need to measure your head space and tally with the size of the helmet and then place the order. Some of the details to check are the size, the material used, the aftercare details, color, and designs available and also the product warranty details.

    • Check with the service provider for any query

Today, there are many online dirt/motocross bike gear service provider who showcases their products online. If you are buying your bike gear from an online service provider for the first time, you might have some queries concerning the product authenticity, exchange, refund, payment channels, payment types and the like. You have the option to send a question to the service provider via an email. Sometimes, potential customers also choose to dial the contact number.

In both cases, an expert and professional service provider will address the customers query with a prompt response. Once you get the desired reply that can guide you to better product selection, you can decide which product to opt-in for. Most online service providers have their customer care help desk at your service round the clock. However, if you have a query and you’ve shared it with the company, and you’ve received no response, then you need to look out for some other company. The same applies if you are not getting through the customer care number for a few days.

    • Compare the product quality with other websites

It is always essential to buy the best bike gear online. For this, you need to compare the products before you make a purchase. You can compare the product, features, durability, certifications, warranty, look and appearance of the dirt bike gears like jersey, bike pants, boots, elbow graces, gloves and the like, to ensure you are opting in for the best product. Some websites also mention the public ratings and reviews along with the products. You can read through the same and decide which product might be the apt choice for you.

    • Compare the money involved

It is always better to say yes to an online deal that helps you to add to your savings! Make price comparisons to know which website offers you the best product price that justify the product features. Online delivery also has other costs like delivery charges, shipping charges, tax, and many more. If you find that a company is charging an excessive amount of delivery charges, you can drop the idea of purchasing from this company.

These are some of the ways in which you can make sure that you choose the best dirt bike gear service provider online. Once you follow these steps, you can also add other guidelines that you find is helpful and select the best name to partner with.

  • What To Know Before Using a DC-DC Charger

What To Know Before Using a DC-DC Charger

Having a car can be considered as a necessity today. When you own one, you’ll be able to travel to different places without minding the availability of public transportation.

Since a car is usually made of a dual battery system, you need to know the kind of charger you’re using along with it. The performance of your battery chargers (DC-DC) can make or break the performance of your car in the long run.

Your car is your investment which is why you should exert time and effort in taking care of it. Aside from having regular maintenance checkups, using the right DC-DC charger can definitely improve the lifespan of your car.

Here are some things you should know before using a DC-DC charger:

    1.    Different car batteries require different chargers.

Regardless if you bought your car last year or five years ago, expect that car batteries will work the same way. Car batteries have the same purpose, but this doesn’t mean that one type of battery charger works for all car batteries.

The most common batteries found in cars today are composed of lead-acid, sealed maintenance free in Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) separators, or Gel cell batteries. Take time to assess what kind of battery or batteries your car has and make sure that you use a battery charger suitable for it. Using a battery charger that doesn’t match your car batteries can lead to damage and even injuries.

    2.    Pay attention to the peak amperes.

As a car owner or mechanic, you have to be aware of how your car batteries work. This knowledge is vital so you can better take care of your car, diagnose any battery-related problems, and have it repaired as soon as possible. Once you know what type of battery charger to use for your car battery, it’s now time to know how battery chargers work.

To know better about your car battery charger, research about peak amperes. This is the measurement of the highest peak of current which can be drawn from a car battery charger without damaging it. Contrary to popular belief, peak amperes indicate the quality of the components of the car battery charger, not its charging capability.

    3.    It’s important to determine the average charging time.

Your car batteries will be damaged once it’s overcharged. Sure, all car batteries have the same function, but keep in mind that each of these car batteries has a its own current requirement.

If you don’t want your car batteries or DC-DC charger to be damaged, determine how many hours your car batteries should be charged. Generally, a car battery chargers take about 2 to 10 hours, but it’s always better if you do your own research. Determine how long your car batteries should be charged and make sure that you follow the time required.

Because car battery chargers now come in a wide variety of options, you can buy one which can charge faster than the usual. This product will save you time and energy because you won’t have to wait as long just to start your car. However, because of its improved features, expect that a fast-charging charger will cost more.

    4.    Portability won’t become an issue.

As mentioned, car battery charges come in different sizes and designs. Regardless if you’re looking for one which can be used in your garage or can be carried around anywhere, you can quickly buy the most suitable car battery charger in the market.

If weight and size are important deciding factors to you, prepare a bigger amount when you’re looking for a portable car battery charger. More often than not, the lighter the car battery charger is, the more expensive it is.

    5.    Assess the ease of use.

While some drivers are adept to the mechanism and maintenance of their cars, others aren’t. If you’re one of the latter, make sure that you choose a car battery charger which is easy to use – if possible, one which comes with a detailed and informative instruction manual. Controls should also be easy to understand and comes with a list of safety considerations, as well.

    Think Long-Term

A car can only provide convenience to you and your family when it’s working properly. If you always experience being stuck on the road because of a dead battery, you’ll probably regret buying a car. Steer away from this direction by using the best DC-DC charger for your needs. Make sure that you only purchase from reputable brands so you can have the best experience with your car in the long run!

  • Celebrities who also race cars

    Celebrities who also race cars

All of the high horsepower and adrenaline junkies understand the feeling of being in the driver’s seat of a sports car. The road stays behind you, and the only thing you can hear is the sound of driving and the screeching tires. But we have to admit, there is nothing that goes hand in hand as celebrities and race cars. However, while everyone is into it, there is only a handful of skilled drivers. Being rich and famous, everyone can spend a lot of money on buying expensive cars. But knowing how to handle them, that’s a horse of another color. And what a horse it is! With that in mind, I decided to pay respect to all celebrities who also race cars. There are many big names, but let’s look who climbed the top of the list!

    Celebrities who also race cars

If you are into racing and cars, you belong to a world not everyone can understand and cherish. While your friends may complain you ramble too much about motorsport information and high-speed cars, now it’s time to relax and enjoy something you like and respect. Let’s see who of the rich and famous shares the same passion as you.

    Jason Priestley

Do you remember Brandon Walsh? Younger generations may not know this name, but the hit TV star of the television series Beverly Hills, 90210, has a special place in the hart of those who remember him. He was interested in racing since his 20s and was very successful. He raced in SCCA Pro Rally, IMSA GTS, and he also participated in the first Gambol 3000, among many other celebrities who also race cars. Some of his babies were Celica All-Trac and Lotus Esprit, but he also drove many Mustangs.

Among Celica and Lotus, Jason drove many Mustangs as well

His driving career came to an abrupt end in 2002. During a race in Indy Pro Series, he hit the wall at 180 mph and injured his spine.

    Rowan Atkinson

I moved from Illinois to Seattle a few weeks ago. It was a complicated move, but we finally pulled it through. If you ever relocated, you know the hardships and stress that accompany the entire process. So, if you have any cheerful moments, you should use them to lift everyone’s spirit. The morning started in a rush and Verified Movers came to pick us up. We hit the road around 10 AM, and we were soon on I-94 W. At this point you are probably wondering why am I boring you with unimportant details about my move.

As we were driving, past us drove a well familiar car, a yellow one British Leyland Mini. Just like the one that Rowan Atkinson’s character, Mr. Bean, drove in the popular series! I couldn’t believe my own eyes! If you’ve watched his show, you’ll know what car I’m talking about. As soon as I saw it, I immediately imagined Mr. Bean driving our moving truck! I bet that would be a move to remember!

Rowan Atkinson owns a luxury collection of racing cars

Rowan Atkinson is one of the more familiar celebrities who also race cars. A huge connoisseur of racing cars, he owns a collection of luxury vehicles, like Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato, McLaren F1, Acura NSX, 1939 BMW 328, Aston Martin DB2. The list goes on, but you get the point. While he did crash his McLaren F1 two times, he is still a superb driver. Not many people know, but he owns many classes of commercial and racing licenses. Furthermore, he competed in the single-make Renault 5 GT Turbo series for two seasons in a row. While Mr. Bean is a silly character, Rowan Atkinson certainly deserves respect for both the comedy and his driving skills.

    Patrick Dempsey

Number one hottie of The Grays Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey, knows more than just how to attract girls. A constant competitor since his early age, he is a truly enthusiastic driver. He recently said he could easily quit acting, and devote himself only to racing. So far he competed in 24 Hours of LeMans, 24 Hours of Daytona, and the Baja 1000. Furthermore, now he owns and competes in Indy Car. Even though there are more skilled celebrities who also race cars, we can clearly see the passion he has for racing.

    James Dean

We can’t really talk about celebrities who also race cars, without mentioning some of the biggest names who, unfortunately, are not with us any longer. The first on the list must be James Dean. He was a natural born driver. His talent and ability were proven many times, but he was cut in the prime of his life before really exploring his potential. His sudden death in 1955 was a shock to everyone. James Dean died in a tragic car accident while going to the car races in Salinas.

    Steve McQueen

Another phenomenal actor who liked the rush of the speed is Steve McQueen. He was a great enthusiast when it comes to motorcycle and car races. It was only natural for him to perform all car stunts in his movies. Although there were some cases when they used a stunt driver, it was mostly because of the insurance. However, it was not easy to find someone who was as skilled in driving as Steve. There was even a case when they used special effects so that he could chase himself on a motorcycle during filming a movie.

He competed in the Baja 1000 and International Endro on a Triumph. In 1978, he was inducted into the Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Paul Newman had a R30 Skyline named after him

    Paul Newman

Who else to complete the list of celebrities who also race cars but Paul Newman. One of the rare actors who had to thank his job profession for his passion for driving. After starring in 1969s sports drama Winning, where he played a race car driver, he was sucked in into the life of cars and races. Some of his biggest successes are four national championships in SCCA. Furthermore, he also raced in Trans-Am series and was first in his class. In 1979 he was second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He liked racing so much, they even have a special edition R30 Skyline named after Paul. He was inducted into the SCCA Hall of Fame in 2009.

Predictions, Odds, and Preview of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series: May/June Edition

We’re back in the middle of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (the 71st season!), with May and June giving fans some of the flagship editions we always look forward to. Every year we witness surprising underdog stories, the fall of titans, and some epic racing that reminds us why we love this sport.

Strap yourselves in for our thoughts and predictions on May and June’s upcoming Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Considering it’s the first race around the corner, we’re going to do a deep-dive analysis on the Coca-Cola 600, while also quickly previewing the Pocono 400 and the FireKeepers Casino 400.

    Coca-Cola 600

    When? Sunday, May 26, 2019 – 6:00 PM

    Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway

The takeaway from last week’s All-Star Race? Anything can happen in a race. If you had a look at all the predictions and odds before the All-Stars lined up, you probably didn’t put money on eventual winner Kyle Larson (we didn’t either!). Even sophisticated computer models didn’t predict his win. We’re confident he doesn’t really care that no one thought he’d make it; after all, he now has a million bucks to distract himself with.

Larson is probably still sipping on his victory champagne from the All-Star Race, but he won’t have time to celebrate for long. The Coca-Cola 600 is coming up this Sunday. Based on the All-Star performances across the board, we’re thinking that Larson, Johnson, Harvick, and Busch will perform once again. As WSN reported on their NASCAR predictor series, however, All-Star performance isn’t always a good indication of future performance. And we have to bear in mind that this was a race with no points at stake, so strategies differ. Even so, this Fantastic Four showed some solid stuff on the racetrack, so we’re confident they’re in with a shot.

Our pick to win, however? That’s Martin Truex Jr., who has walked away the winner in five of the last eleven editions. If you use similar races as a benchmark, he leads in laps led, driver rating, and average finishing position. While it’s no guarantee, he’s bound to put up a solid performance.

As a little side note, we’re also liking that NASCAR is going to run a 30-second remembrance moment for Memorial Day. It’s super important we continue to honour those who have made sacrifices for us; props to NASCAR for thinking the same thing.

    Pocono 400

    When? Sunday, June 2, 2019 – 2:00 PM

    Location: Pocono Raceway

We’ve had Charlotte Motor Speedway dominate for three races on the bounce, now it’s time to head over to the Pocono Raceway, aka the Tricky Triangle, for the Pocono 400. The qualifying races have been moved to June 1; we’re looking forward to finding out who will line up for the final proper.

Last year, Martin Truex Jr. managed to take home the honours. Will our pick for the Coca-Cola 600 manage to do it again? Considering the winner of this race doesn’t usually win the Pocono 400 as well, we’re going to say it’ll be a no. Unless, of course, we’re wrong about the 600! Which is entirely possible…

    FireKeepers Casino 400

    When? Sunday, June 9, 2019 – 2:00 PM

    Location: Michigan International Speedway

400 miles of high-quality racing. One of only two races NASCAR Cup Series races in Michigan. And with it often happening on Father’s Day weekend, it usually delivers the best present a man could want (although not this year, boo!). Nevertheless, we’re willing to bet that plenty of dads will be dragging their families to this race regardless!

What we’re really looking forward to, perhaps selfishly, is the promise of an improved fan experience in 2019. With some of us arriving with the whole family in tow, it’s good to know the kids can enjoy live bands, other acts, and fireworks. The whole event has also been set up to be friendlier in general, which should be fantastic for building hype for the event and attracting a range of fans.

And there you have it. Three incredible races featuring some of the best athletes (yes, they’re athletes!) in the world; we can’t wait.
