Crew chief Mike Beam on racing at Chicagoland Speedway:

“We finished second their earlier this year so hopefully we can improve that position by one spot. Justin Allgaier 2011 Season

No. 31 BRANDT News and Notes

Defending Chicagoland Winner… Justin Allgaier is the defending NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) winner at Chicagoland Speedway. This past June he claimed victory by saving enough fuel and coasting to the finish line to earn his second-career NNS victory. Having never finished outside the top-10, he has earned one victory, one top-five and three top-10 finishes in just three career starts at the 1.5-mile oval. He has an average start of 11th with an average finish of seventh along with a 100% lap completion rate.

Home Again, Home Again… Allgaier, hails from Riverton, Ill., about 2.5-hours from Chicagoland Speedway. The 25-year-old, who got his start racing quarter-midgets throughout the Midwest, progressed through the ARCA Racing Series and made his NNS debut in 2008. Since then he has captured two wins, three poles, 17 top-five and 46 top-10 NNS finishes.

Allgaier Heads to Chicagoland Fifth in Points… Allgaier heads to Chicagoland in fifth-place in the NNS championship point standings after his ninth-place finish at Richmond International Raceway. He is 75 points behind leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. All three championship-contending Turner Motorsports drivers are currently in the top-10, with Reed Sorenson in third and Jason Leffler in sixth-place.

This Week’s Impala… The No. 31 BRANDT Chevy team will hit the track with chassis TMS-121 this Saturday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway for the Dollar General 300. This chassis claimed victory at Chicagoland earlier this spring. In five starts this season, this chassis has notched one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes.

In the Loop… Thus far in 2011, Allgaier ranks among the top-10 in several of NASCAR’s Loop Data statistics: Quality Passes (3rd), Fastest on Restarts (6th), Laps in the Top-15 (6th), Average Running Position (8th), Percentage of Laps Run on the Lead Lap (8th), Fastest Speed in Traffic (9th), Fastest Early in the Run (10th) and Fastest Late in the Run (10th).

Turner Motorsports In the Hunt… In 27 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 53 top-10 finishes.

Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola… LongtimeTurner Motorsports partner, Dollar General, will serve as title sponsor of this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event at Chicagoland Speedway. Dollar General will also serve as title sponsor of the October NNS event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage.

Reporting From the Car… Allgaier will be the broadcast in-race reporter this Saturday afternoon from Chicagoland Speedway. Race coverage begins at 3pm live on ESPN2.

    Justin Allgaier on Chicagoland Speedway:

“I’m so excited to head back to Chicagoland this weekend. We’re coming off two top-10 finishes and have the extra confidence going into the weekend as the defending winner. I have a feeling that we’ll unload really well, have a strong night and be in contention to find ourselves back in victory lane celebrating with Brandt and Dollar General. It would be great opportunity to grab another win for BRANDT especially since this is their home track, as well as my own.”

Kasey Kahne on racing at Chicagoland Speedway

“I am looking forward to running in the Nationwide Series again this weekend. It’s fun to get a chance to run these races because we don’t worry about points, we are out for the win. I know we are close to getting to victory lane with these Turner Motorsports guys and hopefully we can do it this weekend in the No. 30 Rexall Chevy. Chicagoland is a great 1.5-mile track where you can run the bottom and middle groove. Recently, a lot of these Nationwide races have come down to fuel mileage and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it come down to that again this weekend.”

    * TREVOR BAYNE at Chicagoland Speedway… Bayne has three starts with one top-five finish in Nationwide Series competition

    QUOTES

Trevor Bayne on racing at Chicago: “The last few weeks have been pretty rough on our Roush Fenway team. I am trying to wrap my brain around the fact that we have run very well, led laps and contended for wins, but don’t have the finishes to show for it. We just have to show some perseverance and determination to get through this rough time and revel in the fact that our last two finishes are not indicative of our effort. With that being said, I feel like we are going to run well at Chicago. I am pulling double duty this weekend, so the pressure will be on to run well, but as long as I believe in myself and our team everything will work out the way it should.”

Crew chief Chad Norris on racing at Chicago: “It has been tough the last few weeks. The effort has been there, we just don’t have much to show for it. I am continuously telling our guys not to get down. We have been a major player in the last few races and we know we can run with the best. As Trevor and I continue to communicate better our finishes will get better. It is only a matter of time at this point. Chicago will be a test for us because we have only worked together on one other mile and a half track and that’s Atlanta, which is far different than Chicago. I am confident we can pull together and run well this weekend.”

. This week’s Impala…. This weekend at Chicagoland Speedway the No. 38 Great Clips team will unload chassis TMS-127. . Turner Motorsports: In the hunt… In 27 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 53 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Reed Sorenson in third, Justin Allgaier in fifth and Leffler in sixth.

    Leffler on Chicagoland Speedway

“Chicagoland is a fast track with multiple grooves so it’s pretty easy to pass. You can run the high groove or the bottom groove and move around as much or as little as you need to based on how the car is handling. Generally, you don’t see a lot of cautions during this race so it often comes down to fuel mileage and pit strategy in the end. This Great Clips team has grown stronger and stronger at these 1.5-mile tracks and we have come away with top-five finishes in the last three races here, so I feel pretty sure that we can go in this weekend and be a top contender for the win on Saturday night in the Dollar General 300.”

R3 Motorsports and Richardson, Jr. set to take on the Windy City track of Chicagoland

R3 Motorsports and Richardson, Jr. set to take on the Windy City track of Chicagoland

CHINA GROVE, N.C. (September 13, 2011) – Robert Richardson, Jr. and the No. 23 North Texas Pipe Chevrolet team of R3 Motorsports are making their way to Chicagoland Speedway for some Saturday afternoon NASCAR Nationwide Series action.

After several consecutive Friday night events, the series will go back to battling for spots under the sun with this weekend’s race. And, with the task of taking on the 1.5-mile oval of Chicagoland at hand, they’re going to be seeking all the bright moments possible.

This is the first time in series history the Joliet, Ill. facility has hosted two NNS races in the same season, so drivers will have a fresher memory of the track since they were just there in June.

Richardson is coming off a 22nd place finish at Richmond last Friday night.

Fast Facts: This will be Richardson’s 88th career NNS start and 19th of the 2011 season. During the current campaign, the McKinney, Texas native has completed 2,753 of 3,540 laps contested and led one lap.

Track Facts: For the fourth time in his career, Richardson is making a start at Chicagoland Speedway. During the first three, he made his best start of 30th earlier this year. However, his best finish of 28th took place during the 2008 race. He’s completed 457 of 603 laps during the first three races at Chicagoland.

Where’s Robert?: There are no planned autograph sessions in the Chicago area.

Tune in for the Win: There will be two practices on Friday, with the second one from 4:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. ET on Speed TV. Then, keep that channel locked in for qualifying at Noon on Saturday. Then, jump over to ESPN2 at 3 p.m. for the 200 laps of race action. Or, you can listen to MRN Radio or Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90, as well.

Robert Richardson, Jr. Quotes: “This will be good going back to Chicagoland for the second time in one year. We didn’t fare too well the last time we were here and had to bail out early with electrical problems. So, we’re definitely looking to do better this time.

“The track is 1.5 miles, but it’s not as fast as a Charlotte, Atlanta or Texas. So, that gives you more time in the corners. But, that also means you have to have your handling of the car that much better, too.

“We’ll take those two practice sessions and get ourselves set up for qualifying. If we can get a decent spot there, then that will help us out towards a good finish. The less cars you have to pass in the beginning, the better.

“The guys have been working hard to get the cars ready for the homestretch here in our season. We just need to keep doing what we know how to best and get all the positions and points we can from each race.”

No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Team News and Notes

    * Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger, will make his eighth start of the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season Saturday afternoon in the Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. * This will mark Hornish’s first start in the NNS at Chicagoland. He was able to get a few laps under his belt back in the spring, when he subbed for teammate Brad Keselowski in the first practice session for the STP 300. * From 2006 to present, Hornish has made a total of 28 NNS starts. He has scored eight top-15 finishes during that time and has also captured four top-five, eight top-10 and 14 top-15 starting positions while competing in a limited NNS schedule over the last five plus seasons. * This weekend marks the eighth outing together for Hornish and crew chief, Chad Walter, who called the shots for the No. 12 Penske Racing Nationwide Series team in the past and helped guide the No. 12 team to top-six championship finishes in each of the last two seasons. * In seven career starts in the IndyCar Series at Chicagoland, Hornish earned six top-five finishes, including two wins. He has also recorded five top-five starting positions, including two poles. He has led 253 laps of racing at the venue. * The No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger will feature one of the ESPN 2 broadcasts in car cameras. Race coverage will begin at 3:00pm ET on ESPN 2 and action will be heard live on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius Channel 90

. Fans will have a chance to meet Hornish during an autograph session on Wednesday, September 14 from 6-7pm CT at Meijer, located at 950 West North Ave., Melrose Park, IL. Only 150 wristbands will be distributed for the event.

Sam Hornish Jr. comments on this weekend’s Dollar General 300

“I am excited to get back behind the wheel of the Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. It has always been an exciting place for me to go because I have celebrated an IndyCar Series win and clinched a championship there. The track is fast and with the banking it carries a lot of speed. Between testing and getting ready for this weekend, the No. 12 crew has been working hard in the shop to provide me with the best equipment out there and I hope I can thank them by ending up in victory lane this weekend.”

Crew Chief Chad Walter comments on this weekend’s Dollar General 300

“Once again, we are ready to bring the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger to Chicagoland Speedway. The Speedway is not a “cookie cutter” track as it has a curved backstretch making qualifying important as it will lead to great track position for the start of the race. The entire team has been working hard on preparing for this weekend and hopefully we can bring home the results that show it .”

Chicago was our first top-10 of the season and led us to five more. Rick (Viers) stepped in as crew chief just one race before Chicago’s first race, and we’ve really worked well together since he came on board. He’s a great leader for our team. We’re looking forward to another strong run this weekend for our longtime partner, Pilot Flying J.”

    Talking Shop:

Crew Chief Rick Viers on racing at Chicagoland Speedway:

It’s a great race track, and Michael’s first top-10 of the season came there back in June in only our second race together. We feel we will be even better there this time around. Our pit crew has been doing an awesome job on pit road, so we’re working hard for our first top-five.”

    JR MOTORSPORTS TEAM PREVIEW

No. 88 Suave Men Chevrolet / No. 7 Air Hogs Chevrolet

    EVENT – Dollar General 300 (200 laps / 300 miles) TRACK – Chicagoland Speedway (1.5-mile D-shaped oval) DATE – Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 TV / RADIO – ESPN2 (coverage begin at 3:30 p.m. EST) / MRN (broadcast begins at 3 p.m. EST)

Aric Almirola No. 88 Suave Men Chevrolet

“Chicago is a fun track. It has a lot of similarities to Kansas. So if you run well at Kansas, odds are you’re going to be good at Chicago. Our Suave Men team is fortunate to be making a second trip out there with the Nationwide Series new car. I think we know a lot more of what to expect. We definitely had a top-10 car at this race in the spring. We were able to lead some laps and our fuel scenario played out well. Typically we see a lot of green-flag runs here, which makes fuel mileage important. It seems like more often than not the fuel game comes in to play at this track, so teams have to be prepared for that.”

Jamie McMurray No. 7 Air Hogs Chevrolet

“It’s going to be a lot of fun driving this Air Hogs Chevy. I think the whole team is in agreement that we didn’t get the finish we should have in Atlanta. We were able to run up front, in the top-10 for most of the race, but we cut a tire with only a few laps to go. That took us out of contention for a good finish.

“Looking ahead to Chicago, it’s been a decent track for me. I finished ninth driving for JRM in this race last year. We want to improve on that this time around. I know that Tony Jr. and the guys have a goal of finishing out the year with a top-10 spot in the owner points. I have no doubt they’ll get there, but it would be great to go and earn those guys their first win of the season.”

McMurray will race again for the organization at Dover International Speedway on Oct. 1.

SECOND OF TWO FOR AIR HOGS – Air Hogs, a leader in remote and radio controlled vehicles, takes to the track for its second of two races on board the No. 7 Chevrolet with driver Jamie McMurray. CHICAGO RECAP – JR Motorsports landed a pair of top-10 finishes with its two-car team at Chicagoland Speedway earlier this year. Danica Patrick put down competitive lap times all night and the No. 7 team pounced on 10th position in the closing laps. ALMIROLA AT CHICAGOLAND – Almirola’s fourth-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway in June marked his best finish of the season. The No. 88 Suave Men team scored another fourth-place finish at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
