Taylor Gray started on the second row of the Shore Lunch 200 at Toledo Speedway, swiftly capturing a spot on the initial green flag lap. The Ford Performance driver found himself in a heated battle for the podium spots early on, as the first five drivers atop the leaderboard sat within half a second of each other. As the stint wore on, Gray continued to gain on the leaders. Surviving a tire rub late in the run, the No. 17 Mustang crossed the line in third at the end of stage one. The three-time ARCA Menards Series winner radioed to Crew Chief Chad Johnston that he was too tight in turns one and two during the mandatory break, hoping to improve the car’s handling. Following a minor adjustment to loosen its condition, Gray took two additional places in the second stage, outlasting numerous restarts to hold onto second for the entirety of the 75-lap stint. Continuing to search for more grip as the race winded down, Gray slid down to fourth — eventually losing the handle entirely on his Factory Canopies Ford Mustang. As the sun set on Toledo, the 17-year-old finished fourth in the final race of the 2022 ARCA Menards Series season.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 7, 2022) – Matt Gould will return to the ARCA Menards Series this weekend at Toledo Speedway in the No. 40 Worldwide Express Chevrolet in the Shore Lunch 200 on Saturday, October 8.

Niece Motorsports Competition Director and Crew Chief of the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Phil Gould, will serve as the crew chief for Saturday’s race.

Matt Gould made his ARCA Menards Series debut earlier this year, earning a top-10 finish at the Milwaukee Mile.

“I’m really excited to have another chance behind the wheel of one of these Niece Motorsports Chevrolets,” said Gould. “It’s been fun getting to work on the car with my dad. I learned a ton in my first start at Milwaukee and am looking forward to applying that to this weekend.”

The 16-year-old, Mooresville, N.C. native is in his third season driving late model stock cars in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and has a win at Hickory Motor Speedway (April 30) in addition to nine top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. Gould also earned the pole at Tri-County Speedway with a track record time on April 2. He currently competes for the 2022 Track Championship at Hickory Motor Speedway, which will be crowned in November.

In his second season competing in late models in 2021, Gould had a pair of wins at Orange County Speedway (August 14) and Florence Motor Speedway (October 16) in a year that saw him race to 13 top-fives, 14 top-10s, and a fourth-place finish in the Orange County Speedway season standings.

EAGLE, IDAHO (October 7, 2022) – Eagle, Idaho’s Jacob Smith, 17, will team up with Jerry Pitts Racing to debut in the ARCA Menards Series West on Friday October 14 in the Star Nursery 150 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Smith will pilot the No. 5 The Collective Region Cross Country Mortgage Ford on the three-eights mile asphalt oval.

Smith competes full-time in the MAVTV-televised Lunkerdaddy Pro Late Model Series at Madera Speedway and currently ranks third in that championship. Jerry Pitts Racing is owned by the three-time West Series champion Crew Chief with 23 wins in the series. In 2020, he was inducted into the West Coast Stock Car / Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Jacob Smith Racing will host the Drive to Live Community Health & Wellness Fair at Madera Auto Center on Wednesday October 12. The event will bring awareness to mental health issues and services available for Madera-area youth. Thursday’s schedule will include testing at Madera Speedway for Saturday’s $10,000-to-win Short Track Shootout for the Pro Late Models. Smith will travel to Las Vegas for Friday’s ARCA West race, then journey back to Madera for the 150-lap championship event on Saturday.

The teenage driver burst onto the scene in 2021 in the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series. Smith earned four fast-time awards in the nine-race campaign along with two victories. He added two runner-up finishes and three third place performances to earn second place in a hard-fought championship while securing Rookie of the Year. Smith also set an all-time track record with 196 consecutive laps led.

Prior to competing at Madera, Smith was a four-time winner and Rookie of the Year in the Northwest Tour Truck Series. His eight year karting career featured 110 race starts and 70 wins including two IKF Grand National Championships in 2015.

More than 60 VIP guests from Cross Country Mortgage and The Collective Region will attend Friday’s race in Las Vegas. They will enjoy reserved seating with other guests from Jacob Smith Racing in the main grandstands.

TOLEDO, Ohio: On the strength of two top-10 finishes in the last three ARCA Menards Series races, rookie Amber Balcaen and her Rette Jones Racing trek to Toledo Speedway hoping to save their best finish for the last race of the season in Saturday afternoon’s Shore Lunch 200.

Patience and perseverance paid off for Balcaen and her Mark Rette-led team last weekend at the historic Salem (Ind.) Speedway. From the moment the green flag dropped in practice, Balcaen and the team battled brake woes which unfortunately carried over into qualifying.

Hoping to have the problem corrected for the 200-lap Herr’s Snacks 200, she methodically and carefully maneuvered her way through the field and climbed inside the top-10 shortly before the halfway mark before mounting a respectable ninth-place finish at the checkered flag and earning the series’ hard-charger award.

“I’m proud of the resilience of my Rette Jones Racing team last weekend,” said Balcaen.

“It was unfortunate that we did not have a whole lot of track time before the race, but we definitely made the best of the situation and were rewarded with our fifth top-10 of the year.”

Heading to ARCA’s hometown track of Toledo Speedway, Balcaen has her sights set on earning a top-five finish and putting an exclamation point on a solid rookie season that was flanked by plenty of speed and finesse.

“I am really excited for the last race of the season; I am going to give it 100% my all,” added Balcaen. “I am going for a top-five run this weekend.

“I really expected to have more of them already in 2022 but want to make it happen this weekend.”

For the 18th different time this season, Balcaen will compete at a racetrack she has never turned a lap on before, but thankfully, she doesn’t have to go far for advice as crew chief and co-owner Rette has plenty of experience at the half-mile venue.

“Mark is absolutely helping me prepare for this race. Everyone wants to end the year with a strong finish to carry into the off-season and we are no different. He has plenty of experience and even has been in Victory Lane before at Toledo, so I feel confident in our No. 30 ICON Direct Ford Fusion setup.

“I’m just ready to get to the track and get to work.”

Looking back at her freshman season in ARCA competition, Balcaen highlights her season on being able to strengthen her mindset through adversity which she certainly faced during the summer.

Being able to overcome the hurdles she faced head-on in her first full-time season of ARCA competition will undoubtedly make her a stronger competitor both on and off the track in the future.

“I think my biggest accomplishment this year has been strengthening my mindset when going through adversity, Balcaen offered. “We had so much bad luck and so many things not go our way that it made me have to dig deep into my mental mind to stay positive and also look at the positives in each race.

“My ultimate goal this year was to improve throughout the season and develop my skills as a driver and I am confident in knowing that I accomplished that.”

Despite the forks in the road this season, Balcaen relishes the fact that she has improved her racing craft from the high banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February to the season-finale half-mile short track at Toledo.

“I know I am a lot better driver now at the end of the season than I was at the beginning of the season and I am going to carry the growth going forward,” she said. “I had obviously hoped for better finishes this season because I know I am capable of it, but, every driver has those seasons of bad luck and unfortunately 2022 was one of those seasons.”

Once the curtain is drawn on the 2022 ARCA Menards Series season Saturday afternoon, Balcaen is already starting to think of next season where she is focused on returning to the series for a sophomore campaign.

“I am excited for 2023 because now I have some experience under my belt, got all the bad luck out of the way my first year as a rookie, and am going to push even harder in 2023,” sounded Balcaen.

“It will be nice to go to tracks again that I have experience on with some confidence. I want to keep developing my skills both on the track as a driver and on the mental performance side. I think this year really showed my resilience and perseverance and I believe only good things are coming for the future!”

For Rette, he continues to be proud of the toughness of his young driver and looks forward to her Toledo Speedway debut being a successful one.

“After a troubling exit at Bristol, the team faced some adversity at Salem Speedway, but we never gave up and pushed through it and ended up with a solid finish,” he said. “Toledo is not your typical short track either, but I think she will be able to quickly adapt and contend for another top-10 finish on Saturday.”

TOLEDO, Ohio: When the green flag waves in Saturday afternoon’s Shore Lunch 200 at Toledo Speedway, Greg Van Alst and his all-volunteer Greg Van Alst Motorsports team will have accomplished their biggest goal of the 2022 ARCA Menards Series, running every race.

And on the heels of their 10th top-10 finish of the year last weekend at Salem (Ind.) Speedway, Van Alst invades ARCA’s hometown track ready to add another top-10 to his season tally while carrying some much-welcomed momentum into the off-season.

It’s going to be a bittersweet weekend,” said Van Alst. “I am glad to see the end of the season arrive, but I know it’ll be short-lived. I am taking a vacation with the family after Toledo and I know I’ll be ready to be at a racetrack soon after.

“Honestly, I can’t wait for Daytona to get here.”

But before Van Alst can point start thinking about a sophomore full-time season, he must first conquer 200 laps around Toledo’s dynamic half-mile.

Never turning a lap before in an ARCA car at the track nestled on the Michigan-Ohio border, Van Alst is eager to get on the track and hopes that his prior experience in a Late Model will give him the confidence to earn his 11th top-10 finish of the year aboard his No. 35 CB Fabricating Ford Fusion.

“We still are not where we need to be heading to Toledo,” Van Alst added. “From a driver that also works on the cars, I understand how they work.“

I’m not saying as a driver I was perfect but our car was not perfect last weekend at Salem Speedway.

We will continue to work hard and get better, including Saturday at Toledo.”

A native of Anderson, Ind. – Van Alst delivered a respectable seventh-place finish in the Herr’s Food 200, but Van Alst believes the challenges will make his CB Fabricating Racing team better for the long haul.

“Once we start getting better on our set up we will be a top-five team,” expressed Van Alst. “We were off a little last weekend. We knew the track was rough. Just didn’t realize that the backcountry railroad track crossings were smoother.

“This weekend at Toledo, I believe that we are prepared for anything and I hope we can take what we learn in practice and apply that will make us stronger for the season finale. A lot of people will be watching and we certainly want to end the year on a high note!”

Looking back at the previous 19 races this season, Van Alst pointed at the team’s top-five performance at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in May was a major accomplishment for his team.

“I think our top-five run at Charlotte was huge,” sounded Van Alst. “It shows that when we hit the setup right, we are fast. Overall if we can finish the season in the top five in driver points that’s huge for us.

“Being able to finish the season top-five in points is going to be huge for us as we approach potential marketing partners during the off-season and be better prepared for 2023.”

Speaking of next season, Van Alst already believes his team will be able to capitalize on their rookie season.

“I am excited for 2023,” he said. “I feel like a year of full-time under our belts is huge. My crew chief Jim Long and I have created a great relationship and I feel 2023 will be a stronger year. We both have tons of experience but very little in the ARCA Menards Series until this year. We now have notes and can grow off of those.

“If we can pick up a couple of (marketing) partners over the off-season I am hoping to put two full-time people on our team. That would be the largest thing to help our team advance to the next level and hopefully, compete for a championship in 2023.”

“But we will just continue to do our thing and see how it all shakes out on Saturday afternoon.”

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, October , 2022 – NASCAR’s ARCA Menards Series headed to All American Speedway for round 9 of the 11 race season, and the team at BMI Racing worked hard to put good car together for Bridget’s favorite short track.

The team unloaded the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS and proceeded to go through the technical inspection process, and then prepared for the hour and fifteen minute practice/qualifying session. Bridget’s fastest lap of the session qualified her in 14th position out of a 22 car field.

All American Speedway put on a great introductory show for the sellout crowd; and Bridget received the loudest cheer during driver introductions.

The green flag drop for the NAPA AutoCare 150 at All American Speedway and Bridget and the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS roared across the start/finish line. Bridget worked on making gains then an early caution came out on the second lap. The field regrouped and the green flag dropped once again, with Bridget battling hard against other aggressive drivers. Quickly, Bridget was turned by another competitor; the caution flag didn’t wave and while Bridget was waiting for the message that she was clear another car collided with her head on, and ended her day.

BMI Racing is excited to announce they are fielding two cars at the next NASCAR ARCA Menards West Series at the BullRing located at Las Vegas Motors Speedway on October 14. Sarah Burgess will step away from crew chief of the #88 to pilot the #97 eBay Motors Chevrolet SS. This will become a historic moment, the first time a mother and daughter has raced each other in a NASCAR sanctioned event.

PLANO, Texas (September 29, 2022) – Toyota captured its seventh manufacturer’s championship in the ARCA Menards Series and its sixth-consecutive ARCA title following Sammy Smith’s fourth victory of the season at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this month.

Toyota drivers have won more than half of the races this season and comes in to the race at Indiana’s Salem Speedway having won five of the last six events.

“We are excited to continue to have such success in the ARCA Menards Series,” said Paul Doleshal, Group Manager, Motorsports and Assets, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “Our team partners continue to deliver outstanding performance on-track and offer great opportunities for our development drivers’ growth as race car drivers. We are pleased that our teams have continued to deliver such consistent finishes resulting in our sixth-consecutive ARCA manufacturer’s title.”

Toyota supports three ARCA Menards Series teams, including Venturini Motorsports (VMS), Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM). All three organizations have scored wins this season with VMS scoring multiple victories with Toyota development drivers Corey Heim, Chandler Smith and Jesse Love. JGR was dominant in their five starts this season with Brandon Jones winning three of them. KBM had the best ARCA season for Team Toyota this season as Sammy Smith won races across multiple ARCA disciplines this season, which culminated in his ARCA East and Sioux Chief Showdown titles in Bristol.

• Dye will drive the Solar-Fit, Halifax Health, KIX Country No. 43 Chevrolet SS for GMS Racing in Saturday’s 200-lap event.
• Daniel is currently second in ARCA Menards Series point standings after 18 of 20 races. A mere 5-points separate DD from the championship lead, currently held by Nick Sanchez.
• Among drivers who have started all 18-races in 2022, Daniel holds the best average finishing position of 5.94. The No. 43 Chevy has led 457 laps so far this season.

GMS Racing competes full-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series operating the No. 23 and the No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado RSTs, as well as the ARCA Menards Series with the No. 43 Chevrolet SS.
