Zachary Tinkle and the American Association of Pet Parents Launch Laps 4 Love Leading up to Talladega

The Laps 4 Love Initiative Kicks off at Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter on Thursday, April 21 and Aims to Keep More Pets Out of Shelters and in Loving Homes

The American Association of Pet Parents (AAPP) is teaming up with NASCAR’s Zachary Tinkle for Laps 4 Love. This new lifesaving initiative will help pets in need across America stay happy, healthy and in their loving homes, in turn, reducing the number of animals that enter the sheltering system each and every year.

AAPP and Zachary Tinkle Racing are making a lifesaving pit stop at Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter (TMAC), in Tuscaloosa Ala., on the way to Talladega, to officially kick off Laps 4 Love this Thursday, April 21 at 4 p.m. and all (humans) are invited to attend.

“Pets have always been part of my family growing up and they still are. They hold a special place in my heart. I can’t imagine ever having to surrender them to a shelter due to financial hardship or a lack of resources, that’s why partnering with AAPP to help keep pets with their families is so important to me,” Tinkle said.

The mission of the American Association of Pet Parents is to keep pets happy, healthy and in their loving homes by providing expert, reliable information and resources that protect and celebrate the human-animal bond. AAPP strives to protect all pet parents and the bond they share with their pets, regardless of their socioeconomic status, or if they have fallen on tough times.

“Pets are Family, and should be treated as such in our society,” said Tom Van Winkle, Founder of AAPP. “A family should never be faced with the heartbreaking choice of having to relinquish their beloved pet in order to pay rent or put food on the table. We need to step up and help keep families whole, that’s why our collaboration with Zachary Tinkle Racing is so imperative. We can’t assist in the capacity that is needed without trusted partners like Zachary who use their platform to pay it forward and generate awareness and support for pets in need.”

Tinkle’s racing team will be driving down from Indiana with a trailer of pet food to help stock TMAC’s food pantry and assist pet parents who are struggling to care for their pets. Everyone in attendance will receive a free Benebone to take home for their dogs and they’ll have the opportunity to meet Tinkle, who will be onsite to take photos, sign autographs, and encourage Laps 4 Love donations.

Laps 4 Love gives pet parents, sponsors, fans and the entire NASCAR and ARCA communities the opportunity to give back for each lap Tinkle races during the ARCA Menards 2022 season. Give $0.25 per lap or up to $10 (or more) per lap and help AAPP (Van Winkle and Tinkle) keep pets and their people together.

Saturday, April 23 will be Tinkle’s debut at Talladega Motor Speedway in the ARCA Menards Series. Be on the lookout for the brightly colored car sporting a dog and cat on the hood with the simple yet powerful message behind AAPP’s mission: Pets are Family.

“NASCAR and ARCA have the greatest fan bases in all of sports; they are passionate, loyal, and they sure do love their pets! I’m so excited to rally this amazing and generous community to help the pets and families who need us the most across this great nation,” said Tinkle.

As NASCAR famously starts each race, it’s time to officially start Laps 4 Love so, “Donors…start your giving!” With Zachary Tinkle Racing and the entire NASCAR Community’s support, this racing season will be a lifesaving one for countless pets and their people in underserved communities across the country.

  • Landen Lewis Returns to the ARCA Series at Kern Speedway

Landen Lewis Returns to the ARCA Series at Kern Speedway

Mooresville, NC (April 5, 2022) – Announced today, Team Hornaday Development driver Landen Lewis will return to the ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) Series to compete in the West race at Kern Speedway on April 23rd.

With three starts in the ARCA Series, Lewis scored his first-career ARCA win in just his second series start with a dominating win at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 5, 2021) where he started from the pole and led every lap. Lewis continued his breakout year becoming only the second driver to win the Legends Car Trifecta by winning Dirt Nationals, Asphalt Nationals and Road Course Nationals.

“Last season was a year I’ve dreamed about,” said Lewis. “To win my first ARCA race and accomplish so much in Legend Cars was a dream season. I’ve learned so much over the years working with Ron (Hornaday, Jr), Austin Theriault, my teams, so many people have helped me get to where I am and I am so grateful for their support. I’m excited to get back in the ARCA Series at Kern Speedway and continue to show what we can do and win races. Kern Speedway is a special place to Ron and that adds to my excitement for this race.”

The 16-year-old will be driving for Cook Racing Technologies, owned by Bruce Cook, who is no stranger to Hornaday, Jr and his career. Cook served as a crew chief for Hornaday, Jr in 2011 and 2013 earning two wins, one pole starting position, seven top-five finishes and 12 top-10 finishes in just 25 Truck Series starts together.

“To work with Ron (Hornaday, Jr) again has been a great time,” said Cook. “I respect everything Ron has accomplished in his career on the race track and now to be a part of what he and Candice (Hornaday) are creating off the track with Team Hornaday Development is really special. Candice has put so much time in to helping develop young talent along with Ron helping to mentor these drivers, so it’s special to now have one of their drivers in one of our cars. I know Landen (Lewis) will be great and he has shown he has the talent to win races and continue to move up the ranks of NASCAR. We’re excited to have him in our car at Kern Speedway and hopefully add another win to his resume.”

A native of Supply, NC, Lewis started racing at the age of four. When he was just eight years old, he connected with Hornaday, Jr and moved up to dirt modified cars where he earned his first win at 12. Since then, Lewis has been a part of Team Hornaday Development with mentorship from one of his racing heroes, four-time Truck Series Champion Hornaday, Jr.

“Landen has the raw talent and reminds me so much of how I raced,” said Hornaday, Jr. “I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him over the last few years and watching him grow every time he gets in a race car, no matter the type. He soaks in everything you tell him and gets better every race. It’s fun to watch him and know he’ll keep winning races and adding championships to his name. I keep saying, he’s a kid to watch in the future.”

Sean Samuels will serve as the crew chief for Lewis with 19th Green on board as the primary partner. Lewis will run additional races this season in the ARCA Series with the remainder of his schedule to be announced at a later date.

DGR ARCA Menards Series East Race Recap: Five Flags Speedway

    Saturday, March 19
Track: Five Flags Speedway, half-mile oval
    Race: 2 of 7
    Event: Pensacola 200 (200 laps, 100 miles)

Taylor Gray, No. 17 Ford Performance Fusion
    Start: 2nd
    Finish: 3rd

    • Securing the quickest time in the lone practice session, Taylor Gray qualified second for the Pensacola 200, lining up on the front-row for his second consecutive ARCA Menards Series East event this season.
    • Lap 28 saw Gray set up race leader Leland Honeyman for a pass exiting turn four, taking the lead before a wreck on the next lap would bring the field under yellow. On the subsequent restart, the Ford Performance Fusion would get a strong jump, and hold on to the lead for the next 65 laps.
    • Following a small track bar and air pressure adjustment during the scheduled break on lap 75, the Artesia, NM native would develop a loose condition that eventually cost him the lead as the race approached the halfway mark.
    • Despite sliding back to fifth, a restart on lap 127 would see Gray quickly move back up the order, settling into second-place by lap 135.
    • The 16-year-old was steady on the heels of the race leader for the ensuing long green-flag run. However, a flurry of cautions with less than 30 laps remaining culminated in a restart violation on lap 188. The penalty ultimately dropped the No. 17 to fourth, and with only 10 laps remaining, Gray was forced to settle for a third-place finish at 5 Flags Speedway.

Next event: Dover 125 at Dover Motor Speedway in Dover, Delaware on April 29th at 5:30 p.m. ET with the ARCA Menards Series East.

Daniel Dye – GMS Racing ARCA Phoenix Recap

Daniel Dye, No. 43 Father Lopez Catholic High School Chevrolet SS

    START: 6TH
    FINISH: 2ND
    POINTS: 1ST

Quote: Friday’s race was pretty solid overall for us as we had hoped, after running good here last year. The GMS Racing group unloaded a really good Chevrolet for me, and we were able to just make minor adjustments to get where we needed to be at during the halfway break. We led some laps, and definitely showed our strength. If that caution didn’t come out we were in pretty good shape out front, and then I made a mistake in lane choice and had a few other things happened that set us back. I’m glad we were able to hang on during the final restart and come home second with only a donut on the door. Thanks to everyone who made this weekend possible.

  • ARCA Menards Series West Team Owner Sarah Burgess Named Recipient of 2021 General Tire Spirit Award

ARCA Menards Series West Team Owner Sarah Burgess Named Recipient of 2021 General Tire Spirit Award

ARCA Menards Series West team owner Sarah Burgess has been named the recipient of the 2021 General Tire Spirit Award. Burgess, who owns the No. 88 HMH Construction Chevrolet driven by her daughter Bridget full-time in the West Series, will receive $2,500, as will the charity of her choice, Tunnel To Towers.

The General Tire Spirit Award was established to recognize someone within the ARCA racing community who has demonstrated true sportsmanship both on and off the track as well as perseverance when faced with major challenges.

The Burgess family – Sarah, husband Adam, and daughter Bridget – relocated from Brisbane, Australia to Los Angeles to chase their dreams of competing in motorsports with little more than the clothes they were wearing and a few suitcases. Burgess competed professionally in drifting and then switched to short course off road. Ten years later the family relocated to Tooele, Utah and two years later Burgess retired from racing to focus on Bridget’s motorsport program. In addition to the family’s racing commitments Burgess is the Business Development Manager for eBay Motors.

As avid motorsports enthusiasts, the family quickly became a race team building their own chassis for drifting and offroad. Bridget’s asphalt career started with a conversation with renowned West team owner Bill McAnally, who recommended time at the local short tracks before moving up the ladder. The family acquired a modified and Bridget drove it a dozen or so times at Magic Valley Speedway in Idaho with a best finish of fourth. That opened the door to make a pair of starts for West team owner John Wood at the end of 2019.

In 2020, Bridget started the ARCA Menards West season in one of Wood’s cars, but the family had already had thoughts of branching out on their own. They bought a 2007-spec car from McAnally and off they went.

Throughout a season impacted by a downturned economy due to the pandemic, the BMI Racing team participated in most of the races of the 2020 season, only missing a few in the first half of the season while they were preparing their new-to-them car. Bridget scored her first top-ten finish, a ninth-place at Douglas County Speedway, and then bettered it with a seventh-place finish at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Upgrades to their equipment for 2021 gave them optimism headed into the new season and Bridget delivered with an eighth-place finish at Sonoma Raceway and then scored her second top-ten of the season at Colorado National Speedway.

The family-owned team has scraped and saved and bargained to get Bridget on the racetrack. Not only is Sarah the team owner, but she is also the crew chief and for the overwhelming majority of the races she is the entirety of the pit crew. Adam serves as Bridget’s spotter, and all three spend time working on the car between races and driving the transporter to the track.

“We are honored to name Sarah Burgess as the recipient of the 2021 General Tire Spirit Award,” said Gregg Vandermark, Senior Event Manager, General Tire. “Sarah has shown an unbreakable spirit and desire to compete at this level, and the sacrifices she and her family have made over the years – moving across the world to a new country, starting from scratch, and doing whatever it takes to get to the racetrack – are something to be proud of. Sarah and her family exemplify race teams which are the backbone of the ARCA Menards Series platform, and we wish them nothing but success in their 2022 season and beyond.”

“First, I am completely grateful to be the recipient of the General Tire Spirit Award. I’m still new to this form of motorsport, and I know I’m not the only person at a racetrack to sacrifice and commit to chasing a dream. Second, I’m pleased to be able to support Tunnel To Towers thanks to General Tire, a charity that supports service men and women and their families for the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

The ARCA Menards Series West season kicks off with the General Tire 150, a combination race with the ARCA Menards Series on Friday, March 11 at Phoenix Raceway. The race will be televised live on MAVTV and broadcast on select affiliates of the MRN Radio network starting at 7:30 pm ET.

  • Parker Chase Rides Momentum to Phoenix Raceway

Parker Chase Rides Momentum to Phoenix Raceway

AVONDALE, Ariz: 21-year-old Parker Chase is still feeling the Daytona vibes that left him with a career-best second-place finish in the ARCA Menards Series.

But those vibes will have to subside this week as Chase returns to ARCA Menards Series action at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway where the Venturini Motorsports driver will seek his first career victory in Friday night’s General Tire 150.

Since Daytona, Chase has celebrated his 21st birthday on February 22 and doesn’t mind utilizing his Phoenix debut as an opportunity to score a late birthday gift in the form of his first ARCA trophy and continue a dominant presence for his Venturini Motorsports team.

“I am really feeling optimistic about Phoenix this weekend,” said Chase. “Of course, the Daytona performance was an incredible feeling. I’m bummed that we did not win the race, but I am not going to complain about finishing second either. It really kicked off the season in a positive way.

“The cars that the Venturini Motorsports team is bringing to the track continue to keep getting me more and more excited about the opportunity to chase victories in ARCA.”

Chase returns to Phoenix hoping to improve on a solid 13th place finish in his lone ARCA Menards Series West debut last November. This weekend, he looks to apply the experience to continue his string of seven consecutive top-10 finishes circling back to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course in 2020.

Friday’s practice speeds will also set the starting lineup for the second ARCA Menards Series race of the season.

“I am a quick learner and I think that’s because of the hard work that the Venturini Motorsports team puts into these race cars,” added Chase. “We have one hour to get a good balance on our No. 15 Vertical Bridge Toyota and then focus forward on the 150 laps later in the day.

“It would be a good day to come away with Phoenix with another top-five finish in the books. A win would be incredible, but a top-five would keep the momentum rolling for our team heading into the next ARCA race at Talladega in April.”

Following Phoenix, Chase will shift his attention to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series (IMPC) at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway beginning March 16th.

“I’m hoping that all that experience will continue to be beneficial as the 2022 season marches on – including at Phoenix Raceway this weekend and then getting to return to IMSA competition at Sebring next weekend.”

In IMPC competition, Chase drives the No. 98 Elantra N TCR for Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) with Curb Agajanian.

Following Sebring, Chase will return to the NASCAR scene at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) on Mar. 26, 2022, for his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with Sam Hunt Racing in the No. 26 Toyota Supra.

The Lucas Oil 150 (150 laps | 150 miles) is the second of 20 races on the 2022 ARCA Menards Series schedule. A combined practice and qualifying session begins on Fri., March 11 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The green flag will wave later in the afternoon shortly after 5:30 p.m. The event will be televised live on FloRacing with the Motor Racing Network (MRN) managing the radio waves. ARCARacing.com will also stream live timing and scoring throughout the day’s festivities. All times are local (MT).

  • Parker Chase Rides Daytona ARCA Finish as Momentum for 2022 Season

Parker Chase Rides Daytona ARCA Finish as Momentum for 2022 Season

NEW BRAUNFELS, Tex: Parker Chase closed out his 2022 edition of Speedweeks with an exclamation point as the 21-year-old earned a career-best finish in the ARCA Menards Series on its biggest stage this past Saturday at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Chase in the first of a minimum 10 ARCA Menards Series races this season for the potent Venturini Motorsports utilized the 80-lap Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire to earn crucial superspeedway experience but contend for a career-best finish in just his sixth career start aboard his No. 15 Vertical Bridge Toyota Camry.

Throughout the 2022 ARCA season-opener, Chase kept his race car pinned to the yellow double line in clutches with his teammate and defending race winner Corey Heim.

Even through controlled pit stops and a demanding race that produced two lines of intense drafting, Chase rarely found himself outside the top-five throughout the race and when the race had a green-white-checkered finish to determine the winner, Chase was a part of the mix.

Unable to secure the additional drafting help needed to make a run at Heim, Chase instead pushed his teammate to the team’s fifth consecutive victory at the “World Center of Racing” – while delivering himself his first career top-five finish and a one-two punch in the finishing order for the Concord, N.C.-based team.

“Daytona was awesome,” said Chase. “You dream of racing there – let alone being in contention for the win. We had a shot there on the last restart – but if I couldn’t pull it off myself, I was going to make sure my Venturini Motorsports teammate won the race.

“A first and second-place finish for the organization is something to be really proud about. I cannot thank Vertical Bridge and all our partners for the opportunity. A runner-up finish is a great way to end my Speedweeks in Florida and give me some great momentum for the rest of the racing season.”

Daytona marked Chase’s sixth career start in the NASCAR-owned series with the avid Sports Car driver delivering his first career top-five but his sixth straight top-10 finish dating back to the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course in August 2020.

“I’ve only competed in six ARCA races, but I have learned so much since my first race in the summer of 2020,” added Chase who turned 21 on Feb. 22. “Each race track offers a different discipline and has introduced me to new elements of racing that I’ve been able to quickly adapt to.”

From the high banks of Daytona, Chase is keeping a smile on his face as he prepares for his next ARCA race at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway on March 11th before shifting his attention to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series (IMPC) at Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway beginning March 16th.

“I’m hoping that all that experience will continue to be beneficial as the 2022 season marches on – including in my next ARCA race at Phoenix Raceway next month and then getting to return to IMSA competition at Sebring a week later.”

In IMPC competition, Chase drivers the No. 98 Elantra N TCR for Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) with Curb Agajanian.
