Kris Wright returns to Rette Jones Racing for 2021 ARCA season finale

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Rette Jones Racing confirmed today that NASCAR rookie Kris Wright will return to the team to participate in Saturday night’s ARCA Menards Series season finale at Kansas Speedway.

Wright will make his fifth series start of the season in the Reese’s 150 and hunts his third top-10 of the 2021 ARCA season at the track he landed his career-best series finish last October.

“I am excited to get back to Kansas Speedway this weekend with Rette Jones Racing,” said Wright. “This race was not initially on our schedule, but Mark (Rette) and the entire Rette Jones Racing team have been excellent to work with this year and it’s an opportunity to go out there on Saturday night and see if I can improve on my career-best ARCA finish from last year.”

Last fall, Wright in one of his five ARCA races of the year for Chad Bryant Racing started eighth and battled to a seventh-place lead lap finish to match his best short-track finish from earlier in the season at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Missouri.

With 100 laps under his belt, Wright is looking forward to conquering Kansas again but with the added benefit of practice and qualifying behind the wheel of his No. 30 Wright Automotive Ford Fusion.

Last year, the ARCA Menards Series had just one brief 45-minute practice session before the 100-lap finale.

“We’ll have slightly more track time before the race this year, but believe me all the laps help,” added Wright. “I have been fortunate enough to have some more laps at Kansas earlier this year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“With laps and track time on my side, I’m hopeful we can have a good showing in what is expected to be a competitive race on Saturday night.”

For his 11th career ARCA Menards Series start, the former IMSA Sports Car competitor will sport a pink No. 30 Wright Automotive Group | WrightCars.com Ford Mustang to highlight their contribution in raising awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Since 1927, family-owned and operated WrightCars.com, a part of the Wright Automotive Group has been serving the Pittsburg area’s automotive needs featuring its Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Hyundai, Honda, Nissan, Lotus, Genesis and Explorer Vans brands.

They offer an extensive selection of new and pre-owned inventory in Pennsylvania.

Find the perfect vehicle for your lifestyle at Wright Automotive Group.

“Our car looks fantastic,” sounded Wright. “Obviously, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is important for a lot of reasons, and we’ll be doing our part by honoring three women that have fought. We’re not only racing for ourselves but for Julie Aravich, Carol Barber and Karen Nazzaro.”

Team owner and former ARCA championship crew chief Rette is excited for the opportunity to call the shots for Wright again.

“We have had a lot of fun working with Kris and the Wright family this year, but we’re not done yet,” he said. “I feel like we still have some work to do. We’ve had fast cars but for one reason or another haven’t been quite able to put together the finishes I know Kris and the team are capable of.

“Kansas is one of the tracks that Kris has the most experience on and I believe that will be a benefit for us this weekend. The field will be stacked, but I think if we can keep the handling underneath Kris and avoid any chaos, we can find ourselves contending for a top-five finish at the end of the race.

“We look forward to the opportunity to put Rette Jones Racing in Victory Lane for the third time in 2021.”

In addition to Wright Automotive Group and WrightCars.com, iHeart Radio, F.N.B. Corporation, PPG, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the team as partners this weekend.

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

  • Greg Van Alst looking to close out 2021 ARCA season with another top-10 at Kansas Speedway

Greg Van Alst looking to close out 2021 ARCA season with another top-10 at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Whatever happens in Saturday night’s Reese’s 150 at Kansas Speedway, it has been a dream season for ARCA Menards Series rookie Greg Van Alst and his Greg Van Alst Motorsports team.

A dream to make his first career start at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February blossomed into a limited ARCA schedule that has been full of highs and lows, but the Anderson, Indiana native wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.

“We are going to Kansas Speedway this weekend all smiles because we weren’t even planning on racing this event eight months ago,” said Van Alst.

“It’s been a wing and a prayer really to put as many races together as we have together this season.

“A lot of hard work, determination and most of all support by our sponsors have put our small team in a position to go out there and make seven starts so far highlighted by a career-best second-place finish at Winchester. It’s been a lot of fun and I think we’re just getting started.”

Van Alst returns to the site of his first career top-10 finish in May when he dodged a first-lap wreck and charged throughout the 100-lap race to finish seventh after starting eighth. Since then, the team has grown, and Van Alst is hoping to deliver his second top-five of 2021 on Friday night.

“We’re charged up about Kansas this weekend,” added Van Alst who seeks his fourth top-10 overall. “We had high expectations for Bristol last month but were plagued with brake issues from the start of the day that continued throughout the race. We made it to the finish with the car relatively intact – but I wasn’t happy with the finish.

“You are going to have days like that. That’s just a part of racing. But it also put a fire underneath every guy on this team to make sure we’re going back to Kansas this weekend with an opportunity to be better not only from our last race but our last trip to Kansas.

“I know it’s the Championship race, so there will be some give and take on Friday night, but if we’re in a position to challenge for a top-five, we are going to fight for it. Everyone on this team and our partners deserve that opportunity to head into the ARCA off-season with a great vibe and a strong outlook for 2022.”

As for next season, Van Alst is putting the final touches on his 2022 ARCA Menards Series schedule but says his team will be back.

“Oh, we’ll be back, there’s no doubt about that,” Van Alst confirmed. “We will be at the Daytona ARCA test in January, and we’ll start the year looking to finish what we started at Daytona next February. As for the rest of the year, we’ll see how the schedule looks and make a future announcement soon.”

It won’t just be the ARCA Menards Series on his plate next year though. Van Alst is committed and planning to invade the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next year too.

“We’ve already started those talks about next year in Trucks,” he sounded. “Nothing to confirm at this point, but we’re putting our ducks in a row. We have to bring additional value to our partners and the ARCA Menards Series has done that –- but elevating myself as a driver to NASCAR is something I’ve always dreamed about and we’re planning to make it a reality next year for sure.”

CB Fabricating, a longtime partner with Greg Van Alst Motorsports has boosted its commitment to the team and will continue its role as the primary marketing partner of Van Alst’s No. 35 Ford.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

Their 26,000 square foot facility allows them to service the needs of many different industries. Everything from the Automotive, agricultural, aquatic, medical, transportation, electrical enclosures, and much more.

For the fifth consecutive race, not only is Van Alst racing for a fourth top-10 finish of the year on Saturday night but awareness too.

CB Fabricating president Chris Barkdull was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and will utilize the ARCA event to bring attentiveness and awareness to the disease as Barkdull continues treatment.

“Chris is doing very well with his treatment, but we have promised him that we will continue with this Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign this weekend and into 2022,” added Van Alst.

“He is expected to be with our team at Kansas and I keep reminding him that none of this would have been possible without him. He’s just not an investor or a partner in this thing – he’s family.

“While we are focused on performance, we are fully invested in awareness too. This is important to Chris to do his part to educate the public and that is exactly what he is going to do, and we are happy to keep using the race car to our advantage.”

In addition to CB Fabricating, Top Choice Fence, Norton Transport, KRJ Race Products and Lintz Creative will serve as associate marketing partners for Van Alst’s 11th career ARCA start.

Veteran crew chief Jim Long will continue his role as crew chief at Kansas Speedway.

Season Finale: This weekend, the ARCA Menards Series will close out their 20-race season with a returning trip to Kansas Speedway for Saturday night’s Reese’s 150.

The 23rd ARCA Menards Series race held at the 1.5-mile speedway will also conclude Young’s Motorsports’ first season of competition in the NASCAR-owned development series.

Throughout the year, Young’s Motorsports fielded ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East entries for Toni Breidinger and Connor Mosack.

Kansas will mark the organization’s ninth race of the year, highlighted by back-to-back 12th place finishes at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and Kansas Speedway respectively.

Welcome Back: For the fourth time this season, Young’s Motorsports welcomes Connor Mosack aboard their No. 02 Chevrolet SS.

Mosack returns to the team after competing in his most recent ARCA Menards Series race at the famed Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile in last August.

Mosack earned much-needed seat time in the ARCA Menards Series and delivered a respectable 16th place finish in the Sprecher 150.

The highlight of Mosack’s young ARCA tenure occurred in May when he made his ARCA debut with the team at Dover’s Monster Mile. Starting 14th, he utilized the 125-lap race to move forward in his stock car debut to take seventh at the checkered flag.

The effort was not only a top-10 for Mosack but also a top-10 for the Tyler Young-led team in their ARCA East Series debut.

Meet Connor: Connor Mosack, 22, will drive the No. 02 Nic Taylor Custom Fit Underwear Chevrolet SS in Saturday night’s Reese’s 150.

A veteran of Motorsports, Mosack is a recent graduate of High Point University where he was on a presidential scholarship and earned a degree in business entrepreneurship.

Behind the scenes, Mosack is also a leader in his community. He organized a fundraiser for ContainIt, a student-led initiative that takes used shipping containers and turns them into transitional housing units. In its first year with Covenant Day School, it raised over $50,000.

He is also involved with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation supporting kids with pediatric cancer.

Mosack’s Racing Career At A Glance: Mosack’s racing career began in 2017 in the INEX U.S. Legend Car ranks. Entering his first full season in 2018, the young driver needed just four races to earn his first victory, taking the fourth of five events in the 2018 Winter Nationals at Citrus County (Fla.) Speedway.

Racing in the Semi-Pro and Open Divisions, Mosack competed at Concord (N.C.) Speedway, the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway among other events. In 42 starts, Mosack earned 20 victories, 34 top-five and 37 top-10 finishes. Among those was a sweep of the National events at Las Vegas, including the Road Course World Finals and Asphalt Nationals.

In 2019, Mosack joined JR Motorsports to compete in the CARS Late Model Stock Tour Series and competed for the championship in 2020. In 10 starts, he earned three top-five, eight top-10s and finished sixth in the championship standings. With an average finish of 8.5, Mosack also earned Rookie of the Year Honors.

This season in addition to ARCA and Late Models, Mosack has competed in the Trans Am Racing Series by Pirelli where he recently earned his first career victory at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

This weekend will mark his seventh ARCA race as crew chief and fifth overall in 2021.

Earlier this year, he led Toni Breidinger to a 12th place finish at Kansas.

Young’s Motorsports 2021 ARCA Season: A staple in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Mooresville, N.C.-based Young’s Motorsports expanded their team to include ARCA this season and has competed in seven premier events entering Kansas.

    Connor Mosack Pre-Race Quotes:

On Kansas Speedway: “I’m excited to get back in the ARCA car on a mile and a half. We’re bringing the car we had at Michigan, so I think our No. 02 Nic Tailor Custom Fit Underwear Chevrolet will be really good.”

On Preparing For Kansas Speedway: “I’ve run many laps on the simulator to best prepare myself, and gone through and watched some of the past races there.

“I’ve also been able to talk to some people who have run well there and can use their advice to be better as well.”

On Benefit of Practice and Qualifying: “Being able to practice and qualify will be a big help for us. At Michigan, we were able to get a couple of laps in practice, but no qualifying so starting at the back made it tougher than it needed to be.

“Hopefully, we can use the practice to get up to speed on the track and make some minor adjustments if needed and then qualify near the front to be able to run with those guys in the race.”

On Goals For Kansas Speedway: My goal is definitely a top-five finish with our No. 02 Nic Tailor Custom Fit Underwear Chevrolet. I feel we could have easily accomplished this at Michigan had we not had the mechanical problems.”

  • Schrader and Swanson to tackle Salem’s highbanks in ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200

Schrader and Swanson to tackle Salem’s highbanks in ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200

A pair of former USAC Silver Crown Series champions will take to the high-banks at Salem Speedway this weekend for the ARCA Menards Series Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200, the final short track race of the series’ 2021 season.

For one of the former open wheel champions, he will be returning to the site of his 18th and final – for now – ARCA Menards Series victory. For the other, he’ll be looking to make his second career series start as he continues to build his budding resume in full-bodied stock cars.

Ken Schrader, the 1983 USAC Silver Crown champ, used that success to propel himself into a career that included the 1985 NASCAR Cup Series rookie of the year award, four career Cup wins, two Xfinity Series wins, a Camping World Truck Series wins, 18 ARCA Menards Series wins, and hundreds of wins all across the country on both paved and dirt short tracks.

Schrader’s most recent ARCA victory came on the hills at Salem Speedway in 2015. He returns looking to repeat that feat, driving for 1995 series champion Andy Hillenburg’s Fast Track High Performance Racing team. The two have a long history together, both highly successful open wheel short trackers who transitioned to stock cars and tasted success. Schrader was the car owner when Hillenburg won at Daytona in 1995, catapulting him to a championship run. The two most recently teamed up at DuQuoin in September, with Schrader driving to a third-place finish.

Kody Swanson’s career numbers in the Silver Crown division are unmatched. He’s a five-time series champion, and he holds a one-point lead over Logan Seavey headed into the series finale at Toledo Speedway on October 10 as he tries to lock down his record-extending sixth series championship. He is the career leader in series wins with 34, two of which came earlier this season at Lucas Oil Raceway in May and again in July.

Swanson will climb aboard the No. 21 GMS Racing Chevrolet headed up by 2016 ARCA Menards Series championship-winning crew chief Chad Bryant. The two teamed up for Swanson’s only previous series appearance, an eighth-place finish at Iowa Speedway in 2020.

Schrader and Swanson add flavor to what is already a packed weekend at Salem Speedway. The Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 is the finale for the Sioux Chief Showdown, the championship-within-the-championship in the ARCA Menards Series on short tracks and road courses. Ty Gibbs, the current overall championship leader, maintains a 17-point advantage over Corey Heim heading into Saturday’s 200-lapper. Gibbs was the winner the last time the series raced at Salem in 2019, leading 196 of the race’s 200 laps on his way to what was his second career series win.

The Salem Speedway Great American Stocks will also be in action with a 50-lap feature event, which will take place just after the on-track autograph session for the ARCA Menards Series drivers.

Advance discount tickets are available at 14 Indianapolis, Louisville, and southern Indiana Menards locations. Adult general admission tickets are just $20, a savings of $10 per race day ticket price.

  • ARCA winner Landen Lewis returns to competition at Salem Speedway

ARCA winner Landen Lewis returns to competition at Salem Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Still riding the momentum of his dominating ARCA Menards Series victory at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds in the Southern Illinois 100 on Sept. 5., Rette Jones Racing (RJR) and Austin Theriault Racing Development jointly announced today that 15-year-old Landen Lewis will return to competition this weekend at Salem (Ind.) Speedway.

With support and guidance from former ARCA champion Austin Theriault and four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion Ron Hornaday Jr., Lewis was able to improve on his seventh-place finish in his ARCA debut at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) to lead all 104 laps in his second career start at the 1.0-mile dirt track of the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

On the heels of the ARCA upset, the teenager is prepared to take all the knowledge and experience he has inhaled over the past six weeks and turn to the asphalt side of the ARCA Menards Series and do battle in Rette Jones Racing’s No. 30 19th Green | Plants Dire ct Nursery and Garden Center Ford Fusion in Saturday night’s Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200.

“The support has been so overwhelming, and I am incredibly grateful,” said Lewis. “I feel like I am living a dream being surrounded by all of these great people and to be able to accomplish what we did at DuQuoin was something I couldn’t have imagined until it actually happened.

“As proud as I am about DuQuoin, I am ready to move forward and focus on the path ahead for me and that includes getting back to ARCA competition this weekend at Salem Speedway.

“Obviously, I don’t have any experience on an asphalt track in ARCA competition, but I’ll continue to be surrounded by great people, including Austin (Theriault), Ron (Hornaday), Joey (Coulter) and Mark (Rette) whom I know will guide me and help make this transition as seamless as possible.”

Lewis graduated to the ARCA Menards Series level on the strength of a successful career in Karting, Legend Cars, Super Trucks and Dirt Modified competition.

In INEX Legends Car Series competition, the teenager has roared to 22 series victories while mastering 51 top-five finishes overall.

He is also the most recent Winter’s Heat champion winning a jaw-dropping nine of the 10 races.

The historic half-mile of Salem is often daunting for any rookie, but Lewis is approaching the weekend optimistic after many hours of studying video of past races and talking to drivers who have had success at the Southern Indiana short track.

Bridget Gets Wrecked Early at The Bull Ring in Vegas

TOOELE, UT, September 27, 2021 – A big weekend of motorsport rolled into Las Vegas this past weekend with the ARCA Menards West Series kicking off on Thursday at the Las Vegas Bull Ring located at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

True to form with September weather in Las Vegas it was hot! Bridget and the BMI Racing crew headed out for the combined practice/qualifying session in the late afternoon. The team spent time working with Bridget to continue to improve the setup on the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS during the session.

At the 15 minute to go mark, Bridget was sent out for a qualifying lap; she put in her best lap and at the end of the session qualified 13th out of a stacked field of 24 cars.

The green flag waived for the start of the Star Nursery 150 and Bridget got a clean start – as her spotter had said “You can’t win the race on the first lap”. It wasn’t long before the first caution came with a car spinning at turn 2; the field racked up again and the green flag waived again for the restart of the race.

Bridget continued to work her lines in the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS, being patient and not using up her equipment. Another caution flag waived, and the field lined up again for another restart. The cars accelerated past the start/finish line; Bridget became the victim of an over-aggressive driver and was turned mid corner, although Bridget did her best to stay out of trouble a back marker car hit her, ultimately damaging the front of her car ending her race early.

A replay of Thursday’s Star Nursery 150 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will broadcast on NBCSN on Thursday, Sept. 30, starting at 5 p.m. ET.

Bridget’s next race will be the NAPA Auto Care Center 150 presented by Berco Redwood at All American Speedway, Roseville, CA
