Heartbreaking End for Bridget Burgess at Irwindale Speedway

TOOELE, UT, August 24, 2021 – Bridget Burgess and the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS headed back to Irwindale Speedway last weekend for round 5 of the ARCA Menards West Series.

The ARCA Menards West Series running the same format as the July race, kicked off with practice/qualifying midafternoon. The team worked hard through the hour and fifteen-minute session to get the setup right for race. Towards the end of the session the team switched over to a qualifying setup only to miss out going back on track by seconds, meaning Bridget would start the race in 13th position.

Irwindale Speedway always knows how to put on a show, and once again they didn’t disappoint! The teams lined up the cars under the grandstand, allowing the spectators a close-up look of the race cars and drivers that were about to put on a show. This gave Bridget a great opportunity to interact with the fans signing hero cards and taking photos before the race.

As the sun started to set over the greater Los Angeles area, the green flag waived for the start of the start of the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Sunrise Ford. The stacked field of 20 cars roared into action in front of a packed crowd.

The caution flag waived signaling the halfway mandatory break; Bridget headed down pit road and the team went to work on the HMH Construction Chevrolet SS making a two-tire change, fuel and adjustments on the car.

Bridget continued to improve through the race, making gains where she could, and learning to fight the challenges that were in front of her. Heartbreak came with 5 laps to go when the left rear truck arm broke after entering turn 1. Bridget did a great job locking the car down preventing any further damage to the car, but her race was done for the night falling back to a 14th place finish.

A replay of Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Sunrise Ford will broadcast on NBCSN on Sunday, Aug. 29, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Bridget’s next race will be the ARCA Menards West Series on the road course at Portland International Raceway on Sept. 11 in conjunction with the Indy Car and Indy Lights.

Track: Michigan International Speedway, 2.-mile oval

Thad Moffitt, No. 46 Clean Harbors Ford Fusion
    Start: 4th
    Finish: 8th

    • Moffitt started the 100-lap event from the 4th position by way of his position in the owner’s point standings.
    • On lap one of the race, Moffitt was forced into the wall by a fellow competitor and had to pit for four fresh tires and damage repair. He went three laps down to the leaders, but rejoined in 15th.
    • The team decided to pit at the lap 35 competition break. On the first time down pit road, they added fuel and worked on damage and then came back down a second time to change all four tires.
    • The Clean Harbors Fusion was in 12th, 2 laps down when the caution flag waved for the second competition break on lap 70. The team changed tires and fueled up to make it to the end of the race.
    • After restarting 12th, Moffitt was able to log laps and advance up to the eighth position where he ultimately finished.

  • Jason Kitzmiller hunts first top-10 of 2021 in Michigan International Speedway return

Jason Kitzmiller hunts first top-10 of 2021 in Michigan International Speedway return

BROOKLYN, Mich: After nearly a two-month break in ARCA Menards Series competition, sophomore driver Jason Kitzmiller and CR7 Motorsports return to the tour set to compete in Friday evening’s Henry Ford Health System 200.

In his most recent outing at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Kitzmiller contended for a top-10 finish in the General Tire #AnyWhereIsPossible 200, but a Lap 59 crash while running inside the top-10 demolished their hopes and instead left the team with a disappointing 17th place finish.

Regrouped, refreshed and energized, the family-owned CR7 Motorsports managed by former ARCA driver Codie Rohrbaugh treks to the Irish Hills of Michigan International Speedway eager to deliver their first top-10 finish of the season.

Last year at Michigan, Kitzmiller started the race 16th and methodically marched his way forward and climbed into the top-10 late in the event to finish eighth, his career-best finish in the series.

This weekend, Kitzmiller is hopeful for a duplicate performance or better and capture his first top-10 of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season.

“I’m glad to be back this weekend at Michigan,” said Kitzmiller. “I left Pocono bummed about our finish but extremely thankful and encouraged by our performance. It was one of the most competitive ARCA races of my career.

“The CR7 Motorsports team and my crew chief Todd Myers brought me a great car and we found ourselves hunting a top-five when it got a little too crowded on the restart and we just got the rough end of it. Thankfully, we were able to get the car repaired and we’re focused on finishing what we started on Friday night.”

Michigan is touted as one of the fastest tracks on the ARCA Menards Series tour. A statement that doesn’t bother the Petersburg, WV native.

“I enjoy the fast speeds of Michigan, especially since there is a lot of room to race,” added Kitzmiller. “That helped with my comfort level last year and prepares for even more for this weekend. It’s a relatively easy track to drive.

“You can be aggressive as a driver and have room for recovery. That is a benefit for not only practice but the race too. We have just a half-hour of practice on Friday before the race. It’s going to be crucial for us to get out there and utilize as much of that half-hour as possible.

“We’ll evaluate ourselves after practice, make some changes to put us in a good and comfortable spot for the first break and then charge that second half – much like we did last year and hope it all works out.”

Additionally, Kitzmiller will also continue to adorn a decal remembering CR7 Motorsports general manager Mark Huff who passed away in February after a brief illness. Huff was responsible for helping revive the ARCA Menards Series team in 2020.

“I will always Mark for his carrying of people on this CR7 Motorsports team and his enormous work ethic. He did a lot for the team and is irreplaceable,” remarked Kitzmiller. “We will race to win in his honor on Friday night.”

Kitzmiller and CR7 Motorsports will run a partial ARCA schedule in 2021 with a firmer schedule planned for next season.

Marketing partnership(s) opportunities are available for the No. 97 A.L.L. Construction Chevrolet and No. 9 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series seasons and beyond. • Toyota Clinches 2021 ARCA Menards Series Manufacturer’s Championship

Toyota Clinches 2021 ARCA Menards Series Manufacturer’s Championship

PLANO, Texas (August 19, 2021) – Toyota captured its sixth manufacturer’s championship in the ARCA Menards Series and its fifth-consecutive ARCA title following Corey Heim’s fifth victory of the season at Watkins Glen International on August 6.

Toyota began the season with nine consecutive wins and has won 12 of the 13 races completed this season. In 2020, Toyota clinched the title with 13 victories in 20 ARCA Menards Series events.

“Everyone at Toyota is pleased to have clinched our fifth-consecutive ARCA Menards Series manufacturer’s title,” said Paul Doleshal, Group Manager, Motorsports and Assets, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “We have witnessed thrilling racing throughout the ARCA season with the future stars of NASCAR. Ty (Gibbs) and Corey (Heim) are delivering a great championship battle and we look forward to watching them compete for the title over these last seven events.”

Toyota supports four ARCA Menards Series teams, including Venturini Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing, Hattori Racing Enterprises and Bill McAnally Racing. All season it has been an exciting title race between two teenagers – Heim and Ty Gibbs – for victories and the championship lead. Gibbs currently has the upper hand with seven wins, but Venturini Motorsports’ Heim closed the championship battle to just two points with his victory in his Toyota Camry at Watkins Glen.

Toyota first entered the ARCA Racing Series in 2007 and has captured six manufacturer’s titles (2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and six driver’s titles (2009, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019). Heim also delivered Toyota’s 100th ARCA Menards Series victory last fall at Kansas Speedway. Toyota now sits at 112 national ARCA Menards Series wins.

  • Greg Van Alst and team ride momentum to Michigan International Speedway

Greg Van Alst and team ride momentum to Michigan International Speedway

BROOKLYN, Mich: Still embracing the emotions of his career-best ARCA Menards Series finish at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway last month, Greg Van Alst and his Greg Van Alst Motorsports team head to Michigan International Speedway eager for a duplicate performance in Friday evening’s Henry Ford Health System 200.

An added race to his ARCA schedule at Winchester, Van Alst utilized the 200-lap race to improve the handling on his No. 35 CB Fabricating Ford Fusion and found himself second on the final restart behind Ty Gibbs hunting for his first career ARCA victory.

While Van Alst attempted to steal the win from the Joe Gibbs Racing powerhouse driver, Van Alst settled for a runner-up finish and added fuel to the team’s program and the mindset that a family-owned team can compete and challenge with ARCA’s finest.

“It has been a little more than two weeks since Winchester, but I mean the adrenaline and attitude around our team is that we won the race,” said Van Alst. “Everyone knows that I have a love and hate relationship with Winchester and still do, but our performance was a total team effort.

“We worked hard on a brand new race car acquired from Chad Bryant and had to really throw everything at it during the final break to put ourselves in that position. The finish is such a huge boost to this race team and something that we definitely want to build on at Michigan.”

Van Alst will make his ninth career ARCA Menards Series start Friday at Michigan’s two-mile oval and even though he doesn’t have any prior experience in the Irish Hills, the Anderson, Ind. native is still optimistic about the challenge that awaits him and interim crew chief Jeff McClure.

“I’m looking forward to Michigan this weekend,” added Van Alst. “Obviously, it’s another race track that I have never been to, but I am looking forward to getting on the track and getting some laps before the race.

“We have an incredibly short practice like two hours before the race on Friday, so it’s going to be important to dial in our No. 35 CB Fabricating Ford Fusion as best as we can and making good adjustments during the race. I’d like to think that we are capable of another top-five finish on Friday evening, but it has to be like Winchester where everything played out just right.”

The lack of track time doesn’t necessarily worry the 2019 ARCA CRA champion.

“It’s the same for everyone, so you have to feel comfortable with the balance in that,” sounded Van Alst. “I know Michigan is an incredibly fast track, but I am ready for that. I love how wide Michigan is and the ability to race multiple grooves. The draft will be a huge factor for much of the race, including the start and restarts.

“Taking advantage of that momentum on the track is going to be key to setting your pace. We’ll just see what happens.”
CB Fabricating, a longtime partner with Greg Van Alst Motorsports has boosted its commitment to the team and will continue its role as the primary marketing partner of Van Alst’s No. 35 Ford.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

Their 26,000 square foot facility allows them to service the needs of many different industries. Everything from the Automotive, agricultural, aquatic, medical, transportation, electrical enclosures, and much more.

For the third consecutive race, not only is Van Alst racing for third top-10 finish of the year on Friday, but awareness too.

CB Fabricating president Chris Barkdull was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and will utilize the ARCA event to bring attentiveness and awareness to the disease as Barkdull continues treatment.

“Chris couldn’t be at two races at once, so he wasn’t at Winchester, but he was the first person I talked too when I climbed out of the car,” remarked Van Alst. “I told him that none of this would have been possible without him. He’s just not an investor or a partner in this thing – he’s family.

“While we are focused on performance, we are fully invested in awareness too. This is important to Chris to do his part to educate the public and that is exactly what he is going to do, and we are happy to keep using the race car to our advantage.”

In addition to CB Fabricating, Top Choice Fence, Norton Transport, KRJ Race Products and Lintz Creative will serve as associate marketing partners for Van Alst’s ninth career ARCA start.

Following Michigan, Van Alst’s next ARCA Menards Series race with regular crew chief Jim Long is located in Thunder Valley at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway for the Bush’s Beans 200 on Thurs., Sept. 16, 2021.

  • Landen Lewis to make ARCA Menards Series debut at Springfield with Rette Jones Racing Development

Landen Lewis to make ARCA Menards Series debut at Springfield with Rette Jones Racing Development

SPRINGFIELD, Ill.: Rette Jones Racing Development (RJRD) and Austin Theriault Racing Development jointly announced today that 15-year-old Landen Lewis will make his ARCA Menard Series debut in the highly anticipated Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) this Sun., Aug. 22.

Lewis will drive the No. 2 L&A South | Lou Lou’s Waterfront Restaurant Toyota Camry prepared by RJR Development with several racing icons who have offered their advice to the Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. native.

Lewis graduates to the ARCA Menards Series on the strength of a successful career in Legends Cars, Super Trucks and Dirt Modified competition.

In Legend Car competition, the teenager has roared to 22 series victories while mastering 51 top-five finishes overall.

He is also the most recent Winter Heat champion winning a jaw-dropping nine of the 10 races.

Advancing to Dirt Modifieds driving for four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion Ron Hornaday Jr. Under his leadership, Lewis has mastered five poles, six wins, eight-second place runs and 27 top-fives.

Lewis is banking on his experience in Dirt Modifieds to help ease his transition to stock cars on dirt at the historic 1.0-mile Illinois State Fairgrounds with advice not only from Hornaday but racing icon Ken Schrader, a former ARCA Menards Series winner at Springfield and close friend of Hornaday.

“This is such an unbelievable opportunity,” said Lewis. “I can’t thank Rette Jones Racing, Austin (Theriault), the Hornaday family, Mr. Ken Schrader and everyone who has been incredibly helpful and instrumental in helping make my ARCA Menards Series debut possible.

“I don’t know what to expect on Sunday, but I have a ton of confidence thanks to all the advice from everyone around me. My goal is to have a smooth practice and an even better qualifying session and make progress during the 100-lap race.

“I know Mark (Rette) and the entire Rette Jones Racing Development team has been working hard on our No. 2 L&A South Toyota Camry and I think a top-10 finish or better is definitely in our potential.”

Hornaday, a former winner in ARCA Menards Series competition says Lewis is ready for the opportunity that awaits him at the Springfield mile.

“I have been working with Landen since he was 12 and he reminds me a lot of myself when I was that young,” explained Hornaday. “He’s ambitious and eager to learn and always excels when given a new challenge. It’s awesome to work with Landen.

“I’m a true believer in order to be the best you must be hands-on and understand everything about your car and Landen is always one of the first to jump in and help on his car and his teammates’ cars and always appreciates the things that people do for him.

“This is going to be awesome for Landen getting experience in a heavier car and continue his development to be a more well-rounded driver.”

Theriault who has taken on a management role with Lewis is a former ARCA champion and earned a pole at Springfield in 2017 before finishing second to fellow ARCA champion Grant Enfinger.

“Landen is an aggressive, but smart driver who I know can be successful at this level,” explained the eight-time ARCA winner. “Despite it being a big step for him, his previous dirt experience combined with the people who have mentored him along the way will allow him to adapt quickly to the opportunity that is before him.”

Team owner and former ARCA championship crew chief Rette is no stranger to working with a flow of young drivers and hopes to guide Lewis to Victory Lane.

“I enjoy giving young drivers the chance to showcase their talents,” sounded Rette. “When Austin (Theriault) and Ron (Hornaday) spoke highly of Landen and what he has accomplished at his age, I knew that we needed to put something together to allow him to make his debut with us.

“We look forward to the opportunity to put Rette Jones Racing in Victory Lane for the second time in 2021.”

In addition to L&A South and LouLou’s Waterfront Restaurant, Calabash Seafood Hut, CARQUEST Auto Parts, Crystal Babson Century 21, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Joe Ryan Race Cars, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement, L & A Auto North, Quality Auto Body & Collision, Reeves Complete Auto Center Inc., Simpson, Skyline Sign and Team Hornaday join the team as partners this weekend.

  • Advance discount tickets now available for ARCA Menards Series Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds

Advance discount tickets now available for ARCA Menards Series Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds

As it has since every year since 1983, the ARCA Menards Series returns to the Illinois State Fair on Sunday, August 22 for the Allen Crowe 100, the first of two races the series will contest on one-mile dirt tracks in 2021. Fans can get a jump on the ticket rush at the gate by stopping at one of the several Springfield-area and central Illinois-area Menards locations to purchase advance discount tickets for just $20, a savings of $10 off the race day ticket price.

The race, which will return to its traditional spot on the closing day of the Illinois State Fair in 2021 after moving to October due to the pandemic last season, will be the fifteenth race of the 20-race championship in the Toledo, Ohio-based stock car tour’s 69th season. After the most recent race, on the road course at Watkins Glen International in New York, Ty Gibbs holds a perilously small two-point advantage over hard-charging Corey Heim in the battle for the series title.

Gibbs, the grandson of Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach and NASCAR Hall of Fame car owner Joe Gibbs, has won seven times in the ARCA Menards Series in 2021, and has also scored three victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year. Gibbs became just the sixth driver in history to win in his Xfinity Series debut when he won on the road course at Daytona International Speedway in February, and he has backed it up with wins at Charlotte Motor Speedway and at Watkins Glen.

His dominant season in the ARCA Menards Series has seen him win at Phoenix Raceway, Kansas Speedway, Toledo Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Iowa Speedway, and Winchester Speedway. He’s led 989 laps, more than three times the next nearest competitor – Heim – and he’s started from the General Tire Pole in nine of the series’ 13 races to this point.

But the dirt tracks have not been kind to Gibbs in his tenure in the ARCA Menards Series. He finished 15th in his debut at Springfield in 2019 and improved to tenth in 2020. That could leave the door wide open for Heim, who has finished seventh and eighth in his two previous Springfield appearances. Heim has also made one start at the other one-mile dirt oval on the ARCA Menards Series schedule, finishing third at the Southern Illinois State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin in 2019.

Heim, in his first full season driving for two-time ARCA Menards Series champion Bill Venturini and his family-owned team, narrowed Gibbs’ points advantage with his fifth win of the season in the most recent round at Watkins Glen. Heim’s other wins in 2021 have come at Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Pocono Raceway, and Elko Speedway.

  • BRADYIFS SPONSORS EMERGING COLOMBIAN DRIVER SEBASTIAN ARIAS

BRADYIFS SPONSORS EMERGING COLOMBIAN DRIVER SEBASTIAN ARIAS

Sebastian Arias Making Debut at Irwindale Speedway

August 12, 2021 (Los Angeles, CA) Irwindale Raceway will see a new driver on August 21st, as Sebastian Arias makes his debut in the ARCA Menards Series West race with Bill McAnally Racing.

Sebastian is a first-generation race car driver from Bogota, Colombia. At twenty-one years old, he is the next Colombian driver coming up the ranks of NASCAR since Juan Pablo Montoya. Sebastian began his racing career at the age of eleven when he expressed an interest in karting. His natural ability for driving propelled him quickly through the ranks and opened doors for him.

The desire and motivation to be a champion compelled Sebastian’s father, and biggest fan, Nestor Arias, to sell the family home in Bogota so that he could finance Sebastian’s journey through the racing ranks to his ultimate dream of NASCAR. The money helped him get where he is today, though it ran out years ago. Now it is Sebastian’s driving ability, humility, and perseverance that must take him all the way to the NASCAR Cup Series.

Owned by NASCAR, the ARCA Menards Series is a proving ground and rung in the ladder to reach the pinnacle of their sport, the NASCAR Cup Series. Sebastian plans on competing in two more of this year’s ARCA Menards Series West races in Las Vegas and Phoenix, and then move to a full-time schedule in the ARCA Menards Series in 2022. From there, Sebastian can move into the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2023 and to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024.

Sebastian is extremely grateful for the sponsorship support from BradyIFS. Sebastian said, “I feel extremely blessed to have this opportunity with BradyIFS. I want to thank the team at BradyIFS for not only believing in my abilities to drive a race car, but also for helping me advance my career. I look forward to meeting BradyIFS’ employees and customers at their headquarters in Los Angeles the day before the race, and at the track.”

Sebastian went on to say, “I also want to thank Bill McAnally for giving me this opportunity to drive one of his cars. He has built the best team in this series and has ten championships to prove it!”

Since teaming up with his management company InterPhase Entertainment earlier this year, Sebastian has gained sponsorship from BradyIFS, Wiley X, BeyondEnergy, SPARCO, NextLevel Racing and Thrustmaster, with more sponsors looking at what Sebastian is doing. His manager Ryan Johnston says, “Sebastian is the next-generation Colombian driver breaking into the ranks of NASCAR. He used to watch Juan Pablo Montoya race in NASCAR with his family on the couch from their home in Bogota, Colombia. The fire in Sebastian to reach his goals are evident with his willingness to learn and adapt, which is crucial in this competitive business. Sebastian had wanted to work with us for over five years and my thoughts on him were accurate, sponsors are taking notice.”

The ARCA Menards Series West race at Irwindale Speedway can be seen on NBC Sports on August 29th at 4:30 p.m. EDT. Follow Sebastian at @sebastianariasracing and watch his progression as he climbs the ladder of NASCAR.

Milwaukee Mile Fans Can get a Case for the ARCA Menards Series Race, and Free Sunglasses Too

West Allis, WI (Aug. 10, 2021) – Race fans in and around southeastern Wisconsin and throughout the upper Midwest are getting excited about the Sprecher 150 ARCA Menards Series events scheduled for Sunday, August 29 at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway.

    And for good reason.

First and foremost, the Sprecher 150 marks the return of the ARCA Menards Series to the Milwaukee Mile for the first time since Frank Kimmel’s victory at the historic venue in 2007, a gap of over 14 years.

Secondly, the event will be a part of three championship battles: the ARCA Menards Series national championship, the Sioux Chief Showdown – a championship-within-a-championship that allows drivers under the age of 18 to compete for a series title – and the ARCA Menards Series East.

Last, but not least, fans have a chance to come to the race for free.

With the purchase of specially marked cases of Sprecher Root Beer at Menards, fans can redeem their original cash register receipt from the purchase at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds ticket office to receive a free general admission ticket to the race.

And fans who redeem their cash register receipts early will now have the chance to also receive a free pair of Sunglasses, courtesy of Sprecher and Menards, while supplies last.

“As always, we are hoping and planning for great weather for the Sprecher 150 at the Milwaukee Mile,” commented Menards Spokesperson Jeff Abbott. “And so, optimistically, we are expecting a sunny day, and thought sunglasses would be a nice touch to this already great promotion.”

Fans who purchase specially marked cases of Sprecher Root Beer between June 20 and August 28 can redeem their Menards cash register receipt for a free ticket to the Sprecher 150. The cash register receipts can be redeemed on raceday – Sunday August 29 – at the Milwaukee Mile Box Office on the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. Ticket redemption is limited to one ticket per case purchased, but there is no limit on the number of cases fans can purchase. The receipt redemption is open Monday through Friday from now until August 27 from 9am to 3pm at the Wisconsin State Fair ticket office, located at 7722 W. Greenfield Avenue, near the gate 1a entrance to the fairgrounds. The free sunglasses will be available while supplies last.

Fans can also redeem their original cash register receipts on race day, Sunday, August 29, beginning at 9am local time at the Expo Ticket Office outside turn one of the race track.

In addition, Menards is selling tickets to the Sprecher 150 for just $20, a $10 discount off the price of admission on race day.
