Bridget Battles at Irwindale Speedway in front of a HUGE Crowd

TOOELE, UT, July 5, 2021 – True to form Bridget spent her time in the BMI Racing race shop helping prepare her HMH Construction Chevrolet ARCA car for round 3 of the ARCA Menards West Series being held at Irwindale Speedway in Southern California.

In the heat of the day, the cars rolled out on track for the combined practice/qualifying session. While this was Bridget’s second time racing at Irwindale Speedway, it was the first time racing at that track in her new chassis. The team worked on the car, and Bridget continued to work on her braking points and drive off the corner. The session wrapped up with Bridget being 14th fastest.

This was the first race of the season with no restrictions on spectators, and Irwindale Speedway put on show for the fans with their Night of Destruction. Activities included a driver autograph session, the ARCA Menards West Race, jet car burndown, trailer destruction races and the largest fireworks of the year, just to name a few items!

The green flag waived and Bridget speed across the start/finish line in the HMH Construction Chevrolet. Working hard to find her rhythm, Bridget continued to work with her spotter on her lines, and braking points.

At the halfway mark at 75 laps there was a 5 minute break for teams to service the cars. The crew from BMI Racing serviced the car with Sunoco Race Fuel and tires, and making a track bar adjustment to improve the handling.

The green flag dropped once again for the second half of the race. The changes made by crew chief Sarah Burgess helped with the handling and Bridget continued to improve. An incident on lap 119 caused Bridget to take evasive action to avoid the 2 car crash, unfortunately her car backed into the wall. The car was brought back down pit road, and the team went to work on it and managed to get Bridget back out on track. The HMH Construction Chevrolet finished 13th.

A replay of Saturday’s NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by the West Coast Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame will air on NBCSN on Thursday, July 8, starting at 4 p.m. ET.

Bridget’s next race will be the ARCA Menards West Series at Colorado National Speedway July 31st.

Bridget is powered by these great companies:

  • ARCA to Honor Four Home-state Champions at July 24 Shore Lunch 150 at Iowa Speedway

ARCA to Honor Four Home-state Champions at July 24 Shore Lunch 150 at Iowa Speedway

Fans attending the upcoming Shore Lunch 150 on July 24th at Iowa Speedway can meet and mingle with ARCA Menards Series drivers prior to the night’s feature event. As a part of the day’s festivities, series and track officials have added a 30-minute driver autograph session to the calendar at 6:45 p.m. CT.

Four former ARCA champions – all with deep Iowa ties – will also be a part of the day’s activities and participate in the autograph session.

Three-time ARCA Menards Series champion Ron Hutcherson (1972-74) and two-time champion Ramo Stott (1970-71), both from Keokuk, will be joined by West Des Moines native and 2014 series titlist Mason Mitchell. The three drivers will be joined by nine-time ARCA Menards Series car owner champion, and Iowa Speedway founding partner, Larry Clement. All four will serve as pre-race dignitaries and be honored prior to the Shore Lunch 150.

Hutcherson’s career as a driver did not last long, but he made the most out of his time behind the wheel, winning 12 times and winning three consecutive series championships. Hutcherson also won at Daytona and Talladega in addition to a slew of short tracks across the Midwest He made 10 career starts in the Cup Series, finishing fourth in the 1978 Daytona 500 after starting on the front row. After his driving career, he and his brother Dick partnered in the Hutcherson-Pagan chassis and parts company, building hundreds of race-winning cars for many of the top teams and drivers in the 1980s and 90s.

Stott won 27 times throughout his ARCA Menards Series career, from dusty short tracks like Clay City Raceway to Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Stott’s final win came in 1988 at Kentucky’s Perry County Speedway. He went on to make 35 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, 10 of which he raced into the lead and was the pole sitter for the 1975 Daytona 500.

Mitchell scored three wins as a driver, including a cornerstone win at Iowa Speedway in 2015 that he said at the time was “bigger than winning the Daytona 500.” After winning the series title, he transitioned into team ownership and won races with drivers Austin Wayne Self and Gus Dean.

Clement set the bar for team ownership, winning nine series titles with ARCA’s all-time series win leader Frank Kimmel at the wheel. In addition to his stellar record as a car owner, which will likely go unmatched, Clement was an instrumental part of the group that built Iowa Speedway in 2005 and 2006.

“We wouldn’t be here today if not for those who came before us,” said ARCA President Ron Drager. ”We greatly appreciate the contributions that Ramo, Ron, Mason, and Larry made to ARCA, both on a national scale and in their home state. We are looking forward to getting to Iowa so the fans can celebrate that history with their local heroes in person.”

The day’s on-track activities start with a 45-minute practice session at 4:15 pm CT, followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 6 pm CT. The driver autograph session, held on the fan concourse behind the turn four grandstands, is set for 6:45 and will lead into pre-race activities at 7:30. The green flag is expected shortly after 8 pm CT. The race will also be televised live on MAVTV and streamed on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.

Fans can purchase advance discount tickets at Des Moines-area Menards locations for just $20. For further event info, please visit IowaSpeedway.com or ARCARacing.com.

  • Greg Van Alst plans to conquer Pocono Raceway

Greg Van Alst plans to conquer Pocono Raceway

LONG POND, Pa.: Set to make his fifth ARCA Menards Series start of the season in Friday afternoon’s General Tire #AnyWhereIsPossible 200 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Greg Van Alst is eyeing to conquer the track dubbed “The Tricky Triangle” and record his first top-five of the season.

The 2019 ARCA CRA champion has certainly made a lot of noise this season in his own No. 35 CB Fabricating Chevrolet SS – but Van Alst is hungry to finish what he started last month at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

In his Charlotte debut, the Anderson, Ind. native contended early inside the top-five before electrical setbacks ruined their performance and left the Greg Van Alst Motorsports team with a 14th-place result.

“I can’t wait to get to Pocono Raceway this weekend for a lot of reasons,” said Van Alst. “Not only because it is a new race track – but it’s an opportunity to bounce back from a good Charlotte performance that was overshadowed with an OK finish.

“I believe we have corrected the gremlins that stole a top-10 finish from at Charlotte and look forward to Pocono and the challenges the track presents.”

Van Alst turned his first laps on Thursday partaking in an open test session at the Lond Pond race track.

Throughout the session, Van Alst’s lap times continued to improve before landing eighth quickest overall.

“The test was very productive,” sounded Van Alst. “The track is certainly unique but also very technical. I learned a lot at the test that should help for practice, qualifying and the race on Friday.”

When it comes to Pocono, Van Alst is determined to put his team inside the top-five when the checkered flag waves.

“I believe Pocono is one of those places we can make it happen,” he continued. “It’s a place where some strategy could fall into our hands. A top-five would certainly feel like a win for us, so that is what we are chasing.”

CB Fabricating, a longtime partner with Greg Van Alst Motorsports has boosted its commitment to the team and will continue its role as the primary marketing partner of Van Alst’s No. 35 Chevrolet.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

Their 26,000 square foot facility allows them to service the needs of many different industries. Everything from the Automotive, agricultural, aquatic, medical, transportation, electrical enclosures, and much more.

For the second consecutive race, not only is Van Alst racing for his second top-10 finish of the year on Friday but awareness too.

CB Fabricating president Chris Barkdull was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and will utilize the ARCA event through the in-car camera to bring attentiveness and awareness to the disease as Barkdull begins treatment soon.

“We would not be racing at Pocono – heck any of these ARCA races this season without Chris,” added Van Alst. “He’s just not an investor or a partner in this thing – he’s family. When he was diagnosed he was determined to do his part to educate the public and that is exactly what he is going to do.”

In addition to CB Fabricating, Top Choice Fence, Norton Transport, KRJ Race Products and Lintz Creative will serve as associate marketing partners for Van Alst’s eighth career ARCA start.

Should Van Alst leave Pocono cleanly, he plans to add the upcoming ARCA Menards Series race at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway to his summer schedule on Jul. 31.

Additional specifics on Greg Van Alst Motorsports’ 2021 ARCA Menards Series program are forthcoming, including a detailed series schedule.

For more on Greg Van Alst and Greg Van Alst Motorsports, please stay tuned for a new website, but like them on Facebook (Van Alst Motorsports) and follow him on Twitter (@GregVanAlst35).

The General Tire #AnyWhereIsPossible 200 (80 laps | 200 miles) is the eighth of 20 races on the 2021 ARCA Menards Series schedule. A quick forty-five practice session begins on Fri., Jun. 25 from 2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. General Tire pole qualifying is slated for 4:00 p.m., with the green flag set to wave shortly after 6:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), while ARCARacing.com will stream live timing and scoring throughout the entire weekend festivities. The stars and cars of the ARCA Menards Series return to the legendary Berlin Raceway, located just west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan, on Saturday night, July 17 in the Zinsser Smart Coat 200. The event marks the return of the nationally touring, nationally televised stock car series to West Michigan after a two-year hiatus.

“Berlin Raceway has a long history of hosting some the biggest short track events in the Midwest and we’re proud to carry on that tradition again with the Zinsser Smart Coat 200,” said Berlin Raceway president and general manager Jeff Striegle. “Our fans are always tuned up for long-distance races, and at 200 laps there’s a lot of racing to be done. It’s a great distance because the drivers have to be patiently aggressive. There’s no time to waste but there’s also an element of strategy. We’re looking forward to a great race in front of a lot of great race fans.”

The Zinsser Smart Coat 200 is the second of four straight Saturday night short track events and promises to be one of the highlights of the summer stretch. The Saturday night event is scheduled for live, flag to flag broadcast on MavTV, and streaming on NBC Sports Gold’s Track Pass digital platform.

Zinsser, a Rust-Oleum brand of primers, sealers, and coatings, was reintroduced to the ARCA Menards Series in 2020 when the company served as the entitlement sponsor at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Zinsser also served as a team sponsor in the late 1990s, sponsoring ARCA legend Jack Bowsher’s team with driver Bob Strait.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the ARCA Menards Series again,” said Don Muench, Senior Vice President of Sales, at Rust-Oleum. “The ARCA Menards Series has a lot of great up-and-coming drivers and a great fan base. We’re proud to be a part of it.”

The event will also serve as round four of the Sioux Chief Showdown, a ten-race series within the greater ARCA Menards Series. The Sioux Chief Showdown allows drivers under the age of 18 the opportunity to compete for a championship within the ARCA Menards Series. In 2020, seventeen-year-old Sam Mayer won the Sioux Chief Showdown title, propelling him into an opportunity with the JR Motorsports organization in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2021.

Ticket and race information is available at BerlinRaceway.com. The day’s track activity will start at 4:15 pm with a 45-minute practice, followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 6 pm ET. The green flag will wave on the Zinsser Smart Coat 200 shortly after 8 pm ET. The race will be televised live flag-to-flag on MAVTV and streamed live on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.
