Bridget Shines in First Road Course Race at Sonoma

TOOELE, UT, June 8, 2021 – Bridget Burgess and the BMI Racing team had a plan for success at her first career ARCA Menards West road course race at Sonoma Raceway this past weekend. Utilizing the tools available to her included seat time in her HMH Construction Chevrolet ARCA car at Utah Motorsports Campus, as well as competing in the NASA Northern California event the week prior.

The single day format gave the competitors only an hour for a combined practice and qualifying session. Bridget headed out on track for a few laps at the start of the session to ensure the setup of the car felt right, and that she was comfortable and focused in the HMH Construction Chevrolet. The team put on a fresh set of tires and sent her out for a qualifying run. Bridget put in a great effort during the session and for a long time was sitting in 6th, by the end of the session she had slipped back to 9th.

The short break between qualifying and the race gave Bridget an opportunity to catch up with fans as Sonoma Raceway opened its doors to spectators for the weekend – the first time in over a year.

The green flag dropped and Bridget accelerated across the start finish line in the HMH Construction Chevrolet. Driving smart and being patient Bridget had moved up to 5th position, and then at lap 16 was turned by overly aggressive driver putting her back to 16th.

It was time for the halfway break, and the team went to work changing the tires and making adjustments to the car for the last 25 laps of the race. The green flag dropped once again, and Bridget focused again on being patient and working with the equipment she had. The second half of the race was a battle, but Bridget wheeled the HMH Construction Chevrolet to an 8th place finish out of a 22 car field. A career best finish for Bridget.

A replay of Saturday’s race at Sonoma will broadcast on NBCSN on Wednesday, June 9 at 6 p.m. ET.
Bridget’s next race will be the ARCA Menards West Series at Irwindale Speedway on July 3rd

Bridget is powered by these great companies: HMH Construction, GEARWRENCH, Rugged Radios, Cometic Gasket, Ferrea Racing Components, FK Rod Ends, Fragola Performance Systems, GC Cooling Fan, GT Radial, Hawk Performance, Impact Race Products, K&N Filters, Konig, Lucas Oil, Miller Electric, ProAm, PSC Motorsports, Sunoco Race Fuel, Tilton, XS Power

  • Chase Briscoe Races To Victory In General Tire 200 ARCA Menards West Series Race at Sonoma Raceway

Chase Briscoe Races To Victory In General Tire 200 ARCA Menards West Series Race at Sonoma Raceway

SONOMA, Calif. (June 5, 2021) – NASCAR Cup Series rookie Chase Briscoe raced to the victory in the General Tire 200 ARCA Menards West Series race Saturday at Sonoma Raceway.

Briscoe, who used the start to gain more experience on the 12-turn Sonoma Raceway road course, started third and took the lead early in his No. 14 Ford Fusion and never looked back. Only 13 of the 22 cars that started the 50-lap race finished.

Briscoe finished in front of Dylan Lupton for the victory, his first in the ARCA Menards West Series and seventh career ARCA Series win. It was his first-ever start at Sonoma.

“It’s a really cool place and I’ve never been out here,” Briscoe said. “I learned a lot running 50 laps today. Tomorrow is going to be tougher than today was. This is a cool part of the country, I haven’t been out here before and I’m enjoying it so far. I want to thank the fans for coming out. It should be a lot of fun tomorrow.”

Lupton started sixth in his No. 4 Toyota and worked his way to the front to grab the runner-up spot.

“Overall it was a good day, we wanted one spot better, but Chase was really good out there,” Lupton said. “We really struggled with the carousel and in the second half of the race we had motor issues and it really hurt our restarts. I want to thank the team for giving me a great car and now it’s time to go celebrate a good finish.”

P.J. Pedroncelli finished third in his No. 33 Chevy after starting 14th and was followed by Cole Moore in the No. 99 NAPA Toyota and Todd Souza, who rounded out the top five after starting second in the No. 13 Ford.

“We didn’t have a fast car in qualifying, but we saved our stuff and it paid off at the end,” Pedroncelli said. “I drove hard and made a good finish.”

Other notable finishers included pole winner Jake Drew, who ran up front but a late race spin relegated him to a seventh-place finish. Stock car rising star Jesse Love, who started eighth, finished 19th after having his share of issues navigating his No. 16 Toyota around the challenging road course. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Zane Smith started fourth, but exited the race after the engine on his No. 17 Chevrolet billowed smoke shortly after the green flag. Smith, currently sixth in the Truck points standings, finished 21st.

In the first of two Historic Trans Am races for the weekend, Richard Goldsmith, of Gilroy, drove his No. 77 1970 Dodge Challenger to the victory, which was a 30-minute timed race. Saratoga’s Jim Hague finished second in a ’70 Mustang, Jeffrey O’Neill of Larkspur was third in a ’69 Mustang, Patrick Byrne of Spokane, Wash. took fourth in a ’67 Mustang, and Holland, Mich.’s Bill Ockerlund in a ’69 Camaro rounded out the top five.

FOX NASCAR lead announcer Mike Joy finished 18th behind the wheel of the black and gold No. 89 1966 Mustang among the 22 cars that took the green flag.

Tomorrow’s Historic Trans Am race is also a 30-minute timed race and is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. PT start.

Briscoe and the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series stars will hit the iconic road course in California wine country Sunday for the Toyota/Save Mart 350, the third of seven road course races on the 2021 schedule. The green flag is scheduled to wave at 1 p.m. PT with coverage on FS1 and PRN Radio.

  • Kris Wright joins Rette Jones Racing for limited ARCA Menards Series schedule

Kris Wright joins Rette Jones Racing for limited ARCA Menards Series schedule

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Officials from Rette Jones Racing (RJR) announced today that Sports Car standout Kris Wright will drive the team’s No. 30 Ford Fusion for three ARCA Menards Series this season starting this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

America’s Auto Auction which offers a full spectrum of Dealers Services necessary to successfully complete the remarketing needs for both buyers and sellers will serve as the primary marketing partner for Wright’s seventh career ARCA race.

In addition to Friday’s Dawn 150, Wright will also compete at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway on June 25 and at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International Road Course on Aug. 6, 2021.

Wright is utilizing this weekend’s ARCA race at Mid-Ohio for extra track time as he prepares to make his third NASCAR Xfinity Series start of the season in Saturday’s BL Transport 170 for Sam Hunt Racing.

“I am excited to return to the ARCA Menards Series this weekend with Rette Jones Racing,” said Wright. “These additional races on my 2021 schedule will undoubtedly help as I work to get more experience in these heavier vehicles and the NASCAR footprint.

“I became familiar with Rette Jones Racing when I competed in ARCA last year and to see what that team has done since then – especially getting back to Victory Lane in February – gives me great confidence that I can do the same thing on Friday evening.”

Wright, 26, has already been dubbed a pre-race favorite for the seventh ARCA race of the season considering his road course racing accomplishments outside of NASCAR and his prior experience at the 2.258-mile, 13 turn road course.

Wright began his transition to stock cars last season following a successful stint in Sports Cars, including a second-place finish in the LMP2 class in the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The Wexford, Pa. native also claimed the IMSA Prototype Challenge championship (LMP3) in 2019 after scoring the IMSA Prototype Challenge Rookie of the Year honors in 2017.

Last June, Wright also competed in two ARCA Menards Series West races on the road course of Utah Motorsports Campus where he finished second and third, respectively.

“It always helps to go to a track where you have experience,” added Wright. “Even though I don’t have laps around Mid-Ohio in an ARCA or Xfinity car – I believe my previous race experience in Sports Cars at Mid-Ohio will pay dividends and put me in a position to contend for the win in both series.

“I have three opportunities with Rette Jones Racing and I certainly want to make the most of the opportunity for the team, myself and especially our marketing partners.”

“Rette Jones Racing is excited to have a road racing driver of Kris Wright’s caliber on our side not only for this weekend at Mid-Ohio, but at Pocono and Watkins Glen too,” offered Rette Jones Racing co-owner Mark Rette.

“His experience and general input and dialogue for road racing will prove to be instrumental for our team as we look for ways to enhance all areas of our team. Certainly, Kris can assist with our road course program in a monumental way. I’m looking forward to Friday.”

In his previous six ARCA Menards Series races, Wright has three career top-10 finishes, including a career-high seventh twice at Lebanon I-44 Speedway and his most recent ARCA race at Kansas Speedway in October 2020.

In addition to America’s Auto Auction, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as partners this weekend.

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

The Dawn 150 (42 laps | 94.84 miles) is the seventh of 20 races on the 2021 ARCA Menards Series schedule. A combined practice and qualifying session begins on Fri., Jun. 4, with a forty-five-minute practice session from 2:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. The race is set to take the green flag shortly after 6:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), the Motor Racing Network (MRN | Radio) and SiriusXM channel 391 or SiriusXM online channel 981. • The Ford driver is coming off of a seventh-place run at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway last Saturday night. The result marked his fifth straight top-10 of the season.
    • With his two top-five and five top-10 finishes, Moffitt sits third in the series standings, 47 points behind point leader Corey Heim and 37 points behind second place Ty Gibbs.
    • Friday will be the first career visit to the 13-turn road course for the 20-year-old. His only career road course start came last season at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course where he and Derek Smith guided the No. 46 to an 11th-place finish.

    • Moffitt on Mid-Ohio: “I don’t really have any experience on road courses other than Daytona last year, so I’m looking forward to gaining experience in that aspect of racing this weekend. Mid-Ohio is a completely new track for me as I’ve never even seen the place before, but we’ve had a lot of speed lately in our No. 46 Ford Fusion and we are hoping that carries over into this race.”
  • DGR ARCA Menards Series Race Recap: Charlotte Motor Speedway

DGR ARCA Menards Series Race Recap: Charlotte Motor Speedway

    Saturday, May 29
Track: Charlotte Motor Speedway, 1.5-mile quad oval
    Race: 6 of 20
Event: General Tire 150 (100 laps, 150 miles)

Thad Moffitt, No. 46 CleanPacs/Aqua ChemPacs Ford Fusion

    Start: 3rd
    Finish: 7th

    • Moffitt earned his best starting position of the season via his practice speed and lined up third for the General Tire 150.
    • On lap 15, the 15 car got loose underneath Moffitt and he had to save the car and fall back in line in fifth. As he got back into a rhythm and continued to gain speed, he got a run to the inside lane for fourth position on lap 29 and lost the air off the nose causing him to spin out.
    • The No. 43 Fusion lost one lap to the leaders as a result of the spin and came down pit road to change tires and add fuel. After restarting 16th, the Ford driver gained two positions to 14th by lap 50 when the yellow flag waved for the scheduled competition break. Derek Smith made the call to stay out and take the wave around to get back on the lead lap and restart 13th.
    • When caution flag waved on lap 60, Moffitt was in the 10th position and opted to pit for fresh tires and fuel. He restarted 11th and had advanced up to seventh when the caution came out again with nine laps remaining.
    • The North Carolina native restarted in fourth for a green-white-checkered finish, but the outside lane struggled with wheel spin and got a bad launch causing him to fall to ninth on the opening lap. He was able to get back to seventh at the checkered flag.
    • The seventh-place result marks Moffitt’s fifth top-10 finish of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season.

Next event: Dawn 150 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio on June 4 at 6 p.m. ET.

  • Greg Van Alst focused on more than one mission in Charlotte ARCA debut

Greg Van Alst focused on more than one mission in Charlotte ARCA debut

CONCORD, N.C.: On the heels of his first career top-10 finish in ARCA Menards Series competition earlier this month at Kansas Speedway, Greg Van Alst and his family-owned team invade Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway with plenty of goals for Saturday night’s General Tire 150.

The 2019 ARCA CRA champion is poised to continue his season turnaround after likely top-five finishes in his open two races at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway were unraveled because of circumstances beyond his control.

In the series’ most recent trip to Kansas, Van Alst avoided disaster at the start when reigning series champion Bret Holmes lost control of his race car in front of Van Alst forcing him to take evasive action to miss the spinning No. 23 Chevrolet.

Luckily for the Anderson, Ind. native, the first lap moment proved to be his biggest worry of the day after he guided his No. 35 CB Fabricating Chevrolet to a career-best seventh place after starting eighth.

The next day, he also won the Reese’s Sweet Move of the Race with his impressive skills avoiding Holmes.

With momentum from Kansas, Van Alst enters Charlotte much like Kansas a track that he doesn’t have much experience at. Luckily for the small business owner, he and his Jim Long-led team participated in an open-test session at the 1.5-mile speedway nearly two weeks ago where he negotiated the 11th quickest time overall after turning 29 laps.

“I’m so thankful we tested Charlotte,” said Van Alst. “You know having the opportunity to test at a race track before you go back to the race will help us tremendously. We have a good setup for where we want to be when we unload. Then, it will just be some fine-tuning during practice on Saturday and hoping for the best when that green flag drops.”

Eyeing back-to-back top-10 finishes in ARCA competition, the avid racer believes it will be a race were keeping up with the race track will determine who can have a chance to capture the checkered flag.

“I think a lot of Saturday night is going to come down to handling and who can get over the bumps good,” added Van Alst. “We continued to get better with the grip and maneuverability of our No. 35 CB Fabricating Chevrolet throughout the test, but unfortunately we ran out of time.

“You need to get over those bumps so you can have the grip and speed you need to carry down the straightaways. Charlotte is a remarkably busy track when it comes to lights and its surroundings, so even I think concentration will be a factor.

“It’s going to be a challenging night, but a lot of fun too.”

CB Fabricating, a longtime partner with Greg Van Alst Motorsports has boosted its commitment to the team and will continue its role as the primary marketing partner of Van Alst’s No. 35 Chevrolet.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

Their 26,000 square foot facility allows them to service the needs of many different industries. Everything from the Automotive, agricultural, aquatic, medical, transportation, electrical enclosures, and much more.

Not only is Van Alst racing for a top-10 finish on Saturday night, but awareness too.

CB Fabricating president Chris Barkdull was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and will utilize the ARCA event through the in-car camera to bring attentiveness and awareness to the disease as Barkdull begins treatment soon.

“We would not be racing at Charlotte – heck any of these ARCA races this season without Chris,” added Van Alst. “He’s just not an investor or a partner in this thing – he’s family. When he was diagnosed he was determined to do his part to educate the public and that is exactly what he is going to do.”

In addition to CB Fabricating, Top Choice Fence, Norton Transport, KRJ Race Products and Lintz Creative will serve as associate marketing partners for Van Alst’s seventh career ARCA start.

Additional specifics on Greg Van Alst Motorsports’ 2021 ARCA Menards Series program are forthcoming, including a detailed series schedule.

  • Max Gutiérrez to make ARCA Menards Series debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Max Gutiérrez to make ARCA Menards Series debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Rette Jones Racing (RJR) development driver Max Gutiérrez will make his ARCA Menards Series (AMS) debut in Saturday night’s General Tire 150 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Gutiérrez, a rookie competitor in the developmental ARCA Menards Series East (AMSE) heads to Charlotte on the heels of a top-five finish in his most recent race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway on May 14.

Currently, Gutiérrez’s participation in the premier ARCA division is a one-race deal, but both sides will explore opportunities to enhance Gutiérrez’s stock car resume as the 2021 season continues.

“I am very thankful for this opportunity to make my ARCA Menards Series debut this weekend at Charlotte,” said Gutiérrez who won the ARCA East season-opener at New Smyrna in February.

“Any track time is critical to me right now and as I look to move forward in my racing career – competing at these bigger tracks will certainly help me grow and become a better driver.”

Earlier this month, Gutiérrez participated in an open test session at the 1.5-mile speedway where he maneuvered the sixth quickest time overall impressing many in the garage and even himself.

“The test certainly went better than I expected but I credit the Rette Jones Racing team for bringing me a great race car,” added Gutiérrez. “Mark (Rette, crew chief | co-owner) made me feel extremely comfortable behind the wheel of our No. 30 TOUGHBUILT | TekNekk | TELMEX | TELCEL Ford Fusion and because of that we were able to lay down some pretty quick laps.

“Getting another opportunity to practice on Saturday before the race will be important for us to get our car dialed in for the race. I know I still have a lot to learn about racing on a mile-and-a-half track, but I believe Charlotte will be a great opportunity for me to consume more knowledge with the hope of bringing the Rette Jones Racing team home with a top-10 finish.”

Gutiérrez’s hood will honor Feliciano Isidoro and Maria Georgina Sabates at Charlotte, close friends of Gutiérrez and his family.

Last year during the coronavirus pandemic, they reached a significant milestone of their 100th birthdays, just months apart.

This weekend the two would have celebrated their 77th anniversary together. During their marriage, they raised seven children including former NASCAR Cup Series team owner Felix Sabates alongside brothers Art, Jose and sister Manty who will attend Saturday night’s ARCA race to support Gutiérrez and RJR.

Feliciano Isidoro and Maria Georgina Sabates were passionate about their love of Motorsports, especially NASCAR and building friendships with former Cup drivers Kyle Petty and Jamie McMurray along the way.

“I cannot thank TOUGHBUILT. TekNekk and TELCEL enough for giving up their space on the hood to allow us to recognize two special individuals,” added Gutiérrez. “The Sabates family has done so much for the sport of NASCAR for many decades, and this is an opportunity to honor the family for not only what they have done for me – but for everyone involved in the sport.”

Rette says he was impressed with the speed from his young driver earlier this month and
believes he can back it up at the team’s hometown track.

“We are excited about having Max drive for us at Charlotte this weekend,” added Rette. “He certainly impressed a lot of people, myself included with his quick adaption to Charlotte and continuing to post competitive and consistent laps from the start of the test to the end of it.
“This race will be a huge learning curve for Max, but he is up for the challenge and has already shown that he can adapt to the speeds. Hopefully, we can have a clean and fun race and bring home a strong finish that can carry us on to the next one.”

In addition to TOUGHBUILT. TekNekk and Jimmy Morales Escuderia TELMEX | TELCEL, BolsaDX.mx, Distributed Ledger Inc. (DLI), GoGig, Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement and JRi Shocks join the Mooresville, N.C.-based team as partners this weekend.

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

Jason Kitzmiller optimistic ahead of Charlotte ARCA debut

CONCORD, N.C.: Set for his third ARCA Menards Series start of the 2021 season, CR7 Motorsports’ Jason Kitzmiller invades Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway for Saturday night’s General Tire 150 hopeful to deliver his fourth career top-10 finish.

Kitzmiller will eye his 10th career ARCA start determined to improve on his respectable 15th place showing in his most recent race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway last month.

Kitzmiller was headed towards back-to-back top-10 finishes at the legendary 2.66-mile superspeedway, but he was shuffled in the final laps of the event and nearly wrecked by another competitor before recovering control of his No. 97 A.L.L. Construction Inc. Chevrolet SS and producing his eighth straight top-15 ARCA finish.

“Talladega was a little hard to swallow because everyone on the CR7 Motorsports team definitely brought me a fast race car. Unfortunately, there was a lot of jockeying for position there in the closing laps and some impatience by others that nearly sent us home destroyed.

“I had to make that decision on either get wrecked and hope we finish inside the top-10 or back out of the draft and recover and keep our superspeedway car intact for Daytona next year. I think we made the right decision – but I’m motivated to go to Charlotte and finish what we started at Talladega.”

Charlotte’s unique 1.5-mile track will be a new track for Kitzmiller and to prepare him for his first intermediate track of the year, Kitzmiller and his Todd Myers-led team participated in an open test at the facility earlier this year where Kitzmiller maneuvered the 14th quickest lap overall.

“Between the weather, I got to make 31 laps around Charlotte and those were some pretty important laps,” added Kitzmiller. “I like Charlotte, it’s extremely fast and bumpy at the same time. Momentum and concentration is definitely key as well as handling.

“I definitely understood how much our car changed with the drop not only in track conditions but ambient temperatures. All of that is good notes for the race this weekend. Hopefully, we have a good practice on Saturday afternoon and find us in a prime spot for our first top-10 of the year.”

Not competing for points and racing for wins, the team’s often laid-back approach has seemed to work for the Statesville, N.C.-based organization, but once the headsets go on and Kitzmiller straps behind the wheel of his race car, business becomes the priority.

“We don’t necessarily have a strategy at this point, we’ll just see how the race unfolds,”
added Kitzmiller. “It just depends on how those opening laps unfold. 100 laps will go by quickly at Charlotte, but we need to make sure we stay on the lead lap and keep ourselves in the mix.

We just have to wait and see how it all flows and hope we can drive out of the parking lot knowing our Charlotte debut together was a success.”

Kitzmiller and CR7 Motorsports will run a partial ARCA schedule in 2021 with a firm schedule announced soon.

Kitzmiller will also continue to adorn a decal remembering CR7 Motorsports general manager Mark Huff who passed away last week after a brief illness. Huff was responsible for helping revive the ARCA Menards Series team in 2020.

“I will always Mark for his carrying of people on this CR7 Motorsports team and his enormous work ethic. He did a lot for the team and is irreplaceable. We will race to win in his honor on Saturday night.”

Marketing partnership(s) opportunities are available for the No. 97 A.L.L. Construction Chevrolet and No. 9 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series seasons and beyond.
