ARCA Menards Series Returning To Elko Speedway

Menards 250 Set For Saturday Night, July 10

After a one-year hiatus, the full-bodied stock cars of the ARCA Menards Series return to Elko Speedway on Saturday, July 10 for the Menards 250. The Eau Claire, Wisconsin-based home improvement warehouse chain, which has served as the presenting sponsor and now the entitlement sponsor of the series for the past 13 years, is based just 90 minutes east of Elko, which is located just south of the Twin Cities in central Minnesota.

The ARCA Menards Series, a NASCAR touring division, competes at a wide range of venues, from the 2.66-mile high-banked Talladega Superspeedway where speeds routinely exceed 190 miles per hour, to road courses, one-mile dirt tracks and paved short tracks. Elko Speedway, at 0.375 miles in length, is the shortest track on the series’ 2021 schedule.

“We are thrilled the ARCA Menards Series is returning to Elko Speedway,” said Jeff Abbott, promotions manager for Menards. “We sponsored the race in 2019 and have had several of our vendor partners as sponsors in previous years. We love it because it’s the type of short track racing that has been the hallmark of the ARCA Menards Series since 1953. There’s someone trading paint just about every lap, and we’ve seen some of the most exciting finishes over the years too. It’s a great place to see a great race and we’re looking forward to seeing all of our upper Midwest racing fans back at the track again.”

The Menards 250 will feature a full day of on-track activity starting with one hour of practice for the ARCA Menards Series at 3:30 pm local time, followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 5:30 pm local, local division feature races at 6 pm local, and a 45-minute on-track autograph session at 7:45 pm local. The night’s 250-lap feature event will go green shortly after 9 pm local time.

“The Menards 250 at Elko Speedway has turned into a huge event in the upper Midwest,” said race promoter Bob Sargent, president of Track Enterprises. “Not only do the fans get to see 250 laps of great side-by-side, fender-banging action with the ARCA Menards Series cars they also will see three of the track’s regular divisions with over 300 laps of feature racing for the night.”

Previous ARCA Menards Series winners at Elko include Brennan Poole in 2012, Frank Kimmel in 2013, Grant Enfinger in 2014, Austin Theriault in 2017, Gus Dean in 2018, and Chandler Smith in 2019. Kimmel and Theriault both won en route to respective championships; Enfinger and Smith both won prior to making the leap into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Current series championship contenders Corey Heim, the current points leader, and Ty Gibbs, currently second in the standings, finished fifth and second respectively in 2019.

The Menards 250 will also be the third round of the 2021 Sioux Chief Showdown, a series-within-the-series that allows drivers younger than 18 years of age to compete for a championship. The race will be televised live on MAVTV starting at 10 pm ET/9 pm local.

  • Toledo Speedway To Host Live, National Event Open To Fans

Toledo Speedway To Host Live, National Event Open To Fans

Saturday night’s ARCA Menards Series Herr’s Potato Chips 200 at Toledo Speedway will be a huge step in the return to normalcy for sports fans across northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. It will mark the first time since the pandemic started in March 2020 that a national-level sporting event will take place in northwest Ohio with significantly reduced Covid restrictions. ARCA held four races at the track in 2020, three of which were held with no spectators. The fourth was limited to just 15 percent capacity.

“It has been a long process to get here, but with the climbing vaccination rates in Ohio, Governor Mike DeWine has seen fit to relax restrictions, which Toledo Speedway and our fans appreciate,” said ARCA president Ron Drager. “We wish we were able to open to full capacity, but we still expect a great crowd on hand on Saturday night. We want everyone to come out and enjoy a night at the races, just like we have done for 60 years at Toledo Speedway. We hope to see a lot of excited race fans when we fire the engines for the Herr’s Potato Chips 200 on Saturday night. We’ll certainly be excited to see them back too.”

In 2020, Toledo Speedway hosted the first national-level sporting event in Ohio once the total lockdown ended when the ARCA Menards Series East raced at the half-mile oval last June. That race was held with essential personnel only; no fans were permitted to attend. Ohio’s attendance restrictions officially end on June 2. Fans who attend Saturday night’s race will only need to keep an appropriate social distance in common areas like grandstands and on the concourse. Masks are not mandatory in outdoor areas but are in any indoor areas, such as restrooms and concession stands.

“It was definitely eerie to be at the track and see racers competing in front of empty grandstands,” said ARCA communications manager Charles Krall. “There were some very die-hard fans who came to the front gate and looked over the fence just to catch a glimpse of racecars on the track. It’s a reminder to me what great fans we have, and we’re all looking forward to seeing many of them here on Saturday night.”

Practice for the Herr’s 200 will start Saturday’s on-track action at 4:15 pm, with the track’s Factory Stock division to follow with a 20-lap feature at 5 pm. General Tire Pole Qualifying will set the starting lineup for the Herr’s Potato Chips 200 at 6 pm ET, followed by a 25-lap feature event for the speedway’s Late Model Sportsman division. Pre-race activities for the Herr’s 200 start at 7:30 pm, with the green flag expected shortly after 8 pm ET. Advance discount tickets are available at Toledo-area Menards stores through Friday, May 21 for just $20, a $10 savings. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the front gate on raceday.

The Herr’s Potato Chips 200 will also be televised live on MAVTV and streamed live on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.

Sprecher® Craft Sodas to Sponsor ARCA Menards Series Event at Milwaukee Mile

Sprecher Brewing Company, Track Enterprises, and the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) announced today that Sprecher® Craft Sodas will sponsor the ARCA Menards Series race event at The Milwaukee Mile.

“Sprecher is proud to sponsor this event in Milwaukee, our hometown,” said Sharad Chadha, CEO of Sprecher Brewery. “In fact, Sprecher is Milwaukee’s Original Craft Brewery and the birthplace of Sprecher’s award-winning craft sodas. Sponsoring this great race and bringing national stock car racing back to the Mile with the ARCA Menards Series is one way we can pay tribute to race fans and Sprecher fans in Milwaukee.”

The Sprecher 150 will be a points race for the national ARCA Menards Series, as well as a Sioux Chief Showdown championship event and a points race for the ARCA Menards Series East. Series officials are expecting cars from all three ARCA Menards Series touring divisions to participate.

“We are excited to partner with Sprecher and Track Enterprises to bring the ARCA Menards Series back to the Milwaukee Mile Speedway and southeastern Wisconsin in 2021,” said Jeff Abbott, promotions manager and spokesperson for Menards. “Milwaukee is a core, home state market for Menards, and The Mile is a great, historic racetrack.”

The ARCA Menards Series last competed at the Milwaukee Mile in 2005 through 2007. The series has visited “The Mile” five times, with ten-time series champion Frank Kimmel winning two of the last three races at the historic Milwaukee oval.

“We’ve been working on bringing the ARCA Menards Series back to Milwaukee for several years,” commented Bob Sargent, President of Track Enterprises. “Now, with the support of Sprecher Craft Soda, we are looking forward to hosting all of the great race fans in Wisconsin as the ARCA cars bring major league stock car racing back to the historic Milwaukee Mile.”

Adam Lemke upbeat ahead of ARCA Menards Series debut with Rette Jones Racing

TOLEDO, Oh: On the heels of their top-five finish in this past Friday afternoon’s ARCA Menards Series East (AMSE) race at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, Rette Jones Racing rides the momentum with new driver Adam Lemke for this weekend’s premier ARCA Menards Series race at Toledo Speedway.

The hometown track of the ARCA Menards Series may be new to Lemke, a native of Hollister, Calif., but his Mark Rette-led team thankfully has plenty of experience at the historic half-mile oval giving the 18-year-old confidence ahead of Saturday night’s race.

“I’m looking forward to this weekend with Rette Jones Racing,” said Lemke. “This is a great opportunity for myself and our marketing partners and I cannot wait to get to Toledo and get some laps with practice and then focus on qualifying and the race.”

Lemke has been winning championships for more than half his 18 years, starting in Quarter Midgets at age eight and rising through the Mini Cup ranks. In 2017, he graduated to the USAC Western Midget Series and finished second in overall points, and clinched the Rookie of the Year award.

In 2018, he won both the pavement and overall championships in the USAC Western Midget Series, as well as Rookie of the Year honors in the RPM Pro Late Model Series at Madera (Calif.) Speedway.

He graduated to the immensely popular and competitive CARS Tour where he joined JR Motorsports and competed in nine of the 11 CARS Late Model Stock events and finished 11th in the championship standings.

Most of Lemke’s racing efforts for 2020 were sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but he did compete in a few CARS Tour races, as well as competed for Hawk McCall Motorsports in the NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Weekly Series.

Having a diverse background in short-track racing is likely to play into Lemke’s hands this weekend, but the teenager also knows that he has a lot to learn about the heavier “stock cars” that the ARCA Menards Series requires.

Still, Lemke has spent a lot of time digesting and preparing for Saturday night’s Herr’s Potato Chips 200, and hope his short-track mentality will be a benefit in his ARCA debut.

“I’ve been so fortunate and blessed to experience and win a lot in such a short amount of time,” added Lemke. “No doubt moving to the ARCA Menards Series and these heavier cars will be challenging, but that’s where I will lean on my team for guidance and direction.

“Our goal is a top-five finish at Toledo. And based on the speed the team has shown this year, I think we can not only accomplish that but contend for the win too.”

JRi Shocks will serve as the primary partner for the fifth ARCA Menards Series race of 2021.

In addition, Rette Jones Racing also welcomes Ford Performance, Goodridge Fluid Transfer Systems, Jones Group Demolition and Abatement, Mahle, Off-Axis Paint and Slick Products as associate marketing partners on the team’s No. 30 Ford Fusion.

“We are all looking forward to Toledo,” offered co-owner and crew chief Rette. “Adam has been extremely focused on preparing for his ARCA Menards Series debut. He has been asking a lot of questions, reviewing as much data as he can, and so on. Overall, we have a great notebook for Toledo.

“The team is feeling great right now after our Dover performance with Max (Gutiérrez) and we hope we are able to have that same type of performance on Saturday night with Adam.”

RJR is co-owned by Canadian entrepreneur and former race car driver Terry Jones.

Additional details on Lemke’s 2021 program are forthcoming.
