  • Clean Harbors and Aqua ChemPacs Partner with Thad Moffitt for His 2021 ARCA Menards Series Season

Clean Harbors and Aqua ChemPacs Partner with Thad Moffitt for His 2021 ARCA Menards Series Season

Multi-Race Partnership with Moffitt and DGR Beginning in Daytona

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 3, 2021)—David Gilliland Racing (DGR) announced today that Clean Harbors and the CleanPacs brand by Aqua ChemPacs will be the primary partners of Thad Moffitt’s No. 46 Ford Fusion in the ARCA Menards Series in 2021. The pair will team-up for the season opener at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on February 13 with Clean Harbors adorning the hood and CleanPacs on the quarter panels of the No. 46 Ford Fusion.

Moffitt, the 20-year-old grandson of NASCAR legend Richard Petty, is scheduled to compete in at least 11 ARCA Menards Series races in his second season with DGR. He earned his best career ARCA finish of fourth-place at Memphis (Tenn.) International Raceway in September of 2020 with CleanPacs as the primary partner. In 13 starts last season, he earned three top-five and eight top-10 finishes.

Clean Harbors, North America’s leading provider of environmental and industrial services, is no stranger to Moffitt’s team, having partnered with the No. 46 team since his debut in 2017 through its brand of recycled oil, Performance Plus. Moffitt and his Hall of Fame grandfather both endorse Performance Plus Oil and use it at Petty’s Garage.

Founded in 1980 with hundreds of locations across the country, Clean Harbors is the industry leader in COVID-19 decontamination and hazardous waste disposal. NASCAR partnered with Clean Harbors in May to decontaminate Darlington (S.C.) Raceway and help racing become the first major sport to return following the COVID-19 pandemic. The company decontaminated each track on the NASCAR schedule following the comeback – ensuring personnel, competitors, media and fans were safe each week. Following the success of the 2020 season, Clean Harbors will once again be decontaminating heavy touch points at Daytona and all NASCAR tracks in 2021 as needed.

CleanPacs, an Aqua ChemPacs brand, manufactures dissolvable concentrated liquid cleaning products. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, CleanPacs is proud to return as primary sponsor of the No. 46 Ford Fusion for seven races in 2021 – Daytona International Speedway, Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Iowa Speedway and Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. In addition, CleanPacs will serve as an associate partner for all remaining races.

“Clean Harbors is a longtime partner of the Petty family, and I am excited to carry the banner as the driver of the No. 46 Ford Fusion in 2021,” Moffitt said. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great organization, and have them represented at the Daytona International Speedway and future events.”

Moffitt’s first ARCA Menards Series race of the season will be the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire Saturday, Feb. 13 at Daytona International Speedway. The race will be televised live on FS1 at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Gibbs, the 18-year-old grandson of NASCAR championship-winning team owner Joe Gibbs and a native from Charlotte, North Carolina, will be assuming a full-time driving role in the No. 18 Toyota Camry for JGR as he will contend for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series championship.

Throughout the 2020 season, Gibbs recorded a season-high six ARCA Menards Series victories and one ARCA Menards Series East victory. In 16 of 20 ARCA Menards Series starts, Gibbs also recorded five poles, 12 top-five results, 14 top-10 results, 969 laps led and an average result of 4.4 as he contributed to the first ARCA Menards Series Owner’s Championship for Joe Gibbs Racing.

“We want to build on the success that our team had last season,” Mark McFarland, crew chief of JGR’s ARCA program, said. “Ty works extremely hard to prepare each week, and it’s exciting to have him behind the wheel for every race and the opportunity to go after our goal of winning that championship.

Along with his ARCA schedule, Gibbs will make his debut within NASCAR’s top three national touring series in 2021 as he will pilot the No. 54 Toyota Supra in the Xfinity Series event at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course on Saturday, February 20. Gibbs will serve as one of multiple competitors driving the No. 54 car throughout the 2020 Xfinity season, with Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. also slated to compete in at least one event while Chris Gayle will serve as the crew chief of the No. 54 team. “I’m pumped to run the full season in the ARCA Menards Series,” Ty Gibbs said. “[Crew Chief] Mark [McFarland] has put together an amazing team that gives me a chance to be successful every week. I’m also really excited to have the opportunity to work with [crew chief] Chris Gayle to make my debut in the Xfinity Series. I can’t imagine a better situation for me to learn and be able to compare notes, not only with my series teammates like Brandon [Jones], Harrison [Burton] and Daniel [Hemric], but also veterans like Kyle, Denny and Martin who I will share the car with.”

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season,” Chris Gayle added. “Ty has already shown a great deal of talent with each step he has taken in his career and I think the opportunity to also learn from his veteran teammates will be a huge benefit to his development.”

Additional announcements regarding the full Xfinity Series schedule for Gibbs and Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 54 Toyota team will be announced at a later date.

  • ALEX SEDGWICK TO RETURN BACK TO THE UNITED KINGDOM AFTER SUCCESSFUL ARCA TEST IN DAYTONA

ALEX SEDGWICK TO RETURN BACK TO THE UNITED KINGDOM AFTER SUCCESSFUL ARCA TEST IN DAYTONA

Alex Sedgwick returned to the United States this past week after an exciting change of fate for the British driver, having a sponsor come forward just in time to support his testing efforts at the Daytona International Speedway. Greg Thomas of NBA 2K 21 notified Alex’s manager Ryan Johnston just in the nick of time that they would support Alex’s testing efforts in Daytona this past Friday and Saturday. Alex went into “GO” mode and booked his flight, and since there was a complete lockdown in the U.K., Alex had to complete his physical and drug testing on Thursday, the day before the test began. “Everything came together rather quickly, and miraculously, it all worked!” said Alex.

In only his second proper oval experience, Alex climbed up the speed charts on Friday by mid-afternoon to be 3rd fastest in single-car runs and settling to 5th before the larger drafting packs started to go out. “Making my first runs on the 2.5-mile superspeedway was an incredible feeling. I am used to my body leaning to the side while cornering; however, at this track, you sink in your seat because of the 31-degree banking in the corners,” said Alex.

Coming back to Daytona to drive was a dream come true for Alex, who watched as a guest of NASCAR during the Daytona 500 held last season. “Watching the Daytona 500 with my father, we both agreed that one day I would come back to race at the superspeedway, only I did not think it would be this soon,” said Alex. “I appreciate NBA 2K 21 and Greg Thomas tremendously, without their support, none of this would have happened.”

Greg Thomas, President and Co-Founder of Visual Concepts, the creator of NBA 2K 21 said, “We are pleased with Alex’s efforts during his test and we are looking forward to his rise in NASCAR.” Ryan Johnston of InterPhase Entertainment who manages Alex said, “Without NBA 2K 21 coming forward, Alex would have missed this test and would not have the opportunity to come back to compete on February 13, 2021 in the season opener. We are in talks with top NASCAR Xfinity Series teams to place Alex in the road course races this year, as he has an enormous amount of experience racing throughout Europe and as far as Dubai.”

Alex is flying back to London from Miami this evening, hoping to come back as soon as he can, to compete in as many races in the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2021.

“We’re thrilled to have the Reese’s brand join our partnership program,” commented Mark Gundrum VP Business Development and Corporate Partnerships. “We welcome the Reese’s brand to our family of sponsors with open arms.”

  • Young’s Motorsports adds ARCA Menards Series to development platform in 2021

Young’s Motorsports adds ARCA Menards Series to development platform in 2021

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.: Young’s Motorsports announced today that they have expanded their organization to now include the ARCA Menards Series.

Acquiring equipment during the offseason will allow the Mooresville, N.C.-based team to offer an additional layer of development to their existing NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) platform.

Young’s Motorsports will make its debut in ARCA Menards Series competition by participating in this weekend’s series’ open-test session at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

“This is an exciting new chapter that we’re proud of,” said Young’s Motorsports principal Tyler Young.

“As we continue to crave new ways of offering more seat time to our drivers, the addition of an ARCA fleet to our Young’s Motorsports stable allows us to enter a new territory and grow with the number one goal of winning.”

As part of their growth, Young’s Motorsports plans to run a limited ARCA schedule in 2021 with a priority on the ARCA Menards Series national division with a focus on the larger track venues.

While the team has an open slot for the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire race on Feb. 13, 2021, Young’s Motorsports will take the green flag in ARCA competition this weekend with two drivers.

Kris Wright who will contend for Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series aboard the flagship No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado will pilot the No. 02 Chevrolet SS on Friday and Saturday.

Wright, a road-racing expert competed in the ARCA Menards Series last year on a limited basis earning three top-10s in six starts throughout the 20-race schedule. He ended the season on a high-note earning a career-best seventh-place finish at Kansas Speedway.

“I’m really excited to get back into the car, especially at Daytona,” said Wright. “We’re going to try a few driver comfort things for the test which is going to help us in February with the truck. I cannot wait to get out there on the track with the Young’s Motorsports crew.”

Joining the 26-year-old Wright is Toni Breidinger who returns to the ARCA Menards Series scene for the first time since 2018.

A 19-time USAC winner, Breidinger shifted her attention from dirt to asphalt and most recently finished fourth in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series in 2020 with DLP Motorsports.

Breidinger, a native of Hillsborough, Calif. made three ARCA starts in 2018 earning a career-best 10th place finish in her series’ debut at Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway.

“I’m excited to be heading to Daytona to join Young’s Motorsports this week to test for ARCA,” said Breidinger. “Driving at Daytona has always been a dream of mine and I can’t thank Tyler (Young) and the entire Young’s Motorsports team for the opportunity.”

Young says Young’s Motorsports a mainstay team in the NCWTS since 2012 would not be able to participate in the ARCA Menards Series without the evolving rule changes and cost-saving measures that NASCAR has put into place.

“When NASCAR purchased ARCA a couple of years ago, it was in our pipeline to compete in ARCA,” added Young. “We just had to make sure the timing was right. I feel that timing is upon us and look forward to seeing what the 2021 season delivers.”

In addition to ARCA, Young’s Motorsports will also field multiple entries in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season. Currently, Wright joins Spencer Boyd who returns to Young’s Motorsports for a third season as driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado.

To kick off the 2021 ARCA season, DiSavino continues his relationship with Win-Tron Racing and crew chief Jamie Jones, but during the offseason – Win-Tron Racing was absorbed under the AM Racing banner, which offers the opportunity for both organizations to expand their horizons.

Still housed at their Statesville, N.C. facility, AM Racing also fields a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team – a path that DiSavino would eventually like to follow.

But before tackling the aspirations of becoming a NASCAR driver, the Chesterfield, Va. native is focused on Daytona.

“It’s a head down, fin-up type of weekend,” added DiSavino. “I think the time will go by fast, but we have a lot to accomplish. I’m sure it will take a couple of laps to get comfortable – but from there it’s about making our car as fast as we can. Some changes will work, some changes won’t – but that’s all a part of the experience.”

Throughout the two-day session, DiSavino will also be able to lean on driver coach and mentor Austin Theriault, a former Daytona ARCA winner.

“To have Austin be an ear this weekend is huge for my development,” DiSavino said. “Austin has been there through the trials and tribulations and having the opportunity to dissect the track time with him will only help me improve between the test and the race.”
Preparing to make his sixth career ARCA Menards Series start next month in the season-opening Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire, DiSavino knows he’ll have the equipment to contend for the victory.

“We’re testing this weekend to put us in a position to win the race next month,” sounded DiSavino. “Kevin (Cywinski, team owner) and Jamie (Jones, crew chief) have a knack for putting together extremely fast superspeedway cars, and I don’t expect 2021 to be any different.

“I know a lot of the race can boil down to luck, but hopefully we can just be in the right place at the right time and start the year with a strong finish and a lot of momentum.”

Front Runner Boats and Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning will support DiSavino in 2021.

Additional details on DiSavino’s 2021 program is forthcoming.

    About Front Runner Boats:

Front Runner as defined by Meriam Webster is “a contestant who runs best in the lead.” Indeed, this defines the vision of Front Runner Boats’ founders, two fishing buddies and business partners who saw an opportunity to build the boats they enjoyed, but with their own ideas on how to build them better!

There are plenty of big, beautiful, boats on the market, but none that came up to the standards Mark and Phil had set for themselves. Standards that today’s boat builders have never seen. Standards that only people that take the sport of blue water fishing seriously will appreciate.

If you’ve always dreamed of having everything you wanted in a boat, it’s time for Front Runner Boats.

Parker Retzlaff embraces Daytona ARCA test opportunity

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.: Teenage standout Parker Retzlaff will embark on the next opportunity in his young Motorsports career by taking to the high banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway during this weekend’s preseason ARCA Menards Series testing.

While Retzlaff, 17, is not eligible to compete in next month’s General Tire 200 at the “World Center of Racing”, the opportunity to tackle the 2.5-mile superspeedway for Fast Track Racing as part of the series’ Road to Daytona program, the teenager is prepared to embrace the experience with a goal of competing in the annual series’ opener in the future.

“I cannot tell you how excited I am for this weekend,” said Retzlaff.

“For any race car driver, the chance to turn laps at Daytona is not only very humbling but a dream come true. I cannot thank ARCA, Andy Hillenburg and Fast Track Racing enough for this unbelievable opportunity.”

Sharing the No. 10 Fast Track Racing Chevrolet with four other drivers will certainly limit his track time at Daytona this weekend, but that doesn’t bother the young driver.

“The opportunity to be coached by a respected owner and former ARCA champion driver Andy Hillenburg – and the chance to converse with the other drivers is all apart of the experience this weekend,” added Retzlaff.

“Sure, the track time is important, but it’s striving to be a better driver and utilizing the resources around me to help. Hopefully, the test will be successful and I can use it as a stepping stone to come back in the future and prepare for the actual race.”

The two-day ARCA Menards Series preseason test officially kicks off the 2021 season and Retzlaff is excited about what’s ahead and intends on announcing his plans within the next few weeks.

“I believe that 2021 is shaping up to be a good year,” sounded Retzlaff. “I learned a lot last year, despite the pandemic. I will continue to grow as a driver, but I think the goals set forth this season are obtainable.

“A lot of people are investing time, effort and financially for me and I have to be sure to go out there and make sure I not only do my job but do it well and continue to take the steps up the racing ladder.”
