Chad Bryant Racing adds Toledo Speedway doubleheader to Derek Griffith’s ARCA schedule

TOLEDO, Oh: Chad Bryant Racing hadn’t planned to compete in this weekend’s ARCA Menards Series doubleheader at Toledo Speedway, but thanks to hard work from team owner Chad Bryant and rookie Derek Griffith, the team will show up at the northern Ohio racetrack and hope for the opportunity to compete for two wins on the same weekend.

Griffith, an accomplished Late Model racer in the northeast returns to short track form this weekend after a recent stint of larger track oval racing which saw the rising phenom participate at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Kentucky Speedway and most recently last Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kansas Speedway.

While huge strides were made from Griffith, he is looking forward to the opportunity to return back to his forte and the chance to return the Mooresville, N.C.-based team back to Victory Lane.

“I am very excited to hit Toledo Speedway this weekend,” said Griffith. “The track looks like a fast and fun place to race and it is right up my alley for track size as well, so hopefully good things are in store for our team this weekend.”

Of course, it was a short track in February at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway, where Griffith and CBR took the series’ by storm when Griffith in his series’ debut won the pole, led a dominating 144 of 175 laps – but was penalized late in the race for a pit road infraction. Still, the Hudson, N.H. native recovered to finish second.
This weekend in sorts, Griffith is hoping to finish what he started at New Smyrna and add another strong Toledo Speedway result to Chad Bryant Racing’s track record at the historic half-mile ARCA owned track.

“It has been an amazing experience so far with Chad Bryant Racing,” added Griffith. “Really hoping we can add even more races to our schedule this season – but as far as Toledo goes, the short tracks are something I prefer. With limited practice, I am struggling a little bit at the larger tracks, so the chance to get back to some normalcy is the perfect opportunity for our No. 22 Chad Bryant Racing team to make some noise.

“We have two chances to get into Victory Lane this weekend too. So, that is big. Can’t wait to get to Toledo and just get things started.”

Although Griffith realizes he will have tough competition at Toledo this weekend from the likes of fellow teams Venturini Motorsports, DGR-Crosley and Bret Holmes Racing, the 23-year-old believes his team can strut its stuff this weekend and he can make up for his inexperience in 400 laps of competition.

“I think we are all ready for a win,” Griffith expressed. “It would mean the world to cement my name down as a winner in the ARCA Menards Series and hopefully looked at as a good competitor from the other series’ drivers and teams.

“Chad (Bryant) and Paul (Andrews, crew chief) know what it takes to be successful at Toledo Speedway and I’m just hoping that I can live up to our expectations this weekend and it will give us some momentum for the future.”

This weekend marks the fifth and sixth events with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No. 22 Ford Fusion.

Headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, Original Gourmet™ has been innovating in the sweets and snack industry since 1994. Their story started with a recipe and a vision.

Their curiosity for making special blends of flavors and colors of candy became a passion for providing people with bold tasting lollipops.

Griffith’s car will be covered in a variety of the company’s 26 lollipops flavors.

Original Gourmet’s lollipops are the largest pops sold with a bright taste and bright colors – standing out from all the rest. Weighing in at 1.1 oz., these lollipops are gluten and peanut free delights that have a plastic stick and will not get soggy like all the other lollipops do.

Team owner Chad Bryant is looking forward to having Griffith back on normal turf and setting his driver loose on the competition.

“We expect to be fast this weekend and contending for the win,” offered Bryant. “All season long I’ve been super impressed with Derek, but getting the chance to add both Toledo Speedway races to our schedule gives us that extra motivation to go there and not only try to get both wins – but put our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company inside the top-five all race long.

“Looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish at ARCA’s home track.”

  • Bret Holmes achieves first ARCA win at Kansas

Bret Holmes achieves first ARCA win at Kansas

It took 69 starts, but Munford, Alabama native Bret Holmes notched his first career ARCA Menards Series victory Friday night at Kansas Speedway.

Holmes started fourth based on owner’s points but didn’t waste any time getting to the front. He took the lead after the segment two restart on Lap 19 and led the rest of the race for a total of 82 laps. No one proved a match for his No. 23 machine as Holmes easily took the checkered flag by 14.458 seconds over Venturini Motorsports driver Ryan Repko.

“We’ve been working so hard for this,” said Holmes. “I’ve been working my whole life for this. My team did this for me. It’s been a long tough road. I just thank my family and my friends. They believed in me when I didn’t.”

There were three segment breaks that made up the Dawn 150. The first segment break was on Lap 30, the second was on Lap 60 with the race ending on Lap 100.

The first segment was relatively caution free with just one incident slowing the field on Lap 13. Russ Lane in the No. 8 had a scary moment off Turn 2 when the Overland Park, Kansas native got loose and smashed the inside wall hard.

Besides the incident involving Lane, there were a couple of other close moments during the second segment as Drew Dollar and Hailie Deegan almost wrecked in Turns 3 and 4. However, both of them somehow saved their vehicles without incident.

The only driver that could battle for the lead was Corey Heim who was making his first ARCA Menards start of 2020. Helm ran in the second position, just two seconds back from Holmes. But, Holmes’ car was so dominant that he began to check out from the field and his lead continued to climb.

The victory was a long time coming for Holmes, as he would claim the first checkered flag of his ARCA career.

Holmes led 82 laps with Riley Herbst being the only other driver to lead laps with 18. There were three cautions for 10 laps. Two of those were for stage breaks and the other for the Russ Lane incident.

With the victory, Holmes has decreased Michael Self’s points lead down to nine.

Robby Lyons returns to Diversified Motorsports Enterprises at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Officials from Diversified Motorsports Enterprises (DME) confirmed today that the team has added this weekend’s doubleheader at Kansas Speedway to their 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series schedule.

On the heels of the team’s most recent race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last month, 31-year-old Robby Lyons will return to drive the team’s No. 97 Chevrolet Silverado in Friday night’s Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 200 and Saturday afternoon’s e.p.t. 200.

Team owner Logan Puckett reiterated that NASCAR Xfinity Series rookie Jesse Little remains with the organization but is welcoming Lyons and partner Sunwest Construction for the ninth and 10th races of the season.

“Diversified Motorsports Enterprises is excited to have Robby Lyons back behind the wheel this weekend at Kansas,” offered Puckett. “I reiterate that our team is focused on growing and that includes adding additional races to our schedule even with a different driver.

“Robby did a great job at Pocono as has Jesse (Little) to kick off the 2020 season with our partner Teletrac Navman. Because of the coronavirus pandemic and the protocols in place with NASCAR, our initial 2020 schedule has shifted. We’re working hard with all of our partners on their agendas and we will release a revised schedule soon.”

As for Lyons, Puckett says he was impressed with his efforts at Pocono and looks forward to a double dose of Truck Series racing this weekend at Kansas.

“Robby has done a great job under the Diversified Motorsports Enterprises banner and look forward to seeing the job he can do at Kansas. I know that the lack of practice and even qualifying can be a determent to some of the teams, but we take the lack of track time in stride and just look forward to a positive weekend of racing with Robby, Bruce, the DME team and partners too.”

Under the leadership of Bruce Cook, Lyons, a native of Seminole, Fla. will make his second Kansas Speedway Truck start. In 13 prior NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series starts, Lyons has a career-best finish of 12th in his series debut at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway in 2017.

He made his Kansas Truck debut in 2018 finishing 26th in an entry fielded by Premium Motorsports.

In addition to Trucks, Lyons has also run four NASCAR Xfinity Series races this season for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller including his most recent race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway where he earned a respectable 19th-place finish.

  • Ryan Huff to pay tribute to Shawn Balluzzo at Kansas Speedway

Ryan Huff to pay tribute to Shawn Balluzzo at Kansas Speedway

“Huff to also make NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series debut at Kansas”

KANSAS CITY, Kan: After sitting out the most recent ARCA Menards Series race at Iowa Speedway, rookie Ryan Huff returns to the scene this weekend with a special paint scheme for Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kansas Speedway.

Huff’s No. 10 Fast Track Racing Ford Fusion will pay tribute to racer Shawn Balluzzo who died during the second of two Modified Division races on Jul. 11 at Langley (Va.) Speedway.

    Balluzzo was 64.

According to the Virginian-Pilot, Balluzzo was the winningest driver in the history of the track.

Among his accolades on the track included winning 16 of 17 division races at Langley in 2019. He also had 11 track championships and a portrayed a driving style that made him one of the most respected competitors in short track racing.

Like many, Balluzzo was a mentor to many, including Huff. An upcoming racer from Virginia, Huff, 19, spent plenty of time with Balluzzo who often offered crucial advice for Huff as he continues to climb through the ranks of Motorsports.

Huff will make his Kansas Speedway debut in the Dawn 150 but is racing in Balluzzo’s honor.

“Shawn Balluzzo meant a lot to me,” said Huff. “He always had time for me or any young driver for that matter. I respected his advice and he taught me just as much on the track as he did off the track.

“I decided not to go to Iowa Speedway last weekend so I could go to Langley and join others and pay our respects to him. He was the definition of a true racer and I hope I can go to Kansas this weekend and not only make him proud, but my team too.”

In his most recent intermediate race, Huff earned his second career top-10 finish with a career-best eighth place effort.

Bringing the same No. 10 Shawn Balluzzo Tribute Ford Fusion that he raced at Kentucky Speedway earlier this month, Huff is optimistic he can contend for another solid finish during his rookie campaign.

“I’m always excited to get to the track and do well,” added Huff. “Kansas is another new place for me, so I plan to be respectful but being told that there is a lot of similarities between Kentucky and Kansas will hopefully be a benefit for me.

“I feel like we had a car capable of running inside the top-10 at Kentucky and we did just that. I believe it’s going to be a stronger field at Kansas, but we’ll run our race and hope when the checkered flag waves – we’ll be in a good spot to be satisfied with the finish.”

It is going to be a busy weekend for Huff.

In addition to running the ARCA Menards Series race with Fast Track Racing, the Williamsburg, Va. native will also make his NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series debut on Saturday night in the Kansas 200.

Huff will drive the No. 33 Chevrolet for Reaume Bros. Racing.

“I’m very thankful and humbled to have the opportunity to make my NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series debut this weekend at Kansas,” added Huff. “This is a big leap for me, but I feel like I’ve surrounded myself with good people who support this next step as we try to eye our focus on 2021.”

As for his goal on Saturday night, Huff’s mission is simple.

“Finish the race,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if we are on the lead lap or five laps down. This weekend is about getting experience and completing as many laps as I possible can. If we can accomplish our goal on Saturday, it is going to give us the motivation to get ready for the next Truck Series race.”

HB Hankins, Land & Coates and Southeastern Services will serve as associate marketing partners for both races this weekend.

Despite missing Iowa, Huff remains sixth in the ARCA championship standings.

  • Derek Griffith and Chad Bryant Racing upbeat for Kansas ARCA challenge

Derek Griffith and Chad Bryant Racing upbeat for Kansas ARCA challenge

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Set for their fourth ARCA Menards Series race of the season together, Chad Bryant Racing (CBR) and rookie driver Derek Griffith trek west hunting for a top-five finish in Friday night’s Dawn 150 at Kanas Speedway.

The likable Griffith returns to the scene on the heels of a career-best seventh-place finish two weeks ago at Kentucky Speedway in the General Tire 150. And while his first intermediate debut was quite the learning experience, the Hudson, N.H. native is eager to pick up right where he left off from Kentucky.

“I am super excited to hit another mile and a half-track with some experience behind me,” said Griffith. “I’m hoping with some of the seat time I’ve had, we can roll out and be good off the start and I can get racing!”

At Kentucky and because of COVID-19 protocol, Griffith had limited practice aboard his No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion before throwing the 23-year-old into a hungry pack of wolves – most whom had prior experience on bigger tracks.

Griffith, though held his own throughout the 100-lap race, turning some of his fastest laps of the event in the closing laps. With another limited practice on deck at Kansas, Griffith has a better baseline than Kentucky.

“Although the tracks are different, the mindset is still the same,” added Griffith. “I know I’ll be able to trust the car and we can keep working on it. The more the race went on at Kentucky the more comfortable I became.

“I have to get into that frame of mind as if I’m competing in those last couple of laps at Kentucky during practice at Kansas to put us in a good spot for the race.”

Still, while the fundamentals are the same, Kansas Speedway will run under the lights, providing a new element for Griffith.

“I think it’s going to be a blast racing under the light at Kansas,” sounded Griffith. “Yes, I think the handling has the opportunity to change itself depending on the track conditions, but that’s why I have Paul (Andrews) in my corner to help make it all seem seamless.

“I really think with what I learned at Kentucky and our determination as a team should put us in a good spot for the race.”

Saturday’s race will mark the fourth race with Original Gourmet™ Food Company as the primary partner of Griffith’s No.

Team owner Chad Bryant says Griffith is doing everything he needs to do behind the wheel and hopes to continue to showcase his ability in his second stint with a mile-and-a-half track this weekend.

“Derek has done a great job in the No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion,” offered Bryant. “I was super impressed of the job he did at Kentucky with the lack of actual on-track time. If the race was 50 laps longer, we would have been able to get a few more spots on the track.

“The gains he made at Kentucky will be put on display at Kansas and I look forward to seeing our No. 22 Original Gourmet™ Food Company Ford Fusion contending for a stronger finish.”

  • Jason Kitzmiller, CR7 Motorsports look for another top-10 in ARCA competition at Kansas Speedway

Jason Kitzmiller, CR7 Motorsports look for another top-10 in ARCA competition at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Continuing to impress in his limited ARCA Menards Series schedule with CR7 Motorsports, rookie Jason Kitzmiller invades Kansas Speedway looking for his third top-10 finish in just his sixth series’ start in Friday night’s Dawn 150.

After bouncing back from an accident at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last month, Kitzmiller and his Codie Rohrbaugh-led team bounced back with a top-10 finish at Kentucky Speedway earlier this month, a huge accomplishment for the rookie in his intermediate track debut.

With success in the books, Kitzmiller heads to Kansas Speedway extremely humbled and determined to add more laps to his resume.

“I’m ready,” says Kitzmiller. “I learned a lot in Kentucky. I mean a ton. It was important for me and our CR7 Motorsports team to not only bounce back but make some strides. We kept working on our No. 97 A.L.L. Construction Inc. Chevrolet and it was really comfortable at the end of the race.

“I need to go to Kansas Speedway this weekend and capitalize and keep showing everyone that we have fast cars and that experience is paying off.”

Being a rookie in ARCA Menards Series competition, Kitzmiller admits he has put pressure on himself to perform, especially with his lack of stock car experience, but with the armed personnel of former ARCA competitor Rohrbaugh and advice from a spotter like Tim Fedewa, Kitzmiller is happy with his 2020 season so far.

“Codie, Doug (George) and Tim (Fedewa) have all been a huge asset to me,” Kitzmiller added. “Whether it’s doing something right or doing something wrong – I’m listening to every word.

“Codie has had success at Kansas Speedway before and I’m hoping that I can adjust to a similar setup and we can be in a good position when the green flag drops. I think it is going to be a quick race and I believe we will have a couple of opportunities to work on it and be better for the future.”

It will be a busy weekend for CR7 Motorsports. In addition to the Dawn 150, the team will also compete in back-to-back NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race with Rohrbaugh aboard the No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado.

The team will continue to bring attention to Joshua Shirk.

On May 17, 2020, eight-year-old Joshua Shirk was kayaking with family in rural West Virginia.

While on the water, the kayak capsized and Shirk became trapped under the water in debris.

When family was finally able to pull him to safety, the young boy had no pulse. Quick work by medical workers at a local hospital were able to revive him but he remained in critical condition.

Shirk was later transported to WVU hospital in Morganton, West Virginia where he has made vast improvements but still needs the love, prayer and support of many.

Over the last three weeks, Shirk has been able to come off a breathing machine and has started intense physical rehabilitations with a focus on working his muscles and standing up with assistance. His progress this week has been exceptional, as his muscles continue to strengthen.

With prayer, love and support working, Rohrbaugh and Kitzmiller hopes others will now pledge their support alongside his CR7 Motorsports team uniting strength in numbers and the power of prayer.

“This continues to be really important to me,” said Rohrbaugh. “The prayers from everyone are working and I’m so happy that Joshua is making huge strides towards his recovery. I plead when asking the NASCAR and ARCA communities to continue to support him by offering their thoughts and prayers to his family. It really means a lot to me.”

Marketing partnership(s) opportunities are available for the No. 97 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet and No. 9 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet for the 2020 ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series seasons and beyond. Interested inquiries are encouraged to contact at tonya@gcmulch.com or 304.257.8783.

Codie Rohrbaugh, CR7 Motorsports embrace double header at Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan: Stopping the bleeding from a stretch of four races outside the top-25, Codie Rohrbaugh and his CR7 Motorsports team steer to Kansas Speedway for a dose of back-to-back NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races this weekend.

Recovering for a respectable 22nd place finish this past weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, the Statesville, N.C.-based team hopes the ship has sailed on the recent string of bad luck and sees 400-miles of racing in the Midwest Friday night and Saturday as an opportunity to rekindle the team’s early season success.

“Texas was definitely a positive for us,” said Rohrbaugh. “After our stretch of races in June and early July – we needed to come out of Texas with a clean race and something to build on. We did that and now we can go and attack Kansas with eyes wide open.”

Although the 26-year-old Rohrbaugh doesn’t have any experience at Kansas’s 1.5-mile layout in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, the Petersburg, West Virginia native does have three ARCA Menards Series starts from 2016 to 2018 which included a top-10 finish during the 2017 campaign.

While it has been a while since he has seen Kansas, Rohrbaugh is hoping his first laps in the No. 9 CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet will be like old times.

“Statistically speaking, I’ve faired pretty OK at Kanas Speedway,” he said. “My first year there in ARCA we had a pretty fast car but had some electrical issues. We came back a year later and finished top-10.

“In 2019, we were chasing another top-10, but strategy didn’t fall our way and we ended up 12th. Still, I like Kansas and how it races. I’m hoping we can transfer some of our ARCA success to the Truck program and get back to chasing top-15 runs with the intentions of getting us some more top-10 finishes before the end of the season.”

NASCAR announced this week that the remainder of the season will be hosted without practice or qualifying and while Rohrbaugh admits the extra track time would be beneficial at some tracks, he is taking the news in stride.

“I think some places it’s going to be challenging and other places we’ll be fine,” offered Rohrbaugh. “It’s just how it goes. I think we are blessed to just be racing to be honest. We’ll take the good with the bad and just fight hard to keep our team as close to the front as possible.”

For the fourth and fifth consecutive races, CR7 Motorsports and their partner Grant County Mulch has again given up their space this weekend race for Joshua Shirk. The No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado has been designed with a western-theme scheme, personally selected by Shirk.

The hood carries a special touch with Shirk displaying a message of his own that he wrote before the accident, “I am a child of God. He saves me. I talk to he.”

With prayer, love and support working, Rohrbaugh hopes others will now pledge their support alongside his CR7 Motorsports team uniting strength in numbers and the power of prayer.

“This continues to be really important to me,” said Rohrbaugh. “The prayers from everyone are working and I’m so happy that Joshua is making huge strides towards his recovery. I plead when asking the NASCAR community to continue to support him by offering their thoughts and prayers to his family. It really means a lot to me.”
After eight races, Rohrbaugh is 21st in the championship standings.

CR7 Motorsports will also field an entry in Friday night’s Dawn 150 ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas. Newcomer Jason Kitzmiller will drive the No. 97 Chevrolet on the heels of his second career top-10 finish at Kentucky Speedway on Jul. 11, 2020.

CR7 Motorsports has 19 NGOTS starts to their credit with a career-best finish of third at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2020). Additionally, the team owns another top-10 finish at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway in October 2019. An 11th place qualifying effort at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway (Oct. 2019) is the team’s best time trials effort to date.

In 20 career ARCA starts, Rohrbaugh has a best finish of seventh twice at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (July 2018 and Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2019). He has qualified a career-best fourth on four different occasions most recently at Kansas Speedway (Oct. 2018).

Hailie Deegan, No. 4 Monster Energy Ford Fusion

Hailie Deegan is ready to get back on track, literally and figuratively, Friday at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City. After not finishing outside of the top 10 all season in the ARCA Menards Series, the last two races have not gone well for the 19-year-old rookie. She was hooked into the wall while running third with 24 laps remaining at Kentucky Speedway on July 11. Last weekend a broken track bar ended her day while running second at Iowa Speedway. Deegan is ready to restart her top-10 streak this Friday at Kansas.

The Temecula, Calif., native has one prior ARCA start at Kansas. Last year she competed in the series’ season finale there. She started 12th and finished eighth in her first start at an intermediate track. Kansas will be only the second intermediate-track race for the ARCA Menards Series this season, the other being Kentucky two weeks ago.

The DGR-Crosley team is taking a Monster Energy Ford Fusion which Deegan has not raced yet this season. It has been a backup car for some races and was in the DGR-Crosley stable last year before being rebuilt as a Fusion in the off season.

The Dawn 150 will be live on FS1 at 10 p.m. ET on Friday. The race will be 100 laps and 150 miles. There will be scheduled competition breaks at, or around laps 30 and 60.

Deegan on Kansas: “Kansas is really fun. It’s the first mile-and-a-half track I ever raced on. It’s got tight walls on exit, so we want to make sure our Monster Energy Ford is not tight. I think we have a good piece to work with based on how we baselined at Kentucky, our first intermediate track we raced this year with DGR-Crosley. We should have a good set-up. We are kind of perfecting that set-up right now to bring it to Kansas. Hopefully we have a good run and win soon.”

Tanner Gray, No. 17 Pneumatech Ford Fusion

Tanner Gray returns to the ARCA Menards Series this Friday for a triple-duty weekend at Kansas Speedway. He will compete in both the ARCA and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races on Friday night, followed up by another Truck Series race on Saturday afternoon. Gray hopes the experience he gains in the ARCA race will parlay into success in the Truck Series race on Saturday.

This will be Gray’s sixth ARCA start of the season, and his second at Kansas Speedway. He competed in the series’ season finale at Kansas last fall and finished sixth. In five starts this year, he has one top-five and two top-10 finishes. The DGR-Crosley team will be taking the same Ford Fusion which Gray finished ninth with at Kentucky Speedway two weeks ago.

This Friday Gray’s No. 17 Ford Fusion will have a new look. Pneumatech will be the primary sponsor for the race. Since 1966, Pneumatech has provided industry-leading compressed air and gas treatment solutions to production facilities across the globe. Its innovative machines and accessories provide clean, dry air and gas to industries such as automotive, textile, power generation, oil & gas, food & beverage, and electronics. The Dawn 150 will be live on FS1 at 10 p.m. ET on Friday. The race will be 100 laps and 150 miles. There will be scheduled competition breaks at, or around laps 30 and 60.

Gray on Kansas: “When the season started I had only planned on running four ARCA races this year, but we keep adding more since the extra seat time is such a huge help for me. Without having practice, or qualifying in the Truck Series, the ARCA races have really helped me gain experience. I ran at Kansas last fall and it was a fun track. The more I can race the better off I am. Being able to run 234 laps Friday night between the two races will be a huge help for Saturday and the other intermediate tracks.

“I’m also happy to have Pneumatech on board with us for the ARCA race. This is the first time they have sponsored me and I hope we can give them a lot of exposure with a really good run Friday night.”

Thad Moffitt, No. 46 Richard Petty Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford Fusion

Thad Moffitt will make his first start at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City on Friday in the ARCA Menards Series. Not only will it be his first start at Kansas, but only his fourth start on an intermediate track in his career. In his previous three starts on mile-and-a-half tracks, he has two top-10 finishes at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Chicago Speedway in 2019. He finished 15th after an accident ended his race early at Kentucky Speedway two weeks ago.

Moffitt, the grandson of NASCAR legend Richard Petty, has achieved the best results of his career so far this season. Prior to 2020, he had 15 starts with four top-10 finishes. This year alone, he has four top-10 and two top-five finishes in seven starts. His fifth-place finishes at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway outside of Indianapolis are his best in the ARCA Menards Series to date.

On Friday, Moffitt will be driving the same Ford Fusion which Tanner Gray drove at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last month.

The Dawn 150 will be live on FS1 at 10 p.m. ET on Friday. The race will be 100 laps and 150 miles. There will be scheduled competition breaks at, or around laps 30 and 60.

Moffitt on Kansas: “I’ve never raced at Kansas, but I heard that it is pretty similar to Kentucky, so after running there two weeks ago we have a good baseline. We worked on our car all day and got better, but we still lacked a little bit of handling and speed. I think we’ll have a good baseline going into Kansas and hopefully turn it into a good, positive race, since we need one for sure right now.”
