NHRA RELEASES 2025 SCHEDULES FOR SPECIALTY CLASSES

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 11, 2024) – NHRA announced today the 2025 season schedule for each of its five specialty classes.

The Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, NHRA Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown™, NHRA Holley EFI Factory X, Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock and Pingel Top Fuel Motorcycle classes will return to the track at several NHRA national events throughout the 2025 season, giving fans a variety of thrilling options at races across the country.

The fan-favorite Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will kick off its 10-race season at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville before heading to the NHRA Arizona Nationals, returning to Phoenix and Firebird Motorsports Park after a successful debut in 2024. The regular season will continue with races at the four-wide race in Charlotte, Chicago and Bristol, with the final race before the playoffs taking place in Richmond.

The category’s Road to the Championship playoffs begin at the prestigious Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, continuing to the Charlotte fall race and St. Louis. Finally, NHRA will crown a Pro Mod champion at the fall race in Las Vegas. Can reigning 2024 champion Jordan Lazic go back-to-back, or will a new champion claim the title in 2025? Fans will be treated to fierce competition all season from the drivers of the standout class.

The ultra-competitive NHRA Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown™ class crowned Mark Pawuk the world champion last season, as the veteran won his first championship in the category. The factory hot rod class will have eight events during the 2025 season, beginning in Gainesville.

From there, Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown will race at the four-wide event in Charlotte, Chicago, Bristol and Norwalk, also taking part in the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis. The season then heads to Reading and Maple Grove Raceway before wrapping up their 2025 campaign at the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis.

In 2024, the NHRA Holley EFI Factory X division made its debut as an official class and racing enthusiasts were thrilled to welcome a new category to the NHRA ranks. The class’s sophomore season will start at the NHRA spring race at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte and continue for an eight-race series. Stops also include Chicago, Richmond, Norwalk and the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, as well Reading and St. Louis.

The category will finish its 2025 season in Dallas for the first time, as a champion will be crowned at the 40th annual Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex. Long-time NHRA racer Greg Stanfield earned the world title this season.

The Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Mountain Motor Pro Stock category has long been a fan-favorite category, boasting big speeds, big engines and popular hood scoops. The class was an official category in 2024, with Johnny Pluchino walking away with the championship.

This season, Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Mountain Motor Pro Stock will expand to an eight-race season, beginning at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte in late April. The year continues in Epping, Bristol and Norwalk for a busy June, and then will compete at Brainerd International Raceway in August. After a pair of September dates in Reading and the Charlotte fall race, the category will crown its champion in St. Louis as the class continues to grow at an impressive rate.

Finally, the Pingel Top Fuel Motorcycle division is once again set for a four-race season, beginning at the Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance in Chicago and continuing to Richmond, Brainerd and the Charlotte fall event. World champion and fan-favorite Larry “Spiderman” McBride will again be on track on his record-breaking motorcycle, looking to again incredible speeds of well more than 200 mph.

The Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at the famed facility in Pomona has enjoyed an incredible history of more than six decades and serves as one of the highlights on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour, especially early in the season.

The 2025 event, which is the third of 20 races during the year, promises to deliver all the thrilling racing action racing fans expect from the stars of the NHRA and returns to four qualifying sessions for the NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series. Also returning to In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip will be the popular Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge. Semifinalists from the NHRA Arizona Nationals from the previous week will meet up again for a rematch, adding competitive racing to the Saturday schedule, with the winner taking home a bonus purse and bonus championship points.

“We always look forward to returning to In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip and we’re excited to celebrate 65 years of the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals during our 2025 season,” said NHRA Vice President of Track Management and Operations, Kasey Coler. “The Winternationals is an event loaded with history and special moments, and as one of the longest-running races on the NHRA tour, it’s always an event everyone looks forward to each year. Ashley has enjoyed an impressive run at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, winning three straight years and advancing to four straight final rounds at the historic race. Last year, he defeated eight-time champion Tony Schumacher, and he’ll look to get four straight Winternationals victories – something no driver in Top Fuel history has ever accomplished. Ashley finished his 2024 campaign third in the points standings, with four wins to his credit. He also claimed the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge championship, by earning the most Challenge points.

Force, the winningest driver in NHRA history, picked up yet another Lucas Oil Winternationals win a year ago, defeating Hagan in the final round. Force finished runner-up in points to his teammate Austin Prock, after Jack Beckman stepped in for Force following his crash in Virginia.

Glenn battled all season for a Pro Stock championship that came down to the final pass of the 2024 season at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, with his teammate Greg Anderson claiming the world title. Glenn won a stout five events, with his first of 2024 coming at the Winternationals. Glenn earned two No. 1 qualifier spots, including the first Pomona race as well.

  • WINNER-TAKE-ALL FINAL ROUND LEADS TO GREG ANDERSON’S MOST MEANINGFUL NHRA PRO STOCK TITLE

WINNER-TAKE-ALL FINAL ROUND LEADS TO GREG ANDERSON’S MOST MEANINGFUL NHRA PRO STOCK TITLE

Pro Stock’s all-time wins leader caps 2024 season with unbelievable comeback, sixth title and 106th career win

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 27, 2024) – Greg Anderson has enjoyed as much success as nearly everyone in NHRA history. But this year’s sixth Pro Stock championship might have been the most meaningful accomplishment of his stellar career.

Anderson got the situation he longed craved for – a winner-take-all final round in Pomona – and the veteran delivered in a major way, defeating KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn in a thriller with a run of 6.501-seconds at 211.30 mph in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to narrowly defeat Glenn’s 6.516.

It handed the driver with the most wins in Pro Stock history (106) an unbelievable moment in a situation many would have thought improbable just few short weeks prior. As he’s been prone to do throughout his championship career, Anderson found another level when he needed it, warding off the young talent for one more year and winning a championship he said meant more than any of the previous five.

“I definitely feel that way,” Anderson said. “Our class is in good shape, that’s the good news. We’ve got so many young guns who can drive the wheels off these things and they’re racing for wins and championships. Yes, they’re trying to push me out the door, but I’m dragging my feet. People ask me when I’m going to quit and I’ll quit when I can’t win anymore. Apparently, I can’t quit yet. It’s not going to be tomorrow.”

With his sixth world championship, Anderson ties longtime rival Erica Enders and legend Warren Johnson for the second-most titles in Pro Stock history. This one will certainly go down as one of the most remarkable, as both young standouts Glenn and Aaron Stanfield seemed to take control this season and during the Countdown to the Championship.

Anderson won early, taking victories in Phoenix and the 4-Wide race in Charlotte, the latter which handed him the points lead. That only lasted a race, but Anderson stayed in the top four throughout the regular season as his car took a handful of No. 1 qualifiers. He lost in the final round at Bristol and then entered the Countdown to the Championship third in points.

Anderson advanced to the semifinals at the first three playoff races and then made it to the finals in both Dallas and Las Vegas, qualifying No. 1 at both races. Each race ended in defeat, though, as the championship seemed to be slipping from his grasp.

Stanfield won in Vegas, taking over the points lead with Glenn not far behind. Anderson knew he needed Pomona magic and, lo and behold, everything seemed to go his way at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. He qualified No. 1 and then the eliminations ladder broke down almost perfectly, as Anderson could potentially face Stanfield in the semifinals and Glenn in the finals.

He knew if he won the race the championship was his and the veteran went to work, dipping into the 6.40s during the first three rounds on Sunday. That included an impressive 6.488 against Stanfield, setting up the incredible teammate versus teammate, winner-take-all scenario in the final round. Anderson had just enough to track down Glenn, ensuring the veterans still had the final say in the class. Since 2018, either Anderson or Enders have won every Pro Stock title, with Anderson winning twice in that span.

“I had been struggling the last 3-4 months. I had not been able to close the deal,” Anderson said. “I’ve had a great, great car and couldn’t win a race. We kept working and kept dreaming that we could get one and (Pomona) was that day. My car was flawless and I didn’t screw it up driving, we got four win lights and a championship and I just about can’t believe it. I’ve been thinking about this scenario for the last week-and-a-half and it came true.

“I love racing at Pomona and it’s a perfect place to end it all. I was happy to be part of that final round. I just got it done and had a great hot rod. It was a great team win. Dallas was deadly on the tree all weekend and thank goodness I just did enough.”

The dramatics of the final round carried Anderson to an unreal 15th win at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip, and he finished 2024 with three wins, six finals and eight No. 1 qualifiers.

By winning his sixth world title, he also gave KB Titan Racing its 10th overall championship, a spectacular number that will have a chance to grow in 2025. Anderson beamed with joy following his Pomona triumph, praising all the people who have made his wonderful career possible.

“We’ve built a heck of an organization here,” Anderson said. “The thing I’m most proud of is putting this race team together. Ken Black handed it to me and that’s what I’m most proud of, the people I’ve surrounded myself with. People are everything and I’ve got a great bunch of them. This team dug in and we persevered at the end. I’m just a lucky man. All the support means everything to me.”

The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 6-9 with the NHRA Gatornationals at legendary Gainesville Raceway. For more information about NHRA, including the 2025 schedule, please visit www.NHRA.com.

  • FUNNY CAR’S AUSTIN PROCK LEAVES NO DOUBT EN ROUTE TO DOMINANT NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

FUNNY CAR’S AUSTIN PROCK LEAVES NO DOUBT EN ROUTE TO DOMINANT NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

Prock’s record-breaking season, including monumental 341.68 mph blast, 8 wins and 15 No. 1 qualifiers, leads to first world title

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 26, 2024) – Making a dream a reality is never easy, but surrounded by family and a standout team, Funny Car’s Austin Prock lived out a lifelong aspiration during his dominant, championship-winning 2024 season in the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Prock left no doubt, turning in one of the most incredible seasons in recent Funny Car history, blistering track records, setting national marks and making the fastest run in NHRA history in the process.

It was everything Prock dreamed of – and much, much more – when he made his Funny Car debut this season. Filling in for John Force Racing President Robert Hight, a three-time world champion, Prock had big shoes to fill, but it’s an opportunity he relished. Prock raced alongside star crew chief and his father, Jimmy Prock, and his brother, Thomas, fulfilling a dream that only seemed to get better as the season went on.

Prock won eight races, tying him with Hight and Ron Capps for the most in a single season in Funny Car since 2000, with his playoff victory in Las Vegas putting him in position to clinch the world title during qualifying in Pomona. The 2019 Rookie of the Year did that and then went 3.804-seonds – the quickest run in Funny Car since 2017 and the fourth-quickest in history – to close out qualifying and his championship season with an emphatic exclamation point in his 11,000-horsepower Cornwell Tools/AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS.

“If you have a dream, go for it,” Prock said. “If you’re passionate about something, go after it. You’re not going to be the best if you don’t put in the most work and the most effort, and all I’ve ever cared about is driving a race car. We’ve always been passionate about it and we’ve always been surrounded by great people.

“I didn’t feel much pressure at all, all season long. I was nervous getting into a totally different car, but this is what I’ve dreamed of. I just tried to block everything out and focus on what I needed to do. I study my craft every day and see things I can do better. I know I can drive a race car, it was just a matter of if I could do it at a championship level. I was not going to be a weak link. I told myself I was going to work hard and get the job done, and we did it.”

Prock grabbed everyone’s attention immediately in Gainesville, qualifying No. 1 with a stout 3.820 and advancing to the final round. His first career Funny Car victory came two races later in Phoenix, following it with a runner-up to his boss, John Force, in Epping and a victory in Bristol.

The following race was an emotional one, but Prock won in Richmond following Force’s devastating crash in eliminations. He added another victory in Seattle and then closed out the regular season in style, picking up his first career U.S. Nationals victory. In that span, Prock was building something special in qualifying, too, putting him close to a record Force set nearly 30 years ago.

Force took 13 No. 1 qualifiers that year, but Prock sped past that, tying the mark in Dallas with a 3.813 and then setting the single-second Funny Car (and nitro) record for top qualifiers in a season with a 3.817 in Las Vegas. He added one more for good measure thanks to his 3.804 in Pomona, giving him 15 No. 1 qualifiers in 20 races.

The championship was always the main goal and Prock left no doubt there, either. He won the first two playoff rounds and put together 14 straight round wins at one point from Indy through St. Louis. The championship was practically sewn up in Vegas and by Saturday night in Pomona, Prock was able to exhale with the trophy in his hands.

“You always come into a race season wanting to do well and everyone on this team just did an outstanding job,” Prock said. “We all kept our heads down through the good moments, the bad moments and that’s what it takes to be a champion. This year has just been filled with so much emotion.

“I’ve been working towards this for 19 years. I started driving race cars when I was 10 years old and all I could think of was being a professional race car driver in any manner and winning the world championship, and we got it done this year. I got to do it with my family, with my dad turning the knobs with my brother. I’m really proud of that.”

The numbers speak for themselves, as Prock enjoyed six of the seven quickest runs in Funny Car this season. He qualified No. 1 in five of the six Countdown races, advancing to 12 final rounds and racking up a spectacular 53-12 record in 2024. To fully finish off the season with a remarkable bow, Prock went an amazing 341.68 mph during eliminations in Pomona, making the fastest run in NHRA history. It was a lasting parting shot for the season, but if Prock has his way, it won’t be his last.

“We don’t plan on letting up anytime soon,” Prock said. “We plan on getting better in the off-season, and we want to get these Camaros quicker and faster. I’m excited for next year and it’s a heck of an opportunity. I’m proud to be part of John Force Racing and all the great partnerships we have.”

The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 6-9 with the NHRA Gatornationals at legendary Gainesville Raceway. For more information about NHRA, including the 2025 schedule, please visit www.NHRA.com.

  • FOURTH NHRA WORLD TITLE WORTH THE WAIT FOR TOP FUEL’S ANTRON BROWN

FOURTH NHRA WORLD TITLE WORTH THE WAIT FOR TOP FUEL’S ANTRON BROWN

Brown gets past loaded field in Pomona, earns 80th career win to cap off dream weekend, first title as team owner

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 25, 2024) – On a day that summed up just how incredible the competition is in the Top Fuel category, Antron Brown’s fourth world championship – and first as a team owner – came only after a remarkable run through a loaded field at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.

Eight years after he won his third title, Brown had to earn every bit of his fourth championship at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals, knocking off Justin Ashley, Shawn Langdon, Brittany Force and Doug Kalitta to cap off one of the biggest days in his spectacular career.

It was necessary work to win a title, but by no means was it easy work for Brown and his standout team. Ashley entered the weekend as the points leader, Langdon was third (one point behind Brown), and both Kalitta and Force were in championship contention. An early defeat would have ended Brown’s championship dreams, but the four-time champion embraced the moment – as he always seems to do in pressure situations – and slipped past Ashley in a side-by-side thriller in his 11,000-horsepower Matco Tools/Toyota dragster.

He then got past Langdon and clinched the championship against Force, going 3.693-seconds to claim NHRA’s ultimate prize. For good measure, Brown finished the weekend with his 80th career win, the final brushstroke on a championship that puts the amazing Brown in even more elite territory.

“This is what you have to do to win a championship,” Brown said. “If you look at the Top Fuel class right now, it’s incredible. You can keep going down the list. I’m telling you, pound-for-pound, Top Fuel is the toughest class out there. Just winning the first round now is like winning a final round.

“You’ve got to be at a top-notch level no matter who you’re racing. We’ve done our fair share of winning this year and once we got in a groove, it really helped our confidence. But no matter what, this is a team that stays humble and stays hungry, and we’re always learning to improve. That’s what we did Sunday in Pomona.”

All year, Brown and his team rose to occasion. By winning a fourth championship, he joins Tony Schumacher, Steve Torrence and Joe Amato as the only Top Fuel drivers to win four or more championships, while his 80 wins are good for sixth-most in NHRA history.

This season was filled with highlights for the fan-favorite, starting the year with a victory and a huge payday at the Pep Boys Top Fuel All-Star Callout. Brown then won regular-season races in Chicago, Norwalk and Sonoma, entering the Countdown to the Championship fifth in points.

He was a dynamo to open the postseason, winning back-to-back races in Reading and Charlotte to jump into the points lead. But as quickly as things came together, adversity came in the loaded Top Fuel field, as Brown post just two round wins at the next three races, falling to second in points.

Nobody, though, could take command in that stretch – another nod to the incredible competition in the class – giving Brown an opportunity to finish the job in Pomona. He did that and more, knocking off the points leader and three world champions to capture his first championship since officially forming AB Motorsports.

“This is super special,” Brown said. “We just never lost faith. It’s truly been a blessing. It hasn’t been easy and we’ve had those races where you’ve had to do the unthinkable to get it done, and I’m so proud of my team for getting it done. We’ve been through these moments time and time again to win a championship. That’s where the experience kicks in and it was a lot of fun to go through them.”

It was certainly a difficult road, as Brown qualified just 12th in Pomona to set up the marquee matchup with Ashley right off the bat. Brown was stellar on the starting line and had just enough to squeak past Ashley, going 3.696 to his 3.704. After a 3.693 against Force, Brown closed out the day with a 3.681 to defeat Kalitta and claim his sixth victory of the season.

Brown was perfect in final-rounds in 2024, again rising to the occasion when the situation called for it. He remained firmly focused on a championship all season, but now that it’s here, the champion was thrilled to take a minute to reflect on what he accomplished and the road it took to get there.

“I’m not one of those people to look at all those accolades. I’m always hungry for the next, so this championship is going to sit well this off-season,” Brown said. “This class is only going to get tougher, so we’re going to have to keep working harder. Looking at all the things we’ve done the last three years, it’s been incredible. I’m just so blessed to be on a team with the group of people we have. Everyone on this team digs in deep and we have so many key people who make this happen. That’s a testament to all the work we do together. We have a lot of strong links and we have a group that never quits.”

The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 6-9 with the NHRA Gatornationals at legendary Gainesville Raceway. For more information about NHRA, including the 2025 schedule, please visit www.NHRA.com.

  • TONY STEWART NAMED 2024 NHRA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

TONY STEWART NAMED 2024 NHRA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

TEMECULA, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2024) – In one of the closest races in recent history, Top Fuel driver and motorsports legend Tony Stewart was named the 2024 NHRA Rookie of the Year in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Stewart was awarded Rookie of the Year honors Monday at the NHRA awards ceremony at the Pechanga Resort Casino. He was part of a standout field and a hotly-contested race that included Brandon Foster, Richard Gadson, Derrick Reese, Jasmine Salinas, Sienna Wildgust, Daniel Wilkerson and Ida Zetterstrom.

“It’s a big honor to win this award this season,” Stewart said. “There are some great drivers in the NHRA and it’s one of the most diverse forms of motorsports I’ve been a part of. I’ve had a really good time working with the series this season to promote and continue to grow the sport.”

Making his Top Fuel debut in 2024, Stewart advanced to a pair of final rounds, four semifinals, a berth in the Countdown to the Championship and a ninth-place finish in Top Fuel points. Stewart took over driving duties for his wife, Top Fuel standout Leah Pruett, this year as the couple focused on starting a family.

Pruett gave birth to the couple’s first child, Dominic James Stewart, early Sunday morning, as Stewart then traveled back to Pomona to compete at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals that same day. He advanced to the semifinals to close out the NHRA season, one that also included a career-best run of 3.688-seconds at 334.73-mph in his 11,000-horsepower dragster.

Stewart is one of motorsports’ most accomplished stars, winning championships in both NASCAR and IndyCar. He formed the two-car Tony Stewart Racing NHRA team in 2022 and raced in the Top Alcohol Dragster ranks in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series sportsman ranks before moving to Top Fuel in 2024.

“It was an honor to be part of this group this year,” said Stewart, a NASCAR Hall of Famer. “The two main coaches I had were Matt Hagan and my wife, Leah. Thank you Leah for giving me this opportunity and I want to thank everyone at NHRA. It’s been a blast this year.”

Pro Stock Motorcycle rising star Richard Gadson finished third in points in the two-wheeled category, advancing to a trio of final rounds and four semifinals. Gadson also won a Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge race.

Salinas and Zetterstrom both made impressive Top Fuel debuts during the 2024 season, showing their potential to become major stars in the sport. Salinas, who took over driving for her father, Mike, had three round wins, dipping into the 3.60s for the first time at the finale in Pomona. Zetterstrom, the 2023 European Top Fuel world champion, made her NHRA debut in Brainerd, competing in the last eight races of 2024 and picking up three round wins as well.

Wilkerson took over for his father and longtime standout, Tim Wilkerson, in the Funny Car ranks, advancing to the final round at the Charlotte 4-Wide race. He finished seventh in points and also advanced to three semifinals.

Pro Stock drivers Foster, Reese and Wildgust also took to the track in the very competitive class.

Last season, Chase Van Sant was named the 2023 Rookie of the Year. Other recent winners include Pro Stock’s Camrie Caruso in 2022 and Dallas Glenn in 2021, Top Fuel’s Justin Ashley in 2020 and Austin Prock in 2019. Prock won his first world championship in Funny Car in 2024.

The NHRA Rookie of the Year award recognizes the top rookie competitor who also represents the future of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. The nation’s leading auto racing journalists select the winner through a voting system based on the following criteria: number of events competed in, performance on and off the racetrack, participation in NHRA promotions, and relationships with fans, sponsors, and media.

Toyota Wins First NHRA Manufacturers Cup

Takes home manufacturer championship in 23rd season of NHRA racing

PLANO, Texas (Nov. 19, 2024) – For the first time in its 23 seasons of NHRA competition, Toyota has won the NHRA Manufacturers Cup. The 2024 season was the first time NHRA included the Top Fuel category in its distinctions for the Manufacturers Cup, to which Toyota’s resounding success in Top Fuel this year, along with its achievements in Funny Car, led to its first-ever season triumph.

2024 was another astounding year for Toyota in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, where the manufacturer captured 16 victories in 20 NHRA events across the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories. At least one Toyota supported entry made the final round in every NHRA event this season and the brand has been represented in the final round in 43 consecutive races. Additionally, Toyota won its second consecutive Top Fuel driver’s championship, and eighth overall, with Antron Brown this season.

“The 2024 NHRA season has been storybook for Toyota and to complete it with our first NHRA Manufacturers Cup is icing on the cake,” said Paul Doleshal, Group Manager, motorsports, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). “None of this would’ve been possible without the incredible efforts of our partner teams, drivers, our engineers at TRD and so many others this season, and we’re proud to celebrate with all involved. This championship is another tremendous accomplishment in Toyota’s motorsports history and one we’ll be sure to cherish for a long time.”

Toyota supports six teams across NHRA’s Top Fuel and Funny Car categories, including Kalitta Motorsports, Torrence Racing, AB Motorsports, SCAG Racing’s Top Fuel program, Ron Capps Motorsports and DC Motorsports. Toyota drivers who were victorious during the 2024 season include: Antron Brown (six wins), Justin Ashley (four wins), Doug Kalitta (three wins), Shawn Langdon (two wins), Steve Torrence (one win) and J.R. Todd (one win). Toyota drivers also captured 11 No. 1 qualifying positions throughout the season.

Toyota first entered NHRA drag racing in 2002 and has won eight Top Fuel and four Funny Car world championships with its supporting teams over its tenure. In Top Fuel, Toyota has won championships with Antron Brown (2024, 2016, 2015 and 2012), Doug Kalitta (2023), Shawn Langdon (2013), Del Worsham (2011) and Larry Dixon (2010). Toyota has captured Funny Car world championships with Ron Capps (2022), J.R. Todd (2018), Del Worsham (2015) and Cruz Pedregon (2008).

2024 NHRA MISSION FOODS DRAG RACING SERIES CHAMPIONS HONORED AT ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

TEMECULA, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2024) – First-time world champion Austin Prock was honored Monday evening, along with multi-time world champs Antron Brown, Greg Anderson and Gaige Herrera during the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series awards ceremony at the Pechanga Resort Casino in scenic Southern California Wine Country.

The four standout competitors were crowned for their incredible achievements over the course of the 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season and awarded their trophies for their championship runs during a memorable Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

After a record-breaking year in his rookie Funny Car season, Prock secured his first world championship on Saturday following qualifying at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals at the historic In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. Prock entered Pomona with a 188-point lead over his John Force Racing teammate Jack Beckman, who was racing for 16-time champion John Force. Throughout the season, Prock was nearly unstoppable and collected eight event wins, including three in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, as well as 15 No. 1 qualifier positions, the most in Funny Car history. He then powered to NHRA’s fastest-ever pass on Sunday in Pomona when he clocked a 341.68 mph run, giving Prock the status of fastest driver in NHRA history.

Brown secured his fourth world championship on Sunday following his semifinal victory over former champion Brittany Force. His Matco Tools Toyota Top Fuel team then went on to win the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals over 2023 champion Doug Kalitta. Brown picked up six wins in 2024, tallying 80 career wins throughout his NHRA tenure. The Pro Stock championship battle came down to the final pass of the 2024 season with a winner-take-all matchup between Anderson and his KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn, with Anderson coming away with his sixth world championship in his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro. Throughout the 2024 season, Anderson remained consistent, staying within the top four all year. He picked up a win early at the Arizona Nationals at Firebird Motorsports Park and then went on to win at his home track at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte. He picked up back-to-back final round appearances in the Countdown in Dallas and Las Vegas, before taking home his third win of the year at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals. The NHRA veteran earned his 106th win on Sunday and his 15th at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.

For a second straight year, Herrera dominated the Pro Stock Motorcycle class en route to his second consecutive world championship. Rider of the RevZilla/Mission Foods/Vance & Hines Suzuki, Herrera powered his way to 10 event wins throughout the 2024 season, including the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals as well as three wins in the playoffs.
