    TF Qualifying Result: 2nd

Did you feel you had more in the race car to go after the number one qualifier?

“I think we wanted to try and push the envelope a little. To be honest with you, I think that we actually had a little bit more in it. We didn’t go full throttle. We also wanted to make sure we went down the track. Tomorrow it depends on the weather conditions but anticipating what it’s going to be like, I certainly think that you’re going to have to make a throw down type of run if you want to give yourself a chance to win every round.”

ALEXIS DEJORIA, Bandero Tequila Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, DC Motorsports

    FC Qualifying Result: 5th

What has your progress been like this season and how has your team progressed from last year?

“We’ve been working towards our current success. We’ve been through hell and back. We’re really excited about how we’ve been running and to be running this well early in the season and to be consistent the last few races. We’ve been getting down the track when a lot of cars haven’t been getting down the track. It’s just pretty much up to me now. I have to do my part to make it down there and get off the starting line in a decent time. And not get too far ahead in the game – just stay focused and stay in my seat.”

Do you feel you’re performing better this weekend than you did in Vegas?

“I hope we’re going to do better than Vegas because that was definitely our race to lose. This is a new race and a new four-wide. I have yet to win a four-wide. It’s exciting. Hopefully we will go some round on Sunday and make it to the winner’s circle.”

    How important are qualifying points?

“Points are key. Obviously, we want to get as many points as we can, but I want to win this race. It’s time. It’s past time. We need our first race win this year.”

How has your consistency helped the team’s momentum this season?

“Having a good consistent race car is a huge confidence builder for the whole entire team. It does a lot for us and I can tell. I look around the guys faces and everybody is a little more upbeat now and I kept telling the guys last year, I was like, ‘Guys, we’re building for next year. Just hold on, we’re building for next year’ So far it’s definitely paid off. I’m glad we’re somewhat patient.”

zMAX Dragway’s Record Books Taken By Force

CONCORD, N.C. (April 29, 2023) — Brittany Force considers zMAX Dragway one of her favorite tracks. After Saturday’s record-shattering run in the Top Fuel qualifying portion of the Circle K NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, its place among Force’s favorites is even more secure.

Force’s run in the third of four time trial sessions set a track record in elapsed time, going 336.32 miles per hour in a scorching 3.651 seconds. The result: the 45th No. 1 qualifier honors of her sterling career, and the ideal result for a haul of points in Sunday’s eliminations.

“That was an incredible run,” Force said. “I think it was more than my team expected. We had three solid runs, three of the four, which gives us enough information to carry it over and hopefully go some rounds (Sunday).

“We’ve had success here in the past. I love this track. It’s tricky, going four-wide, but it makes our teams better.”

Alexis DeJoria led the way after Friday’s pair of Funny Car qualifying sessions, but Bob Tasca III raised the bar on Saturday.

Tasca’s 3.852-second, 324-mile-per-hour run did the trick, giving Tasca the inside line to his first victory of the season.

“We’ve been working hard to get this car ready to win races,” Tasca said. “What made us really happy on that run was that we never showed our hand. The car shut off at 920 feet, and it was crazy. I was wide-open throttle, the car felt like it was a rocket ship, but the reason it was only 324 mph was that it shut off right at the end.

“Every lane, running four-wide, is a little different. We’ve got a good baseline for (Sunday). We have a good hot weather setup, we have a good cool weather setup, and I like our chances.”

Matt Hartford usurped Cristian Cuadra’s top Pro Stock time from Friday, using a 6.538-second, 208.52-mph run to snare the top spot for Sunday’s eliminations.

“We went to bed last night really disappointed that we knew we had a car that was fast enough for the pole (but hadn’t gotten it),” Hartford said. “It was lucky for us that the car broke before we fired up. We thought, ‘Let’s just go out there and make a good run.’ We thought if it was a good run, it could be top-five and if it’s a great run, it could be the pole.

“This is a lot of fun. I’ve never been in this position before.”

Gaige Herrera bettered his provisional No. 1 qualifying run from Friday, earning his second consecutive Pro Stock Motorcycle No. 1 qualifier, with a 6.735-second, 201-mph pass.

“I’m very impressed with this bike,” Herrera said. “I can’t ask for anything better out of my team. We’re always trying to improve, basically outdo yourself each round. For us to improve during the day, after what we did last night, it’s a credit to the hard work from the guys on the team. It’s showing. It’s a lot of pressure to have a top-tier bike, because there’s more pressure on me than on the bike.”

Hart Sets The Top Fuel Pace AtCircle K NHRA 4-Wide Nationals

CONCORD, N.C. (April 28, 2023) — A hotly contested Friday of Circle K NHRA 4-Wide Nationals action at zMAX Dragway saw Josh Hart emerge with provisional No. 1 qualifier honors after two competitive rounds of Top Fuel time trials.

After Steve Torrence led the way in the first round of qualifying, Hart made his second run count, with a 3.689-second, 328.38-mile-per-hour pass to enter Saturday’s action with a shot at the first No. 1 qualifier honors of his career.

“The team deserves it,” Hart said. “(Crew Chief) Ron Douglas and the crew always give me a great car. It’s nice to finally hit that milestone where we demonstrate what we’re capable of. I learned a lot in the last (four-wide) race at Las Vegas. I’m just focusing harder and stronger than normal, and doing my job. Every day is a new start, but we’ve got a great car and a great team.”

Alexis DeJoria eclipsed Robert Hight’s Funny Car chart-topper from Q1, posting a 3.876-second, 333.08-mph pass on Friday night. DeJoria heads into Saturday going for her seventh career No. 1 qualifier.

“I’ve yet to win a four-wide race,” DeJoria said. “I hope (my time) holds up. God willing, we’ll stay in the No. 1 position tomorrow, then go some rounds on Sunday and hopefully end up in the winner’s circle. We’ve been working toward this, our current success, for a while. We’re really excited about how we’re running. Our car has been so consistent. It’s pretty much just up to me now.”

Cristian Cuadra dominated the first day of Pro Stock time trials, posting a 6.558-second, 208-mph run on Friday night. Cuadra paced all comers, including brothers David and Fernando Jr., and father Fernando.

“It means more (because) I am racing against my brothers and my dad,” Cuadra said. “When I started driving Pro Stock four years ago, my brother, David, was helping me. Now, he’s racing against me. I’m proud to be No. 1 and really happy to be here with my brothers and my dad.

“I love four-wide racing. It puts more pressure on the driver. If you focus on your lane, you still can do well.”

Gaige Herrera surged to the provisional No. 1 spot in Pro Stock Motorcycle with a 6.758-second, 201-mile-per-hour run. Herrera enters Saturday’s final rounds of qualifying chasing his second straight No. 1 qualifier honors.

“I was very thrilled, especially after Q1, when we had a little issue,” Herrera said. “To rebound from that and get to a 201, I couldn’t ask for any more than that. We’ve got another day tomorrow, two rounds of qualifying. Anyone can step up and take the spot.”

Saturday’s forecast features sun and clear skies for the final two rounds of qualifying.

    2023 CIRCLE K NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS
    zMAX DRAGWAY
    CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA
    April 28-30, 2023

DETROIT (April 26, 2023) – The fifth round of the 2023 NHRA season takes the Chevrolet Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock teams to zMax Dragway near Charlotte for the second of two four-wide events this year, the Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

John Force, driver of the BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car for John Force Racing, enters as the defender of both the No. 1 qualifier as well as event winner from 2022 where he set both the track record at 3.850-seconds and the track speed record at 335.07 mph. He takes to the track this weekend seeking his 156th career Funny Car Wally.

Joining Force in the Four-Wide Nationals Finals last year, teammate Robert Hight, driver of the Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Camaro SS, looks to return to the Winner’s Circle after his recent victory this year in Phoenix.

Chasing her 17th Top Fuel victory and 45th No. 1 qualifier, Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pac, enters this weekend with seasonal momentum on her side as she continues her drive for her third championship.

Austin Prock, driver of the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster, seeks to best his runner-up finish in Pomona 1 to capture his first win of the season and the fourth of his career at Charlotte.

Not in competition in 2022, Pro Stock returns to zMax Dragway this year, with KB Titan Racing’s Dallas Glenn entering his hometown race looking to three-peat after his victories at Pomona 1 and Las Vegas 1, the first four-wide event of the year. He currently seeks his seventh NHRA Wally in Pro Stock. A hometown event also for KB Titan Racing, located in nearby Mooresville, North Carolina, Greg Anderson, Camrie Caruso, Kyle Koretsky, Matt Hartford, and Deric Kramer all seek to capture a Pro Stock victory for the team.

Making their return to the dragstrip for the second FlexJet NHRA Factory Stock Showdown event of 2023, and their second event in a four-wide format in series history (the first in 2022 at zMAX Dragway), Chevrolet looks for a repeat win in the class in the COPO Camaro.

The 2023 Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals action from zMax Dragway airs first with Friday qualifying Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Saturday qualifying near Charlotte airs Sunday, April 29 at noon ET on FS1. Sunday’s Finals will also air on FS1, starting at 6 p.m. ET Sunday, April 30. Coverage streaming live throughout the weekend can be found through NHRA.tv, available via AppleTV, Android TV and Roku devices.

    WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“Heading to Charlotte, North Carolina next on the NHRA circuit. zMAX Dragway is another familiar track for this Flav-R-Pac / Monster Energy team. We’ve won in the past, 2016, and have a runner-up finish in 2021. We also hold both ends of the track record. We come into the event third in points which is a solid position. With all the changes we’ve made we are getting back on track and looking for the first win of the season.”

Austin Prock, driver of the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“This Montana Brand / RMT team is ready to get back at in Charlotte. I think what we learned in Vegas will us up nicely in the first qualifying session to make a clean run. Being able to drop the door and make a good hit right off the trailer really sets you up for the weekend and I know we’re capable of that. Hoping for some sunshine and win lights this weekend.”

John Force, driver of the BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“I love racing in Charlotte, zMAX is the Bellagio of drag strips, what a legacy for Bruton Smith. Danny Hood, Tim Fibrisi and the guys have built a fast hot rod and we’re ready to keep improving after putting together some solid runs in Vegas. We’ve had a lot of success here in the past and I’m excited to compete for another win for Chevy, PEAK, BlueDEF, Cornwell Tools, Frank Tiegs, Auto Club, and everyone who keeps me out here each week doing what I love.”

Robert Hight, driver of the Auto Club/Cornwell Tools Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“Our Flav-R-Pac team has had a couple of tough races lately. I’m looking forward to going back to zMAX, the Bellagio, for the Four-Wide this week. Charlotte is one of those tracks that we seem to have figured out and do well at. We’ve won here a few times and finished runner-up to John last season. We tested in Vegas last week and Jimmy Prock and the guys are ready to bring home our second Wally of the season.”

Dallas Glenn, driver of the RAD Torque Chevrolet Camaro SS in Pro Stock for KB Titan Racing:

“Our RAD Torque Systems Camaro is coming into this weekend at our home track feeling pretty great after going back-to-back the last two races on the NHRA circuit. My first Wally in Pro Stock was at the Charlotte four-wide two years ago and I’m ready to three-peat this weekend. We’ve got the car and the team behind me; we can do it.”

Dallas Glenn Earns Chevrolet’s 251st Pro Stock Victory in the Chevrolet Camaro SS, the 370th since 1970, With Brittany Force and John Force Racing to the Top Fuel and Funny Car Four-Wide Finals in Las Vegas

    • Dallas Glenn of KB Titan Racing races to his sixth NHRA victory, going back-to-back in Pro Stock after his Pomona 1 win two weeks ago.
    • Glenn earned Chevrolet their 251st victory in the Chevrolet Camaro SS and 370th since 1970.
    • Brittany Force (Top Fuel) and John Force (Funny Car) both raced to third in the Top Fuel Four-Wide finals.
    • Chevrolet was represented in all three pro category final rounds.
    • Brittany Force earned her 44th No. 1 qualifier Saturday, her second and back-to-back at the Las Vegas Four-Wide event, and her second of 2023.
    • Matt Hartford earned the No. 1 qualifier spot Saturday for KB Titan Racing, with teammate Dallas Glenn earning No. 2 and Aaron Stanfield earning No. 3.

LAS VEGAS (April 16, 2023) — With Chevrolet represented in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock final rounds at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it was Dallas Glenn, driver of the RAD Torque Chevrolet Camaro SS for KB Titan Racing, capturing the Wally for the Bowtie brand. Earning his sixth victory in Pro Stock while capturing back-to-back Wally trophies, Glenn continued to build on his strong 2023 season campaign. Additionally racing to the final round, Brittany Force, in her Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pack Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster, and John Force, in his BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car, of John Force Racing both raced to third, respectively, in the Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas.

“Going into this one, I knew I had to hit all of my shifts,” noted Glenn. “I’ve got an awesome car right here with KB Titan, RAD Torque Systems, Summit, and Silver State. This car is bad to the bone right here. You can’t get any better than this. There’s no way you can complain about a week like this with a car that’s running like mine. I want to capitalize on every bit of performance this car has right now.”

After going No. 1 for the 44th time, Brittany Force reflected on the weekend saying, “Vegas Four-Wide, it’s tricky, it’s tough. We only race the four-wides twice a year. There is a lot going on. There is a lot of prep, a lot of work this team has to do going into the weekend during qualifying then preparing and getting into race day.”

“Right now, I love this sport. I always have,” said John Force. “The support from not just my sponsors, Chevy, PEAK, BlueDEF, Cornwell Tools, Frank Tiegs, Auto Club, and my team, Danny Hood, Tim Fabrisi and my guys, but the other drivers, I know they may not very happy with me right now, but I’ve had drivers come up to me and they always tell me ‘You’ll be okay,’ and that matters to me. That keeps my head in the game. Because this game will beat you up bad and it beat me up pretty bad back in Pomona, so this is an improvement, this is a good sign and I’m looking forward to more.”

Up next for the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series is the second of two four-wide events, the Circle K NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30, 2023, at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte. Broadcast of Sunday’s eliminations will air live on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).

DALLAS GLENN – NHRA PRO STOCK WINNER PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT:

DALLAS GLENN, DRIVER OF THE RAD TORQUE CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FOR KB TITAN RACING ON HIS WIN AT LAS VEGAS:

“Four-Wide is definitely chaos. Even though I was definitely not the best today, I was just barely good enough to get it done and that’s what matters. In four-wide, you don’t have to win the first two, you just have to win the last one. Going into that final, I knew Christian (Cuadra) has been driving very, very, very well. I knew I was going to have to be good. I think (Troy Coughlin, Jr.) and I staged about the same time, and then I almost didn’t get my foot down. When I let go, I didn’t think I got that very good, and I’m just running through the gears, and it goes a little bit left and sounded a little weird kind of near the finish line, but my see the win light come on and start flashing. I was just super pumped up because I didn’t feel like I did my job best like I could have. Like I said, this car is just absolutely the best car I’ve been in by far. This car it, it definitely shows right here. I just want to capitalize on it as best I can. I was really excited to get the win here this week.”

AFTER WORKING WITH KB TITAN RACING FOR SO LONG AND PUTTING CARS INTO THE WINNER’S CIRCLE, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE, PUTTING THE HELMET ON, GOING TO THE STARTING LINE, YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN LITERALLY EVERY RACE?

“That’s one reason why I love drag racing. When I put the helmet on and shut the door, light it off, it’s all up to me. It doesn’t matter what anyone else has done, it’s up to me to do my job the best that I can, and that’s I love this sport.”

YOU HAD A WEEK OFF LAST WEEK. WHAT DID YOU DO?

“I went drag racing. We raced at the Spring Fling Million (at Las Vegas). Had a blast, went a few rounds and tried to win a lot of money. You know what I’m going to do (on my off week)? Probably go racing.”

YOU TALK ABOUT REDEMPTION AFTER LAST YEAR, AND IT EATS AT YOU FOR A FULL YEAR. WITH A WIN LIKE THAT, HOW SATISFYING IS IT TO MAKE AMENDS AND GET A WIN?

“Absolutely. I was feeling really good after Friday, starting the weekend off sitting in this (media center) chair. I got a kick in the pants there on Q4 where it kind of brought me back to last year. I went up there and I break a rocker arm basically as I’m staging. I was like ‘Okay, I just need to settle down a little bit and dig down and make sure I do everything good and pay attention to everything. It feels really good to show what this car is capable of right now. Other than I got a little bit lucky with Matt (Hartford) missing the tree a little bit because he’s driving very well and his car is very fast right now. I know what’s under the hood of that thing and I know he’s more than capable of kicking my butt any day. I want to keep this momentum going as long as I can.”

YOU CAME INTO THIS RACE WITH THE POINTS LEAD AND NOW YOU’VE EXTENDED IT. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU AND ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT THIS POINT OF THE SEASON?

“It’s a little too early to think about winning the championship at this point. All I’m going to do is focus on winning races; that’s the main goal at this point. Just take things one round at a time. I’ve always said if you take things one round at a time, and win every one you can and win races, the points kind of settle themselves out. I’ve got a long drive home from here. I still drive the truck, and it’s going to be probably bring a smile to my face every now and then that I think of it. I’m on top right now; that’s something new that I’ve never experienced. I’ve always been just hungry chasing somebody, now I’ve got to be fending off the wolves that are coming for me. It’s a little bit different of an experience, but I’m going to enjoy it as long as I can.”

YOU’VE GOT THIS NICKNAME AS DOUBLE-0 DALLAS. YOU’RE WINNING BACK-TO-BACK RACES, GETTING EVERYTHING YOU’VE WORKED FOR IN DRAG RACING. ARE YOU AFRAID OF LOSING IT? WHAT IS YOUR MINDSET AS YOU LIVE THIS PART OF YOUR LIFE?

“I’m definitely one of those examples of if you put your head down and work hard, you can pretty much achieve all your dreams. I’m definitely living my dream right now. There’s no doubt about that. These cars are so much fun to drive. Even when stuff isn’t going your way, they’re still so much fun to drive. I’m trying not to look too far, I’m just trying to enjoy the moment right now. There’s a lot of stuff going on that’s absolutely wonderful in my life right now. My wife is racing her (dragster), so I get to go hang out and be a crew guy at divisionals and not worrying about the driving part of it. I’m just absolutely having a blast with everything; everything is going right in my life right now and I am just wanting to enjoy it the best that I can.”

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING (TEAM CHEVY QUOTES):

Austin Prock, driver of the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“Pretty tough weekend, especially coming off a great weekend in Pomona, Calif. Really it just came down to not making a good hit in Q1. We got put behind the ball and struggled getting ahead of it. We will continue to progress and try and redeem ourselves in Charlotte. Looking forward to being at another one of Bruton’s beautiful facilities.”

Robert Hight, driver of the Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“Yeah, we’re struggling, you know even qualifying sixth with this Flav-R-Pac Camaro. When we left, it washed out a little. It’s a little greaser out there than we anticipated. I had to drive it right from the get-go. When it’s hot out like this and you’re having to drive one of these Funny Cars, they aren’t going to stay stuck.”

    Final Result: Race Winner

“We just have to keep working and keep working. All the glory goes to God. Never stop the faith and we’ve been working on some new programs. Brian, Mark, Brad have all been working hard along with all my guys. Matco Tools, SiriusXM, FVP coming on board, FDC Coffee – all these people came in and they believed in us. To get in the winner’s circle with all of our Matco distributors is great, but my wife is at home recovering from surgery. Love you baby. All of our families, we love you. And everyone at Toyota, thank you for that map. They told us the track was better so give a little more. She still cut off at the big end, but we were surging and when the light came on, I was like, ‘Wow, thank you God.’

STEVE TORRENCE, Capco Contractors Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Torrence Racing

    Final Result: Final Round

What happened on the starting line for round two that seemed to upset the quad?

“I just missed the tree up there and didn’t do my job. Got caught up in some kind of stupid game that was going on with somebody. Drag racing is drag racing and we do what we do. Everything that you do up there is within the rules. I don’t know what was going on. I caught myself blinking and saw the whole bulb was on and I looked at the time slips and everybody else did too obviously. We’re going to the finals and that’s a great job for the Capco Toyota dragster. We’ll do what we can do.”

STEVE TORRENCE, Capco Contractors Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Torrence Racing

    TF Qualifying Result: 2nd

How do you feel going into Sunday’s first four-wide of the season as number two qualifier?

“We’ve got confidence going into tomorrow. Today we were trying some things with what we did on Friday. I think that obviously it wasn’t the right direction and we didn’t make it down both runs. Not because we smoked the tires, but we had some issues in the engine. We’ll go back to our normal deal for tomorrow and have a good race car and hopefully carry some momentum. We’ve had a consistent race car all year. We kicked ourselves in Pomona in the second round, but these Capco Boys and this Toyota dragster, we can rebound pretty quick. That’s what we do. We just go out and race our race and try to get to the winner’s circle. Tomorrow is only three round and I feel confident we can with three of those in a row.”

ALEXIS DEJORIA, Bandero Tequila Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, DC Motorsports

    FC Qualifying Result: 2nd

How do you feel about your qualifying effort in Vegas as you prep for tomorrow’s race?

“Three out of four runs, made it down the track – 3.933s with a really consistent car. We always do well here in Vegas. It’s fun for us to come out here and we really like coming out here. It is hot out there, but we’ve gotten some really great points over the last three rounds of qualifying. That’s good. Didn’t get any taken away from crossing anything so we’re in the good side right now. Just excited for tomorrow. Hoping to get my first four-wide win for the team.”

J.R. TODD, DHL Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, Kalitta Motorsports

    FC Qualifying Result: DNQ

How will you look back at this weekend after the work it took to get this car on track and then not making the field to compete on Sunday?

“Definitely a forgettable weekend. I put the blame on me. I should have done a better job earlier in the weekend and keeping the thing in the groove and not come down to Q4 to get in the show. All in all, I feel bad for my guys., All the work they put in this past week to get this DHL GR Supra back on track. All the guys back at PBRC (Precision Built Race Cars) and everybody at Kalitta Motorsports and back at the fab shop for busting their ass to get us back out here. This is a tough pill to swallow, but I’m sure we’ll stay and run on Monday to get this thing figured out. It’s still early in the season and there’s a lot of racing left.”

What will you tell your team?

“I told these guys, I’m sorry. They deserve better than this and I wanted to get them a win this weekend. That’s the way I can pay them back.”

    2023 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals
The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
    Las Vegas, Nevada
    April 14-16, 2023

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway welcomes Chevrolet’s NHRA Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock drivers for the 2023 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, the fourth round of the season. The first of two four-wide events this year, and back-to-back, the Bowtie brand comes in as the defending winner in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock at Las Vegas.

Brittany Force, driver of the Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing, notes excitement while reflecting on past success in Las Vegas saying, “Heading to the first Four-Wide event of the season at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and we’re looking forward to returning to a track we’ve been successful in the past. We had a strong performance last season sweeping both events, the Four-Wide in the Spring and the Arizona nationals in the fall during the Countdown to the Championship,” said Force. “We’re back in our Monster Energy colors this weekend and are excited to turn things up with some exciting four-wide racing. There are more challenges but it’s definitely worth it when you end the day in the winner’s circle. The Strip at LVMS is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit and after a week off, I’m ready to chase down a Sin City win.”

In Pro Stock, Chevrolet, Elite Motorsports, and driver Erica Enders also enter this weekend’s four-wide event defending winners, looking to add to the 250 victories by the Bowtie brand after Dallas Glenn of KB Titan Racing raced to capture the Wally trophy at Pomona 1 two weeks ago. In 2022, Enders and her team swept Las Vegas both in the spring four-wide event and fall penultimate event.

The 2023 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals action from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway airs first with Friday qualifying on Saturday, April 14 at 9:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Saturday qualifying from Las Vegas airs Saturday, April 15 at 9:30 p.m. ET on FS1. Sunday’s Finals will also air on FS1, starting at 9:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 16. Coverage streaming live throughout the weekend can be found through NHRA.tv, available via AppleTV, Android TV, and Roku devices.

    WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Austin Prock, driver of the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“I’m ready to get going after coming of a great weekend in Pomona at the Winternationals. I know we’re all hungry to get back to racing on this Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team,” Prock said. “Winning in Las Vegas at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway has always been on my bucket list and maybe this weekend will be our time to shine.”

John Force, driver of the BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“Four-wide racing in Las Vegas, the perfect place to put on a show. I’ve had some success there, it’s a Bruton Smith track, but really, I’m just really ready to get back into my BlueDEF Chevy. The team, Danny Hood, Tim Fabrisi, Mac Savage, they’ve evaluated everything and looked over the car closely. We’ll be ready to race. Get things started with four qualifying rounds, make some clean runs and then see how things go on race day. I’m excited, though.”

Robert Hight, driver of the Auto Club/Cornwell Tools Flav-R-Pac Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“It was a bummer leaving Pomona, one of our team’s home race tracks, with a first-round loss. Then to have to wait two weeks to get back in the seat, it’s painful and not just for me. I know Jimmy Prock along with assistant crew chiefs Thomas Prock and Nate Hildahl and the whole team are anxious to get back to racing. This Flav-R-Pac team is definitely looking forward to Vegas and going four-wide racing. It’s exciting for the fans more than anything. We just need to focus and do what we know how to do.”

DALLAS GLENN EARNS CHEVROLET’S 250TH NHRA PRO STOCK WIN AND HIS FIFTH CAREER VICTORY AT POMONA

    • Dallas Glenn earned Chevrolet’s 369th win Pro Stock since 1970, the 250th in the Chevrolet Camaro.
    • Austin Prock raced to his eighth career final round, finishing runner-up in his fourth straight final round at Pomona.

POMONA, Calif. (April 2, 2023) – Under sunny Southern Californian skies at the In-N-Out Pomona Dragstrip, the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals saw Chevrolet racing to victory in Pro Stock once again this season, with Dallas Glenn in the RAD Torque Chevrolet Camaro SS capturing his fifth career NHRA victory in his ninth final round, Chevrolet’s 250th victory in the Camaro, and the 369th Pro Stock win since 1970.

“I looked over and he was right there,” said Glenn on racing his KB Titan Racing teammate Matt Hartford in the final round. “I knew he’s been outrunning me down the back, so I knew it was tight. It got real loose from 1,000 ft. on. It feels really good. I’ve never won here at Pomona. I’ve been in the final round once in Stock. This feels awesome right here. This is great.”

For Brittany Force, in the Flav-R-Pac/Monster Energy Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster, and John Force Racing teammate Austin Prock, in the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster, it came down to the semifinals facing each other to see who would move to the final round to face off for the win. With identical runs to the 60-foot mark, Prock got the win over B. Force after she smoked the tires mid-track, with Prock entering his fourth straight final round in Pomona versus Justin Ashley, finishing runner-up for the fourth time in his career on his run of 3.762 ET at 327.43 MPH.

Earning the second No. 1 qualifier of her young NHRA Pro Stock career, Camrie Caruso, in her Powerbuilt Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS, looked to kick off her Sunday strong, and raced to the semifinals until KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn, in his RAD Torque Chevrolet Camaro SS, knocked her out and raced to the finals to face teammate Matt Hartford. While Hartford beat Glenn off of the starting line in reaction time, Glenn powered to the finish line first to capture the Wally.

In Funny Car, both John Force Racing Chevrolet Funny Cars faced early ends to their race days, eliminated by their opponents in Round 1. John Force, who qualified No. 16 after an on-track incident in Q2 Saturday sent him to a backup BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car, looks to the upcoming NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for redemption. Robert Hight, in the Auto Club Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car, started the weekend with a strong run in qualifying to put him on the ladder in the No. 3 position. He next heads to Las Vegas’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals to potentially compete in his 400th NHRA Funny Car event.

Up next for the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series is the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Friday, April 14-Sunday, April 16, 2023, at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Broadcast of Sunday’s eliminations will air live on April 16 at 9:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1).

DALLAS GLENN – NHRA PRO STOCK WINNER PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT:

Dallas Glenn, driver of the RAD Torque Chevrolet Camaro SS for KB Titan Racing on his win at Pomona:

“I knew I hit the tree good, and then I instantly turned my stomach when I was looking at the Christmas tree. I think I put about a half of a turn in the wheel to the right, and I wasn’t sure if it was going to come back. I pulled third (gear) and it just kind of came back. I think I feel like I had to earn it on that one, but we came back. Dave Connolly and Rob Downing turned around and we made a really good run in the final.”

On getting the win at Pomona after finishing runner-up in 2010 in Stock:

“Oh, I really wanted it. I really wanted it when Jody (Lang) got me back then. Pomona has been up and down for me. Some years, I do really good and I come up just a little short in the semis, and some years, it’s just absolutely brutal to me. To finally get this win down feels really good. I’ve always wanted to win here.”

With Pro Stock being tough this year, everybody out there is brutal on race day…

“Absolutely. When you go in for the first run on Friday, you cannot leave anything on the table because if you slow down two-thousandths, you could lose six spots. It’s just so brutal. In between Phoenix and here, Doug at our shop made me a new clutch pedal and made tweaks to it, and I really like it.”

On the final round against KB Titan Racing teammate Matt Hartford…

“I don’t know if there’s too much of a difference here in lane choice right now. We’ve made good runs in both, and I think it was probably pretty even. I just made that one run in the semis in the right (lane), so I wasn’t scared of it. I knew they were going to make some changes and I knew the track was going to be good. Hartford had been getting me by a couple of thousandths all day, so I knew I needed to get him on the tree and I felt like I missed it but it felt really nice. I kind of crossed my fingers as I ran through the gears, and it definitely made a really good run.”

Dallas on recapping his Pomona 1 race day:

“It’s obviously a great long day, and any time I’m worn out at the end of the day, I’m pretty happy about it. It started off, I mean, I’ve got an absolutely great car right now, making small tweaks to it and just running really, really good. Really happy with it. It’s a different car from last year and I really like it. I’m really comfortable in it. I feel really good. Started off just making a nice clean run. Second round come up, and it was another nice clean run. I think Bo (Butner, III) shook, and I was just clicking them off making nice clean passes, hitting my shifts. Then I came up against Camrie (Caruso), and I know she really wants to beat me. She was double-0 on me last time, and I knew she would be good. I know she’s fast; she was the No. 1 qualifier. I just kind of did everything I could to absolutely murder the tree the best I could, and when it dropped green, it was really happy because it felt really good. Then it took a hard left on me and I didn’t know if I was going to get it back until about third gear and it kind of came back real nice. I ran through the gears, and then I took a glance over and I couldn’t see her, so I was pretty thankful about that. In the final, I feel I got real lucky that Rob Downing and Dave Connolly and Nate Van Wassenhove gave me a really good car for the final round. It went nice and straight; had a great 60-foot. Hit all of my shifts good. It was spinning a little bit through the lights, but we were good enough to hold on for the win. I don’t think Matt (Hartford) made the run that he wanted, and he was really good on the tree. I was a little nervous when I left on that one because I feel like I didn’t get it all.”

You are now the NHRA Pro Stock points leader for the first time in your career. How does that feel?

“That feels really good. Obviously, it’s early in the season, but you know points at the beginning of the season mean just as much as the points near the end of the season. It feels really good. I’m probably going to take a screenshot of that when the points come out so I can see it and save it. Hopefully, that ends the same at the end of the year.”

You’re still young in your career but you’ve had a lot of big wins. What do these continue to mean to you when you’re able to win at some of the legendary tracks?

“I’ve always wanted it here. I’ve done pretty good in Sportsman here and I’ve done pretty good in Sportsman but I’ve never been able to seal the deal so to do it in Pomona, we come here twice a year, so it’s been slightly frustrating to me. I’ll have a great car then all of a sudden, it shakes in the semifinals one year, or it just goes and shakes first round. There’s always little things going on. I knew I’ve had a really good race car. I feel like it’s been one tiny little thing that’s holding me up all season so far, and it all kind of came together today. We stayed and tested Monday in Phoenix and I think we figured out a lot of stuff. So it’s going to be a really good car for the rest of the season.”

You mentioned a different clutch pedal. Could you elaborate on what you did?

“I started off with kind of a shorter one, and then I kind of went a longer for Phoenix. I feel like I went a little over-center, so I met somewhere in the middle. The shape of it is slightly different, and it feels really, really comfortable on my foot. As far as stiff or soft, this is actually one of the first races I haven’t touched it the entire race. I kind of just kept everything the same. I knew from the first run when I went perfect on the tree I could hit it good when I needed to. Other than that, I’ve just been clicking them off making sure I do a good job staging, and just kind of clicking them off.”

That’s two wins in a row for KB Titan Racing. What’s different since the merger from your perspective?

“The Whitleys have been doing a phenomenal job. Not saying that Ken and Judy Black haven’t, they’re great, the absolutely greatest owners. They’re the nicest people I’ve ever met. We’ve been doing a lot more testing than we have in previous years. They’ve been working really, really hard. I know that last year kind of stung really bad, especially for Greg (Anderson). We’ve been working really hard back at the shop. A lot of new things coming. I think we’re going to be really good for the rest of the season. I feel like some of our performance that appears to be, I think, maybe the Elite (Motorsports) team might’ve fallen off just a little bit kind of like we did the previous year. So, I’m sure they’re going to get it back and the racing is going to get even tougher from here.”

Looking ahead to the Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas:

“I absolutely love Vegas. Me and that track usually get along. I’m really looking forward to the Four-Wide. I feel like last year, I kind of almost got robbed a little bit. I felt really good on the tree and I had the fastest car going into the final quad and a wire broke, then everything shut off in my car. I feel like I got robbed of a win on that one so I’m really looking for redemption on that.”

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING (TEAM CHEVY QUOTES):

Austin Prock, driver of the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“Really excellent points day for our Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist team. Really proud of these guys. It’s race three and they worked like champions today. We knocked out hitters in the first three rounds of eliminations and then we went head-to-head with one of the hottest cars in the class right now. We’re starting to hit our strides and I’m really excited about it.”

Brittany Force, driver of the Flav-R-Pack/Monster Energy Chevrolet Top Fuel dragster for John Force Racing:

“Overall a good weekend for this Flav-R-Pac team qualifying second and making a semifinal appearance. We’re qualified now in the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty challenge which is excellent for u because it means bonus points at the end of the regular season. We had this car running, made an awesome lap first round, made it to semis and it was our teammate Austin Prock that got around us. A good weekend and we’re looking forward to going to Vegas.”

Robert Hight, driver of the Auto Club Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“Not the day this Auto Club team was looking for. Really wanted to be in that winner’s circle for Auto Club. It’s how it goes sometimes. Bit of an unexpected day in Funny Car, but that’s drag racing, any day could be your day. We’ll bounce back, I’m not worried. We’ve already proven we know what we need to do and how to do it. I have all the confidence in my guys. Jimmy Prock with Thomas Prock and Nick Hildahl, they’ll be anxious to get back out again in Vegas. I know I am.”

John Force, driver of the BlueDEF Chevrolet Funny Car for John Force Racing:

“Tough weekend for this BlueDEF Chevy team. Tougher than we’ve had in a while. It will be okay though, it’s early, we’ll get it figured out, we’ll be okay. Robert with Auto Club, Flav-R-Pac, and Cornwell Tools already has a win, Brittany and that Flav-R-Pac / Monster Energy team is getting things figured out and Prock going to the finals with Montana Brand. It’s coming together.”

Greg Anderson, driver of the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro SS for KB Titan Racing:

“I rolled right through the lights. I put it on the wood, and she just kept on rolling. We’ve got a problem there we’ve got to figure out. It did it last night to a minor degree and I gave it extra line lock pressure this morning. It laughed at it; it just rolled right through the beams. One of those things. We’ve got to figure it out before the next race. I had a great car but another gremlin got us.”

JUSTIN ASHLEY GOES BACK-TO-BACK WITH ANOTHER WIN AT POMONA
Capps Makes Final Round Appearance in GR Supra Funny Car

POMONA, Calif. (April 2, 2023) – Justin Ashley drove his Toyota Top Fuel dragster to a second consecutive nation event win in Sunday’s NHRA event at In-N-Out Dragstrip in Pomona. Ashley claimed the number one qualifier position during Saturday’s qualifying session and went on to claim his second event win in the first three races of the 2023 season. It was also Ashley’s 10th consecutive win light.

The GR Supra of Ron Capps represented for Toyota in the final for Funny Cars on Sunday afternoon, but had to settle for a runner-up result to race-winner Matt Hagan.

The Kalitta Motorsports Funny Car team of J.R. Todd had a difficult weekend in Southern California. Their DHL GR Supra was involved in an incident on Saturday afternoon that resulted in the team having to go to a backup chassis and body for Sunday’s race. Then in Round One on Sunday morning, the car exploded toward the end of the run resulting in the loss of another chassis and body. Todd walked away from both incidents. The team will regroup and prepare for the next event in Las Vegas in two weeks.

    Final Result: Race Winner

How are you able to remain so focused during the race weekend and what does it mean to have turned on your 10th consecutive win light and go back-to-back with national wins?

“It becomes much easier when you have the kind of team that we do, I’ll tell you that much. It really takes an entire team effort from start to finish. Not only on the race weekends, but during the week and I mean on and off the racetrack. This car has been on absolute rails, and I think it’s now 10 straight win lights. One thing that I’ve learned, that’s one win light that you never get sick of looking at. Just really proud of our guys all day long. They brought the smarts to this Phillips Connect team. For everybody at National Debt Relief, Toyota, Kato, Matco Tools, Lucas Oil and all the guys that do such a great job supporting us. We are really going to enjoy this one.”

RON CAPPS, NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, Ron Capps Motorsports

    Final Result: Final Round

How would you evaluate your race weekend at Pomona with another final round appearance?

“Great weekend. It was almost a fantastic weekend. You hate to get that close. Qualifying, I said I really wasn’t worried, but to not be qualified going into one session to go and feel that type of pressure, which I told my NAPA Auto Parts team, that’s the same type of pressure I felt going into a World Championship on Sunday of last year. It’s the same type of pressure for different situations and it builds character of course. But I looked at my guys when I was sitting in the car and there was no way that they were even worried, which made me much calmer as a driver. To start from eighth and last pair, a lot of things that would have been obstacles for a lot of teams, I thrive in that moment with Guido and our team because they’re so good at adapting. As a driver, I feel so good driving this Toyota Supra. There’s nothing better than to know that they’re on top of everything and they’ve thought of everything and the car goes up and runs great every time and it just builds confidence. Two finals in a row. The car was out in front of (Matt) Hagan on that one and I thought we could hang onto it and I couldn’t keep it from going to the center lane. Definitely my fault. But we’ll go on to Vegas and I told Guido to download that same run into Vegas and we’ll start out the weekend great. We’re the defending champions of that event and I can’t wait to go back.”

ANTRON BROWN, Matco Tools Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, AB Motorsports

    Final Result: Semi-Finals

After making it to the semi-finals, how would you evaluate your race weekend overall?

“It was a good weekend here at Pomona for our Matco Tools team with Lucas Oil and Toyota and FVP and our great partners. We came out and qualified where we wanted to and that’s in the top five. We got the number four spot and felt good about it. We wanted to go for that number one spot on Saturday and had a few gremlins, but threw down first round with that 3.69 for low ET w/Brittany (Force) and a big mph. We ran big speeds all weekend. I’m super pumped and super happy with how this team is progressing. We made the semifinals after a tough first round race a week ago at Phoenix and made it into the Mission 2 Fast 2 Tasty (Challenge) at Joliet (Ill.) in May and we’re looking forward to (Las) Vegas in a few weeks. It’s a four-wide and we love those and so do the fans and our goal is to do well.”

J.R. TODD, DHL Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, Kalitta Motorsports

    Final Result: Round One

What did you experience from the cockpit with the explosion in Round One?

“Nowadays, the way we run these things, as soon as it spins the tires, you have to get off the throttle and I was too late doing that. As soon as I got off the throttle, there was stuff starting to fly in my face. Really just a bad weekend for us all in all. I hate it for my guys, they’ve been busting their asses. Going through what they went through yesterday, which didn’t need to happen and now to have this, just a lot of work that we have to get done before Las Vegas. That’s two chassis and obviously two bodies. I’m just at a loss for words.”

It’s been a difficult weekend for the DHL GR Supra Funny Car team with Saturday’s incident with John Force and now the explosion in Round One.

“If you knew a weekend like this was coming, you’d rather stay home,” Todd said. “More than anything, I just hate all the work that’s been created for all my guys – especially right before an off weekend. With all the work the DHL team’s been doing up to this point, my guys needed that off week badly. Now they have a ton more work to get done before we go to Las Vegas.

How was the DHL GR Supra running before the explosion?

“The DHL Toyota Supra was running ok early, and I didn’t see Alex Laughlin next to me. The next thing I knew, after it got down the track quite a ways, it started spinning the tires. I learned in the Gainesville (Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.) final that when it starts spinning like that, you gotta get out of the throttle as soon as possible. Sure enough, it happened in the first round today, and we saw what can happen. Looking back on it, I wish I could go back and lift sooner; if you do that, you’ll lose the round, but we would have come back with a race car and body instead a lot of extra work for these guys.

How will the team prepare for Las Vegas after losing two chassis and two bodies this weekend?

“We’ll see where we are this week with cars and parts. If I need to go to the shop in Ypsilanti (Ypsilanti, Mich.) or Brownsburg (Brownsburg, Ind.) to deliver parts and pieces, I’ll do whatever the DHL team needs; I just want to do anything I can to contribute on my end to get us ready for Las Vegas.”
