    Coleman and Telitz Take On 24H Barcelona with Optimum Motorsport

    DENVER, Colo., (September 9, 2024) – After several years competing together in GT4 sports car racing, longtime co-drivers Todd Coleman and Aaron Telitz will step up into GT3 racing with their entry into the 24H of Barcelona, September 13-15. Entering the prestigious event with Optimum Motorsport, they will be joined by Rob Megennis and Frederik Schandorff.

    Based in the United Kingdom, Optimum Motorsport is a championship-winning McLaren customer racing team, with a number of successes in their 13 years of racing. With titles in the Asian Le Mans series, IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, and GT World Challenge Europe, this group is already expected to make a strong showing in the endurance racing event.

    “It’s great to be back on the grid racing in the Hankook 24H Barcelona,” said Team Principal Shaun Goff. “The last time we raced in this specific Creventic event was with the Ginetta G55 GT4 back in 2015! This year’s race celebrates the 25th edition, and it’s set to be as competitive as ever with close to over 40 entries. We’re excited to have Todd, Aaron, and Rob onboard with us.     Now, in his sophomore season in IMSA’s Michelin Pilot Challenge series, Coleman has shown great progress in racing alongside his pro-ranked co-driver, Aaron Telitz. The American pair celebrated an impressive and well-deserved win earlier this year at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and followed it up with two more podiums in the races to follow.

    The third driver in the endurance lineup, American-British-Korean driver Rob Megennis first made his debut in sports car racing in 2020 and has since celebrated several podiums in GT4 and GT3 racing machinery. The 24-year-old has secured podium finishes at Petit Le Mans, bringing some endurance racing experience to add to Telitz’s experience in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

    Danish race car driver Frederik Schandorff rounds out the driver lineup, bringing with him his wealth of experience having raced in McLaren machinery since the end if 2021. He was a part of McLaren’s first-ever pole position at Le Mans this year, and has also celebrated two podiums in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship so far in 2024.

    Bowmanville, ONTARIO – September 3, 2024 – The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli displayed an all-class race of excitement this weekend as the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series competed among all TA classes for the 100-mile feature race. Damon Racing driver Tom Sheehan experienced challenges from the start – getting caught in mayhem on the early laps with contact from competitors.

    Currently sitting in second place in the Pro Am Championship standings, Sheehan and the No. 97 Vixen Cycle LTK Mustang were poised with momentum coming off a strong run at Watkins Glen last weekend. The positive mindset and focus are strengths of the Ironman and proves fruitful in adapting to challenges in this highly competitive series.

    “It was a great weekend, and the track is fantastic,” stated Tom Sheehan. “I would lobby the top levels of Trans Am to get back to Canada. It was a tough day for us. I was gathered up in some racing incidents by my peers early in the opening laps.”

    EVENT PREVIEW: Wright Motorsports Prepared for Battle at Barber

    BIRMINGHAM, AL., (September 3, 2024) — Eight years have passed since SRO America last held an event at Barber Motorsports Park and this weekend, the Fanatec GT World Challenge America returns to Birmingham, Alabama for the penultimate event of the 2024 season. The competition will intensify at the picturesque circuit as Wright Motorsports aims to keep a tight grasp on the PRO-class championship point lead with the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

    “It’s great to be returning back to Barber,” said Team Owner John Wright. “Not only is the facility beautiful, but it offers some great racing as well. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly everyone gets up to speed at a track we haven’t raced at in some years. We’ve had decent success here in the past. After our recent test here, we are ready to get down to business and hopefully keep growing that championship points lead.”

    Wright Motorsports has led the GT World Challenge America championship points battle since April’s opening rounds at Sonoma Raceway. Adam Adelson and Elliot Skeer’s consistent performance of podiums, supported by the team in pit lane, has led to a stellar season-long display of success and flawless execution.

    Barber presents an interesting opportunity to the competitors, many of whom have not raced here at the newest addition to the GT World Challenge America schedule. With just three races remaining in the 2024 championship, it will be crucial to get up to speed quickly on the new addition to maximize the weekend’s results. The 16-turn, 2.38-mile circuit holds special memories for Skeer, who was an attendee for the North American Porsche Young Driver Academy shootout in 2014, a vital step in his professional motorsport career.

    This weekend, the last doubleheader of the season will be held, followed by the championship-deciding double-points finale in Indianapolis 8 Hour, October 3-6.     Heartbreak at home for No. 81 Corvette in lone WEC American stop

    AUSTIN, Texas (September 1, 2024) – TF Sport’s Daniel Juncadella drove through the field and into the points as TF Sport’s No. 82 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R placed eighth in the LMGT3 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the end of Sunday’s Lone Star Le Mans six-hour race.

    The trio of factory driver Juncadella plus teammates Hiroshi Koizumi and Sebastien Baud finished in the class top-10 and scored points for the fourth time this season. After Koizumi started and Baud drove the middle stints of the race, Juncadella got in the Corvette with just under two-and-a-half hours left and 15th place in class. He carved his way through the field as the trio rebounded from two drive-through penalties.

    Juncadella’s race pace came as no surprise as he was the fastest driver in the final two practice sessions of the event.

    TF Sport’s No. 81 Corvette suffered the cruelest of luck as mid-race contact and its after-effects took the trio of Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy from contending for a podium and possible victory to out of the race with approximately one hour to go.

    Van Rompuy started fifth and quickly jumped into podium position inside the first 15 minutes. After his double-stint, Andrade climbed aboard and ran fifth due to the class pit stop cycle. Like his teammate, Andrade wasted no time in moving up and quickly grabbed second place before contact from the No. 85 Lamborghini damaged the left front bodywork of the Corvette.

    Following the driver change from Andrade to Eastwood – only minutes before Juncadella took over the sister Corvette – the real damage from the hit began to rear its head. The team was forced to bring the No. 81 into the garage to swap out the toe link, but additional problems continued to surface before the car was retired.

    TF Sport is back in action in two weeks at the Six Hours of Fuji from Fuji Speedway in Japan.

    TF SPORT POST-QUALIFYING DRIVER QUOTES

    DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 82 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It was clear that we were going to be very competitive today. I had no doubt that if I got in the car in the last two hours in contention for a top result that we would get it. Hiroshi surprised me in the first stint. That was very good from his side, but unfortunately the second one he struggled a bit more. We were only about 90 seconds down. Seb was competitive and I knew we could get some of it back. But we lost about 35 seconds on the stop because the door latch on the passenger side was stuck, so we went a lap down but he did well to get it back to show the amount of pace in the car. Then there were some penalties to lose some ground. Whenever I jump in the car, I take every race with the same approach and give 100 percent. There is always something to learn. I thoroughly enjoyed those two-and-a-half hours driving a really fast Corvette.”

    CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “This is one that slipped away, definitely. The Corvette has been incredible from FP1 all the way through. Unfortunately the contact Rui had from the Iron Dames popped the toe link out on the rear-left. The car was grabbing and things down the straight pretty badly, but we still had a pretty good pace even with it not being 60 percent right. We just tried a few things but it still wasn’t right. There was no point putting anything at risk and called it a day. It’s a shame.”

    TOM VAN ROMPUY, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Really frustrating. This is the best the car has felt this year. From the start, we had a really good car. I managed to pull up two positions to P3 and tried to stay close to P2 and P1 and kept them in sight. I did some energy savings to get the maximum out of our laps, so we gained a bit on that. I had to let one of the BMWs go because he was a Pro driver, but I managed to have a good fight with him before I let him go. I had a lot of fun out there.”

    No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R finishes fourth in 18-car Hypercar field at COTA

    AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 1, 2024) – After qualifying third Saturday for the Lone Star Le Mans, Alex Lynn took the opportunity for a motivational moment in the Cadillac Racing garage at Circuit of the Americas.

    “I said in the debrief to the team, ‘We’re good at having a good Saturday, well done, we’ve done it again, but let’s focus on banking a result tomorrow,’ ” he said following the 10-minute Hyperpole session. “That’s all we want … to nail a result on the table tomorrow night that we can be happy with, whether that’s P5, P6, a podium or a win. We need to execute tomorrow because so far this season we haven’t done that. We need a result we deserve on home turf.”

    Mission accomplished. Fourth place in the 18-car Hypercar field for the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Lynn and Earl Bamber in the steamy six-hour encounter was reward for the entire team’s efforts in the sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season.

    “I think we came home with a solid A result,” a sweat-soaked Lynn said following the last of 183 laps on the 3.426-mile, 20-turn course.

    The result is the best in a challenging and often frustrating second year of Hypercar competition. Fourth place in the opener in Qatar was vacated after FIA stewards ruled on a post-race technical infraction and other promising starts fizzled.

    Third place in the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2023 is the high-water mark for the Cadillac Racing program. Lynn and Bamber started that inaugural season with fourth place results at Sebring International Raceway and Portimao in Portugal.

    The No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R qualified third – the fourth consecutive race it has recorded a top four starting spot in Hyperpole — and Bamber started the late morning (CDT) race with the ambient temperature pushing 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Contact with the No. 35 Alpine in Turn 12 of Lap 1 dropped the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R to seventh in the 18-car running order, and Race Control handed the Alpine Hypercar a drive-thru penalty for causing the incident.

    The team quickly implemented an alternate pit stop strategy designed to return the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R to contention. Bamber and Lynn – the lone tandem among Hypercar competitors – traded driving duties on each pit stop, navigated traffic and were unscathed from further contact while the Chip Ganassi Racing-led crew performed flawlessly on each service stop.

    Following the final round of stops with under 54 minutes left, Lynn drew tantalizingly close to the third place-running No. 50 Ferrari AF Corse. But the restart after the third full-course caution of the race with 33 minutes left blunted his progress.

    The No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P became the sixth different Hypercar winner this season.

    The Lone Star Le Mans – the sixth round of the eight-race season — marked the WEC’s return to the racecourse after a three-year absence. The race was a fixture on the calendar from 2013-2017.

    Next up for Cadillac Racing is the Six Hours of Fuji on Sept. 15 at the 2.835-mile, 12-turn Fuji Speedway.

    Alex Lynn: “Our goal was a podium at home. That would have been our A-plus result. I think we came home with a solid A result. We finished only behind Ferrari and Toyota and we know they are very strong. To be P4 is a rally good day and we should be proud. It’s something to build upon 100 percent. We learn a lot and it was our first race where we could really work on the detail and dig into when we’re fighting for one-tenth every single lap what do I need in the car, etcetera. Just a solid day.”

    Earl Bamber: “I think it was a really good day. We managed to execute the race well and did the most we could. It would have been great to get P3, but we came home with a solid result. (Lap 1 incident) It wasn’t a huge bearing on the whole race. We were quite lucky. It could have been worse. We managed to survive, get a good, clean first stint and get through the rest. A solid result and I’m proud of everyone.”

    Crawford rebounds from unlucky qualifying to take two points-paying finishes at Monza

    MONZA, Italy (1 Sept. 2024) – Jak Crawford rebounded from an unlucky qualifying session to score a pair of points-paying finishes as the FIA Formula 2 Championship resumed at Monza following the summer break.

    The 19-year-old American Formula 1 prospect made big progress in both races, finishing sixth in Saturday’s Sprint Race after starting 13th, and then racing his way forward to take ninth in Sunday’s Feature Race after being gridded 14th in the DAMS Lucas Oil entry.

    “I’m pleased to score points in both races across the weekend and happy we could turn it around after a tricky Friday,” Crawford said. “The race pace was strong again on Saturday, allowing me to battle my way up to P6. On Sunday, we got unlucky pitting a lap before the Safety Car, meaning we lost a handful of places, but P9 was still a respectable result with a car that wasn’t nearly as good as Saturday.”

    Friday’s 30-minute qualifying was marred by a pair of red flags that negated his early laps and left him without a representative time. The session resumed with six minutes remaining, and Crawford managed to record a best time of 1:32.780-seconds in the final minute that put him 14th after he scored the fastest time in the final sector on his last lap.

    “We were just not very fast in qualifying, and the circumstances made it even more difficult to set up the car right,” he said. “We just missed on the car setup, and it was quite tricky for us.”

    Gridded 13th for the 21-lap Sprint Race, Crawford gained two positions at the start before being slowed by a safety car for a Lap 1 incident. When racing resumed, he quickly began picking off positions to move into the top 10. He took eighth with two laps remaining, took another position on the next lap, and sprinted to sixth at the checkered flag – taking the position by 0.101-seconds, just ahead of a dead-heat finish for seventh.

    “It was lots of fun,” Crawford said. “We made some good improvements on the car, and it was very positive. I was very fast and had a very fun race. At the end, I had a great final lap and I finished P6, a very good result, and I was happy with the race. It was an exciting race, from start to finish.”

    Sunday’s 30-lap Feature Race saw Crawford avoid chaos at the start to move from 14th to seventh in the first turn.

    “I had the perfect start,” he said. “Everything just opened up for me, and I was able to keep my car in a good place all the time. I felt like I was always in the right place at the right time.”

    Gaining two positions after the safety car restart, he moved to fifth on lap six when mandatory pit stops began. Crawford joined the top-five in pitting for their tire change on lap seven, returning to the track in 16th. Unfortunately, another full-course caution waved on the following lap, with most of the cars in front able to stop and come out of the pits ahead of the former lead pack.

    “That was very unfortunate timing,” he said. “If it stayed out one lap later, I could have been up with the leaders. But at the end of the day, that’s part of racing.”

    F2 returns to action in two weeks at Baku for races on Sept. 14-15. Then, there’s another break before the season ends with back-to-back events at Lusail in Qatar and Yas Island in United Arar Emirates on the first two weekend in December.

    “I’m excited for Baku,” Crawford said. “Anything can happen there, similar to Monza. You’ve got to keep your nose clean and have good straight-line speed. I’m happy to be back on a street circuit, and I’m looking forward to it.”

A native of Saint-Lazare, Quebec, Woods-Toth got his start karting next door at Mosport Karting Centre, and locked in the 2024 FR Americas driver’s championship title while at CTMP this weekend.

When the lights went out, Woods-Toth jumped to the point position with Sherlock tight on his gearbox. Behind them, Bowlsbey made his way around Bowling to claim third. The three exited Turn 3 side by side, when Sherlock wiggled causing a chain reaction and melee behind them.

    With Sherlock, Nicole Havrda (No. 6 Valley Kitchens Ltd / Colonial Countertops Ltd Ligier JS F3) and Anthony Autiello (No. 07 A Autiello Construction Co. Ligier JS F3) all running into trouble, the safety car was deployed to allow crews to retrieve Autiello’s car from the circuit. As they returned to green, Woods-Toth, Bowlsbey, Bowling, Landan Matriano Lim (No. 73 739Racing Ligier JS F3) and James Lawley (No. 77 Kartbahn Racing Ligier JS F3) all ran nose to tail. Woods-Toth dropped a wheel off the racing surface as they careened toward the restart line, but that didn’t slow his pace, as he once again took control of the race.

    With the second half still to be contested, Woods-Toth ran away from the pack, opening up a multi-second lead within just a few laps. Behind him, the race for second was heated, with less than a half-second separating second-place Bowlsbey and third-place Bowling. Bowlsbey repeatedly held off advances from Bowling, but everything changed on the final lap. Bowling drove deep into Turn 3 as Bowlsbey slid through the corner, allowing the two to pull wheel to wheel and race two-wide through Turn 4. Pulling ahead to complete the pass as they exited Turn 5, Bowling hit all his marks to lead Bowlsbey to the checkered flag.

    As they crossed the line, Woods-Toth held a 6.162-second advantage over Bowling in second and Bowlsbey in third.

    “What an amazing weekend,” said Woods-Toth from atop the podium. “It’s great to be at home with all my friends, family and all the fans here. We can see how full the paddock is this weekend with 20-30,000 spectators—this is awesome. Three wins out of three races, a clean sweep of the weekend, that’s perfect. I have good luck here at CTMP.     BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (September 1, 2024) – Daniel Quimby completed the weekend sweep in Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) competition at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), winning all three races of the CTMP SpeedTour weekend. With three additional wins added to his stats, Quimby (No. 24 Cruise America / MIR Raceline / FIJI Airways / GalvanizeIns Ligier JS F422) pulled within five and a half points of the championship lead heading into the season finale at Circuit of The Americas in October.

    Notes of Interest:

    • Daniel Quimby now leads all F4 U.S. drivers with five wins during the 2024 season.
    • Connor Roberts finished on the podium in all three races at CTMP. Paired with a win during the final race of the weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park last month, Roberts has four consecutive podiums.
    • Nicolas Stati continues to hold the points lead going into the season finale after recording nine podiums, including a third-place finish in today’s Race 3.
    • Canada-based Atlantic Racing Team swept the weekend with their driver Daniel Quimby. The organization is the only Canadian team in F4 U.S., based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
    • F4 U.S. has now competed twice at CTMP and both weekends resulted in weekend sweeps. When visiting the circuit in 2017, now-INDYCAR driver Kyle Kirkwood swept the weekend, while Daniel Quimby swept the 2024 events.
    • Daniel Quimby was awarded the Omologato Perfectly-Timed Move of the Race in recognition of his outstanding performance this weekend. As part of the recognition, he was awarded a bespoke Omologato timepiece.
    • Leading every lap this weekend, Quimby once again brought the field to the green flag at CTMP on Sunday morning. With a clean jump as the flag waved, Quimby took control of the race before the field reached Turn 1. Alex Crosbie (No. 41 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) lined up second, while Nicolas Stati (No. 15 AGI Sport Ligier JS F422) and Connor Roberts (No. 46 ApexSpeed.com / Entropy Cellars Ligier JS F422) filled the second row. Of the four drivers Roberts was the only one on fresh Hankook slicks, which required a bit of extra patience while they dialed in. Meanwhile, Stati was able to make his way around Crosbie overtaking the second position. A lap later, Roberts found his way around Crosbie, but the three continued to race nose to gearbox while Quimby drove away from the pack.

    With Quimby approximately four seconds ahead, the battle for second was down to Stati and Roberts, as the duo pulled away from Crosbie. Just before the race’s halfway point, Roberts was able to complete the pass for second, overtaking Stati around the outside of Turn 8. Then, Crosbie started to apply pressure to Stati in an attempt to overtake third. Stati locked up the brakes while racing through Turn 10 to complete lap 13, which allowed Crosbie to complete the pass and claim the third position. The battle wasn’t over just yet, as the two raced within a few tenths the entire second half of the event. With eight minutes left on the clock, Stati was able to make his way back around Crosbie, setting the two up for a race to the checkered flag.

    With Quimby and Roberts playing their own game of cat and mouse out front, Stati and Crosbie engaged in battle. As they crossed the line, Quimby led Roberts by 3.643 seconds, while Stati and Crosbie crossed the line side by side, with Stati edging Crosbie by just 0.158 seconds for the third and final podium position.

Atlantic [Racing Team] did a great job; the car’s been awesome.     Daniel Quimby Wins F4 U.S. Race 1 at CTMP

    BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 31, 2024) – Daniel Quimby won the first race of the weekend for Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Saturday morning. After rain showers soaked the track early this morning, Quimby (No. 24 Cruise America / MIR Raceline / FIJI Airways / GalvanizeIns Ligier JS F422) overcame challenging track conditions to earn his third win of the 2024 season.

    Notes of Interest:

    • Today’s race marked the first time in seven years that F4 U.S. has raced on Canadian soil. During the last F4 U.S. weekend at CTMP, now-INDYCAR driver Kyle Kirkwood swept all three events.
    • Daniel Quimby earned his third win and sixth podium of the season with today’s finish at CTMP.
    • Nicolas Stati’s second-place result marks his eighth podium of the season—he’s finished on the podium in all but one race this season.
    • After winning the series’ most recent race at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Connor Roberts returned to the podium with a third-place result.
    • Three teams were represented on this morning’s podium with Nova Scotia-based Atlantic Racing Team claiming the win, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport finishing second and Team Roberts Racing taking third.
    • With a drying circuit, drivers and teams were given the choice to select between treaded Hankook wets or racing slicks before heading out on track as the first race group of the day. Three formation laps allowed drivers to observe track conditions before the green flag waved. Quimby got a solid start to pull ahead of second-place qualifier Nicolas Stati (No. 15 AGI Sport Ligier JS F422) before they reached Turn 1. Fourth-place qualifier Alex Crosbie (No. 41 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) suffered a mechanical issue during the formation laps, allowing Barrett Wolfe (No. 13 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) and Lincoln Day (No. 54 MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) to both climb in the running order when the green flag waved. However, a spin and continue by Day relegated him in the field, as Wolfe moved into fourth. Minutes later, the safety car was deployed for a full-course caution when Wolfe made light contact with the Turn 10 tire barrier. Unable to restart the race before time ran out, Quimby led the field across the finish line with Stati behind him in second and Connor Roberts (No. 46 ApexSpeed.com / Entropy Cellars Ligier JS F422) in third.

    “It was a tricky race this morning,” said Quimby after the race. “Track conditions were tough. It was pretty damp, and it can be hard to pick up where the grip is around the track. It was a quick race, but hopefully we’ll get a good run in this afternoon.     BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 31, 2024) – Daniel Quimby took the victory in a thrilling Race 2 for Formula 4 United States Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (F4 U.S.) at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Saturday afternoon. Overtaking the leader just minutes into the race, Quimby (No. 24 Cruise America / MIR Raceline / FIJI Airways / GalvanizeIns Ligier JS F422) opened over a 13-second lead enroute to the checkered flag in a race that stayed green from flag to flag.

    Notes of Interest:

    • Daniel Quimby earned his fourth win of the year, and second of the weekend, while leading the field to the checkered flag in Race 2 at CTMP.
    • Connor Roberts continued his streak of three-straight podiums, finishing second in Race 2 at CTMP.
    • Alex Crosbie started the race in last, but drove through the field to capture his fifth podium of the season with a third-place result.
    • Atlantic Racing Team claimed their second win of the day; the Halifax, Nova Scotia-based team is the only F4 U.S. team based in Canada.
    • With three drivers competing in the 2024 F4 U.S. Championship season, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport has been represented on all 10 podiums this year.
    • Setting the fast lap in Race 1 this morning, Nicolas Stati (No. 15 AGI Sport Ligier JS F422) led the field down the starting grid with Quimby lined up to the outside. Jumping out front as soon as the green flag waved, Stati took command of the race. However, with Quimby and Connor Roberts (No. 46 ApexSpeed.com / Entropy Cellars Ligier JS F422) tight on his gearbox, the three raced around the circuit with less than three-tenths separating them as they completed the first lap. While they battled up front, Alex Crosbie (No. 41 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) was on the move at the back of the field, moving up to fourth from his sixth-place starting position within the first two laps of the race. As they completed the fourth lap, Stati made a mistake racing through Turn 10, which allowed Quimby to make a move around the outside and overtake the lead. With Quimby crossing the line just 0.295-seconds ahead of Stati, Stati soon had his mirrors full of Roberts’ machine, with Roberts completing the pass for second the very next lap.

    Opening up a 2.273-second gap before they made it back to the start/finish line, Quimby never looked back as he ultimately opened more than a 13-second lead. Meanwhile, Roberts started to fall into his rhythm in the runner-up position. Behind him, Crosbie was chasing down Stati with the intention of overtaking third. Completing the pass just after the race’s halfway point, Crosbie turned his focus to Roberts, but was unable to complete the pass before the checkered flag waved.

    As they crossed the finish line, Quimby led, with Roberts in second and Crosbie in third.

    “It was a tough race,” said Quimby after climbing from the car. “We got to cut a couple more laps than this morning, which was nice. The car was good; obviously, we had new tires that race. I was trying to save my tires at the beginning, so I sat behind him for a little bit. I think I managed my tires a bit better than I think he did. Once I passed him, I was able to control the race from there and got to save a bit of tire for tomorrow.”

    BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (August 31, 2024) – Patrick Woods-Toth clinched the 2024 title for Formula Regional Americas Championship presented by Mosport Karting Centre (FR Americas). Driving to victory lane in Race 2 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on Saturday, Woods-Toth once again led from lights to checkers in an all-green race.

    Notes of Interest:

    • With just another 75 points available between today’s Race 2 and the final checkered flag of the season, Patrick Woods-Toth needed to leave Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with at least a 50-point lead. After today’s win, the 20-year-old has clinched the 2024 FR Americas championship, making him the first driver in five years to win back-to-back championships in Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) and FR Americas.
    • Three drivers have now won back-to-back titles in F4 U.S. and FR Americas – INDYCAR driver Kyle Kirkwood, sportscar racer Dakota Dickerson and Patrick Woods-Toth.
    • Titus Sherlock recorded his seventh podium of the season with his runner-up finish.
    • Jett Bowling stood on the podium for the sixth time this year after finishing third in today’s race.
    • James Lawley recorded a career-best finish in his home country of Canada after finishing fourth in Round 16 on Saturday.
    • With his sixth-place result, Ricco Shlaimoun recorded his career-best finish. Previously, his best finish was seventh, recorded twice at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
    • Another Canadian, Kevin Janzen, tied his career-best finish with his seventh-place result. Previously, Janzen finished seventh in Round 2 at NOLA Motorsports Park during the 2023 season.
    • For the seventh time this season, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport swept the podium with all three drivers competing for the Dallas-based organization.
    • After setting the fastest lap in yesterday’s race, Woods-Toth (No. 27 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) led the field down the starting grid and got a clean jump when the lights went out to take control of the race. Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) had lined up in second and fell in behind Woods-Toth, with Jett Bowling (No. 02 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) settling into third, just a few car lengths behind. Behind them, Halifax, Nova Scotia-native James Lawley (No. 77 Kartbahn Racing Ligier JS F3) had climbed to fourth after the fourth- and fifth-place qualifiers Landan Matriano Lim (No. 73 739Racing Ligier JS F3) and Hayden Bowlsbey (No. 22 Save22 Ligier JS F3) were sidelined by mechanical issues. Also climbing in the running order were Ricco Shlaimoun (No. 25 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), Nicole Havrda (No. 6 Valley Kitchens Ltd / Colonial Countertops Ltd Ligier JS F3) and Kevin Janzen (No. 24 US Power Group / Data Center Solutions Ligier JS F3). Havrda pulled ahead on the initial start to overtake fifth, while Shlaimoun and Janzen engaged in a tight battle just behind her. Janzen initially held the position throughout the first half of the race, but as the clock ticked down, Shlaimoun pulled ahead to overtake sixth and claim his career-best finish.

    When they took the checkered flag, Woods-Toth led the field across the finish line, with Sherlock in second and Bowling in third.

    “What an amazing feeling, especially here at home with all my family, my friends, all the fans,” said Woods-Toth following the race. “There couldn’t be a better place to finish this off. What a season it’s been; I’m so glad we’ve come away with the championship. We wouldn’t be here without Orlando—Carlo is our number one supporter—so thank you to them, as well as Ron Fellows and his family.
