  • Huge Gains For Thorndyke In Season Opener

Huge Gains For Thorndyke In Season Opener

David Thorndyke put his auto racing savvy on display in the first race of 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire season at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

After some testing that provided valuable insight, Thorndyke and his crew were hopeful for a solid opening contest at the Vortex Brake Pads 200 on Sunday. However, qualifying didn’t quite go their way, causing the #67 Lubesource/ Thorsons EVT Chevrolet to line up at the back of the field.

“With the cautions during the qualifying period we just didn’t get our tires up to temperature so we wound up at the back,” Thorndyke explained later.

Once the race kicked off, Thorndyke put the less than desirable qualifying time behind him and focused on his strategy for the main event. #67 made an interesting decision to conserve his tires for the entire race, utilizing his skill to carefully make passes for position while not abusing the vehicle’s tires.

“We knew to make this work I had to be patient and manage the tires,” he said.

Action was plentiful in the early going. #67 made significant gains in the field and pitted early on with the rest of the front-runners for fuel. Thorndyke continued to expertly navigate the Chevrolet through the pack, eventually gaining an admirable 14 positions and crossing the finish line in 14th place.

“There isn’t a mark on the race car, we were competitive, I made some passes and had a good day, we’re thrilled” said the driver David Thorndyke.

“The team worked really hard and it took us a while to fine tune the car but I knew when we got it right we’d be really good – and we were” said Crew Chief Adam Thorndyke

David Thorndyke and the #67 LubeSource/Thorsons EVT Chevrolet team will return to action Labour Day weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for round number ten of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.  For more NASCAR Canadian Tire Series information log ontohttp://hometracks.nascar.com and to learn more about the #67 LubeSource Chevy team go towww.promotiveracing.com

  • Jason White Runs Strong In Season Opener

Jason White Runs Strong In Season Opener

Jason White was thrilled for the inaugural race of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Sunday, but the day dealt him a handful of obstacles to tackle behind the wheel of his #21 Bowers & Wilkins Dodge prepared by DJK Racing.

White was feeling confident about his vehicle early in qualifying, the Dodge handled well at a steady pace. However, #21 was caught by surprise as he burned up an electrical line in the vehicle, cutting his session short with smoke under the hood. Despite the electrical malfunction, White still managed to register the second-fastest time in his qualifying group.

#21 lined up for the Vortex Brake Pads 200 in 15th place, and ran solidly through the early going. He established his strategy early on, purposefully pitting only for fuel and reserving his stop for fresh tires later in the race. White moved steadily through the pack, pushing as high as 3rd place.

“What a hotrod we had running up there as high as second for a while,” White said after the race. “We wanted to wait to take tires to keep our momentum strong.”

The contest was shaping up quite well for White towards the end. He made his calculated stop for tires during the late caution period and was in position for a very good finish.

“I think I had the freshest tires and the cautions fell where we needed them to,” he said.

But things went south for #21 quickly, as #47 brake checked the field on a restart and White made significant contact with neighboring vehicles, resulting in damaged body work. #21 was still able to finish the race, soldiering through the remaining laps and finishing the race right where he started – 15th place.

“I don’t know if it was “brain fade or what.  It’s disappointing NASCAR didn’t penalize the culprit,” White said later. “It took out some good cars with that move including mine.”

Regardless of the day’s challenges, White says he’s excited to be back behind the wheel and looks forward to the next race, June 15 at Delaware Speedway near London, ON.

  • Dowler Scores Top Ten In Season Opener

Dowler Scores Top Ten In Season Opener

Sherwood Park, Alberta’s Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge team demonstrated that hard work pays off in round number one of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire series this past weekend.  Following months of hard work in the off season the team also dealt with adversity during the race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and battled hard to record an eighth place finish.

The #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge performed well during the Saturday practice sessions posting lap times just outside the top ten.  In qualifying Dowler was able to record a very respectable 12th starting spot on the grid but felt he should have done better.  “I was a little disappointed in qualifying” said Dowler.  “I know there is even more speed in the car than we showed”.

When the green flag flew for the race Sunday afternoon fans at the track and watching live on television at home saw the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge running strong and consistent competitive laps all afternoon.  “The car was really fast and handling beautifully all day” said Dowler.  “I was pretty confident we had the opportunity for a really good day” he added.

As the race laps ticked off Dowler was in position for an excellent result.  “Our strategy was working well for us, we made our fuel stop early and were waiting to take tires late and all looked good” said the driver.

Following a caution period fortunes looked to be changing dramatically for the #5 EMCO/Rheem Dodge team.  Dowler sustained contact as cars bunched up on the restart doing severe body damage to the car.  “I was pretty upset at that point but this team didn’t give up one bit” explained Dowler.  “Our new Crew Chief Bud Roy had the guys make repairs to our ripped up race car and got me back out so hats off to them for some great work”.

With temporary repairs made Dowler looked to salvage all he could in the closing laps and the 20 year old battled his way back up to eighth position at the finish.  “The #5 #EMCO/Rheem Dodge was better than where we finished but to come out with an eighth place finish says a lot about this team.  They did a great job today and I’m really excited and think we’re going to have a really good season” said Dowler.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series consists of 12 events from coast to coast in Canada.  The next event is Saturday June 15 at Delaware Speedway near London, ON.   For more information about Noel Dowler and the #5 EMCO Dodge/Rheem team log ontowww.apollomotorsports.ca and follow him on twitter, @noeldowler.

  • Short Day For Steckly At Season Opener

Short Day For Steckly At Season Opener

Bowmanville, ON:  Scott Steckly driver of the 22 Racing/Canadian Tire Dodge started the Pinty’s presents the Vortex Brake Pads 200 from the third starting position but a crash into the turn three wall took them out early and a 24th place finish was the result.

Steckly who held the track record here going into the race weekend from his 2012 qualifying effort, practiced and qualified third quickest of the 28 car field on Saturday the first event of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. “We found a couple of things we didn’t like with the car after qualifying and think with these changes we should be good to run up front all day tomorrow,” explained Steckly after qualifying.

When the green flag dropped on Sunday for the 200 km, 51 lap event, Steckly quickly fell into line behind leader J.R. Fitzpatrick and Steckly teammate L.P. Dumoulin.  These three drivers opened up a large gap from the rest of the field.  A short time later Fitzpatrick dropped off the pace leaving the teammates first and second.  Steckly was able to lead a lap, then ducked down pit road for fuel, a strategy the team hoped would set them up to challenge for the win at the end of the day.  Upon returning to the track, two turns later Steckly felt something wrong and the car just veered off the track and into the wall, bringing their promising day to an early end.

“I still do not know what happened out there,” said a disappointed veteran racer Steckly after leaving the medical care center.  “The car just took off and I am not sure if I hit a patch of oil or something broke but it was a hard hit.  But on a positive note Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is an incredible facility and every time we come here there are more improvements.  I can’t wait to be back in September.”

CTV, Canada’s most-watched television network broadcast the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season opener for the first time live from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Sunday, May 19.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team is the Emco 200 at Delaware Speedway.  Steckly has posted two second place finishes in the only two events held here in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in 2011 and 2012.

Scott Steckly and the 22 Racing Team is supported by the following sponsors:  Canadian Tire, Sylvania, Mobil 1, Erb Group, and Johnsonville & AW Millwrights.

  • Dumoulin Snags First NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Career Win

Dumoulin Snags First NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Career Win

Road Course Ace Gets Off To Fast Start In ‘13

BOWMANVILLE, Ont. (May 19, 2013) – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin won the Pinty’s presents the Vortex Brake Pads 200 on Sunday in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 action at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Dumoulin, out of Trois-Rivieres, Que., handled all comers on the 2.459-mile road course to pick up his first series career win while leading a race-high 32 laps. The 2011 series rookie of the year had a previous best finish of second last season in his hometown the event – the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres.

After leading four laps early Dumoulin bided his time behind the wheel of his No. 47 WeatherTech.ca/Bellemare Dodge while everyone cycled through pit stops for tires and fuel. He took the lead from fellow Quebecer Martin Roy on Lap 24 and was out front for the rest of the 51-lap affair.

“I’m really proud of my team and the car was great all weekend,” said Dumoulin. “My crew chief Tyler Case was on top of everything and making sure we made the right decisions. We’re really happy to get out first win.”

In three of the six seasons in series history the winner of the season opener has gone on to win the points championship. However, Dumoulin is in just his second full season of Canadian Tire Series competition and the road course specialist will need to prove his mettle on the eight oval track events on the schedule this season.

“I learned quite a bit last year on the ovals, but it’s pretty tough to beat some of these guys,” he said. “This is a good win and we’ll continue to build on it.”

Runner-up Jeff Lapcevich seemed to be within striking distance after taking the white flag, but a bobble in Turn 1 effectively ended his challenge. The result equaled his best series finish established in 2009 at Riverside International Speedway in Antigonish, N.S., and helped raise the spirits of the Lapcevich Racing team after Lapcevich’s father passed away unexpectedly in early April.

“Everything with my dad really set us back,” he said. “I wasn’t even sure we were going to come here and I told the team to get everything ready just a couple of weeks ago. They’ve worked extremely hard and I appreciate it.”

On the final lap the veteran Lapcevich tried some gamesmanship to get past Dumoulin.

“I thought maybe I could rattle him, but I just ended up rattling myself,” said the pilot of the No. 76 Tim Hortons Dodge out of Grimsby, Ont. “After that it was over. He would have had to have done something really wrong for me to catch him.”

Jason Hathaway finished third and scored his best Canadian Tire Motorsport Park finish in seven starts on the road course.

“We put a lot of emphasis on our road course program over the offseason and it certainly paid off in running up front most of the day,” Hathaway said.

Defending series champion D.J. Kennington and Robin Buck in fourth and fifth, respectively and Kerry Micks, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Ty Dillon, Noel Dowler, Trevor Seibert and Brad Graham rounded out the top-10 finishers.

Dillon gained some valuable experience on the track that will host its first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Pole sitter J.R. Fitzpatrick broke a drive shaft early on and finished a disappointing 27th in the 28-car field. He set a track record in Saturday’s qualifying and led the race’s first six laps before the untimely mechanical difficulty.

The race lead was exchanged six times among six drivers while the action was slowed due to caution three times for 13 laps.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 is back in action next on Saturday, June 15 for the EMCO 200 at Delaware (Ont.) Speedway.

  • Bobby Tolton Fights Mechanical Issues in OSCAAR Modified Debut

Bobby Tolton Fights Mechanical Issues in OSCAAR Modified Debut

Bobby Tolton would fight mechanical issues throughout the night in his OSCAAR Modified debut on his way to finishing 10th.

In the first heat, he would go around in turn two and wouldn’t finish the heat due to overheating issues.

In the second heat, he would go around again on lap five as overheating issues continued.

Those issues would be repaired before the feature and Tolton would start the feature near the back.

His problems would continue as he would spin in turn two on lap five to bring out the first caution. Following another spin three laps later, Tolton pulled his modified behind the wall and called it a night.

It was discovered after the race that the sway bar had come apart and the right rear shock had come off.

Tolton and team plan to work the bugs out before the next race at Barrie Speedway on June 15th.

  • OSCAAR Modifieds: Gary McLean Takes North Toronto Auctions Opener

OSCAAR Modifieds: Gary McLean Takes North Toronto Auctions Opener

By Clayton Johns (@cjohnsmedia) – Stroud, Ont. – Gary McLean (#8 McLean Industrial Design Chevrolet) led the final 18 laps of the North Toronto Auctions 30 to earn his first victory of 2013 on the OSCAAR Modified tour.

McLean took the lead from Matt Barton (#2 MDB Racecars Chevrolet) on a lap 12 restart, and never looked back.

“I love this track. The guys did a super good job of making the car fast,” said Gary McLean. “We didn’t have any practice (before today).”

A pair of heat race wins earned McLean the top-qualifier spot for the redraw process, where he pulled the pole starting position.

Barton, who started third, took the lead from McLean on a lap six restart, using a power move on the outside line of the speedway. He would lead for six laps, until another caution with 12 in the books would put the pair side-by-side once again.

“We were kind of hoping that if we finished mid-pack we would be okay,” said Barton. “We’ll take this. I said on the radio during one caution ‘do you realise we just led laps?’. They told me to get my head back in to the game.”

The difference may have been McLean’s four fresh Hoosiers for the feature, while Barton bolted his on at the start of the night.

The first caution of the night came on lap five when Bobby Tolton (#13 Eloquip/Engines From Hal/Amsoil/California Dave’s Chevrolet) spun in turn one. Tolton had trouble with that end of the race track all night, spinning twice in turn two through the heat races.

It was on this restart that Barton got the better of McLean for the lead.

Caution would fly again on lap 10 as Tolton went around on the backstretch. He would park his car for the night, frustrated by a multitude of different problems. Tolton battled high engine temperatures and a temperamental rad hose all night long.

The race would run green for the final twenty laps. McLean took the lead on lap 12 from Barton, eventually running away, despite an impressive attempt from Barton to retake the lead.

The real battle would be for the second spot between Barton, Davey Terry (#14 Wasteco/Brennan Haulage Toyota) and Brent McLean (#7 Bowmanville Home Building Centre/Pro FX Signs Chevrolet).

The trio engaged in a 15-lap battle for the final two spots on the podium. Barton held down the second spot over Brent McLean with Terry in third. The group approached lap traffic with ten to go. Brent moved to the outside of Barton with a lapped car in sight, pinching the #2 down behind the slower car.

“Gary and I saved our tires for the feature and it sure paid off in the last ten laps,” said Brent McLean. “I used the lapped car as a pic. That’s what you’ve got to do. When they make a mistake, you’ve got to capitalize right away or the opportunity’s gone.”

“Brent just did a better job reading it than me,” said Barton.

“It’s great to see these guys putting on a challenge,” said Gary McLean. “We’re doing it for fun, that’s the whole deal. Hopefully we can get another half-dozen or so of those guys every week.”

Barton would be forced back to third, but was able to fend off Terry for the remaining five laps to earn the final spot on the podium. David McCullough (#39M Oaks Auto Chevrolet) rounded out the top-five.

Despite a strong run in both heat races, Lane Zardo (#34 Chevrolet) would suffer a DNF in his first OSCAAR modified start, ending his day with five laps remaining.

Heat race winners included Gary McLean (2), Matt Barton, and DaveyTerry.

The OSCAAR Modified tour is back in action in a month’s time at Barrie Speedway on June 15, and will be joined by the OSCAAR Super Late Models.

    News and Notes

Despite making a long haul from Southwestern Ontario, Rob Fennema (#22 Dodge) was unable to start a heat race or the feature due to a malfunctioning starter. Fennema was the only driver to compete with a Dodge engine and, as a result, no other driver had the required part.

Ryan Dick attempted his first career OSCAAR Modified start on Sunday as well. Unfortunately for the #88 team, it didn’t go as planned as he hit the inside wall in his second heat, damaging the left front suspension.

A number of cars are expected to be ready for round two of the 2013 tour, including Chuck Marsh, Max Beyore, Mike Ford, Mike Westwood, Steve Smith, Monty Kelly, and Brian McLean.

Results: North Toronto Auctions 30 (Sunset Speedway  – May 19, 2013) (Starting Position in Parentheses)

  • Sean Cronan Finishes 20th in OSCAAR Debut at Sunset Speedway

Sean Cronan Finishes 20th in OSCAAR Debut at Sunset Speedway

After running inside the top 10, Sean Cronan was forced down pit side and out of the race early due to mechanical issues.

Cronan would start his heat in fifth and move up one position to finish fourth. In the second heat, he would start second and battle for the lead with Derrike Tiemersma, before finishing third.

As a result of his heat finishes, he would start the feature in 11th. Cronan would escape the wreck on the second lap without damage, though would head down pit road for the crew to work on the car. As a result, he would restart the race at the back of the field.

By the second caution for Dwayne Baker having problems, Cronan would be up to the 12th position. He would then move up to ninth by the third caution for Jim Bowman having problems. However, under this caution, he would come down pit road and be done for tonight.

The Cronan Motorsports crew will be working on the car and figuring out these issues before the next race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on June 1st.

  • OSCAAR Super Late Models: Brandon Watson Wins Lucie Aylwin Memorial 51

OSCAAR Super Late Models: Brandon Watson Wins Lucie Aylwin Memorial 51

By Clayton Johns (@cjohnsmedia) – Stroud, Ont. – Brandon Watson (#9 Shear/Barrie Frame and Alignment/Knightworks Design Chevrolet) led all 51 laps of the Lucie Aylwin Memorial presented by North Toronto Auctions at Sunset Speedway en route to victory in the 2013 OSCAAR Super Late Model season opener.

Starting from the pole, Brandon fended off multiple challenges from Derrick Tiemersma (#7 Wayfreight/Spira Chevrolet) and Uncle Glenn Watson (#22 Line-X/Race2way.ca/Rival Office Solutions Chevrolet) to begin the defense of his 2012 championship title.

“It was amazing. The crew did a great job to get the car here. It was great all night, right out of the trailer,” said Watson.

Brandon led by as much as two seconds over Tiemersma during a 32-lap green flag run from lap nine to 41.

Glenn Watson would finish second after using a final restart with eight laps remaining to get by second place runner Tiemersma, who would wind up third.

The 21-car field was slowed for caution six times, including two red flags. The first caution, and subsequent first red flag, came with just one lap complete as Rob Clarke (#49 London Mechanical/JBM Leasing/FLF Racecars Chevrolet) was turned on the backstretch by Shane Maginnis (#03 Budds GMC Chevrolet).

The two were running near the front of the field, and a number of drivers stacked up as a result, including Ethan Courneyea (#71c Jenco Equipment Chevrolet) who ended the incident with the front of his car resting on the hood of John Owen’s #2 (Owen Performance/DVR Masonry Chevrolet). The red flag was displayed as officials lifted Courneyea’s car from Owen’s front end. Both were able to continue.

Charlie Gallant (#40P South Shore Services Chevrolet) was also collected in the mess, his second set of misfortune on the evening, ending his night. Jim Bowman (#63 TMG Mortgages/Remax/Hanover Holidays Chevrolet) was tagged as well in the wreck and did continue before retiring on lap 21.

The second caution of the night came on lap four when Dwayne Baker (#48 Baker Performance Parts Ford) stopped in turn four with a flat right front tire.

Caution came out once more with nine complete for debris before 32 laps of consecutive green flag action. The top-five of Brandon Watson, Tiemersma, Jesse Kennedy (#10 Cameron Crane/Bev’s Auto/Quality Collision Ford), Glenn Watson, and Rob Poole (#45 Visser Farms/Alliston Auto Sales/RA Electrical Chevrolet) maintained their order for the duration of the run.

The real battle was for the seventh spot, between Clarke, Baker, and Maginnis. The trio ran nose to tail and side-by-side for much of the interval, until Maginnis spun in turn four with 41 laps complete. Maginnis appeared to have an oil line break, leading to the spin.

As a result, Maginnis laid oil all the way around the race track, forcing officials to red flag the race again while track crews cleaned up.

On the ensuing restart with ten to go, Brandon surprised many by choosing the outside line for the restart. He made it work to his advantage, despite having to try the restart twice after Tiemersma jumped early on the first attempt.

“I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do coming to the ‘double-up’ sign,” said Brandon. “My car was starting to get tight from the centre and off, so I thought I would be able to keep my momentum on the outside better.”

“The crew left it up to me. It’s a good thing I made the right decision,” joked Brandon.

Jesse Kennedy surrendered his third-place position just prior to the green to change a right-front tire that had gone soft.

The final caution with eight to go came as Gary Passer (#13 Jenco Equipment Chevrolet) got mixed up in turn four, but escaped unscathed. Kennedy ended his night with eight to go, after he lost oil pressure following the restart.

“I noticed just before we took the white the right-front seemed soft,” said Kennedy. “We lost oil pressure. Not sure what that’s about yet, but we’ll try to fix ‘er up and come back next time.”

Clarke would also fail to finish as he lost power under caution on the front stretch and was taken off on the hook.

Brandon chose the outside line for the final restart as well. Tiemersma appeared to spin the tires, allowing fourth-place runner Glenn Watson to make a pass for second on the outside.

Rookie Kevin Cornelius (#17 Halton Crushed Stone/Lee Sand & Gravel/Triplecrete Pontiac) had restarted third, but was pinched behind Tiemersma, falling to fourth. Dealing with a misfire throughout the night, the problem would rear its ugly head in the closing laps as Cornelius fell to seventh.

“On the last restart, I tried to dial some more front break in to it, but my adjuster jammed up, so I had a ton of rear-break going in to the turn on the high-side,” said Cornelius, “it just got away from me.”

Glenn Watson didn’t appear to have anything for nephew Brandon in the closing laps, as the twenty-year-old held on for the first victory of 2013.

Klotz Synthetics Qualifying Heat race winners were Brandon Watson (#9), Rob Clarke (#49), Shane Maginnis (#03), Jesse Kennedy (#10), Glenn Watson (#22), and Derrick Tiemersma (#7).

The OSCAAR Super Late Models are back in action in two weeks on Saturday June 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) for round two of the 2013 tour.

    News & Notes

After two wrecks on opening night, Charlie Gallant is expected to miss the series next event at CTMP on June 1.

Despite heavy body damage to start the year, Jim Bowman has said his team will return to action at CTMP, likely with a new body on the car.

After a strong showing in his first ever Super Late Model heat, Brent McLean missed the feature due to an oil pump issue that could not be resolved at the track.

George Wilson, driving for Shane Gowan to start the year, was pitside following the first caution due to a broken drive shaft. The team was able to repair it on pit road in order to finish the race, but three laps down.

Andrew Gresel ran a template body late model to start the season. His outlaw bodied car was not ready to start the season, but he has said it will be finished for CTMP. Cole Powell was the only other driver to run a template body.

Kevin Cornelius Finishes Seventh in OSCAAR Debut

Kevin Cornelius would have a successful debut in the OSCAAR Super Late Models, finishing seventh in the Lucie Alywin Memorial 51 presented by North Toronto Auctions at Sunset Speedway.

Starting seventh in the first heat, Cornelius would move up two spots to finish fifth.

He would start second in the second heat and lead a couple of laps before finishing third behind Glenn Watson and Rob Clarke.

As a result of his heat finishes, Cornelius would start 12th in the feature.

On the first lap of the feature, contact near the front of the field would cause the field to bottle up and a wreck to ensure. Cornelius managed to squeeze by, barely, and move up a couple positions.

A second caution would come out on lap four for Dwayne Baker having a flat tire and by then, Cornelius had worked his way up to sixth. A couple laps after the restart, he passed Rob Poole to crack the top five.

The third caution would come out on lap eight for Jim Bowman having problems. Shortly after the restart, Poole would get back by Cornelius, though Cornelius would once again pass Poole back before the forth caution for Shane Maginnis going around. Under that caution, Jesse Kennedy would pit for a flat tire, bumping Cornelius up to fourth.

Following the fifth caution for Kennedy spinning, Cornelius would get by Glenn Watson for third. However, with the car getting completely sideways through turns three and four with six laps to go, Cornelius would slip back to seventh position.

“Just glad it’s over, really,” Cornelius said afterwards. “There were a lot of questions going into tonight. I got to be honest with you – we started out today, I had a lot of butterflies and a lot of nervous energy. Started to question whether I made the right decision to move up to OSCAAR, but just talked to Jesse Kennedy a bit and Dwayne Baker, Glenn Watson and Rob Poole and just got more comfortable as the night went on. Kind of hoping for a top five, but came out with a top 10 so should be happy with that.”

Also, huge thanks to Mike McColl and McColl Racing Enterprises for their support this weekend, too.

The next race for the OSCAAR Super Late Models is on June 1st at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

“Really haven’t thought about that yet,” Cornelius said. “Just kind of elated that we’re through tonight and we’re in one piece, the body is still all on it and we showed that we belonged here and answered a lot of questions that I had coming into it. I haven’t started looking forward yet; in a couple weeks we’ll deal with that.”
