  • UP AND DOWN WEEKEND FOR ISABELLE TREMBLAY & MARTIN ROY

UP AND DOWN WEEKEND FOR ISABELLE TREMBLAY & MARTIN ROY

August 18, 2012.  It was a special feeling for Martin Roy driver of the #90 Batteries Expert/Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge and teammate Isabelle Tremblay pilot of the #07 Frank Lyman Design Dodge as they began weekend competition for round nine of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.  With the event taking place on the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, plenty of supporters were on hand to cheer on both competitors.

Both Martin and Isabelle battled through some mechanical issues during practice though both were confident prior to the qualifying session for the race.  “There were some brake and suspension adjustments we had to make for the #90 car” said Martin Roy.  “It was better in qualifying and we managed a 10th starting spot” he added.

“The team also made the decision to change transmission for my #07 car” explained Tremblay.

Unfortunately when Tremblay took to the track for qualifying in her #07 Frank Lyman Design Dodge fluid was leaking from the transmission.  She quickly returned to pit lane for repairs, however NASCAR officials would not allow her to return to the track and she was unable to post a qualifying time.  Tremblay was not granted a provisional starting position and thus forced to miss the race.

“I was incredibly disappointed in the decision when told by NASCAR” said Tremblay.  “This team has been getting stronger all season and our fans have been so wonderful and amazing.  This race was the highlight of the season for our fans and for Frank Lyman Designs.  While I’m very upset about what took place the support and love we’ve felt from everyone here at the track and all of our appearances this week has been very heartwarming” she stated.

The 100km race began well for Martin Roy in the #90 as he hovered around the top ten.  Things however would take a turn for the worse.  “I was running my race, trying to be smart and have a good finish” he explained.  “Then not once but twice during the race I wind up getting hit and turned around, it was very frustrating”.

Though bumped out of the battle a couple of times, Roy persevered.  He would hustle his #90 as best he could and the result was a hard fought 12th place finish.  “I worked as hard as I could” said Roy.  “We managed to get back up close to the top ten.  I definitely feel we had a better car than we were able to show today”.

The next race on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule is September 8th at Barrie Speedway, north of Barrie, ON.

  • SOLID POINTS DAY FOR JASON WHITE IN MONTREAL

SOLID POINTS DAY FOR JASON WHITE IN MONTREAL

August 18, 2012. Montreal, Que. – Jason White fought hard through a rough ride on the road course at the NAPA Autopro 100 on Saturday at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve behind the wheel of his #21 Bowers & Wilkins at Futureshop Dodge.

White and his team kicked off the weekend with a smooth practice. #21 ran good laps before qualifying, overcoming a few minor issues that popped up along the way. They worked hard to prepare for qualifying, ended up earning the 16th starting position for the race.

As the main event kicked off, White felt he had a strong vehicle – but other cars around him posed a problem.

“Anybody that’s been in the series for a while is patient,” he said later. “But some of the drivers that only run a few races were impatient and it was ridiculous.”

Once the field settled in after a period of unnecessary bumping, White battled hard. He found himself matched up with #90, generating fun racing by going side-by-side for a handful of corners.

#21 fought for every inch of the 100-kilometer race, eventually coming in 13th, up three spots from his starting position.

“I’m really proud of the whole Bowers & Wilkins team and the DJK racing team, they did a great job this weekend,” White said after the race. “I like road racing but I’m looking forward to getting back to the ovals.”

After today’s race, Jason White is ranked #8 overall in the NASCAR Canadian Tire standings with 281 points.

Jason White and the #21 Dodge team will compete in the entire 2012 NCATS schedule that will take the team from coast to coast in Canada for the 12 events.  Next on the schedule; teams head to Barrie Speedway near Barrie, ON September 8th.  For the latest news about Jason White and the #21 Dodge team check out the team website at www.jasonwhiteracing.com and be sure to follow Jason on twitter for the latest updates @racinjasonwhite  You can get more information about the NCATS series at www.hometracks.nascar.com

  • BUCK SCORES PODIUM FINISH IN MONTREAL

BUCK SCORES PODIUM FINISH IN MONTREAL

August 18 2012.  Robin Buck and the #66 Quaker State Dodge team came to the final road course event of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series year looking for another strong result.  Buck was never far from the top of the time sheets during any on track session and battled his way to a podium finish in the race that took place on the famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Ile Notre Dame.

From the opening practice session Buck and the team took a methodical approach to the weekend with the #66 Quaker State Dodge.  They worked to improve the car and know that a successful result would be because of a strong handling car at the end of the 100km race.

During qualifying Buck maneuvered the #66 Quaker State Dodge smartly to a sixth starting spot.  “That’s a good result for us” he stated afterwards.  “I never really pushed the car too hard, just enough so that we’d have a good starting spot near the front” he explained.

For the main event Saturday Buck was again patient at the beginning.  The #66 Quaker State Dodge stayed in touch with the leaders and in position to strike in the late stages of the race.  Following a late race caution period Buck found himself in third position for the final restart.

“We got up to third where I wanted to be and had plenty of brakes left and you could tell the #27 and #84 were going to go hard at it and I’d be right there looking for an opening” he explained.

When the race restarted it appeared Buck’s plan would play out however before he could make a move in the #66 Quaker State Dodge the caution waved again and the race finished under caution.  He would come home in third.

“I would have liked to have one more chance to make a move but I’m not going to complain about our day at all” said Buck.  “The car was really strong all day it just didn’t quite play out in the end.”

This was the final road course event of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this season and brings to an end the run of the #66 Quaker State Dodge.  “It was nice to finish here with a podium” said Buck.  “We had a couple of tough breaks earlier in the year but we showed our potential here today.  I want to thank everyone at Quaker State for all their support this season and I look forward to getting back into action again next season” he added.

Robin Buck competed in all five road course races on the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule picking up three top ten finishes including a podium finish in Montreal.  Race fans will be able to watch all of the remaining three oval track races of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in High Definition on TSN.  Check local listings for times.

  • Jesse Little Joins Coulter Motorsports K&N Pro Series East Team

Jesse Little Joins Coulter Motorsports K&N Pro Series East Team

Sherrills Ford, N.C. (August 17, 2012)-Third generation NASCAR driver, Jesse Little, has been signed to drive for Coulter Motorsports in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. The high school sophomore will make his debut on Labor Day weekend at the historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway as the half-mile hosts the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140.

Little has made selected starts in the series in 2012 including Richmond International Raceway in April where he became the youngest driver to ever take the green flag in NASCAR’s premier development series. Posting an 11th place finish in the Blue Ox 100 gave Little his highest finish in his brief K&N Pro Series career.

While the focus will be on the upcoming Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 140 at Greenville-Pickens, Little will be building for a run towards the 2013 K&N Pro Series East championship and Rookie of the Year honors, he explained.

“I like to set high goals for myself. I feel personal goals should be difficult to attain, something you have to work very hard for. My goals next year are to qualify well for each race, top-10 at most races and on the pole at two events. In addition my goals are to finish every race, including the top-10 at most events and the top-five in five of the races on the schedule. We will also focus as a team on building towards winning my first K&N Pro Series event in my first full-season of competition.”

Leading Little’s team at Coulter Motorsports is Kris Bowen, a veteran crew member of the organization.

“Jesse Little is a proven racer who I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with,” Bowen said. “He has excelled at every level to date and I know with our (Coulter Motorsports) guidance and mentoring Jesse will be a strong force in the NASCAR K&N Series. Our racing family grew with the addition of Jesse and his family and we look forward to developing his young career.”

Little has had Bowen’s leadership in the past and sees a reuniting of the pair as a positive step towards his entry into full-time K&N Pro Series competition, he added.

“I’ve known Kris Bowen for many years. He helped me when I first started Limited Late Models and he works closely with Harold Holly, who has also been a big part of my growth as a NASCAR driver. This is a good opportunity for me and I’m excited to run all of the K&N Series East events the remainder of this season and into the future with this team. Coulter Motorsports have won on many racing circuits including the ARCA Racing Series and I want to bring them a victory on NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series.”

With confidence in the team and his ability to compete at any level, Little was a natural choice to join Coulter Motorsports, according to team owner Joe Coulter.

“Coulter Motorsports is pleased to welcome Jesse Little into our driver development program,” Coulter said. “Jesse is an esteemed young racer who has proven to deliver himself maturely not only on the track but in life itself. He and his family are a natural fit and a welcomed addition to our NASCAR K&N Pro Series stable. We look forward to taking Jesse to the track and the success that follows.”

Little will continue to race out of the Team Little Racing shop with his NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late model as time allows. The late model experience gained since joining the series in 2010 has been beneficial to Little’s approach to racing on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, he explained.

“Racing on the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series has given me experience in the heavier and bigger cars from where I started in Legends and Midgets. This year I’ve learned a lot about how to save a car and how to make sure you’re around at the end of a race to finish strong. I’ve also learned that if the car’s handling is off on a given day then take what the car will give you, try different lines and see if it helps. Most importantly I have gained the knowledge that you need to finish races to learn and be better for the next event.”

Fans can get the latest news on Jesse Little Racing through the world-wide web at jesselittle.com or at Jesse Little Racing on Facebook. • 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion & Rookie Of The Year, Derrick Griffin Joins Chad Finley Racing

2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion & Rookie Of The Year, Derrick Griffin Joins Chad Finley Racing

[media-credit name=”Chad Finley PR” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]DeWitt, Michigan (Friday, August 10th, 2012):  Chad Finley Racing is very pleased to announce the addition of 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion & Rookie of the Year, Derrick Griffin to the CFR organization. The South Bend, Indiana standout will serve as Interim Crew Chief for CFR’s primary driver, 20-year-old Chad Finley for the remainder of the 2012 racing season.

“We are very honored that Derrick has come on board to help us out for the rest of the 2012 race season. Chad and I have known Derrick and his father since 2001 when we raced Go-Karts in the WKA (World Karting Association) series.” CFR Car Owner Jeff Finley said. “They are a great family with a tremendous background in motorsports.” He added.

Griffin comes into the CFR camp armed with credentials including his Championship & Freshman titles in the ARCA/CRA Super Series a season ago. “Derrick’s Championships last year speak for themselves. His knowledge he acquired from working with Bobby Blount over the last several years warrants this opportunity.” Finley explained. “Mike (Staszak) and I feel in our never ending pursuit to win races and be a contender week in and week out that Derrick can assist us with those goals.” Finley continued.

Former Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith has stepped away from CFR in order to pursue other opportunities within the Motorsports Industry. “There are simply not enough words to express our sincere thanks to Jimmy D. and his family. He helped us build CFR to what it is today.” Finley added. “Together we got many top fives in 2011 and we captured our first Win and two Fast Qualifier Awards this year. This is the part of the business that is very hard for Mike and I. He possesses a tremendous amount of talent and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.” He stated.

As for the racing on the track, it was another doubleheader weekend for Chad Finley and the Chad Finley Racing Team on Friday & Saturday, August 3-4th as on Friday,August 3rd at Dixie Motor Speedway, located south of Saginaw in Birch Run, Michigan hosted the ARCA/CRA Super Series in the running of the Mid-Michigan Toyota Dealers / Draper 125.

The 125-lap main co-headlined “Big One X” with the Winged Sprint Cars of the Auto Value Super Sprints Series. “We had a decent run there. We struggled all night fighting a loose race car. It was a handful in the race.” Chad Finley remarked. “I think that’s the hardest I’ve had to drive all year to hang on to it. To bring the car home fourth was a good day to say the least.”

Then on Saturday, August 4th, a trip to Berlin Raceway, located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 10th race for The Berlin 100 Presented by JEGS.com & Boyne Machine Company was on the agenda for the CFR team.

“We just missed it at Berlin. We just could never get the grip we were looking for.” The younger Finley continued. “We tightened it up more before qualifying and it was snug. But then it got super loose again in the race to where I could barely hang on to it. So I felt we should park it before I wrecked it.” The 20-year-old driver from DeWitt, Michigan ended”

10 races into the JEGS/CRA season, Finley has recorded one event win, the first of his career in CRA, which came back on May 26th in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio. His win is part of his three top fives and five top 10 showings which all tie in with his first career Boyne Machine Fast Qualifier Award, which came at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana last weekend. Heading into Berlin, Finley is fifth in the season long title chase.

The 20-year-old Finley is amongst the all-time leaders in most statistical categories in the second year JEGS/CRA tour as he is currently tied for second all-time in career top five, tied for the most career top 10 finishes, fifth all-time in career laps led, tied for third all-time in career appearances, and second all-time in career laps completed.

  • Clint King Returns to ARCA Short Track Action at Berlin Speedway with Local Sponsor; Speedrack Products Group

Clint King Returns to ARCA Short Track Action at Berlin Speedway with Local Sponsor; Speedrack Products Group

Concord, NC (August 08, 2012) — Sixteen-year old rookie driver, Clint King will be back behind the wheel for Venturini Motorsports this weekend when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards returns to Berlin Speedway in Marne, Michigan to compete in the annual ARCA 200 presented by the Hanz Group. Although just a part-time driver for Venturini Motorsports over the past two seasons, King’s demeanor and success on the track can be compared more to a veteran driver than that of a sixteen-year old rookie.

A legitimate contender, King made a grand entrance onto the ARCA scene last year by earning back-to-back pole awards in his first two series starts (Madison/Salem) becoming the youngest pole sitter in ARCA history. In just seven series starts King has already claimed (3) top-5 and (4) top-10 finishes to-go along with his 2-pole awards.

Grabbing the attention of Michigan based, Speedrack Products Group, King’s No.15 Venturini Toyota will feature the company as his primary sponsor as he pursues his goal of becoming the youngest winner in ARCA Racing history.   “We’ve had the fortune to follow Clint’s career from the beginning. His continual growth on and off the track has been impressive and a contributing factor in our decision to take this first step with the development of a motorsports marketing campaign. We feel the time is right to position ourselves with Clint and his bright future,” said Speedrack spokesperson, Kim Erickson.

Practice for the ARCA 200-lap race will take place Saturday, August 11th from 2-2:45 and 3:15-4, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 5 p.m.

ARCA Racing Series drivers will participate in an autograph session – open to all fans – at 6:15. The race will start at 8:30pm EST and can be heard live on ARCA Radio by accessing arcaracing.com.

  • Josh Williams Motorsports Embracing Berlin Raceway Debut

Josh Williams Motorsports Embracing Berlin Raceway Debut

MARNE, Michigan (August 9, 2012) – –  Recently turned 19-year old Josh Williams (@Josh02Williams) and his Josh Williams Motorsports (JWM) team are hoping for a chance of luck as they steer their flagship towards Berlin (Mich.) Raceway for Saturday night’s Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz.

Last weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, the team’s chances for a strong finish were thwarted just three laps into the 50-lap shootout as they struggled to gain fuel pressure into their No. 02 Southwest Florida Cable Construction Ford Fusion. After dropping to as deep as 33rd during the 14th race of the season – the team was able to solider on to a noteworthy recovery of 21st.

Returning to short tracks, the family-owned team hopes to continue their consistency on the smaller tracks but more importantly surge their Concord, North Carolina-based team back into the top-10 for the fourth time this season.

“I’ll be honest, we don’t know a lot about Berlin, but we’re ready to go,” said Williams. “It’s another challenge and this team is all about conquering challenges. There’s no doubt that we’ve faced challenges this year – but I’m ready to get back to some short track racing on Saturday night. I’ve been told what to expect this weekend as far as the track conditions and layout – so it will be a learning experience – but I’m hoping it will be a positive one for sure.”

For the fourth time in five races, the JWM team will rely on the car nicknamed “Bertha” as their car of choice for competition for the 15th race of the year. Previously, the team has raced this blue oval at Iowa Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway and most recently at Lucas Oil Raceway two weeks ago. Noted as one of the best machines in their fleet, Williams is hoping that “Bertha” can live up to her expectations this weekend.

“Over the years, we’ve put a lot of work into her (“Bertha”),” said Williams. “We’ve raced her a lot here lately – but that’s a good thing. We haven’t had the finishes to show what we feel the car is capable of showing, so I’m hoping with a little luck we can change that with a good run this weekend.”

Currently idling 12th in the ARCA Racing Series championship point standings and with the intent to run the remaining six races left on the tour, the team is still hopeful that come Kansas Speedway in October – Williams will be fighting for a top-10 spot in the overall championship contest.

“I think everyone would be surprised if they knew what we’ve gone through to try and run this year without hardly any sponsorship. We’re trying all the time, but it’s still a tough market out there. If we can run to the end and finish inside the top-10, it will be a great boost for this team.”

After 14 races, JWM has competed in 13 of them and unofficially occupies a respectable 12th in the championship standings, just 30 markers from 11th. This season, the team has amounted three top-10 finishes including a season best of ninth at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and 10th at the treacherous Winchester (Ind.) Speedway and Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. An 11th place qualifying run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in June is the team’s best time trials effort to date thus far.

The Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz(200 laps / 88 miles) is the 15th of 20 events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 25th ARCA race at Berlin is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, August 11 with a forty-five minute practice session planned from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. A final practice is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag under the lights shortly after 8:30 p.m.  The race will not be televised but additional coverage including a radio broadcast and timing and scoring will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local (Eastern).

  • Brennan Poole Riding Momentum Surges back on-top of ARCA Championship Point Standings

Brennan Poole Riding Momentum Surges back on-top of ARCA Championship Point Standings

Concord, NC (August 09, 2012) — Championship contender Brennan Poole has made a late summer surge over the last few weeks reclaiming the top-spot in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards point standings. Poole’s recent success in the ARCA Series has been dominating, setting the tone leading up to the final six races of the season.

Entering a stretch of five short track events starting at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan this weekend, Poole is focused on the task at hand. Already with a short-track victory earlier in the year at Elko Speedway Poole is confident with his ability and heavily relying on the strength of his No.25 Venturini Motorsports team to help him continue his winning ways. “Getting back into the short track groove is gonna be exciting for me! The majority of my racing the last few years has been on tracks less than a mile so this is definitely where I’m most comfortable. As a rookie I’m still learning each and every week so I’ll focus one track and one lap at a time,” says Poole.

“We’ve had a lot of team success this year and I expect more of the same in the coming weeks. It’s reassuring to know I’m surrounded by a group of people with similar goals with the experience to help me get around these tracks fast.” Leading all series drivers with laps led and Rookie of the year honors, Poole has kicked into high gear adding to his impressive season totals with two runner-up and one fourth place finish in just his last three races.   Poole has earned three Menard Pole Awards, two victories, seven top-5 finishes and 11 top-10 finishes in fourteen ARCA Series events.

The Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz Group will start at 8:30pm ET on Saturday, August 11, with live timing and scoring and live audio coverage available at ARCARacing.com.

Practice for the 200-lap race will take place that afternoon from 2:00-2:45pm and 3:15-4:00pm ET, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 5:00pm ET ARCA Racing Series drivers will participate in an autograph session – open to all fans – at 6:15pm ET. Tom Hessert Looking For Five-For-Five At Berlin Raceway Saturday Night

MARNE, Michigan (August 9, 2012) – – After posting an impressive runner-up finish in his most recent ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at Lucas Oil Raceway two weeks ago, Tom Hessert III returns to the circuit looking for career win number two in Saturday night’s Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway.

The taste of victory still fresh in his mind, Hessert is anxious to get to the Marne, Michigan short track in the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala for Ken Schrader Racing (KSR) and see if his Donnie Richeson-led team can improve by one and take their first ARCA triumph together in the 15th race of the season.

To the team’s advantage, they will bring the same automobile that competed with in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway last month, which ultimately could spell trouble for the rest of competition.

“I’m looking forward to Berlin Raceway this weekend, especially after our performance at Lucas Oil Raceway. It was evident that we didn’t have the best car in practice or qualifying – but during the race, we kept making adjustments to our No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet and the car responded well to those changes. That’s important. When we unload on Saturday morning, I feel we’ll be in good shape and if we have to make more changes, the car should adjust to our favor.”

Statically speaking, Hessert has every reason to feel confident about this weekend’s race. In his four previous starts at the .4-mile paved short track, he has yet to fall outside the top-10 as he’s acquired one top-five (fourth; 2010) and three top-10s including a sixth place finish last July driving for KSR. His best starting position there is third in 2008 (Andy Belmont Racing) and 2010 (Cunningham Motorsports).

“Even though I love it (Berlin), it’s a tough place to find a good balance for the car,” explained Hessert. “You must take care of your tires in order to have a shot at having a good finish. Despite its size, the track’s layout is prone to us having long green flag runs, especially the last two years or so. That can make the crew chief’s job a little harder on Saturday night – but sometimes it’s all about strategy that leads to victory. I think Pocono last weekend was a clear indicator of that.”

He added, “I’ve never finished outside the top-10 at Berlin and with any luck that stat will stand after Saturday night. I can tell you one thing if it changes, it won’t come without trying because it’s all or nothing for us this weekend.”

If all goes according to plan on Saturday during practice and qualifying and you can’t find Hessert with his Ken Schrader Racing team, you can expect to find him in the pits of Ricky Ehrgott. The New York, New York resident will make his inaugural ARCA Racing Series debut on Saturday night. The two are close friends and Hessert plans to help Ehrgott with his transition from dirt to pavement.

“I’m literally stoked for Ricky,” Hessert explained. “He’s a good person who’s been through a lot and thanks to Andy Hillenburg; he’ll have a chance to make his stock car debut on Saturday night. I want him to do well, so I’ll give him any and all the advice he wants. But once the green flag drops, he’s on his own, a jokingly Hessert smiled.

Entering Berlin, Hessert has 95 career ARCA Racing Series starts. In those outings, he has maneuvered two poles, one win, 23 top-fives and 50 top-10s.
