  • Korbin Forrister Looks To Earn Respect In Lucas Oil Raceway Debut

Korbin Forrister Looks To Earn Respect In Lucas Oil Raceway Debut

CLERMONT, Indiana (July 25, 2012) – – ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards rookie Korbin Forrister (@kforrister) will be the first to tell you that he has learned a lot in his early tenure as a development driver with Kimmel Racing. With that being said, the freshman driver will look to execute what he’s devoured in Friday night’s Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 by Federated Car Care at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

For the first time since Toledo, (No. 5 of 20), Forrister with the help of Tilted Kilt is set to run the full distance behind the wheel of the No. 68 Ford Fusion under the leadership and guidance of car owner and crew chief Bill Kimmel. While the Limited Late Model (LLM) pro’s inaugural ARCA debut did not go as planned after mechanical gremlins resulted in a disappointing 28th place finish, the Cedartown, Georgia native is eager to bounce back and deliver an encouraging run in the 12th race of the season.

“I really feel good about this weekend, especially considering I’ve had several start and parks since the last time I ran a full race at Toledo,” explained Forrister. “I know that many people may say, what can you possible learn from a start and park? I say a lot. I am now getting more comfortable with the cars and I’m confident I’ll be able to give the Kimmel Racing bunch a good finish in our No. 68 Tilted Kilt Ford Fusion.”

For the fourth time this season, Tilted Kilt will adorn the primary sponsorship role. In addition to Toledo, Tilted Kilt and its local franchises have also latched onto Forrister’s teammate Will Kimmel at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and last Saturday evening at Chicagoland Speedway. The Tilted Kilt is a Celtic-themed sports bar and restaurant chain with the nearest location in Alabama located in Birmingham. Tilted Kilt is in the business of lifting spirits one burger, one beer, one guest, one visit, at a time. The Tilted Kilt experience is one-of-a-kind and will always leave you in a better mood than when you arrived.

“Kimmel Racing has developed a great relationship with Tilted Kilt and its franchises,” offered Forrister. “Will has done a good job giving them some great finishes, now it’s up to me to do the same.”

Even though Forrister has yet to see the .686-mile oval for himself, the 19-year old has leaned on The ARCA Sim Factory to get accustomed with the track’s layout.

“I’ve yet to see Lucas Oil Raceway with my own eyes but I’ve been able to get some practice on a simulator to become more familiar with the track and get a good idea of what I’ll be facing on Friday. I’ve also done my own personal research on the track, looking at photos and such not to mention talking with others (drivers) that have previously ran there for a little feedback. Bill (Kimmel) thought this would be a good race for me, so I trust his judgment and I’m confident that if we have a clean and conservative night, we should produce a good finish.”

Once again, Forrister has made it clear that he will seek the advice of his teammate and mentor Will Kimmel.

“Will’s not only a teammate but a great friend,” he said. “He’s been racing a long time, a while in these ARCA cars in particular. He’s not one of those selfish people who is looking out just for himself. He wants to us all to succeed at Kimmel Racing, so it’s going to be a welcome feeling knowing that I can lean on him throughout the day to let him know what my car is doing and see what he suggests to do to make it better. I know his insight will be incredibly influential.”

Bill Kimmel, owner of Kimmel Racing commented on the outlook for his young protégé this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway. “Korbin’s been looking forward to Friday for a while now,” he said. “It’s going to be a tough field on Friday night but I think he’ll be fine. We haven’t set the expectations too high. We just want him to have a smooth practice, earn a strong starting spot and complete all 200 laps. If we can do that trouble-free, we should leave there with a  strong finish and something to build on for Springfield.”

In addition to Indianapolis, Forrister will drive for Kimmel Racing in upcoming events at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 19) and the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds (September 3).

The Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 by Federated Car Care(200 laps / 137 miles) is the 13th of 20 events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The ninth ARCA race at LOR is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, July 27 with a forty-five practice session planned from 1:35 p.m. – 2:20 p.m. A final practice is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag under the lights shortly after 9:00 p.m.

The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional coverage including timing and scoring will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local (Eastern).

  • Heartbreaking End To Western Swing For Hathaway

Heartbreaking End To Western Swing For Hathaway

July 25th, 2012- Saskatoon, Saskatchewan- After posting 3 podium finishes in as many races, Jason Hathaway in his #3 Snap-on Tools/Rockstar Energy Drink/Vortex Brake Pads Dodge had his streak come to a heartbreaking end at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

After practice the team was sitting 6th on the speed charts. With a tight qualifying field, Hathaway qualified 9th.

“We are starting 9th, but the car is good and we have 250 laps to save our stuff and we will be there at the end at the front at the end.” Said Hathaway after qualifying.

Once the green flag was dropped, as with previous races, it didn’t take Hathaway long to make his way up through the field.

Crew Chief Craig Masters called Hathaway down pit road for fuel and a chassis adjustment on lap 77 that improved Hathaway’s car and set him up for a long green flag run.

On lap 131, Hathaway brought his race machine down pit road for right side tires. The crew did a great job and sent him out 3rd in the running order.
Hathaway set his focus on the lead and earned 2nd on lap 145. With a superb re start by Hathaway he challenged for the lead and pulled into the top spot on lap 161.

Hathaway earned valuable points for leading the field and pulled away from the second and third place cars.

The awesome string of finishes came to a grinding halt for the team when on the re-start on lap 195, Hathaway felt something break in the rear end of his car.

Hathaway was relegated to the pits to the attention of his crew where they diagnosed a broken suspension part. He finished a heart breaking 21st. Although the race did not turn out the way the Team wanted Hathaway did maintain his 5th spot in the Championship points battle.

Hathaway was disappointed with the finish, but excited about the team’s momentum. “We had a wicked car tonight and I was comfortable with the car out front leading. A finish like this is hard for our team. We found something in the last 3 races and to have the western swing end like this is heartbreaking. I am so proud of my guys though. They give me all they have each weekend. We have shown just how strong our team is this season and that we are in the hunt up front. We will be back up front again.”

The Team will have a weekend off before their next event August 4 & 5 at the GP3R in Trois Rivieres, Quebec.

The Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 from Saskatoon will air on TSN2 on Saturday August 4th at 6:30PM Eastern.

  • KENNINGTON REELS OFF FIFTH STRAIGHT VICTORY, BECOMES SERIES ALL TIME WINS LEADER

KENNINGTON REELS OFF FIFTH STRAIGHT VICTORY, BECOMES SERIES ALL TIME WINS LEADER

July 26, 2012.  For the fifth consecutive race in the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season St. Thomas, ON racer DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team came out on top.  At round seven taking place Wednesday evening at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver would begin the 250 lap event from the fifth starting spot and quickly move into the top three.  Remaining near the front of the field for the entire event, Kennington would inherit the race lead on lap 195 and hold off the challenges of the #02 and the #84 to claim the victory.

“I simply can’t believe it” said Kennington.  “We didn’t have the best car tonight, both those guys raced me hard but clean and we managed to hold them off and put this Castrol Edge Dodge in victory lane again” he added.

The triumph is significant for several reasons.  With this latest victory Kennington again sets a new standard for consecutive race wins in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series with five in a row.  The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver equals the NASCAR Touring Series mark of five straight wins held by Ricky Craven who recorded five in succession in the K & N Pro Series East in 1991 along with Richie Evans and Mike Stefanik who achieved five in a row in 1985 and 1997 respectively.

Wednesday’s win at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway is the sixteenth victory of Kennington’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series career and moves him into top spot all by himself with the most series wins.  “If you asked me I never would have thought it was possible to take over the title this year, with so many good racers in the series” said Kennington.

As always the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver was quick to thank all those that helped make his milestone night possible.  “I’ve absolutely got the best team in the game” he stated.  “These guys work so hard every week, I share each win with all of them.  And there’s no way we can do this without the fantastic support of our sponsors, Castrol Edge, Mahindra Tractors, Hitachi Power Tools, NPP, everybody that supports us and makes this possible, we share this with you also”.

With his latest win DJ Kennington increases his lead in the overall championship point’s standings to 41 points over second place with five races remaining in the season.

NOTE:  This remarkable string of success by Kennington is getting plenty of media notice.  The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge pilot is scheduled to appear on ESPN’s NASCAR NOW on Thursday July 26th airing at 3PM Eastern.

DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team will be back in action August 4 & 5 at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres.  Fans can watch the race from Saskatoon on TSN2 Saturday August 4th at 6:30PM Eastern.

Race fans are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest team news in several ways.  Race fans should bookmark the team website www.djkracing.ca and follow them on twitter, @djkracing and fans should also “like” the team Facebook Page DJK Racing.

  • ANOTHER STRONG EFFORT FROM MARTIN ROY

ANOTHER STRONG EFFORT FROM MARTIN ROY

July 26, 2012.  In the final race of the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series western swing racer Martin Roy posted another strong top ten result in the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge.  With his best qualifying effort of the season, Roy began the 250 lap race at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway from the inside of row two and ran with the leaders much of the night.

During the practice session the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge team made an adjustment to the car and Roy was pleased with the improved handling.  “As practice went on, the car got even better” said Roy.

Roy backed up his solid practice qualifying for the feature event with the third quickest result.  Right from the drop of the green flag Roy was mixing it up with the leaders in the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge.  “The car was very good and I just tried to be patient and stay up front” said Roy.

After scheduled pit stops for fuel and tires Roy was again in the hunt at the front of the field.  However the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge suffered a battle wound when there was contact with the #60 car.  “We were side by side and he rubbed against me and that took off the valve stem on the tire and it went flat” explained Roy.

The #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge team quickly made the change and returned Martin Roy to the fight.  Roy charged hard in the remaining laps to secure his fourth top ten finish of the season.  “Although we recovered for a pretty good finish I’m a little disappointed” he stated.  “the possibility for a better result was there tonight”.

The confidence continues to build within the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge team and the results are showing on the track.  “Once again we had a very good car, my crew chief Mario Gosselin made some good adjustments and now we are right there with the leaders and soon a podium finish is going to happen” said Roy.

Teammate Isabelle will return to action at the next series event, August 4 & 5 at the Grand Prix of Trois- Rivieres in the #07 Frank Lyman Design Dodge.  Tremblay is still welcoming new partners to expand her race schedule to even more events this season.

Race fans will be able to watch the race from Saskatoon on TSN2 Saturday August 4th at 6:30PM and September 2nd at 6:30PM on RDS2. (All times Eastern).  The next event on the race schedule is Sunday August 5th at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres.

  • TOP FIVE FINISH FOR JIM WHITE IN SASKATOON

TOP FIVE FINISH FOR JIM WHITE IN SASKATOON

July 26, 2012. In only his second outing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this season Kamloops, BC racer Jim White once again showed his skills.  At the midweek event at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, White battled with the lead group of cars right to the end coming home with a fifth place result in the #24 Clavet Feed Mill Project Dodge.

Right from the first round of practice in the afternoon White showed the #24 Clavet Feed Mill Project Dodge would be a strong car.  In the final practice session White was ninth quickest.  “The car felt good right from the beginning” said White.  “We did very little to the car during practice” he stated.

During qualifying White posted the 12th quickest time and would line up for the 250 lap feature on the outside of row six.  “The times were so close in qualifying I wasn’t worried because I knew the car had more in it and would race well” said the driver.

Once the green flag waved to begin the action White immediately moved the #24 Clavet Feed Mill Project Dodge forward and climbed inside the top ten.  “Right from the get go the car was spot on” said the driver.  “It was really nice to run with that kind of pace all night” he added.

A little good fortune helped out in the successful run for White.  “We got down a lap during a long green flag run” he explained.  “But we kept at it and collected the free pass getting the lap back later in the race.  It actually worked well because we didn’t make our stop for tires until later, and I had fresher tires late in the race” he added.

Following the stop for tires the night was left in the hands of the diver and White continued to battle with the front runners in the fifth position.  “In the closing stages we were right there” said White.  Though he looked for an opportunity to gain position White was unable to advance and finished fifth, another series best result for him.

“What a great night” he exclaimed afterwards.  “I was hoping the leaders would mix it up a little and we could get a little more but I’m happy with a fifth place finish.  I can’t thank everyone enough that helped make this happen” he added.

Sponsorship for Jim White in the #24 Dodge has been supported by New Life Feeds and their contractors for the new Clavet Feed Mill Project that is currently under construction.  Those contractors include: AW Millwrights, Sturdy Formed Concrete Ltd., Mohr Construction, McNeil Engineering & Construction, Industrial Contracting Solutions and Ironbridge Fabrication Inc.

Race fans can watch the race from Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon on TSN Sunday August 4th at 6:30PM Eastern.

  • Josh Williams And Co. Hoping For Change Of Luck In Indianapolis

Josh Williams And Co. Hoping For Change Of Luck In Indianapolis

[media-credit name=”arcaracing.com” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]CLERMONT, Indiana (July 25, 2012) – – In the past two ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards races at Iowa Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway respectively, Josh Williams and his Josh Williams Motorsports (JWM) team have showcased competitive cars but unfortunately  have been plagued with misfortune. With the ARCA tour in the midst of their summer stretch, the family owned team heads to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis looking for a change of luck in Friday night’s Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 by Federated Car Care.

Last year, the team earned one of their three top-10 finishes of the season at the .686-mile oval driving the icon No. 02 Southwest Florida Cable Construction / Fields Auto Parts Ford Fusion. Patience, yet aggression earned the Port Charlotte, Florida native his then third career top-10 finish in his early ARCA career.

Fast forward nearly a year, Williams enters the 13th race of the season already with three more top-10 runs and is eager to accelerate past last year’s overall statistic at a track he feels very comfortable with. To aid towards his excitement about Friday night’s thunder, the Concord, North Carolina-based team is reuniting with Fields Auto Parts, who will serve as a co-primary sponsor on the team’s entry in their 12th race of the season.

“After our run at Lucas Oil Raceway last year, this has been one of the short track races, I couldn’t wait to get back to,” said Williams. “But, first we have to thank Bobby Fields and the entire staff at Fields Auto Parts for coming back on-board for a second year with us, It really means a lot and their support is making this race a reality for us. Bottom line, I love short track racing. You don’t always have to have the best car, you just have to be smart, stay alert but drive the wheels off of it. I’m not afraid to get aggressive and drive hard if it means getting us a good finish; we need it, especially after the last couple of weeks.”

While most teams made the trek back to their respective race shops to prepare for Friday night’s showdown, the JWM team elected to stay on the road and has spent the early part of the week putting the final touches on their blue oval. Initially, the team brought another piece for battle, but after several conversations, the team has now decided to use the car nicknamed “Bertha” as its wheels of choice instead.

“I love this car, it’s one of the best in our fleet,” offered the 18-year old. “I really feel like we had a top-15 in the bag at Chicagoland last weekend if not for the oil temperature issue, the car was just that solid. We’ve made some tweaks as far as the setup goes, so we’ll be fine and in-line with the other teams when we unload on Friday morning.”

Staying on the road between races can definitely offers its disadvantages, but the team has made the best out of the situation and even used the down-time as a bonding experience. “Whether we’re back in Concord or on the road, we’re a close-knit family,” Williams explained. “When you’re running on a strict budget like we are, we just figured it was in our best interest to stay on the road. Some friends of ours let us use their shop to get the car switched over. We’ve also done some fishing and some go-kart racing. It’s been fun, but we’re racers, so we’re ready for Friday to get here, because we want to go racing!”

Williams will continue to sport his new helmet signifying his involvement with RAD (Racing Against Drugs). A slick Simpson helmet decked out in a stimulating and gasping design by Shell Shock, Williams will wear the piece through the upcoming race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway before auctioning it off in August with the proceeds being directly donated to the RAD program.

“The helmet’s gained a lot of attention because it looks so cool,” Williams explained. “RAD is such a great program and their techniques really do help make you think before choosing a path you may not want to follow. I enjoy my affiliation with them and we hope to gain them some additional attention with our team mission.”

CLERMONT, Indiana (July 25, 2012) – – Without question or hesitation, Mason Mingus (@Mason_Mingus) has been able to surge himself into the spotlight driving the No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Chevrolet Impala for Win-Tron Racing. As the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards 60th anniversary season presses forward and heads to Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) at Indianapolis Friday night, Mingus and his team are ready to contend for victory.

With the confidence and faith from crew chief Mark Rette, the Brentwood, Tennessee native will aim for his first career top-five finish in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 by Federated Car Care. There are several reasons that Mingus is not only upbeat but confident in the ability to deliver the Lakeville, Minnesota-based team their second top-five outing of the year.   Last week, the duo participated in a private test session at the .686-mile oval and the veteran ARCA team was exceptionally pleased with the results from the driver. Adjustments to their No. 32 Call 811 Before You Dig Chevrolet Impala responded well which also has boosted the driver’s confidence leaning into his 10th career ARCA start.

“I’m ecstatic about getting back to Lucas Oil Raceway,” offered Mingus. “We went there and tested and man, the car was bad to the bone fast. Mark (Rette) and the Win-Tron Racing guys really have worked on this piece, because together we’re ready to prove that we have what it takes to win. This team is no stranger to victory lane and I’m eager to grasp one of those checkered flags in ARCA and I firmly believe that our chances are as good as any.”

Knowing that Friday night’s showdown will be full of plenty of short track aces, the teenager isn’t fazed by the fact. Instead, it’s given the development driver additional motivation to go out there and prove it to himself and his team.

“I’ve heard and saw from the entry list that this race usually brings out some of the best of the best as far as short track driving is concerned. I really feel that we have an advantage by being able to test and that will help us as we go through practice and qualifying and eventually leading up to the green flag. We just have to keep the fenders intact and my head clear and focus on the job on hand and we should be right where we need to be.”

To further aid the Tennessean with seat time at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Mingus will partake in the ARCA / CRA Super Series Fatheadz 100 presented by Team Construction driving the No. 811 Call 811 Before You Dig / Diamond Equipment Chevrolet for Mingus Motorsports, the preamble for the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 by Federated Car Care.

“The Late Model race should be a lot of fun,” sounded Mingus. “The race will go by quickly, but undoubtedly the extra seat time will be beneficial for the ARCA side. The ARCA / CRA Super Series is a fun series to compete in and we’ve enjoyed success. But how cool would it be to bring two trophies home on the same weekend?” For the seventh time this year, the 17-year old standout will be carrying the likes of Call 811 Before You Dig, which has been with him since his inception into the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Their logos return to the primary role on the team’s entry after hoisting the Iowa One Call signage in his most ARS start at Iowa Speedway on July 13. “I can’t begin to thank Call 811 Before You Dig for their support of me on the ARCA Racing Series tour this season,” added Mingus. “We’ve had some really good runs and gained them some attention – but our goal remains focused on bringing others aware of what Call 811 Before You Dig is all about and how their program works. I feel confident about our chances for Friday night for them.” Nate Thiesse, co-car owner of Win-Tron Racing offered his sentiments on his protégés tango with Lucas Oil Raceway. “We’re all fired up about getting to Lucas Oil Raceway this weekend. We really put a lot of time and effort into the test and it seemed to pay off with the lap times. Mason’s quick adaption to the track should easily play into our hands. Our chances are as good as any about helping Mason deliver his first career ARCA Racing Series win on Friday night.” On top of Lucas Oil Raceway, Mingus’s current ARCA schedule also includes Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds and the traditional Fall Salem (Ind.) Speedway classic.  In addition to Call 811 Before You Dig, Diamond Equipment will leap aboard the team as an associate marketing partner for Mingus’s ninth-career ARCA start.

About Call 811 Before You Dig:   811 (call811.com) is the new number you should call before you begin any digging project. A new, federally-mandated national “Call Before You Dig” number, 811 was created to help protect you from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects. People digging often make risky assumptions about whether or not they should get their utility lines marked due to concerns about project delays, costs and previous calls about other projects. These assumptions can be life-threatening. Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. If you hit an underground utility line while digging, you can harm yourself or those around you, disrupt service to an entire neighborhood and potentially be responsible for fines and repair costs.

ARCA RACING SERIES – RACE 13 OF 20 – LUCAS OIL RACEWAY PARK

For the ninth time in series history, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will hit Indianapolis’ short track for the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200. 2011 marked the first time Frank Kimmel competed at Lucas Oil Raceway Park, and the nine-time champion returns this weekend chasing a break through short track win.

Kimmel and the Ansell/Menards Toyota team have consistently performed near the front of the field at every short track event in the 2012 season. After season best finishes of 2nd at Salem and Toledo, the tight confines of short tracks have proved to be the strongest efforts for Kimmel thus far in 2012. Four of Kimmel’s five top five finishes in 2012 have come on short tracks, and has only one finish outside the top ten on short tracks. After leading 23 laps at Iowa two races ago, Kimmel has led a total of 84 laps on short tracks this season.

Over the last two weeks, Kimmel has become a major player in the championship chase, trying to win an unprecedented 10th ARCA title. With six of the eight remaining events on tracks one mile or less, Kimmel and the Thorsport Racing team like their chances to gain ground on the point leaders through the hot summer stretch. Consistency has always been a staple of Kimmel’s career, and 2012 has been no exception. After 12 events, Kimmel has nine top ten finishes, and just two finishes worse than 11th. With solid performances week after week, Kimmel and the Ansell/Menards team are focused on breaking into victory lane this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway Park.

2012 SHORT TRACK PERFORMANCE: Kimmel has scored his season best finish on short tracks this season. Two runner-up finishes at Salem and Toledo have contributed to a total of five top five finishes. Kimmel has led 84 laps on short tracks this season, and has one finish worse than 11th.

TOP TEN STREAK: Kimmel rides a streak of three consecutive top ten finishes dating back to New Jersey Motorsports Park on July 1st. After finishing 3rd at Chicagoland Speedway, Kimmel enters LORP with two consecutive top five finishes.

CLOSE TO THE RECORD: Kimmel can tie Iggy Katona’s all-time record of 43 pole awards this weekend during Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell on Friday at 5:30pm ET. In addition, Kimmel’s 74 career wins is five behind Katona’s all-time wins record in the ARCA Racing Series.

POINTS REPORT: After 12 of 20 races, Kimmel sits fourth in ARCA Racing Series points and trails point leader, Chris Buescher, by 100 points. With finishes of 5th at Iowa, and 3rd at Chicagoland, Kimmel has gained 60 points on the point lead in the last two races.

CHASSIS CHOICE: Kimmel will race Thorsport Racing’s A-1 chassis for the sixth time in 2012. Chassis A-1 has been raced to two runner-up finishes, and was most recently raced at Iowa where Kimmel finished 5th. (Mobile – 17th, Salem – 2nd, Toledo – 2nd, Winchester – 11th, Iowa – 5th).

THORSPORT TANDEM: For the first time this season, Thorsport Racing will field two cars in the ARCA Racing Series. Matt Crafton, driver of the #88 Menards Toyota in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Thorsport Racing will pilot the #18 Messina-Menards Toyota.

AVON, IN MENARDS APPEARANCE: Kimmel will visit the Avon, IN Menards location on Thursday, July 26th, from 7-8pm ET. Kimmel will be joined by the defending Brickyard 400 race winner, Paul Menard, and Thorsport Racing teammate, Matt Crafton to sign autographs. Menard’s #27, and Crafton’s #88 showcars will also be on display. The Avon Menards store is located at 10555 East US Highway 36, Avon, IN 46123.

THOUGHTS FROM THE DRIVER: Frank Kimmel

WITH ONLY ONE START, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON RETURNING TO LORP?

“I’m really looking forward to going back. It’s only 2 hours from home, which is always nice. It’s such a legendary racetrack, lots of history and a really cool racetrack. Last year, we didn’t run good at any point during the day. I was frustrated that we ran so poorly. So, this year I’m really looking forward to improving, especially with our record on short tracks this year. In order to stay in the points battle, we have to run well and redeem ourselves from last season.”

WHAT MAKES LORP SO MUCH DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SHORT TRACKS IN THE SERIES?

“The biggest difference is how flat it is. The track surface is a lot different from anywhere else we run because you don’t run right on the bottom. You run in up in the middle of the racetrack and sometimes, even higher. It’s a difficult place to get a hold of. The cars don’t want to turn, and once you do, it’s free up off. We seem to be tighter in the middle and loose up off the corner there more than anywhere else we go.”
