  • SCA’S TORK(r) WIPERS HEADED FOR ARCA TRACKS

Partnership Brings Product Line to the Forefront of Popular Racing Organization

PHILADELPHIA, May 19, 2011 – SCA Tissue and its TorkR brand of Wipers today announced plans to serve as an official product sponsor in the wiper and shop towel category in the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). The year-long partnership is a first for SCA, and will help the Tork brand gain further recognition within the automotive industry, which continues to be an important focus for SCA.

The brand will kick off the partnership on Sunday, May 15th during the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway, in which drivers will sport the Tork brand logo on their uniforms and cars. Additionally, teams will receive samples of Tork Advanced ShopMaxT Wipers and Tork Premium 520 Multipurpose Cloths. Throughout each race in 2011, SCA will reward the top four finishing Tork Wiper customers who also sport the Tork logo on their car and uniform with a product gift certificate.

“SCA’s line of Tork Wipers and PerformanceT dispensers are a perfect fit for ARCA. Tork’s innovative quality and designs make them a valued addition to the industry,” said Mark Gundrum, vice president of marketing and communications for ARCA.

“The ARCA partnership is an opportunity for SCA to gain additional traction in the automotive segment while showing appreciation to our loyal customers in the industry,” said Vice President of Product and Marketing at SCA Tissue North America, John Drengler. “Crew members, car engineers and mechanics insist on using the right tool for the job and continue to switch from conventional textile shop towels that can contain residual oil, grease and chemicals inhibiting performance and requiring constant laundering. Tork Wipers and Shop Towels provide higher quality, consistent performance and a more cost effective solution.”

Report: Patrick making move to NASCAR full-time in 2012

[media-credit name=”CIA Stock Photo” align=”alignright” width=”400″][/media-credit]The current full-time IndyCar Series driver and part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Danica Patrick said last week at Indianapolis that no decisions have been made regarding her future in NASCAR and IndyCar for next year, but a new report by ESPN.com says otherwise.

Patrick and JR Motorsports, along with Andretti Autosport, are reportedly nearing an agreement that would have Patrick racing full-time in the Nationwide Series next year and racing in the Indianapolis 500 IRL race. Both of Patrick’s contracts expire after this season. Sources who spoke to ESPN.com’s Terry Blount also say that a few Cup starts are likely, with Patrick moving into the Cup Series full-time in 2013.

“I suppose anything is possible,” Patrick said. “But I know for me, I haven’t made any of those decisions yet.”

Patrick began racing in the series in 2010, making 13 starts.  She is slated to make 12 starts this season.

Patrick started racing full-time in the IndyCar Series in 2005 and is the first woman to win an IRL race – in Japan in 2008.  The Japan victory is the only one in her IndyCar career.

  • Maryeve Dufault Takes The Checkered Flag At New Jersey Motorsports Park

Maryeve Dufault Takes The Checkered Flag At New Jersey Motorsports Park

MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 24, 2011) – – ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards competitor Maryeve Dufault accomplished her main goal in Sunday’s ModSpace 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, finishing the race in her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger.

Dufault, the Sorel Quebec Canada native entered the fifth race of the season optimistic after hailing from a road racing background in her open-wheel days but Dufault and her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team knew adjusting to not only a new track but a completely different automobile would present its challenges.

In practice Saturday, Dufault was one of the first drivers to tackle the Thunderbolt Raceway but her experience around the 12-turn race course would be short lived as a mechanical issue hindered much of the rookie team’s track time leading up to qualifying.

Time trails brought a worthy performance from the rookie on Saturday afternoon, picking up several seconds from her fastest practice speed to land her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger 21st on the starting grid.

At the start of the lone road course race of the season, Dufault would find herself maintaining a spot safely inside the top-25.

While finding her niche on the race track, on lap 20, Dufault would find herself at the wrong place at the wrong time as her and another competitor connected on the race track forcing her to bring her machine to pit road for four tires, damage control and fuel.

A quick effort by the TMR team sent their driver back into competition under yellow flag conditions. On the restart, Dufault aimed at moving herself back up the running order and despite going for an innocent spin on lap 25 in turn one after being tapped by another driver, the No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger began methodically inching through the field and was holding the 21st position on lap 35.

Climbing into the top-20 by lap 40, Dufault’s lap times were comparable to those in the top-10 thus moving her No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger into the 19th position on lap 50. With the caution flag waiving with 10 laps to go, the TMR team decided to bring their driver to pit road four tires, fuel and a spring rubber adjustment. Restarting in 21st, Dufault would run out of laps to gain additional positions on the track, but take the checkered flag in her fifth career ARCA start.

“I was hoping for a little better finish for VR-12, Dodge and the TMR team but we’ll take this finish in stride and move onto Chicagoland,” said Dufault after the race. “It’s a huge transition from open wheel cars to stock cars, especially on a road course. As a team we learned an awful lot this weekend and we were able to finish the race, which was our main goal coming into the weekend. We had some challenges as a new team and I think we were put ourselves a little behind with our gear selection. New Jersey is a tough road course but the more I was out there, the faster our No. 12 VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger became. I wish we would have had another 10 or 15 laps, because I feel like we could have made some major gains.”

She continued, “For our first road course race, we had some ups and downs but we persevered as a team. We know we faced some challenges and we ran out of time in practice but the effort by the Tony Marks Racing was commendable for sure. We can build off what we learned at New Jersey and apply it next year for hopefully a much better turnout.”

Tony Marks, owner of TMR spoke about the team’s run on Sunday afternoon. “We’ll take this finish for our first road course race,” the Napoleon, Ohio native said. “Maryeve and the team battled some adversity this weekend but overall we did what we needed to do which was finish the race. We’re heading to some tracks here soon where I really feel like we’ll get some strong finishes for VR-12, Dodge and everyone who supports our race team.”

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the first stop of the year at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway. The Messina Animal Wildlife Stopper 150 is set for Saturday June 4th set to launch at 5:00 p.m. live on SPEED. Dufault and the TMR team will make their inaugural intermediate (mile-and-a-half) start in the Windy City.

As the first race team to “Drive Against Hunger” through their partnership with Forgotten Harvest, TMR plans to continue their alliance with Forgotten Harvest and once again “Drive Against Hunger” during the 2011 season.

  • Chad McCumbee Turns Right into a Third-Place Run at the ModSpace 150

McCumbee Earns Career-Best Road Course Finish at New Jersey Motorsports Park

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 23, 2011) — Chad McCumbee is a proven racer, but the No.1 ModSpace Ford Fusion driver wants to be known for being more than a one trick pony.

A third-place finish at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Sunday’s ModSpace 150 was another step in doing just that.

It was no secret that McCumbee wasn’t a road course “ringer,” especially with just one career start turning both left and right. However, McCumbee proved Sunday he could adapt quickly – and drive the No. 1 ModSpace Ford Fusion even quicker – with an impressive third-place finish.

“Obviously, I am a big fan of road racing now,” McCumbee said. “It was an educational race, and when you are racing with those road course guys that do it week-in and week-out, I thought I learned more and more as the race went on. We had everything we needed, and everything went right for us.”

He finished 17th a year ago at New Jersey in his only other road course start.

The 26-year old was in the mix at the front of the field, running inside the top-five all day in the 67-lap race. His Andy Belmont Racing team qualified fifth, but McCumbee had to fight through the field the team had opted to gamble early on pit strategy.

“It was truly a flawless day,” Andy Belmont, the team manager said. “Our No. 1 ModSpace Ford got out run by two road course guys, which is something to take into consideration. Only a year ago, Chad was running his very first road course race, never turning right before. It was pretty phenomenal day. He looked like he knew what he was doing.”

The Supply, N.C., native proved to have one of the best race cars all weekend, qualifying fifth at 97.801 mph.

Shortly after the green flag dropped, McCumbee moved into second place until Lap 17. The team skipped the first round of pit stops during an early caution, opting to stop on Lap 31 with fresh tires, fuel, track bar adjustment and an air pressure adjustment. He returned to the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway in 12th position.

McCumbee methodically moved to the front during the middle of the race. He was back in the top five by Lap 35.

At the end, McCumbee couldn’t do anything with the road course “ringers” ahead of him. His third-place finish was the third top 10 run in a row for his ABR team. In all, McCumbee has four top-10 finishes this year.

“Chad McCumbee and the entire Andy Belmont Racing team did a spectacular job at New Jersey Motorsports Park,” William Mann, the director of motorsports for ModSpace, said. “ModSpace headquarters is located in nearby Berwyn (Pa.), so we had a lot of our employees at the track cheering for Chad. The podium finish made all of our employees proud of our racing program. We are confident that will see more top-three finishes from Chad with the No. 1 ModSpace team.”

McCumbee is looking forward to the next race following his first podium finish of the season.

“It gives you momentum, and good momentum is so important in every aspect in anything you do in life,” McCumbee said. “Now we finally have that. We have had a solid string of top-10s, and I think that is something to be proud of. When you start doing things like that, things just flow. It is never easy to do any of this and have these consistent finishes, but what makes it easier is when you are able to gain a little bit of momentum on your side.”

With the finish, McCumbee moved the No. 1 ModSpace team into fifth place in the ARCA Racing Series driver standings.

The No.1 ModSpace Ford Fusion will be back in action on Saturday, June 4, in the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 at Chicagoland Speedway.

  • PEAK Performance Athlete Danica Patrick Makes 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 Field

The eyes of the sports world were on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday as Bump Day for the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 proved to be one of the most dramatic in years.

SPEEDWAY, Ind. – The eyes of the sports world were on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday as Bump Day for the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 proved to be one of the most dramatic in years. Highlighting a day filled with tension and rain was the fact Danica Patrick, the event’s 2005 rookie of the year and a PEAK Performance athlete, was not in the field of 33. Patrick’s speeds throughout May were fast but her No. 7 Honda Dallara was inexplicably slow Saturday where she was not only unable to compete for the PEAK Performance Pole Award, she failed to make the top 24. While confidence was high the only female to ever win an IZOD IndyCar Series race would make the field on Bump Day, inclement weather throughout the day prevented her from getting the track time she needed. Plus, an issue in tech inspection sent her to the back of the line as well. But all ended well. With approximately an hour left in final qualifying, the Illinois native put together a four-lap average of 224.861 mph to earn the 26th starting position in next Sunday’s milestone race. “

“I feel like I need a drink,” Patrick said to the assembled media after her successful run. “That’s really how I feel. I’m mad. I’m mad because I really thought we had a fast car. I really thought when we started out that we had a fast car that was fast enough to be in the top nine, even. Friday came and that kind of went away a little bit, and then to have it go the way it did, I’m relieved. I’m relieved that I’m in the race. “I’m frustrated with some of the process that’s happened and some of the things that have happened. I’m excited for everyone that we can go to sleep tonight and know that we’re in the race. It’s a lot going on, but I’d say I’m between angry and happy. I’m on both ends of the spectrum.”

Patrick’s Andretti Autosport teammate Marco Andretti did not get into the field until the last possible moment at the day’s conclusion, but his success was bittersweet as it knocked out another of his father Michael’s drivers, Ryan Hunter Reay. Reay and Mike Conway, both drivers for Andretti and the winners of the last two Grand Prix of Long Beach were unable to qualify for The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

The 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season continues with the 100th Anniversary Indianapolis 500 on May 29 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway where PEAK Performance Pole Award winner Alex Tagliani will lead the field of 33 to the green flag. The race will be telecast live in High Definition at Noon (ET) by ABC. The race will air live on the IMS Radio Network, SiriusXM channel 94 and IndyCar.com. For more information on the event and for tickets, visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the Web at IndianapolisMotorSpeedway.com.

  • Frank Kimmel Handles Left and Right Turns – Finishes 6th at New Jersey Motorsports Park

Millville, NJ – The No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford, driven by Frank Kimmel, finished 6th in the ModSpace 150 from New Jersey Motorsports Park. It was time for Frank Kimmel and the rest of the regulars in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards to turn left and right, as they competed at the first road course of 2011. Frank Kimmel qualified the Ansell-Menards Ford in 7th and would start the 67 lap road course contest from the 5th position, after the Menards Pole award winner had to move to the rear of the field.

It was a solid race for Frank and the Ansell-Menards team; something they needed after the disappointment of Toledo. From the drop of the green flag, Frank quickly moved the Ansell-Menards Ford up to 4th but would surrender a few spots to the road course ringers before the first caution flew. However, Frank showed patience and would race around 8th for a majority of the contest.

“I made a miscue on our gas-and-go there at the end. I left before we got the tank full in the Ansell-Menards Ford. I was going to run out of gas, so it was good catching that last caution. To salvage a sixth out of this day with our Ansell-Menards Ford was pretty good, because it could have been a bad day for us if that mistake came back to bight me,” said Frank Kimmel after the race

The Kimmel Racing team worked feverishly throughout the race to get the Ansell-Menards Ford better in the turns. The hard work was obvious, as Frank and the Ansell-Menards Ford would not fall out of the top-10 the entire contest, eventually taking the checkered flag in 6th. The 6th place finish moved Frank back to 2nd in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Championship Points.

Watch for Frank Kimmel at Chicagoland Speedway driving the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford on June 4th for the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. • Sean Corr Strengthens ARCA Resume With Solid Finish At New Jersey Motorsports Park

MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 23, 2011) – – ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship contender Sean Corr strengthened his racing resume Sunday afternoon by delivering his fifth consecutive top-20 finish of the year in the ModSpace 150 at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP).

Corr, the Goshen, New York native brilliantly crafted his No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion around the 12-turn, 2.3-mile Thunderbolt Raceway in his road racing debut which further solidified and completed the team’s goals for the weekend.

Armed with road racing ace and former ARCA Racing Series winner Robb Brent at their disposal, the Empire Racing team led by crew chief Howard Bixman and team manager John Bellesfield allowed Brent and Corr to split the seat time in both practice sessions Saturday focusing on a comfortable setup for the No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion.

With every lap around the Millville, New Jersey race course, Corr continued to shine. In qualifying late Saturday afternoon, the New Yorker delivered his best lap of the day good enough to put his blue oval 22nd on the starting grid.

At the start of the fifth race of the season, Corr showed extreme patience but also utilized his first road course race as a test of durability and determination. By lap 10, Corr had moved his No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion into the top-20.

However, with the road racing experts setting a torrid pace at the beginning of the race, Corr along with much of the field would find themselves off the lead circuit by lap 16 of the 67 lap contest.

Despite falling off the lead circuit, cheerleading from his team including spotter Brent allowed the avid dirt driver to hover around the “lucky dog” position. When the caution flag waived on lap 21, Corr found himself one car away from returning to lead lap status. During the yellow, Bixman brought his driver down pit road for four tires and fuel.

On the restart, Corr would chase down the No. 23 of Nick Igdalsky for the “lucky dog” position and by lap 29, the No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion made an impressive move around the ARCA veteran to once again find himself in the prime spot.

The caution would waive yet again approaching lap 35 with Corr again narrowly missing the “lucky dog” award as colleague and friend Chad Hackenbracht made a green flag pit stop and returned to the race track just inches ahead of Corr.

Frustrated but not out, Corr would again hunker down in his No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion and try to put his family owned team in the “free pass” position. By lap 40, Corr was locked in the 16th position but found himself gaining tremendous experience battling with the best of the best in the ARCA Racing Series.

Ten laps later, Corr still maintained the 16th place position, the first car one lap down. The break the team had been waiting for all day would finally come with just 10 laps remaining when debris forced ARCA officials to waive the yellow flag putting the No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion back on the lead circuit.

Restarting at the tail end of the longest line, Corr immediately hammered down on the restart with seven laps remaining to puncture his automobile into the top-15 and a solid chance of knocking on the door of a top-10. But, with just a handful of laps remaining, Corr’s machine began to sputter thus forcing an unexpected trip to pit road for a splash of fuel.

Corr would maintain his position on the lead lap before the leaders caught the white No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion with two laps remaining, putting Corr once again the first car one lap down.

Persevering with a “champion” like attitude, Corr took the checkered flag in the 16th position, improving six positions from his original starting position.

“The car was really good,” said Corr of his first road racing event. “A lot of us found ourselves trapped early in the race but we never ever gave up. We finally had a break go our way, then had to make the trip to pit road for a splash and go. Overall though, we’re looking at the bigger picture – which is we learned a lot this weekend thanks to Robb (Brent) and the hard, dedicated work of the Empire Racing team. We were also able to walk away with the car in one piece and a respectable finish.”

The 26-year old added, “I want to thank Roush Yates Performance, Roush Yates Engines, TransGroup, BoomText for all of their support not to mention all of our friends and family who made the trip to come and watch me race. It was such a great feeling to have that much support in the stands.”

Sunday’s finish vaulted Corr to ninth in the championship standings after five of 19 races with a comfortable 70-point cushion over 10th place driver Dakoda Armstrong.

Before Corr and his Mooresville, North Carolina-based team shift their focus to round six at Chicagoland Speedway for the Messina Animal Wildlife Stopper 150, the team will trek back west to the Great Lakes state of Michigan to participate in an open ARCA Racing Series test at Michigan International Speedway on Wednesday in preparation for next month’s The RainEater Wiper Blades 200.

With his 16th career ARCA start on deck at Chicagoland, Corr will return to the 1.5-mile oval for the first time since 2009 where he qualified 27th and finished then a season-best 13th. The Messina Animal Wildlife Stopper 150 will take the green flag on Saturday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m. live on SPEED.

Recently, Empire Racing and BoomText officially announced the “Hard Corr Fans” program powered by BoomText, a mobile marketing campaign which allows fans to pledge towards becoming an official member of the Empire Racing team – not to mention helping three of Corr’s personal charities. To join the campaign, fans just simply have to text the word “CORR” to 411247 where they will receive an automated safe-secured link to join the “Hard Corr Fans” team. • Chad Hackenbracht; CGH Motorsports Delivers First Top-10 Finish At New Jersey

MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 22, 2011) – – A finish well deserved. After encountering a slew of issues during practice and qualifying yesterday at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP), Chad Hackenbracht and his CGH Motorsports team delivered in Sunday’s ModSpace 150 collectively putting together their first top-10 finish in ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards competition.

The 19-year old’s ninth-place performance in his first ever stock car road racing start comes on the heels of a prior career-best finish of 11th scored at Toledo Speedway last weekend in the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.

Undoubtedly, the family-owned team leans on the momentum of two strong finishes to propel them into the first intermediate race at Chicagoland Speedway on June 4th.

“This was a total team effort,” said Hackenbracht, a native of New Philadelphia, Ohio. “We overcame a whole bundle of issues and kept our heads together and prevailed. It feels really good. I cannot thank Rob (Torrey, crew chief), Kevin (Reed, director of competition), my mom and dad and the entire CGH Motorsports team for their efforts this weekend. Hard work does definitely pay off.”

Hackenbracht’s first top-10 finish came in the series fifth outing of the season and the 2008 National Asphalt Legends champion 14th career ARCA start. Two ninth place qualifying efforts at Kansas Speedway (2010) and Salem (Ind.) Speedway (2011) are his best time trials efforts to date.

CGH Motorsports is actively seeking additional marketing partners for the full 2011 ARCA Racing Series schedule. Single, multi and full-season placements are available on the team’s No. 58 entries. Interested parties are urged to contact Jordan Dahl at 570.234.5449 or jordan@cghmotorsports.com.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is the first stop of the year at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway. The Messina Animal Wildlife Stopper 150 is set for Saturday June 4th set to launch at 5:00 p.m. live on SPEED.
