  • Race No. 12: Pinty’s 250 presented by Dodge at Kawartha Speedway

Race No. 12: Pinty’s 250 presented by Dodge at Kawartha Speedway

The final race of the 2012 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 season is set to take place at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario. The focus is on the championship and whether Kennington can become a two-time series champion.

Fitzpatrick sits closest in points to Kennington, sitting 23 points behind. Therefore, Kennington has to finish 19th or better if Fitzpatrick was to win the race and lead the most laps as Kennington would then win the tie breaker.

A finish of 20th or worse is possible as proven at Barrie Speedway on September 8th when Kennington had fuel pump problems. However, that marks his only finish outside of the top five all season long.

“The Barrie thing was nobody’s fault,” Kennington says. “We couldn’t see that coming, but it’s crunch time now and we’ll see to everything we can.”

[media-credit id=4 align=”alignleft” width=”266″][/media-credit]The St. Thomas, Ontario driver brings momentum to Kawartha following his sixth victory of the season last weekend at Riverside International Speedway. The sixth victory of the season ties the single-season mark that Ranger established in 2009. Kennington has a chance to take sole possession of the record and his chances look good, following two victories at Kawartha in the past, including last year.

“It’s been a phenomenal year. I’ve got the best race team out there and they’ve worked tirelessly to make this a possibility,” Kennington says. “We’ve got one race to go, though, and nothing is clinched yet.”

Along with the victories at Kawartha last season and in 2009, he also finsihed second in 2008 and third in 2010 for a total of four top five finishes at Kawartha in five outings. He has also led a series-best 252 laps at the .375 mile speedway.

On the flip side, Fitzpatrick has yet to score a victory at Kawartha despite leading 87 laps there. He came home with a third place finish last year.

While the focus is on the championship picture, Martin Roy has already clinched the 2012 Rookie of the Year title after being the top-fnishing[media-credit id=4 align=”alignright” width=”266″][/media-credit] rookie in four different races this season. His best finish of the season came at Edmonto City Centre Airport in July, where he finished fifth. He currently sits ninth in the series points standings with one top-five finish and five top 10s this season.

Roy made the adjustment to oval racing after success in the dirt modified ranks. He had fellow Quebec native Mario Gosselin in his corner as his crew chief. Gosselin has experience in NASCAR’s top three divisions, including 46 career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts.

“From the very start of the season the communication with (Gosselin) has been very good,” Roy says. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without his knowledge of the sport.”

While the focus will be on those three, there is also a race to settle that could very well see one of the other competitors take the victory. Jason Hathaway, Pete Shepherd III and Scott Steckly each have won at Kawartha Speedway in the past.

Steckly won the series’ inaugural visit to Kawartha in 2007 and has four top 10 finishes in five Kawartha starts, including a second to Kennington last year.

Hathaway won the rain-shortened 2008 race at Kawartha and has three top 10 finishes in five starts. Last season didn’t work out well as he finished 21st.

Shepherd III won the 2010 event at Kawartha and has led 151 laps in three series starts. The series part-timer will be looking for his second victory of the season after winning at Barrie Speedway earlier this month.

Steve Mathews will be looking for his first career victory after finishing seventh last year, after leading over 40 laps and getting spun under caution. He also won his first career pole last year. Mathews has momentum following a fourth in his last series start at Barrie earlier this month.

  • Taylor Ferns to Make Eldora Speedway Debut in 4-Crown Nationals

Taylor Ferns to Make Eldora Speedway Debut in 4-Crown Nationals

Shelby Township, Mich.—September 21, 2012 — For open wheel drivers that compete on the dirt, Eldora Speedway in Ohio is hallowed ground. Taylor Ferns, while still just 16 years-old, knows the mystique of the famed half-mile very well. She has watched numerous races from Eldora online, and caught a few on television as well. This week she’ll get to experience the legendary venue in person, as she makes her Eldora debut during the 4-Crown Nationals.

Ferns will compete in the USAC Mopar National Midget Series portion of the 4-Crown Nationals on Saturday, Sept. 22 aboard her family-owned Dea Eyewear Spike. The event will begin with time trials, followed by heat races, and the night will culminate with a 25-lap A-Feature.

“Eldora is such a well-known track and has so much prestige and history,” said Ferns. “As a race car driver you try not to think about those things though and just treat it like another race and another track. That’s the mindset you have to have going into every race, whether it’s a big, prestigious race or just a local show. You have to treat them all the same. I’m excited to go there for the first time and it should be a fun weekend.”

The reigning USAC Mopar D1 Midget Series champion will be making her first start on a half-mile dirt track, though she has raced on four paved half-miles this year, as well as the 0.686-mile Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and the seventh-eighths-mile Iowa Speedway. Ferns earned her best-career USAC Mopar National Midget Series finish on the half-mile Plymouth Speedway in Indiana in July. The native of Shelby Township, Mich., also scored a Top-10 in her USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series debut at Iowa Speedway in June, which was the largest track that she has competed on in her young career.

“On the bigger tracks you carry so much speed, so having laps on bigger tracks on the pavement will definitely help heading to Eldora this weekend, even though it is dirt,” she explained. “Hot laps are always important, and will be even more so this weekend. That will give me a chance to learn the track and get a feel for it and see what I have to do for the rest of the race night. I’ll be focused every time I hit the track and try to learn as much as I can.”

Ferns raced last weekend in the Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series, which marked her first visit to that high-banked quarter-mile. Each of her last four midget starts and 12 overall on the season have come on the dirt, all of which have been on tracks three-eighths-of-a-mile or smaller.

“It’s always a different going from smaller tracks to a bigger, more open track,” noted the high-school junior. “The way you run is a lot more spaced out on bigger tracks and you have to pass people a little different. Having a lot of seat time on the dirt lately should help heading to Eldora.”

The winningest female in USAC history has raced in a variety of midget races this season on both the dirt and asphalt, with the USAC Mopar National Midget Series, as well as POWRi and the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association. She also made three starts in a Silver Crown car, all on pavement, qualifying 13th or better and finishing 15th or better in all three of those races, as well as making four appearances in an asphalt late model, picking up a Top-10 finish in her first-ever start in a full-bodied stock car.

“My main goal right now is to keep learning and improving every time I am on the track, especially at a place like Eldora that is new for me,” said Ferns. “I haven’t raced as much this year as I have in the past, so continuing to get seat time is important and that helps my confidence for me and our whole team’s confidence as well.”

The Outlaws head East for the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on Saturday.

With only eight features remaining this season, Donny Schatz has a 94-point lead over Craig Dollansky with Sammy Swindell 117 points out of the top spot.

Swindell, who leads the series with 12 victories, looked at Eldora Speedway to mark a charge at the championship. In 22 events on a half-mile oval this season, Swindell has claimed six – two times more than Schatz or Dollansky.

Swindell also won two of the four World of Outlaws events at Eldora Speedway this season, including the $50,000-to-win Kings Royal on July 14. He also parked in Victory Lane on May 5.

  • Bowman, Poole Waging Battle for Aaron’s Lap Leader Award

Bowman, Poole Waging Battle for Aaron’s Lap Leader Award

(TOLEDO, Ohio) – With just two races remaining in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, rookie drivers Alex Bowman and Brennan Poole are in a tight competition for the year-end Aaron’s Lap Leader Award.

One point toward the $2500 Aaron’s Lap Leader Award is earned for every lap led by an ARCA Racing Series driver carrying on their car the decal of Aaron’s, Inc., the nation’s leader in sales and lease ownership and the official sales and lease ownership company of ARCA.

Bowman (No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge) leads Poole (No. 25 Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet or Toyota) by 15 laps over the course of the 2012 season’s first 18 races, 487-472. Bowman has led laps in a series-high 11 events, while Poole has led in seven.

Bowman’s top highlights this year, unsurprisingly, came in two of his three wins. At Salem Speedway in April, the 19-year-old from Tucson, Ariz. led 146 of 200 laps, including the last 60. He led 93 of 202, including the final 51, to win at Iowa Speedway in July.

Poole led 148 of 200 laps in his win at Elko Speedway in June, more laps than any driver has led in a single race this year. He then led over 70 in three of the next five races on the schedule, driving up front for 77 laps in a win at Pocono Raceway the next week, 72 at Winchester later that month, and the first 74 at Iowa in July.

Series points leader Chris Buescher is third in the award chase, having led 394 laps over eight races. Frank Kimmel (290 in seven) and Chad Hackenbracht (163 in six) fill the rest of the top five.

As scheduled, the two remaining races this season feature 199 total laps of competition.

Twenty-five drivers have led at least one lap while carrying the Aaron’s decal this season, with the top 11 all over 80 laps led.

Drivers leading the most laps in a race while carrying the Aaron’s decal win a $250 race award. Race award winners in 2012 include: Poole, five (Elko, Pocono – twice, Michigan, Winchester); Bowman, four (Mobile, Salem – April, New Jersey, Iowa); Buescher, two (Toledo, Madison); Kimmel, two (Berlin, Springfield); Sean Corr (Daytona); Hackenbracht (Lucas Oil); Tom Hessert (Salem – September); Matt Lofton (Talladega); and Kevin Swindell (Chicagoland).

The second dirt race of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season is up next, on Sunday, October 14 in DuQuoin, Ill.

Practice for the Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care will begin at 9 a.m. and last for one hour, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell starting at 11:15. The 100-lap, 100-mile race will take place at 1:30 p.m. All times are Central. ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage throughout the day, and ARCA Racing Network hosts Charlie Krall and Tim Clagg will deliver a live audio call for the race on the site. The race had been scheduled for Labor Day, but was postponed because of severe weather in southern Illinois.

2012 is the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards’ 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The complete 2012 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 26 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.375 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama’s Mobile International Speedway and Minnesota’s Elko Speedway for the first time.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.

  • Three Races for Tracy Hines During the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora

Three Races for Tracy Hines During the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora

New Castle, Ind.—Sept. 20, 2012— Three races in one night in three different cars. That’s the challenge that Tracy Hines will face this weekend during the 4-Crown Nationals at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, and one that he is certainly looking forward to.

The USAC portion of the 4-Crown Nationals is set for Saturday, Sep. 22. The Traxxas Silver Crown Series will take to the high-banked half-mile for time trials and a 50-lap main event. The Amsoil National Sprint Car Series will qualify, run heats, and cap off their night with a 30-lap A-Feature. The Mopar National Midget Series will kick off the event with time trials, followed by heat races and wrapping up their night with a 25-lap main event.

“Four-Crown is always a big weekend for us,” said Hines. “It’s the only time all season that we run all three cars: Silver Crown, Sprint and Midget on the same night. As a driver you definitely have to be on your game and adapt to the track as it changes all night. That’s where having a lot of experience in each of the three cars comes into play.”

Hines, who won earlier this season with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at Eldora, finished in the Top-Five in all three USAC races during the 4-Crown Nationals last year. He opened the night with a fifth-place showing aboard his Parker Machinery Toyota-powered Midget. The 2002 USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series champion followed that up with a fourth-place performance in the Sprint Car feature aboard his MP Environmental Shaver-powered DRC. Hines wrapped up the night with a fifth-place finish in the Silver Crown A-Feature.

“I was consistent last fall at Eldora during the Four-Crown in all three cars,” stated the native of New Castle, Ind. “Anytime you go back to a place like Eldora, where you have won before, whether it’s earlier in the season as is the case this year for us, or have wins in years past, it always gives you a little extra confidence. It’s a tough event, but one that we always look forward to.”

Hines has four career wins during the 4-Crown Nationals. He was victorious for the first time in the marquee event in 1996 in a Midget. The veteran driver returned to the winner’s circle during the tradition-rich race in 2000 aboard a Sprint Car. He then doubled up on wins during the 2006 edition of the 4-Crown Nationals, taking the checkered flag first in both the Sprint Car and Midget main events.

“It’s been a few years since I’ve won during the Four-Crown Nationals,” he noted. “I still vividly remember winning the Midget race there back in 1996. To win two races in 2006 was pretty special, as only a select group of drivers have accomplished that feat over the years. It’s tough to win one race at Eldora, let alone two or even three. We’ll certainly give it everything we got this weekend.”

Last weekend, Hines competed with the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series at Tri-State Speedway in his home state of Indiana, in the Haubstadt Hustler, finishing 17th in the 40-lap main event. He ran fourth in the third 10-lap heat, coming up one position short of transferring to the main event, putting him in the B-Main, where he finished third to earn a spot in the A-Feature. Hines opened last weekend by mentoring a young driver, who had a midget race in Illinois.

Hines is currently fifth in the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car Series championship standings. He has one victory, along with 16 Top-10 and eight Top-Five finishes. In the USAC Mopar National Midget Series he is second in points on the strength of three wins, 10 Top-10 and six Top-Five finishes. Hines, the 2000 USAC Traxxas Silver Crown Series champion, is ninth in that series standings with two races remaining this season.

“We have a good chance to move up in the Silver Crown and Sprint Car Series points as the season winds down,” noted Hines. “In the Midget we are in second and we’ll see if we can gain some points on the leader there as well in the handful of races remain in that series. Between the three cars, we have a good schedule remaining this season and it’s our goal to end the year on a strong note and carry some momentum into the off-season.”

Tracy Hines Racing would like to thank: MP Environmental, Parker Machinery, FatHeadz, Turbines, Inc., Support Esophagus Cancer, DRC, Shaver Specialties, AFCO Racing Shocks, Bell Race Gear, Kenny’s Components, Race Bumpers, Rod End Supply, Schoenfeld Headers and Stanton Racing for their continued support.

  • Swindell Still Winning at Eagle Speedway

Swindell Still Winning at Eagle Speedway

[media-credit name=”World of Outlaws” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]After a three year absence from Eagle Speedway, the Outlaws return was an exciting one. The Outlaw show brought with it some big names, Danny Lasoski, Brian Brown, and the current reigning Sprint Cup Champion, Tony Stewart. The 21 car field was a stacked deck. Every car was fast and every driver determined. When the night was over the World of Outlaws did not disappoint.

The evening started with a choppy one third mile track especially on the bottom in 1 and 2. But as the night went on with a little manicure it smoothed out and became a faster race surface. Qualifying would see Kraig Kinser set quick time. He was followed by Craig Dollansky, Jason Johnson, Sammy Swindell and Cody Darrah for the top 5. The 2nd spot in qualifying would give Dollansky 2 points in the points race against Donny Schatz who qualified 8th.

The heat races would progress quickly with only one yellow flag in the final heat. The first heat race was won by 4 time champion Sammy Swindell. Bill Rose,  his return to the circuit after sustaining a deep leg bruise in a scarey crash in Deer Creek on Saturday, would come home second and transfer to the dash. Also transferring to the dash was the quick time holder Kraig Kinser.

The second heat would be won by Ian Madsen with Donny Schatz coming home second to transfer to the dash. Also transferring to the dash would be Cody Darrah and Craig Dollansky. The visiting Sprint Cup Champion would, Tony Stewart would come home 6th.

The third heat was taken by Danny Lasoski who held off a hard charging Jason Johnson who pulled a nasty slide job on 20 time champion Steve Kinser to take the second spot. Kinser would finish 4th. Lasoski and Johnson transferred to the dash.

The Dash was a fast paced no holds barred 8 lap event that saw Sammy Swindell seal the pole for the 40 lap A Main by holding off team mate Craig Dollansky. World of Outlaws points leader would come home 6th to start in the 3rd row of the A Main.

With only 21 cars signed in there would be no Last Chance Showdown. Every driver would transfer to the A. It made for a heavily stacked field.

The A Main was a very quick race. Jason Johnson was unable to make the call after the Dash when the car would not re-fire. Joey Saldana also had an issue with the car suddenly cutting off at lap 12. Saldana would go to the work area and return to competition at the rear of the field. He would rally back to finish 14th a lap down. Swindell lead all 40 laps despite several challenges from former Rookie of the Year Cody Darrah but Darrah was not able to make the pass on the wily veteran who at one point had a 3 second lead. Darrah would finish second and Donny Schatz would come in 3rd for his 9th podium finish in as many races.

The points lead tightened up yet again with Dollansky closing to within 94 points of Donny Schatz. Schatz remains the hottest driver on the circuit and with only 8 races left in the season he will be hard to catch. But he is not out of Dollansky’s reach just yet. A win by Dollansky or a slip by Schatz makes this a neck in neck race going into Charlotte for the National title. Both drivers are showing their metal. They are putting it out there. They are taking chances and they are racing hard. No points racing. No stroking to the finish. They are wheel to wheel and coming into 4, wide open with their foot to the floor. What else can you ask for? They are racers. And they are racing. They are racing as hard as they and their teams can race. Which ever one wins will have earned not only the championship but the respect that goes with it.

In 8 races we will have our champion. It seems like just yesterday we were running the first race in Volusia. It’s been a long season but it’s flown by. Maybe not for the crews some of which haven’t been home since June. Maybe not for the drivers some of which have been upside down and beat and banged and out there in motor coaches since June. But for the fans it has been all too short. But it has been filled with memories. Memories that will help to ease the sting of withdraw until February when once again the Mighty Wings of the Outlaws will take to the track in Volusia. But until then we have 8 races. And it’s a sure bet that every single driver in the field will be racing to very limits of his equipment and his skills. Take it to the bank, it will be one helluva a ride.

A Trio of High-Banked Tracks Await Kraig Kinser this Week

[media-credit name=”World of Outlaws” align=”alignright” width=”234″][/media-credit]Bloomington, Ind.—Sept. 18, 2012— Eagle Raceway, Eldora Speedway and Lernerville Speedway are three very different and distinct race tracks, but they all have one common attribute — they are three of the highest-banked venues on the World of Outlaws schedule. Kraig Kinser will compete at each of the tracks this week, as the series wraps up a swing through the Heartland and begins to head east, as the season continues to wind down.

Kinser opens the trio of races at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Showdown, which was postponed by rain in April. The driver of the Hendrickcars.com Maxim will then head to the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio, on Friday, Sept. 21, for the World of Outlaws portion of the 4-Crown Nationals. Kinser will wrap up the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., in the Commonwealth Clash.

Kinser and his fellow World of Outlaws competitors will be making their first appearance at Eagle Raceway since 2009. The native of Bloomington, Ind., has made 17 career main event starts at the one-third-mile, including preliminary features, picking up five Top-10 finishes along the way. Kinser finished a career-best fourth at Eagle in 2003, and earned a pair of fifth-place finishes in 2005. He made his debut at the track in 2000, when he was just 16 years-old, finishing 10th in that event. The third-generation driver finished 13th in his most recent start at the track in 2009.

“It’s been a few years since we’ve been to Eagle, and a lot has changed on the cars since then, so that will equalize the playing field a little bit,” said Kinser. “I’ve had some good runs there in the past and we’ve done pretty well on tracks that are similar to Eagle this year. Qualifying up front and making it into the dash will be important, just as it seems to be every race nowadays.”

In four starts at the legendary Eldora Speedway this season, Kinser has recorded three Top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place performance in the Kings Royal. He finished ninth in the opener of the two-night Outlaw Thunder by Goodyear event back in May and was also ninth in the Knight Before the Kings Royal in July. Kinser made his debut at the venerable half-mile in 2001, and has competed at Eldora in 10 different seasons. He has 12 career Top-10 finishes at the Ohio oval with five of those being Top-Five showings. Kinser has five Top-10 finishes in his last seven starts at Eldora over the past two seasons.

“We had a good set-up in the Kings Royal, so we have a good baseline to off this weekend,” he stated. “I’ve been pretty good at Eldora the last couple of seasons, and feel like we are getting closer and closer to being a contender over there. There is always a good field of cars there in the fall, so we’ll definitely have to be on our game each time we hit the track.”

The 2005 winner of the Knoxville Nationals has made 14 career starts at Lernerville with the World of Outlaws. Kinser has three Top-10 finishes in his career at the four-tenths-mile located just outside of Pittsburgh, including a career-best fifth-place performance last year in the Commonwealth Clash. He made his first start at the track in 2004, finishing 13th. Earlier this season during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s, Kinser was leading the B-Main when a lapped car spun in front of him, leaving him nowhere to go. With damage too extensive to repair prior to the pair of main events, his his night ended early.

“We were pretty fast at Lernerville back in July, but had a lot of bad luck that night,” noted Kinser. “To have a good finish this time around would make up for that a little bit. I always seem to run pretty good in the fall at Lernerville and the surface is a little different compared to when we are there in the summer. There are a lot of great fans up in that area, so it should be a good show to wrap up the weekend.”

Kinser is sixth in the World of Outlaws championship standings heading into this week’s three races, with just 10 point-paying events remaining this season. He has been victorious four times in 2012 and has earned 39 Top-10 and 18 Top-Five finishes.

  • Kennington Takes Sixth Win Of Year At Riverside

Kennington Takes Sixth Win Of Year At Riverside

September 15, 2012.  After a race to forget last Sunday, DJ Kennington put his #17 Castrol Edge Dodge back in familiar territory during round eleven of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Riverside International Speedway near Antigonish, NS this past weekend.  Saturday evening Kennington would lead a race high 188 laps en route to his sixth victory of the season, and take another step closer to his second series championship.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge didn’t post the quickest times during practice and qualifying but that was because Kennington and the team were working on something specific prior to the 300 lap feature.  “We wanted the car to be at its best during long green flag segments and it absolutely was” said Kennington.

The #17 Castrol Dodge driver would line up in the fifth starting spot and begin his push toward the front of the field almost immediately.  “I wanted to be aggressive in this race” said the driver.  Nobody is going to hand us a win or a championship, we have to go get it and that’s why I was pushing hard early” he explained.

Kennington would hustle the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge to the lead on lap 68 for the first time during the evening.  He would relinquish the lead just before the 100 lap mark for scheduled pit stops for fuel and tires.  “Everything was working according to plan, after that we just needed to make one more stop for right side tires a bit later” he stated.

Once again the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge found the front of the field as Kennington showed their dominance battling hard for the lead after the final round of pit stops.  “I race hard but fair” said the driver.  “I had another great battle going with the #84 car, it’s fun when we can race like that”.

On lap 225 Kennington would take over the lead for good and cruise to victory, his sixth win of the year in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge.  Win number six of 2012 for Kennington equals the series record for most wins in a single season.  The St. Thomas, ON driver has also equaled his own mark for most wins on oval tracks in a single season at five which he set in 2010.  This also marks the tenth occasion that Kennington has finished in the top five, setting a new series record.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver also extends his championship points lead to 23 markers over second place.  “This has been such an amazing year so far, but we’ve still got a little more work to do” said Kennington.  “We’ll be heading back to the shop to get ready for next week.  Once we finish the job then we can think about celebrating” he added.

DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team will compete in the final race of the season this coming Saturday, September 22nd at Kawartha Speedway.

You can watch the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race from Riverside International Speedway in High Definition on TSN on September 22nd at Noon Eastern time.

  • Jason White Runs Strong At Riverside

Jason White Runs Strong At Riverside

September 15, 2012. Antigonish, NS – Jason White and his crew flexed their smart decision-making skills at the Wilson Equipment 300 at the Riverside International Speedway on Saturday.

White and his #21 Bowers & Wilkins Dodge felt great from the start of the weekend with a quick vehicle to work with. White didn’t earn the qualifying position he hoped for, starting 10th, but he easily made the best of it.

#21 quickly moved up in the field, running consistently in the top ten all day.

White ran into a speed bump when he fell down a lap, but the Lucky Dog rule came to his rescue and he scored the free pass during a caution to get back on the lead lap.

The turning point came for #21 and his crew on their decision to pit.

“We decided to do all our service for fuel and four tires at once,” White explained after the race. “It was the right call – the car just came alive.”

White continued to run strong for the duration of the event, although he would have preferred to not have the couple of late cautions.

“Those late cautions didn’t help us, the car was better on the long green flag runs,” he said. “But all in all, a good day.”

White eventually finished in 7th place, up three spots from his 10th place qualifying start.

“Strong day for the Bowers & Wilkins team, we’ll take this momentum to Kawartha,” White said.”

After today’s race, White sits in 8th place overall with 345 points.

Jason White and the #21 Dodge team will compete in the entire 2012 NCATS schedule that will take the team from coast to coast in Canada for the 12 events.  The final race of the season takes place this coming Saturday September 22nd at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, ON.  For the latest news about Jason White and the #21 Dodge team check out the team website at www.jasonwhiteracing.com and be sure to follow Jason on twitter for the latest updates @racinjasonwhite  You can get more information about the NCATS series at www.hometracks.nascar.com
