Driver Quote: “Texas didn’t quite go the way we wanted, but I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s race,” said Bell.  “We are continuing to learn and get better each time we visit the race track, which is really encouraging.  Gateway is a fun track, and I’m looking forward to the challenge this weekend.”

  • GMS Racing NCWTS Gateway Preview

    GMS Racing NCWTS Gateway Preview

    JOHNNY SAUTER
    No. 21 Allegiant Chevrolet Silverado

    Gateway Stats
    5 starts, 5 top-5s, 5 top-10s

    Additional Info
    – Sauter will pilot GMS chassis no. 107, which was raced last year at Gateway to a fourth-place finish. The No. 21 team also utilized it in 2016 at Martinsville-1, New Hampshire and Phoenix. This is the first time this chassis will be
    used in 2017.

    – Following an eighth-place result at Texas Motor Speedway, Sauter now holds claim to six top-10s and five top-fives in the first seven races. His only finish outside of the top-10 came at Daytona International Speedway, where he was caught up in a last lap incident and relegated to a 15th-place finish.

    – Sauter leads the driver championship point standings by 40 points over Christopher Bell.

    Quote
“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Gateway. It’s certainly not an easy track by any means, but for whatever reason I’ve had a lot of success there. Having a win takes a little bit of pressure off of our team, but with that being said, I’d feel even more comfortable with a few more before we reach the playoffs. I can’t say enough about the work that everyone at GMS Racing and GMS Fabrication puts in to get these trucks running as well as they are. Because of that, I think you’ll see a lot more from GMS as a whole this season, not just the 21 team.”

    JUSTIN HALEY
    No. 24 Kingman Chevrolet Silverado

    Gateway Stats
    1 start in 2016. Started 15th, finished 21st.

    Additional Info
    – The No. 24 team will utilize GMS chassis no. 115, the same chassis Haley raced at Martinsville Speedway earlier this year. He ran as high as sixth place before getting caught in the back of the field late in the race following an unscheduled stop.

    – Haley earned his third top-10 of the season at Texas Motor Speedway in just his fifth start and sits 16th in the driver championship point standings.

    Quote
“Gateway is one of the trickier tracks we go to; turns one and two are sharp with a long, sweeping three and four. Usually you can get the set up figured out at one end but you’ll wind up being tight in the other. It’ll be tough to work out a perfect balance. We’re just going to have to stay a step ahead of the track all weekend and capitalize on the positive momentum we’re carrying over from Texas.”

    KAZ GRALA
    No. 33 Kiklos Chevrolet Silverado

    Gateway Stats
    1 start, 1 top-10

    Additional Info
    – Kaz will pilot chassis no.114 this weekend. Kaz raced this chassis earlier this season at Martinsville where he qualified 11th and finished 15th. Ben Kennedy also used this chassis six times last season in route to five top-10s, including his win at Bristol Motor Speedway.
    – After a 10th-place finish at Texas, Kaz is currently eighth in the driver point standings, with one win to his name.

    Quote
“I’m really excited for Gateway (Motorsports Park). It’s a neat little track. I got to run it last year in a truck and finished eighth. That was one of my favorite tracks that I got to run. Each end of the track has slightly different banking, one has curbing and one really doesn’t. You’re basically driving each end like it’s its own track. It’s a challenge for setup but at the same time, that’s what makes it interesting to drive.”

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Review: Texas Motor Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 12, 2017) – NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) veteran, Timothy Peters joined MDM Motorsports on Friday for the winstarononlinegaming.com 400 at Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, Texas). Peters and the No. 99 Metabo Chevrolet Silverado finished the evening with a 13th-place finish, but not without a wild ride in the final laps of the race.
Peters was reunited with his good friend and former crew chief Shane Huffman over the weekend, as Huffman called the shots atop the No. 99 pit box. The pair used Thursday’s three NCWTS practice sessions to work on the handling of the Metabo Chevrolet Silverado. After qualifying efforts on Friday, Peters started the race from the 14th position. He ran inside the top-15 for the entirety of the event, working his way inside the top-10 on multiple occasions. Coming to the white flag, contact with another race truck sent Peters spinning through the grass and ultimately upside down, in a violent, multi-truck crash. The veteran driver was uninjured and was credited with a 13th-place finish.
Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade handheld power tools and accessories for industrial, construction and welding applications, has long been involved in NASCAR, but this week marked the first time the company assumed the primary sponsorship role on a NCWTS entry. The relationship started as a business-to-business opportunity with Precon Marine, Inc., the Chesapeake, Va.-based marine construction company owned by MDM Motorsports principals Matthew Miller and Douglas Fuller. Together with managing partner Mark McFarland, a long-time competitor in NASCAR’s major touring series, the trio makes up the foundation of MDM Motorsports.
“I can’t thank Metabo enough for coming onboard with us,” Peters said. “It was fun to work with Shane (Huffman) again, and get into a rhythm this weekend. Thank you MDM Motorsports for building a safe truck, the guys worked hard and we were gaining on it all race long. We’ll rebound, and get them at Gateway.”
The NCWTS will head to Gateway Motorsports Park located in Madison, Ill., on Saturday, June 17, for the running of the Drivin’ for Linemen 200.
  • BELL RALLIES FOR WIN IN WINSTARONLINEGAMING.COM 400 AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

BELL RALLIES FOR WIN IN WINSTARONLINEGAMING.COM 400 AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

    By John Sturbin

FORT WORTH, Texas (June 9, 2017) – Christopher Bell, a self-described “dirt track kid” from Oklahoma, edged Chase Briscoe after a dramatic side-by-side, closing-laps battle to win Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winstaronlinegaming.com 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Bell, who started 21st in the 28-truck field, won under caution after a violent white-flag wreck involving Timothy Peters, Austin Wayne Self and Johnny Sauter on TMS’ repaved and re-profiled 1.5-mile oval.

A 22-year-old native of Norman, Okla., who calls TMS his home track, Bell earned his first at TMS, second of 2017 and fourth of his 37-race NCWTS career.

“First off, I want to make sure everyone is OK,” said Bell, driver of the No. 4 JBL Toyota Tundra fielded by Kyle Busch Motorsports. “It’s kind of a sorrow victory here in Victory Lane. That was a pretty bad flip and I’ve taken my fair share of flips and it hurts a lot worse whenever it’s in the grass like that one was, so I hope he’s (Peters) OK. That’s the most important part.

“But second of all, we’re in Victory Lane, so it’s just a dream come true to be able to win here in Texas – my hometown. All of the Tundras are built right here in Texas (San Antonio), so it’s a huge win for us, everybody at Toyota and Toyota Racing Development. Man, our JBL Tundra was super, super good.”

As Bell and Briscoe raced side-by-side for the win after a restart on Lap 166, Self’s No. 22 Don’t Mess With Texas Toyota spun and initiated contact with Peters exiting the dogleg and heading down the track’s frontstretch. Peters’ No. 99 Metabo Chevrolet Silverado spun and caught the infield grass, sending it airborne. The No. 99 wound up on its top, with track safety workers needing several minutes to extricate Peters once the wreckage was turned over.

Peters was evaluated at the track’s infield care center and released.

Briscoe was seeking his first series win and first for Ford this season. It appeared he was going to accomplish both after he took the lead from Bell on a restart following the night’s eighth caution from Laps 155-159. NASCAR’s scoring loop system determined Briscoe was in the lead on Lap 160 of 167 when the yellow again flew on Lap 161 for a three-truck incident in Turn 4. This time, Bell was able to edge Briscoe for the lead.

“I never saw the white flag,” said Bell, who led a race-high 92 laps. “I was concentrating on making him (Briscoe) slow down as much as I can. I didn’t think he had the lead whenever he got it and then I didn’t think I had the lead whenever I got it, so it’s just so tight, man. Me and Chase have known each other for a long time – we’re really good friends and met each other racing online whenever we were in our teens and now here we are racing in the Camping World Truck Series together.”

Briscoe didn’t question the scoring outcome involving his friendly rival. “It was close, I enjoyed it,” said Briscoe, driver of the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford. “I definitely wanted to get the win. But I was sleeping on couches two years ago and ever imagined I’d be here.”

Grant Enfinger finished third in the No. 98 Jive Toyota, with Ryan Truex fourth in the No. 16 H.E.B. Grocery Store Toyota. Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five in the No. 27 Safelite Auto Glass Toyota.

Bell began the night 52 points behind Sauter in the championship standings. The reigning series champion, Sauter finished eighth in the No. 21 Allegiant Travel Chevy and saw his lead over Bell trimmed to 40 points.

“This place has a special place in my heart,” Bell said of TMS. “We raced down here a lot with Micro Sprints at Devil’s Bowl Speedway (in Mesquite) and Kennedale (Raceway Park) but never at TMS. I was just a dirt track kid from Oklahoma, so to race here is a dream come true.”

  • Christopher Bell Wins Wild Truck Race at Texas

Christopher Bell Wins Wild Truck Race at Texas

Christopher Bell held on to win the winstaronlinegaming.com 400 after a wild finish at Texas Motor Speedway. This was his second series win in 2017 and his fourth career win in the Truck Series.

It was round seven for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the 2017 season. The race had three stages. Forty laps made up Stages 1 and 2, while 87 laps made up Stage 3. Noah Gragson and Johnny Sauter set the front row in qualifying earlier in the day.

After Stage 1 began, Noah Gragson had a strong truck early and led his first ever laps in the Truck Series. However, there were a few cautions that took place on Lap 3 for Austin Cindric and Lap 7 for Jordan Anderson. Barring a few cautions early, there were some long green flag runs.

Last week’s winner, Johnny Sauter, took the lead on Lap 20. From there, Sauter held on to win the Stage 1. Even after pit stops, Sauter won the race off pit road.

Stage 2 began on Lap 47, with Sauter and Chase Briscoe on the front row. With Sauter dominating most of the stage, Christopher Bell, after starting 21st, took the lead on Lap 70. Not much action happened in Stage 2, and Bell, eventually went on to win Stage 2.

Stage 3 took place on Lap 86, with Bell and teammate, Myatt Snider, on point. Long green flag runs were the story in the final stage until a caution came out with 50 laps to go for Stewart Friesen who hit the wall on the frontstretch.

After a restart with 43 laps to go, there were six laps of green flag racing until another caution took place for Snider, who spun off Turn 2.

Race leader Bell had to survive a few more restarts after having two more cautions on Lap 137 and on Lap 157. During those laps, Chase Briscoe had come alive to be a strong contender for the win.

With the restart taking place with eight laps to go, it looked like the race would stay green. However, Kaz Grala and Myatt Snider got together in a crash, thus bringing out a caution.

The restart took place with two laps to go, as Bell and Briscoe were the race leaders. Briscoe had gotten a little bit of an edge on Bell, but Bell stayed side-by-side with him until the final caution took place after the leaders crossed the finish line. The caution was for Timothy Peters and Austin Wayne Self who got into each other, sending Peters into the grass and causing him to flip several times before eventually landing upside down. After the crazy crash, Peters was able to walk away under his own power. He was evaluated and released from the Texas Motor Speedway infield care center.

However, there was another issue that was taking place and that was deciding the winner. Both Briscoe and Bell were in a dead heat at the finish line. After some confusion, and video reviewing by the NASCAR officials, NASCAR declared Christopher Bell as the race winner.

There were 10 cautions for 42 laps and five leaders among eight lead changes.

The next scheduled NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race is Saturday night June 17 at Gateway Motorsports Park.

  • NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Preview Texas – Spring

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Preview Texas – Spring

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to the Lone-Star state on Friday night for the seventh race of the season. There are 28 entries on the preliminary entry list this week.

Here are the ones to watch in tomorrow night’s winstaronlinegaming.com 400 race at Texas Motor Speedway.

In the last five spring races at Texas, there have been three different winners with Matt Crafton being the only repeat winner entered.

Matt Crafton – Crafton has posted two wins (2014, 2015) and five top-five finishes in the spring races at Texas. Considering his past performance at this track, look for another strong run Friday night.

Christopher Bell – In his only start at Texas coming last year, Bell suffered a blown engine and was credited with a last-place finish. Bell is looking for redemption at Texas and that could come tomorrow night. Bell has gotten off to a good start, posting the fastest speed in the first Truck Series practice Thursday evening.

John Hunter Nemechek – Nemechek was strong in last year’s spring race, posting a seventh place finish. However, when his father, Joe Nemechek drove the truck in 2015 and 2014, he posted one top-1o and one top-five finish. The NEMCO Motorsports stable is expected to have another decent finish at Texas.

Johnny Sauter – Sauter, the current Trick Series points leader, is coming off last week’s victory with a head of momentum. In June of 2012, Sauter won the spring race giving him three top-five and five top-1o finishes in the last five spring races. Expect him to be a strong contender at Texas on Friday.

Ben Rhodes – Rhodes is still searching for his first career win. He came close at Kansas earlier this season, which was a 1.5-mile track, the same as Texas. In the spring of 2016 at Texas, Rhodes posted an 11th place finish, thus giving him one top-15 finish.

Qualifying is slated for Friday at 5:35 p.m. ET. It will not be televised but you can follow along here. The green flag is expected to drop for the winstaronlinegaming.com 400  at 8:19 p.m. and will be broadcast on FS1.

Chad Kendrick joins Young’s Motorsports starting at Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH, Tex. – Set to compete in his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race of the season, Tyler Young (@tyleryoung02) heads to Texas Motor Speedway for Friday night’s winstaronlinegaming.com 400 with new crew chief Chad Kendrick.

Kendrick joined Young’s Motorsports this past Monday and will oversee the team’s truck program moving forward with former crew chief Andrew Abbott serving as truck crew chief and crew chief for the team’s developmental K&N Pro Series East program.

With the abrupt shutdown of Red Horse Racing, Young saw the opportunity to bring Kendrick aboard in hopes with his expertise and leadership he can propel the team forward as they focus to remain a mainstay in the Truck Series.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work with Chad Kendrick this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway,” said Young. “Chad has the knowledge to help Andrew in a lot of ways and I think with both working together our on-track performance will get better.”

Friday night’s race at Texas Motor Speedway is the first standalone race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season and Young, a native of Midland, Texas always hopes to come to the ultra-fast 1.5-mile speedway and do well, especially at his hometown track.

With Kendrick’s notebook and Abbott’s intuitiveness, Young feels a top-10 finish is feasible.

“I enjoy coming to Texas for a lot of reasons,” he said. “Not only is it my home track, but it’s a place where I enjoy racing. Texas is incredibly fast, but it has always been about handling. With the new asphalt, I’m not sure what to expect, but we’ll have three practices on Thursday to get our No. 02 Young’s Building Systems / Randco. Chevrolet dialed in and ready for the race on Friday night.

“It sure would be nice to have a good showing in front of all my family and friends.”

Eight of Young’s 72-career Truck Series starts have come in the heart of the Lone Star State and eyeing his fifth career top-10 finish, Young says he is still riding the momentum of his top-15 finish at Kansas Speedway last month.

His best finish at Texas came in back-to-back races in 2014 and 2015 where he steered his truck to 14th place finishes.

“The last couple of races haven’t been really good to us in Texas,” Young explained. “For one reason or another, we just couldn’t get the handling the way we needed too. With that being said, we learned a ton at Kansas and I really like the way the truck felt.

“I talked to Chad and we’re going to start there for practice on Thursday and see how the truck performs with the new asphalt. While it’s important to get the handling figured out, it’s equally important to remember that the three practices don’t really give an indicator of what we might expect in race conditions. It’s a curveball, but something we’re used to and nothing we can’t overcome.”

In 72 career NCWTS starts, Young holds four top-10 finishes to his credit with a career-best sixth at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February 2016. A sixth-place qualifying effort at Eldora Speedway in July 2015 is his best time trials effort to date. Young’s Motorsports has competed on the tour since 2012.
