MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 8, 2017) – Austin Wayne Self will join Niece Motorsports at Kansas Speedway, piloting the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado for the Friday night NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event.

“I’m excited to back to the track this weekend in Kansas,” said Self.  “Daytona was a great start to the season for us, and unfortunately the next couple of races didn’t quite go as planned.  I’m hopeful that we can have a solid weekend in the No. 45 Truck and bring home a good run.”

Self has made one NCWTS start so far during the 2017, earning a second-place finish in the season-opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Last season Self participated in the full NCWTS schedule, earning a top-10 finish (ninth) at Eldora Speedway.

Self also has 46 ARCA Racing Series starts, with a win coming at Winchester Speedway in 2015.  Additionally, Self earned 13 top-five and 30 top-10 finishes, and finished second in the championship standings in 2015.

“I’m extremely pleased with the progress our team is making this year, and I feel like partnering with Austin is another step in the right direction,” said Niece.  “We’re excited to get back to the track for another opportunity to get better as a team and have a strong run.”

Niece Motorsports, which is owned by Marine Corps veteran Al Niece, has competed in a partial schedule during the 2017 season, with plans of running full time moving into 2018 and beyond.

Niece owns Niece Equipment, which has for over 30 years provided clients with reliable products at competitive prices.  Niece Equipment’s reputation is built on service, integrity and dependability.  The company provides water and fuel/lube trucks that are engineered with quality and durability in mind for the construction and mining industry.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will take the green flag at Kansas Speedway on Friday, May 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Action sports legend Travis Pastrana will join Niece Motorsports for select events during the 2017 season, kicking off with a test on Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the No. 45 Chevy Silverado.

Pastrana’s most recent NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start came in 2015 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In addition to his NCWTS experience, Pastrana has one pole and four top-10 finishes in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, all coming in 2013.

    MORE: Travis Pastrana’s NASCAR stats

He’ll get behind the wheel of a NASCAR ride once again at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. ET on FS1 in the Las Vegas 350.

“I love NASCAR, and Las Vegas is always a good time, so I’m really looking forward to racing there later this season,” said Pastrana. “The seat time at Charlotte will be a huge help for me to get up to speed and for the team to get a solid base setup for when we show up to race later in the year. I’ve actually worked with several of the people on this team in the past. It’s a fun group and we have a good rapport.

“NASCAR is something that challenges me. I’ve done a lot of work over the past couple of years to try and improve my pavement skills. I’m racing my first full year of Rally since 2010, and I’m fresh off my first win in over a year, so it’s really exciting to be able to get behind the wheel again and see what we can do in the Truck Series.”

To get the week started, Pastrana will host an event in conjunction with K1 Speed in Concord, North Carolina from 6-7 p.m. ET, including autographs with fellow Niece Motorsports driver T.J. Bell. More information on the event can be found here.

Pastrana reunites with Cody Efaw, who served as his car chief in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 2013. In 2017, Efaw has assumed the role of crew chief of the No. 45 Chevy at Niece Motorsports.

“Any time you can team up with someone you’ve worked well with in the past, there’s obviously a level of comfort there,” said Pastrana. “I know the group of guys that Niece Motorsports has assembled is going to give me a great shot at running well.”

Serving as Pastrana’s primary sponsor for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be Weinerschnitzel. Additionally, Black Rifle Coffee Company, SilencerCo, Nitro Circus, Alpinestars and Palms Casino Resort will provide sponsorship support to the No. 45 team for the race.

Niece Motorsports, which is owned by Marine Corps veteran Al Niece, has competed in a partial schedule during the 2017 season, with plans of running full-time moving into 2018 and beyond.

“We are thrilled to have Travis behind the wheel this season,” said Niece. “He’s extremely passionate about NASCAR and committed to working with us to have the best run possible in Las Vegas.”

  • Toyota NASCAR Texas Advance

    Toyota NASCAR Texas Advance

    Toyota Texas NASCAR Advance
    Week of April 3-9, 2017

New Camry, Same Winning Tradition: Toyota is currently racing the new 2018 Toyota Camry in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) that was introduced alongside the new 2018 production Camry at the North American International Auto Show in January. In an unprecedented move, the new on-track Camry took to the track months before the 2018 Camry hits showrooms later this year – and Martin Truex Jr. captured the new model’s first win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. The introduction of the new Camry also coincides with Toyota’s 10th anniversary in the MENCS after Toyota and the Camry entered Cup Series competition in 2007. Since 2007, Camry drivers have won 96 races and are chasing their 100th MENCS victory in Toyota’s 10th anniversary year in the Cup Series.

Toyota’s Texas Home: Toyota is currently completing its move to Plano, Texas, and the relocation of its North American corporate headquarters and operations onto One Toyota campus. Toyota began its U.S. operations in California in 1957 and announced it was moving its national headquarters from Torrance, California to Plano, Texas in 2014. Toyota’s new Texas headquarters features an eco-friendly campus that spans 100 acres, will employ up to 4,000 team members, and is located about 300 miles from where the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma are produced in San Antonio. The new headquarters is expected to be completed in 2017 with move-ins starting from late April and continuing throughout the year.

Strength in Texas Numbers: With Plano set to be the new North American home for Toyota, it’s fitting the manufacturer’s most wins at any single facility have come at Texas – with a combined 30 victories across the MENCS, NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). Toyota drivers won the two most-recent Cup races at Texas – victories by Kyle Busch and former Camry driver Carl Edwards in April and November 2016, respectively – and have five total MENCS triumphs at the 1.5-mile track. In the NXS, Camry drivers have nine wins at the facility, while Tundra drivers have amassed 16 victories in Texas. Toyota’s new home track is located less than an hour from its new headquarters.

Sweeper Service: Busch won at Texas in the MENCS and NXS in April 2016, marking his second-consecutive weekend sweep at the time following Cup and NCWTS wins at Martinsville Speedway the prior week. In the Texas Cup race, Busch led one lap near the race’s midpoint before pacing the final 33 circuits (of 334) to the checkered flag after he passed his Toyota teammate Truex in a late-race restart. A day earlier, Busch dominated the NXS contest by leading 150 laps (of 200). Busch will only compete in the MENCS event at Texas this weekend.

Staying Connected: You can follow Toyota Racing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter by using #ToyotaNation and online at www.toyotaracing.com. For media images, please visit www.toyotaracingmedia.com.

Toyota at Texas – Notes & Numbers:

The three veteran Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) Camry drivers have multiple MENCS wins at Texas Motor Speedway … Busch won at the track in April 2013 and again last spring, while Denny Hamlin has swept both Texas Cup races in 2010 and Matt Kenseth won twice at the track prior to joining JGR and Toyota (April 2002, April 2011) … The JGR veterans each rank in the top seven in average finish at the track among active drivers … Kenseth is third in average finish (9.4), followed by Busch (11.6) and Hamlin (12), who sits tied with Toyota rookie Erik Jones, who finished 12th in his only prior Cup start at the track in Nov. 2015 … Jones will pilot the No. 20 Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the XFINITY Series at Texas, while Daniel Suárez will pilot the No. 18 Camry for the event … Jones won his first-ever career NXS race at the 1.5-mile Texas track in April 2015 … Busch leads the MENCS with 413 laps led and the Camry driver has led the most circuits in two of the last three Cup races.

  • Chase Elliott Wins Intense Truck Race at Martinsville

Chase Elliott Wins Intense Truck Race at Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — Chase Elliott was in the right place at the right time to take advantage of a late race spin and drive away from Johnny Sauter to score the victory at Martinsville Speedway.

The final stage was largely controlled by Christopher Bell until he made contact with Austin Cindric with less than 20 laps to go. Elliott, who was running in second, drove under him to assume the lead. He powered away from Sauter on the final restart to notch the win.

“It was fun today,” Elliott said after the race. “I had some help there with Christopher’s misfortune. I was trying all I could to get by him. He was doing a really good job of maintaining my bumper, a good job with me hitting him. His bumper was getting progressively more blue (the color of Elliott’s car) as the day went.

“It was a hard-fought battle, for sure.”

Bell, Noah Gragson and Matt Crafton rounded out the top-five. Gragson was the Sunoco Rookie of the Race.

Elliott led from start to finish in the first stage. But it didn’t come easy as teammate Sauter caught him, thanks to lapped traffic around lap 45, and pressured him for the lead until the caution flew for the end of the stage.

Bell exited pit road with the race lead, thanks to taking two tires, but lost it two laps after the restart to Sauter, who went on to win the stage.

He lost the lead under the caution to Bell, who led from lap 144 to 17 to go when he made contact with Cindric, setting up the final restart.

It was a typical caution-loaded race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Bryce Napier (lap 8) and John Hunter Nemechek (lap 118) blew engines during the race. Cody Coughlin made contact with Joe Nemechek in Turn 3 on lap 13 and both spun out. Ryan Truex turned Brandon Brown in Turn 4 on lap 91. Chase Briscoe and Gragson were involved in an incident that led to Gragson spinning out in Turn 2 on lap 101. Elliott sent Ross Chastain spinning in Turn 4 on lap 124. Kaz Grala made contact with Kyle Donahue, who clipped Briscoe and turned him in Turn 2 with 92 to go. Austin Hill made contact with Grala, who got into Harrison Burton and spun him in Turn 4 with 76 to go. Finally, Bell made contact with Cindric in Turn 1 with 17 to go.

The race lasted two hours, one minute and 38 seconds at an average speed of 64.867 mph. There were 10 cautions for 63 laps and four lead changes among three different drivers.

Sauter leaves Martinsville with a four-point lead over Bell.

  • Toyota Racing NCWTS Martinsville Burton & Peters Quotes

Toyota Racing NCWTS Martinsville Burton & Peters Quotes

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS)
    Martinsville Speedway – March 31, 2017

Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Harrison Burton and Red Horse Racing driver Timothy Peters were made available to the media at Martinsville Speedway:

    How special is Martinsville?
Timothy Peters, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing
“It’s real special because it’s home. Everybody in the garage area wants to do well at home. I was able to get my first win here in 09 and win in the late model race in 05, but more so we want to win now that they’re giving clocks to the truck winner. We were the last one not to get the clock before they started giving them away the following year, but at that point we were able to join the club, I guess you could say, and the win column was marked on our result page. I just love coming here. This place has a lot of history and now with the lights, it puts a little added twist on it. And who knows maybe today we’ll actually see vehicles on track under the lights.”

Harrison Burton, No. 51 DEX Imaging Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
“It’s pretty similar to Timothy. I have family that lives in South Boston, not too far from here, and it’s really cool to come here and have your whole family hanging out at the race track and to see your grandparents and cousins and friends that live up here. It’s a lot of fun. It puts that little bit more, not pressure, but I guess it makes it a little bit easier when you come here and know you have a great support system behind you and have all your family members rooting you on. It’s a lot of fun for sure.”

How important is it to have the segment points this season?
    Timothy Peters
“It’s really important. You know the stage wins are very important now because it carries playoff wins and also too being in the top 10 to get those regular season bonus points as well. Last year we didn’t get a win but consistency helped us get all the way to Homestead with the Chase, but you know with the points now still the win trumps points and you’re in. Win if you’re in. But also you just need that second win to solidify that spot. It’s more important than ever. Again, from Daytona, to here, to Homestead it’s always when it comes down to money time to try to get that green and white or the black and white flag. It always gets exciting. Our biggest deal is that we need to improve on our run from Atlanta. We took a brand new truck there and we ended up ninth. Felt like we had the capabilities of being in the top five. Coming here, again, we put Martinsville and Daytona in the same category of ‘things happen’. You get either behind the wall or you get taken away from the win. One example was we were here, I guess it was 2014, and had a good shot and a truck went through the grass and we were leading the race, first one to it and we ended up finishing sixth. With the bonus system now we would’ve got sixth-place points, but again those bonus points are more critical than ever that carry with all the way to Phoenix.”

What did you learn from the inaugural Chase that you’ll carry with you this season?
    Timothy Peters
“Just that a win is more important than being consistent for sure because you can get that win and try to transfer early and then you have the other two races to see if you can R&D. We never got that win so we constantly had to stay consistent and you really couldn’t have a bad run. I think throughout the Chase at Texas (October 2017) was our worst run and we finished 14th where we finished sixth in June earlier that year. It just really focuses a lot of importance on winning and going back and looking at it, you know that’s where myself included, I need to minimize my mistakes.”

How would feel about adding the ‘choose cone’ to the national series?
    Harrison Burton
“I think the choose cone brings an element to races that’s really really cool. My first race that I ever ran was with a choose cone at Ace Speedway. It’s a really cool element especially at places where the top or the bottom is significantly better. But I think there’s a level of confusion that goes with that as well to fans that are coming in and watching the race for the first time, they’ll say ‘why is the guy who was 10th now on the front row?’ I think that is something that if we choose to go in that direction, it will have to be hashed out and explained well to keep the fans up.”

    Timothy Peters
“I think it would be a pretty cool twist. Last week at South Boston we had two Late Models there racing with Brandon Pierce and Bobby McCarty and one example was that with the fresh pavement a lot of people didn’t really want to get up on the outside. Coming down to one to go, the cone was out, everybody was choosing the inside and we elected to ask him to take the cone and he went all the way to fourth on a green-white-checkered. I would rather have that track position of fourth and maybe have an outcome to finish fourth or fifth versus starting the race in seventh. It would be a good twist maybe to try it here but with the outside groove not working, I think it would probably be, if you had the cone and tried it here, let’s say you tried it with the trucks then I would say maybe put the VHT down up top, like Bristol has put in the lower groove, that way it gives that outside line a chance to race with the bottom line.”

What are your thoughts on NCWTS going to Las Vegas and potentially getting another race earlier in the season next year?
    Timothy Peters
“I think it’s great. I’d like to see the truck schedule get back to 25 (races) like it was years ago. I love going to Las Vegas. Don’t really spend a lot of time in the city. I just love the race track. I’ve had a lot of success there. We’ve been able to win. The older that the pavement gets, it still produces a lot of great races, has a lot of character with the bumps in (turns) one and two. I think it’s a good move to carry the trucks there and I think it’ll be some great racing. I understand the front of the schedule being gapped to try to help with finances for all the truck teams across the board, but I feel like maybe they’re too gapped. We’ve been off for three weeks and we race tomorrow and we’re off for five more. It’d be nice to have some races in there. I feel like truck racing is the best racing out there and not that nobody forgot about it, but you know five weeks is a long time. It feels like an eternity for me.”

Do you have any older drivers take you under their wing being so young?
    Harrison Burton
“For sure. I’ve got a great group of teammates with Christopher Bell being the most experienced of those guys. He’s really great about teaching me everything about the trucks and all that. But also I have a great support system with guys who have or are currently racing in the top level of our sport. I have obviously a great connection with my dad and he teaches me a lot week in and week out, not only about on the race track stuff, but just character and being your own person and all that great stuff. I also obviously have a great connection with Kyle Busch, he is obviously the team owner and it’s in his best interest for us to run well. I think that he’s really really great about coming down and helping us out. And another connection I have is Kevin Harvick. I’m a member of KHI management and that helps me a lot. Kevin is also just like my dad or Kyle or Christopher, just one text or phone call away and I have all these great resources and it’s definitely important for me to utilize it all.”

If you win the grandfather clock trophy tomorrow, where would you put it?
    Timothy Peters
“My mother claimed the 05 clock and so she has one. And my wife is really wanting one. You know, happy wife, happy life.”

    Harrison Burton
“Well I don’t have a wife to worry about, so I don’t know, I think it might be too heavy for my room. My room’s on the second floor of our house so it might fall through the floor. So somewhere down in my Dad’s trophy room. Maybe I can cover up one of his trophies and brag to him about it. We’ll see. We have to take it one step at a time and hopefully come in with the clock.”

KYLE DONAHUE, MB MOTORSPORTS SUPPORT BLUE LIVES MATTER AT MARTINSVILLE

    Driver: Kyle Donahue, donahue-motorsports.com, _kyledonahue_
    Team Info: mbracing.net, @MBMotorsports

WRIGHT CITY, MO- Kyle Donahue is set to make his second NASCAR Camping World Series start at Martinsville Speedway, just a few weeks before his 17th birthday. Donahue and his #63 Chevy Silverado crew will be supporting “Blue Lives Matter” in the Alpha Energy Solutions 200.

“I can’t wait to get back to the paper clip,” says Donahue. “Being able to race at Martinsville, with all its’ history, is a really cool experience. Making it even better is having some off duty police officers with us as we support Blue Lives Matter this weekend. These guys put their lives on the line to keep us safe, so this is our way of saying thank you.”

“Kyle has been doing an intense workout routine that includes running, weight training and a focus on his diet. He also joined the Lafayette Track team to run the 400. He has been brushing up on his driving in the off season on the race simulator too,” says team owner Mike Mittler. “He’s very serious about all aspects of improving his driving ability.”

Blue Lives Matter is run entirely by active and retired law enforcement officers. In today’s evolving society, an increasing number of citizens fail to accept responsibility for their actions and attempt to escape the consequences through outward blame. Due to the nature of the profession, law enforcement personnel are seen as easy targets and are consequently bullied by slander, illegitimate complaints, frivolous law suits, and physical attacks. The echo of these negative highlights by the media and political figures have only further damaged community relations, which has greatly increased the inherent threat of the profession. We desire to change these wrongs to law enforcement and once again shed positive light on America’s heroes to help boost morale and gain society’s much needed support.

Also supporting the #63 Chevy Silverado are Gateway Kartplex, Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool, MARADYNE® High Performance Fans, Mayhew Tool, Champion Brands, Reikken, Gaither Tool, Excel Bottling / Ski Soda, Timken, MechanixWear and WIX Filters.

The Alpha Energy Solutions 200 will be broadcast live on FoxSports1, MRN Radio and Sirius Channel 90 Saturday on April 1 at 3:00 pm ET.
