MB Motorsports #63 Preview: JACOB Companies 200 at Dover international Speedway

BOBBY PIERCE SET TO MAKE DOVER DEBUT FOR MB MOTORSPORTS

    Driver: Bobby Pierce, @BobbyPierce32, bobbypierceracing.com
    Crew Chief: Trip Bruce
    Team Info: mbracing.net, @MBMotorsports

Bobby Pierce is set to make his debut at Dover international Speedway in MB Motorsports’ #63 Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool / Champion Brands Chevy Silverado for the JACOB Companies 200.

“Not only will this be my first time at Dover, but it will be my first time racing on concrete,” says Pierce, who is coming off a strong run at Kansas Speedway, where he made his intermediate track debut.  “Each week I’m in a different situation.  Last week it was learning the ins and outs of a banked mile and a half asphalt track.  This week it’s the Monster Mile of Dover, where you’re racing on concrete, which means figuring out tire management on a totally different racing surface.  It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Bobby performed so well at Kansas,” says team owner Mike Mittler.  “We had a set back with having to go to a back up motor, but he didn’t let it phase him.  Each time out in practice and for the first half of the race for that matter, Bobby studied the track and what the other trucks were doing.  He just kept improving his lap times and towards the end of the race he was the third fastest truck on the track.  That’s a testament to his ability.  Bobby Pierce is the real deal.”

Joining Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool and Champion Brands on the #63 MB Motorsports Chevy Silverado are Kipor Power Equipment, MARADYNE® High Performance Fans, Reikken, Excel Bottling / Ski Soda, Mechanix Wear and WIX Filters.

“Bobby is amazingly focused,” adds Crew Chief Trip Bruce. “He is constantly analyzing track conditions, searching for the line that will cut his lap time, looking for an advantage.  I’m anxious to get to the track with him because he is such an astute student behind the wheel.  Dover is going to be exciting.”

The JACOB Companies 200 will be broadcast live on FoxSports1, MRN Radio and Sirius Channel 90 Friday, May 13th at 5:30 pm ET.  Two practice sessions will be broadcast on FoxSports1 on Thursday, May 12th at 2:00 ET and 4:00 pm ET. Qualifying will be broadcast at 2:00 pm am ET Friday.

    FAST FACTS:
    • The JACOB Companies 200 will mark Bobby Pierce’ fifth series start and his debut at Dover International Speedway.
    • This will be Pierce’ first race on a concrete track.
    • Pierce has a career best 2nd place finish in the NCWTS.

  • AUSTIN HILL EXCITED TO RETURN TO DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

AUSTIN HILL EXCITED TO RETURN TO DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Two-time Dover K&N Winner Makes Second NASCAR Camping Word Truck Series Start of the Season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 10, 2016) – Austin Hill is ready to make his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start of the season at Dover International Speedway piloting the No. 20 A&D Welding Ford F-150. With two wins in only four starts at the track, the NASCAR Next alum considers the 1-mile concrete oval his favorite track on the circuit.

“This race is probably the biggest race of the whole year for me personally because I’ve been there four times and won twice in the K&N Series there,” said Hill. “Getting a win at Dover and it being my first win in K&N, I obviously have to say that it’s my favorite track!”

Hill led more than 60 laps en route to each of his victories in 2013 and 2014 at Dover International Speedway. His 2015 starts at Dover showed strong runs but a blown engine in his K&N car and pit road woes in his NCWTS debut at the track derailed those efforts.

Hill has set high goals for himself and the team going into Dover, especially considering his previous success at the track.

“Going back with our own stuff in the Truck Series, I definitely think we’re going to have a shot at a Top-5, and hopefully we’ll be around at the end to sweep a win,” said Hill. “My goal going to Dover is to get a win with the success we’ve had and my experience there.”

Driving for a family-owned team with a partial NCWTS schedule this season, Hill has used the time off to grow the team and prepare for the upcoming races.

“This two month break has obviously been really big for us. We were able to build another truck and get things together so we’re 100 percent ready when it comes to Dover and Charlotte,” explained Hill. “We’re going to be on top of our game, we’re going to be really prepared for these upcoming races.”

However, the break in the schedule wasn’t all work. The 22-year-old celebrated a birthday and spent time with family,

“The time off has been nice. I did a lot of fishing with my dad and brother and hung out with Ashlyn (wife) and Lynnlee (daughter) a lot. At the same time about a month is all I can take,” said Hill. “After a month, I start itching real bad and I’m ready to get back to racing.”

Finishing well at Dover carries extra weight for Hill and his team, especially since his opportunities to win are limited this year.

“We don’t get to run as many races as the other guys this year so I really want to do well. Dover and Charlotte being back to back and then having another month off before the next race I really want to do well there so that month off I’m not sitting there banging my head against the wall. I’m really excited about Dover and I think it’s going to be a fun race.”

The NCWTS race will take place on Friday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. ET at Dover International Speedway. Fans can follow Hill on social media for updates at Austin Hill Racing (Facebook), @_AustinHill (Twitter) and/or _austin_hill_ (Instagram).

    ABOUT AUSTIN HILL
Austin Hill, a Winston, Ga. native, is driven to become the next big name in NASCAR.  The 22-year-old is driving a partial schedule in the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, securing a Top-15 finish in his one start this season. Hill earned a third-place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Championship in only his second full-time season in the series. Hill is a two-year member of the NASCAR Next program, a program designed to cultivate and promote the sports’ next generation of superstars. Over the past two years, Hill has secured four NASCAR K&N victories and 12 Top-5 finishes. Hill started his racing career at the age of six in Quarter Midgets.  He won the 2002 Quarter Midget championship at his hometrack in Cumming, Ga. and went on to excel in Bandolero, Legends Semi-Pro Series and Pro Late Model Series racing. Hill currently resides in Mooresville, N.C. with his wife, Ashlyn, and daughter, Lynnlee.

  • William Byron’s Win Proves Kyle Busch Picks Most Talented Drivers

William Byron’s Win Proves Kyle Busch Picks Most Talented Drivers

When William Byron began his first full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, he was expected to have a few good runs throughout the season. The 18-year-old already had a championship under his belt when he won the 2015 K&N Pro Series East championship driving for HScott Motorsports in partnership with Justin Marks, so he had already proven he had the talent needed to win in one of NASCAR’s biggest series.

It took him five starts, but at Kansas on Saturday, he managed to hold off two-time series champion Matt Crafton for his first series win. With that win, Byron validated KBM owner Kyle Busch’s decision to sign him, and Byron became another shining star on the rise in NASCAR. Currently lined up with rookie teammates Cody Coughlin and Christopher Bell, Byron’s KBM predecessors include current XFINITY Series superstar and five-time race winner for KBM’s truck program Bubba Wallace and 2014 Rookie of the Year/truck series champion Erik Jones.

A lot of the success could be credited to the Joe Gibbs Racing engines that the KBM Toyotas receive, but let’s not sell the drivers short. Jones and Bell may be champions and Wallace may have been a multiple-time winner, but Coughlin comes from a long line of racers and has more than a few years experience in stock cars, while Bell, a former dirt standout, won at Eldora last year in his third truck series start.

How Busch came across Jones is a great example of how the KBM drivers are graded in regards to potential. In the 2012 Snowball Derby held at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Jones was able to hold off Busch to score his first win in the prestigious event. Busch immediately made a move to sign Jones to his race team, and it paid off within a year as Jones scored his first series win, then two years later scored his first championship.

With Byron, it may not be something as dramatic as Jone’s big break, but it’s obvious Busch saw how fast the kid is. He’s been fast all through the 2016 season, and although he had a shaky start at Daytona and an engine failure at Atlanta, he’s been mounting an excellent title offense and now that he’s solidly in the Chase, he can focus on getting more wins and bettering himself as a driver. With that, Byron could place an emphasis on being a championship threat and carrying on that winning heritage at KBM.

William Byron was up front when it mattered in the end to score his maiden victory in NASCAR in America’s heartland.

The driver of the No. 9 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota took advantage of Ben Rhodes getting into race leader Johnny Sauter going into turn 3 on the final lap to win the Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway. It’s the first career victory in the Camping World Truck Series for the 18 year old out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Matt Crafton led a race high of 57 laps on his way to a runner-up finish in his No. 88 ThorSport Racing Toyota. Daniel Hemric rounds out the podium in his No. 19 Brad Keselowski Racing Ford. Christopher Bell led five laps on his way to a fourth-place finish in his No. 4 KBM Toyota. Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-five in his No. 24 GMS Racing Chevrolet.

Ryan Truex finished sixth in his No. 81 Hattori Racing Enterprises Toyota. Cole Custer finished seventh in his No. 00 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. Timothy Peters led one lap on his way to an eighth-place finish in his No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota. Ben Kennedy finished ninth in his No. 33 GMSR Chevrolet. Spencer Gallagher rounded out the top-10 in his No. 23 GMSR Chevrolet.

The race lasted two hours and 21 minutes at an average speed of 108.511 mph. There were 19 lead changes among nine different drivers and 11 cautions for 47 laps.

Peters leaves Kansas with an eight-point lead over Hemric in the point standings.

Townley’s Jive Oh Five Set for Kansas Speedway

Kansas City, Kansas (May 5, 2016) – John Wes Townley will sport a new look on his No. 05 Athenian Motorsports Chevrolet during Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 250 mile event at Kansas Speedway.
