  • Robby Lyons joining forces with Reaume Bros. Racing for Talladega Truck debut

Robby Lyons joining forces with Reaume Bros. Racing for Talladega Truck debut

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 9, 2018) – After starting the year behind the wheel of the No. 15 Chevrolet Silverado for Premium Motorsports, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) rookie Robby Lyons has joined Reaume Bros. Racing aboard the No. 33 Sunwest Construction Chevrolet in a collaborative effort with Bruce Cook and Chad Finley Racing (CFR) for Saturday’s Fr8Auctions 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

A native of Seminole, Fla., Lyons has competed in seven Truck Series races this season, finishing all but one. In his Daytona debut, he qualified 25th but progressively drafted forward and avoided the late chaos to earn a season-high 13th place finish, a second-best result in nine overall starts.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back in a truck, especially at Talladega,” said Robby Lyons. “This race track means a lot to both me and my family. Back in 2005, we attended the spring Xfinity and Cup races at Talladega and the next day, my life would change forever.

“I was in a scary motorcross accident that left the doctors wondering whether I’d even walk again. Through sheer determination, a little hard headedness and countless prayers from friends, family and the racing community, I was able to make a full recovery and prove the doctors wrong.

“I am so happy to get to race at Talladega, especially knowing the deep personal impact this place has had on me.”

Knowing what he learned in his superspeedway debut at the “World Center of Racing” in Feb., the Floridian hopes to showcase his restrictor plate skills once again and contend for his first career top-10 finish.

“I’m confident I’ll be taking the No. 33 Sunwest Construction Chevrolet Silverado to the front thanks to the hard work and preparation by Bruce Cook and my whole team. I also want to thank Josh Reaume and everyone at Reaume Brothers Racing for giving us a chance to go racing and chase a trophy.

“The truck is fast, and I cannot wait to get down to Talladega and give it all we have.”

Lyons is expected to compete in at least one more Truck Series race this season following Talladega with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.”

Josh Reaume, co-owner of Reaume Bros. Racing and a Truck Series competitor says his organization is thrilled to have Lyons drive their No. 33 Chevrolet this weekend and hope his family-owned team can earn some time in the spotlight.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Robby this weekend! He has worked very hard to put himself in a position to succeed at Talladega,” said Reaume. “We are looking forward to getting back on track after a three-week break and can’t wait to watch Robby push his way to the front.”

In nine career Truck Series races, Lyons has earned a best-finish of 12th at ISM Raceway (Phoenix) in Nov. 2017, while also qualifying a career-best 20th in the same event. In 2018, the 29-year-old has finished a season-high 13th at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Follow Robby Lyons on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for updates throughout the weekend.

The Fr8Auctions 250 (94 laps | 250.04 miles) is the 19th of 23 races on the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck schedule. Practice begins on Fri., Oct. 12 from 9:05 a.m. – 9:55 a.m., while final practice is set for 10:35 a.m. – 11:25 a.m. Qualifying is set for later in the day beginning at 4:35 p.m. The 32-truck field will take the green flag the next day, Sat. Oct. 13 shortly after 12:00 p.m. with live coverage on FOX, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90). All times are local (Central).

  • NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Preview – Talladega

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Preview – Talladega

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series resumes action and continues their Playoff run this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

Currently, there are 36 trucks on the preliminary entry list.

Here’s a look at who might wind up in victory lane on Saturday and there could be a possible upset.

    1. Parker Kligerman – Kligerman is the recent and defending winner of this race. In four races, he has two wins in 2012 and 2017, three top fives and three top 10 finishes. Kligerman also has an average start of 12.8 and an average finish of 8.5. He led three laps en route to his second victory and finished 10th in Stage 1. While you could consider him an upset, Kligerman has run up front the past few races.

    2. Johnny Sauter – Sauter excels as a superspeedway racer of late. He scored the victory at the season opener at Daytona in February. At Talladega, he has nine starts, one win in 2013, three top fives and five top 10 finishes, along with an average start of 13.0 and an average finish of 10.2 with one DNF. Sauter won both stages last year after starting second but wound up finishing 12th. He’s led 47 laps in his career at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. Keep an eye out for Sauter and the No.21 GMS Racing team this weekend.

    3. Grant Enfinger – Enfinger has recently been strong at Talladega. It was the site of his first career win in 2016. Since then, he has collected two top fives and two top 10 finishes. Enfinger has an average start of 11.2 and an average finish of 9.8, along with 62 laps led and one DNF. He finished fourth in last year’s race after finishing 10th in Stage 2. He’s already locked into the next round with his recent victory at Las Vegas.

    4. Timothy Peters – Peters is back in the No. 25 GMS Racing Chevy this weekend. At Talladega, he has eight starts and two wins (2014, 2015) among four top five’s and five top 10 finishes. Peters has an average start of 15.6 and an average finish of 10.0. His last start came two years ago in 2016, where Peters started sixth and finished third after leading 14 laps.

    5. Myatt Snider – Snider could surprise the field this weekend by scoring his first ever Truck Series victory. In his lone start in 2017, Snider started ninth and finished third after finishing fifth in Stage 1 and third in Stage 2, respectively.

There have been 12 races at Talladega for the Truck Series. The first one coming back in 2006, when Mark Martin was the inaugural winner. Since then, Todd Bodine, Kyle Busch, Mike Wallace, Parker Kligerman, Johnny Sauter, Timothy Peters, and Grant Enfinger have all visited victory lane.

Of those winners, Bodine, Busch, Peters, and Kligerman are the only ones to have repeat wins. Peters and Kligerman are the only repeat winners entered.

The lowest a race winner has ever come from was 26th in 2014 set by Timothy Peters. The highest a race winner has come from was the pole three times, set by Martin in 2006, Bodine in 2007, and Peters in 2015.

There have been some close finishes at Talladega since the first race back in 2006. In 2007, Todd Bodine beat Rick Crawford to the line by .014 seconds. In 2008, Bodine won again by .074 seconds over Ron Hornaday Jr. In 2009, Kyle Busch made a last lap pass on Bodine and Aric Almirola by .057 seconds. The same happened again in 2010 with Busch edging Almirola by .002 seconds, the closest finish since then for the Truck Series at Talladega.

In 2011, Mike Wallace won, beating Hornaday by .057 seconds. 2012 saw Kligerman passing James Buescher on Lap 93 to win under caution. 2013, Johnny Sauter took the checkers by passing Ross Chastain on Lap 94 to win under caution. In 2015, Peters passed Brandon Jones on Lap 97 to win back to back. In 2016, Enfinger won by .107 seconds. Kligerman won last year’s race by taking the lead on Lap 94 and was scored the victor as the caution came out.

It will be a busy day on Friday for the truckers.

The first of two practices is scheduled for 10:05 a.m. ET with the final practice slated for 11:35 a.m. ET, all on FOX Sports 2. Qualifying will take place later in the day at 5:35 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2 with a tape-delayed version on FOX Sports 1 at 9:00 a.m. ET.

Live coverage begins with race day on FOX at 12:30 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:10 p.m. ET on FOX and MSN Radio.

Successful Night in Vegas for Cody Coughlin Thwarted by Lady Luck

    Date: Friday, September 14, 2018
    Event: World of Westgate 200
Series: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
Location: Las Vegas Motor Speedway (1.5-miles)
    Start/Finish: 15th/24th (Accident, completed 134 of 144)

STATESVILLE, N.C. (September 15, 2018)-After heading to the west coast this weekend for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS), Cody Coughlin was ready to duplicate his success from his spring trip to LVMS earlier this season.

Continuing his streak of qualifying within the top-15 in four starts at LVMS, Coughlin lined his No. 2 God Bless the Broken Road Chevrolet Silverado up in the 15th position for Friday night’s race. Getting shuffled back a couple positions at the start of the race, a quick caution on lap five lined the field back up double-file allowing Coughlin to get a good jump, moving from 17th to 11th. Maintaining his position for the next 18 laps, Coughlin crossed the finish line at the end of Stage One in the 11th position. Under the stage break, crew chief Doug Randolph called Couhglin down pit road for four tires, fuel and both air pressure and chassis adjustments to help aid in a Chevy that was tight on exit.

Picking up a position on pit road, Coughlin lined up 10th for the start of Stage Two on lap 38, but with many trucks running three and four-wide, Coughlin made the smart decision to lay back and keep his nose clean until the caution came out on lap 47. Still fighting a tight sensation, Coughlin was one of a handful of drivers to come to pit road under the caution, getting two left-side tires, a chassis adjustment and a splash of fuel for his God Bless the Broken Road Chevy. Restarting 27th on lap 50, Coughlin made quick work making his way through traffic, racing his way to a 13th-place finish in Stage Two. Coming back down pit road under the stage break, Coughlin got two right-side tires and another splash of fuel.

With various pit strategy taking place, Coughlin’s No. 2 was on the front row for the restart on lap 67 for the final stage of the race, lining up in second in the low line. Unfortunately, Coughlin’s Chevy didn’t grip well in the bottom groove when the green flag was displayed and slipped back to 10th once he was able to regain control. Able to grab two of his positions back, Coughlin was scored eighth when the caution came out on lap 84. Coming to pit road for the final time of the night, the No. 2 Chevy got four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment before rejoining the field for the restart on lap 90 in 11th-place. Determined to make up the rest of the ground lost on the previous restart, Coughlin methodically began working his way through the pack, reaching seventh place with 25 laps to go. However, the caution flag came out on lap 114 and stalled his momentum. Not long after, caution came out on lap 122 and again on lap 131, setting up a green-white-checkered attempt with Coughlin lining up ninth. Fighting hard on the restart, Coughlin unfortunately got spun and did his best to save his truck, but ended up tagging the wall. Coming to the attention of his No. 2 team on pit road, the team assessed the damage and made repairs before sending Coughlin back on track. However, the damage proved to be too much for the No. 2 to continue, ending Coughlin’s night early with a 24th-place finish.

“We had a great race going until we were taken out,” Coughlin said. “It’s really disappointing. Our guys did a great job this weekend and we had a great God Bless the Broken Road Chevy tonight.”

The NCWTS will take a few weeks off before returning to action at Talladega Superspeedway for the third and final race of the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs on October 13th.
