STATESVILLE, N.C. (April 29, 2019) – Kyle Benjamin will pilot the No. 45 Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports in seven NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) events during the 2019 season.

Benjamin’s first start with Niece Motorsports will come at the Series’ second visit to Texas Motor Speedway on June 7.

“Kyle has been successful in everything he’s run,” said General Manager Cody Efaw. “We are excited to have him on board and are looking forward to running strong with Kyle and hopefully contending for some wins.”

Benjamin’s impressive resume includes multiple wins in the ARCA Racing Series. In 23 starts, he earned three wins, three poles, nine top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishes.

“I’m excited to get back to the Truck Series, especially with Niece Motorsports,” said Benjamin. “This team has had an incredibly strong start to the 2019 season, so I feel fortunate to continue to build on that momentum and hopefully put together some solid finishes.”

By the age of 19, the Easley, South Carolina native, had earned five wins in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, including three victories from the pole position.

Following Texas Motor Speedway, Benjamin will return to action at Iowa Speedway, on June 15, the site of one of his K&N victories.

Benjamin will also take the wheel at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, Pocono Raceway, Michigan International Speedway, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and in the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The 21-year-old driver has two NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series starts to his credit, both coming last season at Martinsville Speedway. He did not start outside of the top-five in either event, earning two top-five finishes, including a runner-up finish in the spring, and leading a combined total of 80 laps.

Additionally, Benjamin has eight starts under his belt in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, coming in 2017 and 2018. In those eight starts, Benjamin earned two poles; qualifying in the top-10 in seven races and in the top-12 for all eight. He earned two top-five and three top-10 finishes in those eight starts and led multiple laps in half of those starts.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will take the green flag from Texas Motor Speedway on Friday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET.

  • Decker Adds Races to 2019 Gander Outdoors Truck Series Schedule

Decker Adds Races to 2019 Gander Outdoors Truck Series Schedule

N29 Technologies picks up six additional Gander Trucks races with Decker

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 9, 2019)- DGR-Crosley announced today the addition of six races to Natalie Decker’s Gander Outdoors Truck Series schedule.

The 21-year-old Eagle River, Wis. native, joined DGR-Crosley’s driver development program earlier this year with plans of running 11 Gander Trucks races. With the support of her longtime partner N29 Technologies, Decker will now be piloting her No. 54 Toyota Tundra in 17 races throughout the season.

Decker’s Gander Trucks schedule for the remainder of the 2019 season is as follows: Dover International Speedway, Kansas Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Gateway Motorsports Park, Chicagoland Speedway, Kentucky Speedway, Pocono Raceway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz., and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Decker has three Gander Trucks starts under her belt in 2019. Her first start at Daytona International Speedway ended in a fiery crash. After a rough debut in Daytona, Decker and her N29 Technologies team went to the 1.5-mile tracks of Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway and Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway where they finished 24th and 13th respectively.

“I’m so excited to add more races with DGR-Crosley,” said Decker. “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be with this team. David [Gilliland] does such a great job with putting the right people in the right positions, and I’m learning so much and enjoy working with Frank [Kerr, crew chief] and all my guys. I didn’t think that I would be racing this much this year in the Trucks, but I’m so excited that we are. I love competing in the Truck Series – it’s challenging but so fun. Looking forward to continuing to learn as much as possible and putting together solid finishes. This year is all about learning and getting experience.”

Team co-owner David Gilliland thinks the added races will be beneficial to Decker and her young career.

“I think it’s great that Natalie and N29 Technologies have decided to pick up more races this season,” said Gilliland. “Seat time is so important, and we see her progressing and learning every race. She has a great team of people helping her, and consistently keeping her in the seat is going to be very beneficial.”

Decker’s next race will be on May 3 at the one-mile track of Dover (Del.) International Speedway.

  • Short Tracks Return to NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Slates as Part of 2020 Schedule Announcement

Short Tracks Return to NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Slates as Part of 2020 Schedule Announcement

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 3, 2019) – NASCAR today announced the 2020 schedules for both the NASCAR Xfinity Series™ and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series™, and both include a return to race tracks that were part of the original schedule for each series – venues that have been absent from the respective slates for more than a decade.

For the first time since 2006 – and only the second time in the last 25 years – the Xfinity Series will race at Martinsville Speedway, and the stakes have never been higher. Expect tempers to flare, and emotions to boil over. With a final chance to lock up a spot in the Championship 4, Martinsville will serve as the final Playoff cutoff race in all three national series. The Gander Trucks will race at The Paperclip on Oct. 30 under the lights, with the Xfinity Series making its return on Oct. 31.

Likewise, Richmond Raceway plays a prominent role in both schedules. The Gander Trucks will return to Richmond for the first time since 2005, while the newly-renovated raceway will play host to the regular season finale in the Xfinity Series to set the field for the 12-driver Playoff field.

“The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series were both built on short track racing, and it is important that short tracks remain a prominent part of our series schedules,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR managing director of racing operations and international development. “We returned to our roots in many ways with today’s announcement. Martinsville and Richmond were part of the original Xfinity and Gander Trucks schedules, and we’re excited for their return as part of a strong overall slate.”

As announced as part of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series schedule unveil, ISM Raceway near Phoenix will host the Championship Race for all three national series. ISM Raceway underwent a significant renovation, transforming the gem in the desert into one of the premier facilities in all of sports.

Xfinity Series drivers will hit the ‘road’ a little earlier in 2020, as Mid-Ohio moves up in the schedule to May 30. Two new cutoff races will face the Xfinity Series drivers during the Playoffs, with the Charlotte Roval (Oct. 10) and Martinsville set to pare the field from 12 to 8 to 4.

Gateway Motorsports Park will host the Playoff opener for the Gander Trucks on Aug. 21, part of a postseason reshuffle that will feature two new cutoff races. The Round of 8 will culminate with a race at Bristol Motor Speedway (Sept. 17), and the Round of 6 will end with Martinsville.

Once again, both series will open at the ‘World Center of Racing,’ Daytona International Speedway. The Gander Trucks kick off their season on Feb. 14, with the Xfinity Series following on Feb. 15. Both series will then immediately head west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, joining the Cup Series in that marquee market.

Both series will also take part in the historic Cup Series double-header at Pocono Raceway, for what will be a must-see national series quadruple header. The Gander Trucks will race on Saturday, June 27, with the Xfinity Series on June 28.

For fans worried about missing NASCAR racing during the two-week Cup Series break for the Olympics, fret not. The Gander Trucks will have their annual fan-favorite event at Eldora Speedway dirt track on Thursday, July 30. The Xfinity Series will fill the void during the second weekend with short-track action at Iowa Speedway (Aug. 1).

Broadcast times and networks for all three series will be announced at a later date.

  • Self issued Substance Abuse Policy penalty

Self issued Substance Abuse Policy penalty

    By Staff Report | NASCAR.com

Driver Austin Wayne Self has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy, NASCAR announced Monday.

Self was found to have violated Section 12.1 (actions detrimental to stock-car racing) and Section 19 (NASCAR’s substance abuse policy) of the 2019 NASCAR Rule Book, according to the NASCAR penalty report.

Self has made 66 career starts in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series from 2016-19, including three this season. He has one career top-five finish and five career top 10s, including a ninth-place run in this year’s season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway driving the No. 22 Chevrolet.

Self, 23, must complete the NASCAR Road to Recovery program before reinstatement.

AM Racing — the Gander Trucks organization owned by Self’s father, Tim — issued a statement after Monday’s penalty news.

“AM Racing respects NASCAR’s decision and will follow their direction,” AM Racing’s statement read. “We expect Austin Wayne Self to return to the seat as quickly as possible. AM Racing will continue to operate as normal with a determination of a driver lineup set in the coming weeks. We expect to emerge from this challenge as a stronger team.”

  • Codie Rohrbaugh grabs new crew chief in time for Martinsville Truck Series debut

Codie Rohrbaugh grabs new crew chief in time for Martinsville Truck Series debut

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – After the heartbreak of missing the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last month, CR7 Motorsports has tapped Doug George to lead the team ahead of Saturday’s Martinsville 250 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway with driver Codie Rohrbaugh.

George, a longtime NASCAR veteran crew chief joins CR7 with a wealth of knowledge and a winning history – a valuable asset to the Mooresville, N.C.-based team.

Rohrbaugh an accomplished short track racer from Petersburg, West Virginia looks to impress with George at his side in his first NGOTS race of 2019.

“Daytona was tough, but that’s history and we’re focused forward,” said Rohrbaugh. “We’re excited to have Doug join the team and be a strength to our growing operation.

“I’m eager to get to Martinsville and some good ole’ short track racing and put our No. 9 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet Silverado in contention for a strong finish.”
In two NGOTS starts last season, Rohrbaugh made his series’ debut at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, another short track where he successfully qualified into the field before charging to a respectable and career-best 16th place run.

This weekend, the 25-year-old hopes for more of the same with the leadership of George and general manager Mark Huff.

“We have some really smart guys on this team with a lot of heart and dedication,” added Rohrbaugh. “It’s our goal to go to Martinsville this weekend and have a solid recovery and get some momentum for our next race at Texas Motor Speedway next weekend.”

When it comes to Martinsville, Rohrbaugh has been studying film and participating in iRacing events to help him prepare for his third career series start.

“I know Martinsville is a rhythm track,” Rohrbaugh sounded. “We need to find our footing during practice on Friday and then work on that for qualifying and the race on Saturday. I’d say if we can come out of Martinsville with a top-15 finish, that’d feel like a win for us.”

Following Martinsville, CR7 Motorsports plans to compete at Texas Motor Speedway before returning to the ARCA Menards Series next month for the General Tire 200 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway on Apr. 26.

In 19 career ARCA starts, Rohrbaugh has a best finish of seventh twice at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (July 2018 and Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (February 2019). He has qualified a career-best fourth on four different occasions including at Kansas Speedway (Oct. 2018).

Marketing partnership(s) opportunities are available for the No. 7 Grant County Mulch Chevrolet and No. 9 Grant County Mulch Ford for the 2019 ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series seasons and beyond. • NASCAR Truck Series Rookie Anthony Alfredo Partners With Friends of Jaclyn Foundation

NASCAR Truck Series Rookie Anthony Alfredo Partners With Friends of Jaclyn Foundation

Mooresville, NC, March 8, 2019 (Newswire.com) –  2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series rookie Anthony Alfredo is excited to announce a partnership with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation (FOJ), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for and improving the quality of life for young children battling brain tumors and pediatric cancer.

The Ridgefield, Connecticut racer and student at UNC-Charlotte, made his Truck Series debut with DGR-Crosley at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weeks ago and raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend.  As excited as he is to have kicked off what is expected to be a 13-race schedule in the Truck Series this season, he is equally excited in a much different way to make a difference through his work with the FOJ.

“Forming this partnership with Friends of Jaclyn is a huge opportunity for me to continue utilizing my racing program to do good for others,” Alfredo, part of the 2018 NASCAR Next class, explained. Much like what I’ve been doing with JDRF raising awareness for Type 1 Diabetes, I will now help raise awareness for pediatric cancer patients battling brain tumors and more, helping Friends of Jaclyn achieve their mission of improving the quality of life for these young children and their families. I never thought I’d be in the position to help raise awareness for such serious life challenges and put smiles on so many young kids’ faces. I am very thankful and looking forward to growing this partnership in the years to come.”

Reflecting on his first two starts in the Truck Series, Alfredo said he was pleased with the performances, if not necessarily the results.  “I have had the opportunity to run in the top ten, which is obviously really good considering these were my first two races in the series. But we’ve had some issues like a loose wheel forcing us to pit under green with under 10 laps remaining at Las Vegas that have kept our results from being as strong as they could have been. I have learned a great deal about racing the trucks and how I want our Toyota Tundra to handle in a race.

When asked what he would expect at Texas Motor Speedway when he starts his next Truck Series race, he responded, “I believe Texas is a cross between both Atlanta and Las Vegas which should help us. David Gilliland, our team owner, also ran well there last year before he blew a right front tire when he was preparing to pass the leader. I feel confident heading into the race because of everything I have learned in my first two races, and because with each race we run, the relationship between my team and me grows stronger and I learn more about what the Truck needs from me as a driver.  I have no doubt that we’ll progress each race and have opportunities before the season’s over to run for top fives and maybe even some wins. I’m excited that I can bring the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation along for the ride and use the opportunities I have been given to lift others up and give back.”

Alfredo has more information about the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation on his website at www.AnthonyAlfredo.com.  Just look for the “Racing For A Cause” tab on the navigation bar.

Alfredo’s next start in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will be on Friday, March 29 at the Texas Motor Speedway.  The Vankor 350 is scheduled to start at 9 pm Eastern time and will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 and broadcast live on the radio at www.GoPRN.com.
