COREY HEIM CAPTURES 10TH CAREER TRUCKS VICTORY, FIFTH OF 2024, AT POCONO
Toyota Development Driver dominates 70-lap race at the “Tricky Triangle”

LONG POND, Pa. (July 12, 2024) – Corey Heim and his No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota Tundra TRD Pro were the class of the field Friday afternoon in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway, which resulted in his fifth trip to the winner’s circle in 2024, the most in the series this season, and the 10th win of his Truck Series career. Heim led 55 of the 70 laps run on Friday and swept both stages on the way to victory. The stage wins give Heim six this season, also the most in the Truck Series.

The Georgia native started from the second position with qualifying canceled Friday afternoon, but fell back on the start, before driving back up the order swiftly and winning Stage 1 after 15 laps. And even with weather delays, including a red flag, towards the end of the race, Heim never looked back and snatched the checkered flag by the race’s conclusion.

Heim’s teammate, Taylor Gray, had an impressive drive from the 19th starting position to finish fourth, his fourth top-five and eighth top-10 of the season. Joining him inside the top-10 were Stewart Friesen in seventh and Dean Thompson in ninth.

The Truck Series returns to action next Friday, July 19, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Coverage begins on FS1 at 8:30 p.m. EST.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: Winner

How good was your truck today?

“Yeah, no doubt. Another week, another good truck with these TRICON Garage guys. They do such a good job week in and week out, bringing me fast Tundra TRD Pros. Today was no short of that. I feel like it was the truck to beat today, all the way through practice and if we qualified, would’ve been right there. And of course in the race, we put it to them today. Such a good feeling when you have trucks as good as these and you can manage a race like that. It was crazy with the rain and the fuel mileage and all that stuff, but we overcame it and are here in victory lane.”

What was that last restart like (after the red flag)?

“Just a lot of emotion with getting out of the truck and having to reset. But again, so thankful for Safelite, Toyota Racing, TRICON Garage. Without them, I wouldn’t be here right now, so it’s an awesome day for us.”

At the start, you fell back a little bit. When did you know you had a strong truck today?

“Probably by the end of the first lap (laughs). Yeah, Rajah (Caruth), thought he pushed me there, but he ended up splitting me three-wide, but I probably would’ve done the same thing. Able to route and gauge our way back to the front, and within three or four laps, I think we were leading again, so wasn’t a big deal. Just such a great day for our TRICON Garage boys.”

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 Place of Hope Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 4th

Take us through your race today.

“ Yeah, we really had the truck to do it all day. Got caught up with some strategy stuff. We were really on target to just go for a race win and had some troubles on pit road, so got a little behind. But, have to thank my TRICON (Garage) guys for bringing me a fast Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. Feel like if we could’ve gotten some clean air and a little more track position there, we would’ve finished a little better. But good job to Corey (Heim). They were really fast all day. Just have to keep working and get back on track.”

JJS is one of the largest providers of Pekin duck to the restaurant industry across the nation and in select international markets.

Moffit, who is moving over to Young’s Motorsports with his partners beginning this weekend, is proud to support an American brand with local roots.

“It’s amazing to think what Joe Jurgielewicz and Son has done with their brand,” said Moffitt.

“From their farm in Pennsylvania, they are serving their ducks in restaurants from Asia, Mexico and right here in the United States. Once we partnered with them this season, we knew they were determined to tell their story to NASCAR fans. That is what we have been doing, and we will now do it in a big way.

“This is why I am proud to be carrying their brand this weekend at Pocono with Young’s Motorsports. This is their home state, and we want to show them a fun time.”

Thad Moffit Joins Young’s Motorsports for Second Half of NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 9, 2024) — Thad Moffitt will have a fresh start to the remainder of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season, beginning immediately.

The rookie driver will race for Young’s Motorsports in a No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado this weekend at the Pocono Raceway and throughout the remainder of the season.

Moffitt has amicably split with Lane Moore, owner of Faction46.

Moffitt will retain his familiar No. 46 livery with Young’s Motorsports and is looking forward to the remainder of the season.

“This is the reset that I need,” said Moffitt. “I have raced for Tyler and Young’s Motorsports in the past and we have a great relationship. He has made this transition easy for us, and he has the team and equipment for us to go to Pocono and immediately have a great race. This was a quick move for everyone, but I feel good about it.”

Moffitt will also continue his strong marketing program and partnerships with Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen, Customers Bank, Pristine Auction, Joe Jurgielewicz and Son – America’s Tastiest Duck, Induction Innovations, LEER, Window World and more.

“Our partners are the true people powering my racing,” continued Moffitt. “We have a responsibility to them to have the best program possible and we needed a change to make that happen. We are going to continue to work with all our partners for the remainder of this year and continue to grow with them next year.”

Moffitt and Young’s Motorsports will debut this Friday night at the Pocono Raceway.

Moffitt will have Joe Jurgielewicz and Son – America’s Tastiest Duck as his primary partner on the truck and is looking forward to the new challenge.

“This will feel a little bit like Daytona this weekend,” mentioned Moffitt. “Everything will be a little bit new for us as a team with new people. But it’s exciting, too. We have a great program and now it’s time to really show what we can do. The new team gives me a lot of hope of some great finishes for the rest of the season.

  • Layne Riggs and the No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150

Layne Riggs and the No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150

    Pocono (Pa.) Raceway Competition Notes

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 9, 2024) – Layne Riggs reunites with Infinity Communications Group as the duo looks to make their debut at the Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.

After a short break from the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series action, Riggs and the team look to bounce back after a difficult Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway race. Riggs, who is making his debut at the 2.5-mile track, will also debut a new Patriotic paint scheme on the No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150.

Riggs leads the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings, sitting 16th in Driver Points and just 80 points below the playoff cutline.

It will be a one-day show for the Truck Series with practice and qualifying on Friday, July 12th at 2:00 pm ET. The CRC Brakleen 175 is schedule for later that evening at 5:30 pm ET. Fans can watch the race live on FS1 or listen in from the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM channel 90.

No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150:

    DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of Pocono. It’s another one of those tracks that I have never raced at before, so sim time and studying film has been extra important. We have shown a lot of speed these past couple of races, we just haven’t been able to get the finishes we deserve, but I have a good feeling about Pocono. We’re actually bringing the same chassis that we had at Darlington. I know it will be fast, we just have to execute and run a clean race.

“Infinity Communications brought the heat with this paint scheme. It’s awesome. As an American company, Fourth of July is an important holiday for them and it’s an honor to carry this scheme. Hopefully I can show it off with a solid performance and result.”

    CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:

“Pocono will definitely be a challenge, they don’t call it The Tricky Triangle for nothing. We’re prepared though. We had a week in between Nashville and Pocono to double check everything and make sure we’re bringing our best to the track. I’m confident we’ll have speed, we just have to execute and stay out of trouble.”

Ford Performance NASCAR – Pocono Raceway Advance

    POCONO

    Friday, July 12 – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 5:30 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, July 13 – NASCAR XFINITY Series, 3 p.m. ET (USA)
Sunday, July 14 – NASCAR Cup Series, 2:30 p.m. ET (USA)

Pocono Raceway will host a NASCAR tripleheader this weekend, which will be led off by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Friday evening. The series has only three races remaining in the regular season and currently Ty Majeski and Ben Rhodes are in playoff positions. The NASCAR Xfinity Series will run Saturday with the Cup Series main event set for Sunday afternoon.

    BUESCHER ON THE BUBBLE

With six races to go in the NASCAR Cup Series regular season, four Ford drivers find themselves in the playoffs while another, Chris Buescher, is squarely on the bubble. Race winners Brad Keselowski, Austin Cindric, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano have secured their spots while Buescher holds the 16th and final position, 45 points above the cut line.

    CINDRIC MAKING 100TH CUP START

Austin Cindric will be making his 100th career NASCAR Cup Series start this weekend at Pocono Raceway. The Team Penske driver, who got behind the wheel of the famed No. 2 Ford at the start of the 2022 season, has qualified for the playoffs in two of his three years. He won the 2022 Daytona 500 in his rookie season and then captured his first pole one week later in Fontana, CA. Overall, Cindric has eight top-5 and 17 top-10 finishes.

    BLANEY GETS FIRST CUP VICTORY

Ryan Blaney earned his first NASCAR Cup Series victory in 2017 at Pocono Raceway, giving the Wood Brothers their 99th all-time series win. Blaney held off Kevin Harvick over the final seven laps to win the Pocono 400 after overcoming a loose wheel only 19 laps into the event. He found himself in position to win after the caution came out with 19 laps to go. Kyle Busch opted to stay out while all of the other contenders behind him pitted, including Blaney who got four fresh tires and restarted fourth. A major battle between Busch and Blaney resulted, but the newer tires proved to be too much as Blaney eventually got by with nine laps to go. He couldn’t breathe easily, however, as Harvick started to reel him in, but could never pull alongside to challenge.

BUESCHER JOINS FIRST-TIME WINNERS CLUB AT POCONO

Chris Buescher is another Ford driver who posted his first NASCAR Cup Series win at Pocono when he won the rain-shortened Pennsylvania 400 in 2016. Buescher led the final 12 laps and qualified for the playoffs as the scheduled 160-lap race was called after 138 circuits. It represented the second series win and first playoff qualification for Front Row Motorsports, which Buescher drove for in 2016 after the organization entered into an alliance with what was then Roush Fenway Racing.

    ELLIOTT SWEEPS IN 1985

Ford reached victory lane at Pocono Raceway in the NASCAR Cup Series for the first time on June 9, 1985 when Bill Elliott beat Harry Gant to win the Van Scoy Diamond Mine 500. Elliott was able to pass Gant with 11 laps remaining, shortly after a restart, to claim Ford’s first win at the facility. Elliott, who also started on the pole, was helped by four cautions over the final 25 laps and won for the sixth time as he led 32 of the 200 circuits. It marked the front end of what would eventually be a season sweep for Elliott at Pocono as he won a few weeks later on July 21.

    KULWICKI’S FINAL WIN

When Alan Kulwicki won the Champion Spark Plug 500 on June 14, 1992 it marked the final victory of his NASCAR Hall of Fame career. Kulwicki, who was voted into the Hall in 2019, passed Bill Elliott with 11 laps remaining to cap a day that saw 15 cars drop out before the checkered flag flew, including 11 engine failures. In a precursor to what happened a few months later at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Kulwicki and Elliott battled down the stretch as they exchanged the lead multiple times over the final 25 laps. Kulwicki passed Elliott for the top spot on lap 181, but traffic slowed him down to the point that five laps later the two swapped positions. Mark Martin made it a three-way battle, but Kulwicki ultimately prevailed as he got by both drivers on lap 190 and never looked back. Kulwicki, who won five series races overall, went on to win the championship later that year over fellow Ford drivers Elliott and Davey Allison.

    CUSTER EXTENDS POINTS LEAD

Cole Custer may still be looking for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the season, but the defending champion’s consistency has resulted in him owning the top spot in the point standings with eight races to go in the regular season. Custer saw his streak of five straight top-10 finishes come to an end in Chicago last weekend, but he was still able to increase his points lead from 15 to 38.

    BLANEY MULTI-CLASS WINNER

As previously mentioned, Ryan Blaney earned his first Cup Series victory in 2017 at Pocono. He is also the only Ford driver to win in multiple classes at Pocono, as he earned his second career Truck Series victory there in 2013. Blaney overtook the field during a chaotic restart going into Turn 1 with two laps remaining and held on to take the checkered flag.

  • Niece Motorsports Tabs Conor Daly to Three-Race Deal in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series

Niece Motorsports Tabs Conor Daly to Three-Race Deal in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series

Salisbury, NC (July 9, 2024) – NTT INDYCAR SERIES veteran Conor Daly eyes a return to NASCAR as he rejoins Niece Motorsports for a limited schedule in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. He will drive the team’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST entry in three events this season.

Daly, a native Hoosier from Noblesville, IN, will attempt to make his first start at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday, July 19. Having made several starts at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Daly has only competed once on the short track on the other side of town – a race that he won in what it now called the Indy Pro 2000 Series, in 2010.

The 32-year-old has competed in some of the world’s most prestigious racing events, including the Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500, and 24 Hours of Daytona, but considers competing in stock cars as one of the most fun disciplines in his diverse career. His NCTS campaign will also see stops at Kansas Speedway on September 27 and Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 26.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back into a truck with Niece Motorsports!” said Daly. “Al Niece and Cody Efaw have always been great to me and supportive of my Indy 500 efforts as well over the years as we’ve got to know each other. We’ve been working on putting a program together for a while and I’m happy we could finally work out the details to go racing together once again. I have a lot to learn but I want to compete and I know these guys will give me a great chance at that. I am extremely thankful to have some great partners in Power Plus to make this happen. Everyone from Power Plus have been super willing to help out when I need it most and I love representing for them.”

Power Plus will serve as Daly’s primary sponsor for his first Truck Series start this season. The company is a nationwide provider of specialty electrical and power related services including Generator Service, Maintenance & Installation, Temporary Power, Designed Video Surveillance and Generator Rental/Disaster Response services. Additional partnership announcements for Daly’s NASCAR efforts will be made at a later date.

“Power Plus is thrilled to be partnering once again with Conor Daly and this time in the NASCAR Truck Series,” said Steve Bray, Founder & CEO of Power Plus. “One of the things we love about Conor is his enthusiasm, tenacity and passion for winning…both on and off the track. Whether it was in the P1 Boat races, in the dirt racing side by sides, or at the Indy 500, Conor exemplifies what it means to be a fierce competitor. We appreciate Conor’s perseverance and humility and we are proud to be associated with his winning attitude and his man-of-the-people persona.”

This won’t be the first time that this driver/team pairing has worked together, as Daly has made a total of three prior starts with Niece Motorsports since making his series debut in 2020. It will, however, be the first time in his career that he will make multiple Truck Series starts in the same year.

“Conor has been great to work with every time he’s stepped into one of our trucks,” said Cody Efaw, Niece Motorsports General Manager. “It’s been fun to see his interest in NASCAR grow since he made that first start with our team in Las Vegas a few years ago. Now that we have him secured for multiple races this year, I think that will give him a chance to go out there and learn each week to get better for his upcoming starts.”

Despite having limited experience, Daly has been apt to increase his presence in various NASCAR series. Recently, he made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Mid-Ohio, where he finished eighth. He has made scattered starts across the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Truck Series over the past handful of years. All three of his NCTS starts came in Niece Motorsports fielded trucks.

In this year’s running of the Indianapolis 500, Daly ran up front and nabbed his fourth top-10 finish of the race, leading 22 laps en route to a 10th-place showing for Dryer & Reinbold Racing. At the time of this news, that remains his lone INDYCAR start of the season.

Indianapolis, Kansas, and Homestead-Miami will be the first races where Niece Motorsports enters the No. 44 Silverado RST. The team primarily fields the No. 41, 42, and 45 entries on a full-time basis in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Daly will be paired with veteran crew chief, Wally Rogers.

When he’s not behind the wheel, Daly co-hosts a weekly podcast for Dirty Mo Media labeled Speed Street, which dives into stories from the INDYCAR paddock. Speed Street is available for streaming on all major podcasting platforms. Be sure to follow Conor on social media for a behind-the-scenes look into his career on and off the racetrack.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series heads to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday, July 19 for the running of the TSport 200. Live coverage of the race will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 8:30 PM ET. Visit niecemotorsports.com for the latest news and team updates.

No. 41 DQS Solutions & Staffing Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Bayley Currey | Crew Chief: Cody Efaw
    Bayley Currey
    @BayleyCurrey
    @BayleyCurrey05

    • Currey’s Pocono Stats: Bayley Currey has made four CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at Pocono Raceway since 2018, and made his first start with Niece Motorsports at this track the following year. His best race result is a 16th-place finish in 2020, and he finished 37th last year due to engine issues. Currey has also competed in one Cup Series race and two Xfinity Series races at “The Tricky Triangle”.
    • Niece Motorsports Pocono Stats: Niece drivers have combined to make a total of 20 starts at Pocono Raceway, with stats tallying one win (Ross Chastain, 2019), two top-fives, and three top-10 finishes. In 2023, the team’s best finish was delivered by Carson Hocevar, who ran 11th.
    • On the Truck: Currey’s No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from DQS Solutions & Staffing along with Masked Owl Technologies. This race was not originally slated as a primary race for either of these partners, but was picked up after Nashville.
    • Recapping Nashville: Currey and the No. 41 team were optimistic for a solid result following their top-five finish in last year’s race at Nashville, but faced brake issues that hindered their result. Currey started the night off in 20th, but passed a handful of trucks in stage one, and eventually worked into the top-10 before the issue plagued the team. Forced to pit, only having rear brakes functioning, the team would have to settle for a 29th-place finish.
    • Points Rundown: Currey’s misfortunes over the last three races have dropped the driver a few positions in the standings, and the team is looking to get back on track. Following Nashville, Currey slid back to 19th in points, now seven markers behind Ty Dillon in 18th.
    • Quoting Currey: You made your first start for the team here five years ago. What do you remember about that experience compared to how it is today?

“It’s been really cool seeing this whole group grow together, honestly. I remember where the team was before my first start for them in 2019, starting in the shop where they were at with only two trucks. Now, we’re in a way bigger shop and have three full-time trucks. There’s a lot of stuff that we do in-house where it wasn’t like that when I first got here. It’s been great to see all the progression that Al (Niece) and Cody (Efaw) have made over those five years, and I’m excited to go back to Pocono this week with that group.”

    • Quoting Efaw: It’s been a bit of a rough stretch the past few weeks for the No. 41 team, so how do you plan on getting them back on track?

“I feel like this group has had speed at most of the races this year, but there have been issues – some in our control and some out of our control – that have hurt the finishes. We’ve just got to get back to the basics, really. We know Bayley has a ton of talent, last year showed what he can do in the right situation; and we know our trucks are capable of running up front. If we can just put together a smooth weekend and erase some of the mistakes, I think that will be a huge confidence booster for everyone. I’d love to get that started here this weekend at one of our good tracks. All these guys on the team and our partners deserve it, and I’m confident we can do it together.”

No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Jon Leonard
    Matt Mills Racing
    @MattMillsRacing
    @MattMillsRacing

    • Mills’ Pocono Stats: Matt Mills has made one prior NCTS start at Pocono Raceway in 2017, but was forced to park with an early exit due to mechanical issues. Mills also made four Xfinity Series starts at this track before and finished as high as 23rd in 2021. He did not enter any races held at this 2.5-mile tri-oval over the past two seasons.
    • Leonard’s Pocono Stats: Jon Leonard has called three Truck Series races at Pocono Raceway and posted his best result last year while working with Christopher Bell, who finished in fourth. Leonard also made one Cup Series start as a crew chief here in 2018 with Kasey Kahne.
    • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra.
    • Recapping Nashville: Despite having to start in the rear due to a steering issue in practice, Mills and the No. 42 team rallied back to earn their second top-10 finish of the season at Nashville Superspeedway. Mills overcame a pit road penalty early on and the J.F. Electric crew made solid adjustments throughout the race, putting him in position to capitalize. He crossed the line with an eighth-place result, nabbing the “hard charger” award in the process.
    • Points Rundown: Mills’ streak of gaining points positions continued after the last race in Nashville, where his top-10 bumped him up to 22nd in the driver standings. Since the eighth race of the year in Kansas, Mills has picked up one spot in points after every start, now making it six weeks in a row.
    • Quoting Mills: This is one of the shortest races all year in terms of laps, so does that raise your intensity level?

“Yeah, I’ve never really been able to run a truck here before, but it’s all going to be about track position. The straightaways are so long and the trucks punch such a big hole in the air, so that’s going to be tough to learn and figure out how to time your runs and keep momentum. It’s another good track for us at Niece Motorsports, so I’m going to go there with a good mindset to learn as much as I can from my guys.”

    • Quoting Leonard: How do you manage the balance of downforce (drag), and being trimmed out here?

“I think you need both here to be fast. I think you need drag-out with the big straightaways, but you need to be able to get through the corners, too. These trucks are still lifting out of the gas in all three corners, so you still have to build a good amount of downforce and find that good balance of being able to qualify well and not hurt the race trim. It’s a bit of a strategy/track position race, so you have to find that middle ground and not put your eggs all in one basket.”

No. 45 Mar-Del Watermelon Association Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Ross Chastain | Crew Chief: Phil Gould
    Ross Chastain
    @RossChastain
    @RossChastain

    • Chastain Returns: Ross Chastain will make his fourth start of the season behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet on Friday. Chastain hasn’t been in the seat since North Wilkesboro as he shared the ride with Kaden Honeycutt and Connor Mosack. He picked up the team’s ninth win at Darlington Raceway in May, making it two top-fives in three starts. Ross will drive this truck in next week’s race at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for his last planned start of the year with Niece Motorsports.
    • Chastain’s Pocono Stats: In five Truck Series starts at Pocono, Chastain has gathered one win, two top-fives, and four top-10 finishes. His win in 2019 marked Niece Motorsports’ third NCTS victory in team history which capped off his three-win season. He has also made five Xfinity Series starts at the track and finished in the runner-up position in 2020. Through eight Cup Series starts, Chastain’s best finish at the track is 13th, which came last year.
    • Gould’s Pocono Stats: Phil Gould has also made five Truck Series starts on top of the box at Pocono, highlighted by two top-fives including his win with Chastain in 2019. Last year, Gould’s team finished 11th with Carson Hocevar at the wheel. Gould made three starts here in the Xfinity Series, posting a best run of 14th with Ryan Reed in 2018.
    • On the Truck: Chastain’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from the Mar-Del Watermelon Association and will promote the “Eat Mardelicious Watermelon” campaign.
    • Recapping Nashville: A great showing by Kaden Honeycutt was cut short due to mechanical gremlins in Nashville. Honeycutt’s AutoVentive / Precision Vehicle Logistics Chevrolet was fast – having qualified eighth and climbed as high as third before a rear gear seal went bad on his truck. He was credited with a 33rd-place finish after having spent numerous laps behind the wall.
    • Owner Points Outlook: The No. 45 team’s rear gear issue in Nashville significantly affected their position in the owner points, dropping from seventh to ninth overall. With three races left in the regular season, their primary focus is on maintaining their spot in the Playoffs to fight for the owners’ championship. Entering Pocono, the team has a three point gap to the cutoff line.
    • Quoting Chastain: With there being only two starts left in the Truck Series for you, how bad do you want to go back to victory lane before your season ends?

“Everyone on the crew wants to make it back to victory lane, but I think for us on the No. 45 team, the most important thing we need to do is execute in both of these races to get as many points as we can. We all love winning, but for me, what would feel just as good would be to keep Al (Niece) in the fight for the owner’s championship. I’m not able to run any truck races during the Playoffs, so my goal is to help with some good runs before I pass the baton off to Kaden (Honeycutt) and Connor (Mosack) as they finish out the year.”

    • Quoting Gould: Pocono’s a track where you can make different strategy calls at, but with your points position in mind, how aggressive can you truly be?

“Well, since Ross is driving for us, I think we can be really aggressive with the strategy. Since he’s racing for Cup points, even if he was to go out there and win a stage, we wouldn’t be able to get any of the Playoffs points from it, so I think we have to do what’s best to be in position to win the race. We’ll basically be no holds barred there in trying to capture another win and make up points.”

About Mar-Del Watermelon Association: Established in 1965, the Mar-Del Watermelon Association is an organization that works to increase demand for Maryland and Delaware watermelons and the agriculture industry for their farmers, brokers, and industry suppliers. The voluntary, elected board of directors strives to make a positive difference in the business and lives of its members while working closely with National Watermelon Association and National Watermelon Promotion Board.

Eckes Dominates Rackley Roofing 200 Craftsman Truck Series Race

Christian Eckes led every lap of the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway to score his third win on the season

LEBANON, Tenn. — Christian Eckes led every lap of Friday night’s Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway to score his third win on the season and make an early statement that he will be one to contend with in the upcoming NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoffs.

“This is a badass truck, man,” Eckes said after the race. “I can’t say enough about these (McAnally-Hilgemann Racing) guys. I feel like we should’ve won at Gateway and we came up short there. We were really motivated to get this one.”

Eckes started the race in third place and quickly moved past pole winner Stewart Friesen and second-place starter Grant Enfinger as he exited turn two of the 1.33-mile oval. He led the opening lap in his No. 19 Chevy and never looked back.

“I don’t think I’ve ever done that in any race period,” Eckes said about leading every lap. “To do that is pretty awesome and to have a dominant truck like that is cool and I’m so proud of the effort that the guys on this team are making.”

In the process of winning, Eckes also pocketed the $50,000 bonus for winning the final leg of the three designated events in the lucrative Triple Truck Challenge. Eckes, who also won a blue custom Gibson guitar to commemorate the victory, says the money and custom trophy are very cool, but winning for him is the main thing.

“I’m more excited about the win,” Eckes said. “This was our worse racetrack last year so that made this win extra special. It shows everything about our owner and the team.”

Eckes-teammate Dye was pumped about his second-place finish in his No. 43 Chevy and title-contender Corey Heim was third in his 11 TRICON Garage truck.

“It’s great to see Daniel running so well,” Eckes said. “He gave me a little run for the money there. The 11 seemed to have the most pace for us overall, and he pushed us hard through the night.”

Heim was dejected after a tough night.

“I don’t know that we were better than the 19, but it was hard to tell when we got in dirty air,” Heim said. “This is by far the worst I’ve felt in dirty air in a while in a truck race. I feel like the 43 was kind of in the way and we were a lot better. We just couldn’t pass; the groove never widened out. If you put the 19 back a spot or two I think we could have raced for it, but at the end of the day, we finished third and that’s that.”

Dye was thrilled with his career-best effort.

“Confidence is so important when you are driving a race car,” Dye said. “Christian drove away, but at the end I feel like we were running similar speeds. Our team made good changes and worked really well together. What a crazy feeling. Just how cool it is that my name is on the jumbotron for qualifying. I’m close to crying, but I didn’t win. I have to save the tears for when I win.”

FOX television personality and retired Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer started 11th but finished 17th after getting caught up in a fender-bender during Stage 1 of the race in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy.

“We fought loose the whole time. It’s that same old story, we would fix something and it would hurt something else,” Bowyer said. “They all checked up and I crashed. It’s as simple as that. I don’t know what happened, but I will be back. There is no way in hell I’m ending on that note.”

Frankie Muniz, star of various popular television shows including “Malcolm in the Middle” made his Craftsman Truck Series debut in the race and completed 130 of the 150-lap race at the controls of his No. 22 Ford Performance Ford to finish 31st in the final order.

“It’s been a frustrating year for me, but this is the first time this year I feel like I had a lot of fun in the truck, even though we did have an issue,” Muniz said. “Some people went through the grass and I had a ton of stuff on my grill. My water temp was 300, so we came in. It took forever to get it cooled down. We went down a bunch of laps. I found myself in that position, ‘how hard do you push?’ We’re 19 laps down and they’re kind of saying ‘push,’ but I didn’t want to wreck it or ruin somebody else’s race when we were kind of out of it. This was a lot of fun. That’s what it was about. Sure, on paper it probably doesn’t look like it was great. I don’t even know where I finished. It doesn’t matter. It’s what I needed, to kind of run with people. I was battling people most of the race. That felt good, just to feel like I still could run with other guys.”

Rajah Caruth finished fourth and was followed by Tyler Ankrum, Enfinger, Ben Rhodes, Matt Mills, Ty Majeski and Jake Garcia in the top 10.

Saturday’s schedule includes qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series Ally 400, and the Tennessee Lottery 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race is scheduled to take the green flag at 4 p.m. CT. On Sunday, the Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT.

    Stage 1: 15th
    Stage 2: 11th
    Finish: 29th
    Driver Points: 19th
    Owner Points: 23rd

    • Key Takeaway: Bayley Currey and the No.
    • Bayley Currey’s Post-Race Thoughts: “We had a good truck tonight. Missed it a little bit in qualifying which put us behind the eight ball at the start, but we were able to make our way up inside the top-10 before too long. Unfortunately, we had a brake part issue that resulted in us losing all our front brakes. That sucks, because all I had pretty much were rear brakes for the last half of the race. It really stinks, because I knew we had a fast truck and felt like we were going to have the good weekend that we’ve needed to have. Our DQS/Masked Owl Chevy was awesome tonight; I thought if that didn’t happen, we could continue to work our way up, but that’s just the way it goes in racing. It feels like that’s how our season has been – every time we have a good run going, something bad happens. All we can do is keep digging, so I’ve got to say a big thank you to all the guys at Niece Motorsports.”

    Owner Points: 26th

    • Key Takeaway: Despite having to start in the rear due to a steering issue in practice, Matt Mills and the No.
    • Matt Mills’ Post-Race Thoughts: “Pretty good night for us considering we had to start dead last after not being able to post a qualifying lap. We knew based off our teammates that we were going to have a good truck. It was hard to get a good read of our balance and what we had before the race, but once we started to get some runs in, I felt like it came to us and we started to click them off. We were up to the top-20 by the end of stage one, but got a pit road penalty which set us back. We still had a good truck to get all those spots back and more, but just fought it being a little too loose towards the end of the race. But overall, with everything we had to overcome, I’d say it was a really good run for us and hopefully we’ll be able to keep building on it for the rest of the year. Huge thank you to J.F. Electric, Utilitra, and all my supporters tonight.”

    • Key Takeaway: A great showing by Kaden Honeycutt was cut short due to mechanical gremlins in Nashville. Honeycutt’s AutoVentive / Precision Vehicle Logistics Chevrolet was fast – having qualified eighth and climbed as high as third before a rear gear seal issue went bad on his truck. He was credited with a 33rd-place finish after having spent numerous laps behind the wall.
    • Kaden Honeycutt’s Post-Race Thoughts: “Man, what a tough break for us tonight. My guys brought me another amazing truck, and I thought we really had a chance to contend for the win. That got cut short way too quick. I started to smell gear oil – then we completely ran out of it at the end of stage one. I knew it was only a matter of time until we would have to pull in. Ended up breaking a rear gear seal and went down a bunch of laps there. The positive thing we can take away from tonight is that we had a great truck, and hopefully that’ll help our notes for next time we come here. I’m appreciative of everyone at AutoVentive, Precision Vehicle Logistics, and Niece Motorsports for their support this weekend. We’ll be better next time I’m in the No. 45 Chevy.”

HEIM CONTINUES STRONG PERFORMANCE, LEADS TOYOTA IN NASHVILLE
The Toyota Development Driver earns ninth podium finish in 13 races this season

NASHVILLE (June 28, 2024) – Corey Heim finished third to lead Toyota in the NASCAR Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday evening. Heim, who has locked his spot in the NASCAR Truck Series Playoffs, has now finished top-three in nine of the 13 races this season.

Tanner Gray battled back multiple issues throughout the day, including contact with the wall in qualifying and being involved in a lap two incident. His TRICON Garage team battled back, and Gray was able to move up to finish 14th and hold onto the final spot in the provisional Playoff field. Gray continued his streak of finishing every race this season inside the top-20.

Stewart Friesen started from the pole for the first time aboard a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. He ran most of the race inside the top-10 before a late-race pit stop to address a loose wheel. The Canadian was able to drive back through the field to finish 11th and leave just 17 points out of a Playoff berth, with three races to go in the regular season.

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 3rd

Can you describe your race tonight?

“Yeah, kind of screwed that one up. I don’t know if we were better than the 19 (Christian Eckes), but it’s hard to tell when he never got into dirty air. This is by the far the worst I’ve felt in dirty air in a while in a truck race, just feel like the 43 (Daniel Dye) was in the way. We’re a lot better than them, just couldn’t pass at all, the groove never widened out. Definitely disappointing. Proud of TRICON Garage, Toyota Racing, Safelite for bringing a fast truck again. Just couldn’t go anywhere. Put the 19 back a spot or two, think we could’ve raced for it, but at the end of the day, finished third and that’s that.”

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 Caden Ingram Foundation Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 34th

What are your thoughts on the incident?

“Yeah, it is what it is right? We can’t do anything about it now. I don’t know. I’m sure we will have a conversation and it will all work itself out.”
