Worldwide Express Expands Partnership with Niece Motorsports, Ross Chastain

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 3, 2022) – Niece Motorsports and two-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Ross Chastain have announced a partnership, with Worldwide Express, joining the No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado entry for four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) races during the 2022 season beginning at Darlington Raceway for the Dead On Tools 200 on Friday, May 6.

“I’m very excited to be a part of Worldwide Express’ growing commitment to NASCAR both in the Cup Series and Truck Series,” Chastain said. “It’s an honor to represent a first-class organization like Worldwide Express both on and off the track and I’m always looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Niece Motorsports Chevrolet.”

“It’s a great opportunity for both sides and thanks to Trackhouse Racing for allowing me the opportunity to compete in the Truck Series with Niece and Worldwide Express.”

Worldwide Express, along with its sister brands of GlobalTranz and Unishippers, currently serve as the full-season, primary partners of Niece Motorsports’ No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Dean Thompson.

Worldwide Express and Trackhouse Racing recently announced a multi-year partnership that spans 21 NASCAR Cup Series races during the 2022 and 2023 seasons for Chastain’s No. 1 Chevrolet and Daniel Suárez’s No. 99 Chevrolet.

The Dallas-based Worldwide Express, GlobalTranz and Unishippers teams bring together three bands offering marketing-leading solutions for parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload and managed transportation services all delivered through proprietary technology. Their unique data assets and business intelligence capabilities provide customers with visibility and analytics to deliver a competitive advantage.

“Our WWEX Racing program has grown quickly, and that’s due in no small part to the Niece Motorsports team, who approach this sport with the same mindset we do for our business: that of precision and continuous improvement,” said Worldwide Express president Rob Rose.

“We’re excited to watch Ross compete alongside and mentor Dean and his fellow drivers, and are particularly grateful to Trackhouse Racing for sharing this commitment to teamwork.”

In addition to Darlington, Chastain will pilot the No. 41 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Silverado at Texas Motor Speedway (May 20), Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 27), and Sonoma Raceway (June 11).

“We’re excited to see Worldwide Express continue to grow their involvement in our team and NASCAR overall,” Niece Motorsports General Manager, Cody Efaw, remarked. “We certainly don’t take their commitment to the sport and our organization for granted and are going to work hard to make them proud on and off the track. We’re honored to be aligned with such a first class company – both on Dean Thompson’s truck and now Ross’ as well.”

“It’s really incredible to see how this organization has grown over the last handful of years, and Ross has certainly been instrumental in that,” team owner Al Niece said. “We are excited to have him come back for some more races this year, and thrilled to have Worldwide Express come on board for more races with our team. We’re thankful for the commitment they’ve made to our organization and are looking forward to Darlington.”

The debut of the No. 41 Worldwide Express Silverado will be Chastain’s 97th career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, a career that includes three wins (Kansas 2019, Gateway 2019, Pocono 2019), 17 top-fives, and 42 top-10s. • Danny Bohn Teams Up with Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to Feature Ticks Suck on No. 20 Young’s Motorsports Truck at Darlington Raceway

Danny Bohn Teams Up with Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to Feature Ticks Suck on No. 20 Young’s Motorsports Truck at Darlington Raceway

Ticks Suck is part of the Cohen Lyme & Tickborne Disease Initiative
May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 28, 2022) – To bring awareness to Lyme disease, race car driver Danny Bohn is partnering with the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to feature Ticks Suck, a public awareness campaign for Lyme and tickborne disease, on the No. 20 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado RST at the May 6th NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

Bohn was diagnosed with Lyme disease as a child and has battled symptoms of the most common vector-borne disease in the United States ever since.

The month of May is recognized as Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

“This partnership is very personal to me as the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is really leading the national fight against Lyme and tickborne diseases,” said Bohn.

“NASCAR fans are active, outdoorsy people, so we hope awareness leads to prevention, or as in cases like mine, recognizing a need for treatment.”

Inspired by Alexandra’s own personal journey with the disease, the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation launched the Cohen Lyme & Tickborne Disease Initiative in 2015 to raise awareness, advance research, and find a cure.

Ticks Suck is the Initiative’s latest national public service announcement campaign that aims to raise awareness of the year-round prevalence of ticks so families can protect themselves.

Important prevention tips and resources if you’ve been bitten can be found at TicksSuck.org.

“We are thrilled to partner with Danny Bohn and Young’s Motorsports and build awareness around tickborne diseases,” said Alexandra Cohen, president of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. “Ticks are found across the U.S. and carry more than a dozen debilitating diseases, so it’s important to learn how you can protect yourself and your family.”

The No. 20 Ticks Suck Chevrolet features a Darlington Throwback paint scheme designed after Darrell Waltrip’s 1981-82 green and white No. 11 Mountain Dew Buick that Waltrip called a “perfect race car” and helped define his career with one of the greatest stretches of racing the sport has ever seen.

Waltrip won 24 races, 18 poles and two NASCAR Cup Series championships in the car over a two-year period for team owner Junior Johnson.

The 33-year-old Bohn has 34 career starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series including three previous starts at Darlington. His most recent start in the No. 20 truck resulted in a top-10 finish at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February.

Before joining the Truck Series, the New Jersey native rose to prominence in 2012 when he earned NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour championship runner-up, Rookie of the Year and Most Popular Driver honors. Bohn followed that up with the 2014 modified track championship at the famed Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Bohn, who lives in Mooresville, N.C., is coming into Darlington fresh off one of his biggest Modified career race wins, dominating the 200-lap weekly series season opener at Bowman Gray’s quarter-mile flat oval last Saturday night before a packed house.

The Dead On Tools 200 will take place at Darlington Raceway on Friday, May 6th. The race will broadcast live on FOX Sports 1 and air on SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 and MRN Radio at 7:30 p.m. ET.

    ABOUT LYME DISEASE:

The most common vector-borne infectious disease in the country, Lyme disease is a potentially disabling infection caused by bacteria transmitted through the bite of an infected tick to people and pets. If caught early, most cases of Lyme disease can be effectively treated, but it is commonly misdiagnosed due to lack of awareness and unreliable diagnostic tests.

There are approximately 476,000 new cases of Lyme disease each year, according to recent statistics released by the CDC. Even with prompt treatment, about 10-20% of patients go on to experience persistent symptoms.

As a result of the difficulty in diagnosing and treating Lyme disease, more than one million Americans may be suffering from the impact of these debilitating long-term symptoms and complications, according to Bay Area Lyme Foundation estimates.

ABOUT STEVEN & ALEXANDRA COHEN FOUNDATION:

The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation is committed to inspiring philanthropy and community service by creating awareness, offering guidance, and leading by example to show the world what giving can do. The Foundation’s grants support nonprofit organizations based in the United States that either help people in need or solve complex problems.

The Foundation is the largest private funder of Lyme and tickborne disease research in the United States with over $75 million disbursed for groundbreaking studies in prevention, diagnostics, and treatment as well as building essential research infrastructure to catalyze innovation.

The Foundation also spearheads grassroots campaigns to encourage others to give.

Spencer Boyd to Run a Michael Waltrip Throwback Truck with RimTyme at Darlington

Mooresville, NC (April 20, 2022) – In 2022 Darlington Raceway Throwback Weekend tribute, Michael Waltrip and Spencer Boyd will roll Waltrip’s raced No. 23 Hawaiian Punch Pontiac out into the North Carolina sunshine to compare it to Boyd’s No. 12 RimTyme Chevrolet Silverado that bears the same iconic design.

Michael Waltrip’s Hawaiian Punch paint scheme debuted in 1985 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on a Chevrolet. In Michael’s first full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series for Chuck Rider and Bahari Racing, the No. 23 Hawaiian Punch Pontiac became a part of NASCAR history attached to the now storied driver, team owner, and TV personality. As a keepsake from an important milestone in his career, Michael still has the actual race car from that year in his personal garage.

Spencer Boyd commented, “Throwbacks are an opportunity to celebrate NASCAR’s history; I love them. We asked RimTyme to pick the scheme this year so when they came back with Michael’s Hawaiian Punch car a big smile came across my face. Michael made mention of me on the broadcast at my very first NASCAR race, so I find it fitting to honor him this way.”

RimTyme Custom Wheels and Tires carries more custom rims than the traditional wheel shop. They have a large selection of name brand custom wheels available in the latest styles, finishes, colors, and sizes. In addition to a variety of wheel brands, RimTyme carries popular tire brands for everyday driving needs at affordable prices to fit any budget.

“We are in the business of helping making vehicles look unique,” explained Brock Roberts of RimTyme. “This throwback scheme pays tribute to a car and a race car driver that push the limits, just like us. We are proud to be associated with both Spencer and Michael Waltrip for this special race that happens to be in the middle of where most of our stores are.”

To round out the throwback weekend, Boyd is offering limited production throwback t-shirts and hats on his website, spencerboyd.net. There will also be limited edition commemorative autograph cards printed depicting both vehicles. The hero cards are only available in person at RimTyme stores.

RimTyme is still running the promotion that when Spencer finishes 12th place or higher in a race, they will give customers $212 off a new rim and tire package at select locations. Find a RimTyme Custom Wheels and Tires location near you at www.rimtyme.com/locations.

The No. 38 Speedco Ford F-150 fought the track all evening, as Smith reported the truck was tight. He finished both stages outside of the top-10 but was able to fight his way up to 14th to start the final stage. The team elected to not pit at the end of the stage to gain track position.

Smith started the final stage by reporting that the power steering had started to fade, but that didn’t deter him from moving forward. The young driver searched for speed on both the top and the bottom lines, making up positions to bring home another top-10 finish.

    SMITH ON BRISTOL DIRT:

“Dirt racing is still something I am trying to learn and improve on. The No. 38 crew did an amazing job helping me get this Speedco Ford F-150 inside the top-10 to keep our streak alive. We’ll take these next two off-weeks to prepare and really hit Darlington hard.”

MCDOWELL POWERS THROUGH THE FIELD, FINISHES 9TH

The No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops/Speedco Ford Mustang of Michael McDowell had a great weekend. Working on both the car and track conditions in practice, McDowell finished fourth in his heat race and started the feature in 17th.

By the end of Stage One, McDowell had his Love’s Ford into the top-15, and was positioned to pounce at the top-10 runners. Adjusting to the changing track and weather conditions, as well as taking advantage of restarts, McDowell was able to claim stage points by finishing eighth in Stage Two.

It was from the beginning of Stage Three, onward, that the Love’s Travel Stops/Speedco team showed their potential. They raced inside the top-10 for the remainder of the night. When all was said and done, McDowell finished in the ninth position, inking his second top-10 of the season.

    MCDOWELL ON BRISTOL DIRT:

“For not being a driver with a dirt racing background, a top-10 at the end of this race is amazing. We had an amazing car that handled great all weekend, and we made the most of it. We finally had a race come our way, so I’m excited to get this after the last three races we have had.”

GILLILAND IMPRESSES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND, FINISHES 17TH

Todd Gilliland came into the weekend and turned heads, as the NASCAR Cup Series rookie took the No. 38 First Phase Credit Card Ford Mustang to third in final practice. Gilliland started in the first heat race and was in pole position. Unfortunately, the bottom was a hard place to restart. Gilliland ultimately finished his heat in sixth, starting Sunday’s Cup race in 23rd.

Gilliland started the feature and quickly found himself making up ground on the high side and by the end of Stage One, he was up to 18th. In Stage Two, Gilliland continued to impress on the dirt, making up more ground to finish the stage in 15th. Then, as they were about to start the third and final stage, the rain came.

The final stage was plagued by rain delays and restarts, Gilliland was shuffled back to the 21st position as the race got back underway. In the closing laps, Gilliland spun off of Turn Two, avoiding any damage. He went back to work, making up the ground he lost and then some to round out his dirt weekend with a 17th-place finish.

    GILLILAND ON BRISTOL DIRT:

“Dirt track racing is something that has always been a fun challenge to me. I was really happy with the work the No. 38 First Phase Credit Card team put in to give me the opportunity to have a great day. We were able to climb back up through those final restarts and ended with a solid finish.”

Ben Rhodes rallies to win Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway

BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 16, 2022) – Overcoming a mistake in communication, Ben Rhodes charged to the front in the closing laps of Saturday’s Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway and snatched the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory from runner-up Carson Hocevar.

One circuit after the final restart on Lap 146 of 150, Rhodes, the defending series champion, buried his No. 99 ThorSport Racing Toyota into Turn 1, slid to the outside of third-place finisher John Hunter Nemechek and dived to the inside of Hocevar to take the lead.

The dramatic charge to victory atoned for Rhodes’ failure to bring his truck to the pits at the end of the first stage on Lap 40 after missing his entrance to pit road. Forced to pit after winning Stage 2, Rhodes restarted 13th on Lap 91 and worked his way forward with the aid of four cautions in the final 60-lap stage.

“My crew gave me such an awesome Tundra this weekend that I wasn’t going to let them down,” said Rhodes, who led 95 laps and won the first two stages on the way to his first victory of the year and the sixth of his career. “I had to go back up there and earn the spot back. I’m really proud of all their effort.”

Rhodes and Hocevar were the only two drivers credited with leading laps. The driver of the No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet grabbed the top spot after restarting fourth on Lap 91 and held it until Rhodes passed him for the win.

In hindsight, Hocevar said he could have done a better job defending against the decisive pass.

“Either ripped the top or crashed him,” Hocevar said of his alternatives. “I hate saying that, but it’s part of this racing, right? I just couldn’t compete with him. He just had better (fresher) tires, and he was the fastest truck all day. I was just trying to hold on…

“He slide-jobbed me, and I should have prepared for it, crossed him over and race him really hard. Second just sucks. It’s terrible, especially being that close.”

The race marked the NASCAR national series debut of reigning USAC National Midget champion Buddy Kofoid, who started 32nd after his No. 51 Toyota overheated during the first qualifying heat earlier in the afternoon.

Methodically working his way forward, Kofoid ran as high as third before spinning in Turn 2 as he tried to cross over to the inside of Rhodes’ truck in a battle for fourth place on Lap 139, after Rhodes drove deep into the corner and slid toward the top of the track.

Collected in the ensuing wreck were Ty Majeski, who saw a probable top-five effort go awry, and Derek Kraus.

The race also had a taste of the bizarre. On Lap 96, Austin Wayne Self nudged the Chevrolet of hard-luck Matt DiBenedetto after the latter had passed Self. The front bumper of Self’s Silverado locked with the rear bumper of DiBenedetto’s Chevy, and the two drivers could not power them apart.

It took a red flag and a handful of track workers to separate the trucks. That incident ruined the race for both drivers, but the subsequent restart on Lap 106 put Rhodes on his path to the eventual victory. By the time caution flew again on Lap 112, he had climbed to fifth and was well on his way to the front.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

BEN RHODES, No. 99 Tenda Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, ThorSport Racing

    Finishing Position: 1st

Did you learn some of what you learned watching the Chili Bowl this year?

“I tried to. I really did. It was a tough race once the track started to slick off. It held moisture in different pockets around the track. It was hard to hunt for the grip, but luckily I had a really good team behind me telling me where to go and where they tried to see it. I just tried to follow their instruction. I had a bad fast Tenda Toyota Tundra.”

What were you thinking as you were driving through the field?

“I really wanted to get to the front, but it was so hard to pass. I just didn’t want to give it away. I told Michael Waltrip that nah, everything was cool. We meant to stay out, but truthfully mistake by me. We got the stage win because of it, but you don’t want to forfeit the win, so we had to get to the front. I knew we had the truck to beat, we just had to get there.”

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK, No. 4 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Kyle Busch Motorsports

    Finishing Position: 3rd

Solid finish. How was the finish from your perspective?

“Solid night for our Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. We worked really hard over the off season to make the dirt prograam better. I feel like we were successful in doing that. I felt like we had one of the better trucks in practice. We needed the racetrack to dry slick off and it definitely did that – just didn’t quite have enough to get past the 42 (Carson Hocevar) and the 99 (Ben Rhodes) there. They were a little bit better than us. We will go back to work, but solid points day. Solid finish for our No. 4 Toyota Tundra TRD KBM (Kyle Busch Motorsports) team. Looking forward to the next few weeks and just trying to build on the recent finishes that we had after the start of the year.”

CHRISTIAN ECKES, No. 98 TSPORT/Curb Records Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, ThorSport Racing

    Finishing Position: 5th

Solid top-five for you on the dirt. How was your race?

“We drove through the field pretty well. In the first stage, we got to 11th or 12th, and made an adjustment to help my forward drive and it got me a little bit too much on the tight side for the second and third stages, but I still felt like I could get some speed on a restart or last couple lap run. When we got a couple of those restarts, I got lucky and got in a good position in the outside groove and would pass two at a time. To finish fifth is definitely exciting for the day we probably should have had. Those are the kind of days we have to have more often – maximizing what we can do. Just proud of my 98 TSPORT Tundra guys.”

TY MAJESKI, No. 66 TSPORT Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, ThorSport Racing

    Finishing Position: 21st

Great race until the end. Can you talk about the run and the finish?

“I had a lot of fun. I was skeptical coming in. I’ve never run dirt in a race car before, but it was a lot of fun. We had a really, really good truck. I thought we had the truck capable of winning of the race – me and Ben (Rhodes) I thought were the class of the field. When you have race trucks like that capable of winning, you want to take advantage of them and it hurts to get caught up in somebody else’s incident, but that’s part of the game. Overall, had a really fast TSPORT Toyota Tundra TRD Pro and if we keep bringing fast trucks like this our time will come.”

BUDDY KOFOID, No. 51 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Kyle Busch Motorsports

    Finishing Position: 27th

Incredible drive through the field. Can you talk about your debut overall and the late race contact?

“I felt like we had plenty of speed today in our Mobil 1 Tundra. Being my first time in something that heavy – especially on dirt – I felt like we had a strong showing for sure. I think that last stage I felt like we were too free. We were about a third or fourth place truck, but then the guys that pitted – they started coming on like we figured. Eventually (Ben) Rhodes got to me and was trying to slide me and eventually was going to make it work. I don’t know if we made any contact or not, but when he slid in front of me, I thought we touched a little bit in the left front. When I tried to come back down, it got the attitude of the truck kind of jacked up and with kind of already being on the free side it was enough to kind of finish me off. Just kind of a tough deal and very unfortunate, but more or less just a racing deal. I felt like we had plenty of speed and made great adjustments. We made a gamble with the strategy at the stage and it almost worked. Just sucks to end it like that.”
