Layne Riggs and the No. 38 Love’s / Fleetguard Ford F-150

    Nashville Superspeedway Competition Notes

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 26, 2024) – The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series is back in action this weekend at the Nashville Superspeedway. For Layne Riggs and the No. 38 team, this weekend provides another opportunity to further solidify Riggs in his Sunoco Rookie of the Year campaign.

Following a three-week break in the schedule, Riggs and the team are ready to get back on track. Riggs entered the break with a Top-5 finish after finishing 5th at the World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis, Missouri. Riggs currently sits 16th in Driver Points and is 76 points below the playoff cutline.

It will be a one day show for the Love’s / Fleetguard Ford F-150 team with practice and qualifying on Friday, June 28th at 4:30 pm ET. The Rackley Roofing 200 is scheduled for later that evening at 8:00 pm ET. Fans can watch the action live on FS2 or listen in from the Performance Racing Network and Sirius XM channel 90.

    No. 38 Love’s / Fleetguard Ford F-150:

    DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“I’m glad the break is over, it was nice, but I’m ready to get back into the truck and pick up where we left off. Dylan (Cappello) and the team put in overtime during the break to make sure our truck is primed for Nashville. I’m really looking forward to this weekend and what they have in store. Our Love’s / Fleetguard Ford F-150 will be fast, we just have to execute and be there in the end.”

    CREW CHIEF DYLAN CAPPELLO:

“Nashville is going to be a fun one for sure. I have two second place finishes there with Zane (Smith), so I know what to bring setup wise for us to run well, we just have to execute and not make any mistakes.”

Driver: Bayley Currey | Crew Chief: Cody Efaw
    Bayley Currey
    @BayleyCurrey
    @BayleyCurrey05

    • Currey’s Nashville Stats: Bayley Currey has made one prior Truck Series start at Nashville which came in last year’s running of the Rackley Roofing 200. Currey and team had a strong run at the 1.33-mile track last season, starting the race from the outside pole. Shown as a true contender throughout the event, Currey nabbed his second-career top-five finish with an impressive fifth-place race result. Currey has also made two NASCAR Xfinity Series starts here in 2021 and 2022.
    • Niece Motorsports Nashville Stats: Since the Truck Series’ return in 2021, Niece Motorsports drivers have combined to make a total of 10 starts at Nashville Superspeedway. Niece is the defending race winning team, having picked up the win with Carson Hocevar in last year’s Rackley Roofing 200. In total, Niece drivers have led 41 laps and picked up three top-five finishes.
    • On the Truck: Currey’s No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from DQS Solutions & Staffing along with Masked Owl Technologies. The truck will debut a radically new, black and white paint scheme, with DQS serving as Currey’s primary partner at Nashville, Kansas Speedway II, Talladega Superspeedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and Martinsville Speedway II.
    • Recapping Gateway: Currey and the No. 41 team fought mechanical issues in the race at World Wide Technology Raceway. After starting 25th, Currey began to pass some competitors, moving up to 21st in stage one. Towards the end of stage two, his truck began to lose power, dropping to 25th in stage two. The issue would persist throughout the rest of the race, resulting in a 29th-place finish.
    • Points Rundown: Entering the 13th race of the season, Currey is seeded 18th in the NCTS driver points standings. Searching for his first breakout result of the year, the driver from Driftwood, Texas is 97 points out of the Playoffs picture. His nearest competitor, Dean Thompson in 17th, is 18 points ahead.
    • Quoting Currey: Last year, the trucks at Nashville seemed like it was a combo that naturally fit you. How can you take what you learned to transition it to this weekend?

“Yeah, that was fun last year; I definitely feel like that was the best run in my NASCAR career. I felt like we could have walked away with the win if a few things went differently. I really like these kind of tracks that are in between a mile-and-a-half and a short track. You still have to use a little bit of brake, but you’re carrying so much speed too, so I feel like it fits my style as a driver. I think if we can fight the dirty air that’s usually pretty bad here and stay up front with some track position, we should be pretty good on Friday.”

    • Quoting Efaw: As we get through the halfway point of the season, what can you say about the speed the team has had this year on the intermediates?

“I feel like our mile-and-a-half package has been pretty good this year. It seems like we’ve been fine tuning on it really since the first true intermediate in Las Vegas. Now that we’ve had a few of those races in our notebook, I feel pretty strong about the direction we’re headed in. Each week, our guys do a great job at finding that extra bit of pace, and it’s showing across the board. Bayley, Matt, and Kaden have started to get in a rhythm at these tracks, and they’ve been able to work really well together, which makes us have some high hopes for this weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing what they can continue to build off of.”
DQS Solutions & Staffing Mission Statement: The core mission of DQS Solutions & Staffing is to attain unparalleled excellence in our specialized domains, specifically staffing and security. Simultaneously, we maintain the flexibility required to collaborate closely with our clients in the creation of innovative products and services within the framework of DQS.

No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Jon Leonard
    Matt Mills Racing
    @MattMillsRacing
    @MattMillsRacing

    • Mills’ Nashville Stats: Matt Mills has yet to compete in a Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, and will make his first series start at the track on Friday night. Mills made one Xfinity Series start here (2021) while driving for BJ McLeod Motorsports, which resulted in a 25th-place finish.
    • Leonard’s Nashville Stats: Jon Leonard has a strong record on top of the box at Nashville Superspeedway. In two Truck Series starts, Leonard recorded two top-five finishes while working with Stewart Friesen, who finished fifth in back-to-back years (2021 & ’22). Leonard did not call the race here last year.
    • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra.
    • Recapping Gateway: Mills and the No. 42 team had a relatively uneventful day at WWT Raceway. Mills qualified in the 26th position and would finish in the same spot at the conclusion of stage one. Jon Leonard called for significant changes in stage two, and the group would climb to 18th at the stage. Citing a tight condition, Mills lost a bit of track position en-route to a 23rd-place finish.
    • Points Rundown: The five-race stretch went well for the No. 42 team, resulting in Mills picking up five spots in driver points. Mills is currently shown in the 23rd position in the standings, 11 points behind his teammate, Kaden Honeycutt.
    • Quoting Mills: It’s been a while since you last raced at Nashville, so do you anticipate it being tough to get acclimated again?

“Well, the first time I raced at Nashville in the Xfinity car, I had no idea what the track was going to be like. So, going into it this time with having the resources of the simulator time and the good, experienced people at the team, I’m definitely more prepared for this track now. I think we should be a lot better; we’ve started to build some good momentum on our mile-and-a-half and short track package, and Nashville seems to be in the sweet spot right in the middle of those types of tracks. In the past, the Niece trucks have been really fast there, so hopefully it’ll be a good one for us.”

    • Quoting Leonard: Your team has done a great job of picking up spots in points over the past few races. How do you keep this momentum to gain more moving forward?

“I think we have to just keep building week-to-week on what Matt needs and stay with our baseline of what we’ve been running. We’ve been staying closely as a company setup-wise, and I think Matt’s in a good space of building momentum which keeps his confidence up, so we just have to chip at it on a weekly basis like we have been doing on the No. 42 team.”

No. 45 AutoVentive / Precision Vehicle Logistics Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Kaden Honeycutt | Crew Chief: Phil Gould
    Kaden Honeycutt
    @KadenWHoneycutt
    @KadenHoneycutt10

    • Honeycutt Returns: After stepping aside for Connor Mosack to take the reigns in the last race at WWT Raceway, Kaden Honeycutt returns to the seat of Niece Motorsports’ No. 45 Chevrolet for his sixth start of the season. Honeycutt’s last three starts in his part-time schedule resulted in three top-10 finishes – with finishes of ninth at Martinsville, fourth at Kansas, and most recently, seventh at Charlotte back in May.
    • Honeycutt’s Nashville Stats: Honeycutt has made one start at Nashville Superspeedway which came in the 2022 running of the Truck Series race. In that race, he finished 21st for G2G Racing behind the wheel of the No. 47 truck.
    • Gould’s Nashville Stats: Phil Gould is the defending, winning crew chief in the Truck Series race at Nashville. Last year, Gould guided Carson Hocevar to victory lane for the No. 42 team’s second race win of the season. Gould has made a total of three starts here, recording two top-five finishes with Hocevar.
    • On the Truck: Honeycutt’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from AutoVentive and Precision Vehicle Logistics. Having primarily sponsored the team’s No. 41 entry driven by Bayley Currey, the partners will make their debut on the No. 45 truck in Friday’s Rackley Roofing 200.
    • Recapping Gateway: Connor Mosack and the No. 45 team had high hopes for a solid run in Gateway, but sustained damage early on. Mosack qualified 18th, but had to make repairs in stage one, dropping to 25th. They went on to finish 26th in stage two, but the damage proved to be too heavy to enable him to move up the running order. Mosack would walk away with a 22nd-place result in his second start with Niece Motorsports.
    • Points Rundown: Despite only running a part-time schedule, Kaden Honeycutt’s impressive results have kept him relatively high up in the points standings. Honeycutt enters Nashville scored in 22nd, 15 points behind Timmy Hill in 21st.
    • Owner Points Outlook: The No. 45 team is amidst a heated battle for a Playoffs bid in the owner points standings. The team, currently shown in seventh position, has had four drivers in its rotation this year, highlighted by a Darlington win delivered by Ross Chastain. Only three points behind TRICON Garage’s No. 17 team, the No. 45 has a 36 point buffer to the Playoffs cutline.
    • Sim to Reality: Tonight, Honeycutt will compete in round 11 of the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series held at the virtual Nashville Superspeedway. Driving the No. 8 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports’ eSports team, Kaden is currently eighth in the series standings. The race will be shown live on eNASCAR.com/live at 8:00 PM ET.
    • Double Duty Weekend: Following the Truck Series race, Honeycutt will travel east to compete in the Thunder Road Harley Davidson 200 at South Boston Speedway on Saturday. The Late Model Stock race is the first leg of the prestigious “Virginia Triple Crown” with the NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts Weekly Series, and can be seen live on FloRacing at 7:00 PM ET.
    • Quoting Honeycutt: How high is your confidence heading into Nashville after having two strong runs on intermediate tracks?

“I feel really confident going to Nashville, especially after the last two mile-and-a-half tracks that we ran. We’re bringing the same truck that we had at Kansas and Charlotte, so I know we’ll be really fast, but it’s all about executing. We’ve got to be fast on and off pit road, as well as myself on the racetrack in qualifying well. It’s up to me to figure out how to win the race and bring home back-to-back wins for Niece Motorsports after they won with Carson last year. Now, it’s our turn as a company to try and back it up this year. Thanks to AutoVentive and Precision for jumping on board, and for all they do for our team as a whole. We’ll go out and represent them well and try to get them a win!”

    • Quoting Gould: Last year, your team showed a ton of speed here. Do you think Kaden should be able to adapt quickly to the truck having not raced here in two years?

“For sure, I feel like he should adapt really well here. The places that Kaden has been fast at this year are some of the same tracks that Carson (Hocevar) was fast at last year, so I think Nashville will be no different. Looking at what he’s been able to do on the simulator showed the pace he has, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

  • Rush Truck Centers to Sponsor Clint Bowyer, Spire Motorsports at Nashville Superspeedway

Rush Truck Centers to Sponsor Clint Bowyer, Spire Motorsports at Nashville Superspeedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 25, 2024) – A familiar face will be paired with a familiar partner when the NASCAR CRAFSTMAN Truck Series (NCTS) returns to Nashville Superspeedway for the Rackley Roofing 200.

Rush Truck Centers, the nation’s largest provider of premium products and services for the commercial vehicle market, will serve as the primary sponsor aboard Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado when Clint Bowyer returns to the driver’s seat in a NASCAR-sanctioned event for the first time since the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season finale.

“I’ve had some great sponsors over the years, and I’m thankful for all of them, but I take a very special pride in my connection to Rush Truck Centers and couldn’t be prouder that they’ve decided to come on board for this race,” said Bowyer. “When we first announced that I was going to drive for Spire Motorsports at Nashville and be working with (crew chief) Brian Pattie, we talked about getting the band back together, so to speak. Well, to have Rush Truck Centers sponsor the truck is kind of the trifecta. I’m pretty excited about how all this is coming together.”

Bowyer will reconnect with crew chief Brian Pattie who guided the 44-year-old’s NCS efforts from 2012-2015. Pattie led the affable racer to three wins in 2012 and ultimately a runner-up finish in the NCS championship point standings when the potent duo was paired together at Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR).

In addition to replicating the traditional Rush Truck Centers livery the Emporia Kan., native raced during his final season on NASAR’s senior circuit, Bowyer’s No. 7 entry will also showcase a special sweepstakes benefitting Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP).

In March, Rush Truck Centers announced a sweepstakes for a chance to win the final Peterbilt Model 389X ever built, and the only 2025 model year ever produced. Eligible participants are encouraged to visit winthelast389.com for details and to make a contribution to WWP and be automatically entered to win.

The Model 389X embodies the history of trucking with its traditional styling and stunning display of chrome and class. This one-of-a-kind Peterbilt Model 389X has been customized to match the paint scheme of the 1965 Peterbilt Model 358 proudly displayed at Rush Truck Centers’ headquarters which commemorates the year the company was founded.

“This is probably the coolest sweepstakes I’ve ever seen,” added Bowyer. “That model Peterbilt is a piece of Americana. There’s no telling how many truckers made a living behind the wheel of a Pete 389 and how much freight those trucks have pulled up and down the road. For someone to be able to win that truck – the last one ever built and the only 2025 – is absolutely incredible. It’s a priceless truck. Literally, one of a kind. Rush stepped up in a big way to help an organization that does very important work providing free, life-changing programs and services for America’s heroes and their families. I’m really proud to help promote such a worthy initiative.”

Nashville Superspeedway marks the site of Bowyer’s second-career NASCAR Xfinity Series start, where he tallied nine total races from 2004 – 2008. He has one win over those nine starts at the 1.33-mile oval and parlayed those efforts into an uber-impressive 2.8 average finish, competing on NASCAR’s junior circuit.

In 14 NCTS starts from 2006 – 2016, Bowyer recorded two pole positions, three wins, nine top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. While he hasn’t competed in a NASCAR sanctioned event since dropping the window net for the final time in November 2020, Bowyer made three Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) starts last season and was a threat for the win in each outing.

After 12 races, the No. 7 team sits fifth in the 2024 NCTS owner point standings after posting two wins, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. Kyle Busch earned both the teams 2024 wins by collecting the checkered flag at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. In the series most recent stop at World Wide Technology Raceway, Andres Perez started 16th and finished ninth.

“Clint has big shoes to fill, but we’re pretty sure he’s up to the task,” quipped Pattie. “He’s been to the shop a couple times and he’s the same as he ever was. We never skipped a beat. We know he’s up for the job and Clint is always up for a good time, so we’re looking forward to Friday night. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The Rackley Roofing 200 from Nashville Superspeedway will be televised live on FS2 Friday, June 28, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The 13th of 23 NCTS races on the 2024 schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

*No donation required to enter or win. See winthelast389.com for details and complete rules.

  • New Look for Boyd’s Longest Running Sponsor, Record Rack

New Look for Boyd’s Longest Running Sponsor, Record Rack

Mooresville, NC (June 20, 2024) – NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Driver/Owner, Spencer Boyd is helping unveil a new look for his longest running marketing partner, Record Rack® premium wildlife feed (brand owned by Cargill, Inc.). This marks the seventh season of the pair working together but the first race with Record Rack on Boyd’s new team, Freedom Racing Enterprises.

Cargill’s Wildlife Marketing Lead, Jodi Cornelison spoke about the updates to the Record Rack brand, “We have been so impressed and pleased with what Spencer has brought to our brand for 7 years. From his support of the hunting industry, to his love for honoring our Nation’s heroes. We are incredibly proud of him as he reaches this milestone in his racing career. We thought what better way to kick off our brand new look, than to celebrate it on Spencer’s truck with his new team, Freedom Racing Enterprises. Besides slick new packaging, we have two great new products for our beloved NASCAR fans. Both are super easy to feed, and the intense berry flavor and smell will keep the deer coming back for more. Spincast is a mix of protein pellets with corn so it will flow well through the popular spincast feeders. Couple that with our new Big Antler Mineral (BAM) Block, and you’ll start seeing bigger monster bucks in the fall.”

Spencer Boyd commented on the partnership, “When Record Rack first sponsored me back in 2018, I was driving the No. 76. This time it’s our new team with that same number coupled with their new packaging and products, it’s a great combination. While there is certainly a natural connection between us with me being a sportsman, the rooted connection is with our mutual love for our country. We have gotten to honor so many heroes together and this year will be no exception.”

The hood of the Record Rack of the No.76 Record Rack Chevrolet Silverado lists 65 names of America’s finest who have also been honored by attending the annual Bucks for the Brave sponsored by Record Rack.

Bucks for the Brave is an all-expense paid trip that will take place in the Fall of 2024. The events will be hosted at Trinity Oaks’ Thumbtack Ranch in Batesville, TX, which is the only nationally recognized Purple Heart Ranch in the United States. There will be both a men’s and women’s hunt with winners representing each of these eight categories: Army Veteran, Marine Corps Veteran, Navy Veteran, Air Force Veteran, Coast Guard Veteran, Retired Firefighter, Retired Law Enforcement and Retired EMT.

Boyd continues, “As we round out the NASCAR Salutes campaign that focuses on appreciating the efforts of our military, I wanted to bring one of these true heroes to the track. James “JD” Roberts, a highly decorated Army Veteran will sit on our pit box at the upcoming race in Nashville alongside his wife, Linda. These people have sacrificed more than I could ever imagine and just hope this little token of appreciation helps them realize our entire team is grateful for all they have done.”

James “JD” Roberts, joined the army at 17. He did two tours of duty in Vietnam. The first was personal security for a chaplain, and the second was with a special forces group when he was promoted to Captain. He returned to the states where he became an AIT Company Commander. He then joined the Army Rangers as an instructor in Fort Benning, GA. JD was then recruited by the elite Delta Force and became one of the original members serving under Colonel Beckwith. He served during the Iranian Hostage Crisis on the Operation Eagle Claw rescue mission and survived the plane crash that killed eight service members. He retired after 20 years with decorations and medals including four Bronze Stars with Valor, a Purple Heart with OLC, along with special awards for his participation in the Iran Rescue Mission. Even after retiring, he and two others went on a rescue mission to Jordan to bring home a young girl kidnapped by her father. This heroic event resulted in a made for TV movie starring Mariel Hemingway called Desperate Rescue. He didn’t stop there though. He spent an additional 20 years serving with the Department of Homeland Security. JD now lives in Crossville TN with his wife and suffers from Parkinson’s disease caused by agent orange in Vietnam.

The No. 76 Record Rack Silverado will race at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday, June 28 at 8pm ET. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event will be televised on FS2.

HEIM WINS NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES TOYOTA 200

TRICON Garage’s Corey Heim earns his fourth win of the season and second at World Wide Technology Raceway.

MADISON, Ill. (June 1, 2024) – TRICON Garage driver Corey Heim remained perfect at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Heim collected his second NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series win in as many starts at the 1.25-mile oval, leading a race-high 65 laps in his No. 11 Toyota for a series-leading fourth win of the season. The 21-year-old Georgia native won in his inaugural visit in 2022 with Kyle Busch Motorsports, but missed last season’s event due to illness.

“I’m just on top of the world right now,” Heim said. “We’ve got such a great race team and such a long season ahead. We’re the team to beat right now. I feel like the last five weeks we should have won them all.

“Today, we came and we probably didn’t have the best truck, by far, by any means. We were definitely top three. To have our pit crew step up like that and fix their mistakes from the past couple weeks is a big statement from those guys.”

The win was Heim’s fourth in the last eight races – the others came at Circuit of The Americas, Kansas and North Wilkesboro – but early on it was shaping up to be a great race for polesitter Ty Majeski after an approximate three-hour rain delay.

The ThorSport Racing driver, chasing his first win of the season, dominated the first stage by leading 33 of the 35 laps. He then took Stage 2 honors as well. But it was Heim who began to emerge as the favorite in the third and final stage after not leading a lap in the first two.

Heim enjoyed a 38-lap stint at the point from Laps 78-115 with Majeski in tow. Majeski would lead his only lap of the final stage on the next lap when Heim pitted and then would do the same himself. It was setting up to be a potential shootout between the two and Majeski’s best opportunity came on a restart following a caution with 23 laps to go. Majeski closed the gap to .795 of a second with 15 laps to go. Heim, however, remained in control as Majeski began to fade and also was dealing with pressure from Christian Eckes of McAnally Hilgemann Racing and Nick Sanchez of Rev Racing.

Eckes moved to second with nine to go, but never challenged Heim and finished 1.854 seconds back in second. Sanchez took third, Majeski fourth and rookie Layne Riggs rounded out the top five.

World Wide Technology Raceway was the second leg of the three-race Triple Truck Challenge. Sanchez won the first leg last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway for a $50,000 bonus and Heim pocketed the same amount for his victory. Should either driver win the final leg of “The Trip,” they will earn a $150,000 bonus for winning two of the three designated races.

The weekend culminates Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway with the NASCAR Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300 beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT (TV: FS1, Radio: MRN, SiriusXM, WNOI 103.9 FM locally).

    TOYOTA QUOTES

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 1st

Can you talk about how much this win means to you?

“Total team effort today. We actually struggled a little bit yesterday and worked overnight on it. I just have to say this pit crew has redeemed themselves from last week. I felt like we could have won the race and admittedly they made some mistakes, but they redeemed themselves today and that is what it is all about. Total team effort on this 11 crew. Super thankful for TRICON Garage, Toyota Racing, Safelite – that was awesome.”

You have a perfect record at Gateway, what does that mean?

“That’s awesome. Just so grateful for all of my guys at TRICON Garage and Toyota Racing. Yesterday in practice, I honestly thought we were not one of the better trucks. We looked at a lot of data overnight and made it better, so super grateful for those guys for their hard work overnight. The guys back at the shop have been working hard to get this Gateway truck ready, so awesome to bring home our Tundra p1 in the Toyota 200, so that is another special event for us. This was my second ever win – and first win on a non-superspeedway, so it means everything to come back here, espeically with my illness from last year – just watching from the sidelines – just grateful to be back and healthy this year, and picking up a win.”

    DAVID GILLILAND, partner, TRICON Garage

How much does this win mean to the team?

“We felt like as a team we had a couple mistakes and we had a truck capable of winning last week and obviously with what happened with the penalty and the DQ – there is two ways you can handle those situations, and we presented it with how do we learn from it, how do we make ourselves better and we were better today. This is a championship quality team, championship quality organization. Really proud of what Scott (Zipadelli, crew chief) and Corey (Heim) and TRICON Garage was able to do today. This is a huge win. When you have setbacks like we did last week, it is how a team bounces back from that stuff – to me – that makes a team, and today proves where we are at.”

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Road Ranger/Bucked Up Ford F-150 (Finished 4th)

“Sometimes when you are the better truck in the beginning, you get gun shy to make changes to keep up with the race track. We fell a little behind and fought tight as the run progressed. We just didn’t keep up with the race track enough and I think the 11 and 19 and some of the others were able to make changes because they were catching us and felt like they couldn’t win the way they were. We felt like maybe we could. We just didn’t keep up with the track enough. It is disappointing but we executed on all fronts today. I thought our strategy was good and the pit crew did a phenomenal job. We were just a little short with our Road Ranger/Bucked Up Ford F-150 today. It is something to build on. Thank you to Duke and Rhonda for letting us come to the race track and do what we love to do.”

LAYNE RIGGS, No. 38 Infinity Communications Group Ford F-150 (Finished 5th)

“The team did a great job, especially with pit strategy and pitted us just at the right time to stay on the lead lap there at the very end with the best tires of anybody coming to that last restart. We made the most of it. I definitely didn’t have the best truck today. I was learning a lot throughout the race. I think if I would have known at the beginning what I knew at the end we would have ended up better and made some passes. It is hard to pass here. Dirty air is so bad and it is so single run. It was a tough day but we came out with a good solid finish which is what we needed for this team, for everyone at Infinity Communications and Front Row Motorsports. They worked really hard and we just gotta keep the momentum going like this.”

  • MAJESKI WINS NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES TOYOTA 200 POLE FOR SECOND SEASON IN A ROW

MAJESKI WINS NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES TOYOTA 200 POLE FOR SECOND SEASON IN A ROW

    • ThorSport Racing’s Ty Majeski becomes the first NCTS driver in World Wide Technology Raceway history to win consecutive poles.
    • Toyota 200 is set for 12:30 p.m. CT Saturday and will be televised live on FOX.

MADISON, Ill. (May 31, 2024) – Ty Majeski of ThorSport Racing became the first NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series driver in World Wide Technology Raceway history to win back-to-back poles when he captured the top spot during Friday’s qualifying for the Toyota 200.

Majeski posted a lap of 138.568 miles per hour (32.475 seconds) on the 1.25-mile oval in his No. 98 Ford to capture his series-leading third pole of the season and eighth of his career. His other two this season came at Daytona and Martinsville.

With his second career pole at World Wide Technology Raceway, Majeski joins Greg Biffle (1998, 2000) and Ted Musgrave (2001, ’05) as the only multiple pole winners at the venue.

Majeski will lead the 32-truck field to the green flag at 12:30 p.m. CT Saturday for the 160-lap Toyota 200 (TV: FOX, Radio: MRN, SiriusXM, WNOI 103.9 FM locally).

“Hit it good today,” said Majeski, who is fourth in the NCTS points standings but still looking for his first win of the season. “Had a pretty good history qualifying here. I think we sat on the pole here last year as well. Similar setup. Hopefully, we can close the weekend off this year.

“We had a good team meeting this morning. Try to collectively get everybody moving in the right direction. The speed is there. That is not a concern. We just have to make better decisions when it counts. These races will come together. When you have speed like that it’s inevitable.”

McAnally Hilgemann Racing’s Christian Eckes, the series points leader, was 0.124 of a second off Majeski’s pace to earn the other front-row spot with a lap of 138.041 mph/32.599 seconds. It will be his seventh top-10 starting position in as many races at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Rev Racing’s Nick Sanchez (137.994 mph/32.610) will start third, TRICON Garage’s Dean Thompson (137.961/32.618) fourth and teammate Tanner Gray (137.489/32.730) rounds out the top five. The top four drivers were separated by .143 and the top 23 drivers by less than a second (0.976).

World Wide Technology Raceway will serve as the second leg of the three-race CRAFTSMAN Truck Series’ Triple Truck Challenge. Sanchez won the first leg last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Eligible drivers who have elected to earn series championship points will receive a $50,000 bonus for one win. If a driver wins two out of the three races, they will be awarded $150,000. If a driver wins all three Triple Truck Challenge races, a $500,000 prize will be awarded.

In addition to the Toyota 200, the NASCAR Cup Series will be on track Saturday with opening practice and qualifying. Practice will run from 8:30-9:15 a.m. and be immediately followed by pole qualifying. The two-round format will be single-vehicle, one-lap qualifying runs.

He has earned two top-five and four top-10 finishes in the division’s first six races of the 2024 campaign and has a six-point advantage heading into the next stop at Iowa Speedway.
    • The Mexico City, Mexico native started racing karts when he was 11-years-old before transitioning to L-A Formula 4 and NASCAR Mexico Trucks competition. Perez was crowned the 2022 NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series Champion.
    • The 19-year-old is coming off a successful rookie ARCA campaign in 2023 where he posted one pole,10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes en-route to a runner-up finish in the division’s championship point standings.
    • In last week’s ARCA Menards Series General Tire 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Peréz sat on the pole, led eight laps and ultimately finished third.

The No. 7 team has compiled two wins with an average starting position of 7.5 and an average finish of 11.4 thus far this season. Kyle Busch led a race-high 33 laps en route the team’s first victory of 2024 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in February and a race-high 112 laps in the team’s most recent triumph in Texas. In its most recent outing, the team started seventh and finished eighth with Connor Mosack at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
    • In his first season at Spire Motorsports, crew chief Brian Pattie has led the No. 7 team to two victories across the first 11 events this season, both with Kyle Busch (Atlanta Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway). The duo also won twice across five races last year with Kyle Busch Motorsports.
    • Jack Wood finished 29th in Pattie’s lone race calling the shots in NCTS action at World Wide Technology Raceway last June. He was victorious in Xfinity Series competition at the Illinois track in July 2005 with Reed Sorenson behind the wheel.

How do you prepare for your Truck Series debut with limited practice time?
“I think the quick adaptation to everything that is going to go on will be important, both adapting to the truck and the track. I think we’ve been working hard, both me on my own and all the guys in the shop that are helping me out. I’m trying to cover everything before we get there. They’re just telling me to not make many mistakes, have a smooth practice and qualifying day, and we’ll go from there.”

World Wide Technology Raceway is very unique. Have you run at any tracks you can draw comparisons to in your career?
“I think it is very unique. The simulator has definitely been a help, especially in setting me up for success in the first few laps of practice and my ability to be more on it from the start. The closest I’ve ever ran on is something in Mexico in Puebla (Autódromo Internacional Miguel E. Abed). But at the end of the day, the cars here and the cars in Mexico are so different that I’m just going to have to adapt to something different. But, the simulator has been huge in terms of getting a grip on the track.”

Have you set any goals for your Truck Series debut?
“I think I just want everything to go smooth and have a very good result. I know that if we put everything together then it should be a really good day for us. If we get a top-10, I’d definitely take that for my Truck Series debut.”

Rajah Caruth – Driver, No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

    • Rajah Caruth will pilot Spire Motorsports’ No. 71 HENDRICKCARS.COM Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday’s Toyota 200 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Visitors can shop thousands of new or pre-owned vehicles, locate centers for service and collision repair, receive a value to sell or trade their car, chat online with customer service, discover career opportunities, learn more about vehicle protections programs, and explore how the company gives back to the community.
    • The Winston-Salem (N.C.) State University senior has two prior NCTS starts at the 1.25-mile Illinois oval with a venue-best 11th-place finish.
    • The Washington, D.C. native made his NCTS debut and first of four starts behind the wheel of the No. 7 Silverado for Spire Motorsports in 2022 at WWTR. His 11th-place finish was the best of his four appearances that year.
    • The 21-year-old is currently sixth in the NCTS championship point standings after 11 races. He has logged one pole, one win, five top-10 and nine top-15 finishes. He’s recorded a 12.2 average start, an 11.5 average finish and completed 96.9 percent of the laps contested this season.
    • With his first career NCTS win and pole position earlier this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Caruth became the third African American driver, alongside NASCAR Hall of Famer, Wendell Scott and current NASCAR Cup Series regular Bubba Wallace, to win a NASCAR National Touring Series race.
    • Caruth raced his first full season in NCTS in 2023, earning four top-10 finishes and coming home 16th in the division’s championship point standings.

You are returning to the site of your first Truck Series start. Does that make the venue more special or meaningful to you, especially coming back with Spire Motorsports?
“It’s cool to go back to Gateway because I ran my first truck race there with Spire and Bono (Manion) and (Mike) Greci in the number seven truck. It is cool because it is hard to believe it’s been two years and to see my progression over that time. I think we have a chance to get there and run really well. I believe, in my first race there, we ran in the top 10 most of the race and I think we can be a top-five truck again this week. We honestly have the speed every week to do that. Hopefully, we can have a solid race to end the five-race stretch and get back to our winning ways.”

Last week’s result didn’t show how well you ran all night long. How do you flip the script and look forward to the next event?
“Stuff happens, you know? That’s just racing. You can do everything right, it’ll be great. You can do everything right, it won’t be great. You just have to go back to the drawing board and make little tweaks and go to the racetrack and do your best. That’s it. We don’t need to wholesale things, we are not in that place at all. I think we are one of the best trucks every week. I think if we could just execute a good race this weekend, we can be fighting for 50 grand and go into Nashville with a pep in our step.”

Chase Purdy – Driver, No.77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado

    • Chase Purdy will pilot the Spire Motorsports’ No.77 Bama Buggies Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday afternoons Toyota 200.
    • Purdy heads to WWTR 15th in the NCTS driver point standings. He started in seventh and finished 13th last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Over the first 11 races of the 2024 campaign, the Meridian, Miss., native has earned one pole, one top-five and a pair of top-10 finishes.
    • In his three starts at WWTR, Purdy has an average starting position of 16th and an average finish position of seventh. Purdy’s most recent finish at WWTR was a fourth-place finish.
    • The Toyota 200 will mark Purdy’s 87th NCTS start and his 12th behind the wheel of Spire Motorsports’ No.77 Bama Buggies Chevrolet.
    • Purdy’s younger brother, Zach Purdy starts as an engineer for the team this week at WWTR. Zach Purdy will be based out of Mooresville, N.C., for the summer months before he returns to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for his senior year.
    • Purdy’s Crew Chief Jason Trinchere will be making his WWTR debut in Saturday’s Toyota 200.

    Chase Purdy Quotes
How does the shape of Gateway make it so special?
“WWTR is a unique place, different than most tracks. Both ends are so different and you have to shift in (turns) one and two. Turns three and four is more of a long and sweeping corner but one and two is a sharp tight turn.”

WWTR is one of your best tracks, what makes you so confident at this speedway?
“I think this place races like a big short track in many ways. That definitely falls into my wheelhouse. I’ve had a lot of really good runs and I’m looking for more of the same this weekend.”
