CP Compressors Makes Truck Series Debut with Todd Gilliland

Brand Returns to Front Row Motorsports at Atlanta Motor Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 16, 2021) – For the second consecutive season, CP Compressors, a division of Chicago Pneumatic, will make their return to Front Row Motorsports (FRM). This year, the CP Compressors brand will make its NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut as the primary sponsor of Todd Gilliland during this Saturday’s Fr8 Auctions 200 at the Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. CP Compressors will also be an associate partner of Anthony Alfredo during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race.

Last season, CP Compressors supported Michael McDowell and the No. 34 team. The brand earned a top-10 finish with McDowell during the inaugural Daytona Road Course event. CP Compressors are used daily at both FRM and David Gilliland Racing.

“Our body shop has been very impressed with the power of our CP Compressor,” said Jerry Freeze, General Manager, FRM. “They are known as some of the best in the industry and they help keep our team moving forward. We trust their products and they have been a big part of our race shop.”

Since then, Chicago Pneumatic has gone on to assist in many American engineering marvels, including the Apollo space mission to the moon and the erection of the World Trade Center.

“It’s pretty cool to see CP Compressors come back to Front Row Motorsports and support our program,” said Gilliland. “I can’t wait to get to Atlanta after not really getting the finish that we wanted at Las Vegas. We have a cool CP Compressors scheme and it’s the Fr8 Auctions 200, so it’s a big weekend for FRM. I’m ready to get to the track and have a good run on Saturday for everyone.”

Gilliland will be a favorite heading into Saturday’s race. In the two previous starts at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Gilliland has finished in the top-10. He finished fourth last year. Gilliland enters the race eighth in championship points.

  • Dan-O’s Seasoning Returns to Spencer Boyd Racing with Spicy Truck

Dan-O’s Seasoning Returns to Spencer Boyd Racing with Spicy Truck

Mooresville, NC (March 9, 2021) – It was announced today that Dan-O’s Seasoning will return as a sponsor of Spencer Boyd in 2021. As part of the history-making race at Daytona International Speedway Road Course in 2020, Boyd drove a green Dan-O’s Seasoning truck representing the brand’s original flavor. This year’s truck will be red promoting the spicy version of the seasoning.

“I use Dan-O’s on a weekly basis,” noted Boyd. “My nutritionist keeps my diet to a lot of chicken and fish. Thankfully Dan-O’s is low in sodium but big in flavor so my meals aren’t boring. I use it so much they even made a bottle with my face on it last year!”

Dan-O’s Seasoning is made with just the good stuff in life: all-natural unrefined sea salt, and the best herbs and spices that can be found. Spices and herbs come first, none of that fake stuff like gluten, artificial chemicals, sugar or GMO’s. Unlike other seasoning blends, they’ve cut sodium to just 50 mg per serving, so that you can stay healthy while loving what you cook.

The namesake of the seasoning, Dan-O himself loves the interaction with NASCAR fans, “I spend a lot of time on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook and love all the comments I get from Spencer’s fans. It will be fun to see the reaction to this Spicy Silverado Spencer will be driving at Pocono.”

Spencer and Dan-O did some cooking together last year and plan to do even more this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to stay in and cook at home. From simple recipes that can be found at www.danosseasoning.com/recipes/ to all day barbequing weekend events, Dan-O’s has you covered. The cooking duo wants fans to submit their Dan-O’s Seasoning recipes for a chance at Spencer and Dan-O cooking the best recipe in one of their videos.

Dan-O’s logo first appearance on the Youngs Motorsports No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado was at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last Friday while the debut of the ‘Spicy Truck’ will be later this season at Pocono Raceway.

  • Gilliland Jumps in Truck Championship, McDowell and Alfredo Put on Vegas Show

Gilliland Jumps in Truck Championship, McDowell and Alfredo Put on Vegas Show

A Recap of the Weekend Past

The NASCAR Cup Series began their west coast trip this past weekend at the mile-and-a-half Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Front Row Motorsports (FRM) haulers drove across the country to compete in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and Sunday’s 400-mile NASCAR Cup Series feature.

Friday night’s truck race on FS1 saw John Hunter Nemechek winning followed by Kyle Busch, Austin Hill, Stewart Friesen and Matt Crafton. Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Speedco Ford F-150 team finished 13th.

Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race was again televised live on FOX. Kyle Larson had the strongest car of the day to win. Brad Keselowski finished second, Busch third, Denny Hamlin fourth and Ryan Blaney fifth. Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang team finished 17th. Anthony Alfredo and the No. 38 Speedy Cash Ford Mustang team finished 24th.

Going into Friday night’s race, Gilliland was looking for his first win at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His previous best was a fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at the track, but his experience made him feel confident of winning.

Taking the green in sixth, Gilliland used all 134 laps to get his best result in the flashy Speedco Ford F-150. The team had to battle a tight truck throughout Stage One and Gilliland fell back to 19th. The Chris Lawson-led team, however, had big plans to get Gilliland back up front. Adjustments were made and Gilliland passed up to 14th after a quick Stage Two.

The run to the checkered, Gilliland and the No. 38 Speedco team showed their Vegas best. The team used three cautions to open the final stage to continue to make the truck faster and to also gain track position. The strategy put Gilliland second on a Lap 95 restart. Gilliland held strong, even on older tires. Although he couldn’t grab the lead, Gilliland kept pace with the leaders.

Three more cautions filled the final 34 laps of the race, but Gilliland used his experience and skill to finish 13th at the end.

The finish moved Gilliland to eighth in the championship standings. He’s 21 points out of fifth as he leads Ford Performance in the truck series.

TODD GILLILAND. No. 38 SPEEDO FORD F-150. FINISHED 13.
“We really did use all the race to get better, but we did. We had to use our set of tires, but it’s all part of the strategy to get back to the front. We just didn’t have the speed to race for the win. Then, we just had more tire wear than some others. I know that it was a good points night, but I also know that we can win these races, too. We’re going to be ready to go at Atlanta in a few weeks. We’re on the cusp of being really good.”

McDowell led nine laps during Sunday’s 400-miler and finished a solid 17th.

Starting fifth, McDowell was 12th during the Competition Caution on Lap 25. The Love’s Travel Stops Ford Mustang was fast out of the box, but need slight adjustments to loosen the car. At the end of the first Stage, McDowell was 21st after they had pit under a previous caution to continue to make the car better.

McDowell showed a lot of strength in the second Stage. He continued to climb through the field and the strategy was to run long before having to pit for fuel. With no cautions, it allowed the strategy to play out. McDowell took the advantage all the way to lead nine laps with his teammate in tow. McDowell finally had to relinquish the lead for fuel and tires. He finished the Stage 24th.

The final Stage, McDowell was again fast. A caution early in the Stage allowed the team to pit for tires and maintain with the leaders. McDowell just had a steady climb the remainder of the race with good execution on pit road and moves on the track. He moved into the Top-20 and really had a Top-15 Ford Mustang. McDowell raced hard with the cars around him and finished 17, just missing the Top-15 mark.

McDowell and the team are third in the NASCAR Playoff standings.

MICHAEL MCDOWELL. NO. 34 LOVE’S TRAVEL STOPS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 17
“Not the day we were hoping for in the Love’s Travel Stop Ford Mustang. We just got behind a little bit with some of the adjustments and just needed a little bit more speed. The car drove pretty well. We could stay wide-open for quite a long time, but just needed a little bit more speed. That was a fight all day. We finished 17th, not terrible, but we were hoping for more. I’m really proud of everybody and keep the good finishes rolling here and head to Phoenix, my home track. We’ll have some fun with the family and looking forward to being in my hometown.”

Alfredo led his first lap in the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A few strategy plays put Alfredo and the No. 38 Speedy Cash Ford Mustang team either leading or near the front throughout Sunday’s race. It was another great learning day and Alfredo has completed all but one lap in his last three races.

Alfredo started the race 27th and during a Lap 25 Competition Caution was in the same spot. Each week the team uses the opening laps to allow Alfredo to learn the track in his Cup car.

Alfredo was happy with his Speedy Cash Ford Mustang and moved to 20th by a Lap 46 Caution. Alfredo finished the first Stage in the 24th spot and had his best Stage of his young Cup career.

The second Stage, Alfredo and the No. 38 team elected not to split the stage in half, but instead pit at the end of their fuel window. This allowed for McDowell to lead and Alfredo to take over that spot when the 34 came to pit road. Alfredo made his first lap as the leader before pitting for fuel and tires. He showed good speed and had no problem leading the race.

After the stop, Alfredo was mired back a lap down. But, as the Stage ended, he was back on the Lead Lap. The Seth Barbour-led team used strategy again to put Alfredo up front in the final stage. On a late-race restart, Alfredo started near the front with 80 to go. But, the rookie wasn’t given any break and had to wait until the field went single-file to race for his spots back. He did just that. Alfredo made the climb back to 24th at the end.

It’s the second 24th-place finish and moved Alfredo up two spots to 27th points He’s only 12 points out of the Rookie of the Year spot.

ANTHONY ALFREDO. NO. 38 SPEEDY CASH FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 24
“It was a solid day for our Speedy Cash team. I was really happy with the speed. The FRM guys did a nice job of preparing the car. We stayed out on some older tires near the end to restart up front. I just got split and lost any momentum. There is nothing you can do. We were better than 24th today, but it’s a solid day with more experience. I’m disappointed about that restart, but we can’t complain. We did a lot of good things today, too.”

    TOYOTA QUOTES

JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK, No. 4 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
    Finishing Position: 1st

You won the race and beat the boss. How was that finish for you?

“I just can’t thank everyone at Toyota, Jack Irving (TRD), Kyle Busch, Uncle Eric (Phillips, crew chief) for this opportunity. It means a lot to me. Mobil 1 on board, coming back to the Truck Series, that was the plan, that was the goal. We came into this year with the hashtag here for wins and we are here for wins. I definitely think experience paid off tonight. We did an amazing job. I can’t thank Fire Alarm Services, ROMCO, all of our partners for all of there help. Thank you fans for being here. It’s awesome to have you guys back. I can’t wait to go celebrate.”

Once you were clear, what were you thinking?

“He was faster than me in stage two, so I really didn’t know. It was all about using our truck to the best we could possibly do, wrapping the bottom and taking the dirty air away. He had to run up and it created more lap time for him. Overall, it was an awesome victory. I wish my wife Taylor was here. Thank you for all of the support, my family, everyone involved. She had to stay home because we are about to be on baby watch. It’s awesome.”

What does it mean to get your first Truck Series win driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports?

“It’s an awesome day. The goal here for us was to come here and win. We’ve been close the last two weeks and we have fast race trucks. I can’t thank everyone enough – Jack Irving (TRD) from Toyota, Mobil 1, Fire Alarm Services, Kyle (Busch, team owner) for giving me this opportunity. The opportunity to come here and race in the Truck Series for Kyle Busch Motorsports is an amazing opportunity and we’re capitalizing on that. We want to be the dominant one this year and we want to win as many races as we can. It’s awesome to get it kicked off here in Vegas and beat the boss.”

How crazy were the restarts during the race?

“They definitely were. Overall, it was an amazing day. Our restarts were on point all day. Just a lot of fun and that’s all we can ask for. We’re here to have fun, we’re here for wins and we’re doing it.”

KYLE BUSCH, No. 51 Cessna Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
    Finishing Position: 2nd

What was missing at the end of the race to contend with John Hunter Nemechek?

“We just didn’t have enough in our Cessna Tundra. They were a little bit better than us so not sure what differences they had. I was just really tight and really rough over the bumps, trying to get through the bumps. Looking at the splitter wear, it was really rough on the splitter and wearing through it. We were battling some little things, but overall our truck was still fast. It was cool to come home one-two.”

Having your team truck win, does that help take away the sting of not winning yourself?

“Certainly, it does. Anytime you finish second to a team truck, you know how good the equipment is and it’s nice to see the equipment getting full potential and running up front. I’m exciting to have John Hunter (Nemechek) this year. When we had the opportunity to talk last year and to bring him in and to have Eric Phillips (crew chief) back on board, that was going to be a winning combination I felt like and here we are already reaping the benefits. I hate I finished second obviously, I want to win, but as a team owner, I get paid the same whether they win or I win and it’s nothing so I’m all good.”

AUSTIN HILL, No. 16 Ibaraki Toyopet Toyota Tundra, Hattori Racing Enterprises
    Finishing Position: 3rd

What was missing to contend with the Kyle Busch Motorsports Tundras tonight?

“You can see right there, our left front (tire) is corded really bad. We had a good night. We finally got on the right track. Those first two races didn’t go the way we wanted them to so this is a good way to bounce back, but it always stings a little bit when you come to a place that you’ve had success at and you don’t get the job done. Scott (Zipadelli, crew chief) and everybody back at the shop, they did a really good job bringing a really fast Toyota Tundra. All in all, we just came up short tonight. We just got too tight when the tires started cording and started chattering the left front. Can’t thank everybody at Ibraraki Toyopet enough for coming on board. Everything that all these guys do in Japan for us is a really big deal with everything going on. It’s really cool to see that. We’ll bounce back and go to Atlanta, a place that we’ve had some good runs at as well and see if we can get the job done there as well.”

STEWART FRIESEN, No. 52 Halmar International Toyota Tundra, Halmar-Friesen Racing
    Finishing Position: 4th

What was missing at the end of the race for your team?

“We just lacked a little grip on the restarts. It was good and great night for the Halmar International group. Halmar has been awesome behind us and one of the best sponsors in the business. Thanks to Chris Larson and everybody at Halmar International, everybody at TRD (Toyota Racing Development) for the help. We were close with our Tundra. We’re back in the top-five racing. From where this team was a year ago to where we are is really awesome. Got some momentum, good points day and just lacked a little grip on the restarts.”

MATT CRAFTON, No. 88 Menards/Slim Jim Toyota Tundra, ThorSport Racing
    Finishing Position: 5th

Can you take us through your race tonight?

“Just the restarts killed me to be totally honest. I could get to the 16 (Austin Hill) there at the end. I could get to his bumper and I could push him for a second and then he would get out on me. We just didn’t have the two lap run speed that we needed. We needed some long green flag runs and I think we would have been a lot better off. This Menards Toyota Tundra, not too terrible. Just keep working on it. Atlanta, we’re going over there in a couple weeks and that’s my favorite race track that we go to on the circuit so really, really looking forward to that one.”

  • Bucked Up to support Christian Eckes in Bucked Up 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Bucked Up to support Christian Eckes in Bucked Up 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

LAS VEGAS, Nev.: Bucked Up, a nationwide leader in the supplement industry, announced today that they have partnered with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) standout Christian Eckes for tonight’s Bucked Up 200 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

The Bucked Up logo will appear on the television panel of Eckes’ No. 98 ThorSport Racing Toyota for the 134-lap contest.
The relationship between Eckes and Bucked Up was introduced by Bucked Up branded athlete Joe Graf Jr., who carries the Bucked Up colors in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, including this weekend at LVMS for tomorrow’s Alsco Uniforms 300.

Eckes and Graf Jr. have a long-time friendship and have been competitors for the past 11 years, including launching their careers in Bandolero cars at Bethel (N.Y.) Motor Speedway. Since then, both drivers have gone on to blossom in other arenas of Motorsports competition, including the ARCA Menards Series – where both have visited Victory Lane.

This weekend, their relationship once again comes full circle.

“We are thrilled to partner with Christian and ThorSport Racing tonight at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Bucked Up co-founder Ryan Gardner. “Joe (Graf Jr.) and his family have always spoke very highly of Christian. When the opportunity was presented to have our name on a truck in a race that we are supporting, it was a no-brainer.”

Eckes will make his second Truck Series start of the season with ThorSport Racing. The Middletown, N.Y. native enters his fourth start at the 1.5-mile oval on the heels of a top-10 finish in the series’ most recent race at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course last month.
