  • NGROTS Advance: Tanner Gray & Dylan Lupton – Texas Motor Speedway

NGROTS Advance: Tanner Gray & Dylan Lupton – Texas Motor Speedway

Track: Texas Motor Speedway, 1.5-mile oval
    Race: 21 of 23
    Event: SpeedyCash.com 400 (220.5 miles, 147 laps)

    Schedule:
    Sunday, Oct. 25
    12:00 p.m…………..Race (FS1)
    (all times ET)

Tanner Gray, No. 15 Ford Performance F-150

Tanner Gray is ready to put his bad luck behind him Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway in his No. 15 Ford Performance F-150 in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race. Last weekend at Kansas, he could not avoid a truck that spun in front of him, ending his race early. The race before that at Talladega, he spun after hitting oil on the track. Gray was coming off two consecutive third-place finishes prior to his string of tough breaks.

Gray is hoping to get back to finishing in the top five Sunday at Texas. He did not get many laps in at the 1.5-mile intermediate track when the Truck Series raced there in July. At the start of the race he told his DGR-Crosley team the transmission was stuck in fourth gear. He was able to finish the first stage, but then went behind the wall for repairs for the remainder of the race.

In 20 Truck Series races to date this year, Gray has four top-five, seven top-10 finishes, has led four laps and sits 14th in the driver point standings. Of his four top-five finishes, three of them have been third-place finishes all within the last two months.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 from Texas Motor Speedway will be run on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 147-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 35 and 70.

Gray on Texas: “It depends on what they do with the PJ1 this weekend, but it usually makes for pretty good racing at Texas. Last time we were there it made the top work better than what I expected to start the race. It’s one of the faster mile-and-a-half tracks that we go to. Turns one and two are a little bit more tricky, in a truck anyway, than three and four. One and two take a little more technique to get through, but three and four we’re pretty close to wide open on new tires. It should be a good race. I’m definitely looking forward to it and trying to get back to where we were a few races ago.”

Dylan Lupton, No. 17 Crosley Brands F-150

Dylan Lupton returns to DGR-Crosley for the second of his three-race NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series program this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Lupton, a native of Wilton, Calif., invades Texas on the heels of a strong finish last weekend at Kansas Speedway in the ARCA Menards Series season finale. He started fifth in the Speediatrics 150 and after overcoming some handling issues early in the race, the NASCAR Next alumnus rebounded for a fourth-place finish. The effort was a career-best in two ARCA Menards Series starts. Kansas was his first time back in an ARCA car since Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in 2016.

Lupton, 26, has two prior starts at Texas Motor Speedway, both coming in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. His most recent start in April 2018 earned him a respectable 17th-place finish.

In his first 2020 start for DGR-Crosley last month in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, Lupton had a competitive showing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Starting deep in the field and without a lap of practice, he utilized the 134-lap race to pick up 20 positions from his 34th-place starting spot and finished a noteworthy 14th.

Lupton’s No. 17 Crosley Brands Ford F-150 this weekend will recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a special pink ribbon on the truck for the 21st Truck Series race of the season.
Sunday’s race will mark Lupton’s 10th career Truck Series start, seven with DGR-Crosley.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 from Texas Motor Speedway will be run on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 147-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 35 and 70.

Lupton on Texas: “I’ve been hungry to get back behind the wheel since our strong finish at Kansas Speedway last Friday. Hopefully, we can go to Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday and continue our good pace.

“The Truck Series fields are strong this year and that makes the races a lot more competitive, but the No. 17 DGR-Crosley team has been working hard to make sure we’re in a good spot for Sunday’s race. I like Texas. It doesn’t have a lot of room to race, but I feel we can go out there on Sunday and contend for a top-10 finish. We’ll be starting mid-pack based on the formula, so we’ll just have to follow the same formula we did at Las Vegas and hope for an even better outcome.”

    Schedule:

    12:00 p.m…………..Race (FS1)
    (all times ET)

Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150

Todd Gilliland heads to Texas Motor Speedway for Sunday’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race hoping to get the win that has eluded him on some of his recent races there. After winning a pole in 2019 and nearly winning the fall race in 2018, Gilliland hopes to finally take the checkered flag in his No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford F-150 this time around.

This will be Gilliland’s sixth start at Texas in the NGROTS. He nearly won there in the fall of 2018 when he was leading until he ran out of gas on the last lap, resulting in a fourth-place finish instead of a trip to Victory Lane. He also had a solid run at Texas in July until an accident ended his race with 15 laps to go while battling for fifth place.

In 20 starts this season, Gilliland has four top-five, nine top-10 finishes and has led 92 laps in the No. 38 Ford F-150 for Front Row Motorsports. He is 10th in the driver point standings.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 from Texas Motor Speedway will be run on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 12 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live on FS1. The 147-lap race will be broken into three segments with stage-ending cautions on laps 35 and 70.

    Quick Facts:
Number of Truck Series Starts at Texas: 5
    Best Start: 1st (6/7/19)
    Best Finish: 4th (11/2/18)
    2020 Driver Point Standings: 10th

Gilliland on Texas: “We’ve had some good runs at Texas before and I feel like our Frontline Ford F-150 is going to be really good. I feel like we have some unfinished business there. I’ve had some of my best races there, but never got the win to show for it. I think we are capable of getting a win this weekend, we just have to keep working as a team and try to avoid any mistakes.”

E1 Motorsports Inks Extension with NASCAR Driver Spencer Boyd

Concord, NC (October 20, 2020) – E1 Motorsports, a performance parts distributor and customization shop located in Houston, TX, has signed on to be the primary sponsor of Spencer Boyd’s No. 20 truck at Texas Motor Speedway in 2020. The specialists in Audi, VW, Porsche, lifted trucks, Jeeps, and other luxury vehicles have been an associate sponsor of Boyd since August of this year.

“The work E1 does is second to none,” said Boyd. “If you’ve invested in a performance vehicle, you have to have it taken care of by professionals and that’s exactly who E1 is. I know I wouldn’t want hacks tuning my race cars so our commitment to excellence is a great match.”

Founded in 2014, E1 Motorsports initially began as a parts drop shipper for automotive enthusiasts on national auto forums and local Facebook groups. E1 Motorsports has grown into a 14,000 sq. ft. full-service automotive repair and customization facility. Offering Genuine, OE, OEM, and Aftermarket maintenance and repair parts, as well as high-performance accessories, there isn’t a need you have that E1 Motorsports can’t resolve.

Leadership at E1 Motorsports commented on the partnership with Boyd, “For us, it’s about exposure. We are expanding our shop and there is a lot of work being done on cars right now, so we want people know where to go for the real deal. We are enthusiasts taking care of other enthusiasts and want more people to be part of the E1 family.”

“Whether you’re spending the weekend at Houston Motorsports Park with your club or at some other local track for track days, E1 Motorsports will take care of you and help get those lap times better,” Boyd said. “I look forward to having this killer paint scheme debuting in E1’s home state of Texas and finishing out the season strong with a great race. It’s Young’s Motorsports home track too so we’re gonna get ol’ No. 20 tuned up for this one.”

With three races left to go in the 2020 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season, the No. 20 team is fighting to finish in the top 20 in driver points. AirPower Foundation Joins Niece Motorsports, Trevor Bayne for Races at Texas and Phoenix

STATESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 19, 2020) – The AirPower Foundation will join Niece Motorsports and Trevor Bayne as the primary partner at Texas Motor Speedway on October 25 and again at Phoenix Raceway in the season finale on November 6.

“Texas Motor Speedway has produced a lot of memories for me, including my first Cup start and my first XFINITY win,” said Bayne.  “I’m proud to have the AirPower Foundation on the truck for my first Gander Truck Series start at the track.  Our military and their families make such a sacrifice to defend and protect us, which is why I’m so thankful to be partnering with an organization that helps to take care of and support them.”

The AirPower Foundation was established by the nation’s oldest civilian military support organization.

“The AirPower Foundation is honored to have this opportunity to be the primary partner with Niece Motorsports and Trevor Bayne for the races in Texas and Phoenix,” said Sid Eppes, Chairman of the AirPower Foundation.  “These races will allow us to reach a very large audience to inform the public of the work we do, and the critical need for funding to further assist with the numerous requests we receive every day for assistance from the over 72 organizations we support annually across the country.  We sincerely thank Trevor Bayne for all his support, and we thank Al Niece for his service and his continued support of all who serve.”

Since its formation in 1999, the AirPower Foundation provides funding for programs dedicated to supporting active duty military, veterans, and their families.  AirPower also supports projects to assist wounded warriors, ill or injured service members, our GoldStar families of the fallen, veterans of previous wars and educational projects to make sure the next generation understands the honor and sacrifice of serving our country. AirPower is the only organization authorized by the Vietnam POW organization NAMPOW to support them.

“I’m thrilled for the AirPower Foundation to come on board with Trevor and our team,” said team owner Al Niece.  “Our military is near and dear to me, having served in the United States Marine Corps.  It means a lot to me to have an organization that supports our military members and their families on one of our trucks, especially at Texas and in Phoenix before Veteran’s Day.”

Niece served in the United States Marine Corps, honorably serving the United States, and deploying to Vietnam.

Bayne, a Daytona 500 Champion, made his return to NASCAR racing earlier this season, putting together several strong runs and contending for the win at Talladega Superspeedway, in just his fourth NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) start.

While Bayne is relatively new to the NGROTS, he has no shortage of experience behind the wheel at Texas and Phoenix in NASCAR’s top-two series.

The Tennessee-native has 17 NASCAR Cup Series starts at the 1.5-mile track, in addition to nine NASCAR XFINITY Series starts, with a victory coming in 2011.

Bayne also has eight NASCAR Cup Series starts at Phoenix Raceway and 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series starts, where he has earned one top-five and six top-10 finishes.

James Buescher Set to Make his Truck Series Return at Texas Motor Speedway

STATESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 16, 2020) – NASCAR Truck Series Champion James Buescher will make his return to NASCAR and the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 25 in the FHE FracLock Chevrolet Silverado.

“I am thankful for everyone at Niece Motorsports and FHE for believing in me and providing me this opportunity to get back behind the wheel and once again showcase my talents,” said Buescher. “When I exited the sport back in 2015, it was not on my own terms. We had a lot going on at home in 2015, sometimes you have to take a step back and pay attention to God’s plan for your life. Right now, everything has fallen into place to come back and race at my home track at Texas Motor Speedway, and I could not be more excited! It’s going to be challenging after more than five years away from racing, but I am up for the challenge and can’t wait for the green flag to drop.”

The Texas native has 10 NGROTS starts at his home track, with five top-10 finishes and has never finished outside of the top-20.

Buescher will race with support from FHE, manufacturer of FracLock. The FracLock system is a combination of new technologies that makes well sites safer, more efficient, and lowers the cost of operations. This innovation redefines frac.

“We are thankful to have James join the team in Texas,” said general manager Cody Efaw. “James has a tremendous amount of experience in the Truck Series and at Texas Motor Speedway. We are excited for the wealth of knowledge and talent that he’ll bring to the table.”

Buescher, the 2012 Truck Series Champion, has 119 NGROTS starts, with his most recent coming in 2015. In those 119 starts, Buescher has six wins, five poles and 31 top-five finishes. In addition, Buescher has 62 top-10 finishes and has led 962 laps in NGROTS competition.

In 2015, Buescher made the move from being a full-time NASCAR driver to becoming a success REALTOR® in the Houston, Texas market, where he and his wife, Kris, currently operate The Buescher Group at Compass Real Estate.

Buescher will take the green flag at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 25 at 12 p.m. ET, airing live on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
