Tanner Gray, No. 15 Ford Performance F-150
Tanner Gray and his No. 15 Ford Performance team will head west this weekend as the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series takes on Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. Friday’s Strat 200 will mark the first time that the Rookie of the Year contender has raced at the mile-and-a-half track in Las Vegas.

The 20-year-old Artesia, N.M. native, will visit many tracks for the first time this season as he’s on his first full-time NASCAR national series campaign. While Gray doesn’t have any prior experience at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, he does have one mile-and-a-half Truck Series start, which occurred last season at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Gray also has four starts at 1.5-mile tracks in the ARCA Menards Series. In those four starts, he had first, second, and third-place qualifying efforts as well as one top-five and three top-ten finishes.

The Strat 200 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway will take place on Friday, Feb. 21, at 9:00 p.m. ET with a live broadcast on FS1. The 134 lap race will be broken into three segments with stage ending cautions occurring on lap 30 and lap 60.

Gray on Vegas: “I’m excited to head to Vegas this week. I’ve never even been to the track there, but I really enjoy racing on the mile-and-a-half tracks. I think it’ll be a good test for us to see where we stack up and what we need to work on to improve our speedway program. With the transition to Ford, we’re always learning and continuing to work with them to get better and find more speed in our F-150’s. I’ve watched a lot of film and talked with my Ford teammates, and everyone says that it’s a racers track and allows you to move around a lot. We only have one practice session to figure it out, but I’m ready for it. Hopefully, we can put the bad luck from Daytona behind us, and get a solid top-10 finish in Vegas.”

No. 38 Speedco Ford F-150, Todd Gilliland

Track: Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 1.5-mile oval
    Race: 2 of 23
    Event: Strat 200 (201 miles, 134 laps)

    Schedule:
    Friday, Feb. 21

    9:00 p.m…………Race (FS1)
    (all times ET)
Todd Gilliland, No. 38 Speedco Ford F-150
Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team will be back in action this weekend as the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series travels west to Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. Gilliland will welcome Speedco, a member of the Love’s Family of Companies, aboard his F-150 to take on the first 1.5-mile track of the season.

Speedco is a national network of 53 service locations that provides oil changes, preventive maintenance, inspection services, and tire offerings for drivers in the professional trucking industry. They have been an integral part of Front Row Motorsports’ NASCAR program and will continue to grow that relationship as the vibrant blue and yellow Speedco colors will adorn the sides of Gilliland’s F-150 for eight races this season.

The 19-year-old third-generation driver has plenty of experience racing on speedways. Throughout his three years competing in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, Gilliland has 17 combined mile-and-a-half starts. In those races, he has earned three top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. Las Vegas Motor Speedway seems to be a track that fits Gilliland’s driving style; in his last two attempts, he earned a seventh and fifth-place finish. Although luck wasn’t on their side last weekend, the No. 38 Speedco team hopes to carry the positive momentum and speed from Daytona into this weekend’s race in Las Vegas.

The Strat 200 will go green on Friday, Feb. 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET, with a live broadcast on FS1. The 134 lap race will be broken into three segments with stage ending cautions occurring on lap 30 and lap 60.

    Quick Facts:
Number of Starts at LVMS – 3
    Best Start – 3rd
    Best Finish – 5th
    Driver Point Standings: 18th

Gilliland on Las Vegas: “I’m really excited to head to Las Vegas this week, especially since we are welcoming a new sponsor on board. Speedco is going to be a big partner for us this year, and I’m looking forward to having them at the track and meeting everyone. The truck looks really good and is going to be awesome under the lights. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of my favorite mile-and-a-half race tracks because you can move around a lot. This race is colder than the fall race, so there’s a lot of grip which gives drivers more options and the ability to move around and try different lines. Vegas has a lot of character in the bumps, and it makes for a great race for the fans.”

Ford Performance NASCAR: Enfinger Gives Ford 100th Gander RV & Outdoors Series Victory

FORD POSTS 100th ALL-TIME NASCAR GANDER RV & OUTDOORS TRUCK SERIES VICTORY AS THORSPORT’S GRANT ENFINGER WINS IN A PHOTO FINISH AT DAYTONA

Friday’s victory by Grant Enfinger at Daytona International Speedway is the 100th all-time NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series victory in Ford history.

Enfinger, who won the 2019 series regular season championship, kicked off the 2020 campaign in thrilling fashion as he and Jordan Anderson banged door-to-door across the finish line. Enfinger was deemed the winner by 0.010 seconds.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Enfinger in victory lane. “It’s the 100th win for Ford in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, so it’s great for them. More importantly it’s the 25th anniversary for Duke and Rhonda Thorson, who have put so much into this sport.

“The biggest thing is we had a really good Ford F-150 to do it with,” continued Enfinger. “With four or five laps to go it was time to go and we were able to get up in the third groove and make some stuff happen. We got the lead on that big wreck going into one and two and that’s what kind of sealed the deal for us. My buddy, Ross (Chastain) gave me some good pushes at the end. I know he was trying to reach out on us and I was able to block him, but it’s just an unbelievable night.”

The win is Enfinger’s third in the series, but Ford’s all-time leader is Greg Biffle, who scored Ford’s only series championship in 2000, and won 16 times with the Blue Oval. Joe Ruttman is second with eight.

NASCAR Hall of Fame team owner Jack Roush is responsible for half of those wins as 11 different drivers combined to win 50 series events. Roush drivers who won at least one series race include: Greg Biffle (16), Mark Martin (7), Joe Ruttman (6), Carl Edwards (6), Kurt Busch (4), Travis Kvapil (4), Jon Wood (2), Erik Darnell (2), Mike Bliss (1), Ricky Craven (1), Colin Braun (1).

Overall, 30 different drivers have won at least one series race with Ford.

FORD’S ALL-TIME TRUCK SERIES WINNERS: Greg Biffle (16), Joe Ruttman (8), Mark Martin (7), Mike Bliss (7), Carl Edwards (6), Terry Cook (5), Rick Crawford (5), Mike Wallace (4), Kurt Busch (4), Travis Kvapil (4), Dave Rezendes (3), Ryan Blaney (3), Tony Raines (3), Tyler Reddick (3), Kenny Irwin Jr. (2), Stacy Compton (2), Jon Wood (2), Chase Briscoe (2), Erik Darnell (2), Grant Enfinger (2); Butch Miller (1), Boris Said (1), Rick Carelli (1), Ricky Craven (1), Colin Braun (1), Brad Keselowski (1), Joey Logano (1), Austin Cindric (1), Ben Rhodes (1), Johnny Sauter (1).

Defending race winner Austin Hill led twice for a total of 11 laps (of 106) en route to a sixth-place finish.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

DEREK KRAUS, No. 16 SHOCKWAVE Toyota Tundra, McAnally-Hilgermann Racing
    Finishing Position: 4th

    Describe your evening.

“Just surviving really. We survived all night. I just rode in the back with Ross (Chastain) there, and we kind of had a strategy there going into the race, and we executed the strategy and we ended up fourth.”

What’s it mean to get a good start to the season?

“This is really big start to the season, especially for my no. 19 SHOCKWAVE Toyota Tundra. I cannot thank SHOCKWAVE enough for coming on board for this race, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season.”

What did you learn in this race?

“Yeah, I learned a lot. Coming into this race, I didn’t really have a lot any drafting experience at all, so we learned a lot in practice and in the race, we kind of just bided our time. In the beginning, we had a few wheel weights fall off. We pulled in, got a lap down and then we got our lap back and just slowly just stayed in the back and raced with Ross for a bit. We followed him and then in the end we went.”

When you had to go down pit road early what were you feeling?

“I asked right away if we were going to go a lap down, and Kevin (Bellicourt, crew chief) said we probably were, but we would be the first car a lap down. Stages are kind of short – just a 20 laps – and it went by pretty quick actually. So we just tried to stay calm.”

AUSTIN HILL, No. 16 United Rentals Toyota Tundra, Hattori Racing Enterprises
    Finishing Position: 6th

Talk about what it was like out there.

“It was good. It was a fun race. I felt like we had a truck that could win, we just couldn’t get clear enough. The 98 (Grant Enfinger) was really strong all night. He could side draft really good. He’s truck was really stable. I felt like a lot of the changes that were made in the offseason for the superspeedway side made the trucks move around a little more, so it made the race a little better. You could really get down on somebody’s door and suck them back. It just made the two-wide racing really good. It was a handful all night. I feel like all of us drivers were white-knuckling it. We were coming off the bottom and it really wasn’t our choice to do that. It was just the way the trucks were moving around and the air disturbance was pretty high tonight. All in all it was a good night. It was fun. We’ll go on to Las Vegas, a place where we won at, and try to get it done.”

STEWART FRIESEN, No. 52 Halmar International Toyota Tundra, Halmar-Friesen Racing
    Finishing Position: 21st

    Talk about your day.

“The Halmar team has battled the last two months to build this deal from the ground up and we led some laps. We didn’t qualify good, but we were able to race towards the front of the pack most of the night and just got swallowed up there at the end. I’m really proud of these guys and what they put together. Thanks to Toyota for the awesome support. I’m really excited to get back in our Tundra next week at Vegas, and looking forward to the rest of the season.”

NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Quotes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 13, 2020) – McAnally Hilgemann Racing driver Derek Kraus was made available to media at Daytona International Speedway:

DEREK KRAUS, No.19 Shockwave Toyota Camry, McAnally Hilgemann Racing

What’s the biggest track you have been on before this?
“I did the ARCA test a few weeks ago, but before that it was Gateway and Las Vegas in at truck.”

What was your first impression going around this place?

“It was a lot of fun. I didn’t really know what to expect at first. There’s a lot of history here at Daytona. I took a few laps in the draft and that helped a lot.”

This truck race has a history of wrecks. Is there any apprehension to that at all?

“I think I can look past all of that and look forward to the race. I can bide my time, and be there at the end of the race. I feel like if I’m there at the end of the race, we will get a good finish.”

What is your plan for practice?

“The plan is to draft a little bit in practice. We will try to get a few Toyotas together to draft and then get a few single car runs.”

What’s your expectation for this race?
“Just to try to finish. As you said, there are a lot of wrecks and you have to keep your nose clean and keep the fenders on it for all the laps in Daytona. If we are there at the end of the race, I feel like we will get a good finish.”

Is qualifying a big deal for you?

“Yeah, we have to make the race. We do not have any points to fall back on to. We have to try to qualify good enough to lock ourselves in the show.”

What’s your deal for the rest of the year?

“Full-time trucks with MHR. I feel like we have a lot of good people behind us. We will go to the race track and try to finish all the laps and be there at the end of races.”

When did you see this coming together?

“It was in the works for a while. We were pretty much working on it all of the off season and towards the end of the off season, we put everything together and were able to make the announcement of being full time. I’m really having fun so far, and I’m really looking forward to the race of the season.”

What are your expectations for the season?

“I feel like just finishing all the laps and being at the end of the races will be really important for me, and just having good runs and good finishes will be good for the confidence as we go throughout the season.”

  • Diversified Motorsports Enterprises energized ahead of Truck Series debut

Diversified Motorsports Enterprises energized ahead of Truck Series debut

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla: Diversified Motorsports Enterprises’ big week is here, and they are ready to deliver.

With new marketing partner Teletrac Navman, Logan Puckett’s Diversified Motorsports Enterprises team heads to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway looking for big results in their NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series debut.

Armed with the veterans of driver Jesse Little and crew chief Bruce Cook, the duo looks to take their wealth of experience and produce magical results in Friday night’s NextEra Energy Resources 250.

“I’m so excited for our Diversified Motorsports Enterprises team,” said team owner Logan Puckett. “This is an awesome opportunity for me as a young, ambitious owner and to have the support of Teletrac Navman and the leadership of Jesse and Bruce. Our lean green Teletrac Navman machine looks sweet and I’m hoping for a good finish on Friday night.

Although Puckett is familiar with the characteristics of superspeedway racing, he’s hoping for the best and taking the positive approach to the Truck Series opener, the first race in a limited schedule for the DME team in 2020.

“I feel like we have a really good truck, it sure does look good with the Teletrac Navman colors too. Look, it’s Daytona. It can appear that you’re going to have an awesome night and then something completely out of your control happens and the night is over. We’re prepared for that.

“Our goal is to go to Daytona this weekend and make some noise. Get the truck into the show, draft to the front and try and stay there. If we can do that – it will give us some good momentum to take to our next race in March.”

Daytona is the first of at least a six-race deal with Teletrac Navman, a leader in fleet and management software.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to partner with Diversified Motorsport Enterprises and the No. 97 race team,” said Jens Meggers, president Teletrac Navman. “NASCAR is associated with brands that are influential in their space and we are honored to be among those brands during the 2020 season.

“Working together with Logan (Puckett) and the DME team will make for an exciting year in both of our first seasons. We are eager to take advantage of the exposure this partnership will surely bring.”

Driver Jesse Little, 22, will have a busy week at the “World Center of Racing.” In addition to the Truck Series, he’ll also be competing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.

“I’m super pumped to go to Daytona with JD and DME,” offered Little. “I’m proud to represent Teletrac Navman and be apart of Logan’s debut in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. Bruce and the rest of the DME guys have worked hard on the truck and I’m focused on winning!”

Despite 31 starts in the Truck Series, Friday night’s season-opener will be Little’s first race on a superspeedway.

Following Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, DME will return to NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series competition at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway in March 2020.

The NextEra Energy Resources 250 (100 laps | 250 miles) is the first of 23 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races on the 2020 schedule.
