With 35 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, Lupton has ten speedway starts under his belt. He has one previous start at Kentucky Speedway which occurred in 2015.
Thursday’s 150 lap race will be the second of six races at DGR-Crosley for the 25-year-old Wilton, Calif. native. Lupton will also be competing at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, ISM (Ariz.) Raceway and the season-finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
The Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 will broadcast live at 7:00 p.m., ET on FS1.
Lupton on Kentucky: “I can’t wait to get back in a DGR-Crosley Tundra this week at Kentucky Motor Speedway. Much like Chicagoland, I haven’t been to Kentucky in a long time, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity to go there and hunt ourselves another top-10 finish. I think my communication with my crew chief Blake [Blainbridge] is very solid and together we can improve our effort from Chicagoland and look ahead towards our remaining races.”
Tyler Ankrum, No. 17 Academy Sports and Outdoors/Railblaza Toyota Tundra
Tyler Ankrum will pilot the No. 17 Academy Sports and Outdoors Toyota Tundra at Kentucky Speedway this weekend for the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225. The 150-lap race will mark Ankrum’s seventh NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series start with DGR-Crosley this season and his first start at the 1.5-mile track in Sparta, Ky.
Out of Ankrum’s seven starts this season, five of those have been on various 1.5-mile speedways. Ankrum secured his career-best finish at Texas Motor Speedway, a SMI, Inc. sister track to Kentucky. The finish occurred during his second start at the track, Ankrum and the No. 17 team earned themselves a third-place finish after leading nine laps. Ankrum averages a 12th-place finish over the five 1.5-mile track starts this season.
The Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 will broadcast live at 7:00 p.m., ET on FS1.
Ankrum on Kentucky: “I’m excited about Kentucky. I think we’ve been getting more competitive every week and I believe what we have been working on with our Tundra’s will catalyze this weekend. I have high hopes and I think we can win. We’ve been strong on the mile-and-a-half tracks. I have to clean some things up and I think if we can have a perfect weekend, we will have a chance to win.”

Natalie Decker, No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra

Coming off an off weekend, Natalie Decker and the No. 54 N29 Technologies team is ready to get back to the track. Decker will make her second start at Kentucky Speedway on Thursday during the Buckle Up in Your Truck 225. The one-day show will include two practice sessions to get her Tundra where it needs to be before qualifying and the race later that evening.

Decker has one previous start at Kentucky in the ARCA Menards Series in 2017, where she earned a 12th-place finish. Decker has had six starts on various 1.5-mile tracks in her Toyota Tundra this season. Two of which she has had her season-best finishes. She has a 13th-place finish at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, a sister track to Kentucky. In Decker’s most recent race she finished 14th at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway, another 1.5-mile track.

The Buckle Up in Your Truck 225 will broadcast live at 7:00 p.m., ET on FS1.

Decker on Kentucky: “I’ve been to Kentucky before in the ARCA Menards Series, but that was in 2017, so it has been a couple of years since I was there last. I’m excited to go because my DGR-Crosley guys have been giving me trucks that I’ve been comfortable with and I’m starting to learn a little more on mile-and-a-half tracks. I’m ready to see how this week goes and hopefully get another good finish.”

  • NGOTS Chicagoland Quotes – Harrison Burton

NGOTS Chicagoland Quotes – Harrison Burton

    Toyota Racing – Harrison Burton
NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS)
    Chicagoland Speedway – June 28, 2019

Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Harrison Burton was made available to the media in Chicago:

Harrison Burton, No. 18 Safelite Auto Glass Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

You had a great race day in Iowa. Talk about your finish.

“That was a big confidence boost for me. To go out there and run up front with the 18 team was a lot of fun for me to go out and race the Xfinity Series guys, like (Justin) Allgaier. We were racing side-by-side for most of the day. It was a lot of fun. We had a good time out there. I am excited to get back out there with them in New Hampshire, but right now I am focused on the Truck Series.”

This place gets super-wide as the day goes on. How does it work for you?
“This is my first time here, so I’m learning along the way. The track widens out a lot; I just ran the ARCA race last night and was in the third groove almost all night. We weren’t as good as we needed to be, but we were a second-place car and that is where we finished. I had a good time racing all around, and having to pass cars on the top last night. Hopefully I can take what I learned there into this race and have it all dialed in.”

How much did running last night’s race help you?

“I think it helps you more with confidence. I had a good night last night. I felt like the night went pretty smooth; I did a pretty decent job, and I learned a lot. I feel more confident going into the Truck race because I made the top work. I can go an implement some of the things I learned in the ARCA race last night and go right into the Truck race with more laps than all the other guys and hopefully that will be an advantage for me.”

It looked like you had a lot of speed in your car from last weekend.

“We were fast last week, but we were good at Iowa the week before that as well. We finished third. We have been going in the right direction, especially in our short track program. We ran really good at Dover earlier this year as well, and had a chance to win, should have won, but I made a mistake. We have been building, especially in our short track program, is getting better and better, and our mile and a half program has been getting better as well. The last mile and a half that we ran was Texas and we finished fifth. Hopefully, we are building toward that first win.”

Are you picking your ARCA races strategically or is based on sponsor request?
“Kind of both. I got to pick and choose some of the ARCA races I went too. I chose all mile and a halves except for Pocono and Daytona. That way I can gain experience on bigger tracks, and those two are still aero dependent big tracks. I am learning a lot for the future. This sport is getting to you have to be good on so many types of race tracks. You come up and run short tracks every week for years and years and years, and then you come up to a mile and a half and you are expected to perform and win races. It is very different racing style. I am trying to get it all figured out and do the best job I can and have a ton of fun.”

Does it put more pressure on you or is extra motivation to have a car owner (Kyle Busch) that can come down an preform at a high level?

“It is motivation. You want to be that guy that wins races. You want to be that guy that when they see you in their rearview mirror they get to be a little nervous about it. That guy that has a chance to win every weekend. So I think that we are getting there and Kyle is a once in a lifetime type of talent. He is a great race car driver, so I am just trying to learn as much as I can so I can be that guy one day.”

How much does Kyle (Busch) work with you?

“He’s definitely involved in the team and is involved with the drivers. He has been pretty busy with the Cup deal recently, trying to get it dialed in. They have been on the West Coast, but when he is around he definitely helps out.”

How much does the points situation motivate you?
“I am really motivated by that. I wake up every morning and I know that I have an opportunity to make myself better. I know I have an opportunity to go out and make the playoffs in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series which is really cool. It is an awesome opportunity to have your back against the wall; it builds you as a person and as a race car driver. It pushes your limits and shows you how tough you can be. I think if we get in, which is definitely in our plans, we will be stronger for it and we will be a truck to watch out for.”

Have you had another time in your career that you have had to overcome something?

“Definitely. I think back to me and Todd Gilliland’s championship run in 2017. We went back and forth the whole year, and we both came into Dover with four wins and I came out with five wins, so that was cool for me to go out and win that race and make something happen there and boost my confidence going into the year after that. The people that tend to make something happen are the ones that stick around in this sport.”

Lupton will have crew chief Blake Bainbridge calling the shots atop the pit box, and Cup Series spotter Chris Monez guiding him from the spotter stand.

This weekend will mark the first time in the team’s history that they have had four truck entries. Lupton will be joined in the Camping World 225 by teammates Anthony Alfredo, Tyler Ankrum and Natalie Decker. The 150 lap Gander Truck Series race will air live on FS1 beginning at 9:00 p.m., ET on Friday, June 28.

Lupton on Chicagoland: “I’m really looking forward to this opportunity at Chicagoland with DGR-Crosley. I’ve been to Chicagoland before, and I hope that experience helps. It’s going to be a little bit of a learning experience getting used to these trucks again but I’m surrounded by good people who believe in me and that should make the learning curve a little easier. I’m confident, as a team, we can have a solid debut together and gain some momentum for our next race at Kentucky Speedway next month.”

Anthony Alfredo, No. 15 Steelsmith, Inc Toyota Tundra

Anthony Alfredo will rejoin his No. 15 Steelsmith Toyota team this weekend as he and his team travel to Chicago for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Camping World 225. Friday’s race will mark a Chicagoland Speedway debut for the 20-year-old NASCAR Next Alumni.

Although Alfredo has never raced on the 1.5-mile D-shaped track in Joliet, Ill., he does have six Gander Truck Series starts with DGR-Crosley under his belt. Five of those starts occurred on 1.5-mile tracks of Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. His career-best finish occurred at Charlotte Motor Speedway where he earned an eighth-place finish. Overall this season Alfredo has an average starting position of 16th and an average finish of 15th. Alfredo will rejoin his regular team this week with crew chief Chris Lawson calling the shots.

The NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Camping World 225 will be broadcast live on FS1 at 9:00 p.m., ET on Friday, June 28.

Alfredo on Chicagoland: “I am excited to head to another new track like Chicagoland Speedway. From what I’ve been told by David [Gilliland] and the guys it’s rough, abrasive, and fast which typically fits my driving style. We’ve been getting better as a team as the year has went on and our last outing on a mile-and-a-half track at Texas [Motor Speedway] went really well, so hopefully, we can carry that momentum into this weekend. I’m thankful to have another opportunity to race for DGR-Crosley with the great partners and supporters I have. I want to go get that first win!”

Tyler Ankrum, No. 17 Railblaza Toyota Tundra

Tyler Ankrum will return to the seat of DGR-Crosley’s No. 17 entry this weekend as he takes on Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway for the first time in his young career. Ankrum’s Tundra will be adorned with the green and white Railblaza colors this weekend as the outdoor mounting system company has picked up addition races with the 18-year-old San Bernardino, Calif. native.

Even though Ankrum doesn’t have any previous experience at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval of Chicagoland Speedway, he does have six NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series starts with DGR-Crosley this season with four of those starts occurring at other 1.5-mile tracks. Ankrum secured a career-best finish of third-place at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season. He also has a sixth and 11th-place finish on 1.5-mile tracks. Overall this season, with DGR-Crosley, Ankrum has an average starting position of 8.5 and finish of 12.5. He has finished on the lead lap in every race except Charlotte Motor Speedway where damage to his Tundra took him out of the competition early.

The Camping World 225 at Chicagoland Speedway will be broadcast live on FS1 at 9:00 p.m., ET on Friday, June 28.

Ankrum on Chicagoland: “I’m excited to be back with my DGR-Crosley guys this weekend at Chicagoland. I think with the speed we had at Texas [Motor Speedway] we should unload good, and be able to put together a solid race even though I’ve never been to Chicagoland. My preparation for this race is very important, and I’ve been working hard. My No. 17 team has been working hard at the shop as well. They have brought me fast trucks to other 1.5-mile track. I think we have a really good shot at performing well and running out front. We need a win, so we will do everything we can to get my Railblaza Tundra to victory lane.”

Natalie Decker, No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra

Natalie Decker and her No. 54 N29 Technologies team will take on the 1.5-mile track of Chicagoland Speedway Friday night for the Camping World 225. This will mark Decker’s second start at the D-shaped speedway in Joliet, Ill.

The 21-year-old has one previous start at Chicagoland Speedway which occurred in 2018 in the ARCA Mendards Series. Decker earned a 12th-place finish in her first trip to the speedway. Since joining DGR-Crosley in 2019, she has races on five different 1.5-mile track on the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series circuit. Decker earned a career-best 13-place finish on a 1.5-mile track at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway earlier this season. In nine races with DGR-Crosley Decker has an overall average 19th-place starting position, and an average finish of 23rd.

The Camping World 225 will broadcast live on FS1 at 9:00 p.m., ET on Friday, June 28.

Decker on Chicagoland: “I’m ready to get back to another mile-and-a-half track with my DGR-Crosley team. The bigger tracks were very new to me last year, but we’ve ran on a few of them now in the Truck Series. I’ve learned a lot each race and think that we can put together a solid race.”
