  • CARSHIELD TO SPONSOR CHASTAIN, NIECE MOTORSPORTS IN CARSHIELD 200

CARSHIELD TO SPONSOR CHASTAIN, NIECE MOTORSPORTS IN CARSHIELD 200

STATESVILLE, N.C. (June 21, 2019) – Officials with Niece Motorsports and CarShield have solidified an agreement that will see CarShield serving as the primary sponsor of Ross Chastain’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado in Saturday’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) CarShield 200 presented by CK Power at Worldwide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

Headquartered close to Worldwide Technology Raceway at Gateway, in nearby Saint Peters, Mo., CarShield offers vehicle service contracts designed to pick up where automobile owners’ existing warranty drops off and to fill gaps in coverage. CarShield was founded in 2005 by principals Nick Hamilton, Mark Travis, and Rick Brettelle and specializes in shielding its members from the high cost of automobile repairs by offering a wide range of flexible vehicle service plans.

Earlier this month, Chastain announced a change of direction declaring his efforts in the NGOTS would become his primary focus, a departure from his original intention of driving fulltime in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Since then, Chastain’s pursuit of the Truck Series title has taken on a life of its own and affectionately coined on social media as the “Melon Man Challenge,” – a nod to his family’s roots in the watermelon farming industry.

“The opportunity to get on board with Ross and Niece Motorsports for the CarShield 200 was just too good to pass up,” said Hamilton. “CarShield’s relationship with Ross dates back to 2016 and we’re thrilled to partner with Niece Motorsports this weekend. As the entitlement sponsor of the race, it makes sense to expand the program to include a high-profile, on-track element. Ross is a proven winner and we’re happy to back him in the ‘Melon Man Challenge’ as he looks to pick up another win this weekend and work his way inside the top 20 in points.”

Chastain has earned one win, three top-five and nine top-10 finishes in NGOTS competition in 2019 and currently sits 35th in points.

In order to qualify for the division’s playoffs, Chastain must collect another win and race his way into the top 20 in points over the next six races before the checkered flag in the regular-season finale at Michigan International Speedway in August.

“I’m going to the racetrack with the best team in the business so I’m confident that we can win another race and work ourselves inside the top 20 over the next six races,” explained Chastain. “I’m proud that Nick, Travis, Rick and the CarShield team have jumped in with both feet this weekend. We’re expecting to run up front, look to win another race, and put what happened at Iowa Speedway behind us.”

“We are thrilled to have CarShield come on board this weekend at Gateway,” said team owner Al Niece. “Ross and this team are fired up and looking to visit Victory Lane again.”

The CarShield 200 presented by CK Power from Worldwide Technology Raceway at Gateway will be televised live on FS1 Saturday, June 22 beginning at 10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The 11th of 23 races on the 2019 NGOTS schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

    Notes:

    – Although this is his first Gander Trucks start at World Wide Technology Raceway, Creed won the 2018 ARCA event at the track from the pole.

    – Creed and the No. 2 team will utilize chassis no. 310 this weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway. Creed competed with this chassis at Martinsville in Mach where he qualified fourth.

    Quote:

“I feel like our team has some good momentum but I’m looking to build on that this weekend. We’ve put together back-to-back top-10 finishes which is pretty solid, but that’s not enough for our team which says a lot about how competitive my guys are. I enjoy racing at World Wide Technology Raceway and I had success there last year in ARCA. Hopefully we can put a good run together, get to victory lane and grab that last $50,000 in the Triple Truck Challenge.”

    – Moffitt is currently fourth in points, 51 points behind the leader.

    Quote:

“Our team is carrying a lot of momentum into this weekend. We’re locked into the playoffs now so it changes our mindset on strategy. We don’t have to race for stage points as much and we can make more aggressive calls during the race that could put us up front to compete for more wins. World Wide Technology Raceway is an interesting track with turns one and two handling distinctly different from turns three and four so we’ll see what we have when we unload there and hopefully we can go win $150,000.

“We still have some awesome opportunities for fans with the Destiny Homes sweepstakes. Fans can go to www.smartserieshomegiveaway.com to enter to win a Chevy Silverado or $10,000 cash.”

Anthony Alfredo, No. 17 Steelsmith, Inc Toyota Tundra

Anthony Alfredo will return to the No. 17 Toyota Tundra this weekend as he takes on his sixth NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series start of the season. World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, formerly known as Gateway Motorsports Park, is a 1.25-mile oval located outside of St. Louis, Missouri.

Alfredo is no stranger to the track. In 2018, he had two starts, one in the K&N Series East and the other with the ARCA Menards Series. Alfredo finished respectively 9th and 7th in both K&N and ARCA. With two top-10 finishes at the track, he looks forward to keeping that trend going in his Toyota Tundra during the CarShield 200.
World Wide Technology Raceway will be Alfredo’s first 1.25-mile he has raced at this season. Alfredo has run five 1.5-mile tracks this year. His Gander Trucks best finish was at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway where he earned an 8th-place finish.

The CarShield 200 will broadcast on June 22 on FS1 at 10:00 p.m., ET.

Alfredo on Gateway: “I am really looking forward to going to Gateway after having the opportunity to race their last year in the K&N Pro Series. I have more confidence as we continue to improve every week. It will also be fun to go back short track racing since I’ve been running all these big tracks. I’m thankful for the opportunity that I have because of my amazing team, partners, family and supporters.”

Natalie Decker, No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra

Natalie Decker and the No. 54 N29 Technologies team will head to World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway this weekend for the CarShield 200. Formerly known as Gateway Motorsports Park, World Wide Technology Raceway is a 1.25-mile oval located just outside St. Louis, Missouri.

The CarShield 200 won’t be Decker’s first time at the raceway. She has one ARCA Menards Series start in the Gateway city. Her lone start came in 2018 where she went on to finished 15th in her track debut. This weekend’s race will mark Decker’s ninth NASCAR Gander Truck Series start of the season. Decker currently sits 19th in driver points with a best finish of 13th which occurred at the 1.5-mile track of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend will be the third time that Decker has raced on a track less than 1.5-miles in length. In her two previous starts at shorter tracks this season, she finished 17th in both attempts.

The CarShield 200 will broadcast on June 22 on FS1 at 10:00 p.m., ET.

Decker on Gateway: “I’m excited to go to another short track this weekend! I have been to Gateway a few times in my Super Late Model and once in an ARCA car. I’m more familiar with this track than most of the ones we are going to this year. I’m hoping to learn more about this track. I have never raced a truck here before, so it will be different, but I’m ready to get back to the race track this weekend.”

  • Chad Finley ready for more at Iowa Speedway

Chad Finley ready for more at Iowa Speedway

NEWTON, Iowa. – On the heels of a strong performance at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway last month, Chad Finley Racing (CFR) heads to Iowa Speedway with driver Chad Finley looking for their second career top-10 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) finish in Saturday night’s M&M’s 200.

In his second NGOTS start of the year in the backyard of NASCAR country at Charlotte, Finley put on a thrilling performance which included rallying from a mid-race miscue to bolt into the top-10 before a late-race restart buckled the team’s opportunity to capitalize on their strong night.

Knowing they could have easily finished inside the top-10, being in the wrong lane at the wrong time on the final restart of the night hindered Finley’s opportunity at earning his best speedway finish in Trucks and instead left the Mooresville, N.C.-organization with an 18th place finish.

Still, the team is upbeat about their Charlotte effort and plans to finish what they started in the Midwest at Newton’s Iowa Speedway.

“I’m really hoping for a strong weekend at Iowa Speedway,” said Finley. “I’m really proud of the efforts of my Chad Finley Racing team and their ability to put a fast Strutmasters.comAir Lift Company and Auto Value Certified Service Centers Truck on the race track. No doubt we’re going to Iowa this week planning to finish what we started at Charlotte.”

It’s been 10 years since Finley has been to Iowa’s 0.875-mile short track. In 2009, Finley, a native of DeWitt, Mich. competed in an ARCA Menards Series race driving for Brad Keselowski Racing. Despite qualifying mid-pack, Finley rallied to earn a ninth-place finish in just his second career ARCA start.

His second consecutive top-10 finish at the time is one of 11 top-10 finishes in 20 career ARCA Menards Series races that spans over five seasons. While competing at a track a decade ago can be tough to rekindle, Finley still has a good memory of the facility and the type of racing it embraces.

“Iowa is a fun place,” Finley added. “It’s been a long time, a real long time since I’ve been there, but I’m hoping the fundamentals are pretty much the same.

“While there’s plenty of racing grooves, track position and tire conservation is still incredibly important. Thankfully, when it comes to my team, I feel like I have one of the best in the business in my crew chief Bruce Cook and look forward to seeing what we can do on Saturday night.”

Strutmasters.comAir Lift Company and Auto Value Certified Service Centers will serve as the primary marketing partners for Saturday night’s anticipated thriller.

Since 1999, Strutmasters.com has served as an industry leader in suspension parts and air to non-air suspension conversion kits.
Finley also has additional support from Northsidetowing.net and XLT Engineering as well for the 10thrace of the season.
In addition to his seven prior Truck starts, Finley, 27, has 20 ARCA Menards Series starts to his credit.

In his years of ARCA competition between 2009 and 2018 Finley has mounted one-win (Nashville 2017), eight top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, including a pole (track record) at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in 2009.
Finley is the son of former ARCA winner and NASCAR driver Jeff Finley.

The M&M’s 200 (200 laps|175 miles) is the 10th of 23 NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series races on the 2019 schedule. Practice begins on Sat., June 15 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. A final practice session is set for 10:30 a.m. – 11:55 a.m. Qualifying is set for later in the day beginning at 4:35 p.m. The 32-truckfield will take the green flag shortly after 7:30 p.m. with live coverage on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Satellite Radio, Channel 90). All times are local (Central).

Decker has one previous start at the 7/8-mile track in Newton, Iowa. In 2018, she earned a 16th-place finish while racing in the ARCA Menards Series. However, Iowa will be the shortest track that Decker has raced at in her Toyota Tundra this year. Decker’s shortest track has this year been Dover (Del.) International Speedway a one-mile concrete oval, where she finished 17th. Her season-best 12th-place finish this year was occurred at the 1.5-mile track of Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.

The M&M’s 200 presented by Casey’s General Store will be broadcast live on FS1 at 8:30 p.m., ET on Saturday, June 15.

Decker on Iowa: “Iowa is a fun track, I have been there once before in an ARCA car. It’s a short track but completely different from any other short track. You can race on the bottom, middle, or top. I’m happy this race is on my schedule with DGR-Crosley! I hope to learn more about this track this weekend and have fun!”
