    Driver: Angela Ruch
    Follow the Team: @NieceMotorsport; @Angela_Ruch

Angela Ruch on Racing at Texas: “I’ve had this date circled on my calendar since I left Texas earlier this year,” said Ruch. “Our 44 team showed good speed all weekend and we were on the move early in the race before our incident. I’m excited to get back behind the wheel in Texas and compete at this fast track under the lights again Friday night.”

Ruch at Texas: Friday night’s race at Texas Motor Speedway marks Ruch’s second at the 1.5-mile track. In her first start at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season, Ruch was on the move early, passing seven trucks in under 15 laps, before being involved in an accident knocking her out of the race and finishing 30th.

This will be Ruch’s fourth start with Niece Motorsports. The new mom has made five NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series starts so far this season with a best finish of eighth in Daytona.

On the Truck: The No. 44 Chevrolet will carry The Ruch Life colors this week at Texas Motor Speedway. The Ruch life not only follows the emotional and unpredictable journey of Angela Ruch’s return to the race track, but also her and her husband’s journey to adopt a baby and start a family.

“My Niece Motorsports team has been very fast all year, and we have a tall order ahead of us to get both in the top-20 in points and win a race before the playoffs start.  But that’s a mountain we’re willing to climb.”

Chastain on Pursuing Truck Points: “After much consideration and many conversations, I’ve decided to pursue championship points in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, effective immediately,” said Chastain.

“This shift will allow me to be in the truck race this weekend in Texas, and I’m grateful to everyone at Niece Motorsports for giving me this opportunity.

“I’m thankful to everyone at Johnny Davis Motorsports and Kaulig Racing for their efforts this year.  I will continue to run races for each organization where sponsorship for 2019 has been solidified.

“I know this is the best decision for me at this time and am thankful for everyone who has and will continue to support me moving forward into 2019 and beyond.”

Chastain at Texas: Chastain has six NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) starts at Texas Motor Speedway. In those six starts he has earned one top-10 finish, two top-15 finishes and four top-20 finishes.

Earlier this season at Texas Motor Speedway, Chastain had a strong truck, running up front for much of the race.  However, the No. 45 Chevrolet had a tire issue with a few laps remaining and had to limp to the finish.  Even with the late-race issue, Chastain still managed a top-10 finish; a seventh-place result.

In addition, Chastain has made nine NASCAR XFINITY Series starts at the 1.5-mile track, with his best finish of 11th coming last fall.

Chastain also has three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway.

On the Truck: The No. 38 Chevrolet will represent Niece Equipment this Friday at Texas Motor Speedway.  Team owner Al Niece is the founder and president of Niece Equipment, headquartered in Buda, Texas.

In addition, the No. 38 Chevrolet will carry the TrüNorth™ colors.  TrüNorth™ is the leading provider of commercial asset related warranty programs and services for dealers, fleets, owner-operators, and commercial finance companies.

Benjamin at Texas: Friday night’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway marks Benjamin’s first start at the 1.5-mile track.

Additionally, Benjamin has eight starts under his belt in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, coming in 2017 and 2018.  In those eight starts, he earned two poles; qualifying in the top-10 in seven races and in the top-12 for all eight.  He earned two top-five and three top-10 finishes in those eight starts and led multiple laps in half of those starts.

RAILBLAZA, an outdoor mounting system company, will be the primary sponsor on Ankrum’s No. 17 Toyota Tundra as he competes in the SpeedyCash.com 400.

This weekend will mark the first time that the New Zealand based company has entered the NASCAR scene as a primary sponsor. They will jump on board for Ankrum’s fifth Gander Trucks race of the season after missing the first three races due to age restrictions.

“I’m really excited to be carrying the RAILBLAZA colors at Texas this weekend,” said Ankrum. “It’s a special weekend for me altogether but being able to welcome a company like RAILBLAZA into the sport is really awesome. Being an outdoors guy, the partnership makes perfect sense. Hopefully, we will put on an exciting race and get our RAILBLAZA Tundra a good finish.”

The 18-year-old San Bernardino, Calif. native has one previous start at the 1.5-mile track in Texas where he earned a career-best finish of sixth-place. Ankrum has two other 1.5-mile starts this season where he earned an 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway and finished 27th at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway when a late-race incident took him out of contention. Ankrum sits 16th in driver point standings after missing the first three races of the season.

Not only will Ankrum be racing at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, he will also be receiving his high school diploma before climbing in for 250 miles of racing. Ankrum is part of the 2019 Mooresville High School graduating class but will miss the formal ceremony to be at the race track. It’s putting a spotlight on the series with added incentives that we don’t always get in the Gander Trucks that has our team especially motivated to perform. The truck we brought is one of my favorites of the season and we finished second here with it a few months ago. I feel like we’ve only gotten stronger as a team as the season has progressed, we’re still looking to have that flawless night that will end with this No. 52 Chevy in victory lane. – Creed has qualified inside the top 10 in every race this season.

    Quote:

“I’m excited for Texas. We had a good run going here in the spring and were set up for one of our strongest finishes of the season before the jack bolt broke and ruined our night. The Triple Truck Challenge starts this week and I’m pumped for that. This team works very hard each and every week to bring fast trucks to the track, but with the added incentives for these next three races I think the bar is set higher. It’s definitely provided more motivation for me to lay it all out on the line and hopefully we can park our Silverado in victory lane and get a big paycheck.”

    – Moffitt ranks second among series regulars in laps led with 125.

    Quote:

“Texas is the beginning of an exciting month for us with the kickoff of the Triple Truck Challenge. A lot of my sponsors pulled together for this Midwest swing and the Triple Truck Challenge. If I’m able to win all three races of the Triple Truck Challenge we’ll be giving away a $250,000 S.M.A.R.T. home from Destiny Homes, a $50,000 Chevy Silverado and $10,000 to some lucky fans. It’s a fun way to get the fans interested and hopefully following along with us. Gander Outdoors gave the teams some incentive so it’s nice of my sponsors to be able to do the something for the fans too.

I feel really good heading into Texas this weekend. We had a fast truck there earlier this year and I just put us in a bad position that took us out of contention. We’re going back with a similar setup, it will be a little different without the PJ1 through Turns One and Two. I think it’s going to make for more single-file racing but we will see when we get there, and hopefully we can repeat the speed that we had in the truck there in the spring.”

Anthony Alfredo, No. 15 Steelsmith, Inc Toyota Tundra

Anthony Alfredo is ready to get back in his No. 15 Steelsmith Toyota Tundra this weekend after picking up a career-best finish in his last NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series start last month at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Friday’s SpeedyCash.com 400 will mark Alfredo’s fifth-career Gander Trucks start. All four of his races have occurred at 1.5-mile tracks this season. He has one previous start at the track in Fort Worth, Texas and will be looking for revenge from his first start there where a fiery crash took him out of contention. Alfredo has had a streak of bad luck this season that he is hoping he can shake this weekend in Texas. So far this season he has one top-10 qualifying effort and one top-10 finish. He has an average finish of 17th after four races.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 will be televised live on FS1 on Friday, June 7 at 9:00 p.m., ET.

Alfredo on Texas: “I’m looking forward to going back to Texas this week. We had great speed there the last time we went earlier this year and had a shot at a top-five finish before our night ended early when we got sucked around and crashed. I also like the track a lot and feel that after a couple more laps under my belt from Charlotte, we can be even more competitive. I’m grateful for my opportunity to race for DGR-Crosley and work with such an ambitious crew. I also want to thank my partners, family, and supporters who make this all possible for me. I’m determined to make them all proud this weekend.”

Tyler Ankrum, No. 17 May’s Hawaii Toyota Tundra

RAILBLAZA has partnered with Tyler Ankrum for the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway (Fort Worth, Texas) on Friday.

In honor of his accomplishment, Texas Motor Speedway will hold a brief ceremony before pre-race driver introductions.

The pre-race ceremony and SpeedyCash.com 400 will be broadcast live on FS1 beginning at 8:00 p.m., ET.

Ankrum on Charlotte: ““I’m really excited to be carrying the RAILBLAZA colors at Texas this weekend. It’s a special weekend for me altogether but being able to welcome a company like RAILBLAZA into the sport is really awesome. Being an outdoors guy, the partnership makes perfect sense. Hopefully, we will put on an exciting race and get our RAILBLAZA Tundra a good finish.”

Natalie Decker, No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra

Natalie Decker will take on Texas Motor Speedway for the first time in her young career this weekend driving her No. 54 N29 Technologies Toyota Tundra. She is looking forward to getting back on track after a rough start in the last NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway last month.

This weekend will mark Decker’s seventh Gander Trucks start, which have all occurred this season. Even though it will be her first time racing at Texas Motor Speedway, she is no stranger to mile-and-a-half tracks. Four of her six starts are at other intermediate tracks like Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway, Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway, and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Her best mile-and-a-half finish was when she finished 13th at Las Vegas, which was also her best finish of the season.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 will be televised live on Friday, June 7 at 9:00 p.m., ET on Fox Sports 1.

Decker on Texas: “It feels like these last two off weekends are taking forever. I’m so excited to get back to the track and back in my truck! I have never been to Texas, but I’m very excited to go to a new track and learn. I really feel like my N29 Technologies Tundra will be fast right off the truck, we just have to be patient and learn as much as we can on Friday. We have three practice sessions, so we should be ready to go by Friday’s race.”

STATESVILLE, N.C. (June 4, 2019) – NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) winner Ross Chastain will officially declare for NGOTS points for the remainder of the 2019 season.

“After much consideration and many conversations, I’ve decided to pursue championship points in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, effective immediately,” said Chastain.

“This shift will allow me to be in the truck race this weekend in Texas, and I’m grateful to everyone at Niece Motorsports for giving me this opportunity.”

Chastain, who at the beginning of the season declared for NASCAR XFINITY Series points, will have to win a race and be in the top-20 in NGOTS drivers points for a chance to compete in the series playoffs.

“I’m thankful to everyone at Johnny Davis Motorsports and Kaulig Racing for their efforts this year,” said Chastain.  “I will continue to run races for each organization where sponsorship for 2019 has been solidified.

“I know this is the best decision for me at this time and am thankful for everyone who has and will continue to support me moving forward into 2019 and beyond.”

  • Toyota NGOTS Charlotte Quotes – Todd Gilliland

Toyota NGOTS Charlotte Quotes – Todd Gilliland

    Toyota Racing – Todd Gilliland
NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS)
    Charlotte Motor Speedway – May 17, 2019

Kyle Busch Motorsports driver Todd Gilliland was made available to the media in Charlotte:

TODD GILLILAND, No. 4 Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports

You were one of the fastest trucks in first practice. How is your Tundra for tonight’s race?

“It was pretty comfortable. I don’t think we have race-winning speed yet, but I feel like we’re in the ballgame. That’s a big change from other times. We unloaded really good. We were fast in the first practice. We’re kind of back to where we started. If there’s any good adjustments we can make now, it’s going to be the right time and hopefully we can contend in the race.”

Is this race any different for you being pretty much in your backyard here in North Carolina?

“It’s okay. I don’t think I really like racing here as much. I like being in the hotel with my team and kind of being focused. I feel like once you get on the plane going out of town, your mindset is on that race and with your team. It’s a little bit harder here for me, but at the same time it’s something you have to balance and get your focus going.”

What’s been the toughest adjustment for you this season?

“Communication in general with my team, my teammates and everything. I think unloading fast is a big part of it and that’s not something I can work on. I just have to work on the things that I can control and I’m kind of focusing on that. Even throughout the races if there’s something good. If I got one good restart and the rest were bad, I need to kind of dissect that one of why it made it so much better than the rest.”

Is there anything about racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway that you enjoy?

“I just really like that they’re really trying to make it a multi-groove race track with the PJ1. All of truck practice we ran right on the bottom and it has really good grip down there. It takes a while for the top to come in. Racing at Kansas, that was probably one of my favorite races yet and being able to run top to bottom and if your truck is good, you can make passes. That’s what hurts us at some of the truck race tracks we go to – you get stuck behind. We have a little bit more splitter angle this weekend. NASCAR is trying a lot to make the trucks the best race out here this weekend.”

What do you predict about the race based on first practice and the PJ1?

“I think it’s going to be good. The PJ1 has a lot of grip just where you run through it. It all happens with heat. You see that at every race track. Once people start running up there and they get a good lap, the next guy runs up there and then five minutes later everyone is up there. It’s just about paying attention if you can be the first one to make it work, but if anything else, just not losing too much time and being able to work in it.”

Is your performance as of late reassuring for you especially after your top-five finish in Kansas?

“Absolutely. It’s been a long time since we qualified in the top five and finished in the top five. That was our goal. At the end of last year – middle of last year, I felt like no matter what we did, we were running back half of the top five and if I missed out or the pit crew or something, we’d finish eighth or 10th. This year we’ve struggled to run in the top 10, so that was definitely a good thing for our whole team. We’ve kind of just said we’re going to go and take our best truck and put our best foot forward every single week and we’re just going to make it happen.”

How do you keep yourself from getting down or losing any confidence during times that you’ve struggled this year?

“It has to do with the people around you. My confidence was really low, but I just look back and say we can all do it. My crew chief, Marcus Richmond, has won a lot of races. I’ve won a lot of races and it’s just about putting it together and getting the whole weekend more fluid.”

Has Kyle Busch talked to you about it at all?

“I haven’t really talked to him too much about it. He’s got so many good people at Kyle Busch Motorsports that know exactly what they’re doing. It’s just easier sometimes to talk to someone that’s been to the race track every week with us. Kyle sees a lot of different things from the outside that are really helpful as well. Just a couple of different point of views.”

What are your thoughts on the ‘Triple Truck Challenge’ starting in a couple of weeks?

“I think it’s really cool. The guy from Gander Outdoors was at Daytona and he was really pumped up. Just to see people that are excited about your series, it makes a big difference to me. Every time I go to the race track, I’m so excited to just get in a race car and go to another race track, so to see someone that shares the same excitement about that and to be involved with our series the way those guys are is really cool to see.”

How do you handicap Texas, Iowa and Gateway during the Challenge?

“We’re going to go win them all. I don’t know. That’s our goal every time we go to the race track. It’s a lot of fun having that goal. Hopefully once we get the first win, they’ll keep rolling. Texas has been a really good race track for us. Iowa, I’ve won two K&N races there. Gateway, I finished second last year. Sounds pretty good!”

Do you look to your dad at all for advice when you have had struggles this season?

“Absolutely. I think any race car driver has been through it at some point. Whether it’s in late models up to the Cup Series. It’s just one of the situations you get put in and put yourself in. I made a lot of mistakes and put my whole team behind. My team has made mistakes and put us all behind too. We’re all in this together and it’s about admitting your mistakes and going out there the next week better.”
