  • Young’s Motorsports Tabs Mason Massey for Full-Time Truck Series Effort in 2024

Young’s Motorsports Tabs Mason Massey for Full-Time Truck Series Effort in 2024

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: (February 12, 2024): Young’s Motorsports confirmed today the signing of Douglasville, Ga. native Mason Massey as the driver of the team’s flagship NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series No. 02 entry for the entire 2024 season beginning with Friday night’s Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Massey has over 20 years of experience behind the wheel, launching his racing career at age five. Since then, he has garnered more than 200 feature wins, 11 championships, and 10 track records across multiple series, including the US Legends Pro National Championship.

Amongst the many Late Model victories to Massey’s credit during his tenure in the Bill Elliott Racing Development Program is the 2012 triumph in the Alabama 200. He eventually graduated to NASCAR in 2019, competing in the Truck Series before advancing to the Xfinity Series in 2020.

After part-time Xfinity stints in 2020 and 2021, respectively, the Georgian captured the attention of many with an impressive sixth-place finish in the spring 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series contest at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway in front of the hometown crowd.

With 32 more NASCAR starts to his resume since his first career NASCAR top-10 effort, Massey has landed with Young’s Motorsports, a longtime fixture in the Truck Series, hoping to impress and land the organization back in Victory Lane.

Longtime anchor Massey partners BRUNT Workwear and Anderson Power Services will serve as primary partners on the team’s No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado RST throughout the 23-race campaign.

“I couldn’t be more excited to go full-time racing with Tyler and everyone at Young’s Motorsports,” said Massey. “I see the work ethic in all the guys and how much they want it.

“I knew this was definitely something I wanted to be a part of. I also look forward to bringing BRUNT

Workwear and Anderson Power Services on board this year. We’re ready to kick the season off strong in Daytona on Friday night!”

Executives from both of Massey’s anchor partners echoed their driver’s sentiment.

BRUNT Workwear founder and CEO Eric Girouard commented, “We’re excited to be back for our fourth year supporting Mason and expanding our NASCAR program. Our company’s story and Mason’s story are very similar. From humble beginnings and blue-collar roots, we are building and growing together.

“Our group is pumped for the opportunity Mason has to compete full-time in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with Young’s Motorsports. We believe that our brand lines up perfectly with not only Mason but also with Young’s Motorsports’ hard-working values.”

Added, Alex Field, vice president of operations for Anderson Power Services, “Anderson Power Services is super happy and grateful to continue to support and be a part of Mason Massey’s career. We have been a very proud partner since 2019 and look forward to the current racing year. We look forward to the years when we will be in a Cup Series race car and be side by side with Mason for the years to come.”

Massey, 27, will make his second consecutive Truck Series start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway of Daytona on February 16. Last year, Massey steered to a respectable and lead lap 24th place finish for Reaume Brothers Racing in a race that was shortened by inclement weather.

“Even though it was rain-shortened, I think getting a feel for drafting in the trucks was beneficial,” continued Massey. “Youngs Motorsports has a good track record on superspeedways, including two wins. I hope to keep that going and get a strong start to the 2024 season.”

For Young’s Motorsports team principal Tyler Young, the opportunity to welcome Massey brings a reenergized atmosphere to the family-owned organization.

“I’m really excited to have Mason full-time with our team this year,” added Young. “He has proven he’s the man for the job. We are working hard to make it a great year, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Massey is the second full-time driver announced by Young’s Motorsports in 2024. Last month, the organization announced the launch of its NASCAR Xfinity Series program with Rookie of the Year candidate Leland Honeyman Jr. behind the wheel of their No. 42 Chevrolet Camaros, beginning with Saturday afternoon’s United Rentals 300.

Thad Moffitt Ready for Daytona Return

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (FEBRUARY 12, 2024) — Faction46 will make their NASCAR debut this week at the World Center of Racing, the Daytona International Speedway. Behind the wheel, Thad Moffitt will pilot the No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado. Customers Bank will be the primary sponsor of the team in its much-anticipated beginning led by crew chief Doug George.

Faction46 is owned by Lane Moore, owner of Venture Food Stores, and has an alliance with Niece Motorsports. Moffitt said the team has worked hard in what has been a busy offseason putting the team together.

“We just introduced this team in December and now it’s time to go race,” said Moffitt. “It is a little bit crazy to think how far we have come in such a short time. We could not have done it without Doug’s leadership and the support of Niece Motorsports and our alliance. Starting a new team is not easy, but we had a great foundation, and everyone has done their part to build a fast Silverado for Daytona.”

There is no better track for Faction46 to turn its first laps. Moffitt has three starts at the track in the ARCA Series and one previous start in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Moffitt has a best start of second and finish of fifth in the ARCA Series and an 18th-place result in the truck series at Daytona.

“It may sound weird to some, but this really is a track that I’m the most comfortable at,” continued Moffitt. “I grew up here watching my grandfather (“The King” Richard Petty) and my uncle (Kyle Petty) and the rest of my family racing here. It’s just my DNA to be racing at Daytona in February. It feels good to make our debut here and start making our mark in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.”

Moffitt and Faction46 will have plenty of support this week in Florida. With Customers Bank on the hood and sides, the team will also be sponsored by Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen, Pristine Auction, Joe Jurgielewicz and Son – America’s Tastiest Duck, Induction Innovations, and Best Working Wipes.

Moore is thankful for the partners and the team who are ready to compete for the win on Friday evening.

“You only make your debut once and I know that everyone associated with the program is excited,” said owner, Moore. “I want to thank all the hard-working men and women who have worked tirelessly in getting this truck ready to race. We know that Thad will be in the mix on Friday night and make everyone on this team venture proud.”

The new Faction46 team can be found online at www.faction46.com and on social media on Twitter (@TeamFaction46), Instagram (@TeamFaction46), TikTok (@TeamFaction46), and on Facebook and YouTube.

Faction46 and Moffitt can be seen live during the Fresh From Florida 250 at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday and televised live on FS1 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Salisbury, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2024) – Ross Chastain, Johnny Sauter, Kaden Honeycutt and Connor Mosack will split driving duties behind the wheel of the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado for Niece Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for the 2024 season.

The group of drivers will be led by veteran crew chief Phil Gould as the No. 45 team competes for an Owner’s Championship in the Truck Series.

The 2016 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion Sauter will kick off the season in the No. 45 Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway.

“I’m appreciative to everyone at Niece Motorsports for the chance to get back behind the wheel and start the season at Daytona,” said Sauter. “I’m ready to go racing and I know Phil and this Niece Motorsports team are ready to get back on track too. We’re ready to compete for a win in Daytona.”

Chastain will compete at Circuit of the Americas, Darlington Raceway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, Pocono Raceway and Indianapolis Raceway Park.

“I love coming to race in the Truck Series,” said Chastain. “I’m thankful to Al Niece and everyone at Niece Motorsports for allowing me to get behind the wheel of these Chevrolets. We’re going to do our best to go out and win races and compete for an Owner’s Championship. It would mean a lot to me to be able to bring that home to Al Niece.”

Chastain first joined Niece Motorsports at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2018, competing in three races for the team to close out the season. Chastain competed in the Truck Series full time in 2019 for Niece Motorsports, earning the organization’s first victory at Kansas Speedway.

Chastain and the No. 45 team earned two more victories that season, on the way to a second-place finish in both the driver and owner point standings. Chastain has competed in 25 races for Niece Motorsports from 2020 – 2023, earning one win, six top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes.

“Ross means a lot to our organization and we’re appreciative that he continues to come back and race with us,” said Niece Motorsports General Manager Cody Efaw. “We’re also excited about the young talent we’ll have behind the wheel this season with Kaden Honeycutt and Connor Mosack. They’ve shown a lot of talent and we’re hopeful that we can help them polish that with more time behind the wheel.”

He ended the season with one top-five, two top-10s and six top-20 finishes. In addition, Mosack has two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts to his credit at Bristol Motor Speedway and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, both coming in 2022.

“I’m excited to join Niece Motorsports this season,” said Mosack. “This is a strong group and I’m thrilled to be a part of it and learn from everyone here. I’m ready to get behind the wheel in Las Vegas and get the season started.”

Corey LaJoie to Pilot Spire Motorsports Bluegreen Vacations Chevy Silverado at Daytona NCTS Season Opener

Veteran NASCAR Topkick Brian Pattie to Lead All-Star Effort

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 8, 2024) – Corey LaJoie will drive Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 Bluegreen Vacations Chevrolet Silverado in the season-opening Fresh from Florida 250 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) race at Daytona International Speedway.

The effort will be led by veteran crew chief Brian Pattie. Spire Motorsports will field the No. 7 Silverado full time in 2024 with LaJoie headlining an all-star lineup to jump-start the 2024 season. Further details regarding the team’s plans and driver lineup are forthcoming.

The 2024 season marks LaJoie’s fifth year collaborating with Bluegreen Vacations and the vacation company’s first venture into NCTS competition. Bluegreen Vacations made its NASCAR Cup Series debut in April 2023 when LaJoie drove his No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to a 21st-place finish at Richmond Raceway.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Corey LaJoie in 2024, particularly as he opens the 2024 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season in Daytona,” said Dusty Tonkin, executive vice president & chief sales and marketing officer at Bluegreen Vacations. “He’s been a favorite among our owners who have enjoyed getting to know him at the exclusive Bluegreen Bash events hosted at our resorts. We look forward to introducing Corey to even more Bluegreen owners as he helps us in our mission to share happiness.”

“We’ve been working with Bluegreen Vacations now for four years so it’s exciting to continue to grow that partnership,” said LaJoie. “Bluegreen sponsors the Duals on Thursday night, so it’s important we do a good job for them because they have such a big presence during Speedweek at Daytona. Having them on our truck and giving them a chance to root for me—hopefully we can get that Bluegreen Chevrolet Silverado in Victory Lane on Friday night.”

LaJoie opened last season at the controls of the No. 7 Chevy Silverado at the “World Center of Racing” where he started fifth and led a race-high 19 laps. The Concord, North Carolina, native was the class of the field before he was shuffled out of the top spot during the late-race goings. He ultimately finished 23rd when rain forced NASCAR officials to call the race, 21 laps short of the scheduled distance.

“We led the most laps and it rained,” Lajoie added. “I knew the rain was coming – I was trying to play defense – and I just missed covering Zane Smith. That was the difference. I got shuffled out of the lead and it started raining two-three laps later and they called the race. I thought we had a good enough truck to take the win, so I was irritated about that. I’m still irritated about that, so I’m glad I get a chance to do it again this year.”

The Fresh from Florida 250 from Daytona International Speedway will be televised live on FS1 Friday, Feb. 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The first of 23 NCTS races on the 2024 schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

Rajah Caruth Named Driver of Spire Motorsports No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado

HendrickCars.com to Support Effort in 10 NCTS Races in 2024

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (February 7, 2024) – Today, Spire Motorsports announced it will field the No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado in a full-time NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) effort in 2024 and has named rising star Rajah Caruth as the driver.

HENDRICKCARS.COM will be showcased as the team’s primary sponsor for 10 races beginning with the season-opening Fresh from Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway. Veteran crew chief Chad Walter will call the team’s effort from atop the pit box.

“We’ve talked about seminal moments for Spire Motorsports in the past, and I think this is another one of those moments,” said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “Rajah Caruth is an exceptional young man. He’s a very talented driver with a bright future. He’s obviously young in his career but he’s mature beyond his years. You hear people talk about an ‘it’ factor and when you talk to him and get to know him, it’s pretty obvious he has ‘it.’ We’re exceptionally fortunate to be able to bring Rajah into the mix and pair him with Chad Walter. Those guys worked together last season so to be able to keep them together should go a long way in terms of chemistry and being competitive. Outside of that, this is just a good situation for everyone. It’s as simple as that.”

Caruth raced full time in the NCTS in 2023, earning four top-10 finishes and coming home 16th in the division’s season-ending point standings. He is an alumnus of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity Driver Development Program and currently a senior at Winston-Salem (N.C.) State University.

“HendrickCars.com is the digital home for everything our company offers, including vehicles, career opportunities, service locations, and more,” said Gary Davis, executive vice president, Hendrick Automotive Group. “We are thrilled for Rajah to get this opportunity. He’s a bright and talented individual who will represent HENDRICKCARS.COM very well.”

The 21-year-old Washington D.C. native also raced part time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series over the past two seasons and tied his career/series best 12th-place finish last fall at Martinsville Speedway. Caruth, was named the 2021 Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award recipient in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, an award based on a driver’s final Weekly Series national standing and on-track performance, sportsmanship and community service.

“I’m usually a pretty stoic guy, emotionally, but it’s hard not to tear up a little bit thinking about this opportunity,” said Caruth. “There was a lot of uncertainty over the winter in almost every sense of the word. I just feel really blessed to be able to drive for Spire Motorsports and to be able to have Chad (Walter) come with me. I’m flattered to have the support of HENDRICKCARS.COM and, of course Mr. H and the whole Hendrick family. It’s a dream to be here and to have a full season and to have a place where I can grow is pretty special. I’m ready to get back to work and continue what we’ve done over the last few months. Huge thanks to Spire, Chevrolet, General Motors and everyone who supports me and my family for making this happen. I can’t wait for Daytona, Hopefully, I can make everybody proud.”

Walter has over two decades of experience and began his career with Hendrick Motorsports in 1996. The Albion, New York native has also served in engineering and crew chief roles for some the NASCAR’s most distinguished teams including Dale Earnhardt Inc., Penske Racing, Richard Childress Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing. Some of his most notable accomplishments include a pair of Daytona 500 victories (2001 & 2003) with Michael Waltrip, along with Cup Series wins with Steve Park and Terry Labonte.

He comes to Spire Motorsports with Caruth after spending last season in the same role with GMS Racing.

“Personally, that kid, Rajah, has changed my life,” commented Walter. “I don’t know of anyone else who I’d want to work harder for, or have wanted to work harder for, over the last 15 years of my career. He’s so uplifting in so many ways. He works hard and he wants to get better. I’ve worked with some really good drivers in my past, but Rajah really stands out. He goes about things the right way and his passion for this has really made an impact on me. I jumped at the opportunity to work with him again. It’s kind of a crazy business we work in but when I found out that this could come to fruition – that we could do this again together – there was no other option for me.”

The Fresh from Florida 250 from Daytona International Speedway will be televised live on FS1 Friday, February 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The first of 23 NCTS races on the 2024 schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

“There are always emotions going in Daytona,” remarked Boyd. “It’s the first race of the year and it’s the biggest weekend in motorsports. And that’s just the normal part! We’ve got a brand-new team going to the track for the first time with equipment we haven’t put on the track before. I’m thankful we have assembled a great bunch of guys that I can trust in getting the job done. I have so much confidence that we are giving it our best shot because I’ve seen day in and day out the work that Greg (Ely) and team have put in since November to be ready for this moment.”

The main sponsor for the team at this race, Tibbetts Lumber is one of the largest independently-owned lumber and building materials supplier in the Southeast USA to the professional contractor. CEO and Vice Chairman, Russ Hallenbeck, commented on the partnership, “I’m a life-long fan of NASCAR so this is a very special moment for me personally. Professionally, it puts Tibbetts Lumber out there like we have never done before. It is our first ever sponsorship in racing and Spencer couldn’t be a better representative for our brand. The yeoman’s type work he does is exactly what our customers do so the synergy is perfect.”

Kyle Hooker, Executive Chairman of Tibbetts Lumber, said “Spencer and Freedom Racing stand for everything Tibbetts Lumber stands for and we are honored to be a part of such a historic team and race!”

Headquartered in the Tampa Bay area since 1949 with 11 locations throughout Florida, Tibbetts designs and manufactures wood roof and floor trusses, lumber and building materials, custom interior and exterior doors, millwork, siding, windows, offers and offers installation services.

The new team brings back the familiar number 76 for Boyd and a bright orange paint scheme that won’t be missed on the high banks of Daytona.

Boyd continued about the relationship with Tibbetts, “This partnership is a long time in the making…almost a year. I’m elated they chose me to drive their truck and know it means a lot to the family and the employees of the company. Kyle and Russ invited me to the Tibbetts Lumber Christmas party and was humbled by the hard work everyone there does to make their company successful. I’m honored to be in the same circle as these great business-people.”

The Freedom Racing Enterprises debut with first-time sponsor Tibbetts Lumber will be on February 16, 2024 at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race, the Fresh From Florida 250, at Daytona International Speedway.
