    Stage 1: 18th
    Stage 2: 21st
    Finish: 16th
    Driver Points: 18th
    Owner Points: 23rd

    • Key Takeaway: Bayley Currey and the No. 41 team nearly secured a top-15 finish after a long night at Martinsville Speedway. Currey qualified 25th, but the DQS Solutions & Staffing team continued to make adjustments which helped the handling on his truck. They climbed to 18th in stage one, dropped to 21st in stage two, but ultimately came out on top for Niece Motorsports with a 16th-place finish.
    • Bayley Currey’s Post-Race Thoughts: “I’m really proud of the effort from everyone at Niece Motorsports on our No. 41 team. We struggled early, but we stuck with it. We got our DQS / Masked Owl Technologies / AutoVentive / Precision Chevy pretty good, I think. We were way better than we were in the beginning and to finish where we did, I’m pretty happy. Obviously, it’s not great – just one spot out of the top-15, but these guys stuck with it all race and kept digging and kept fighting. We ended up making a decent night out of it, but we’ll go onto Phoenix and try to get it a little bit better next week.”
DQS Solutions & Staffing Mission Statement: The core mission of DQS Solutions & Staffing is to attain unparalleled excellence in our specialized domains, specifically staffing and security. Simultaneously, we maintain the flexibility required to collaborate closely with our clients in the creation of innovative products and services within the framework of DQS.

    Stage 1: 22nd
    Stage 2: 24th
    Finish: 19th
    Driver Points: 23rd
    Owner Points: 26th

    • Key Takeaway: Matt Mills and the No. 42 team checked off an important box by running all of the laps and finishing all 200 laps at Martinsville Speedway. Mills, who started the week off in the hospital, went back to work and had no issues behind the wheel. After qualifying 21st, Mills finished 22nd and 24th in both stages, and was able to take advantage of the free pass to drive into a top-20 result. The J.F. Electric / Utilitra team was credited with a 19th-place run.
    • Matt Mills’ Post-Race Thoughts: “It was good to be back out there, feel normal again, and do my job driving a race truck. It wasn’t the best night as far as us lacking a little bit of speed. We didn’t really carry that long run speed that we had in practice that we thought we had, but overall, we brought home a clean race truck. I’m very fortunate for everyone at Niece Motorsports for all of the hard work that they put into me and the race truck this weekend. We’ll continue to try and find a little bit of momentum to head into Phoenix, but we’ll take today. Thanks to J.F. Electric and Utilitra for everything they do for us.”

    Start: 22nd
    Stage 1: 34th
    Stage 2: 34th
    Finish: 27th
    Driver Points: 63rd
    Owner Points: 34th

    • Key Takeaway: Matt Gould, in just his second-career NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start, showed signs of legitimate pace at Martinsville Speedway. The No. 44 Niece Equipment team was in position to have a solid night, however, a faulty kill switch issue dropped them multiple laps behind the leaders. From a 22nd-place start to a 27th-place race finish, Gould improved on his personal-best in both categories but was left with more to desire.
    • Matt Gould’s Post-Race Thoughts: “Well, we obviously had a good truck today. We were really fast in practice, just a little too free in qualifying. That put us in a small hole to start the race off, but I knew we had speed in our No. 44 Chevy tonight. We were the 10th-fastest truck on the track up until the kill switch button broke and engaged which caused the engine to shut off. We got it to work again, but went a lot of laps down. Still had a lot of speed, but we were offset on older tires. But we definitely had a fast Niece Equipment Chevrolet, so hopefully I get another chance. Thank you to Al (Niece), Cody (Efaw), and all the guys at the shop for believing in me to get this opportunity tonight.”

    Start: 9th
    Stage 1: 7th
    Stage 2: 9th
    Finish: 33rd
    Driver Points: 20th
    Owner Points: 10th

    • Key Takeaway: Kaden Honeycutt and the No. 45 team had their promising night cut short due to a tire failure at Martinsville Speedway. Honeycutt qualified ninth and secured two top-10 stage finishes (seventh and ninth, respectively). However, during the closing laps of the race, the right front tire’s bead melted resulting in a hard crash in turn one. The Moore’s Venture Foods team finished 33rd in the penultimate race of the season.
    • Kaden Honeycutt’s Post-Race Thoughts: “Just an unfortunate way to end a good night for us. We had decent speed all night, but just couldn’t do anything to prevent the right front tire from going down. I wish I could have caught it sooner, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I’m thankful to all of these No. 45 guys for bringing me a fast truck tonight and to Moore’s Venture Foods for their support. We have one more race to end the year with another good run and that is everyone’s goal for next week at Phoenix.”
About Moore’s Venture Foods: Moore’s Venture Foods is a family-owned grocery store chain located in Oklahoma. HEIM ADVANCES TO SECOND STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP 4
Taylor Gray battles for victory late before contact with race winner

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (November 1, 2024) – Corey Heim advanced to the NASCAR Truck Series Championship 4 for the second straight season on the strength of a top-10 finish at Martinsville Speedway on Friday night. The Toyota Development Driver leads the series overall with six victories and clinched his spot at the checkered flag with a seventh-place finish.

Fellow Toyota Playoff driver Taylor Gray was battling for the win in the final 10 laps after a great pit strategy call. He had taken the lead before eventual race winner Christian Eckes moved Gray’s Tundra. Gray finished fourth to lead Toyota in the evening’s race. With the finish, Gray finished the round of 8 in fifth position – one spot out of advancing to the Championship 4.

    TOYOTA QUOTES

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 17 JBL Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 4th

    What happened?

“Raced 19 (Christian Eckes) clean into (turns) one and two on the restart and times before that. I was on tires. I barely even touched him. Drove underneath him, and the caution came out. So clean for Martinsville, especially for the tire advantage. I could have drove into (turn) one and shipped him completely out of the way and not be worried about it. I raced him clean. I didn’t want to be that guy at Martinsville. We go on the restart, and raced him clean through (turns) one and two. Clear him off of (turn) two, and he goes into (turn) three and completely ships me to the fence. Now granted, it is Martinsville, I was expecting to get moved – I wasn’t expecting to get moved to the fence. Especially, with how I raced him, and he is locked into the final four, so I don’t know. The only thing he did was put a target on his back, and unfortunately, and this day and age I can’t go to Phoenix and do anything about to him, because I’m going to go get a $20,000 fine, so he gets away with that crap and doesn’t get any repercussion.”

Is there anything more you could have done besides running him into the fence?

“I don’t know. The 19 (Christian Eckes) was the class of the field, right? But it is not my fault we had better strategy than he did. We came out on tires, we drove through the field and we drove to him. I raced him clean, and he drove me in the fence. I guess the only thing I could have done is wreck him like he wrecked me.”

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 7th

    What more did you need?

“Really thankful for everyone at Safelite, TRICON Garage and Toyota Racing. Our regular season bonus points really propelled us to an easy, kind of under the radar day here at Martinsville. We had such a great regular season, and that led us to kind of have a relaxing last round here. It is still so stressful at times with the possibilty of a new winner and the headache of math that goes on there. Just didn’t quite have the speed. Rode around in the top-10 most of the day, but winning here last year, kind of had our expectations high to come back and do the same thing, and fell short of that day today, but the ultimate goal is to win a championship next week and that is what we are going to try and go do.”

TY MAJESKI QUALIFIES FOR CHAMPIONSHIP 4

    • Ty Majeski qualified for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship 4 after his 11th place finish Friday night at Martinsville Speedway.
    • This will mark Majeski’s second career series appearance in the Championship 4
    • Ford will be going for its third straight series championship next week at Phoenix after Zane Smith and Ben Rhodes won in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

    FORD FINISHING UNOFFICIAL RESULTS

    2nd – Ben Rhodes
    6th – Layne Riggs
    11th – Ty Majeski
    13th – Matt Crafton
    20th – Jake Garcia
    23rd – Lawless Alan
    24th – Clayton Green
    28th – Johnny Sauter

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Road Ranger Ford F-150 – HOW DOES IT FEEL GOING TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP 4? “It feels good. It was drama-filled, for sure. Pretty much all of the scenarios were working out exactly how we didn’t need them to at the end of the race, but Ben did a great job racing those guys hard. Christian, too, obviously wanted to win the race really bad, so we needed him to win that.”

TAKE US THROUGH THE CLOSING LAPS. HOW INTENSE WAS IT? “I’m just excited to be in the Championship 4. Everyone knew I didn’t need a yellow at the end. They were racing me really hard and I just kind of had to yield. I didn’t need a yellow. The 19 was leading, so some days you just have to accept being the ball and not the pin and today was one of those days.”

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR CHANCES AT PHOENIX? “I feel good. I’ve been good there the last couple of years and I’m excited to have a shot.”

HOW HARD WAS IT TO LET YOUR TEAMMATE GO UP THERE AND RACE WHILE YOU OBVIOUSLY WANT TO BE THERE YOURSELF? “I knew I had no shot at really even playing defense. It would have taken a really dirty move for me to play defense and that’s just not how I race, so that was my best play at the time and it worked out.”

BEN RHODES, No. 99 Kubota Ford F-150 – YOU WERE RIGHT THERE. IT WAS YOUR RACE TO WIN. “Yeah, it was definitely our race to win. Unfortunately, it was our race to lose, too. We were leading the laps. I drove in five truck lengths deeper than I had all night and thought, ‘Man, if he gets me, there was no way he was gonna make the corner,’ and, sure enough, he got to the bumper. We made it all the way up to the asphalt and I’m on the outside. We raced him again for another corner and we get him back, and then finally he just runs us straight up to the asphalt and once we’re in the asphalt it allowed the 77 – we lost so much time there. That lap would have been two seconds slower. He wasn’t worried about winning the race at that point, it was just more or less not losing to me, and then that allowed the 77 to almost pass us both, so then I was racing side-by-side with the 77 all the way to the checkered flag. He lucked out on that one, really. If he held us up just a little bit more with that dirty move, then he would have lost the race, too. It was one of those deals where if he couldn’t win it, I couldn’t either. That’s kind of the way that was approached.”

YOUR STRATEGY OF PITTING FOR TIRES WORKED AT THE END. “Yeah. The race played out. We were going all night for the win and I guess that’s the beauty of not being in the playoffs – you can go for wins, which set us up for a night like tonight – a chance for the win and almost having it. If we were in the playoffs, we would have played it completely different. We’d have been working on points and hopefully you would get a top 10, but there’s a lot of playoff guys that weren’t running too well there at the end with the new tires versus the old. It’s bittersweet to be here at Martinsville and not run for the championship, but, all in all, I’m glad we’re able to go into Phoenix with some momentum.”

HOW DID YOU VIEW YOUR ROLE AS A TEAMMATE KNOWING IF THE 2 OR 17 WON, TY WOULD GET KNOCKED OUT? “That was very important. We were talking on the radio before the end and it’s like, I don’t know what the points were. They quit showing them on the big screen. I don’t know if they did that on purpose or not, but I know before stage one or two it was like 46 to the good for him, and then I just knew how it was gonna work out if those guys won – he’d be out – so I knew I had to win. It was more or less, ‘You know what? See you later, Ty. You’ve got to take care of yourself. I’ve got to go win this race. You’ll win and I’ll win a race and it’s a win-win for both of us.’ It played out OK. I just wish we were able to bring home the grandfather clock.”

The Xfinity Series rookie driver will look to improve his overall short track average Xfinity finish of 24.2.

Leland Honeyman Jr. NASCAR Xfinity Career Stats: Entering Martinsville, Honeyman has 39 career NASCAR Xfinity Series races to his credit, earning a career-best fourth-place finish at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway after starting 33rd in the Ag-Pro 300 for Young’s Motorsports in April 2024.

Since 2023, he has carried an average finish of 23.4.

Homestead-Miami Speedway | Credit One NASCAR Amex Credit Card 300 Race Recap: In the 31st race of the 2024 Xfinity Series season, Young’s Motorsports and Honeyman searched for another solid finish in the team’s Xfinity Series solo trip to Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Once again showcasing speed in practice, Honeyman immediately moved forward from his 26th-place qualifying and contended for a top-20 finish until mechanical gremlins haunted the team and took them out of contention for a satisfying finish.

A relentless effort from the team, however, allowed Honeyman to remain on the track, persevere, and take the checkered flag in 30th position for the final intermediate race of the season.

Calling the Shots: Guiding Honeyman Jr. as crew chief of the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro is longtime crew chief Andrew Abbott.

On Saturday, he will be crew chief in his 129th NASCAR Xfinity Series race. In his previous 128 races, he has four top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.

The season’s 32nd race will be his fifth tango at Martinsville Speedway as crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series at Martinsville Speedway: This weekend will mark Young’s Motorsports’ second NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Martinsville Speedway.

In April, the team started 25th but finished 31st with rookie Leland Honeyman Jr. at the wheel.

While the family-owned team has limited NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at Martinsville, the team since 2012, the Young’s Motorsports team has had an average starting position of 21.9 and an average finish of 21.9 in 32 Martinsville Speedway Truck Series starts overall.

On March 26, 2018, the organization posted a Truck Series-team best finish of ninth at the track in the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 with Xfinity Series championship contender Austin Hill behind the wheel.

Young’s Motorsports’ NASCAR Xfinity Series History: Since entering the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, the family-owned organization has logged 31 starts and maintains an average starting position of 27.4 and an average finish of 22.8.

    Leland Honeyman Jr. Pre-Race Quote:

On Martinsville Speedway: “We’re heading to Martinsville looking to get this monkey off our back. We’ve had incredible speed with our No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaros for the last two weeks. Unfortunately, we’ve been plagued by some bad luck and don’t have much to show for our performance.

“Martinsville is a good place to rebound with our No. 42 Quix Rx Chevrolet Camaro and get some momentum on our side heading to Phoenix for the season finale.”

    DRIVER LAYNE RIGGS:

“I love Martinsville, and any short-track really. We had a really good qualifying run there in the Spring, but we didn’t quite execute to get the finish we wanted. I think we have a good shot at it this weekend, though. The team has been on it from an execution standpoint, I just have to go out there and do what I do best to put us in contention.

“It’s great to see Infinity Communications back on our Ford F-150. They have been on the frontlines during these hurricanes, and I couldn’t be more proud of them for all they do. Hopefully I can pay them back with a trip to Victory Lane.”

Salisbury, NC (Oct. 30, 2024) – Niece Motorsports has entered a partnership with PopSells.com which sees Stefan Parsons behind the wheel of the team’s No. 44 entry at Phoenix Raceway.

    @BayleyCurrey05

    • Currey’s Martinsville Stats: Bayley Currey has made two NCTS starts at Martinsville Speedway; once in his series debut race back in 2017 and most recently in the spring of this year. Currey secured his best NCTS finish at the track in April with a 17th-place showing. Currey made five NASCAR Xfinity Series starts as well, posting another 17th-place as his best run in spring, 2022.
    • Niece Motorsports’ Martinsville Stats: Niece Motorsports have made a combined 27 NCTS starts at Martinsville Speedway since 2017. The organization has accounted for two top-fives and four top-10 finishes, with Ross Chastain posting the team’s best result (second) in 2019.
    • Rogers’ Martinsville Stats: Wally Rogers has called 11 NCTS races at Martinsville, with highlights including one top-five and four top-10 finishes. Rogers’ best truck run at this track came in 2005 while working with Ron Hornaday who finished third. He has also been on top of the box for one Xfinity Series race and nine Cup Series races held at ‘The Paperclip’.
    • Birthday Race: Happy birthday, Bayley! Currey celebrated his 28th birthday on Tuesday, October 29th. Instead of gifts, he is asking for everyone to vote him as this year’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Most Popular Driver: https://www.nascar.com/truckmostpopulardriver/.
    • On the Truck: Currey’s No. 41 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Masked Owl Technologies and DQS Solutions & Staffing.
    • Recapping Homestead-Miami: Bayley Currey and the No. 41 Masked Owl team were struck with damage after an incident with another competitor in stage one at Homestead-Miami Speedway. After starting 11th, Currey dropped to 26th in the first stage and 33rd in the second stage. The team lost several laps with repairs being made, resulting in a 31st-place finish.
    • Points Rundown: Currey continues to sit 19th in the championship points standings even after his disappointing run in Homestead-Miami. Entering Martinsville, the driver of the No. 41 is on the heels of 18th-place’s Bret Holmes, who is only ahead by five points. Kaden Honeycutt is behind Currey in 20th, 12 points behind him.
    • Quoting Currey: What would you rate a Martinsville hot dog on a scale from one to 10?

“I mean, I really don’t think I know if there’s one that’s better. Wienerschnitzel is pretty high, but I’m going to say seven, maybe eight. All the way too. It’s not a Martinsville dog if you don’t get it ‘STP style’ or whatever it is. The most I’ve ever had in a weekend is 13, but I can’t do that anymore.”

    • Quoting Rogers: Thoughts on competing at Martinsville Speedway:

“Martinsville is a great track and has many challenges. Track position, turning the middle of the corner, and maintaining drive off are just a couple of them. Chances are, you will pit only one time so your truck needs to be driving good. There can be a lot of bumping and banging throughout the race so keeping the fenders on will be important. If we execute properly on all these things we will have a good finish.”

    Matt Mills Racing
    @MattMillsRacing
    @MattMillsRacing

    • Mills Approved for Martinsville: Following a scary incident in last week’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Matt Mills was transported to the Jackson South Medical Center where he stayed two nights for further evaluation after suffering smoke inhalation. A group of doctors from both the NASCAR medical team and the hospital released Mills on Monday and later approved him to compete in Friday’s race at Martinsville Speedway.
    • Mills’ Martinsville Stats: Back in April, Matt Mills made his first-career NCTS start at Martinsville Speedway. After getting involved in a late-race crash, Mills was forced to settle with a 29th-place finish. Mills has made a total of six NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the 0.526-mile short track, posting a best finish of 18th in the spring of 2022.
    • Shiplett’s Martinsville Stats: Mike Shiplett called his first Truck Series race at Martinsville in the spring, where he finished 24th with Bret Holmes. Shiplett has made 12 Cup Series starts here, posting a best run of 12th in the fall of 2010 with AJ Allmendinger. Last year, he nearly won his first Xfinity Series race at the half-mile short track with Austin Hill before getting involved in a last lap crash.
    • On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra.
    • Recapping Homestead-Miami: Matt Mills and the No. 42 Utilitra / J.F. Electric team’s race was cut short following a hard crash on lap 74 at Homestead-Miami. The team had to start at the rear of the field with a transmission change, but Mills climbed to 18th in stage one and 15th in stage two. While battling with another competitor for position, contact sent Mills careening into the outside wall, resulting in a 34th-place finish.
    • Points Rundown: Mills remains 23rd in the NCTS driver points standings following his 34th-place finish at Homestead-Miami. Directly ahead of Mills in 22nd is Timmy Hill, who currently has a 20-point gap above him. Behind sits Lawless Alan in 24th, who has a 13-point deficit.
    • Quoting Mills: Were you able to take any positives away from the spring Martinsville race to bring it into this weekend?

“Yeah, we were pretty good in Martinsville, just kind of kept getting buried on track position and our strategies didn’t play out that well. Overall, we had a fast truck and that day should have been a lot better than what it was. I’m going there with some redemption hope.”

    • Quoting Shiplett: What is the key to staying up front at Martinsville?

“The biggest thing with Martinsville is understanding your braking points and how far you can drive into the corners on new tires versus old tires. The way the truck race plays out, you should only pit one time and then you have to stay out, manage your tires, and play defense. It’s not really about rolling the center of the corner as it is with your drive off, so you have to try and keep your track position all race long. Nobody is going to pass in the middle, and it’s very seldom that the outside lane gets going. Just being able to hold your position and get good drive off is the key to success here.”

    • Gould Returns: Matt Gould, son of Niece Motorsports’ No. 45 Crew Chief, Phil Gould, returns to the seat of the No. 44 Niece Equipment Chevrolet to make his second-career NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start at Martinsville Speedway. Gould made his series debut at the Milwaukee Mile back in August, and is a regular late model stock competitor in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series at Hickory Motor Speedway.
    • Gould’s Martinsville Stats: Matt Gould will make his first-career start in any series at Martinsville Speedway during Friday night’s Zip Buy Now Pay Later 200.
    • Leonard’s Martinsville Stats: Jon Leonard has called three NCTS races at Martinsville before, showing a 13th-place run with Stewart Friesen as his best result in 2022. Leonard also called two Cup Series races here, finishing as high as 19th with Michael McDowell in 2017.
    • STEM Appearance: Last Wednesday, Niece Motorsports drivers Matt Gould, Bayley Currey, and Matt Mills spent the day at Martinsville Speedway teaching a group of students from the local Patrick Henry Elementary School the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) within the NASCAR industry. The drivers helped students build rubber band cars, hosted a Q&A, and partook in local media interviews ahead of the race weekend.
    • On the Truck: Gould’s No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Niece Equipment. Located in Buda, Texas, Niece Equipment specializes in building water and fuel/lube trucks for commercial use on construction projects.
    • Owner Points Outlook: Following Conor Daly’s 28th-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the part-time No. 44 Niece Motorsports team continues to be shown 34th in the owner points standings.
    • Quoting Matt Gould: Now that you have a truck race under your belt, do you think this weekend should be a little bit easier as far as getting used to everything?

“For sure. I think I am going into Martinsville with a whole lot more confidence than what I felt heading into Milwaukee since there was a lot of unknowns. Now, I feel like I can unload off of the trailer and pick it up in practice to be better in the race. I can’t thank Al (Niece), Cody (Efaw), and everyone at Niece Equipment and Chevrolet enough for this second chance at racing their truck.”

    • Quoting Leonard: Do you think Matt’s late model experience is going to help him at all in the truck, or is this something completely different?

“Yeah, absolutely. I know the No. 44 team had some problems at Milwaukee, but I think the second half of the race, he began to adapt pretty well. I think with his background at Hickory, running a truck on the short tracks will correlate. We spent some time in the simulator and I thought he did really well. It’s a rhythm racetrack, so I think once he gets in a groove with some practice under his belt, he’ll be just fine.”

    • Quoting Phil Gould: How much of a benefit for Matt was running the Milwaukee race and do you think that should help his learning curve?

“Yeah, definitely. I think Martinsville is the closest he’ll be to what he’s been used to running in the late models. Milwaukee was definitely a lot faster, more technical than Martinsville, but I think having another race under his belt in a truck will give him some more confidence this weekend.”

    • Honeycutt’s Martinsville Stats: Kaden Honeycutt has made three previous NCTS starts at Martinsville Speedway. In this year’s spring race, Honeycutt secured his first top-10 finish at ‘The Paperclip’ with a ninth-place result. Honeycutt made both his Truck Series and Xfinity Series debuts here in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
    • Gould’s Martinsville Stats: Phil Gould has called seven Truck Series races at Martinsville, earning two top-fives and three top-10 finishes. In the fall race of 2019, Gould’s team finished runner-up with Ross Chastain.
    • On the Truck: Honeycutt’s No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from Moore’s Venture Foods, a family-owned grocery store chain located in Oklahoma. 2024 marks the company’s 50th anniversary of the first store opening, and has been operated by the Moore family for three generations.
    • Recapping Homestead-Miami: Kaden Honeycutt and the No. 45 team had a promising showing at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Qualifying sixth, Honeycutt made quick work in stage one to finish runner-up on the bumper of the leader. In stage two, Honeycutt followed up the performance with a fifth-place effort. During the final green flag pit cycle, the No. 45 lost some positions and was ultimately dropped to a 14th-place result.
    • Owner Points Outlook: Entering the penultimate race of the year at Martinsville, the No. 45 team remains seeded ninth overall in the owner points standings. Following closely in 10th is Spire Motorsports’ No. 7 team, which is currently three points behind the No. 45.
    • Quoting Honeycutt: You got a good finish in the spring race, but do you think the track will have changed much this time?

“I think the track will be the same as what we raced in the spring. We are bringing something different this time to see if we can improve to a winning truck. We were top-five last time we were there, but we want to go win and I think we have improved since then. I think it will be about track position like it always is starting with qualifying good enough to put yourself in the position at the end of it. It’s going to be crazy with all the playoff drivers trying to win and get into the Championship 4. We are going to do what we need to do to win.”

Ford Performance NASCAR – 2024 Martinsville Playoff Advance

    MARTINSVILLE 2

    Friday, November 1 — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 6 p.m. ET (FS1)
Saturday, November 2 — NASCAR Xfinity Series, 4 p.m. ET (CW)
Sunday, November 3 — NASCAR Cup Series, 2 p.m. ET (NBC)

NASCAR will set the Championship 4 in all three national series this weekend when Martinsville Speedway hosts its second event of the 2024 season. This will mark the fifth straight season that the half-mile paperclip serves as the penultimate race and begins with Friday night’s Craftsman Truck Series event. The Xfinity and Cup finalists will be decided on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

LOGANO GEARING UP FOR CHAMPIONSHIP 4

Joey Logano has already locked up his spot in the Championship 4 after winning at Las Vegas two weeks ago. This will mark his sixth time in the Championship 4 with all of those appearances coming in even years (2014, ‘16, ‘18, ‘20, ‘22 and ‘24). The two-time Cup Series champion will look to become the 10th driver to win at least three titles and join the likes of three-time winners Tony Stewart, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, David Pearson and Lee Petty; four-time champion Jeff Gordon; and seven-time titleholders Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty.

BLANEY CONTINUES ROUND OF 8 BATTLE

After last weekend’s near miss, Ryan Blaney comes into Sunday’s race at Martinsville Speedway in seventh-place in the playoff standings, 38 points below the cut line. And while his deficit may seem large, he’s likely one of the favorite to win this weekend and repeat his victory from a year ago. That’s because Martinsville has undoubtedly been one of Blaney’s best tracks. This will mark his 18th career start at the track and thanks to his nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes, his average finish is a sparkling 8.8, which is his best among tracks where he has at least 10 starts.

    LOGANO LIKES MARTINSVILLE

No track on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit has been better for Joey Logano when it comes to qualifying than Martinsville Speedway. Logano enters this weekend with an average starting position of 8.3, which is his second among all tracks in which he has more than 10 starts (Las Vegas is 7.9 in 23 starts). In 31 career races at the half-mile short track, Logano has one win, 11 top-5 and 19 top-10 finishes, giving him an average finishing position of 10.8. The figure ranks as his third-best track (10 or more races) with only Las Vegas (9.5) and Richmond (10.0) being better.

RYAN BLANEY: “Martinsville is a track I love. I’ve loved it ever since I was a kid. I grew up a little bit south of there and went there a lot as a child and watched my dad race and watched a lot of these great racers run around that place and I’ve always wanted to win there and get a grandfather clock and we were able to put it all together last year. That race, to me, is kind of like Vegas. I feel like we’ve had a couple slip away from us. I feel like we should have two or three grandfather clocks, but sometimes things just don’t work out for you, so it was nice to go into that race last year – even though we were sitting fairly good on points we didn’t care about that, we just wanted to go win the race. Being able to put together kind of the dominating day that we did, especially the last two-thirds of that race was a huge statement and it put us in a really great head space going into Phoenix and we were able to perform there. I love that place to my core. A lot of special reasons behind it off track and on track, so hopefully we can get another grandfather clock. That would be pretty special.”

JOEY LOGANO: “Martinsville is probably the perfect place for being an elimination race. I know NASCAR thinks about this stuff when they put the schedule together and they look at Martinsivlle and think, ‘Everyone is gonna be really close to each other. There’s gonna be full contact. A lot of things can happen.’ You look at all the cutoff races that we have. Bristol, cars are all over each other. The Roval, the tightest road course we go to and the cars are all over each other. Martinsville it’s the same thing, so you’ve got to expect drama when you go there. Some people will be in do-or-die scenarios and what are they willing to do?”

    BLANEY GOING FOR MARTINSVILLE REPEAT

Ryan Blaney would like nothing better than a repeat of a year ago when he won the Martinsville playoff race and clinched a spot in the Championship 4. Blaney, who passed Aric Almirola with 22 laps to go, came into the race with a 10-point cushion and promptly extended that by finished second in Stage 1 and winning Stage 2. In all, Blaney led four times for 145 laps in winning for the third time, which matched his career-best for a single season.

    CUSTER ON THE BUBBLE AGAIN

For the second straight year, Cole Custer finds himself on the bubble heading into the final race in the Round of 8 at Martinsville Speedway. This time, he’s sitting fourth in the standings, 28 points ahead of fifth-place Chandler Smith and only seven behind third-place Justin Allgaier. A year ago, Custer was third overall, but was only three points above the cut line. He eventually went on to advance to the Championship 4 and win his first title one week later at Phoenix Raceway. This will be his fourth career series start at Martinsville, where he finished eighth earlier this year. He also made six NASCAR Cup Series starts, but never finished better than 13th.

Hettinger Racing Purchases Bret Holmes Racing

Team Owner Chris Hettinger To Field No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado for Driver Brett Moffitt in Final Two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Races of 2024

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2024) – Chris Hettinger, a longtime and winning Late Model team owner from Dryden, Michigan, has purchased the assets of Bret Holmes Racing. The organization will complete the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule with 2018 Truck Series champion Brett Moffitt under its new name, Hettinger Racing.

Hettinger is a second-generation racer whose father, Jim, raced open-wheel Midgets and Sprint Cars and won two championships in 1984 and 1990, accolades that earned him a spot in the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Chris began his racing career behind the wheel, winning in Midgets and Late Models before becoming a fulltime team owner.

Bret Holmes Racing (BHR) is an accomplished NASCAR team that has competed in the ARCA Menards Series and the Truck Series. The organization won the 2020 ARCA championship with Holmes serving as both driver and owner. BHR has entered 20 Truck Series races this year, but took a brief hiatus following its ninth-place finish with Holmes on Oct. 4 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The downtime allowed Hettinger to complete his purchase of BHR in time for the final two Truck Series races of the season – this Friday at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Nov. 8 at Phoenix Raceway. Moffitt will drive the No. 4 Victory Custom Trailers Chevrolet Silverado in both events.

“Between the investments I’ve made over the years in our Late Model program and the opportunity to purchase Bret Holmes Racing, the time was right to grow Hettinger Racing into a team that can further drivers’ development by seamlessly transitioning them from Late Models to ARCA to Trucks,” Hettinger said. “We’ll continue our Late Model program by running the zMAX CARS Tour, and we’ll run select ARCA and Truck Series races that fit best with our overall schedule.

“Brett Moffitt gives us a great opportunity to get a head start on 2025. He’s proven himself in the Truck Series and his feedback from this week’s race at Martinsville and next week’s race at Phoenix will be invaluable.

“We’ve had a lot to do in a short period of time to get ready for these last two Truck Series races, and we’re confident the effort we’re putting in now will pay dividends next year.”

Moffitt is a skilled racer who has competed across all three of NASCAR’s top series – Cup, Xfinity and Truck. On his way to the 2018 Truck Series title, the Grimes, Iowa, native won a series-high six races, including the final two to secure the championship. In total, Moffitt has 13 Truck Series victories.

“I said earlier this year that when it came to racing, I wanted quality over quantity, and the equipment Chris Hettinger already had was second to none. With his purchase of Bret Holmes Racing, Chris’ operation is scaled up and ready to tackle the Truck Series,” said Moffitt, who also owns 10 wins in the ARCA Menards Series East. “I feel like the potential is there, and I’m really looking forward to driving their Chevy and getting Hettinger Racing prepared for next year.”

Hettinger Racing will make its Truck Series debut when practice begins at 1:35 p.m. EDT on Friday at Martinsville with qualifying immediately following. The 200-lap race around the .526-mile oval goes green at 6 p.m. with live coverage on FS1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. It will be Moffitt’s 96th career Truck Series start, but just his third this season. Moffitt has made six Truck Series starts at Martinsville with three top-three finishes. His best result is second, earned in October 2018 on his way to the championship.
