This will be the Final Season for Multi-Time Championship Winning Team GMS Racing

STATESVILLE, NC (August 23rd, 2023) – This morning, GMS Racing officials announced it will cease operations at the conclusion of the 2023 race season. GMS Fabrication, a separate entity which has operated alongside the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) race team, will also close its doors following the championship race at Phoenix Raceway.

”During the past nine years, GMS Racing has become one of the top teams in the Truck and ARCA Series garage. The people that made this happen have been the hard-working men and women at GMS Racing and GMS Fabrication. Every employee, new and old at GMS has always strived to be the very best,” said Maury Gallagher. “Without their effort and dedication, we would have never been able to win two Truck championships, three ARCA championships and 68 wins. Leadership is always critical in any success story. Since 2015, Mike Beam has been the catalyst of this race team’s success. Chevrolet and GM has also been critical to our success. With the combination of Chevrolet plus Mike at the helm, we became the team I always dreamed of owning. I can’t thank Mike enough for all his leadership and hard work. We are looking to finish out this year on a high note and close our legacy in this era with another Truck Series championship.”

GMS Racing, or as it was formerly known as Gallagher Motorsports, was founded by entrepreneur and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company, Maury Gallagher, in 2012. Initially competing in the ARCA Menards Series with Gallagher’s son, Spencer Gallagher, as the team’s primary driver, the team fielded the No. 23 as a tribute to Spencer Clark, a young driver from Las Vegas who tragically passed away at the beginning of his career in 2006. In 2013, the team grew to include part-time operations of a NCTS race team, in which Gallagher would compete in three races.

In 2014, the then-renamed GMS Racing began full-time in the Truck Series, partnering with Joey Coulter. The team also expanded its ARCA program, fielding two cars for Spencer and Grant Enfinger. Enfinger won the first race at Berlin Raceway for Gallagher as Team Owner. Spencer finished the year by winning the season finale at Kansas Speedway. Enfinger would finish runner up in the points in his first full-time season competing in ARCA.

2015 would be a banner year for the race team, as Gallagher joined forces with one of the most respected names in motorsports, Mike Beam. Mike joined as Team President, a position he still holds today. He oversaw the race team and GMS Fabrication’s efforts. The year started off with a bang, as Ty Dillon won the team’s first pole award in the Truck Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway. The team’s first truck win was soon in hand as Austin Dillion won at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, solidifying their spot as a race-winning organization on a national level. Enfinger was on a tear in the ARCA Menards Series, winning a total of three poles and a division-high six races en route to winning the series championship, a remarkable feat for Beam and the crew members associated with GMS.

Coming off the ARCA Menards Series championship, GMS Racing wanted more. In addition to the ARCA Series, GMS upped its game in its Truck efforts in 2016, fielding two full-time entries for Gallagher and Johnny Sauter, along with two part-time trucks split between several drivers. Race wins were plentiful that year, as Kyle Larson, Ben Kennedy, and Grant Enfinger would each score Truck Series victories. Sauter won three races of his own and captured the series championship, checking off a monumental accomplishment for the still relatively new race team. This would make it two championship seasons in a row for Beam and Gallagher, further emphasizing that this team was on the pathway to building a legacy.

The 2017 season saw the team go full-time Xfinity Series racing with Spencer, in addition to a part-time second car. The Truck Series operations expanded yet again, this time making it three full-time entries with Sauter, Kaz Grala, and Justin Haley, along with a fourth truck that ran three times. Six wins would be earned by the team; one each by Grala and Chase Elliott, and four by Sauter, who fell one spot short of defending his title, finishing second overall.

In 2018, Spencer Gallagher would earn both his and GMS Racing’s first Xfinity Series win at Talladega Superspeedway. Later that year he announced he was stepping away from driving to take on a managerial role within the team. It would be one of the organization’s most formidable years in the Truck Series, fielding four full-time trucks that combined to win 10 races. Six of those races were won by Sauter, three by Haley, and one by Timothy Peters. Sauter advanced to the Championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, ultimately finishing fourth in points.

The following season in 2019 saw John Hunter Nemechek take over the reins of the GMS Xfinity Series car, finishing seventh in the points standings. The Truck Series operations would shrink to two full-time trucks driven by Sheldon Creed and Brett Moffitt, who won four races, along with an additional part-time truck. GMS started an ARCA East entry driven by Sam Mayer, who won four races on his way to the series championship in his rookie season. At the conclusion of 2019, the decision was made to exit the Xfinity Series and focus more on driver development in Trucks and ARCA.

Arguably the most successful season throughout the team’s history was 2020. Its drivers combined to win 19 races across three series. The Truck Series fielded five full-time teams with drivers Creed, Moffitt, Zane Smith, and Tyler Ankrum competing for the championship, and a rotation of drivers in the fifth truck. This combination racked up 10 wins, five by Creed, two by Smith, one each by Moffitt, Chase Elliott and Sam Mayer. Heading into the championship race at Phoenix Raceway, GMS qualified for three of the four championship contenders places and finished the year with a remarkable 1-2-3 finish, led by Creed, who won the organization’s second Truck Series championship. Mayer continued to dominate the ARCA Menards Series East, boasting an unheard-of 80% win ratio with five wins in six races, cruising to the championship. He also won one time in ARCA West, driving a special paint scheme that honored the late Spencer Clark in front of Clark’s hometown Las Vegas.

GMS Racing once again fielded five full-time trucks in 2021 for Creed, Smith, Ankrum, and Chase Purdy. The fifth was split by multiple drivers, coupled along with a part-time ARCA entry. The Truck team won a total of four races – Creed won three races while Smith brought home one checkered flag. Smith advanced to the final round of the playoffs for the second year in a row, finishing second in points. Daniel Dye won his first, and the team’s final ARCA win at Berlin Raceway, fittingly book-ending the team’s series wins at the same racetrack.

Gallagher announced in late 2021 that he would field a NASCAR Cup Series in 2022, purchasing controlling interest in Richard Petty Motorsports. The new team, Petty GMS, began competing in 2022 in tandem with the Truck Series teams.

Last year saw the team transition to two full-time trucks driven by Grant Enfinger and Jack Wood along with a full-time ARCA entry for Dye. Enfinger would win once that season, and Dye finished runner up in the ARCA championship and was named ARCA’s Rookie of the Year. He would later make the jump up to the Truck Series heading this season. 2022 was the finale for GMS Racing’s ARCA team.

This season, GMS welcomed rookie drivers Dye and Rajah Caruth to its Truck Series roster in addition to Enfinger, returning to form and contending for wins throughout the year. Wins at Kansas Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway solidified Enfinger as one of the threats poised to win the 2023 Truck Series championship. The latest victory, win number 44 in the Truck Series, positioned the team as the overall winningest Chevrolet organization within the series. With six races remaining in the year, all three drivers will look to add fuel to the legacy of one of the most successful organizations in NCTS history.

“I just want to start off by saying how grateful I am for Maury (Gallagher) and these incredible nine years at GMS Racing. A lot of people, including myself, have poured their hearts and souls into this organization to make it where it’s at today. Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the talented drivers, crew members, fabricators and administrators that have walked through our doors over the years,” responded Mike Beam. “I also want to thank Chevrolet. Chevrolet has been such a key partner of ours over our entire existence. They have been along for every success GMS has obtained and we couldn’t have done it without their support. As for the rest of this year, we will continue business as usual and chase after a Championship in our final season.”

While the ending of an era with the closing of the race team is undeniably a difficult circumstance, bright futures lie ahead. Heading into 2024, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB™ Co-Owners Maury Gallagher and Jimmie Johnson look to strengthen the team on all fronts with their NASCAR Cup Series efforts to become a force to be reckoned with for years to come. #WeAreGMS

    NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Overview:
    Event: Clean Harbors 175, Race 18 of 23, 175 laps – 55/55/65; 177.625 Miles
    Location: Milwaukee Mile (1.015-mile oval)
    Date/Broadcast: Aug. 27, 2023, at 4 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

    Mills’ Best:

Matt Mills and the No. 51 team head to the Milwaukee Mile for Sunday’s Clean Harbors 175. Mills we be looking to build on the momentum of a career-best fifth-place finish in his KBM debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond Raceway in late July. Mills qualified fifth and finished fifth earning his first career top-five finish across 143 national touring series starts.

The 26-year-old driver has made 22 career starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series including seven this season. He produced a career-best starting position of fourth at Michigan International Speedway in 2018 and a career-best fifth-place finish in his KBM debut at Richmond. Most recently, he qualified 17th and finished 23rd driving for Young’s Motorsports in the series’ last stop at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the Virginia native has made 121 career starts with a best result of 10th coming at Daytona International Speedway in 2019. He also made one NASCAR Cup Series start at Kansas Speedway in 2021.

After the first race of the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series owner’s playoffs the No. 51 team sits 10th on the playoff grid, eight points below the cutoff line for advancing to the Round of 8 with two races remaining in the Round of 10. Jack Wood will return to the No. 51 Chevrolet Sept. 8 for the final race of the Round of 10 at Kansas Speedway.

The No. 51 team qualified for the owner’s playoffs after finishing seventh in the regular season owner point standings. Across 17 starts in 2023, the team has recorded two wins, one pole, 170 laps led, seven top-five and 10 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 12.2. Owner-driver Kyle Busch recorded both of the 51 team’s victories winning the second race of the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and most recently collecting his organization’s historic 100th win July 22 at Pocono Raceway.

The No. 51 team has captured the NASCAR Craftsman World Truck Series owner’s championship three times (2013-2014 and 2019) and as an organization KBM has collected a series-record seven owner’s titles.

Veteran crew chief Brian Pattie is calling the shots for the No. 51 team this year in his first season at KBM after spending the last 14 seasons atop the pit box in the NASCAR Cup Series. In the Cup Series, his drivers produced six wins, nine poles, 57 top-five and 131 top-10 finishes across 528 starts. In 2012, he guided Clint Bowyer to three victories and a runner-up finish in the Cup Series championship standings. In 2017, he guided Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to two wins and a berth in the playoffs. The Florida native has also recorded 11 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and now has two wins as a crew chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Sunday will be Pattie’s first time calling a Truck Series race at the Milwaukee Mile. Across two Xfinity Series starts at Milwaukee, his driver’s produced an average finish of 19.0 with a best result of 11th coming with Reed Sorenson in 2005.

J.F. Electric, an electrical contractor that’s in the business of creating connections, will be the primary sponsor adorning Mill’s Silverado Sunday. Mills will also carry associate sponsorship from Utilitra, a women-owned utility and technology solutions provider with a diverse team of specialized professionals, and Thompson Electric, a full-service electrical contracting company.
    Matt Mills, Driver Q&A:

Do your expectations for this race change after a top-five finish in your KBM debut at Richmond?

“It certainly gives us some momentum. I really just need to go out there and have another solid weekend. If we can qualify in the single digits again and finish in the single digits, I think that would be a good weekend. It’s been more of a learning curve than I expected. Coming over here, it hasn’t just been show up and go faster, there’s been a lot that I’ve had to learn and things that I’ve had to work on. We will go into Milwaukee with some momentum and try and have another solid day in the J.F. Electric Silverado.”

Having never been to Milwaukee before, how are you preparing for this race?

“I’ve been asking lots of questions from lots of different drivers, spotters, and watching a lot of YouTube videos. Basically, that’s how I approached IRP last weekend since there wasn’t a lot to go off of. It worked out well for us over at Young’s Motorsports. I feel like I have more resources over here at KBM, so hopefully we can go out there and start out with some good speed and fine tune from there.”

As you’ve done your research, is there a track that you’ve been to that you feel will be similar to Milwaukee?

“Yeah, maybe 3 and 4 at Gateway. Honestly, growing up in the north, a lot of our racetracks are flat so hopefully that will play into my wheelhouse. Milwaukee is a little bigger, but I still have a really good feeling about it.”

    Matt Mills Career Highlights:

    • Made his NASCAR Cup Series debut at Kansas Speedway in 2021.
    • Has recorded one top-10 finish across 121 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, which came at Daytona International Speedway in July of 2019.
    • Has produced an average finish of 24.7 across 23 career starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Produced a career-best starting position of fourth at Michigan International Speedway in 2018 and a career-best fifth-place finish at Richmond in his KBM debut this season.
    • Kyle Busch’s No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado RST:

KBM-69: The No. 51 J.F. Electric team will unload KBM-69 for Sunday’s race at Milwaukee. It is the same Silverado that Mills qualified fifth and finished fifth win in his KBM debut at Richmond in late July. Across nine starts, KBM-69 has recorded a best result of second twice, both at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Busch (2021 and 2022).

    KBM Notes of Interest:

    • KBM’s Truck Series program has never competed in a race at the Milwaukee Mile, but the KBM Super Late Model team recorded three victories at the Wisconsin track. Kyle Busch won the Wisconsin All-Star 100 there in 2008 and also won the Howie Lettow Memorial in 2013. Erik Jones won the Howie Lettow Memorial in 2014.
    • KBM holds the Craftsman Truck Series records for most career wins (100) and most wins in a single season (14 in 2014). KBM owner-driver Kyle Busch picked up his organization’s first-ever win at Nashville Superspeedway in April of 2010 and also picked up its 100th Truck Series victory at Pocono Raceway in July of 2023. In addition to collecting a series-record seven owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).
    • With 42 victories, the No. 51 is the winningest number in KBM’s Truck Series fleet.
  • Chase Purdy- No. 4 Bama Buggies Silverado Craftsman Trucks Milwaukee Mile Preview

Chase Purdy- No. 4 Bama Buggies Silverado Craftsman Trucks Milwaukee Mile Preview

Chase Purdy: Driver, No. 4 Bama Buggies Chevrolet
    NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Overview:
    Event: Clean Harbors 175, Race 18 of 23, 175 laps – 55/55/65; 177.625 Miles
    Location: Milwaukee Mile (1.015-mile oval)
    Date/Broadcast: Aug. 27, 2023, at 4 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

    ‘Chase’n Wins:

Chase Purdy and the No. 4 Bama Buggies team head to the Milwaukee Mile for Sunday’s Clean Harbors 175. The race will be the first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the track since 2009. Matt Crafton is the only driver in Sunday’s field that was a part of the 2009 event. While KBM’s Truck Series program, which debuted in 2010, has never competed in a race at the Milwaukee Mile, the KBM Super Late Model team recorded three victories at the Wisconsin track. Kyle Busch won the Wisconsin All-Star 100 there in 2008 and also won the Howie Lettow Memorial in 2013. Erik Jones won the Howie Lettow Memorial in 2014.

Purdy has never competed in any series at the Milwaukee Mile. He qualified eighth and finished fifth at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, which many would say is the most similar track on the schedule, in the Truck Series earlier this year. He also had success in the K&N East Series at another similar track, New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He captured the pole for the 2017 race at New Hampshire, led seven laps and finished second to current NASCAR Cup Series regular Todd Gilliland.

The Mississippi native is in his third full-time season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and first with KBM. He enters Sunday’s race having totaled two top-five and 12 top-10 finishes across his 69 career Truck Series starts. Purdy entered the 2022 season having never earned a top-five result in Truck Series action but has produced two across 17 races in his first season at KBM, including a career-best runner-up finish at Texas Motor Speedway in April. He has already produced a career-high seven top-10 finishes this season, after posting just two each in 2021 and 2022. He currently ranks 13th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver point standings.

Purdy finished 16th in the Truck Series final standings in 2022 after competing in 22 of the 23 events. He posted two top-10 finishes and nine laps led, with a season-best finish of seventh coming at Talladega Superspeedway in October.

Jimmy Villeneuve is atop the pit box for Purdy and the No. 4 Chevrolet team this season. Prior to being promoted to crew chief for the 2023 season, Villeneuve had served as a Truck Chief at KBM since the 2017 season and in that role was a part of 18 wins, a driver’s championship with Christopher Bell in 2017 and the 2019 owner’s championship with the No. 51 team. This will be Villeneuve’s first race calling the shots for a race at the Milwaukee Mile.

Bama Buggies, your one-stop shop for all the biggest names in powersports and utility vehicles, will be the primary sponsor on Purdy’s No. 4 Chevrolet Sunday and for the majority of the events on the 2023 schedule. They are Central Alabama’s powersports experts, serving as an authorized dealer of Polaris, Slingshot, and Seadoo.
    Chase Purdy, Driver Q&A:

How are you preparing for the Milwaukee Mile?

“I’ve never been to Milwaukee, so I’ve just been watching a bunch of races on YouTube, getting on my iRacing Sim and obviously the Chevy Simulator — just using all the tools and resources so that I can be as best prepared as I can when I show up.”

As you’ve prepared for this race is there anything that you’ve found to be unique about the Milwaukee Mile?

“Yeah, I think it’s cool that it’s kind of a worn out surface. It looks like there are two grooves that you can race each other on, but I think that passing is going to be really difficult. So, it’ll be important to have speed early and qualify up front.

What does it mean to be a part of NASCAR’s return to the Milwaukee Mile?

“It’s just really unique. I watched the old Xfinity races there as a kid growing up, so I’m looking forward to going back there. I remember actually watching Kyle (Busch) race there years ago. So, it’ll be really fun and I’m excited about it. It’s kind of like North Wilkesboro. I don’t think this return has quite as much hype as that place did, but it definitely should.”

    Chase Purdy Career Highlights:

    • Across 69 career Truck Series starts, has produced 20 laps led, two top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. Posted a career-best runner-up finish at Texas Motor Speedway in April of 2023.
    • Finished 16th in Truck Series championship standings in 2022.
    • Finished fourth in the 2018 ARCA Menard’s Series championship standings after recording 84 laps led, 10 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.
    • Earned the 2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie of the year honors and finished fourth in the championship standings after posting four poles, 200 laps led, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes across 14 starts.
    • Won the prestigious Snowflake 100 Pro Late Model race at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla., in Dec. of 2018.
    • Chase Purdy’s No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado RST:

KBM-56: The No. 4 Bama Buggies team will unload KBM-56 for Sunday’s race at Milwaukee. This chassis has two career victories across 19 starts, most recently with John Hunter Nemechek at Kansas Speedway last September. Nemechek also won with KBM-56 at Pocono Raceway in June of 2021. Purdy has piloted this Silverado three times this year, with a best result of eighth coming at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

    KBM Notes of Interest:

    • KBM’s Truck Series program has never competed in a race at The Milwaukee Mile. The KBM Super Late Model team recorded three victories at the Milwaukee Mile.
    • The No. 4 has 18 career victories at KBM and was the number for both of the organization’s driver championships.
  • Olympic Gold Medalist Bonnie Blair Named Grand Marshal for Clean Harbors 175

Olympic Gold Medalist Bonnie Blair Named Grand Marshal for Clean Harbors 175

The Return of NASCAR To the Milwaukee Mile is Sunday, Aug. 27

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (Aug. 22, 2023) – Pure speed and skill contributed to Olympic hero Bonnie Blair’s amazing successes representing the United States in speed skating.

This Sunday, Aug. 27, the four-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Wisconsin resident will serve as the Grand Marshal and give the command to start the engines, akin to firing the starter’s pistol in speed skating, to begin the Clean Harbors 175 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at The Milwaukee Mile.

“I’m thrilled and honored to participate in the excitement of having NASCAR back here in Milwaukee for Wisconsin NASCAR fans,” said Blair. “When things go fast on an oval and turn left here at State Fair Park, it seems fitting for me to be involved!”

Blair, a member of the Wisconsin Hall of Fame and U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, is the most decorated female U.S. Winter Olympian of all-time. She is married to four-time Olympic speed skater Dave Cruikshank and lives in the Milwaukee area. Between her philanthropic activities and motivational speaking engagements, you’ll often see Bonnie and Dave training athletes inside the Pettit National Ice Center adjacent to the Milwaukee Mile and the Wisconsin State Fair Park.

“The Pettit National Ice Center is still a big part of my life. My husband and I are working on increasing the number of athletes in our sport with our “DASH” 5013c program that involves young kids all the way up to Olympic hopefuls,” the four-time Olympian said.

Blair sped around the 400-meter oval inside the Pettit, still an official Olympic training facility, in preparation for her final Olympics in 1994, where she skated to Gold in both the 500 meter and 1,000-meter events. Now, sports fans can join her this Sunday to enjoy the pure speed of NASCAR racing on the historic one-mile oval next door.

“Bonnie Blair is iconic,” said Loan Mansy, Clean Harbors’ president of environmental sales and service. “We wanted an iconic sports figure to kick off this iconic race. Bonnie’s been making America proud and representing the best of the Midwest for decades. With our local Milwaukee ties and Safety-Kleen’s long history in the region, including being founded in the city, there are some obvious parallels that made Bonnie the ideal choice as grand marshal to our race.”

Clean Harbors is a top 20 private transportation fleet in the United States. Mansy, who was named a 2023 “Top Woman to Watch” by the Women In Trucking Association’s “Redefining the Road” magazine, will wave the green flag at the start of the race.

In her amazing career, Blair earned gold medals in three straight Olympics, and a total of five gold medals and one bronze medal in 500-meter and 1,000-meter competition in the 1988, 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics. She’s also the 1986 short track skating world champion.

“Bonnie Blair is a true sports hero,” said Mansy.

This Sunday’s Clean Harbors 175 will be a test of pure speed and skill for the drivers racing in the NASCAR Playoffs, led by the leading NASCAR Playoffs driver from Seymour, Wis., Ty Majeski.

Tickets and event information can be found by visiting www.MilwaukeeMileRacing.com.

The Clean Harbors 175 from the Milwaukee Mile will be televised live on FS1 Sunday, August 27 beginning at 4 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

His best finish with this truck is 11th, and it has won before with Zane Smith at Dover Motor Speedway in the 2020 season.

    Milwaukee Strength

Out of the four drivers entered dawning past ARCA Menards Series experience at Milwaukee, Daniel Dye is tied for having the best average finish, and was arguably the most consistent driver between the two years. Dye made his first start at Milwaukee driving a GMS Racing entry in 2021, where he started and finished in the third position. The following year, Dye would back up his result by qualifying fifth and finishing third once again. With this synergy, Dye looks to deliver his first-career top-10 finish in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series on Sunday.

    Bainbridge at Milwaukee

Blake Bainbridge has one prior Milwaukee race on his resume, which came in the 2005 NASCAR Xfinity Series race held at the Mile. He served as Crew Chief for NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Bill Elliott, who qualified Bainbridge’s car in 15th and finished in 17th on that day.

    From the Driver’s Seat

You’re one of only a handful of drivers that has raced at Milwaukee before, so what have you learned about this track that you can carry into Sunday?

“Being able to have raced at Milwaukee twice before with the Truck Series race coming up is definitely going to be helpful. It’s a unique place; it’s a little bit similar to what we ran at St. Louis, but definitely different. The surface is way older and it’s going to be a fun race in the trucks for sure. I loved it when I raced there in ARCA; we finished third both times we ran there. I’m going to try to use what I learned in those races when it comes to race around the competition and set up passes. We are excited to have Hamlin & Associates on our No. 43 Silverado, they are a new partner with our team and I think our truck looks fast, so hopefully we can replicate what we did the past two years and the success we had with them.”

    • Chassis History/Info: Enfinger and the No. 23 team will compete with GMS Racing chassis no. 357 at Milwaukee. This truck was just freshly built by the team at GMS Fabrication, and will make its debut on Sunday.
    • Milwaukee Rookie: Milwaukee is one of two tracks (North Wilkesboro being the other one) that Truck Series veteran Grant Enfinger has no prior experience at. When asked about racing at this historic venue, Enfinger replied by saying that he has been looking forward to the opportunity to check another track off his “bucket list” and noted that the wore out racing surface should be a natural fit for his driving style.
    • Double Duty: All about that track time. Grant will make his second ARCA Menards Series start of the season this weekend at Milwaukee as he gets back behind the wheel of the No. 97 CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet entry. The 2015 series champion competed with this same car in the ARCA race at Charlotte Motor Speedway earlier this year, advancing 22 positions from his starting spot at the rear to finish in a respectable fourth place effort.
    • Hensley at Milwaukee: Though Milwaukee has not been on any NASCAR national series schedule since 2009, veteran Crew Chief, Jeff Hensley, has a lengthy notebook on the Mile. Jeff won a pole with Mike Skinner in the 2007 Truck Series race, and in six total NCTS starts, his trucks have started in the top-10 four times. He called drivers to top-10 finishes on three occasions with Skinner in ’07 and ’08, and Brian Scott in 2009. Hensley also called nine NASCAR Xfinity Series events at the track, earning two top-10 finishes with drivers Curtis Markham in 1995 and Tracy Leslie in 1997. As a driver, Hensley made two NXS starts in 1984 and 1985, qualifying in the top-10 both times and finishing ninth in the latter.
    • Indianapolis Recap: The defending race winner at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park had high hopes of competing for the win after a strong qualifying start of sixth place. Enfinger would add a total of 12 stage points with finishes of seventh in stage one and third in stage two, but would have a costly pit stop at the beginning of the third stage. Having to return for a second time due to the lug nuts not being properly fastened, Enfinger would restart deep in the field. Without the aid of many cautions, Grant would scratch his way through the back half of the running order, but would ultimately have to settle for a 12th place finish.
    • FearTheFinger Playoffs Profile: Enfinger’s two race wins at Kansas Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway, along with a stage win, gave him 11 playoff points at the start of the Round of 10. His 12th place result at IRP, paired with the added benefit of stage points, left him with a 24 point buffer to cutline drivers Nick Sanchez and Matt DiBennedetto heading into Milwaukee. Grant is five points behind his nearest competitor, Zane Smith, and 23 points behind current point leader, Corey Heim.
    • From The Drivers Seat: Since you have never raced at Milwaukee before, what are you looking to gain by competing in the ARCA race before the Truck Series race on Sunday?

“Any laps around a track are good laps, especially at a place that I’ve never been to. So, I appreciate Codie (Rohrbaugh, CR7 Motorsports Team Owner) for the opportunity to run their car, and more than that, it’s really fun racing in the ARCA Series. Overall, I’m looking forward to racing at Milwaukee; it’s a track that I’ve heard a lot about, and Hensley has raced there before, but I’ve never seen the place. I’m anxious to get there and get practice started on Saturday with our Champion Power Equipment Chevy, and hopefully we’ll have some good speed in the race.”

    • From The Pit Box (Jeff Hensley): It’s been a while since you’ve last been to Milwaukee, but what type of characteristics do you remember about this track that you can use to your advantage on Sunday?

“Milwaukee is a tough track. I mean, people talk about flat racetracks, but this place is flat. Like it’s extremely flat. So it’s hard to set up for; there’s always been an issue where you fight that balance of being just free enough on entry to where you can be somewhat aggressive but still turn in the center and try to make the straightawaways as long as you can by getting in the throttle as quick as you can get pointed good. That’s where I feel you make your time is from the center of the corner off. You’ve got to be able to rotate in the center and manage the throttle and stay in the racetrack. I think it’ll be racy, I think there’s going to be a lot of tire falloff, or at least that’s how it was in the past and I don’t see that getting any better. If your truck’s pretty decent, I feel like you’ll have the ability to widen out the racetrack and pass some guys with different options, but it’s a tough ole’ racetrack.”

The Foundation’s mission of using educational attainment to end racial disparities in education and health is vital in addressing economic inequality and improving future success in African-American communities. For more information, please visit www.wendellscott.org.

    • Chassis History/Info: Caruth and the No. 24 team will race with GMS chassis no. 337 at the Mile. This truck has been in the team’s rotation used primarily at short tracks this year, with Rajah driving it at Martinsville Speedway, North Wilkesboro Speedway, and Richmond Raceway. Sheldon Creed won in this truck on debut at World Wide Technology Raceway back in 2021.
    • Milwaukee Experience: Rajah Caruth is just one of four drivers entered in Sunday’s Clean Harbors 175 that have raced in both ARCA Menards Series races held in 2021 and 2022. Caruth’s first Milwaukee start was just his second time ever behind the wheel of an ARCA car, starting 15th and finishing 13th. Last year, he made big gains on the track, qualifying in sixth and nabbing a fourth place finish, one of eight top-fives that season.
    • Walter at Milwaukee: Crew Chief Chad Walter has not competed in any NCTS race before at Milwaukee, however he has made a total of three NASCAR Xfinity Series starts working with drivers Kyle Busch, Landon Cassill, and Justin Allgaier. Cassill qualified the highest in the three races in 2008, where he started in third place. Allgaier earned Walter his best finish at the racetrack the following year, posting a 17th place result.
    • Indianapolis Recap: It was a great night to be on the No. 24 team last time out at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Rajah showed promise throughout the entire event, knocking off his second-highest start of the season with a fourth place qualifying effort. He then parlayed his qualifying speed into a quality race as a whole, earning three stage points at the conclusion stage one and positioning himself for an impressive finishing result. Caruth would make a run to the checkered flag holding down the seventh position, securing his second top-10 finish of the season just one spot short of his career-best.
    • From The Driver’s Seat: Coming off your second top-10 finish of the season, how much of a confidence boost do you have entering Milwaukee, where you’ve raced at twice before?

“I would say that the confidence lies in the prep that my No. 24 team and I are doing, not just for when it comes to this race, but the rest of the season as a whole. Most of the next tracks that we will be racing at on our schedule are ones that I’ve had the chance to race at before, whether that be in Trucks, ARCA, or Xfinity cars. It’s great to have another top-10 finish, but we have certainly been hoping for more, and in our minds there’s no reason that we can’t continue to run up front in the next six races, maybe potentially even bust off a win. I feel good in the Wendell Scott Foundation Chevy that we’ll have not just this weekend, but for the rest of the year.”

    • Indianapolis Recap: Daniel made his first Truck Series start at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park last race, starting from the 15th spot. After struggling with handling on his No. 43 Chevy, Daniel would slip back slightly down the running order, but the crew would make resilient changes to improve on it. Dye would wind up bringing his truck home with a 22nd place result, one lap down.

Grant Enfinger, No. 23 Champion Power Equipment Chevrolet Silverado RST

    START: 6TH
    FINISH: 12TH
    POINTS: 6TH

Post-Race Quote: On the pit road incident:

“Yeah, we just left some lugs off and had to come back in and tighten them up. I don’t want to be too hard on those guys, they’ve been working really hard. The pit stop before that one, I believe it was the first time all year that we had gained spots on.

We’re making progress, but we just made a mistake, and you know, it’s just part of it. We had to come from the back there and feel like we did pretty good there for a few laps; and then I ended up trying to make three wide in the middle work, ended up using our tires up, and guys were holding us up. I just used too much of my stuff early and was banking on a caution that never came out. Unfortunate, it’s just that at this level of racing, it’s tough to make a mistake like that and come back. But I feel like we were definitely a top-three truck, but yeah it just wasn’t meant to be tonight.”

Rajah Caruth, No. 24 Born Driven Chevrolet Silverado RST

    START: 4TH
    FINISH: 7TH
    POINTS: 17TH

Post-Race Quote: Great Finish for Rajah Caruth tonight. Rajah you had a pretty good qualifying run, tell me how much that helped you and going into the race and talk to me about you day ending with a Top-10.

“Yeah for sure. Qualifying helped with track position early. Balance firing off wasn’t really what I needed but it was really good after a long run. I felt like I could maintain. It just couldn’t fall off the way I needed to. I was in a bad spot on pit road. My guys did an awesome job. Just being around the corner and having to come around people then having someone in front of me kind of out us in a tough spot.

My Born Driven Silverado was pretty sporty tonight. Nothing for Ty. He’s one of the best short track racers in the series and one of the best in the country. Running Top-10 tonight is a big improvement for the short tracks I’ve run this year. Super proud of this group and I guess myself a little bit because short tracks are something I’ve struggled with myself this year. So to have a good clean night is a good deal for Mike Beam, Maury Gallagher, Ron Booth, Team Chevy, and The Wendell Scott Foundation. Wanted a little bit more but good to have a solid night.”

Daniel Dye, No. 43 BettenhausenAuto.com Chevrolet Silverado RST

    START: 15TH
    FINISH: 22ND
    POINTS: 18TH

Post-Race Quote: “We had a pretty tough night at a place we had a lot of confidence going into. Just couldn’t quite find the balance we needed to make up ground with our No. 43 GMS Chevy Silverado. Super cool to have everyone from Bettenhausen Automotive out to support us, and having the opportunity to race that tribute scheme is something I won’t forget. Can’t wait for Milwaukee in a couple weeks.”

TY MAJESKI DRIVES F-150 TO FIRST TRUCK SERIES WIN OF SEASON IN PLAYOFF OPENER AT LUCAS OIL INDIANAPOLIS RACEWAY PARK

    • Ty Majeski helped Ford to its fifth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory of 2023.
    • Majeski led 179 of 200 laps, completing a sweep of the race after wins in the first two stages.
    • This is Majeski’s first victory and second Top-10 in two appearances at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

    Ford Finishing Results:
    1st – Ty Majeski
    5th – Zane Smith
    9th – Matt Crafton
    16th – Ben Rhodes
    21st – Logan Bearden
    27th – Conner Jones
    31st – Hailie Deegan

TY MAJESKI, No. 98 Road Ranger Ford F-150 – WHAT DOES THIS WIN MEAN FOR YOU AND THE TEAM? “We didn’t win last week, and the message coming back is that we win and lose as a team, right? The speeding penalty and then obviously missed the strategy, and these guys crawled behind us, right? When you give races away like that, it’s how you recover from them. This team is really resilient. We have a good group around us. We assembled a good group, and I love working with Joe [Shear Jr.]. We’ve had a lot of fun. We’re just a couple of short track guys having fun on the NASCAR stage. It’s pretty cool.”

THE RESTARTS, ESPECIALLY FROM THE TOP, SEEMED TO BE A MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO YOUR VICTORY. “Yeah, you know the track had less grip than last year. Last year, the bottom was working well for me. I could get it turned and get it rotated off the bottom well. But, this year there was just a lack of grip. We were six, seven tenths off all night, and it just took a little bit of a different restart strategy to maintain the lead. I just threw a pretty good bomb there on that one restart and was able to cross them over – clear sailing.”

YOU WON BOTH STAGES AND RECEIVED MAXIMUM POINTS. WHAT KIND OF STATEMENT IS THIS INTO THE PLAYOFFS? “We’re peaking at the right time. This is exactly when we peaked last year, and it looks like we’re trending in the same direction. Hopefully this is just the start of our playoff run. We want to go and win Milwaukee, right? That’s my home race. Go win Kansas. We’ve had great trucks at all those places. Obviously, Milwaukee we’re going back to for the first time but Kansas, it’s been a good track for us. Bristol and Homestead we’ve won, and Phoenix we’re in the mix to the end. That’s the end goal. Hopefully we can get Road Ranger, Soda Sense and all our supporters back to Phoenix. That would be pretty special.”

ZANE SMITH, No. 38 Boot Barn Ford F-150 – “We came to our truck right before the race and had a flat right-rear before we even got going. We knew we were going to have to fight through some adversity before we even got going, but proud of our night. Our pit crew did an awesome job on our Boot Barn Ford. We experienced positive changes and worse changes throughout the night, but was happy there somewhat during that final run. Just wish we would have fired off a little better to maintain our track position. I wish we wouldn’t have fallen off so hard there at the very end. It’s the long pursuit of never being perfect. We’ll work on it. It was still a solid run of keeping our short track streak of good finishes alive.”

MATT CRAFTON, No. 88 Generac/Menards Ford F-150 – “We just couldn’t fire off. We were really bad on the short run. The first run, we were battling and good on the short run. But as the night went on, we were just really bad on the short run, and then in the long run we were actually pretty good. I just wish we had about another 30 laps to go because we were running that group down in front of us pretty quickly. But all-in-all, not a terrible night. Top-10 is okay. I definitely had a little bit of a better truck if we had a longer run.”

    TOYOTA QUOTES

WILLIAM SAWALICH, No. 1 Starkey/Soundgear Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 6th

Can you talked about what you learned and another career-best result?

“The ARCA race – I really learned a lot from that. It was a little hotter, a little slicker. Once it cooled off, the track definitely picked up grip – especially front grip. We fired off a little tight in stage one, but we fixed it. We had a really fast pit stop – I think we picked up five spots, so I was really happy with that. TRICON Garage gave me a really fast SoundGear Toyota Tundra TRD Pro.”

COREY HEIM, No. 11 Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, TRICON Garage

    Finishing Position: 8th

Can you talk about your race and outlook heading into Milwaukee?

“I don’t think it was a bad effort overall. Obviously, we want to win – but we are points racing to try to get to Phoenix. We did just that today. Hopefully, we extended our lead a little bit and head to Milwaukee, which is going to be tough for us as a team, but proud of TRICON Garage and Toyota Racing for their efforts. Definitely a contending Safelite Toyota Tundra TRD Pro tonight – the 98 (Ty Majeski) was just by far the best. We have a little bit of work to do, but I think we have some good tracks coming up for us.”
